Nowhere to Hide: Did Doctor Doom Marc Faber Just Abandon Gold?

Do you LOVE America?

Well known economist and publisher of the Gloom, Boom and Doom Report, Doctor Marc Faber, raised eyebrows this morning when the long-time proponent of being your own central bank was quoted by Bloomberg as saying that the coming crisis will be so severe that you won’t even be able to hide in gold.

So we are creating bubbles and bubbles and bubbles. This bubble will come to an end. My concern is that we are going to have a systemic crisis where it is going to be very difficult to hide.

Even in gold, it will be difficult to hide.

As a well respected contrarian investment adviser, Faber’s comments will no doubt be used by those who shun gold as a wealth protecting investment vehicle to scare those who have taken financial shelter in the 5,000 year old medium of exchange. In fact, in the Faber Bloomberg interview host Alix Steele actually claims that gold has “not held up as a safe haven,” an asinine statement considering that the precious metals has risen precipitously to new all-time highs from a price of $750 per ounce during the throes of the financial crisis in 2008, to about $1600 today.

But did Faber really mean that gold as a store of wealth is no longer viable?

Has he abandoned his long-time principles of owning hard assets during financial, economic and political turmoil?

    Hardly.

For the last five years he has vehemently argued that all currencies are doomed, except for gold:

In today’s world, all paper currencies are not particularly desirable. All governments will print money. All governments will have fiscal stimulus packages as soon as something goes wrong. And all paper currencies will lose in their purchasing power. So, there’s only one ultimate currency and these are precious metals, specifically gold. (May 5, 2010)

But Faber is a realist, thus there is more to his recent views than the notion that you won’t be able to hide in gold for safety.

Faber is not suggesting you shouldn’t own gold, he’s highlighting how serious of a crisis we’re actually in, something the mainstream media won’t touch with a ten foot pole.

He has long predicted a collapse so severe that it could realistically spiral into a widespread global war, a situation where gold may be difficult to trade simply because traditional systems of commerce will have essentially been destroyed. According to an interview from late 2012, Marc Faber says that we may well see World War III within the next five yearsΒ and he has advocated for not just investing in gold, but assets that will matter when life as we know it today no longer exists:

…he says buy a farm you can tend to yourself way out in the boondocks. And protect it with high voltage fences, barbed wire, booby traps, military weapons and Dobermans. (August 2010)

Thus, as howling mainstream media pundits will point to Faber’s “turn” on gold as evidence that this relic is no longer worthy of investment, understand that Faber’s ideas cannot be summed up in a single sound bite.

We are dealing with a large scale global collapse that will affect every single person on this planet.

It’s going to be violent, and as Faber notes, may involve a downed electricity grid, poison in our water supplies, dirty bombs and a crash of the internet infrastructure.

And just to reiterate where Marc Faber stands on gold, he made it pretty clear in February of 2010 when he said, “The One Thing I Will Never Do in My Life is Sell My Gold.

Take Faber’s non-mainstream filtered advice. Be your own central bank and stock up on hard assets – farm land, a means of food production, security measures, precious metals, and anything else that can’t be papered over.

URGENT ON GOLD… as in URGENT

It Took 22 Years to Get to This Point

Gold has been the right asset with which to save your funds in this millennium that began 23 years ago.

      1. Invest in lead.

        • Invest in all precious metals: gold, silver, brass, steel, lead. Things are going to get bad: as bad as the fall of Rome, as bad as the Black Death, as bad as the Mongol invasions, as bad as Nazi aggression and Evil Empires. Know what ALL those mega disasters had in common?

          GOLD held its value
          SILVER held its value
          TOOLS held their value
          WEAPONS held their value
FOOD and WATER held their value

SCRAPS OF PAPER — whether they were treaties, government or corporate promises, or fiat currencies — became worthless

          • RICH MAN’S GOLD

There once was a rich man who was near death. He was very grieved because
he had worked so hard for his money and he wanted to be able to take it
with him to heaven. So he began to pray that he might be able to take some
of his wealth with him. An angel hears his plea and appears to him and
said, “Sorry, but you can’t take your wealth with you.” The man implores
the angel to speak to God to see if He might bend the rules.

The man continues to pray that his wealth could follow him. The angel
reappears and informs the man that God has decided to allow him to take
one suitcase with him. Overjoyed, the man gathers his largest suitcase and
fills it with pure gold bars and places it beside his bed.

Soon afterward the man dies and shows up at the Gates of Heaven to greet
St. Peter. St. Peter seeing the suitcase says, “Hold on, you can’t bring
            that in here!”

But the man explains to St. Peter that he has permission and asks him to
verify his story with the Lord. Sure enough, St. Peter checks and comes
back saying, “You’re right. You are allowed one carry-on bag, but I’m
supposed to check its contents before letting it through.”

St. Peter opens the suitcase to inspect the worldly items that the man
found too precious to leave behind and exclaims,

            “You brought pavement?”

            • I highly doubt he has sold his gold holdings. I’m sure when the time comes they “May” attempt confiscation, especially in the U.S. But I doubt he has sold.

          • So true SOS. I have redneck gold, lead and toilet paper, it to never loses value!!

          • You are right: I work all over the world and I have built up a ‘super-crappy currencies’ collection in a corner of my office. It is stacked with rather odorous paper currencies from some wild places in the world. They are colourful at times, crinkled, portray ‘famous people’ I have never heard of and have interesting stains and smells. But the one thing they all share is this: they are next to worthless and aren’t even good for wiping your ass.

          • Faber is on Sprout’s board. He better believe in metals. I wonder where his “farm” is at. He’s never there. He is always on TV. Just an observation.

Invest in gold; speculate in silver; and hoard your lead. They won’t be making anymore of it after the Changes. You will need to resupply your stash of lead from the dead bodies of “blue helmets”.

Engage your employees or be disarmed by them.

            • DK: Marc Faber is a Swiss citizen who resides in Chaing Mai, Thailand which is in the hill country up north. And yes, he says he has a fram there. He’s way off the beaten path so he’s about as safe as one can get. Jim Rogers is another one. He’s an American who lives in Singapore. “It’s good to be the king”.

          • Paper peace treaties are devised simply to allow the signatories to rearm. Lasting peace is only achieved when one side is pounded to the point of being unable to continue fighting.

        • If you’re not already invested in that particular area, best of luck to you going forward. I just saw the ‘whopping’ 10 box shipment of 22LR sell for $65 a brick at the local shop. I never thought I’d ever see such a thing.

          • @ HisArmsWide –

CTD has the same 640 round ‘spam-can’ of 7.62X39mm ammo that used to cost $118.00 + shipping AVAILABLE today for a mere $449.49 + shipping. If you don’t already have IT, you are going to pay through the nose for any ammunition that is available. I’ve heard rumors of 50 round boxes of .22 lr selling for upwards of $12.00!??? (not personally verified)

I think that the good Dr. Doom is attempting to suggest that most of us have no real idea of the potential severity of our impending trials and tribulations. Instead of just one catastrophic emergency, society could be ‘slapped’ with multiple emergencies from several different directions at once.

