    economy-fragile

Ahead of the collapse of 2008 well known investment manager Bill Fleckenstein warned that real estate and stocks were headed for a crash. He positioned himself and his clients to absorb the brunt of the imminent hit that was coming to financial markets. Unlike the millions of people who saw some 40% of their wealth vaporized by mid-2012, Fleckenstein survived and actually profited by betting against the official propaganda.

And though most Americans have likely bought into the government’s recovery narrative, Fleckenstein isn’t convinced and he’s sounding the alarm once again.

In an interview with Eric King of King World News, Fleckenstein warns that the same machinations and corruption responsible for the collapse of our economic and financial systems in 2008 remain a serious threat today.

There’s no chance that the outcome in the financial markets in America is a pleasant one because we’ve gotten here because of the printed money.

This can’t possibly end well.  This has gone on for so long.

It’s still not possible to say when it’s going to change and what’s going to be the catalyst.

The important thing to understand is that this is a very fragile structure.  The market is very crash-prone.  There’s not going to be any liquidity on the downside because of what’s happened in the banks — the algorithms and all that other stuff.

More capital has been misallocated and more people have behaved imprudently.  They were kind of lured into it because of the Fed.  You’ve got more bad paper out there in terms of junk paper and things like that.

But to know, is it going to be that much worse?  Well, it likely will be and almost surely will be, but how much worse and in what way is going to be a function of what we find out that we don’t (already) know.  For instance, when the housing bubble started to burst I knew that the economy was going to get destroyed because the housing bubble had been driving the economy.

As Fleckenstein notes, when the next sell off starts it’s going to be very difficult to stop it because there isn’t enough liquidity in the system. Panic selling will lead to a negative feedback loop and the crash will simply build upon itself.

Bottom line: the whole system’s going to detonate and it will probably be a whole lot worse than what we saw in 2008.

And Fleckenstein is not alone. One of the world’s most followed investors seems to have also lost faith in the purported economic recovery and health of U.S. financial markets. According to a recent analysis highlighted by Drudge Report, billionaire financier George Soros is betting pretty heavily on a crash.

Among the highlights, Soros Fund Management increased a bear-call bet on the S&P 500 in a huge way. The fund lifted a put position — a bet the market will go lower — on the S&P 500 ETF SPY  to its biggest size yet, in terms of value and portfolio percentage, making a 605% leap over the previous quarter.

Trend forecaster Gerald Celente, also on King World News, says that the next global collapse is just getting started.

Now Walmart sales are soft.  And you hear it from virtually every one of the major companies.

They are looking at either flat or declining store sales.

Why?  Because people have lousy jobs or no jobs at all.

It’s a statistical fact echoed by Shadow Stats economist John Williams, who recently said that the system is so far gone there’s nothing that can save it. Williams cites the negative GDP growth rate for the first quarter of 2014 and the fact that Americans are financially tapped out as evidence for a continued degradation in the economy.

    We’re turning down again.

The reason for this is that the consumer is strapped… doesn’t have the liquidity to fuel the growth in consumption.

Income… the median household income, net of inflation, is as low as it was in 1967. The average guy is not staying ahead of inflation…

Personal consumption is more than two thirds of the economy – there’s no way you can have positive sustainable growth in the U.S. economy without the consumer being healthy.

It’s just not going to happen.

The mainstream pundits and government officials can tout recovery all they want, but the fact is that the economy is still in shambles. Millions of jobs have disappeared and decent paying new jobs are few and far between. Moreover, we are rapidly approaching 50 million people dependent on emergency government assistance just to meet their most basic food needs.

The system as it exists right now is simply unsustainable and it’s only a matter of time before it comes unhinged.

And though none of us can predict how this will play out in the United States, looking towards the periphery nations that took the brunt of the force over the last five years may be an indicator of what we can expect.

It got so bad in Greece, a developed EU nation, that people had no access to life saving medicines or food, and underground barter markets quickly appeared to meet demand in a society that ran out of traditional currency to pay for goods.

If the same fate is to befall the United States it could be a whole lot worse here. It is for this reason that preparing in advance is so important. We’ve already seen what happens when the Electronic Benefits System locks up for just half a day.

In the midst of the next financial crisis, which may well affect the government’s ability to make good on the billions of dollars in social promises, people are going to panic.

We don’t know how bad it can get, but if it’s anything like Argentina’s economic collapse of 2001, people are going to be rushing to get their hands on food, precious metals, medicine, and other critical supplies.

Thus, stockpiling goods that you can use and barter will, at the very least, provide some level of insulation when the masses are fighting for scraps.

Prepare today, because the signs point to an inevitable collapse of our way of life in the very near future.

This, as Bill Fleckenstein notes, can’t possibly end well.

      1. Just keep prepping! That’s all we can do. It’s coming and we know it. I just don’t get it though. How is it possible that 99% of the population has no clue? They just don’t know how bad shit is going to get. Whatever happens next it’s going to be intense.

        • I don’t think they have no clue, most just don’t care, many are already on government assistance and think the checks will just keep coming and the rest are to stupid or lazy to do anything anyway. Fortunately 80-90% of the people I just listed will be culled within weeks.

          • I don’t think a culling will happen that fast. People will leave the urban areas. The burbs will get the brunt of the action as the gov will try to keep order there. Rural areas will have their own issues, but it will be a while before huge problems take place there.

Things will have to go wrong for months for there to be a “cull.”

            FWIW.

            • I use to think like you and that it would be at least 3 days before anything even started to happen (about the average idiots food storage including beer and nachos). Then last year when the demoncats wanted more “emergency” money for EBT cards and shut the system down to show the re-pubic-cans what will happen if they didn’t go along it only took 3 hours. They were stripping the Wal-Mart’s bare and stealing all they could when they found out Wal-Mart could not access their accounts and foolishly allowed a no limit policy to degenerates. I now believe the animals will defile our country the second they think its possible. My god, just look at their behavior in Ferguson, MO. Fuckin animals and nothing more. Everybody better listen to Burt Gummer and pray because if TSHTF we’ll need the almighty’s help.

              • A week ago, the retail cash on the sidelines from small investors was 15%. The GB’s are waiting until the little guys are “all in””. 🙁

                • Countries are also leaving the dollar too.
Well know a little more when the GDP revised numbers are available for this past quarter. We all know they were fudged for the propaganda sound bites. Healthy recovery? Bah!
Mac said “when the masses are fighting for scraps”. From past mob scenes we know the aint fighting for scraps. The mob mentality kicks the animal instinct in, next thing we see is all out crazy. Maddog, your right. They loot and shoot. Its a feeding frenzy. Keep an eye on the insanity going on in Ferguson. Next town could be yours. All common sense left and the agitators came. Scraps arent on there minds. Keep your barrels tuned and sight in. Ready on the right?

                  • While I am sick of hearing these predictions, here is what I do know…

For many years now, the globalists money changers have been discussing their Post 2015 agenda. So what is going to happen in 2015, is the obvious question.

Here is the answer, as I see it.

The dollar will be collapsed and replaced by the end of 2015. All private paper wealth will be evaporated and sucked into the banksters hands.

To cover this collapse, a biological war has been started with the release of weaponized Ebola. They can not disarm us, but they can de-life us and the gullible will never know who killed them.

Sometimes I wonder if I would be better off not knowing what I know. At the same time, will probably survive for a while to witness many of the atrocities because of what I know.

The Bible says the living will envy the dead. Hopefully I can hold out long enough to handle a few of the devils warriors to aid Christ upon his return as the warrior.

The Jesus we see will not be the love and forgiveness Jesus, He will return to us as we need Him to be. A feared warrior capable of destroying everything the antichrist builds. Including his army of thugs and low life degenerates.

Yes, as much as I hate to say it, the “dollar” WILL be collapsed in it’s entirety and return to it’s intrinsic value of ZERO during the year 2015.

There is nothing else that can happen that would have the elites talking 10 years ago about what to AFTER it does, in the Post 2015 world.

Keep your guns. When someone dies near you, get theirs and their ammo. When Jesus returns, He will need your help.

We’re relentlessly told that we must “never forget” the “Six Million.” But we hear far less about the vastly greater number of victims of Lenin and Stalin, and the grim legacy of Soviet Communism. Some 20 million people perished as victims of the Soviet regime, historians acknowledge. Jews played a decisive role in founding and promoting the egalitarian-universalist ideology of Marxism, in developing the worldwide Marxist political movement, and in brutally imposing Bolshevik rule in Russia. With the notable exception of Lenin, who was one-quarter Jewish, most of the leading Marxists who took control of Russia in 1917-20 were Jews, including Trotsky, Sverdlov, Zinoviev, Kamenev and Radek.

Jesus is God. Just what exactly is going to stop him and what help are you going to lend God that helps him eek out a victory? Just curious, or maybe I interpreted incorrectly.

                  • I’ve read how Mo. is a “Red State” and how the frenzy is whipped up to benefit Team Blue,… You know, the other wing of the same bird of prey. One wing is blue, one wing is red, while the bird pecks for you. …That sort of thing.

Stuff makes much more sense when you look at it like that, imho.

Just ask yourself: why hasn’t/isn’t the same thing happening elsewhere in the country?

It’s not like cops killing people for no reason other than, “They feared for their safety” isn’t a common occurrence.

A warning from the (Jewish born) man who as a teenager turned in his Jewish neighbors to the Nazis.

George Soros: “At times like these, survival is the most important thing,” he says, peering through his owlish glasses and brushing wisps of gray hair off his forehead. He doesn’t just mean it’s time to protect your assets. He means it’s time to stave off disaster. As he sees it, the world faces one of the most dangerous periods of modern history—a period of “evil.”

Europe is confronting a descent into chaos and conflict. In America he predicts riots on the streets that will lead to a brutal clampdown that will dramatically curtail civil liberties. The global economic system could even collapse altogether.”

                  • Sadly, I actually agree with Soros here. However, I think the class war ends up in a Marxist revolution that is directed by the very people the proletariat and lumpen proletariat thinks they are revolting against. It’s real goal with be the destruction of the middle class and establishment of a supposedly classless society -with a few people being more equal than others. Remember: it’s not the one percent you need fear. It’s the 0.001 percent that really control things. It is they who oppress you, not the small business owner who made things work by the rules. Sadly though, in the coming revolution it will be the normal 1 percenters who are sacrificed by the 0.001 percenters to make it look like real change is going on, when in reality all they are doing is consolidating power. Don’t worry: George Soros will be just fine after this and likely will be even more powerful than he is now. The rest of us… however… will suffer for it.

              • Maddog. When SHTF yes within hours the Rioting hords will see this as a green light and opportunity to steal and pillage. You better have your Battle rifle and load out on and ready to immedietly gather your family togethet as everubody will become the target. Do not hesitate to shoot looters of your neighbors homes either. Stop them immedietly or they will be at your house next. Then just drag the bodies to the curb for garbage day pick up. And put a sign on the body. LOOTER. And with a marker write “L” on their forehead. Loser or looter same thing.. No Cops will be there or question you for defending your property.

                • Brand them with an “L” to the forehead so they can see he was a looter.

              • I absolutely agree! Impoverished urbanites are waiting for the moment to act like animals. If we think it will take a matter of 3 days, we are seriously kidding ourselves.
Look at their behaviors at other times: I took my children to a water park and witnessed these government assisted “people” steal food, cut lines and destroy property as part of their family vacation. It is a totally different mindset to which most of us cannot relate.
I feel for the police officers who have to deal with this scum day in and day out. The truth will come out in the Ferguson shooting….I don’t believe this boy was just walking down the street minding his own business…..give me a break!

                • I think his walking down the street was done in such a way as to exert power. It’s something I see frequently, when these “urban” youths walk slowly like they own the road and try to make cars get out of their way, instead of them courteously removing themselves quickly from the way of traffic. When I see this, I usually don’t stop. I go around or do whatever I need to to get away from them. I see it as a way to stop cars and rob the driver.

                  • Winston, They walk purposely in the middle of the street to make them selves relevant. Like, “look I can hold up traffic. It is the same thing as public disobedience as pulling their pants down to their hips as a symbol and recognition of their brothers in Prison. Ever see tennis shoes dangling from the power lines in the middle of the street. That means that is a place of where to buy drugs. Now 60% of Blacks in Ferguson are on EBT Food Stamps, they refuse to work, or unemployable, so they create chaos as a sporting event activity, ans want to blame somebody else for their own self inflicted ignorant mentality. They some how think that everybody owes them, and why they justify looting when given the opportunity. Just wait when real SHTF Nationwide, every body better be ready like yesterday, because this mass rioting and pillaging will be the great culling. The police cannot be everywhere, so you better, as a Man or Woman to protect your family better have multiple Guns, High Capacity Magazines and Plenty of ammo for your protection and your property. Be the Sheep Dog in your neighborhood, as many unprepared neighbors with families will easily become victims. You will need to help protect them too cause the next house may be yours. Let er’ Rip!!!

                • I suppose you never heard of Sean Bell and Amadou Diallo. Both of them were shot like dogs in the street for nothing. 51 times for Bell and 41 times for Diallo. Cops lie all the time ask any defense attorney. I don’t see any one on this earth without blame. Although you didn’t cite a race your post sounds racist to me. More whites are on government assistance than black, and that is who it was created for in the first place.I’ve also known them to be trashy and ill mannered. The cops screw with young blacks all the time for no reason, so it’s normal for a person to get tired of being screwed with, and mouth off. This kid had his issues, but he deserved a chance to grow up unless he did something that got him killed justifiably. White kids get that chance to grow up even when they screw up repeatedly. When I was in high school it was the whites selling dope they could get you anything you wanted including steroids which they used. Blacks didn’t have a clue where to get steroids in the 70’s. Look at your own problems before pointing out others. You can see the speck in your neighbors eye , but not the log in your own.

              • I absolutely agree! Impoverished urbanites are waiting for the moment to act like animals. If we think it will take a matter of 3 days, we are seriously kidding ourselves.

