The economy has gone suicidal.
It is working against the very people who need its energy to survive. It is collapsing on its own weight, and the weight of literally incalculable levels of toxic debt. And it is going to create the greatest disaster of our time, if the warnings from the world’s most powerful bankers are any indication.
While the general population is obsessed with the details of the world’s most entertaining and bizarre election in American history, the big banks are gearing up for a deadly serious economic collapse.
Just during the past few weeks, there have been major discussions about stock markets dropping, the insolvency of Europe’s biggest investment bank, the mounting debt crisis and a deeper, long-term decline for ‘everyday Americans.’
Here’s what you probably missed while the Hillary-Trump cage match has taken over the collective psyche:
1. HSBC Issues “Red Alert” Over Imminent Sell-Off of Stocks
The U.S. stock market is artificially propped up by the Federal Reserve, but their ability to stimulate the economy has worn off. Immunity has set in, and they’ve got nothing left.
It is only a matter of time until Yellen raises rates.
When the shoe drops, everything falls with it.

In a note to clients released Wednesday, Murray Gunn, the head of technical analysis for HSBC, said he had become on “RED ALERT” for an imminent sell-off in stocks given the price action over the past few weeks.

In late September, Gunn said the stock market’s moves looked eerily similar to those just before the 1987 stock market crash. Citi’s Tom Fitzpatrick also highlighted the market’s similarities to the 1987 crash just a few days ago. “With the US stock market selling off aggressively on 11 October, we now issue a RED ALERT,” Gunn said.
2. I.M.F. Issues “Stability Warning” Over Deutsche Bank
Germany’s – and Europe’s – largest investment bank is in the midst of a terrible crisis with its balance sheets, overloaded with toxic debt that is big enough to topple several continents. Goldman Sachs and others, of course, have echoed their concerns.
According to the NY Times:
“The focus of investors has shifted from the level of capital to the business model, and that is why banks are under pressure,” said Peter Dattels, deputy director in the I.M.F.’s capital markets division.
In their report, the fund’s economists argued that the problems with European banks were deeply structural: a toxic brew of low levels of capital, troubled loans and business models that no longer delivered profits in an era of low growth and negative interest rates.
In particular, Mr. Dattels said, “banks are transitioning from outdated business models that rely on large scale balance sheets,” saying that Deutsche Bank fell into this bucket.
Economists and regulators have argued that Deutsche Bank, given its size and culture of risk-taking, poses more of a risk to financial markets than its peers in Europe and the United States.
As per usual with the haunting spectre of 2008, Deutsche Bank’s demise threatens contagion on a global basis, and will almost certainly infect U.S. markets as well.
3. Bank of America Warns That a Recession is Imminent, and Unavoidable
As SHTF reported, even the big banks are being forced to admit that stimulus is no longer working, and that consequences are happening.
The Fed’s disastrous rescue plan after the 2008 financial crisis has left the U.S. economy in a fragile and vulnerable state.

“We are seven years into a full-fledged, all out, central bankers doing everything they can to stimulate demand,” Bank of America-Merrill Lynch’s head of U.S. equity and quantitative strategy Savita Subramanian recently warned on CNBC’s ” Fast Money .”
“We looked at all of these indicators that have been pretty good at forecasting recessions and we extrapolated that if they follow the current trends they’re on, we’re going to hit a recession sometime in the second half of next year.”

Again, we’re playing with musical chairs here, not theoretical possibilities. The recording will end, and play time will be over.
4. Macquarie Group’s Leading Investor Warns That the Private Sector Will Never Recover From QE3… and the Age of Human Jobs Is Over
Federal Reserve monetary policy has absolutely eviscerated small businesses. Even typical players in investment markets are no longer able to get returns in private investment.
This is forcing a de facto state-run economy, and to make matters worse, all the humans are about to be laid off as robots take their jobs.
In the coming decade, 3.5 million truckers will lose their jobs, and along with will go waitresses, secretaries, teachers, office workers and much more. What then?
As SHTF reported:
The head of the investment banking firm Macquarie Group went even further, cautioning that we are witnessing nothing short of a terminal economy… one which they very well might not be able to put back together again:

Global central banks with their easy money policies of negative interest rates and quantitative easing are working against a debt deflation scenario, with limited success, according to Shvets. “That was the entire idea of aggressive monetary policies: Stimulate investment and consumption. None of that works, there is no evidence. It can impact asset prices, but they don’t flow into the real economy,” he said.