War has always been the “MACHINE’S” favorite fall-back option. Beat the drums of nationalism and whip up that them there patriotic fervor amongst the masses. Please don’t allow your sons, daughters and grandchildren to be conscripted into any military or paramilitary type of an organization.

And if some asshole should happen to mention anything to do with what they will call “your patriotic duty” to you??? Quickly reach behind yourself and grab yourself by the cheeks of your ass, turn and run screaming away into the darkness!!

Your kids and grand-kids will get their notices to report for induction ……. their kids will get their acceptance letters to college and notices of their deferment from the draft until they finish their education. You would be surprised at just how long some of them could spend in college while Vietnam was happening. It’s ALWAYS the rich man’s war that the poor man’s sons, and now daughters, have to march away to fight.

God Bless and good luck to all who post here. (sorry for the rant)

            • MM-
They may not be “marching away” for this one.

              • That’s true. More countries hate the U.S. than ever, and they know we’ve been weakened.

            • i remember seeing a bumper sticker when i was younger ,it was during the vietnam war ,it said “what if they had a war and nobody came”

        • Thank you for sharing, Satori!

        • The Global Elite Are Very Clearly Telling Us That They Plan To Raid Our Bank Accounts

“what happened in Cyprus is just the tip of the iceberg. All over the planet major financial institutions are being incredibly reckless with client money. They are leveraged to the hilt and they have transformed the global financial system into a gigantic casino.”

          http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/the-global-elite-are-very-clearly-telling-us-that-they-plan-to-raid-our-bank-accounts

          • Yeah, and in a casino, the house takes all ties.

        • So, I wonder if we can say that a bank that holds a mortgage on our house is now an investment and their equity depends on the value increase of the property or amount taken in, in yearly food stuffs grown, or what ever the hell we decide it to be

      2. However, I did just save a bundle of money on my car insurance!

        • He is laying out the fact the coming crisis will be so omninous and omnipotent the very fabric of civil society will be at risk. It will be all encompassing and systemic threatening rule of law with total anarchy and nobody where ever they are with any provision will be able to hide or ride it out.

An economic collapse or War in either order wil facilitate the other. Expect every horror imanginable whenever this occurs as it could occur anytime now. There are just too many natural and man made variables at play right now pushing the world to the brink.

Seems everything is just waiting for that spark…

          • You’re talking more catastrophic carrying capacity overshoot and die off, a-la Easter Island, is what you’re talking. 90% reduction in population in an impossibly short timespan.

I think if that shit went down, you’d be looking at 100% die off. Our environment is too toxic now to be dealt with by small bands of individuals.

It can’t be THAT bad. Yet. I was rather hoping to croak of old age before that went down.

            • I see too many boiling points and any one of them could set off all of them. Very easily a mideast or korean conflict could ignite a world war. A world war could easily involve economic and cyber warfare decimating infrastrucutre and financial institutions. Nuclear escalation either tactical or widespread could follow with it.

That’s just a pretty straightforward scenario where all hell can break loose. You can never forget a black swan event followed by an attack by our enemies if we appear to be weak.

For example a new madrid eq or a la palma eruption followed by a tsunami would be devastating to America. And as we withdraw from around the world a power vacuum is filled by our enemies who could even seize the opprtunity to attack not only our interests around the world but our assets at home and abroad.

I view what will happen as a cascading set of events all devastating in their own right and could be managed if occured by itself individually but my fear is that one event will trigger another and so forth and just overwhelm our ability to cope and respond.

              • Yeah, you’re right, wolfe. Scientists from different fields are predicting a convergence of crises– they’re all tied in together– economic crisis, oil crisis, climate crisis, political crisis, water and food crisis…

As Mike Ruppert says, “grow up or die, evolve or perish”.

                • Exactly, and theyre all tied together and like dominos will facilitate the fall of another.

              • …and the masses have sat on their asses watching american idol as the gauntlet was thrown down….

You know, if I went to hell tomorrow, since God is just, I’d figure I must have earned it. But God isn’t sending us to this hell. Bankers and their puppets, greedy politicians and the stupid masses are doing this.

While not without sin, we didn’t earn this. We, as preppers and God-fearing Christians have been staring the Devil in the eye for generations. We have been battling the minions both for ourselves and those who can’t bear arms in battle.

I don’t believe it’s over and there is no way out. The way out won’t be pleasant, but the door will be opened just the same. I just hope we recognize the way out when we see it.

              • im down by the everglades ,its been in the 30’s for the last 3 nights ,im having problems getting things to germanate in my garden that should have already been 2 or 3 weeks into there growth i should be having 70 deg nights by now ,my point is if this is what im dealing with down here ,how far behind the curve is this going to put our corn and other crops in the mid west behind ,and will this create another year of low surplus , maybe it has come to that time where the 7 sick cows are about to consume the 7 healthy cows

          • Are you posting from the Kremlin?

          • I would almost bet that there will be another war break out, then the govt will place restrictions on everything and raise the tax rates to take anything more than what a minimum wage would pay, all in the name of war time, all investments will be rolled into war bonds,
They have done some of this before, theyll do it again, fuel rationing food rationing, clothing etc

            • Of that you can be sure. As long as America is America, we will always be at war. Ours is the only military since the Roman that expects and plans for an eternal state of war.

        • that’s serious stuff

I changed companies and saved $80 a month

thats almost $1000 a year that now goes to preps !

        • Big deal! A caveman could do it.

      3. store your wealth …

pm’s precious metals are a ways and means to store your personal wealth , nothing more .

ensure you invest your worthless fake fiat AmeriKan dollars $$$ wisely in other real things of value that will ensure your and your family’s survival in a complete collapse environment for a period of 3 months to a year .

if your still holding dollars you have no one else to blame but yourself when you perish with the dollar .

        ~Liberty

        • You’ll surely need way more than 3 months to a year if WWIII breaks out. Life as we know it would be gone in literally an instant.

          • Not necessarily. When WWII broke out the people of England thought they would see problems right away. It took months before shortages and problems started to show up. But that gave them time to start planning and saving supplies and rationing.
Private gardens and estates were ordered to tear out any flowers or ornamentals and replace them with food crops. Home gardens were converted from lawn to crops and rabbits and chickens were put into back yard sheds.
Of course that did not involve nuclear war or biological weapons. And the rule of law remained in England.

            • a, what about ndaa, taking over food stores, gardens, supplies, etc.etc. if they wanted us to be smart they would not have signed that stuff, WW11 was a different time,

        • You should only buy gold AFTER you have tools of defense, food, seed, means of farming/gardening, water supply.
Without those your gold will have minimal value.

      4. Some friends have 12 acres, chickens, goats, a garden. They have some PM’s, an AR & ammo, water source, no debt, in short very well prepped. Then I asked them what was the plan if they had to immediately vacate with less than 24 hr notice. Silence. They had never contemplated the possibility.

The point is that what is coming is nothing short of complete and total chaos. Should we prepare? Of course. However just as important as our physical preps are our mental & spiritual preparation. We will be tested.

        And it has started.

        • Slap, if people have to vacate, where they going to go? TPTB have created a web or net that is flush with enemies. It is better to know your area and fight than to be on the run to areas less familiar to an individual(s).
Granted, some will survive better on the run but the majority will be easy pickins/prey for the criminals.