              • Right on , maddog… I had hoped those of us suspecting civil disobedience might have a few hours worth of opportunity to finalize, but I think we had better be ready at a moments notice. Of course, an EMP event will leave us all to what we have on hand, but an economic collapse might be a bit more forgiving to the prepper…

            • When SHTF, DHS and the FEDS may Block all Exits out of Major Cities. Trying to contain the populations. Like Hotel California. That is why it is important to know when to Bug-Out. Like the Movie “New York New York.” We get trapped in the Cities like one big FEMA CAMP Prison. Maybe Eboli outbreaks may cause exits of cities to be Blocked.

You know Damn well TPTB have thought about this in their contingency plans.

              • They already did it after 9/11. All NYC bridges and tunnels were closed for hours. They allowed pedestrian access on some (maybe all, I don’t remember), but they were definitely closed to vehicles for a while.

              • WhoWuddaThunkIt,

Another concern I have is that DHS (or some other government agency) will ‘relocate’ (by bus, train, etc.) large numbers of people to rural areas.

Not long ago a friend of mine that is connected with the medical field told me some news about this.

My friend was told that in the event of an “emergency”, there are ALREADY PLANS TO ‘RELOCATE’ large numbers of people from *** (name of large city) to our rural county.

He also told me that our county does NOT have enough emergency food rations to feed our current population very more than a few days.

            • I agree, What… We in rural areas, especially just outside of urban areas, are going to be inundated with the same mobs that are inundating Ferguson, Mo. You know….in an economical collapse, for a while the police and their units will be trying to keep peace, but sooner or later, these guys will be going home, saying “the Hell with it”, to protect their families. This is going to get severe soon…

          • I don’t want to see anyone “culled”, but I can’t save them. I hope I can save myself and family. Things can get so crazy that you just never know. Have a s h t f plan, and pray.

Well he is an expert. … expert at getting you to donate your money to the stock market big guys who dont listen to or buy like Cramer.

              • Yes BJ: You heard it here first a few weeks ago when I provided the link for the last necessary component for the Crash. That would have been about the time that Soros put on a $2.2 billion put.

                  • Is Krugman warning of a Crash? Has Krugman explained the components of the coming Crash? Has Krugman explained why there is no hyperinflation and why the Crash will be deflationary in character? I doubt it.

                    But I don’t read Krugman either. 🙂

                  • You don’t read Krugman???

BTW, Krugman is a fanboy of Central Banking… Just as you are.

NOTE: If you support Central Banking, you support the New World Order!!!

                  • YMWW: I have explained the “deflation” many times. But for your sake and to satisfy your ignorance I will mention this again:

The Housing Crash was deflationary in character and still is except for those locations and markets where Chinese money has made landfall.

Deduct the high end sales in those markets from the data and it shows that the median home sales price has TANKED!!!

For a full description, check the archives !!! 🙂

                  • RE: “Deduct the high end sales in those markets from the data and it shows that the median home sales price has TANKED!!!”

That Must be why he was advising people to buy houses a while back?

Once a mortgage banker, always a mortgage banker?

                  • helot says:

“That Must be why he was advising people to buy houses a while back?”

Exactly! He crowed about a housing recovery when there was obviously NONE, and now he’s talking “deflation” in the housing market. LOL.

BTW… Hey DK, since when are falling prices a bad thing???

The Durango Kidd and Paul Krugman swap the same Keynesian/Statist spit, aka, BS!

Note: If you support a Central Bank, you support the New World Order.

If you want to stop the New World Order, Central Banking must be eliminated!

                  • Helot/CLARK: I’m still advising people to buy real estate if you have the cash and the skills to buy CHEAP. Unfortunately for you, that takes money, and knowledge; neither of which you have acquired while living at home in your mother’s basement!!!

                    LMAO!!! 🙂

                  • YMWW: Falling home values are bad when YOU are the homeowner watching YOUR equity disappear as the mortgage amount exceeds the value of YOUR home. For most Americans their home is their largest asset.

IE, you owe more than your home is worth. 🙁

BTW, I did NOT crow about a housing recovery. That is a lie. I warned about a second leg down in the housing market and that warning is in the archives. Find it.

What I did say was that even with another leg down it was possible to buy a foreclosure from a bank for cash at a price well below existing prices if you have the skills.

                    You don’t. 🙂

                • YMWW: BTW I am actively searching for high quality real estate of all types in specific markets and waiting for the next Crash to make a killing.

Imagine buying an exceptional 300,000 office/warehouse in a Foreign Trade Zone for $25 PSF. A great new HQ if I do say so myself.

Crash will be KING in the next Great Depression. Save ten dollar bills in number ten cans. 🙂

                  • I agree with what I’ve seen from you so far, but what if you get man made hyperinflation first. The government can always spend the money into the economy Japan is doing it right now. Deflation is trying to take hold while the Fed fights it until they decide to pull the plug or some thing else takes it out of their control. I think this whole thing was created on purpose however. This is how they plan to implement the New world Order.

                  • durango kidd says:

“Falling home values are bad when YOU are the homeowner watching YOUR equity disappear as the mortgage amount exceeds the value of YOUR home.”

If you are “underwater” on your mortgage at this point, you’re a mark who’s been had. You bought into the hype, and now you’re stuck with a mortgage amount that “exceeds the value of YOUR home.” A correction was inevitable, and so is the pain!

News Flash: Housing is a FED induced BUBBLE… Don’t you get it?

DK… I still fail to see how falling price are a bad thing! I’m looking at a 3 bdr condo listed at $25K. I’ll get it for less than that. You gotta love DEFLATION!

NOTE: The durango kidd is STILL bullish on real estate while at the same time lamenting housing “deflation.”

                    One word here: Schizophrenic.

“BTW, I did NOT crow about a housing recovery.”

                    Yes you did!

                    It’s in the “archive.”

You lie as much as your government does!

              • The real word to be used rather than crash is COLLAPSE. A crash is much more recoverable. A collapse on the other hand means martial law and everything that people dread deeply. A crash would mean that even near 90% like in the 1930’s that the country will still function, badly, but still function. A collapse means that basically everything is off the tables. A collapse means that the government takes over and you start to get a lot closer to Mad Max situation.

It is still a firm belief that those in control don’t want this to exactly happen where revolution and anarchy all over the world is the normal. This means we will likely see some regional or global war before a collapse occurs of the economy. Another horrifying thought is that these control maniacs will release a deadly pathogen to thin the population considerably before a worldwide economic collapse. Those in control just cannot give up this power, it is in their psyche, and they will go to bizarre and the most wicked ways to preserve this.

                • Airborne Ebola anyone.

                • Since history has proven that elections are not an effective way to rid ourselves of the psychopaths who’ve risen to the top of the political structure in this rapidly decomposing turd dump of a once great nation, with the one recent exception of handing Eric Cantor his walking papers – it seems to me that the only way we will be able to rid ourselves of our psychopaths is going to have to be through a second American Revolution.

These psychopaths remind me a lot of fleas on your dog. You can apply flea and tick medicine to the dog, you can spray and sprinkle flea powder all over their bedding, you can light off flea bombs in your house – but, those stubborn fleas just refuse to disappear. Fleas and politicians are very closely related.

For example, here we see this Mr. Fleckenstein pointing out how serious the national debt is and how the government might have trouble meeting their financial obligations (Social Security, Military, Government retirement pensions, etc.) and the unearned welfare and other handouts to the parasite classes – but, ObongoMugabe is such a mentally insane, delusional psychopath that he is threatening to issue and Executive order granting amnesty to 5 or more million IQ of 80 illegal aliens and then let them import every member of their turd world family tree – whereupon every single one of these turd world leeches will immediately be given an EBT card and access to every social entitlement on the books.

Common sense motivates me to ask: “How can this be viewed by anyone with an IQ over room temperature as a smart move to make?”

                  • remember….when you bury a politician, bury him DEEP, because deep down, they’re GOOD people!

                • The way Cramer talks you would think Herbal Life AN Chipolte Restaurants were the 2 pillars left in America holding up the economy. I bet Cramer gets a fee everytime he mentions these names. Like I said he’s a paid shill.

              • Honestly, the sheer magnitude of the collapse will destroy the US Governments ability to have its precocious continuity of government, we have very little to fear from them. It will be just like Ferguson, MO. though. Those that have will need guns to protect it from those who feel its their life calling to take it or be given it for free.

For the first few weeks, your gun barrel will stay very warm to HOT 24 hrs per day. You will only have time for a brief candy bar before you will need to slow fire another 20 round mag. But the sun will come up the next day, you will stand up out of your pile of brass and help your neighbors stack the body’s of those that liberalism, socialism and entitlements murdered without care or compassion.

          • You forgot all the Junkys, those on medication, the very old or young, those who have never worked or had to figure something out in their lives. Those who are such poor physical condition. Those who do the all American thing and go looting, as we see in Ferguson Yes, the cull will be massive. Grüß aus Deutschland

          • The market is no longer an indicator of the health of the US economy. It has detached it’s self through off shoring and globalization. the only concern of mine is domestic and not global. If the globalist get burned I’m ready to willing to rejoice in their misfortune and the misfortune of all the government unions that are invested in their treason.

            • You’re right it is detached. Just like the Gold/Silver paper holdings vs physical holdings.

            • Take the time and ask the old folks what it was like after the 1929 crash??. What they did to survive??. Many people just got together and played cards, and the invention of many low cost board games came out like Monopoly. Kick the can. Marbles, paperdolls, bicycles, wagons… what ever fun that did not cost money. Start collecting these activity assets like a few decks of cards. Put a set in your bug out bag or BOL..

              • WhoWuddaTunk,
I will somewhat have to disagree about the folks from the depression era and the inner-city thugs now. During the depression a lot of the folks lived in rural areas and had food and the ability to work hard. Now, however, those days are gone for good. The inner-city welfare mooches will not come to the rural areas to play cards and work for food. It is a delusional thought to think that these people that have survived by sucking off the taxpayers are actually going to change for the better.
Years ago, I talked to my Grandpa about the depression.
He informed me that they were so poor and lived off his garden and hogs, that they didn’t even know that a depression was going on. You didn’t have welfare or EBT cards. Soup lines were the norm. Do you really think that these inner-city, drug induced zombies are going to wait in a soup line when there are Air-Jordens to be had at the local Wally World. Ain’t gonna happen!! Get your preps, ammo, spiritual life, family in order. This ain’t gonna end well.

              • I’ve heard many stories from my grandparents( god rest their souls) about what they did to entertain themselves during the Great Depression. Told stories, played cards, put on plays…they were very social and depended on each other greatly.

              • I asked my mom about living through the depression and she told me “We was so poor, we didn’t even know there was a depression” lol

        • When the next phase of the collapse begins on a global level we are going to be envious of Greece. We are talking a collapse of society in general. Just look at what’s happening in Missouri with the two teens who were shop and how the militarized police responded.

The Police are militarized across the USSA because they know what’s coming. They are seeing it in other parts of the world with civil unrest.

          • Rodster. The Jews run DHS. Thus explains the military buildup as the will be at our doors enforcing the foreclosures. Just watch as Americans are forced from our homes at gunpoint as we are ordered to vacate our homes due to Mortgage defaults. Its all part of their master plan. This is what I predict. 1.5 Billion Hollow Point Bullets Agenda. I say resist at every turn.

            • Someone once said that the reason that blacks can’t rise is that they think they have an excuse for their failures. Their failures are blamed on whites. As long as they have an excuse for their short comings they will never rise. They must take responsibility for their own destiny. All you jew blamers need to take look in the mirror and see who’s to blame for what ever short coming there is in your life and take responsibility for your own destiny.

              • Rick in OR. There is a difference in legitimate blaming. I think blaming the Jew banksters that crashed the housing industry is pretty legitimate. If you lost your job because they shipped it to China is that your fault? There is plenty of blame to go around. Including self inflicted. But just limited to yourself. Many people fail due to laziness. Sucessful people do the hard things lazy people refuse to do. So you are partly right. There is a pattern and conspiracy here regarding the Joos bringing down America. Just connect the dots.

              • Yeah OK I looked in the Mirror and saw Joo BankerStein and Fred Reserveburg standing behind me licking their chops for the next round of Bank “Bale-Ins” comming. I never thought Joos liked Pork so much.

            • DHS AND JOO Connection. Connect the Dots and why today’s Police Depts have become Militarized.
Michael Chertoff – Former head of Homeland Security. Current principal of The Chertoff Group, dubbed as a security consultancy company.

The Chertoff Group is the primary consultant to Homeland Security, staffed by former DHS officers with Jews holding the highest positions as principals, senior advisers, top staffers, and ‘experts’ on national security.

Indeed, all of these JEWS at the Chertoff Group are current advisers to DHS.

And, of course, there’s all the Gentile shills like Michael Hayden whose fat paychecks signed by Chertoff are solid evidence that they’ve sold their souls to the Jews.

At the same time, loads of Jews staff Homeland Security itself. Noah Kroloff, a Jew at Chief of Staff was just replaced by another Jew, Amy Shlossman.

The chief diplomatic officer at DHS is the Jew, Alan Bersin.

And two Jews: David Heyman and Alan Cohn, are heads of policy. Yes, “policy” at Homeland Security is led and shaped by Jews.

So NEXT TIME you hear all the ‘truthers’ at infowars complaining about Homeland Security’s “policy” then quickly chime in with: Did you know that JEWS shape the “policy” at DHS?

As the primary consultant to Homeland Security with advanced weapons now at his disposal, we can clearly see the fruit of Chertoff’s consulting services.

Owing to Chertoff’s counsel, Homeland Security has purchased enough bullets, weapons and armored vehicles to wage a 7 year war on the American people.

              Source: http://www.realjewnews.com/?p=809

              • “””Owing to Chertoff’s counsel, Homeland Security has purchased enough bullets, weapons and armored vehicles to wage a 7 year war on the American people.”””

Seems the Bible mentions a 7 year period….

                • John W…you really are an amazing stupid pig member of the criminal tribe. Fuck you and your mooslem brothers since all of you are the parasites who must be exterminated to have a normal life on this planet.

                • John W.

Back up your post by NAMING the Muslims in Obama’s administration…..Name them John. Not just you saying they are there…….

For your information there is information on line of a V. Jarrett quote that she said she is Jewish. Look it up; let your fingers do the walking!

