Does a mystery that is 3,500 years old hold the key to what is going to happen to global financial markets in 2015? Could it be possible that the timing of major financial crashes is not just a matter of coincidence? In previous articles on my website, I have discussed some of the major economic and financial cycle theories and their proponents. For example, in an article entitled “If Economic Cycle Theorists Are Correct, 2015 To 2020 Will Be Pure Hell For The United States“, I examined a number of economic cycle theories that seem to indicate that the second half of this decade is going to be a nightmare economically. But the cycle that I am going to discuss in this article is a lot more controversial than any of those. In his most recent book, Jonathan Cahn has demonstrated that almost all of the major financial crashes in U.S. history are very closely tied to a seven year pattern that we find in the Bible known as “the Shemitah”. Since that book was released, I have been asked about this repeatedly during radio appearances. So in this article I am going to attempt to explain what the Shemitah is, and what this Biblical pattern seems to indicate may happen in 2015. If you are an atheist, an agnostic, or are generally skeptical by nature, this article might prove quite challenging for you. I would ask that you withhold judgment until you have examined the evidence. When I first heard about these things, I had to go verify the facts for myself, because they are truly extraordinary.
So precisely what is “the Shemitah”?
In the Bible, the people of Israel were commanded to let the land lie fallow every seven years. There would be no sowing and no reaping, and this is something that God took very seriously. In fact, the failure to observe these Sabbath years was one of the main reasons cited in the Scriptures for why the Jewish people were exiled to Babylon in 586 BC.
But there was more to the Shemitah year than just letting the land lie fallow.
On the last day of the Shemitah year, the people of Israel were instructed to perform a releasing of debts. We find the following in Deuteronomy chapter 15…
At the end of every seven years you shall grant a relinquishing of debts. This is the manner of the relinquishing: Every creditor that has loaned anything to his neighbor shall relinquish it. He shall not exact it of his neighbor, or of his brother, because it is called the Lord’s relinquishment.
This happened at the end of every seven years on Elul 29 – the day right before Rosh Hashanah on the Biblical calendar.
So what does this have to do with us today?
Well, if you go back to the last day of the Shemitah year in 2001, you will find that there was an absolutely horrifying stock market crash.
On September 17th, 2001 (which was Elul 29 on the Jewish calendar), we witnessed the greatest one day stock market crash in U.S. history up to that time. The Dow fell an astounding 684 points, and it was a record that held for precisely seven years until the end of the next Shemitah year.
At the end of the next Shemitah year in 2008, another horrifying stock market crash took place. On September 29th, 2008 the Dow plummeted 777 points, which still today remains the greatest one day stock market crash of all time. It turns out that September 29th, 2008 corresponded with Elul 29 on the Jewish calendar – the precise day when the Bible calls for a releasing of debts.
So on the very last day of the last two Shemitah years, the stock market crashed so badly that it set a brand new all-time record.
And now we are in another Shemitah year. It began last fall, and it will end next September.
Could it be possible that we will see another historic market crash?
Author Jonathan Cahn has correctly pointed out that we should never put God in a box. Just because something has happened in the past does not mean that it will happen again. But we should not rule anything out either.
Perhaps God is using His calendar to make a point. Cahn believes that if we are going to see something happen, it will probably occur as the Shemitah year comes to an end…
Cahn has pointed that, according to his research, the worst of the worst usually happens at the end of the Shemitah year, not at the beginning. In fact, the last day of the year, Elul 29 on the Hebrew calendar, which will occur on Sept. 13, 2015, is the most dreaded day.
The pattern revealed in “The Mystery of the Shemitah” is that the beginning of the Shemitah’s impact is often subtle, but leads to a dramatic climax.
“The beginning may mark a change in direction, even a foreshadow of what will come to a crescendo at the Shemitah’s end,” he said.
And this time around, far more people are paying attention. Back in 2001 and 2008, most Americans had absolutely no idea what a “Shemitah year” was. But now it is being talked about on some of the most prominent alternative news websites on the Internet. For example, the following is what Joseph Farah of WND has to say about the Shemitah year…
Farah believes the date Sept. 13, 2015 bears close watching – though he is quick to admit he has no idea what, if anything, will happen in America.
“A clear pattern has been established,” he says. “I don’t believe it’s a coincidence what happened in America on Elul 29 in 2001 and 2008. It would be foolish to ignore the possibility that a greater judgment might be in the works – especially if America continues to move away from God and His Word.”
The Shemitah year that we are in now does end on September 13th, 2015 – and that falls on a Sunday so the markets will be closed.
But what it comes to the Shemitah, we aren’t just looking at one particular day.
And it is very interesting to note that there will also be a solar eclipse on September 13th, 2015. Over the past century, there have only been two other times when a solar eclipse has corresponded with the end of a Shemitah year. Those two times were in 1931 and 1987, and as Jonathan Cahn has told WND, those solar eclipses foreshadowed major financial disasters…
In 1931, a solar eclipse took place on Sept. 12 – the end of a “Shemitah” year. Eight days later, England abandoned the gold standard, setting off market crashes and bank failures around the world. It also ushered in the greatest monthlong stock market percentage crash in Wall Street history.
In 1987, a solar eclipse took place Sept. 23 – again the end of a “Shemitah” year. Less than 30 days later came “Black Monday” the greatest percentage crash in Wall Street history.
Is Cahn predicting doom and gloom on Sept. 13, 2015? He’s careful to avoid a prediction, saying, “In the past, this ushered in the worst collapses in Wall Street history. What will it bring this time? Again, as before, the phenomenon does not have to manifest at the next convergence. But, at the same time, and again, it is wise to take note.”
So what is going to happen this time?
We will just have to wait and see.
But without a doubt so many of the same patterns that we witnessed just prior to the financial crash of 2008 are happening again right before our very eyes.
It has been said that those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Perhaps you believe that there is something to “the Shemitah”, or perhaps you think that it is all a bunch of nonsense.
But at least now you know what everyone is talking about. What you choose to do with this information is up to you.