          • I get really annoyed with people that think that their bugout bag is the primary prep. A bugout bag is “what you are taking with you as you become a refugee”

I have bugout preps but they are so far down the list that they are almost irrelevant.

#1 everyday carrry stuff (including good walking boots)
            #2 get-back-home gear
            #3 lots of bug-in stuff
            #4 even more bug-in stuff
            #5 homesteading stuff

            #x bugout stuff

Read some accounts of former refugees and see how well they fared… You won’t find too many because most did not make it.

Having bugged-out from the African continent, I can say I only did it after burying family members. Since there are not many American dreams left, I don’t wish to do it again.

            • Hell, I’ve even got a BOC (bug out cup) for going from room to room. It has a certain amount of ice, John Daniels (at least five fingers), and a splash of Coca-cola. Cheers!

              • Bug out cup. That is awesome. Thanks for the laugh.

            • Thanks for posting for us. Great understanding you share.

            • @Anon
Real good point, sort of goes along with yesterdays article, being a refugee would SUCK!
IF you could get out into the toolies with your 4x4truck and a bunch of stuff you may be able to make it,
if your on foot and with only what you can carry……good luck you most likely will be screwed in short order, i know i wouldnt last too terribly long, just a feeling i get, wont matter how good with survival stuff anyone is, if everything comes unglued there will be 500 others who have thought about your same remote hidey hole, real good chance it will be like extreme gang warfare with a dose of agro paranoid government operators thrown in. Itll be a mess no matter what, a few days and anyone you see will most likely be gunning for you just to see what you got that they could use.

          • DRD5508,

If I found myself on the run, a ‘refugee’, it would be hell. I pray that we (wife, 3 young ones) have chosen our current locale wisely. You’re right of course, there is no where to run this time. We are all backed in to the proverbial corner. No, this one is for the whole enchilada.

          • Amen im in SWFL i have friends say ,well if it goes down im going to the mountains ,(having lived here there whole life)i ask them have you cut fire wood in 15deg weather do you know what to hunt ,where to get water ,best stay where you know what your doing and know your ground ,all the roads , the lay of the land ,a SHTF grid down when your kids are looking to you to feed them ,is no time to start learning everything thing you know all over again,
not to mention we’re flat landers ,ive climbed mountians ,you better by god be in good shape ,it ain’t the same as walking a flat line through the everglades

            • I agree. Me, wife, and 4 kids are going underground under our home. Big old farm house that I will turn into a big pile of boarded up trash that nobody will want to get near for fear of getting trapped. If they do try to enter they will not get out. Have lots of canned food, water (under the house) and ammo. If major SHTF happens my motto will be Gooks are in the wire.

        • I have made my peace with the fact I will die on my 15 acres if need be. I am too old to be wandering around scraping up food. I live or die here, that is where I draw the line. If it gets too bad, I will send my children and grandchildren to start over. I will offer cover fire for them to get away

          • You will not be alone even if no one else is there.

            • Amen

            • +1, you will not be alone.

              Molon Labe

          • I feel ya bud,
Have talked about this stuff with the family and we are sort of on that same line of thought, none of us could make it as refugees, moms too old, and im no Rambo and my significant other wants me to just put her out. Obviously cant do that,,,,
But here we live, and here we will die, if were going it will all get burned by the last one here.

          • Amen ,ive worked my little spread for the last 32 years ,im not going anywhere ,we’re AMERICANS we dont get on boats and jump fence’s and leave our country when the times get lean ,freedom isnt just somthing to me ,it is everything ,ive had a big pc. of the american pie in my life and it was good ,i owe it to my grandkids to see that they get a slice ,stand or fall im here

        • If we have to vacate we’re dead. We lose 95% of our food and 99% of our water. We live in a small town. We’ll take our stand here.

          • Barn Cat ~

Obviously it’s far from ideal to be in a situation where you have to leave your home and your preps.

However, don’t concede defeat so easily. Your top preps are your skills and your adaptable survival mindset.

Have more faith in yourself. I know that I sure as heck don’t want to be a refugee, but if I am, I will do everything possible to survive and to ensure the survival of my children. I won’t just say, “I’m screwed” and give up. I hope that you won’t either!

            Daisy

            • I bugged out in 98.

            • @Daisy-
Thee are easy things for someone from another Country to proclaim.
Why don’t you go on Middle East blogs also and tell all THOSE people how to survive to. You seem to be a know it all. Teach the world how to survive from the comfort of your little hideaway… maybe they can also try to live off click thru’s on their own websites also like you have tried…

It’s all about the money to you guys….

Like Tom Cruise said… “show me the money”…….

You know not what you speak of.

              • Allie Troll

You know absolutely nothing about me.

I don’t make my living off of my website. I provide FREE information on my website. Yes, there are ads – the keep the site running but I’m sure not turning a big profit like you seem to think. I have a job with which I make a living. I make tons of homesteading mistakes and I write about them, honestly. I never tried to present myself as anything I’m not. I do live in a beautiful, wonderful, secluded place – isn’t that the dream of many preppers?

                Jealous much?

                Daisy

              • Allie,

There are preppers in all countries. We learn alot looking at situations from different perspectives. We (most of us anyway) appreciate those who offer us helpful information.

Daisy is an American who works and lives in Canada. She is kind and encouraging. She offers helpful information for FREE that she has learned. Thank you Daisy!

So, instead of attacking others, try offering something informative or useful to the conversation.

                Sincerely,
                KY Mom

          • Yep Barn Cat I am 5th generation of my family to live on these 140 acres and we will not be leaving either. We will fight and are prepared to die but we will do both here.

      5. It’s a little hard for a billionaire to hide his money. Me, any old aspirin tin will hold most of what I have,

        • lol…aspirin tin…what a relic. You must be as old as me. I remember losing faith in the system when my Bazooka Joe X-ray Specs didn’t see through the girl’s dresses. It’s been downhill ever since.

          • I think that gum was the beginning of the jaw problems i have today. Brutal…. but so sweet!!!!

          • JRS- Now THAT’S funny!
Sad part is, it reminds me of so many of life’s disappointments. Sea Monkeys that don’t look anyhthing like the cartoon advertisements. Atlas body building system that never worked. No wonder kids grew up to be cynical. They lied to us!

            • Yep….so very funny JRS.

I didn’t – but would have been the kid who bought into the ‘Little Orphan Annie decoder ring’ advertisement campaign… drink more Ovaltine. Haha..dang!

Yep, then one day the tiny light bulb goes off and you know it’s all just a scam. DH thinks I’m strangely suspicious about everything – and righteously so!

In the mean time — I hope everyone has a blessed Easter weekend.

            • Funny.. I sold seed packs for months from the back of a comic book and got some lousy model airplane that I was able to fly for about 2 minutes. I crashed it on the first landing. That was close to 50 years ago. Ripped off even back then.

              • But it made you grow up strong and careful

              • Thats funny, i remember doing the same thing, made a nuisance to the neighbors with the seed packs, then the first flight with the plane ended with it hitting the transformer on the pole in front of our house, whatr the odds, to make matters worse my pop worked for the power company, still remember that look of why???