          • The sad thing is look at all the resources it takes for a small town of people protesting. I know it’s a lot of people but if 10 people were armed with no regrets for life and out for blood its gonna take so many people and resources to stop those people and that’s 10 people. They have to take down people door by door or by some trick etc or lies. There is no way they can win. A mad max would be crazy with so many people trying to break into homes and business, it would be nuts. They can have all the Mraps they want, sooner or later they have to come out, and I’m convinced a high powered rifle can punch a hole in the louvers in the front of it and or at least riccoshea and punch a hole in the radiator and put it out of commission after some time.

            • Thats too much work. Just know where the town stores its fuel.

        • @BobbyBill. The 99% of the population does not get it because the MSM lies on a daily basis to the population. And we all know which Tribe manipulates the News Factory. They want to see Americans crushed so their fellow Tribe bankstets can rush in and foreclose on the debtors and steal their homes and remaining weath. Its a crime like no other. Yes prep and prep some more stockpiling everything you will need for the next few years. Yes we are ripe for a revolution like no other.

          • You’re the problem.

            • No he is not Grafique. Problem must be dealt like dealing with parasites. Parasites are species like you and your tribal members.

            • And Santa can spell Satan. Remember that on SNL with the Church Lady?

            • As in the Jew York Times?

        • I don’t agree with the 99% number, or only 3 million preppers. Their are alot of people with their head in the sand, but the more people I talk to, the more that I hear are starting gardens, trying to put a little stuff back, and know that something is going on.

The one prep that I think most people forget or don’t no about is antibiotics and CS. Stock up on your fish and bird antibiotics and silver wire. Next, don’t forget a multivitamin.

A long time ago I took a couple of months, and every thing we used in the house I would right it down( I MEAN EVERTHING ). Make a list of what we needed or just wanted. Necessity or luxury. Then I would right dates on all packaging, when we opened it, and when we started another package. How long does stuff last in my house in real world usage. Not somebody elses usuage. It is easy to do, and every body can do it for free. That will give you the best starting point to see what you need to live or survive.

It is back to school time and a lot of stuff goes on sale. Buy extra socks and underclothes. Extra clothes from goodwill or some other thrift type stores. Put them up now, while you still can.

Everybody thinks about beans, rice, toilet paper, generators, and gas. You use alot more than that in life.

          • I bet that most of the people who post here and pass themselves off as preppers don’t have squat put away. Just a bunch of wanna bes. Used to be a good site but it has been taken over by the JOOs did it crowd.

            • John W. The only way we are going to solve the problems in our country is first identify the problem and who is the cause of the problem. As in so many cases here it is all pointing back to the same tribe and master plan of the Rothchild agenda 21 bankster federal reserve plowing our country into needless costly wars to protect Israel and their massive infiltrating shill base planted in our country that are pulling the string to destroy our great country at a record pase like stage 3 cancer. Yes we prep as best we can to defend ourselves from this threat. And John W look who and what tribe is leading the charge to disarm Americans from their Guns. Its the Joo Feinsteins Bloombergs, Schumer Polosi Joos. 33% of our US supreme Court are Joos when the entire Joo Population is only about 2.1%. As the saying goes it will only take about 3% of the population to overthrow the Government and your Joo tribe is doing its damndest. Beware of the Joo shills lying to you. They are the enemy from within. Foreign and Domestic.

        • How can people do nothing? Easy; The yelling about the coming storm started in earnest about 2005-6, That was after the yelling about Y2K where nothing happened,. Roughly 3 million people die in the US each year ,so since 07 over 20 Million have died, should they have spent their time worrying about disaster of just enjoyed life?
The kids under 18 cannot do anything. Should they worry? How about the people in rest homes, hospitals It goes on and on. There are so many people who either have no reason to worry or can do nothing a large part of the country is effectively out of it. But they are a huge pool of negative inertia. When these people do get concerned that’s the definition of SHTF. Because it will.

        • I dont know about you guys but the best investment is toilet paper. Hemorrhoids are gonna be a bitch when the SHTF.

          • That speaks volumes to the “new” old adage…

“Store what you eat and eat what you store…”

          • FYI Scott says the average person uses 16-19,000 sheets of TP per year. Just so you have an idea

            • How many rolls does that equate to?

          • Roids? then you better have a bunch of stool softener and Tucks put away. A bad roid can kill you.

        • I think part of it is that it seems overwhelming at first. Add to that the lack of disposable income/time and ability to budget money that most people have and they simply think it’s impossible. Plus, TV shows on the subject make it look as though you need $100,000 worth of supplies to even begin to think you are prepared.

For anyone reading this who thinks like that, don’t. You start by working on the basics like a extra week or two worth of food (rice and ramen store well and are a cheap way to ward off starvation in the short term) and some way to purify water and go from there. Plastic sheeting, blue tarps and duct tape go a long way towards building basic shelter in a collapsed building. Can’t afford a full tilt AR-15? How about a basic .22, .38 revolver or even an SKS. Any gun is better than no gun in a crisis. There’s more than one way to do it and it doesn’t take military-grade hardware to be ready. It takes the ability to improvise and having learned some basics before things turn ugly. Even the lowest-budget prepper is miles ahead of someone who has done nothing. In the end, you don’t have to outrun the bear, you just have to outrun someone else and prepping gives you that edge.

          • Winston, absolutely agree with you, even a tight budget can allow a few items a week added up food wise/some basic med ect.I would also say besides supplies buy things that might help that can also now be fun and pick up some skills,a example would be a fishing rod if there is fishing in your area,is a fun way to pass time and may help fill your belly not only now but in real tough times, even small scale gardening with something like the hydro pvc vertical setup, can be done on a balcony.I would also look at all you own and try and figure out new uses for them in a tough time, you probably already have a lot of survival stuff if you just retool it for a lack of a better word.I believe the hardest thing about prepping is just admitting to yourself man made or natural disaster can happen, once you really are in this mindset you have probably jumped the largest hurdle to being ready. As I said many times alot of the stuff I have already use in outdoor gear/tools/ect. so was lucky a bit ahead of the game, one step at a time adds up whether it falls apart next week/year/decade.

          • I used to recommend a Mosin-Nagant and a case of surplus ammo, folks could arm up on a $300 budget. If you’re broke, the M-N is still a great option, but now I’m recommended such things as the SKS, Mini-14, Mini-30, things like that. Or, you can get some very nice bolt-action deer rifles for less than $300 or $400 dollars, in standard 30.06 and .308 calibers.

Whatever folks choose, they will need a rifle for each adult in the home, at least one shotgun for close quarters, one hunting shotgun, one hunting rifle, and at least one handgun.

            • The sad thing is though that not everyone can afford to have that many guns. I was mainly speaking to people on a food service worker’s pay (like myself). I think that everyone needs at least one gun in the house. More is better, but for someone on a small budget just getting started putting all their money into firearms is unwise, especially since most scenarios do not require them. Buying lots of guns is only really justifiable if you already have water, food and shelter squared away first. Guns are really only needed in a total collapse scenario while food and water are needed in every scenario (storms, loss of employment, etc.) Total collapse is possible but not the most likely thing to be worried about when just starting out.

BTW, my favorite cheap SHTF gun is the SKS. It’s available in it’s original military issue form without alterations, it’s semi-auto just like anything else you can get without a class 3 license, and is accurate and reliable. All this for around $300 for a good one. (Just know what you’re buying and how to vet it before going to the store.) Of course, given the $2,000+ it takes to buy one I would get an AR-15 in .223 with all the goodies. However, if I only had Century AK money to spend it would go to a good milled receiver/chrome bore SKS and some ammo. If you really want something “tactical”, you can get some satin black spray paint and call it a day. 🙂

              • Right on, if you can’t afford the full battery, you have to get something, and an SKS would work well. Still a lot of good surplus 7.62×39 ammo out there, and the Tula and Bear makes are good commercial ammo, albeit not reloadable. Lacquered cases are better than the polymerized ones, they don’t gum up the works as much.

If folks are buying guns and not stocking food and water, well, they are going to a big problem when things go south.

I spent two or three years acquiring my SHTF battery, and I doubt if I would have that much time if I was beginning to build it now.

I personally believe food and water, medical supplies, that kind of thing, are going to be far more useful in SHTF than an arsenal, provided the societal ‘collapse’ is less than complete.

                • I agree with you, and you reminded me that I still have to get a good 12 gauge for the house (less penetration in my suburban neighborhood). Well, that and a 10-22 for cheap target practice and relatively quiet small game hunting should the need arise. 7.62 just isn’t as cheap and available as it used to be!

            • Well Smokey I guess I’ll have to get more people.

        • First thank you Marc for this informative site. It draws very well informed readers with a lot of good info and intelligent points of view to help others.

I saw the writing on the wall. America has been Politically, Socially and Economically gutted.

No Rule of Law. That speaks volumes. There are 10 steps to the breakdown, 9 have been implemented and # 10 on the books signed into law and waiting in the wings – implementation of Martial Law.
Watch Naomi Wolf documentary on You Tube – “End of America” she does an excellent job of laying out the steps and sites how it follows the hand book used by Stalin, Mussolini, & Hitler.
That covers the political and to some extent the social aspect of this impending debacle.

Readers would benefit from reading “When Money Dies” by Adam Fergusson, which addresses the economic scenario and outcome. Keeping in mind that was one currency confined to one nation.
Today the dollar is strangely enough still the world currency/Petro dollar, but for how long.
Now with implementation of the BRICKS bank and numerous bilateral trading without the US dollar, the death of the dollar is imminent.
And last but not least, “One Second Later” by “William Forstchen” gives a compelling account of everyday social implications.
I grew up in a “third world country” and later lived in a few others. Let’s just say I experienced the fall of a government, as an American was told we had to leave, and the economic collapse of a nation South of the border.
I did the Patriotic thing by writing to my senators and calling the White House to voice my opinion on many things including the so-called healthcare bill, which is basically eugenics and set up to line the pockets of the politicians through insurance companies. Search Dr David Janda, who testified before congress on this issue to get a clear insight on what to expect in healthcare.
That was the last straw for me as I was not prepared to have a government or anyone for that matter telling me who, what, when, why, how to take care of my body, and I have a very close family member in healthcare, we agree to disagree on this. I’m a little bit of an old rebel without a cause except to be self reliant.
I hope the above information helps to enlighten and round out the knowledge of this already well informed group as it has me. Good luck to us all.

        • It’s been fragile and crash prone for years…. And when they weren’t talking about the USA, it was the Euro led by Greece, then Portugal and France. The problem we face is the time it has/will take to occur. I have little doubt what we see in the USA is unsustainable. With Russia actively undermining the dollar in order to rip its status as the Worlds Reserve Currency, or the threat of the Fed to follow through with the QE tapering, or an EMP, or and ISIS attack, or something, we reside on eggshells that could toss us on our keaster.

        • My concept of the economy’s core players is going on.

Companies need a core list of people to run.
In bad times they purge the “dead wood”.

          A prep…don’t become “dead wood”.

I knew this was all going on.
          So I bought a double.
Then they crashed the currency. It’s been cut by value by 50% since 1995.
So naturally I’d still want all the electronic shit, the pool, vacations and so on.
So I bought the house…remodeled my ass off..and paid down the mort.
Then I get a home eq. loan and let the tenant’s rent pay my 15 year home eq. loan on my new computers, home theater and all the consumer shit I wanted to buy.
Also, some vacations, massages and dinners out.

Now.. I’m in great shape and have a nice house full of nice creature comforts, including the nice computer I’m typing on the captains chair I”m siting on as well as the oak table.

Yeah….I could have gone lean and lived on shit and bragged I was debt free..but then life sucks.. No wall of projected video games and siting in a nice home theater and so on.

          You get the idea.

          ah…fuck the economy.
So I’m sitting pretty in a nice house full of stuff that the tenants pay for.
          All prepped up.
If things do collapse then I’ll just stay home.

          Guys..things will never collapse.
They will just keep printing money and so on.
If it does…out comes a new economic system.

I’m into some heavy IT and basically run my company…being a plumber.
they don’t fire plumbers. They fire mgt.
          That’s the old game.

          So here’s your next concept..
The incoming mgt. blames the current mgt. and fires them off.
A friend just got fired. I warned him about this and wanted him to join me in tech.

          So for you walmart workers…
          Here’s what you do…
          Go to amazon.com.
Buy some books on SQL…it’s a database query language.
Enroll in a local community college and turn off the fucking TV.
Study nightly and in time.. you’ll have a nice job in tech.
Now tech. is cool. You can remote in to companies, a desk top.
the worst that will happen is your wrists will be soar after 20 years.

          Lifetime employment.

I’m sure some fuck living in a country trailing and feeding the chickens will tell me I’m waisting my money on bank interest.

As I’m deep into my 50s… I’d rather life the life and enjoy time with the kids before they are all grown and gone.

I think the prepper community needs to drop the “Mad Max” gloom and doom “sky is falling” mentality. You need a few pallets of dried goods, a nice shot gun and some ammo. Live in a nice area….I’ll just say it… Not in the ghetto near all the minorities. Shit..those folks need to learn how to behave. The world does not own them shit and “king obama” s not going to go any further than giving them a phone. They need to man up.

Ex. Tonight… I’m reading my tech manuals for 2 hours tonight….until midnight.
I’m sure all the ghetto folks will be high by then or TV or sleep land.

If you want a nice live.. you need to go earn it.
          Make yourself worth more.
So when you are sitting in front of an interviewer… you need to hand him your 9 page resume and tell him how you can make data systems talk to each other.

From what I know..the NWO boys want America on their knees.
Then they bring in their UN cities where you live like the Chinese.

Already, they have me living in an apt..as I chopped up the house to rent it.
But I was smart and knew their game plan.

We’ll see the current boomer generation start to die off.
Currently the “Silent Generation” is dying off. Read the 4th turning.
          Churches are for sale.
The next generation will embrace socialism and eventually communism.
Communism is really extreme capitalism on steriods with just a few owning everything.

Forget trying to run your own business. They stacked the deck against you.
There’s too many payroll taxes and laws. You basically become the slave of your employees…. workers comp, unemployment, fica, dis. You get the idea.