5. The Bank of International Settlements – the Central Bank of Central Banks – Warns of Chinese Economy Meltdown
Our financial problems are global in nature, and markets in China are just as vulnerable to collapse. Basically, all the major economies are playing the same dangerous shell game.
The pinnacle of the global financial system is warning that conditions are right for a “full-blown banking crisis” in China. Since the last financial crisis, there has been a credit boom in China that is really unprecedented in world history.
At this point the total value of all outstanding loans in China has hit a grand total of more than 28 trillion dollars. That is essentially equivalent to the commercial banking systems of the United States and Japan combined.
The Bank for International Settlements warned in its quarterly report that China’s “credit to GDP gap” has reached 30.1, the highest to date and in a different league altogether from any other major country tracked by the institution. It is also significantly higher than the scores in East Asia’s speculative boom on 1997 or in the US subprime bubble before the Lehman crisis. (source)
But of course there is more.
Put this together with the downright eerie predictions of ranking figures in Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase.
• Goldman Sachs warns that the “Third Wave” of the financial crisis is upon us, and will be the worst phase of it yet:
This wave is characterised by rock-bottom commodities prices, stalling growth in China and other emerging-markets economies, and low global inflation, Goldman Sachs analysts led by Peter Oppenheimer said in a big-picture note.
This triple whammy has its roots in the response to the first two waves of crisis — the banking collapse and European sovereign-debt crisis — and it is all part of the so-called debt supercycle of the past few decades. (source)
• JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon warned last year that a “volatile crisis” is coming.
He is preparing his firm to dig deeper into control over the digital grid, and the fees, penalties and surcharges that go along with it.

DK, There has been a glut in idle shipping containers for years now up to 5 years. I was looking into that about 3 years ago and pricing them. $2500 for 40 Ft. And decided it would just be a rusty leaky, hot box to fry in. And under ground they cave in with load of moisture. Not the best prepping device by far. If you check the archives this has been discussed many times. Not too many benefits. For the cost of actually making them livable you are spending more by trying to refurbish the Hot Steel Box making it livable. Lots of Ytube vids on that as well.

The value of a shipping container as a bug out shelter would be the setup of the shell. Obviously interior and exterior modifications would be necessary to waterproof the containers whether they are above or below ground.
Above ground, concrete blocks filled with sand would be a good insulator as well as adding some protection beyond just sealing and waterproofing.
Frankly, I see few, if any, firefights where I am located except in the worse possible Mad Max scenario; and I am not expecting that this time around. 🙂
some shipping containers are made of corten steel, which makes them corrosion resistant. mine will stop a 9mm. its easy to weld room divider walls on the inside that also reinforce the strength. 4 interior walls should make it pretty strong for a few feet below grade. You can also line the inside with styrofoam insulation to keep stable temperatures above ground.. A exhaust fan, windows and doors can be easily installed.
You might duck behind a car in a shootout, but you would do well to make sure you get behind the engine block or if you can’t do that, get behind a wheel. Your best spot will be behind the engine block AND a wheel, since your adversary can simply shoot underneath the vehicle and hit you if you place yourself anywhere else.
A car is better than nothing for cover, but a round with sufficient velocity will go right through the body panels, all the way through the vehicle.
That is the reason one gets behind a front wheel, more mass to penetrate.

Just got back today 8-15 from a cruise leaving and returning from San Pedro. DK is right. THOUSANDS of containers are sitting in San Pedro. Been on a number of cruises and this is by far the most containers I have ever seen there. Its like they are stacking them higher as it seems they dont have much more flat area to store them.

Katchup, I have no idea what your water usage is. I guess if you are growing a garden and taking long shower and are wasteful go for an 800 Gal container. My uses are different, low footprint, Solo off the grid and no garden yet.
The biggest waste of water is about a Gallon to rinse the dishes after I wash them with hot water from a kettle. You don’t need to fill up an entire sink of hot water to do dishes.
I have several tubs, dirty dishes. I drip dish soap over them then pour hot water over them, then hand wash one dish at a time. I may use maybe a quart of hot water to heat the dishes up and sponge to wash them.
Maybe you and your wife are water hogs. Try taking a shower with a bottle of water. Take the cap off, Put your thump over the end and let the water trickle out to get your body wet. then soap up wash and rinse off. I can take a shower with one 16 Oz, bottle of water if I need to. I sometimes go through 3 bottles cause it feels good. And it is not good to take showers every day.
So to each his own. If I put in a garden here I can siphon off the fresh water lake I own, with a 2 inch pipe and swimming pool pump. A guy across the lake does that and has a lot of gardens growing. I’ll even run the pump off of solar if needed.. I am still working on infrastructure here right now, and no time this year for any garden. Maybe next year, but I would have a water source first in place to handle it.