            • @smokin’…..I have to laugh about the sea monkeys….I got them and had to use a magnifying glass to see ’em….
              fob

            • yea ,but there sure was some neat prizes in a box of cracker jacks back then

        • Paranoid, mine’s in an emptied prescription bottle!!!

      6. I just saw that the final revision for 2012 q4 ended up being at .4%
        A. that is nothing to be proud of
        B. I think the first numbers had us at -.2%
        C. The Government sure has a great numbers guy who can spin them out of trouble. NOT

        • Jim, that .4% GDP “growth” figure excludes inflation. With inflation added, GDP would be shrinking by at least -8%.

          • Always remember that GDP is a measure that includes ALL economic activity, including the cost of disasters, medical malpractice, pharma induced medical expense and all the other negative nasty shit. It could go negative and produce a world that waas better for most decent people. As for inflation, if the prices go up gdp goes up.

            • Hell, just the gun and ammo and supplies sales accounted for at least 1/8 of the gdp for q4

      7. Scary Shit, hard to imagine it’ll ever get that bad!

        • It will get that bad. The dollar will be destroyed by hyperinflation. The electrical grid will go down once people can’t afford their $5,000 electric bills. Government at all levels will go bankrupt. There won’t be any electricity, public water, police, fire, garbage pickup, or any government services whatsoever. Every business will close. Every city in America will become a dangerous hellhole where people fight over resources.

          • Just what is your basis for these claims?

You are making rather apocalyptic statements with the assurance of knowing something others don’t. Care to enlighten the rest of us?

            • The Fed is creating billions of new dollars every month out of thin air. Eventually we’ll have hyperinflation like Germany had in the 1920s. Hyperinflation is a 100% certainty. You should read this:

              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation

What happens are hyperinflation hits? Money becomes worthless. Nobody can buy food. People storm stores and loot them. Stores close. Goods stop being transported across the country. Government at all levels goes bankrupt. People in the inner city riot. The rest of the population stays calm a few more days until it becomes clear that the government isn’t going to help anybody. Then America becomes a post-apocalyptic nightmare. I expect 90% of America’s population to die in the year following the coming economic collapse. Why? Very few people are self-sufficient when it comes to food. People are dependent on public water, natural gas, and electricity. Maybe I’m being optimistic when I say, in effect, that 10% of Americans will survive.

Here is just one article about it:

              http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/some-of-the-really-bad-things-that-could-happen-if-you-do-not-prepare-for-the-coming-economic-collapse

          • Theyll just pass “ObamaVolt” and require us to purchase power we dont want need or recieve….all will be well…

          • @Barn Cat-

Your a very positive person huh?

With that attitude, why would one want to go on living.

Go for a walk. Look at the trees. Look at the birds. Relax. Enjoy. Have a Coke.

            • I just know what’s going to happen. I have no illusions about what’s going to happen in America in the very near future. I’m also prepared for it. I have what we need for me, my wife, my son’s family, and our combined 4 cats.

I’m also prepared for whatever it is that God has in store for me during the time I have left on earth. I hope to live long enough to see our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ come to take us home.

      8. Prepare for a return to the 1880s, even if we don’t…..

        • My stationary engineering skills might remain useful. I cut my eye teeth in a 1930s vintage power plant 35 years ago.

If things get as bad as Faber says the idea of owning anything has no merit because government will confiscate everything and anything. The Police will “Protect and Serve” their own personal interests. Maybe if you live in a self reliant community within a self reliant County within a self reliant State you might make it.

      9. Good God I hope and Pray he’s wrong.

      10. I used to regard stories like this to be alarmist in nature

        not any more

there’s just too much evidence to the contrary

The Global Elite Are Very Clearly Telling Us That They Plan To Raid Our Bank Accounts

        http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/the-global-elite-are-very-clearly-telling-us-that-they-plan-to-raid-our-bank-accounts

“”When it becomes serious, you have to lie,” Mr. Juncker said in April 2011. “If you have pre-indicated possible decisions, you are feeding speculation in the financial markets.”

        you have to WHAT ???

        LIE

“And calling it a “haircut” does not change the fact of what it really is. The truth is that when they confiscate money from our bank accounts it is outright theft. Just check out what the Daily Mail had to say about the situation in Cyprus…

People who rob old ladies in the street, or hold up security vans, are branded as thieves. Yet when Germany presides over a heist of billions of pounds from private savers’ Cyprus bank accounts, to β€˜save the euro’ for the hundredth time, this is claimed as high statesmanship.

It is nothing of the sort. The deal to secure a €10 billion German bailout of the bankrupt Mediterranean island is one of the nastiest and most immoral political acts of modern times.

It has struck fear into the hearts of hundreds of millions of European citizens, because it establishes a dire precedent.”

        it establishes WHAT ????

        “A DIRE PRECEDENT”

        • I still had some money in the bank until Cyprus(not a lot). Bare minimum now, that’s it

      11. Quote: “He has long predicted a collapse so severe that it could realistically spiral into a widespread global war, a situation where gold may be difficult to trade simply because traditional systems of commerce will have essentially been destroyed”.

That’s what I have been saying all along. This collapse could be SO severe that gold and silver might not be as valuable as a box of mac-n-cheese. Gold will be useful after we cross into the next paradigm.

      12. Had a gun show in Wyoming I was just at. Picked up a Glock 27 and a mess of ammo for what I already have. I sincerely hope I don’t have to use any of it beyond target practice, but the odds are slowly going against the average citizen. We may wake up one day to find the Dow at 8,000 and banks shutting their doors for a while.

I’ll be standing in line at the next Tanner show in Denver as well.

        • I’ll see you at the Tanner Gun Show, 4/27-4/28. Looking for a Ruger 10-22 and I hope some ammo.

What shows in WY do you go to? I haven’t been to any up there yet, since the Tanner Gun Show is so close and has almost everything. But with the new laws here in CO I may be looking for more than a gun show in WY, maybe some land and a job.

          • It was the Up In Arms show in Casper. I had to miss the last Tanner show to go up to Wyoming since they were the same date. But it was also a chance to take my nephew with me, and see family in that area.

The show was one quarter the size of Tanner, but the crowd was much smaller. I arrived thirty minutes early only to have five people ahead of me. I found some 223 for fifty cents a round. Also got some 40 cal.

Here is a calendar for Up In Arms:
            http://www.upinarmsgunshows.com/calendar1.htm

See you at the next Tanner.

        • Scout, did you have to have background check, etc?

          • GH,

It depends on who the seller is. If it is from an “authorized dealer,” there is paperwork to fill out. If it’s a private sale, there is no paperwork, hence no background check.

        • Wyoming……… oh yes, the great ReDoubt. Right smack on top of a huge United States Air Force Base.

          Good luck in your Wyoming.

      13. 1Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. 2Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. 3Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. 4Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. 5Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. 6Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

        • James, no doubt about it. Marc Fabor is no Prophet. You can invest in gold, or silver, or land, or food, or guns, or ammo, but you better invest in Jesus Christ first and foremost. Because all these things he writes about are going to come to pass. There will be total chaos, but there will be a man, rise to the ocassion and all that don’t know the true Lord will follow him. Any one that knows the Bible, knows this total world collapse was coming. So Deny at your own peril. GOD is a great believer in Freedom. But use your Freedom wisely. Trekker Out.