One more thing…..the older folks will remember the deep blue skies.
They are doing geo engineering. Known as chemtrails. Go google geoengineering.
The ozone layer is fried. Ever notice you never hear “ozone hole” on tv anymore.
So they spray barium and aluminum to haze the planet to keep the plants from burning.

I sure do miss seeing the blue skies. It was amazing and I count myself lucky to have seen it.

          So there you go.
We’re all slaves to the bankers.
Just keep a good path of education and learning.
          Never stop.

Do me conspire against each other. YES.
You are a fool if you think they don’t.

Personally I keep the bulk of my wealth in metals.

But I also dip into oil stocks and real estate.

Those three things will do ya.

          Forget the family farm thing.
Funny thing.. you wake up and your in your 50s and your body falls apart.
Hurts to move. So you’ll need a nice job where they cannot fire you.

Get in good with HR. Funny… back in the day it was “personnel” and it was a family company and the focus was to get your extended family working at the place.
Today… “Human Resources”. See the language here… you are a number a tool.

Anyway… then anyone who would fire you off.. you get them fired off first….or demoted.

It’s corporate chess. You need to be social, friendly and build trust.
The core of it… people act off their own self interest.
So build up your own network and have each watch out for each other.
That is how you survive this nasty economy on the edge of communism.

Forget hiding in the chicken coup in the country like a little bitch.
Man up…face the world and rage in it.
You’ll look back and be glad you did.

          Good luck.

          • Man up…right until someone puts a few rounds in you from 150 yards out while you wait for them to come into the range of your shotgun. Plus, you’ll be surprised just how not nice all those nice neighbors become when it all goes to crap. Sorry, but if you have the means, you should have some sort of backup location to retreat to when you realize that your current plans just aren’t going to work out.

It’s not that I am certain that your plans will not work out well. They very well might. However, if life has taught me anything it is that the unexpected sometimes gets in the way of the best laid plans.

          • Core Players,

I agree with some of what you say, but if there’s an EMP attack or the grid goes down, which I think is highly likely, your tech job will be nonexistent for quite a while.

          • There will be no need for plumbers either when the water supply system collapses. You better rethink your skills set diversity skippy.

          • For such a high tech schmeck, your spelling is sorely lacking. Here’s a word I’ll spell for you….TROLL….

          • @Common Core player. So do they do drug test at your job?. As any HR person would start there to unravel that rant.

            • You all a bunch of freaks. Decades will pass and nothing will go down. Just your canned goods out of date.

        • We had a power failure in my neighborhood yesterday. One of those where one side of the street goes down, and the other side is unaffected.

I had power at my house. My neighbor across the street didn’t.

The power went off about 6:30 am. Around noon, she was at my front door asking if she could put some of the items in her freezer in mine so that they wouldn’t thaw out and spoil. Of course, I was glad to help her out.

Taking this opportunity however, I asked her the question, “Have you thought about what you would do if the power went off for good? I don’t mean just here…but around the country? Completely? And there is no chance that it would come on again soon…..or ever? How much food do you have in your home that is NOT dependent on refrigeration?”

Of course….I pretty much got the deer in the headlights look from her. I then went to my pantry and retrieved a package of dehydrated food (Mountain House) that I’ve had for about 20 years. I told her, “I had one of these last week and it still tasted fine.” I then told her that maybe she should consider getting some stuff like that for her home…..just in case.

She then began to tell me how her husband just lived from day to day and had a “what will be, will be” attitude….AND…that they really didn’t have room in their home for storing any kind of food like that. She also said that she had tried to talk him into getting a generator, but he wasn’t even willing to do that.

I found that amusing, because their home is a little larger than mine and they have the same number of people living in it.

I then told her that a generator was fine….but only as long as the fuel holds out. And that if our power grid ever goes down, there will be no fuel….and in fact…within hours, there will be no food in the stores.

To be honest….I don’t think I made a dent. I’ve never seen so many people so absolutely blinded to what’s going on.

          The Normalcy Bias is pandemic.

          • Nice try. You can lead a horse to water Walt, but you can’t dent the imagination of a Sheeple. 🙁

          • @Walt

I’ve heard people on this site say they think there are more preppers out there than we think. I feel just the opposite. Even those people in America who have a bad feeling about where the country is heading aren’t worried enough. They must think it won’t really affect them because they aren’t doing anything to prepare.

      2. Fragile? Like egg shells.

Get your money OUT of that 401k and turn it into usable preps or to pay off debt. Don’t let them steal it!

        • I can certainly understand the hesitation people might have with respect to withdrawing everything in their retirement accounts and converting that money into “preps.”

But some diversification is certainly in order. This can include investing in ‘traditional’ preps like food and other supplies. But it should also include a back-up “currency” like precious metals. Moreover, farmland is a great investment in my view, and while some wouldn’t consider it a “prep,” I think it’s one of the best “preps” out there.

          • I guess being in all cash is not such a bad idea…. I would like to see D. Luther write something original….

            • Eppe, being in 100% in anything is not a good idea especially cash! The FRN is only a piece of paper. An IRA is only a piece of paper with numbers on it.
I must agree with Mac about land etc but having a bit of cash available is also a good idea.
None of us know exactly how or when this will unfold so I think after the basics are reasonably covered a diversification is in order. God Bless, James

              • I agree with you.

Everybody will suffer some lost in this matter.

            • Daisy Luther CAN’T wrote anything original. Last I saw, she was using MIchael Snyders “25 things to look out for” way of writing. She has no clue and is no writer. She is a profiteer, just looking to make money off this.
Her articles are neither original, nor informative.
She is a hack writer, and plagerism should be her middle name..she has no style of her own, as shown with the way she was setting up articles like Snyder, another profiteer with 3 sites……. he could put all that on one site, but uses three for the advertising and click thru’s.

So EPPE, dont look for much form Daisy. She doesn’t have it in her.

              • Rich, Daisy is just one of her identities so she isn’t just. plagiarizing, she is an online fraud. anytime you see Kim Paxton, think a of Daisy. Maybe we should get the list going.

to make it worse, some of these prepper websites are connected by more than the subject, too. Who really knows these people and has met them? Web domain info is so easy to track back, capture caches, or search out thru the old forums. They ya think they’re hidden well but the WWW has eyes.

                • Yeesh, so says the guys who have their Own websites… Oh wait… You guys have Jack.

                  …Dang! You’re like leeches.

          • Gold and silver, silver and gold. Ammo. More silver. Food and ammo. Gold. Water filters. Silver. Ammo and silver.

            • Toilet paper…that’s the most valuable asset. Trust me after years of uncle Sam’s screwing us, people will finally feel that pain in their rear ends when the SHTF.

            • Goldstein and Silverberg.

          • Scary part about land is that it too can be taken out from under you by an overreaching govt under the alphabets such as EPA, DHS, FDA, BLM or ultimately the IRS. The IRS concerns me the most as once they need the money, they can simply make the taxes so high on the property that you can’t afford keeping it. Stacked PMs is probably the best if the govt does not know you have it. Anything off records that is.

            • You could also lose it to rapidly escalating property taxes. All it would take is hyperinflation and indexing the taxes to that inflation level, with a bill due monthly. Once it’s all said and done, the government owns all the land and there ain’t a damn thing you can do about it…except for revolution. Just beware of what kind of revolution develops as it may not be the kind you want.

          • My financial son-in-law is visiting a friend out West. Friend reports that he looks “grey”, has lost 40 lbs., and is showing many signs of extreme stress. Hasn’t answered any of my emails in weeks, either.

He never says anything about his work to me, for fear of “insider trading” laws, but he did say a couple of years ago that he is no longer an investor, he’s just a trader, trying to guess what the markets will do in response to manipulations that even he knows little about.

I read a lot of financial/economic news, (it was my major in college), but how much can you believe? Most of it is hoping to move the market for somebody’s benefit. Especially these P/M marketers, whom I rate alongside Judas Iscariot. I do put a lot of stock in the mental state of my SIL, though. If he’s freaking out, I’m preparing for near-term financial Armageddon.

            Watch for Black Swans.

BTW do NOT buy farmland now. It’s one of the extreme bubbles – way, way overbought since 2008.

          • agree I think food water and damn near everything else is just a form of insuarance so ruffly 50 things need to be insured against get those covered and sleep well /

          • Mac, off topic but need help.

I have a friend, we will call him the rich hard head prepper. He called me the other day for some advise. He does not believe or understand any of my answers. So here is the scenario. TSHTF and he tells me I am crazy for growing my garden in rows ( people will no somebody lives there with a food source ). I say OK I kinda agree but, I say if you don’t grow in rows, you will need a massive amount of property to watch over to support a family of 4. He thinks you can do it on 1/2 an acre or so, and I say I have 3.25 acres, 50 fruit and nut trees, 3 gardens and we still go to the grocery store every week. Now, I don’t use all of the property for gardening, and I also don’t use fertilizers. You are not going to have any in the future anyways. I am trying to learn as much as possible right now without any store bought help for the garden. The property is all clay with a little dirt on top so I put in rows with the tiller, put the bagger on the lawn mower and mulch in between the rows. Two gardens a year the same way. The mulch from the previous crop is my fertilizer for the next crop. Our gardens do very good this way. We currently don’t raise rabbits but hopefully in the next year we will. We will also be raising a pig, cow, goat, and some chickens.

The question is, how much property do you truely need to be self supportive for your own food source, not counting some of the main spices like salt and pepper? I am growing sugarcane and going to try sorgum next year and would like to start raising bees in a couple of years. Thank you in advance.

            • @fishandmud… 40 acres and a mule. And… I’m not being a smart ass either. Replace the mule with tractor. You need enough to grow and feed all the meat you and your family will consume. Since your animals need to eat too, you will need to lay in at least 10 acres of hay with another 10 or fifteen to rotate for grazing them. Need both beef and dairy along with a barn big enough to house or milk them and to hold the hay and other tools. Add to the mix a couple goats, 50 chickens, a sow and boar and a pen of rabbits. You will probably have to lay in a couple acres of wheat, corn and/or oats or combinations to feed both your animals and yourself. A two acre vegetable garden is big enough to enable you let half of it lay fallow every year and rotate your vegetables to cut down on disease problems. Now, think about working your ass off all day, every day and you should about have it. Being totally self sufficient is no cake walk and the 99% have no clue what it takes. I grew up on a farm, left home when I was young, am now old and have been working on this self sufficiency and prepping for the last couple decades. I have 2+ large gardens like yourself but still have to buy meat, some fruits and other things. Fortunately, I haven’t had to buy canned food or bread products in over 20 years since wife and I grow all of our own vegetables and make all of our own bread products and pasta. Canning around our house is a year long endeavor. We can what we eat and eat what we can. We’re getting old and tired but every morning we’re refreshed and thankful for almost everything we eat is either home grown or home made. Just saying.

              • @ CrabbeNebulae : I still have to go to work every day, so not really any more time than what I already put towards it. I no the tired feeling. Right now if I am to tired, I can say I’ll do it tomorrow, but in a SHTF event, if you put it off until tomorrow you might not eat tomorrow. We have always had at least one garden and rabbits. I always hated it when I was a kid. Funny how when I got out on my own I put in a garden. I will be planting almost 5000 sq ft this fall. I am working on getting it all ready right now. I strive everyday to be more self sufficient. Maybe someday I’ll make it.

            • @fishandmud:

This isn’t the exact answer to your question, but very important: you should make yourself a bio-char kiln and make biochar to mix with your soil. It is very easy, cheap, and makes an astonishing difference, even in the first year you mix it in. This was the basis of meso American agricultural success, and is enjoying a resurgence. We did it this year, and it is impossible to explain how much increase we saw in crops.

              • @ navydoc :

I only gave it a quick look so far, have to go outside and work in the yard and plant some more just aquired edibles, but I have plans for gassifyier systems and someday plan to build 3. One for a generator ( I have quiet a few , picked up from the dump ), one for transportation, and one for my lawnmower and tiller. It appears the biproduct would be the biochar. I was giving myself 2 years for that project. Maybe I’ll try a little sooner. Thank you for your time and I will be looking into that.

              • Fish N Mud – Rabbit Poop, can be added right in to the garden soil. Rabbits bread fast and a great meat source.

            • You can grow enough squash, peppers, tomatoes, carrots and the like to feed a family of four in three to five hundred square feet if you know what you are doing, problem is Winter always comes and then only in mild Winter areas can you grow even cool season crops gardening is great but it takes time. You better have stuff stored in the slack time. People seem to think that a seed is planted and next day something is ready to harvest.

              • Time to invest in Aquaponics and indoor grow lights. 🙂

                • RE: “Time to invest in Aquaponics and indoor grow lights. :-)”

Gawd, is that your lame attempt to be hip?

‘Yesterday’ was the time to invest in that, but then you were telling people to buy houses.
You’re kind of late to the the rush.
And, because you’re recommending doing so, I suspect there’s a two ton heavy weight of crushing regulations coming down the pike to make such investments out to be mega mal-investments.

Always, ‘The State’ makes things turn in their favor when they can. …Just like you like? “Onward Empire! Forever!” right?
                  Kiss the military boot.
Perhaps then, it won’t kick you into the camps?

                  • Helot/CLARK: USA!!! USA!!! USA!!! 🙂

          • Sorry Mac,

Have to disagree…until the horror of agenda 21 is removed from the equation…you might as well just burn the money…

          • “But some diversification is certainly in order.”

I always got sick of the show “Doomsday Preppers” which was fluff at best, though, some of the people had some good ideas. But, the way the show was devoloped was that each “prepper” was made to look like they were prepping for ONE SINGLE THING. In reality most large scale disasters will result in one single slide of breakdown.

They purposely designed the show so no one would ever get a clear idea how to prep. The simple fact of the matter is all collapse roads lead to here:

            1. economic collapse (we’re pretty much there already).
            2. breakdown of society (we’re on the edge of that now.)
            3. shortages, joblessness, difficulty in surviving.

Supervolcanos, pole shifts, meteor strikes, war, market/economy crash, etc, etc, etc. Doesn’t matter.

            You’ve got to eat.
You’ve got to protect your supplies.
You’ve got to stay healthy. (Includes mentally…)
You’ve got to stay warm and dry.