Directly and indirectly the consequences of negative economic dynamics lead to war. Nations squeezed for income do things or don’t do things, make deals and alliances that under better conditions, wouldn’t and shouldn’t. Certainly the great depression, felt worldwide, was a catalyst for WWII. I listened to a debate on Bloomberg radio about how the FED absolutely must increase interest rates next year, several times. Notice they wouldn’t do it while Obama is in the White House.
There’s your trigger, even the continued vocal threat of increasing interest rates could trigger a crash.

You can cash out your IRA. You have to officially retire to get to your 401K or get laid off from the employer. If your still “On The Books” the 401K is mainly unreachable. You can transfer SOME of your 401k to an IRA, YOUR CONTRIBUTION and from there get your hands on it. I have done as much financial defense in depth as is possible under the circumstances.
In all probability Offense Stocks should rise like a rocket (no pun intended) given the geo-political realities.
Well then within your 401K Fund get out of Equities and Bonds as both will collapse and default. See a financial advisor to see where you can safely park your contributions within your 401K to reduce exposure through the end of the year. Once the market crashes, you can move back into equities at half price. Take a look at your options. You have about a week to get this task completed. Implosion can happen at any time. 2008 Crash started happening in Oct Nov 2008.

I agree with you. It is not so easy to get the money out. Most people have their money in retirement funds of some sort and it is all tangled up with obligations to pay taxes to the government in varying amounts in the form of income tax, devidend tax, etc. The more you withdraw, the higher the tax rate. There is a lot to be said about, ‘better something than nothing’, but you don’t want to be a fool and blow it all either. I have yet to find a good way to bail out and ‘go Galt’! I thought all this was going to happen back in 2008 and withdrew funds from the sock market and never got back in! My loss, a lot too! I hate to say it but all of us are in some way or another vested in the system.
When I was young we use to climb high into a tree and ride the tree down as someone was chopping it down below. I am afraid the trees I am climbing now are a lot bigger and taller than the ones we use to ride down. Sometimes the trees would flip and would leave you hanging on for dear life and we would get pinned down, needing help getting extricated. We dit it for fun back then, and boy did we have fun! We didn’t have roller-coasters.

Saying that collapse is imminent never seems to work. It is prophesying the timing what is difficult. On the Deutsche bank fine for $14 billion, the pressure on the US to back off must be tremendous. For all we know, the money may already have been slipped under the table to Deutsche Bank, and all of this being for show. We don’t know. Printing new currency and repeated deficit spending loses its effectiveness over time. Inflation takes over and the value of the currency declines. Make no mistake about it, Hillary Clinton and her elite backers control the mainstream media narrative. However, the illusion of an unbiased press is quickly falling apart as multiple leaked emails, and now, a video from last night’s debate on CNN shows. During a brief clip (see above), which has now been posted to YouTube, CNN forgot to kill reporter Pamela Brown’s mic when they cut away. As the camera cuts back to the allegedly ‘unbiased’ debate focus group, Brown can be heard speaking to the group under her breath.
“America is great, because we’re good,” Brown whispers to the group in an obvious attempt to coach their answers.
Once Brown realizes she is back on air, she quickly asks a participant in the focus group what anti-Trump argument from Clinton impressed her most. Having just been told what to say by Brown, the participant quickly regurgitated her canned response, adding her own adaptation for good measure.
“She stated that America is already great, and I tend to agree with that,” the panel member says. “Though we are slow in progressing in a number of ways, we are progressing and we need to continue the momentum.”
As the Daily Caller notes, this brief exchange is being interpreted by many as proof CNN was coaching focus group member about what to say on the air. Within just a few hours of being uploaded, the video collected nearly 150,000 views. There are other possible explanations, though; Brown may have been informing focus group members about what clip CNN had just aired (since they couldn’t see the replay themselves), or Brown could have been setting up a semi-staged response after previously finding out what the focus group member wanted to say.

A whole lot of people are gonna be in for a big surprise and when they think things cant get any worse it will. Had to qualify the other day and was talking to a couple guys that I have never seen on the Range.
Found out that they were EMT/Paramedics out of a couple of the county up by Shitcago. I forgot which ones they were because I was SHOCK because they told me that they are going to have to start carrying weapons on the ambulances on all of their calls, because of the robberies and actual attacks by the Leaches and Zombies that they serve. WTF!!!!!

Sgt Dale, Some FF Paramedics in parts of Shitcago have been carrying guns for 30 years that I remember. Robbery meaning the Drug Junkies are now after the Paramedic Medical Box where the Morphine is kept. They need to lock the Ambulance when they go into a scene. That’s why on most all medical calls you will see a Fire Truck also respond with more personnel along with the Ambulance to keep an eye on the vehicles outside parked at a scene. And assist lifting Fatass patients. Anybody acts up you swing a hydrant wrench at the perp.