          • Amen Brother!

        • James 5,

Your post (it was the word ‘slaughter’) reminded me of something I read this morning. I am saddened and disgusted that anyone would even argue for such a thing.

SHOCK VIDEO: PLANNED ‘PARENTHOOD’ official argues for ‘post-birth’ abortion rights

“So, um, it is just really hard for me to even ask you this question because I’m almost in disbelief,” said Rep. Jim Boyd. “If a baby is born on a table as a result of a botched abortion, what would Planned Parenthood want to have happen to that child that is struggling for life?”

          The Weekly Standard
(also a link posted on Drudge Report)

          • Actually I have no problem. In fact, I know several people that I’d just as soon abort right now. Things that make you say hummmmm

      14. This may not have anything to do with this article, however, anyone who thinks the police are going to be benign and benevolent when SHTF needs to see this story:
        http://www.wistv.com/Global/story.asp?S=21802556
Evidently a supermarket was evicted from a building and the owners were told to dispose of their stock, the owners attempted to contact local churches, to no avail. People heard about all this food being piled up in the parking lot and they showed up, by the hundreds. The police also showed up and had ALL the food put into dumpsters and taken to the landfill!! This was NOT expired or tainted food, it was the stock that the owners had not sold yet. When I saw this story I was absolutely beside myself, I have worn a badge for over thirty years and I am disgusted with the actions of the local PD.

        • you been a cop for 30 years and this is the first time you woke up to the crap you guys in blue have been doing? how big is that rock they lay on top of you after the academy anyways?

SO the brainwashing contiues it would seem

stick around hoss, you might learn more about who you associate with, and further awake to reality..we can only hope

          • First of all, I have worked in the detention end of law enforcement, second of all, I am quite aware of the people I work with, and for the most part these people are professionals. Not to mention the fact that if I was brainwashed, I never would have been so absolutely appalled at what I witnessed, and I would also appreciate if you would refrain from insulting me, I come to this site primarily because the men and women here are more interested in the civil exchange of ideas and information.

            • @Chris Martel,

You have my respect as I do for most other law enforcement. But you know what they say about one bad apple. And boy howdy the media does like jumping on that one bad apple stories.

            • Yeah, ignore Blondie. She obviously is not helping, and would rather stand on a pedestal.

        • saw that.

they have the authority to throw it out, but not the authority to redistribute?

then again, there would be violent reaction if there was not enough to supplicate the crowd. If last year’s Christmas shopping is any indicator of how close we are to societal collapse..

          • They could easily have taken it into control and later given it to the local food bank. Their excuse is bogus

          • Any other time, cops have no problem with standing around.

      17. Does anyone have any GOOD news?????????

        • Associated Press (AP) is running a story Adam Lanza had a 12 gauge shotgun in his glove box along with 70 rounds of 12ga shotgun shells in two 35 round magazines.

          Sounds great to me!

          • I have a question: Can an young man carry all the weapons, mags, gear and then ‘fire 155 bullets in under five minutes in the rampage that killed 26 people including 20 children, according to a chief prosecutor cited by NBC News’.

I’m just wondering, because I’m very inexperienced, target practice not nearly enough; but this seems extraordinary in my humble thinking. I could see a skilled person firing repetitively; but I’m asking in the situation of the Sandy Hook event: a school, the anxiously nature of pulling this off, etc… jeez.. a robot maybe? I’m amazed and just wondering from more knowledgeable folk regarding the very sad facts involved.

            • You mean sandy hoax? Does that answer the question it didn’t happen. He doesn’t exist and the kids are alive.

              • @Jay Sea— Kind of like the Selco hoax huh?

Selco IS a hoax. Its a false flag event he speaks of. It never happened.

            • Yep you can do it, in some tactical training classes they make you carry 1000 rounds of 223, 8 mags plus 100 rounds of 12 gauge and the 12 gauge gun, plus a side arm and 200 rounds for that, plus 2 days food water and hygene stuff, and that is doable, so 4 30 rounders an ar 6-7 handgun mags and two handguns is nothing can carry that in an airsoft vest from amazon

          • Must have been one large glove box to hold a 12 ga shotgun.

          • a shotgun in his glovebox?

was the glovebox 6 feet long or the shotgun 6 inches long?

          • And this is the first anyone has heard of it. Would like to hear more about those 35 round shotgun magazines.

        • Today you are on the right side of the grass.

          • And so far a real good place to be.

        • @ 95ibgermank9. You ask is their any good news? Yes, there are still 1% of the population that is preparing and that still have common sense left. Another bit of good news, SHTFPLAN is up and running and the government has not shut it down and all the wisdom here expressed by all the wise minds on the site.

        • hello 95,
At one time I worried about most everything that could possibly go wrong,,collapse of society, currency, water suppies, air, kill zones zeroed in,enough ammo,etc.,etc.Then I remembered a line from a Tom Petty song,” most things I worry about don’t happen anyway”.I look back over my life and that verse has the ring of truth for me.As a 19yr.old infantryman in Vietnam I always believed I wouldn’t get hit,and guess what,I never got hit. With todays crisis around every corner prepping is a positive activity, yet I’ve prepped and now I kayak the beautiful spings, rivers and marsh areas of Florida.I’m happy,I’m living the life,I’m fishing,I’m looking at the girls and feeling the sunshine on my skin.Is that positive for ya,it is for me!!!

      18. O/T , sorry folks ,, but, just to wake up a few as to how they are being lied to or manipulated into thinking that a part of the government saying they cant get answers for the high number of ammo purchased by DHS

        its complete BS

        and heres why

        Section 9 Clause7 states,

“No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury , but in Consequence of Appropreations made by Law”( P.s. they didnt get the ammo for free)
Section 7 , Clause 1 states simply that the power of the purse is held exclusively by the House of Representatives.
Two powers here, to spend money or deny it being spent, so Unless the House initiates and passes an appropreation law, with concurrence by the Senate, not one cent of money can be spent by government..period

So when they tell you they didnt know DHS was buying up ammo, or why they were doing it..they are straight face LIYING TO ALL OF US!

also looking at this also tells me that this debt and spending problems rest soley with the House of Representatives, and I think Its High time they take the full responsibility of the fianancial hell we are burried into, up to our necks.

The federal law known as “The Anti-Deficiency act of 1884” provides punishment for such violations by “Officers or employees of the US Government”
        \see 31 USC sections 1341-42-49 and 50/

punishment for these acts as layed out is “suspension from duty without pay and or removal from office”
This current President has violated the Anti-Deficiency act. and Congress has done nothing to prohibit expenditure of funds.

        so to wrap this up

The bottom line is, that American problems with federal government are twofold with an executive branch that has violated the Constitution and federal laws and with Congress that has failed in responsibility.
The Senate has acted Illegally. and the House has abrogated its responsibilities by failing to act with any effect which by definition is illegal

        • Add to that all the representatives in both the house, senate and at the state or local level who are NOT abiding by their oath of office and we should be dumping the lot and starting over.