Here is how I am attempting to do this:

            1. In 2009, I started buying and rotating extra food. Canned goods, dried goods, milk, fuel, etc. All my consumables.

            2. I also started experimenting with gardening and growing my own feed.

            3. I also trained the family in home defense. I had always been a gun nut so it was easy to shift my hobby more towards home and self defense.

            4. I cashed in what I could of my 401k/403b funds, and put them in a safe in an undisclosed, accessible location. (I had 28K and ended up with 22K in the “safe”).

5 years later I’ve got tons of food, a way to pump water and keep the fridges cool for months, ways to protect it all, the ability to grow more food.

Understand that the ability to do all this is nothing but a buffer zone of survivability until things return to normal or we have to return to a much, much simpler lifestyle. Either way, its not sustainable in the way that some people seem to take prepping.

But, regardless, of your situation, security, food, shelter, health and temperature control are MANDATORY. …and in THAT order!

“But some diversification is certain in order.” Wiser words have never been spoken.

            • Excellent comment, NetRanger. Useful, pragmatic and spot on.

              • Great comment anon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Good info for the masses. Give me more please.

            • Net Ranger. I think Nat Geo got that feed back and this year Doomsday Prepper they have become more practical prepping than freaky tactical. But if you can get something out of each episode take note. Nat Geo Thursday 8PM EST of the previous weeks show, then the newest Show starts at 9PM EST.

For some reason TV Producers seem to think the more Bizzare the Better. I mean Duck Dynasty? Really? Bunch of dumb hick F-n morons. It’s an embarrassment that the World thinks this is what America represents. Probably why these Illegals come to the US, they all think they are going to live like Kim Kardasian.

              • WWTI,

Hmmm. I may have to catch a few new episodes and see how they’re doing.

Though I did have some critique about DDPs, I did get quite a lot out of the shows. Each prepper seemed to have some really good info. Even if the showbiz aspect fornicated the process just for advertisers and to make fun of those people to make them seem like nuts, there were aspects of genius that even the ignorant showbiz cabal could not extinguish.

How about the guy with the network of buried schools buses?

…or the guy that took 4 shipping containsers and created a place to live with an enclosed courtyard?

Pretty cool stuff but the way it was presented, to the uninitiated, they would have looked like nutcases.

                • “pretty cool stuff but the way it was presented, to the uninitiated, they would have looked like nutcases.”

And that was the absolute intention!!!!

It galls me that producers do this, time and time again…

They frankly have no choice but to present it, because their masters what to cash in on the phenomenon. it’s a game to them and nothing more…these people are fools…

Maybe one in a hundred on the production crew get’s it…

              • RE: “I mean Duck Dynasty? Really? Bunch of dumb hick F-n morons.”

Maybe so, maybe not. I mean, did you catch the episode where Miss Kay pulled – not one – but Two pistols out of the glove compartment of the truck as they were going for a drive?

And,… the show did expose A Whole Lot of people to the idea of catching frogs,… to eat. A Whole Lot of people Never thought of that before, until this show.

Sometimes,… it’s better to learn indirectly.
I think maybe you missed that. Especially the influence this TeeVee show had on people.

Plus, those, “Bunch of dumb hick F-n morons” are pretty rich. …How about you? …Anyway, I think it’s cool they exposed a Ton of people to the world of hunting, fishing, and being self-reliant. I mean, face it, dumb as they may play at times, they come across as being capable of being self-reliant preppers.
(Besides the riding around in the cop car episode and the just about constant Uber-Nationalism) What’s Not to like?

          • The 10% early withdrawal penalty on 401(k) funds, plus immediately owing taxes on the withdrawn funds, is a strong disincentive.

          • We have ours… Great idea. We have ours… Just have to figure out how to protect it.

            • The better half distracted me…

      3. Europe’s Greater Depression is worse than the 1930s

        http://www.blacklistednews.com/Europe’s_Greater_Depression_is_worse

and Japan’s GDP down by; 6.8%

the 1% have recovered quite nicely
        the rest of us?

        hmm
        not so much

        as I’ve said before
there has been a paradigm change
things will never be the same
and I don’t mean that in a good way

        • Thanks for the regular updates and info Satori.

We all know what happened with the last Great Depression. Ten years of strife and then half a decade of global war. The way the chess pieces are being positioned today suggests a similar outcome for this generation.

          It’s a mess. A HUGE mess.

          • Mac,while I agree with the similarities would say more folks aware then they were decades back, might not fall for the BS again(yes, have faith and a bit of denial). That said, folks last go around were much better set to deal with hardship, these days seems illegal in many places to even have a garden! That said, have faith short of full scale nuke/planet killer comet ect. we will pull thru, just one hell of a tough/bloody/sad rough ride.

          • Mac, just want to give you a personal thank you for having this site! It’s a great source of information and exchange of viewpoints & ideas that includes those that comment.

            Thank you Mac!

            • Thanks CWR ! This web site is made possible by its community – the comments and conversations here are way more interesting and informative than anything I could ever post !

              Thanks all!

          • Mac,

Have you considered the possibility that “technology” being a force multiplier within a military/economic/social construct…that the destruction of said “technological prowess/base/foundation” could quite easily, set civilization back into the 18-19th centuries…for at least a generation or so…maybe longer.

…a decade may be an optimistic assessment!

Depends on whether or not they decide to let the nukes fly or use (hush-hush) scalar weaponry.

The survival of redundant skill-sets & knowledge is the key.

            • Hunter,
When you say Scalar weapons are you referring to HKKV’s ?
All the effects of a nuke bu no residual radiation.
Velocity x mass= energetic kenetic thermal transfer .
They say Black Projects are 50 years ahead of civil technology.

              Semper Fi 8541

              • Make that HVKKV
                Hyper Velocity Kenetic Kill Vehicles

                Semper Fi 8541

              • NightBreaker.

Supposedly, some “scalar weaponry” is also based on the genius of Nikola Tesla’s work. Some point to the HAARP array as an example…although I have some doubts about that.

Per the “Black Projects” stuff…I wouldn’t be surprised if they were 150 years ahead of accepted/mainstream technology.

                example.)…albeit a poor one!

…back in the late 50’s/early 60’s the USAF/USN had airborne jamming systems(ECM) capable of detecting a search radar or gun laying set(tracking)…then analyze its signal strength/its frequency & where it was located…then simultaneously manufacture a false signal directed at the enemy radar-set, convincing the operator viewing the scope(CTR) that said aircraft was at a different altitude/heading & +20 miles from where it actually was!

…and it would do it in 50ms (milliseconds).

                ——————–

                As for Tesla-tech weapons…yeah, I believe we’ve got ’em.
But w/ only 2 semesters of physics, such theory is beyond me!
Per the HVKKV’s…research “the rods from GOD”.

                ——————–

                Kudos to you, sir.
I look forward to your posts.

                • @ Hunter

                  Heard of Project Pegasus?

                  • No…but I’m interested. Got links?

          • Yes Mac: Its a mess. A huge mess. But predictable, and if predictable than an individual measure of control is possible too for some of US who are paying attention. That’s why we prep.

But it is also different this time. This time there will be Earth Changes too, to exacerbate the problems. Duck ‘N Cover! 🙁

            • Earth changes? Like what? Fill us in as to what they will be.

              • John W: Google “Earth Changes” or read Revelation again, and the Prophets. That should fill in the blanks for you. 🙂

        • As someone so eloquently put it before…linkie no workie!

        • Europe’s either heading for or already in a depression. Some countries; Greece, Portugal and Spain have in excess of 25% unemployment. Yet, the idiots that are running those countries are signing on to sanctions for Russia, further driving their GDP and employment down.

Why? Because our idiot president and the people running the EU thought it was a good idea to try to cripple Russia’s economy over the SUPPOSITION that Russia was going to invade Ukraine. They thought that Russia would stand idly by and just take it without retaliating.

These are the brilliant leaders of the free world that we are dependent upon for our security and to put policy’s in place to grow our economy and the economies of other nations.

With brilliant planners like these we can be assured that they will f this up beyond belief. I just hope that the generals controlling the nukes are smart enough to refuse the launch order.

          • Ocommie has purged the military leaders and installed his own cronies. They’ll do as their told Armageddon be damned.

          • Uhhh navy, they aren’t the planners. They do what theyre told by others above them to fit the agenda. Politicians are just puppets. Don’t fall for the bullshit that politicians make the decisions…

          • Europe is headed for a full scale uprising by their huge Muslim populations. Same thing here with all the illegals. They want to be in charge.

      4. You mean the markets are basically a ponzi scheme?!Your Kidding?!Damn,as a Yank who hates zombies,if only I had a plan!

        • No, no, no!

          This is no scheme!

It’s a Ponzi “System” and it works! (until it doesn’t)

          • Ponzi schemes work, unless you are the last person holding worthless paper like cash. So why play musical chairs if 99% are going to lose. Take your chips out and find a new game to play, with better odds, like prepping.

            • Ponzi schemes fail when enough investors want their money back and there are fewer new “investors” putting their money into the scheme, causing a liquidity crunch which reveals the fraud.

The Federal Reserve is the perfect Ponzi scheme because when an investor wants his money back, they can always print more.

Kill the FED. Death to the New World Order. Death to the North American Union!!! 🙂

              • RE: “Kill the FED.”

Wait a minute. … I thought you wrote a number of times how it was important and needed,… that is, if only you controlled it? …What did I miss?

I mean, are you saying the solution is for People to kind of go their own way and branch off from gunvernment as much as possible, even going so far as trading in units which are not FRNs?

                • Helot/CLARK: Wrong again!!! The FED is NOT required. It is a parasite: a group of private banks using Taxpayer money for their personal benefit.

The MECHANISMS of the FED are indispensable for a sophisticated economy and society. These mechanisms can be facilitated by the US Treasury.

ALL private money can be manipulated by the ISSUER just like the Private FED manipulates the FRN. So, no, I am not suggesting that Bit Coin or any other private script is secure and anyone using them, uses them at their own risk. 🙁

      5. YEAH.. The sky is falling Once Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just move on already… We all keep feeding eat other the Same ole’ ice cream we’ve been eating for years just in a different cup..

What if Nothing happens?? time well spent doing and worrying for nothing..

ONLY GOD.. OUR LORD!! KNOWS WHEN THE CURTAINS GONNA SHUT AND THE RUG PULLED OUT FROM UNDER US ALL.. Until then we are gonna just keep on eating the same ole’ ice cream

        • Yes Realist, you know you’ve a hit a nerve with the truth when the red thumbs brigade shows up in force. You’ve interrupted their gloom n’ doom fantasies and they’ll NEVER face up to it.

      6. Perhaps it will work, but to be safe will keep on buying things will need in case something goes wrong, everything I buy will use eventually excepting things like pressure tourniquets/blood clot ect.,hope I never need them!Once again folks, the dollar stores a great place for inexpensive lighter packs(good barter if safe to barter)basic bandages and lots of other little things for cheap. Some things you want to not go cheap on but basic gauze ect.(have opened a few0 and basic lighters ok,save the money for things that really count though these little items might just make a bad day a bit better.

        • Warchild. Amazon 50 lighters for $10. Stock up. Great barter item. Go buy 500 lighters for $100 bucks.

          • Well, fuck me!Who,had no idea could get large lots so inexpensively,100 for 18 bucks, buy over 200 and free shipping, beats the 3 for a buck at dollar store, but, for those who don’t want 100 dollar store still a deal, that said, when I finally collect for last gig getting me some lighters!

            • Warchild. Yep I bought a hundred lighters a few years ago, and still have not burned through a dozen yet. Put a dozen lighters in each bug out bag. In SHTF they will go for $5-Each. Great barter item.

Here is another Prepper Lighter TIP- These lighters you can adjust the flame. With a needle-nose pliers, take off the metal flame shield, turn the wheel counterclockwise, Then reattach the metal flame guard back on. You can have an instant torch 6+ inches tall. But make sure you write with a Black Sharpie “TORCH” on the side of the lighter, so you keep track of which one you adjusted, and don’t hurt you self. This Torch will work great in windy or wet conditions if you have to start a fire in emergency condition. Of course the higher the flame the quicker the fuel will run out. Good Luck!!

              • Who,as I travel for work a bit to different friends places always bring some kind of prep but useful now gifts, lighter 3 packs was one of them, next time will be dozen packs. As I have said before,my hunting day bag for vehicle and full blown time to go pack also have ferrous rods and other fire making stuff a lighter(s)always a big addition to em.While I usually use a Zippo me self know my lighter, that said have brought disposables on job sites and put name on em with a Sharpie, careful, that supposed indelible ink will wear off in a pocket!

                • Warchild. That is good. Lighters are just one part of fire making. I too have all the rods and fire steel. Add some drier lint in a zip lock bag to add to woodchips and tinder. I have the firetabs too for cooking. Bulk buy is best. The prices are climbing on that too. Example. I bought a 1000 ft spool of camo 550 paracord for $29 just a few years ago. Today it is $39 for only 750 ft spool. So prepping and bulk buying helps. Find a preppr friend and split up your bukk purchases. I’m passing some of my extra preps down to my nephew who’s trying to put a bug out bag together on a colle kids budget.

      7. This report & many before it, plus a long string of social/economic/governmental abuses of power and “elitist funded” provocations/schemes…will be bearing fruit for the privileged few…soon.

You’re NOT on that list. Neither am I.

…although, methinks their profit will be short-lived!

Thankfully, I am fortunate to have found this site…as the reams of useful data/recipes & truths…have been a Godsend!!!

My thanks is extended to the awakened/knowledgeable & the strong ones here, may GOD protect you & yours.

        • Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance, the 6 p’s.That said,Paranoid Prepper Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance,we needs the 8’P’s for us,plus, included a Black Sabbath song title, anyone wanna go for the 9p’s,let the challenge begin!

          • Perfect paranoid prepper perception in pre-planning & prevention for personal protection prevents piss poor performance & panic in public places period!!!!

            • OK one better. Perhaps Perfect paranoid prepper perception in pre-planning & prevention for personal protection prevents piss poor performance & panic in public places period!!!!