In Arizona, written contracts of debt expire after the 6th year of no repayment: verble promises after the 3rd year. This is likely the case in other states, particularly California, as most Arizona law follows the precedents established in California.
So the concept of debt forgiveness is enshrined in American law. Just saying.
By the way, someone here has been saying for YEARS, that SHTF would occur in 2015 when others thought the sky was falling in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.

The feasts of the Lord are set by the Biblical calendar.
The Biblical calendar is based on the sun and the new moon. Jews are familiar with this calendar, as holy Feast days are set by it. Easter is a Christian holiday that is set by the Biblical calendar. That is why Easter is celebrated each year, but the actual date on our calendar varies – usually falls in March or April.
“These are the Lord’s appointed feasts, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times.” Leviticus 23:4
God said these are MY Feasts and specified when they are to be celebrated. The Feast days (Purim, Passover, Pentecost, Feast of Trumpets or Rosh Hashana, 10 Days of Repentance, Day of Atonement and Feast of Tabernacles) are set by using “God’s calendar” – which is based on the sun and the moon.
Our calendar is based on the sun. The Muslim calendar is based on the moon.
Shemitah is a time when debts are to be forgiven and the land in Israel was to be given a rest. Farmers in Israel are to fulfill the Shemitah (or Shmita) every 7th year by letting the land rest. There is no planting or plowing or harvesting during the year. Whatever produce that grows can be picked and collected by anyone. (See Exodus 23:10-11, Leviticus 25:20-22)
The current Shemitah cycle began on September 25, 2014 and will complete on September 13, 2015.
The final day of the Shemitah year is of great significance. Note the Shemitah dates in 2001 (Sept. 17) and 2008 (Sept 29).
Sept. 17, 2001, was the beginning of the economic calamity associated with 9/11 and the lowering of interest rates by the Fed resulting in the collapse of the stock market Sept. 17, 2001 – Elul 29 on the Hebrew calendar.
Likewise, Sept. 29, 2008, marked the next big crash. Sept. 29, 2008, also fell on Elul 29.
Elul 29, 2015, (September 13, 2015) begins of the Feast of Trumpets or Rosh Hashana at sundown. (All Feasts begin at sundown and will end at sundown on the appointed days.) The Feast of Trumpets begins 10 days of repentance, that lasts through Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement).

September 13, 2015 also begins the year of the 70th Jubilee. 70 is a prophetic number. Liberation is the central theme of Jubilee.
A year of Jubilee is celebrated once every 50 years, following the last year of seven Shemitah cycles. In Jubilee, ALL debts are supposed to be cancelled and all land is supposed to be returned to its original owner.