      19. But…but….but….Eisencrap says bitcoin is the way to go.

        • Bitcoin will be the way to go when we convince the populace that it doesn’t need governments or central banks involved in the economy after the great breakdown occurs. Anything that people accept as having value has value. Cash will be the most important thing during the collapse and gold will be the store of wealth.

          • You are really going to be fubarred when the grid goes down and all you have are imaginary Bitcoins.

Food, PMs, Land, Firearms, Ammo…not pretend computer money!

            ~ Daisy

            • Daisy, I once had a boss that had this saying: “I believe in giving a man enough rope to hang himself.”

A fool and his money are soon parted.

just get out of his way…..

“bitcoin” right ahead there, friend. let us know how it works out for you.

              • Barlow ~

I don’t really think I’m going to change his mind. But if newbies are reading, I’d like to present the opposite side of the (bit)coin. πŸ™‚

                Daisy

            • Snuggle bear,

I just got finished saying you should have several mediums of trade available to you. There’s no reason for you to totally exclude BITCOIN, is there? You could buy a few, what would that hurt?

The grid is not going to go down. If the grid goes down, you’re likely going to die no matter what items you have.

              • E ~

Why would I spend money on something that “might” hold value when I could spend that same money on something that I KNOW will have value? I’m way too cheap to gamble and my budget is far to small for finacial risk-taking.

Secondly, why on earth would you think someone who prepares would be likely to die if the grid goes down? That’s what prepping is all about! I have secondary sources of heat, light, water, sanitation, and food.

It may not be easy, but it can be done. Electricity has only been commonplace for the last hundred years. People got by just fine before, and some of us would get by just fine after.

                Daisy

                • eek – typo –

                  *far TOO small

                  • I wouldn’t have corrected YOU anyway, D. πŸ™‚

                • Princess,

Anybody can buy supplies. The overarching principle here is that you have to PREP FOR THE GOLDEN HORDE. What would happen if the power grid went down right now? It would be total mayhem and people would rip each other to pieces. I’m cheering on the economic collapse because it won’t be the end of my world, yet EVEN I AM PETRIFIED OF THE GRID GOING DOWN. Experts will tell you that 90% of the population would be dead within a year. You can’t survive that shit without a trained, motivated, victualled, and heavily-armed group. The grid is not going to go down.

                  • Eisenkreuz,

I would love to believe that the “it can’t happen here” approach is universally true. However, things are way too fragile to think that this would be the case. Don’t you think it would be better to prepare for such a scenario and risk it not happening, than the other way around? The former is a much lower risk by comparison.

                  • E ~

Your scenario means that 10% survive, however, and I fully intend that my children and I be in that 10%.

You can’t make a bad thing not happen by just sincerely wishing that it won’t. I know you’re aware of that, clearly, by what you’ve written. But to dispute the possibility puts you at a disadvantage.

                    Daisy

              • “The grid is not going to go down”

                “This ship can’t sink”

So Einstein….the grid isn’t going to go down. You know this how? Are you God? Are you some kind of genius that knows everything about the power grid and by the sheer force of your will you just know it’s going to stay up..notwithstanding any CME or EMP or even sabotage?

Gee….in all your limited years on this planet, how did you get to be so smart?

            • Eisencrap has been informed of this repeatedly. But like all fools, with him it doesn’t sink in. That’s because fools think they already know everything.

Eisencrap thinks we should exchange one form of fiat currency for another.

His thinking processes are a mile wide, and an inch deep.

              • It’s not a fiat curency, troll.

                • It’s a medium of exchange that is (supposed to be) a store of or represent value. Thus it IS a currency. Its only use is to represent value. Since it has no intrinsic value, it is fiat. (go look up fiat and try to understand what the word means)

                  Moron.

If you want to see a troll, go look in the mirror.

                  • A fiat currency is something that TPTB force you to use by royal decree. No one is forcing BITCOIN. People value it because of its intrinsic properties. I really wish you would grow up and speak like an adult.

                  • Look up ‘fiat’ and look up ‘intrinsic’.

I’m not going to do your homework for you moron.

                    bitcoin has NO intrinsic value.

It’s obvious that I’m not the one with the problem talking like an adult.

On the other hand, you seem to have a problem with understanding what words mean. The result of your fine public school education no doubt.

Have you learned to do your own research yet, or do you just follow the rest of the lemmings and jump on board with the newest thing, and think that makes you smart and sophisticated?

            • @ Daisy— and which of those do YOU have in your drafty little cabin……….. IN CANADA.

              • Allie Troll, I have everything I need in my drafty little cabin…IN CANADA. Everyone here knows where I live, so I don’t know what you think you’re proving by following me around saying it.

                • Don’t feed the trolls, babe. πŸ™‚

                  • Says the biggest troll on this website.

                  • Sez the troll.

          • Hey Dinglekrotch, I got a bitcoin bridge in Arizona I’ll sell you. Just follow the yellow bitcoin road.

        • While I’d never advocate investing in something that’s so easily destroyed as literally a collection of 1’s and 0’s, if you’d invested $1000 in bit coins at the start of this month and sold them today you’d have around $3000.

When the central banks look shaky people look for alternatives and bitcoins aren’t part of any central bank.

But just like FRN’s they only have a value that we decide they do.

      20. Buying hard assets is a good idea. The problem is,as they say, they don’t make em like they used too. Planned obsolesence is built into almost everything. Most modern tools won’t last but a couple years. I have been trying to get “antique-ish” implements for several years but they come at a price. I think in any type of collapse that Faber refers to, we will be f–ked, as tools used to be handed down from generation to generation and built to last. Places like Lehmans still sell quality stuff at a “quality price”. The exponential growth meme has made throw away junk popular. Ever hear of the Livermore light bulb?

        • Planktown Hardware 50 miles west has a better deal. not so good a selection

          • Paranoid, Just wondering. If and when you went to that gunshow in Casper. Were there any coin dealers with tables, and did you notice if or how much, Silver Dollar were selling for. Trekker Out.

            • Yes, Almost always the guy from Rock Springs. He works at the power plant, strange hours so sometimes he misses. Had a lot of PM’s prices always seem reasonable I get a little from him sometimes. Silver dollars are available around here for 32-35, Morgans are always a little above Peace. Junk has been about 25 to one If you look close, some want more.

        • I think I will be okay. I have a whole shop full of antique tools. Some of them were new back when I bought them.

        • JRS i call it mechanical advantage.some call it “tekking down”.i’m currently workin with an engineer friend to treadle power a table top lathe.skills, mechanical advantage, preps, gardens, orchards, and the manpower to hold it.keep going man! you got the right idea!

      21. The American Dream ended (on November 6th) in Ohio. The second term of Barack Obama will be the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind.

A coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Feminists, Gays, Government Workers, Union Members, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the “forever needy,” the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other “fellow travelers” have ended Norman Rockwell’s America.

The Cocker Spaniel is off the front porch…the Pit Bull is in the back yard.

The American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and Chicago shyster, David Axelrod, along with international Socialist George Soros will be pulling the strings on their beige puppet to bring us Act 2 of the New World Order.

Our side ran two candidates who couldn’t even win their own home states, and the circus fattster Chris Christie helped Obama over the top with a glowing “post Sandy” tribute that elevated the “Commander-in-Chief” to Mother Teresa status.