      9. How about meds for diabetes. People don’t get those on a regular basis will die. without a delivery system its over.

        • I have read that diabetes is reversible in many people if they change their diets and do more exercise. Everyone with diabetes should think about that. It would be a lot better to cure the diabetes than have to try to find medicine later on.

          • Only at the outset does diet do any good, and even then only for a few years. Type 2 is NOT permanently reversible. Been there, done that. There is no cure. Heck, nobody even knows for sure what the biochemistry is. All they know for sure is that your insulin is somehow blocked from doing it’s job in the metabolism.

I’m 70, have been Type 2 for about 18 years. It only gets worse with time.

          • Archivist … Type II diabetes is reversible in some people with diet and exercise. Although the longer one has it, the less likely that type of reversal is.

Type I diabetes is not reversible. Type one diabetics can not secrete insulin which is the main controller of blood sugar levels.

Unfortunately, those with Type I will be dead two to four weeks after their insulin runs out, unless they can figure out a way to make insulin from animal pancreases.

My ex has Type I. I have been urging her to stock up on insulin. Don’t know if she has or not. She realizes the risk and understands the need to prep. Insulin does have a shelf life, so after a certain amount of stock, buying more is non productive.

            • Folks died in Katrina for hat very reason. Also kidney and heart failure.

            • My daughter is a nurse, but she has had her thyroid glands removed, her doctor will only write her a prescription for a 30 day supply. Unfortunatley we all know the outcome in a shtf situation.

              • Don’t give up because of thyroid issues. My daughter had hers out too. I’ve stocked up a 3 year supply of synthroid. Way before that’s gone we’ll be set up making our own (natural, not synthetic). Learn how now!
                molon labe

              • I got a stockpile of synthroid from a Canadian pharmacy on line. No prescription.

            • The shelf life is a variable, it does not go from 100% to 0%, but to perhaps 40% and no further. So even older insulin stocks are going to have some treatment value, with dosages adjusted accordingly.

Do lay in a supply, and consider the storage. Keeping it with the foodstuffs means lots of temperature variation as food is accessed. Keep it separate, in a separate cold storage unit, is a good concept.

              • He’s talking synthroid, not insulin. Synthroid is in tablet form and would take many years before degrading. If you’re using natural derivatives, they would degrade faster, but then your making your own anyway.

Insulin can be home made after shtf. It would be difficult, but not impossible. I think a major problem for insulin dependents would be staying alive long enough to get a system going to make your own. Good reason if you’re in that situation to get it figured out now.
                molon labe

            • Type I diabetics need insulin and they should stock up on it. If they are in a position that they do not have any insulin, they can prolong their life by going on a ketongenic diet. Essentially the paleo diet in extreme- minimal carbs, mostly fats and protein. This was used for diabetics before insulin was available as a treatment.

Type II diabetes may become insulin dependent. One thing that is not being publicized is some of the modern insulins cause the body to create antibodies to insulin cells and this turns a type II diabetic into a type I. There has been very little publicized about this but once the lawyers get ahold of this, I think we will see a major controversy within the diabetic community. If any of you are type II diabetics on insulin, go online and do some research on this topic to make sure you are on one that is safe.

Ketogenic diets work with type II diabetes too. Diet and exercise and maintaining a healthy weight can often manage type II diabetes, especially in the early stages.

It might also be possible to get insulin from pigs, as they used to do. I do not know the process for this but it ought to be doable since it has been around for more than sixty years. I have also heard that camels milk is a good source of insulin but I do not know how to make it usable for a diabetic.

        • I am in Farmville.. you nearby?

          • Afraid not. I’m in the City of Townsville.

BILLY PRESTON. Folks really I’m just hangin on to see how many of the lights out useless eater catch it before my turn comes around. They are merely wood and sawdust shavings that are swept up and put on the fire. You’ll at least get the warmth in heat more so than any other benefit you would receive from their leftist BS.

      11. What’s the over/under on the amount of time we have left until it all goes up? I haven’t done a strategic relocation yet due to family commitments, or I would already be in Montana. Now it looks like I should be clear to make the move in around two years.

I just hope this rattletrap holds together that long. If there’s going to be privation, disease and world war, I’d rather watch it from a remote(ish) ranch in MT than where I’m at now, for sure.

        • The over/under here is just guessing, to be perfectly honest. But, if we’re looking for a date, Martin Armstrong has put forth Some extremely solid analysis that points to a Major turning point in the economic and war cycles circa September 2015. Whatever happens around this time next year will snowball into the worst of it…

Some good reading material here: https://www.shtfplan.com/martin-armstrong

And also check out Armstrong economics – specifically his essays over the last five years.. There is a wealth of knowledge there, complete with extensive cyclical analysis : http://www.armstrongeconomics.com/

          • Gee, Mac, someone here has been saying SHTF in 2015 for four or five years now. Who is that masked man? 🙂

            • RE: “Who is that masked man? :-)”

Gawd, you are soo full of yourself.

Also, RE: “someone here has been saying SHTF in 2015 for four or five years now” …That would Not be you.

Never once did you put out a date.
              Not. Ever.
So get over your B.S. puffiness. It’s pukey.

              • Helot/CLARK: Wrong again!!! Longtime readers know better than the dribble you spout. Check the archives!!!

                Or ask Mac. 🙂

        • montana?

i suggest you go live there first, rent for a year, then decide whether or not to buy.

          And pack a gun.

          • Point taken.

            • I live in Montana. Before you just decide to move to Montana, decide what climate you would prefer to live in. Montana is large and the climate and everything else as far as that goes is quite different throughout the state.

              • I’m currently studying Montana, I’ve visited it a couple of times before and I’ll be visiting again before moving out there. I currently live in one of the coldest locations in the lower 48, so I already know about cold and am not afraid of anything MT presents in that respect (though I have a healthy respect for the volume of snow in MT, which we don’t get as much of here). But for cold, MT would be more of a break from what I’m used to most of the time. Mostly I want western MT and the mountains/higher elevations, which I’ve often visited but never been able to live in. ID would work for me as well or maybe even WY, but I’ve had some fantastic particular experiences in MT that kind of color my decision-making I guess. Anyway, I’ll be visiting the area again at least once or twice in the next couple of years, hopefully for some hiking and fly fishing and to scout out towns.

        • Our Republic has faced down the dominate military power on the plane twice while we were an undeveloped backwater, we survived our civil war, we survived the Great Depression, won WWII (aka beat fascist ass like it was a drum), and won the ‘cold war’. But no! The little piddling problems of today will be our end! We cannot survive these minor inconveniences, the only logical result is that our Republic must end….

Grow a dick and handle your business (‘Piney’ from SOA)! I am so tired of hearing from quitters and non-hackers! Develop marketable skills, invest wisely over the long term, work for your pay, and eventually enjoy a conformable retirement.

          • Oops! I meant planet not plane…

          • I hope you’re right and fear you’re wrong. Sounds like you might have some pretty strong normalcy bias…it’s been good for the US for a long time, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to stay that way. And we’ve never had the kind of debt/GDP situation we have combined with the crappy leadership we have. There are no Lincolns or FDRs or Reagans around that I can see. Maybe Ron Paul was on that order, but we rejected him, and probably for the last time in a political race.

I’ve basically had my sense of patriotism stripped from me I guess. I don’t with the US ill, but I certainly won’t willingly give my life for it anymore. For the sake of those I love I hope someone pulls a rabbit out of the hat, but I’m preparing for the case where it doesn’t happen.

By all means, refuse to prepare if you want, but I don’t see the sense in that.

          • Oh if there was only some one around like you to remind the Romans that they invented the aqueducts, built the coliseum, arches, roads, the modern alphabet, conquered the whole known world, and struggled through multiple civil wars.
They should’ve sucked it up and shown more faith in the Sestertius as inflation was just a figment of their imaginations. The political corruption is just a sign of a healthy functioning government and in no way compromises the freedoms, liberty, and stability of the nation.
I have a time machine, runs on dorritos, please go save Rome.

            • Oops, forgot to login while posting, forgive the double dribble.

          • If only you were around in the days of Rome. You could have been a true inspiration. After all, they built the coliseum, arches, aqueducts, roads, the modern alphabet conquered the whole known world, struggled through several civil wars.
A simple reminder that the Sestertius was strong and inflation was non-existent would have revived national pride. They should have gone long and BTFD, after all Edictum De Pretiis Rerum Venalium had it all under control.
            No worries here. Move along.
            Enjoy your conforming retirement.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
            ― Samuel Adams

          • nosuchuser, Beat the facists? We ARE the fascist in case you didn’t notice! Same with europe. Retirement? Don’t count on that one either, Where the fook do you get your news man?

        • The sad thing is that no one really knows. It could all start 5 minutes from now or 5 years from now. This is why I suggest striking a balance. Live your life. Enjoy your family and friends. However, have a good backup plan in place. As wonderful as Montana may be, it may not be practical for your particular balance. It has a short growing season and there may not be work for you in a field you are qualified for. My suggestion (that I haven’t yet put into practice) is to have a location to go to that is isolated and no more than three days walk from where you live. Build something like a giant carport on the property that will give you immediate shelter from rain and that you could close in fairly quickly with local materials. Seed the ground on the property with food crops, but spread them out so they are not an actual garden. Use the roof of the carport to catch rain water into barrels or a cistern. Why not build a complete building? Well, unless you live there, people WILL be on your property. You don’t want to make it look too inviting or else they will decide that your “abandoned” BOL is going to be their BOL. If that happens, you may need to fight for your own property! Plus, you don’t want to set up something that makes a good meth lab. If you do, you risk having it polluted with toxic chemicals by an armed, meth-crazed lunatic that feels no pain. If you want a ready-made structure, how about staging an old camper at a self storage place a few miles away? You can then park the camper under the carport and keep it from the sun on hot days, thus keeping it 10-20 degrees cooler inside than it would otherwise be.

      12. I went to the store today with my daughter to pick up a few items. We went up and down every isle just to look at things. I was amazed how much stuff costs vs the size of the package. 12 oz of crappy cereal 4 bucks on sale! 8 oz of cheese for 3 bucks. The list goes on and on. It’s unbelievable how anyone can survive the increase in prices. I have a decent job as a builder/carpenter but even with the money I make it doesn’t go far. We don’t live paycheck to paycheck but it’s getting harder every month to make things work. I feel sorry for the younger generation. Living on a tight budget is going to be harder and harder. Taxes eat up too much of anyone’s income. Taxes upon taxes…..

The least of my worries is loosing money in the market. I’ve never gambled in my life and I’m not about to start now.

I recently read that our local “police” have acquired 78 “assault rifles”. Hand me down’s from the feds. It’s starting to get closer and closer.

        • I live pretty far out in the sticks. I can see three houses from my front patio. The closest one is half a mile away. I was just sitting out there watching the clouds blow by and I hear the Ice Cream Truck coming. You know the song… Couldn’t believe it. Imagine that poor dude’s job. Gas at 3.50 a gallon and him driving way the hell out here! WOW! When I was a kid popsicles were 10 cents. Now they must be 2 or 3 bucks! Depressing…

          • When I was in 2nd grade, the Popsicles and Fudgsicles were 6 cents. The better ice cream, such as Dreamsicles and Dixie Cups were 10 cents. The next year the school took the ice cream freezer away. Kennedy was still president.

            • Always enjoyed the flat wood “spoons” that were handed out with the Dixie Cups. 🙂

              • Man, you are old to remember that ……

                • If you remember that little capsules of red dye that you mixed into that tub of margerine during the war years (to make it look like butter)….. now THAT’S old.

                  • My hubby remembers, but he was little….:)

                • Who you calling old, punk?

                  Damn kids nowadays….

              • The days before everything was plastic were great. I liked the paper straws they gave us in the lunch room for milk. They weren’t even wrapped individually. If you didn’t drink your milk fast enough, the straw would get soggy. I liked to take a straw, mash the end flat, and snip off the corners. That would make the end into a double reed like an oboe. You could really make a racket blowing a paper straw.

                • Coke with old school cap out of the water bath chiller

            • Then they took Kennedy away

          • The song, not perhaps “Ice Cream Man” from Van Halen?!Wrong, plenty of deals still on food and try growing when possible.I have not done it yet but the PVC hydro garden that is vertical and can be set on wheels looks cool as hell and space saving, could even do it on a apt. balcony.Everything we do to get out of the matrix even a little bit makes us stronger and to a nith degree helps starve the beast.

            • Maybe “Popsicle” from 1966 by Jan & Dean:

              www (dot) youtube (dot) com/watch?v=Bh0HXX3xApU

            • Warchild, I guess you don’t have any defective federal ammo to send me. BUT! I have some to sell you lol. Better hurry before I trade it for some good stuff 🙂

              • Genius,I believe in truth all I have Federal wise is a bunch of 100 round 12 gauge bird shot boxes, was on sale @wally world for 22 a box of 100 two years back and we bought a lot,and do mean a lot!Is at his home and after reading your post realize might be a good idea to stop by and go out in his backwoods and run some thru,if garbage will actually post the lot #’s as I imagine this sale was nationwide.Great, potentially a few hundred bucks down the drain for each of us,did a 40 mile loop and hit all the stores!

                • Warchild, It’s probably ok for hunting because a dud here and there won’t hurt you but for defense I would go with something else.

          • I think we have all experienced that sticker shock and it’s only going to get worse. If everything just sort of muddles along, we will see record high food prices over the fall. The western drought has destroyed much of our fall and winter food production so now scarcity will drive prices higher. I’m starting a fall garden (where I live has a very long growing season) and plan to learn how to can, just in case. I sure as heck can’t keep paying these prices.

Besides that, I did an experiment. During my usual 2am Wal Mart expedition I decided to look at supplies needed for an Ebola outbreak. They were fresh out of surgical masks, as well as running out of multivitamins. I chuckled to myself and felt rather smug for having already bought some. Even so, I also bought hand sanitizer and a little more bottled water. While I doubt Ebola will be a big thing in the US, I’m not taking any chances. Come to think of it… I think I’ll order more 3M 1870 masks (TB rated) and get more gloves…just n case.

            • RE: “I think we have all experienced that sticker shock and it’s only going to get worse.”