Of that day no man knoweth, refers to the feast of trumpets. Jesus said this to give a hint for believers. In those days it was not possible for the astrologers to calculate the day, it had to be observed.
Yom Teruah is the only festival that no man knows when exactly it will occur. This is due to the fact that it begins on the new moon. The new moon was sanctified when two witnesses see the new moon and attest to it before the Sanhedrin in the Temple.This sanctification could happen during either of two days, depending on when the witnesses come. Since no one knew when the witnesses would come, no one knew when the Feast of Trumpets would start.
It will be an important date, but don’t read too much else into it.
You may be “refer[ing] to the feast of trumpets,” but that was NOT Jesus Christ’s reference in Matthew 24:36.
In Matthew 24:36 Jesus Christ, True God and True Man, Messiah, Who can neither deceive nor be deceived, foretells the destruction of the temple, with the signs that shall come before it and before the last judgment. We must always watch, but “no man knoweth” the day of the End. No fortune telling. Matthew 24:36 in not about “New Year’s Day.”
Contrary to your assertion that no man knoweth the day of Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashanah, any man can look at the calendar and know that day.

Easter is the day we celebrate and remember that Jesus rose from the dead, after being hung on a cross and had died.
For heavens sake, all the great posts you make (although some of them MSM or from the system aka matrix) you would do yourself and your family a favor to do a little research on the pagan holidays.
We still celebrate Jesus’ resurrection on that day, but we as a family have absolutely nothing to do with the word Easter or any of the traditions of men that come with it. We call it Resurrection day and we do a treasure hunt with the kids with the empty tomb always being at the end and some small gifts. No Easter and especially no eggs….that pagan man tradition is as evil as the day is long.
Now my boss and co-worker (best friends) and I are starting to really study Gods Biblical festivals and only celebrating them. And looking into how the whole sunday sabbath came about, I think in Constantines era and how screwed up it is. Meaning; we will not have anything to do with sunday worship again.

Babylon is in Saudi Arabia, in a LITERAL DESERT. Having seven hills is not enough to make a city the Great Ho! But American Christians think that the entire Bible revolves around the Potomac River, and that the Evangelicals alone are the redeemed.

Jonathan Cahn is right that there is a Shemitah year, but wrong about when it is, when it starts, and why the economic crashes happened when they did.
God promised that Israel would have a crop that would produce a super-yeild on the sixth year so they’d have food for that year, the next year which was a Shemitah year, and the following year when the new crop was growing.
When Israel did not keep the Shemitah year, God did not give the sixth year increase. If they still failed to keep it, He’d then reduce the Sixth year crop and finally give them crop failure (or cause it by drought, locusts or something else) all together, for disobeying Him, while still requiring they keep the Shemitah year.
So the Shemitah year in this cycle is on Aviv 1, 2016. And since we haven’t been keeping the Sabbitical years, we can expect economic collapse this year in 2015, yet still have the requirement of Shemitah in 2016. And the new year always starts on Aviv 1 when the barley is Aviv, not on the Feast of Trumpets; this is very clear in the Scriptures.
Mr. Cahn, unfortunately, is encumbered by Jewish tradition rather than Scriptural knowledge, or he’d know and teach these things.
Most of us preppers are ready for this, all we need to know now is to keep the Sabbitical year of 2016 (starting on Aviv 1) by not eating the crop produce of that year (2016), and living off of our preps, and forgiving debts.
The next Sabbitical cycle starts in 2017 and goes for seven more years to 2023, and these are the years the blood moons and solar eclipses point to as the years of war, famine and disease – punishments for not keeping God’s Law, His Torah, or “right-teachings.” We can expect all these things to come upon us during this cycle, from 2017 through 2023. Then 2023 being the next Shemitah, then 2030, then begins the great tribulation 2031-2033.
Keep the Shemitah year of 2016 (and 2023 and 2030) and all of God’s laws so His punishments don’t come upon you, when all hell breaks loose upon the US and the UK for their disobedience.