People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will never again comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired.

You will never again out vote these people. It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away. It will take Zealots, not moderates–not reach-across-the-aisle RINOs to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status.

Those who come after us will have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to “white guilt” and political correctness…..

        I’m done.

        • That is the most spot on statement I’ve seen in a long time, my friend! You Sir, are a patriot.

        • …someone once said to the effect “fananticism in defence of liberty is no vice…time to be a zealot for liberty,no quarter asked and certainly none given!

        • Watchman….

One of the most eloquent statements of truth that I have heard in a long, long time.

          You are right on target.

I have stated repeatedly that the government of this country is no longer legitimate. Or perhaps I should say, it is as legitimate as the British Crown was in the 1770’s.

        • Wow, I agree that was a awesome post! The content is all so true and all so sad! This country has been sucked dry by sellouts and parasites and left in the wake is despair.

        • Watchman wrote, “You will never again out vote these people. What we need is a nation-wide cull.

      22. Some of this reminds me of the good ol”days when a bunch of my friends and me would be at the waterfront with a bonfire roasting hot dogs and marshmallows.
We would tell scary lies to see who could scare each other the worst.
It was scary enough to be way out somewhere with just the light of the camp fire.
I didn’t know what scary was until I read some of these comments. I don’t think any of you are wrong as we all have our personal opinion. Others have up close and personal experiences.
It makes me feel even less prepared each time and I have tried so hard.
My husband has the ability to do or fix just about anything but he is human and has limitations.
We have someone just about every day needing somethings repaired or built.
He is my greatest comfort in these times of trouble.
Yesterday he helped someone get their lawn mower ready for the season. Today someone needs a diningroom table sanded and painted black. Another has a water leak. Then too I always need/want something.
Hope you all are blessed in some way or another.
I wish the best for all of you.
Pray for me and my household also.

      23. I will say this again, the global collapse will be brought on by a physical event or a series of physical events, NOT just because of derivatives or debt. This can be zeroed out whether people like it or not. REAL resource scarcity is physical, so is an event that is physical such as war or earth movements.

Too many people automatically think that the government is buying up all this ammo because the economy is going to collapse. This is way too narrow way of thinking while the USGS is hiding the dangers of the New Madrid fault system. This could definitely be the reason as such a repeat of 1812 quakes will destroy a large prtion of the country. It could also be that an unannounced timeframe WHEN war in the Middle East will begin, and chaos all over the planet will develop and the government of course doesn’t want to lose its control during this time. It could also be something that the government is not telling us. There are a lot of places in space that have been blacked out on various live feed videoes for example. Or as simple as a date in the future when BO has decided he will be coronated KING. It could be hundreds of other reasons for a planned government takeover of everything.

There is a difference between preparing for a financial collapse and some of the other SHTF events that people need to understand. While there is an absolute obsession with many over this financial collapse, they just know that it is going to happen, guards are being left down. Neglected are preparations that come with other catastrophes. While planning for something is better than nothing, putting your eggs all in one basket often ends up scrambled.

Many people in seismic zones that are convinced that the money world is imploded can and do neglect basic survival practices in regards to earth movements and the widespread fires afterwards. Those that are convinced that financial collapse will happen sometimes have no clue about dirty bombs, chemical attacks, nuclear or other war type situations. Those ready for a money collapse could not be ready for climatic upheavals. Those that watch the stock market and even if it went down 30% in one day and then 30% the next, the physical part of what drives the world is still left intact and will function, even if big brother takes over with this.

EVERYONE needs to prepare. Even if nothing physical happens and the money is warped around and manipulated, it won’t be fun to stand in lines waiting to get what you need at some FEMA distribution center. The food will flow because the government wants control. As long as you throw out feed to the cattle, they are not likely to stampede. This is the world that everyone lives right now, as long as the government can feed the masses they will go along with whatever they are told.

A financial collapse can bring about problems with countries which definitely can lead to war, but it is really going to be physical shortages rather than someone that says someone else owes a certain amount. As I mentioned before, bankruptcy courts all the time give someone owed pennies on the dollar and they eat it and live with it. The governments can simply zero out everything and give you coins with tracking devices in them, pennies on the dollar. The masses will botch and complain, but ultimately they will live with it.

I enjoy seeing people preparing, this is uplifting. I don’t enjoy people concentrating and harping on one issue that over and over again has yet to even begin to be fulfilled such as the financial implosion. There are way too many other SHTF events that HAVE come to pass and with horrible planetary potential destructive results. Fukushima is real and physically causing horrid damage to the environment. War has happened again and again, killing hundreds of millions over time and will happen again.

I can rememebr back in 2008/09 when it looked like the dow was going to 2000, it only went to about 6500. People were saying the same then as now, and no Mad Max calamities occurred. WHY? Because there was not the physical calamities to cause it. You can erase problems on paper with a pencil. You cannot erase problems when the entire house is burying you under rubble without extreme manpower and resources. Absolutely look for the physical before you look at the non-physical wisps of ideas and speculation. In other words look for proof before you believe something.

Dr. Doom can abandon anything, so can anyone else, but you cannot abandon the basic essentials for life; food, water, safety, shelter, protectio0n, and the everyday necessities. At least when you have these stored up along with knowledge on how to get more through nature you have a chance of making it through what is coming. Prepare for the physical because this is what is going to be lacking in what you need WHEN SHTF for whatever physical reason.

        • @BI said ‘… it won’t be fun to stand in lines waiting to get what you need at some FEMA distribution center. The food will flow because the government wants control. As long as you throw out feed to the cattle, they are not likely to stampede…”

          ****
          lol. That reminded me…

When I move cattle from one pasture to another across the road, and don’t feel like going to the barn for cubes or feed, I just put a few rocks in a bucket and shake it — the cattle follow just the same.

        • Whom the God’s want to destroy, they first drive them crazy.
Sound familiar? Maybe this is all a stress test by God Almighty himself. All the subjects which border on hostile events is enough to make you insane but we continue on with our crusade. A crusade with unknown factors having good and bad and the ying and yang and that makes it nearly impossible to figure it all out.
The amount of information processed can mirror any major intelligence gathering organization and they have the same problem of determination of what is real and unreal. The upper hand is that which they create themselves in the form of disinformation. I find that we here are unique in that we confront situations instead of running away. We enlighten some people while we scare away others. We hope we can discover the truth while being critisized.
I am still reading Selco, and I tell you I just don’t know anymore.

        • @BI. You are if not the then one of the smartest people that post on this site. I pay strict attention to what you say as I am sure a lot of people here do as well.

For the last couple of days I have noticed that you have been indicating that some thing else is afoot that we all are not seeing. Is it the New Madrid fault? Do you know some thing that you either cannot tell us or afraid that if you did and it would not come true that we would think less of your predictions? That my friend would never happen.

So what gives? In simple speak so that an illiterate such as myself can understand. If it is the New Madrid fault that you are worried about please give us a Readers Digest condensed version of what would happen say if there was an 8 plus quake. What would be the ramifications?