              Yeah, that.

How-ever; imho, multi-vitamins suck. Better to look for high quality individual vitamins. …If you don’t know which, just ask Margaret Durst. She’s Da Bomb.

              • Helot/CLARK: YOU should check with Margret, because you obviously need a good CLEANSE!!! LMAO!!! 🙂

        • “It’s unbelievable how anyone can survive the increase in prices”

My wife and I have been saying the same thing. Together we do OK (60+) and we are having a hard time making it work. Since we don’t hear anyone complaining much about food prices we think its because their not paying for it. In other words we think they are using EBT for food expenses and don’t care what it costs.

          • maddog – I asked the check out girl today how many people pay with the ebt card. She laughed and said, more than half and then quietly said “and they buy the worst junk we sell”.

            • Thanks for the insightful comments, wrong. Interesting and down to earth opinions.

          • Good point. But, you will hear them scream when the EBT cards quit working. “It’s not fair to make me pay for my food. You got food. Give me some of yours”!

          • I work around the prices. I almost never buy anything unless it is on sale. If it’s a good sale, I buy a lot, as in cases.

Sugar is relatively cheap right now, so I’m stocking up. You can’t buy too much at one time or you have to sign the “poison book” like you used to sign to buy paregoric. They think you might be bootlegging. So I buy a few bags at a time from more than one store.

If I don’t won’t anyone knowing what I bought, I borrow the clerk’s store card to get the sale price instead of using one of my own. I loan my own card to other shoppers. The store’s computer doesn’t know if I’m Mexican or what.

I only buy meat when it’s about to go out of date and the store marks it down for clearance. I’ll either cook it immediately or freeze it.

Cereals are cheaper if you buy the Malt-O-Meal or other brands that come in the big bags.

I’m still using canned corn I bought a couple of years ago. The local Roses store had 4-packs for $1. That’s only 25 cents a can. I bought a whole shopping cart full.

Having a garden helps a lot. Also having neighbors to trade vegetables with helps. One neighbor’s tomatoes did much better than mine, so they have given me almost more than I can eat.

If you can get to a Sam’s Club, they have some items that are cheaper than your local stores’ best sale prices. An example in my case is bratwurst. Sam’s has it much cheaper than our local stores ever have it, even on sale.

Because of buying in bulk when groceries are on sale, there are some weeks when I buy nothing other than a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread. That certainly beats $100 every single week.

I think we eat pretty well too. We’re having pork chops tonight. And tomorrow lunch, we might be having some of those 59 cent cheeseburgers at Wendy’s. Our Wendy’s has hamburgers for 49 cents and cheeseburgers for 59 cents on Tuesdays and Sundays. The senior beverages are free (advantage of being older). You can hardly make a meal at home that cheap. We never eat out unless there’s a serious discount or we have some really good coupons.

And never forget shopping around and clipping coupons. You don’t have to be an “Extreme Couponer” to save serious money on your groceries.

            • Excellent comment, Archivist.

            • Costco is another good one for volume buys, but I won’t use them because they track you. I never buy a lot of anything at one time, though. Buy double what you need today, do it again next week, week after week. Keeps the data miner search algorithms thinking that you just have a large family.

              • We really like Aldi’s.

                • Aldi’s is good but rather small in size around my home. They just don’t carry the inventory I hoped they would. Sam’s for me is 45 minutes away from me for either of the two closest locations. I usually go every two to three months but I have to weigh fuel costs as well. The other direction, fuel and toll (8 bucks for the bridge).

                  • Dang. What I Don’t like about Aldi’s is that the checkers seem almost dementedly determined to dent my canned goods. They all too often seem to get a thrill out of slamming my canned goods down into the shopping cart after they were scanned, it’s as if they are in a race against a ghost checker in the next isle? …Or, maybe they have something against canned goods in general? Kind of like how my old dog would chew certain things, or chase cars and seem to want to bite the tires? …Yeah, Aldi checkers in my neck of the woods seem to have ‘that’ attitude about slamming cans into the grocery cart. If it weren’t for that, I’d go there. Twice, or four times, was enough for me. …I’ll pay double elsewhere, Thank You.

            • Just curious how many here wonder what “meat” is in a 59 cent burger…….

              • Answer- worm burgers I believe. We avoid all fast food places for best results.

                • Actually, I think worms would still cost more than 70% hamburger.

They’re pretty good, but you need to eat several of them. But that’s still a lot cheaper than buying one larger burger.

              • Google “Mc Donalds wood pulp”. You’ll be shocked at what you find!

                • Actually check up on the cellulose filler.
Many products have it now, including most health food products. You pay more for inert filler.
Cellulose is wood pulp precursor to paper.

            • Archivist

“You can’t buy too much at one time or you have to sign the “poison book” like you used to sign to buy paregoric.”

What is this about? I never heard of a limit on sugar.

              • Maybe it was only in NC, but it was meant to stop moonshiners. When my mother was making preserves, my father would have to sign to buy enough sugar at one time.

It may not be law anymore, since I haven’t bought that much at one time. But it was back in the 1960s here.

                • That is true. The real dirt bag ‘moonshiners’ (aka crack dealers) would use pure cane sugar to make their spirits instead of using an honest grain bill as ‘GOD’ intended!

“Sugar ‘Shine'” is offensive to any honest drinking man and the makers need to suffer the ultimate penalty for their sins…

                  • Not only sugar but SALT. Many many uses for salt and it’s cheap.

                  • You wouldn’t believe how many do make a straight up “sugar shine”. And yes it is a sin.

                  • A buddy of mine who runs a wine store told me about making the best homemade vodka. Take your 20 lbs of potatoes,
peel and wash then shred them. Mix in 2 gallons of water and 15 lbs of confectionary sugar not regular sugar. Put that in your fermenter for 2 months and follow normal procedures.

          • We raise most of our own food these days, good thing too, or we’d be living on ramen noodles. Only thing we buy is bread, milk, cheese and butter, salt pepper, spices. Everything else we pretty much grow. No EBT here but food prices are so freaking high I feel for those that can’t. For holidays and birthdays, mothersday ect, everyone gets a bag of home grown meat now and everyone loves it. I opened my mom’s freezer the other day and was shocked..she only had 2 small packs of porkchops (both less that a pound a costed 5 bucks each) and a small pack of chicken. She said that’s all she could afford, so I took her some stuff. We take her lots of veggies all spring summer and fall too. I see the prices going up every time I walk into the local grocery, it’s just plain crazy how high everything is anymore 🙁

        • What is really nice is that no one in a leadership position has laid out a vision or plan for our economy going forward. I have yet to hear a solid plan as to how America will ever get turned around and back on it’s feet. Most people are now just content to be surviving and hope to be able to survive down the road. This is not how we used to live, at least not me.

          • I have said this for a long time. Every time I am told that I’m full of shit and everything is fine “we are the richest country in the world”. I say “then tell me how we pay 17 trillion in debt, social security with an empty trust fund (IOU’s only) and all the other free gimmes”. They tell me I just don’t like Obama cause he’s black. WTF, holy shit the world has gone fucking crazy.

          • There is no plan that would not start nationwide riots the day after it is published. And not just among the welfare classes, either. If they are thinking about it at all, it’s only to figure out how to avoid the pitchforks.

      13. Fleckenstein says, “It’s still not possible to say when it’s going to change and what’s going to be the catalyst.”

The catalyst will be the same as it was last time – an attempt to take land away from Israel in exchange for “peace”.

That’s what it was in 2007/2008 and that’s what it’ll be next time.

        • Maybe that. But I’m fond of the now-old line about “unknown unknowns”. True Black Swans that hit you when you are not looking.

        • There are some facts to support your theory Grafique.

        • Graf= you have it all backwards. It’s returning land back to the people the Jews stole it from and squatted on. 85% of people who call themselves Jews today originated from the land mass which is the country of Georgia. Even the DNA from Bebee NetnYahoo has no family ties to the land he tries to claim. Submit your DNA in and they will track it back to East Russia. This is the Big Lie Jews today try to claim as they Murder Palestinians and steal their land and squat on. Of course Factual World History means nothing to Tribal Cabal Zog thieves.

Excellent Interview: Helen Thomas clarifies this for you Graf: CNN Helen Thomas ‘Jews don’t have the right to take other people’s land’ –
          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy_cUpxT884

Of course the CNN Interviewer Joy Behar is a Confused Jew who live the Big Lie.

          • I have more evidence than you do. But you have to be willing to see.

            • OK Grafique. PO’s Granny told me to look this up so I did, and She was right. Revelations:

HOW CAN THE JEWS who oppose their own Messiah, Jesus Christ, be the “Chosen People?”

Did not St Paul, the Hebrew of Hebrews, say that the Jews are the enemies of the Cross? (Philippians 3 )

When St Paul said, “The Jews killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets; they please not God but are contrary to all men: Forbidding us to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath of God is come unto them to the uttermost,” did he not make it crystal clear that the Jews are not the “Chosen People?”

And did not Jesus Christ Himself reveal that the Jews are of the Synagogue of Satan? (Revelations 2). Jesus Christ also revealed that the Jews are not true Jews when He said to the Christians of Asia Minor, I will make them who say they are Jews but are not, but do lie, to come and worship before thy feet. (Revelations 3).

How then can the so-called Jews who are now the enemies of the Cross and of the Synagogue of Satan, and who must worship at the feet of Christians, be the “Chosen People?”

Now personally, I could care less about Religion, but even the same Bible you claim to preach out of says this.

Graf, you again are exposed to be a Fraud. And Thanks PO’s Granny, prompting my curiosity to clarify what the Bible says. Again. This is the battle you chose Graf, and I know it really gets to you when people point out facts you cannot dispute from the same source you misinterpret.

              • I don’t take Bible lessons from an atheist. You’re wrong and I’ll leave it at that.

                • The problems with the world’s economy, with America’s unrest, with outbreaks of plague, are due to America’s and the world’s rejection of Israel, which God has returned to his land.

Don’t listen to the lies of those who say that God has forsaken Israel. God promised that he would not forsake Israel his people.

                  Jeremiah 30:10, 11 –
10 Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make [him] afraid.
11 For I [am] with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

                  Amos 9:14, 15 –
14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit [them]; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.

Those who say that God has forsaken Israel speak lies. These promises God made – thousands of years ago – are being kept today. God doesn’t make promises, then break them.

                  • Here’s what God says will happen to those who are against Israel, his people –

                    Jeremiah 30:16, 17 –
16 Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.
17 For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, [saying], This [is] Zion, whom no man seeketh after.

                • Graf – I am quoting from the Same Bible you claim to Quote from or assume we will not look up the facts. I am not an Athiest, nor am I a true believer in your Religious Jew fantasy. However this does expose you as a Shill that claims you weeks back claimed you are a christian but bow down to Jews as somehow the chosen people. So what are you exactly? The world is waiting for your response. I would rather talk about prepping, but I will not let you get away with spewing lies and untruths, and I will call you out every time. Your biggest enemy is the truth, not me.

                  • Don’t put words in my mouth, fool. I never said I “bow down” to anyone.

I know exactly what I’m talking about when I talk about Bible prophecy. I’ve studied and taught it for years. Your problem is that you never read what I post – whenever you see me post the words “Israel” or “Jew” you just automatically vomit out some hateful, filthy, blasphemous words.

Not only that but you’re a liar. You claim that you want to talk about prepping, but many of your posts are attacks against Jews and Christians. They aren’t in response to anyone else’s posts, they’re just unprovoked attacks.

You say my biggest enemy is the truth. That’s ridiculous. My support for Jewish Israel comes straight from the Bible.

So you’re not an atheist, huh? Alright then Mr. Quote-the-Bible Christian, suppose you post just ONE verse out of the Bible which says that God has forever given up on Israel. Just ONE.

Here’s some free advice – grow up and learn how to relate to people without insults and attacks.

      14. and what year do you guys think this is going to happen? i’ve been reading this stuff for years now.it has been up and down sorry mostly down. do you think the 1% will lose all theirs, a long with the few of us. i think they will keep it rolling or hope they do. i’ve worked way to hard for my money. to wipe my a** on, it will really suck to lose it because of bets on wall street

        • Naaah, they won’t lose anything. In fact, they will profit from the collapse. They own more than just paper. They have physical wealth in the form of the means of production and land. Plus, should it hit the hyperinflation scenario, those at the top get the newly minted money first. This gives the advantage of being the first mover in the market. The rest of us will see the new money as inflation. This lets them shunt our wealth (money is not necessarily wealth) up to them as we will be forced to live with less and less and they will have the money to take advantage of our liquidation of our belongings during the crisis. Even if this all lead to a Marxist revolution, they would still be behind the scenes directing it as an invisible hand. When the revolution ends, their “expertise” will be needed to set up the new order. Thus they will still have all the wealth because they will still control the means of production.

          • Ah, Winston Smith. It seems like you’ve never heard of the expression, “Crack-Up Boom”. “They” may have the advantage of being the first mover in the market, but That only lasts so long.

However; I agree, “The rest of us will see the new money as inflation.” Or, when you say “inflation” what you mean is, a rise in prices.

Where I disagree with you is, “When the revolution ends, their “expertise” will be needed to set up the new order.”

Why is that? It almost seems like you cheer-lead for them there. What is the ‘need’ for “them” at that point? To set-up more of the same?

For 5000 plus years gold served as money, there was no need of money-changers and the bullshit middle-men you seem to imply as necessary to set up a better way with a, ‘New Order’ unless it was in order to control people, as a master to a slave.

If “they” did succeed, it’d just be more of the same.

Psft.. And yet, If “they” control the means of production, they will fail.

I only say that because, as every adventure into Socialism has demonstrated, owning and controlling the means of production Always leads to destruction.

Crimeiny man, will you stop writing as if Socialism is a dominant and successful system?

      15. a Very Dangerous person…

“A person that has nothing, has nothing to lose.”

Eventually as society in amerika reaches rock bottom there will be more and more pockets of Revolution.

It’s guaranteed 3% of the population will Fight Back, plan and commit crimes deliberately for Their and their Families Survival.

They will Choose in desperation to cross that legal Line and become “Pirates and Patriots”.