The law of the Shemitah is no longer applicable today for two reasons: first the law was for the covenant people of God, being the people of Israel at that time (not for Romans, Syrians, or Gentiles.). The law of the Shemitah was a covenant that if Israel followed they would be blessed and if ignored they would be punished. It had no effect upon the Gentiles since the Gentiles made no covenant with God and were intact ignorant of God’s existence. IF he law of Shemitah were still in practice today, (which it is not for a reason I will explain momentarily) it would only apply to the covenant people of God (Israel) not to the Gentiles of whom we are.
Second the law of the Shemitah, along with the entire law of Moses, was fulfilled through the atonement and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. For example burnt offerings were no longer required as they were symbolic of the sacrifice of God’s only begotten. Christ taught that instead of a burnt offering we were to “offer a broken heart and contrite spirit,” as his mission was to fulfill the law of Moses and institute a new, higher law, (as the law of Moses was a preparatory law.)
In summary, the Shemitah, in the context above is misunderstood as it only pertained to the Covenant peoples of God in its time. It was fulfilled, along with the entire law of Moses through the mission and atonement of Christ, and is no longer relevant today.
While I DO believe the bible contains warnings and signs of the times, The Shemitah is not one of them, though it is interesting to learn the history, and I do believe that 2015 will a game changer, and am increasing my preps accordingly, as there are too many tall tell signs not to do otherwise.
Shemitah falls in the same category as the “red heifer” baloney.

You’re wrong on both points. First there are 13 tribes of Israel, of which Judah (the Jews) is only one. Today, people refer to Jews as everyone that was from the Southern Kingdom, Judah, Binjamin and some of the Levites that lived there. That leaves out the entire Northern Kingdom. That Northern Kingdom is what eventually moved North through the Causcas Mountains to populate Europe and the new world. Sorry for the late relply, I was not reffering to the twelve tribes, but to the people who had litterally entered into the specific covenants with God: The Romans, Syrians, Samaritans ect. and all those who did not believe in God, or enter into the covenants were not efected by the Shemitah in biblical times, and IF the Shemitah were still in effect today it would be the same. Your refrence to John 14 is too vague. Using your logic we should continue to offer burnt sacrifices in Temples, stone adulters ect. Once again; Christ fulfilled the law of Moses, in Matthew 5 Christ himself explains this.
To reiterate; the law of Moses was fulfilled, and covenants only effect those who take upon themselves the name of Chirst and commit to follow them.

For me I prep. The same way I buy car insurance for the accident I hope never happens, fire insurance for the fire I hope never happens, life insurance for death I hope never happens 😉 etc. In the meantime I also play golf, race cars, and enjoy times on the water with friends and family. FreedomFighter: No one would disagree that it is prudent to be prepared for many of the usual, and the occasionally unusual, calamities of life. That of course starts with insurances as you mentioned. It would also include sensible preparations for other disasters as well. I’ve lived in different parts of the world and have been through large hurricanes (USA) and typhoons (far east) as well as floods, draughts, large fires, and earthquakes. I too have food, including dried foods, water, water purification, extra medicines and a few medical supplies, as well as self defense. But I don’t have a large basement full, or some country/mountain hideaway/compound either to wait our any possible scenario that could come along. I certainly don’t spend a large part of my day, or even week/month worrying about every little news story that could possibly be the trigger for the end of the world either. Many on this site are reasonable people. I was speaking to those who are actually desirous of a collapse and hang on ever new pseudo-prediction that comes along. There is being prepared and then there is going full-on nuts survivalist. Those are the ones that are hoping with every fiber of their being that their years of prepping, not to mention their large expenditures in time and money, will be justified. With every failed prediction from 2008 until today, these folks become angrier and more desperate. They are the ones that become so angry whenever anyone here points out a fallacy in these predictions rather than pointing out, in a an intelligent and civilized manner, why they believe any argument has merit. This is an unjustified smear of prudent people called preppers. I weary of specific predictions. But being ready is justified. Look at 2008, and how many people were caught unaware. As far as your crazy survivalist stereotype, that’s just silly. Anyone who gives up on prepping probably was doing it for,the wrong reasons in the first place. And rampages? No way. Lots of preppers are living healthy happy lives. There are a million benefits to living this way besides preparedness.
Professor, it’s sad but you’re correct. There are many that are calling for what they describe as the ” Great Reset”, whatever that means. Ostensibly some kind of world ending or calamitous event that wipes out a large portion of humanity. Then they can rise up from the ashes and gleefully claim ” I told you so but wouldn’t listen to me!” This type of fantasy ignores the fact that they also enjoy a modern standard of living, complete with all the conveniences offered that they will sorely miss, if even survive, this great reset. I read where some believe it will simply be a trip back in time to the 19th century way of living, but that sounds like a romantic fantasy, it will probably resemble more of 15th century lifestyle for quite a long time. You can have supplies that may last for 10 years or more, but somewhere along the line they’re going to run out and then people will find out just how pleasant a subsistence lifestyle truly is, with no weekends off and considerably shorter lifespans than we ave today. Be careful what you wish for,you just might get it.