      24. Jesus lives.

        • And thank God he does…he is the only answer to the problems of the World. I am “in” this world but not “of” this world. We have maybe at best a short 70 to 80 years here on earth…then what? Eternity. My salvation is in the Lord…I know that there are those on this site that do not hold the same beliefs that I do. I pray that those that don’t will be moved by the holy spirit to reconsider their opinion as our time here is short.

May God bless us all in these deeply troubled times.

      25. On my morning walk, run, hike I was thinking about spring planting and the thought came to me that I’m going to buy a lot of extra seed potatoes and plant them around oddball places like parks, the woods, off hiking trails and places where weed and black berries are growing. Insects and critters don’t seem to bother too much with the potato plant when there’s other things to eat and they will make a good hidden backup food supply. I was thinking that 99% of the city people wouldn’t know a potato plant if their life depended on it but they would take everything from my garden.

        • That is an excellent idea! Thank you for sharing.

        • That IS a great idea. Thank you!

      26. I’m still investing in food, water, water purification, medical supplies, camping gear, extra clothing, tools, ammo, etc. Things i know will help to guarantee my survival in the post-SHTF world. braveheart

        • I’m thinking it might be smart to invest in tattoo inks, tattoo equipment, tooth files, and injection needles to barter labor from the young freaks for another bit of body art.

      27. Wonder if the trucking company will pay me in money that has no value, to drive a truck with no fuel, hauling a trailer with no freight, crossing a few brisges that have collapsed, into a city under martial law and/or chaos, to a warehouse that’s been burned down? Other than that, I don’t see what the problem is…

        • You got the idea right, don’t know the answer. Luck

        • They will pay in Bitcoins.

      28. Marc, you’ve got your timing wrong. The metals got slaughtered along with everything else in the down phase of the asset crisis and recovered with everything in the up phase.

In the time period you cite, the stock market soared. Is the stock market a safehaven or is that asinine too?

      29. I like a bit of old soul music now and then. Adds a certain flavor to the classic rock/ country mix. I always wondered why the O’Jays, Lynard Skynard, and Wilie Nelson never teamed up for a song or two. Bet it woulda been great!
Just heard a good one on the truck stop PA system- The Main Ingredient singing ‘Everybody Plays The Fool.’ (remember that?) I was enjoying it til the announcer says it’s our new national anthem. Tossed me right back into depression. What a bummer…

        • Ah, okie….I was hoping you loved ZZ Top too….

        Mark my Word…
This is where our politicians, big business and the banksters will put us, IF they like us… And if they DON’T like you, you will end up in a FEMA re-education camp or a FEMA Death Camp.

~..~ TG: It would be a comedy if it wasn’t a tragedy.

      33. Hillary Clinton hinted at it a few years ago. She said things will need to be ‘dialled to zero’ at some point. She also discussed a ‘reboot’ to the world economy. That is what is in the works. Just like you do with a computer.

It is being beta tested right now to see how the moving parts work. When they think things are ready, then they will reboot while you are in bed. One of the first measures is to get as many people as possible on to e-rationing systems such as food stamp cards and other digital systems. This is now being rolled out in Europe. This is to make sure the poorest can eat during the chaotic period.

It will reboot to a new currency and this will have a big impact on people’s savings and wealth. New rates will be posted and they will knock some zeros off. This has happened many times in economic history and in many countries. The difference this time will be its global nature.

        • The difference this time is that the Global Elite intend to use the “reset” to dissolve the American Constitution and merge US with Mexico into the North American Union under UN auspices, and impose One World Government.

          • I agree with you on this DK.

            It’s engineered.

But they just don’t realize what a big steamy pile they are stepping in.

      34. My concern is whether you’ll be able to exchange your gold bars for food when the SHTF
What ever medium of exchange you put your worldly wealth into, it has to be divisible, and also desirable in a desperate situation
Invest in at least a base supply of life essentials, food, matches, fuel, guns, ammo, etc, while they’re still available and affordable.
One day, no amount of gold may be able to buy them

        • “Junk” silver is the way to go for everyday usage. Pre ’65 90% silver dimes, quarters, halves and dollars.

Two pre 1965 dimes could buy you a gallon of gas in 1965, and they still can today.

Gold is for storing a large amount of value in a small package. 10 1 oz. gold Eagles is just about as easy to transport as $20,000 in fiat FRN’s…..and will be worth more than a wheelbarrow full of the stuff when SHTF.

In the initial chaos of a SHTF situation, PM’s may not be of much use. But eventually, people will want an easily recognized medium of exchange that has intrinsic value. Nothing else surpasses gold and silver when it comes to this. Gold and silver have had value since the dawn of civilization, and have always been viewed as real money (except for the idiot Helicopter Ben Bernanke)

      35. When you want to buy something cheap…convince everyone else it ain’t worth nuthin’.

      36. This was the epitome of waste. Those folks were very well behaved and realized how wasteful it was to simply throw food away.

No doubt it was upsetting to them to SEE something of value go in the dumpster. And how many public servant cops did it take to “protect” the community from possible “bad food”?

What many of those people don’t realize is that the government is the biggest producer of waste. The government wastes energy, money, time, people….every resource at their fingertips and they manage to waste so very much of it. This is just one more example of wasteful worthless government.

      37. To put everything in a way that all can understand….WHEN anything happens, WHAT will you do?…HOW will you survive?….WHERE will you go or stay?…WHO will be in charge of your group?…..It really does not matter What happens, whether it is an EMP or solar flares, or an earthquake or…..etc….to be prepared for any emergency situation is to be far ahead of any panic….

      38. I farm… keep a blog with practical homesteading thoughts. Be sure to stop by… Survival with style i say… http://www.survivalist.zzn.com Mac has done a great job with this page… been reading here since he started it up!

      39. If you think you will be able to buy what you need for survival in a time of chaos you will be out of luck. Supplies of everything will be extremly limited if available at all. And what is available may cost all that you have. This is what has happened on a localized basis for every calamity that has happened in our own country. Precious metals are fine. Have some in your war chest. But do not do it at the expense of basic necessities. Water, food, clothing, shelter and a means to protect yourself and your family. These are your first priorities. Next, how can you serve others? Find a way, the pay off for that is mutual cooperation and protection against adversity of all kinds. Finally, and lastly is money. What ever form that takes, be it precious metals, or barter exchange.

Don’t be the one standing in a line all day for a cold sandwich. Be the one handing them out.

      40. Last night on CNBC, Larry Kudlow encouraged US banks to sieze stocks and bonds from their investors, and all deposits over $250,000. He says that the template in Cyprus should be used here. If you have money in the bank you should seriously reconsider. Even if you have a lot less than the insured limit. Expect a real run on US banks soon.

      41. I woke up about 3 years ago. Started prepping then and am blessed. I have a great job and that has helped my preps immensely. I work at a small power station out in the country. I have many relatives and friends who live around me. Most all say that the day is coming when we will have to stick together. My response to them is what are you doing about it. Most have just bought a little extra ammo. Most of the ammo is shot gun shells. I hope I can store enough food to be able to help them. That is my biggest problem. I wish they would wake up totally. I fear we are running out of time.

      42. And just to reiterate where Marc Faber stands on gold, he made it pretty clear in February of 2010 when he said, β€œThe One Thing I Will Never Do in My Life is Sell My Gold.”

        Stupid man.