But I certainly don’t hang my hat on every little prediction that comes along, especially ones from ancient Hebrew texts. What’s next, tea leaves? I lived in a third world country for some years and I quickly became aware of the fragility of life in the modern world. Frequent power outages along with large storms (typhoons) and tainted water supplies, etc. I too learned to adjust to the harsh realities of living in the last century. Carrying 1 or 2 5 gallons water jugs from a safe source every 4-5 days. Even 1/2 mile is tough in the tropical sun (40-80lbs.) is tough. But my arms got incredibly strong after a few months. There are those of you who are indeed prudent, but there are some here that are actually hoping for a Red Dawn/Mad Max/The Road world, they were the ones I was addressing. By the way, I do enjoy doomer fiction in books and at the movies, but I certainly don’t wish for it having had just a little taste in my youth. No sane person would.

I was smart enough to find a few analysts that correctly laid out the reasons for the coming collapse of 2007-2008 and I made adjustments in my investments accordingly. Mac, I can accept the theory behind cyclical work, but I have never bought into the idea of setting dates for any type of event. I’m not so sure we’ll make it to the fall, but I could be mistaken. I agree that a massive paradigm shift on a global scale is coming, but just don’t know when.

Please understand, I am not trashing Pastor Cahn, I think very highly of him. I am simply pointing out the he made some errors in the calculation of the sabbatical years. HE IS CORRECT about the financial problems that might be associated with the end of 2015 and beginning of 2016. He also did not tell people how to protect themselves in 2016, the true sabbatical year and I have endeavored to do that.

Thanks for asking. Most people don’t care. I had a list of 7 things that needed to be done to keep the sabbatical year:
1.) Do not plow or plant;
2.) Do not harvest;
3.) Eat whatever grows of itself;
4.) Stock up on food until the next harvest (in this case 1 Abib 2017;
5.) Forgive the debts of your brethren;
6.) Free those who become YOUR slave;
7.) Read the entire Torah during the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). (This more or less goes hand in hand with II Chron. 7:13-15)
Or, you can say “NOT” and forget about it and go on your way. The choice is yours. As far as me and my house we will keep the Sabbatical year.

I love studying eschatology and was researching a lot of things surrounding what’s occurred over the past two decades. I’ll be the first to admit Rabbi Cahn’s revelations are nothing less than jaw dropping. For me, a long time prepper and Christian, I can’t say there’s a better day to call it by than the date given above. Personally, I’ll be calling it just before and heading out.

The Jews use a Lunar calendar based on the movements of the moon. All Biblical dates for Sabbath’s and Festivals and Feast’s are based on a Solar Calendar. Proof of this is found in the beginning of the Bible where it establishes the ‘day.’
Gen 5-And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Gen. 8- And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
This theme of ‘The evening and the morning’ are significant in their order. The solar ‘day’ begins and ends at noon when the sun is at zenith.

Shemitah laws do not apply for Christians, for the New Testament says we are not under the Mosaic laws because Jesus absolves it through his resurrection. It is not in the New Testament, but Shemitah law does apply to the Jews.
If the Jewish bankers don’t follow their Mosaic laws, God could bring punishment upon them if they don’t practice relinquishing of debts according to their own laws. Problem is there are a lot of Shemitah dates that passed by WITHOUT consequences where the Jewish people did not relinquish debts, especially in the last century.
If anything causes the big collapse, in the end it is greed created by the central Banks in their massive derivative market for high risk investments. There will be a lot of dominoes in the game and the central banks are the largest and the last dominoes to go down to cause a collapse. All it takes is the first one to fall and the rest follow. We saw this in 2008, banks giving out loans to anyone to make interest money when the rates fell to 5% and then bundling these bad loans and selling them to unsuspecting banks, knowing these will fail. I see it as a natural event because God hates greed, and why it can’t be sustained.
Jesus did not do away with the law, he came to fulfill the law. What was done away with is the priest system and sacrificing or tithing ten percent.

The financial markets have been rigged by the power elite, so as one single event will usher in a global financial meltdown, followed by the worst depression in human history. That event is scheduled for late October, 2016….just weeks before the presidential election. Obama will then “temporarily” suspend the elections due to the “crisis”, enact price controls, and soon after declare marshal law as the masses revolt. Of course, there will never be another election. And you know the rest of the Story. !!!!!