        It’s already started.

        jacks

        • I wouldnt put pirates and patriots in the same category

          • My Great, great’s were terrorist’s according to king George. The Mc Robert’s a way’s back in the family had to live Scotland in 1747 in a BIG hurry. As the fly said: It’s all in how you look at it.

            • So true, perception,
Rather be a Pirate or a Patriot than a safe boot licking libtard

              • Key phrase there: “boot licking”

On the Right, or the Left, it matters not. They are all the same.

Also, I can’t hardly imagine a boot licking pirate, but a boot licking patriot, that’s easy, they chant, “USA! USA! USA!” and are blind to everything else.
…As if words have no meaning.

      16. Beer is getting cheaper 24 pack $15. Or maybe cause I been choosing a cheaper brand. Ha..

        • Hamm’s special light 30pk. my store $10.99 less filling taste’s great!

          • From The Land of Sky Blue Waters, Hamm’s Beer…….

            • LOL.. I am orig from Wisconsin. More bars per capita than anywhere else in America. Miller Brewing Company was founded in 1855 by Frederick Meuller when he purchased the small Plank-Road Brewery. Many immigrants who legally immigrated through Staten Island And Liberty Island, changed their names to more American names and he changed his name to MILLER. Thus Miller Brewing.

Jews did the same thing in changing their names, like Jack Ruby who killed Oswald. His original name was Jack Rubinstein, strip bar owner. He killed the patsy to cover up the trail to the Fed Reserve Rothchilds. Who killed Kennedy. Look up Executive Order June 4th 1963 EO-11110 when Kennedy tried to end the Loan sharks scam by the Fed Reserve Banksters loaning money to the US Government at inflated rates. This EO cut into the bankster’s profits, so they had Kennedy Killed. Of course the media covered it up, as they are from the same Tribe Originating from the land called Georgia/West Russia.

              • WhoWuddaThunkIt… Lincoln was murdered for the same reason, although the Fed style bank was’nt running things then, officially anyway. JFK printed up United States Notes and released 2 and 5 dollar notes into circulation. He also had printed higher value notes that were set for circulation as he was murdered. They were destroyed by the Fed after his death. The 2 and 5 dollar denominations can be bought from some coin and currency dealers. The 2 dollar bill is worth around 15 dollars in crisp uncirculated condition.

      17. My elderly Mum came to stay for a week the other day and I made sure to thank her for all the stuff she taught me at home that we weren’t taught in school. Boring stuff for some like how to keep a home clean on a budget and how to scratch cook, basic gardening principles, recognise a few wild foods etc, put up a simple shelf, balance a cheque book etc.

Now more than ever we need to be ensuring our kids have as many “old time” skills as we can remember ourselves, or find the mentors to pass onto them while there is still time. This needs to become a way of life, so that our kids have the critical thinking skills to make, fix and defend before their personal emergency moments hit.

SHTF is rolling round the globe and I constantly remind myself that during the great depression at the start of the last century many American’s simply starved to death. There’s a tendency to focus on violence and war but communities in extreme poverty tend to succumb to disease and sickness caused by poor sanitation and hygiene far more often than they do to the bullet. Dirty water is more likely to wipe more of us out than advanced weaponry.

I’ve stopped thinking of it as “prepping” more as adapting our lifestyle on a permanent to meet the challenges of a changing world so we don’t join the Dodo.

I’m in the UK and historically the lot of the working class has not been a happy one here- we got a few good years but now the elite want to revert to the norm of suffering and misery for the masses while the 1% get high on the hog. (Look at the Highland clearances, the Victorian child prostitution rates or the Irish potato famine for brief examples. Hey, rationing IMPROVED the diet for over 60% of the nations children in WW2). This time round emigrating to a land of milk and honey won’t be an option for our brightest and bravest cos shtf on a global scale.

Only a fool believes the politicians lies about the economy over the evidence of their utility and grocery bills.

I’m currently practising a new recipe every week with beans and pulses – appetite fatigue sets in if you only have one way to prep an ingredient and beans and rice are a staple diet in bad situations. Hoping that by practising now when we can still afford to turn our noses up at a dish that’s not to our particular tastes we’ll avoid that particular pitfall. In the process I’ve decided to add more split red lentils to our stores as they need less soaking (& therefore water) than other dried pulses and couscous/quinoa to create a little variety from rice. I’m also dehydrating more onions and peppers.

        • Here is a different bean recipe for you:

1 can of chile beans, or chile tasting beans (optional)
          1 can of hominy (drained)
          Mix, heat, eat.

Since Hominy is a form of corn, (I think maize in the UK?), you get the three sisters nutritional effect; that is, you get a complete protein.

          • Add a can of corned beef hash to that. Or rice.

      18. Even though times are getting tough, it is even more important to keep your body in good physical condition. I rode 18 miles today on my bicycle. One of the best investments I ever made. Stress reducer and helps me sleep at night. Get your family involved and at least go for walks or hikes. I also enjoy going kayaking. All part of my bugout options.

      19. “Bottom line: the whole system’s going to detonate and it will probably be a whole lot worse than what we saw in 2008.”

        Eh!
        Who cares,,,,
I cansit on my porch in the dark and eat kale and potatoes for months

        • You live in a tropical paradise and the best you can do is months of KALE and potatoes? EWWWWWWWW

          • In Florida here my Pineapples have been coming in for weeks. I use them in all sorts of meals. Chicken and Pineapple over pasta tonight. Delicious!! Packed with vitamin “C”

          • Dear Paranoid,

Your objection to potatoes, I ‘get’. They aren’t Paleo, Or Primal.
However; the kale – whoa – that stuff is Fantastic!
Not only does it taste Great if it is cooked and served right, but it’s high in magnesium and K2.
I guess vitamin deficient people might not ‘get’ all that? It’s complicated shit, you’re prolly better off following the gunvernment’s Food Pyramid, I mean, the gunvernmet Loves you, right? You can Feel their Love and sensibilities every time you go outside… right?

            • Don’t forget how high Kale is in iron, it’s packed full of that too 🙂

          • Kulafarmer

I’ll take his rations of Kale and potatoes. ;0)

      20. Kula, potatoes and kale? With all the tourists you have just think of em as a herd of cattle, the other other white meat!Kidding,I think…..

        • Yeaaaa, think Ill pass,
Know where theres a herd of goats and if that fails a bunch of cows

          • About a 1/3 of the island is sugar cane and about 1/4 Pineapple eh Kula? How about the seafood? When I went scuba diving, I did not see much of anything big for gamefished. Over fished?

            • Quite overfished in high traffic spots but have some real good areas on the south east end, tons of deer, can hear them barking at night and early morning real close to our farm, they hang out near my friends place right above our house, not much pineapple now, lots of sugar though, was just being sarcastic about the kale and potatoes, the potatoes volunteer all over our farm and i have about 3/4 acre of kale growing right now, so enough to gag an army, i blanch it and make a slaugh or salads, or dehydrate with a mish mash of cashews, dietary yeast lemon juice and some other stuff,

              • Wow, I would not have expected deer in the Island. More wild pig though. Thus the pig pit good and tasty. . East end harder to get too. HANA hwy or the south Trail. Via Jeep. I went down that way. Saw a few abandoned burned out cars. That Lava Rock is some sharp stone.

                • That lava area on the south east side is propably the best place to go if bugging out, caves, a solar still to desalinate, with catchment, and even some brackish pools, lots to eat seafood wise, plus i doubt you would have many eyes looking for you, there is an old Hawaiian trail all along the coastline, lots of ancient settlements, generally get passing showers early in the morning, there are also goats and the deer have moved into many of the savannah type areas that dot that coastline

      21. OFF TOPIC BUT IMPORTANT:

Obama is returning to Washington from Martha’s Vineyard on Sunday night. He reportedly will meet with staff, and reportedly met with Biden before going up to Martha’s Vineyard. Supposedly he is NOT going to make any illegal alien invasion-related announcements. The reason for his return remains shrouded in mystery.

Hasn’t he recently closed on the purchase of a multi-million dollar mansion at Rancho Mirage, or is about to close?

Hasn’t he almost completely disconnected himself from the duties of his office?

Hasn’t he spent more and more time golfing and on vacations in recent months?

Isn’t his approval rating in the tank?

Here’s what may be brewing for the reason for his so-called mysterious return to Washington from vacation for just a few days before going back to Martha’s Vineyard:

OBAMA IS GOING TO ANNOUNCE HIS RESIGNATION AND THE HANDOVER OF THE PRESIDENCY TO BIDEN.

        Think about it….

He gets exactly what he wants — lifetime luxury and protection. Plenty of money. No responsibilities ever again. No pressure to accomplish anything ever again.
A mansion to enjoy in one of the most posh and exclusive areas of the country. Out of the limelight of constant criticism. Off the hook with other foreign heads of state who can’t stand him and he knows it. And the prime opportunity to step down “for the good of the nation” and look (sort of) statesmanlike.

        Think about it……..

        • @ anonymous ~ I hope you are right. But, I think Obama is way too much of an egotist to give up the reins to the throne.

          • @ anonymous ~ I hope you are right. But, I think Obama
is way too much of an egotist to give up the reins to the
            throne.

            • I wish you were right about Obama resigning but power and control is a very hard thing to stop once you have it, the power to kill, the power to insider trading under the table in offshore accounts etc. I don’t see it but it’s always a possibility and hope your right but don’t see it but hope it happens.

            • Upstate NY-

Perhaps there’s some truth in your logic…

…but I believe Moosechel would stomp a mud-hole in his ass, if he even contemplated curtailing her taxpayer funded “vacations”…by resigning!!!

I bet that bitch has a bigger dick than he has!

        • Wishful thinking. He is having the time of his life obeying his masters and destroying the country. He doesn’t do anything anyway but sign the documents. I always hear “he is so smart”. Bullshit he only received anything through affirmative action and deceit. Biden was only selected as VP because was the only one dumb enough to make Ocommie look intelligent. No Oshitbag is the last president.

        • We could not be that lucky, could we? Biden is just stupid, not evil I think, but would make another terrible President.

          • If Biden is sitting president, he is more likely to do well in the 2016 presidential election. Think about it. If folks really are dictating to our ‘elected’ leaders, this may be in the cards.

        • maybe he’ll skip the new house and go back to hell where he came from.

        • If we think Obama is bad, think about that clown Biden. He’s a trained seal.

          Lord have mercy upon us.

          • Zinda:

Ynet news dot com Biden in 2007 interview I am a Zionist

“I am a zionist, you don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist”.

            ____________________

No, you don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist, but you sure as hell have to support AIPAC to become VP of the US. Rumor is, if Bidens’ lips are moving, he is lying.

            • Heil granny!

              • Anonymous:

Your absurb meaningless slanders are losing their efficacy–

Anyone telling the truth about what ails America (and the world) are subject to being called “nazis”,
“bigots”, “racists”, and all other MEANINGLESS MARXIST BUZZWORDS. These words are leveled against ANYONE who opposes the destruction of America and western civilization.

It is clear that many patriotic Americans –millions in fact– are starting to wake up to the reality that the federal government is controlled by a HOSTILE ELITE.

What is going on in Missouri is not being led by Nazi’s, is it Anonymous? Tell us, Anonymous, that trash like Sharpton and J. Jackson are Nazi’s. They are “students” of Martin Luther King, the communist.

Because I pointed out that the people destroying America are not Nazi’s, but are KIN of the Bolshevik Jews who razed Russia and killed millions upon millions, that makes me a Nazi?

You are a shill for the people bent on destroying America and the world. Shameful…..

                • First granny I want to point out your claim to ” not respond to any more of my comments” lasted 1 whole day! Congratulations! You know, if you’re going to make claims like that you REALLY should keep them lest you lose ALL credibility. But that is not a problem in YOUR case due to the fact you NEVER had any credibility to lose, did you? Secondly, what makes you a Nazi is your love of hatred for all people who aren’t southurn baptis and the fact that you can NEVER quite bring yourself to condemn the Nazis, just a half assed defense for them. Again, Heil Hitler there granny!

                  • Anonymous:

You poke your “Heil Hitler” nonsense at me long enough, you will get a response. Read Gruesome Harvest, Anonymous.

I would hope that the posters on this blog see that you NEVER answer my questions.

So, once again, Anonymous, is it Nazis in DC calling for gun control? Is it Nazis in Missouri burning and looting? Is Jackson and Sharpton and their ilk Nazis, Anonymous? Are the people surrounding this piss poor president and his administration, Nazis?

I will continue to dog you, Anonymous until you can answer these questions. (Probably, from the looks of your posts, that will never happen, will it Anonymous?

                  • No granny, it’s more like the Nazi’s on THIS site like yourself and your soul mate them guys who spew hate towards everyone you don’t like. Here’s a list of the people you hate, Jews, Negroes, Catholics, and members of ANY religion you don’t agree with. What a stupid fucking comment you made that God doesn’t recognize other religions such as Buddhism or Hinduism or Taoism. How in the fuck would YOU know what He recognizes. How stupid do you take people for to believe that all other religions would not be allowed into heaven save the only one that YOU follow. You are a nutjob, PERIOD!

        • Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

        • Well if Biden ever assumes the position..

at least we’ll all get free shotguns..

          possee

        • It’s not like Biden would be an improvement. Sometimes I think he was chosen as VP for an insurance policy. “Kill me and you’ll get crazy Joe as president-and NOBODY wants THAT!”

If he’s going back to Washington for anything, it will be to destroy more of our liberties and the economy. Either that or to launch another war, probably with Russia. If that’s the case you’d better be ready to seek shelter underground.

Just remember the law of sevens: For every seven-fold increase in time (starting one hour after a nuclear weapons detonation), radiation decreases by 90%. So, after 7 hours, it is only 10% what it was at detonation. After 49 hours, it goes down another 90%, etc. all the way out to two weeks, after which most of the short-lived isotopes have decayed and you are just left with the longer-lived ones. I also suggest looking at some expedient fallout shelter designs now to see how you could minimize radiation exposure using little more than plastic tubs, boxes, books, trash bags, a table and water.

        • It’s not his decision…he does what he is told.

      22. After some research, I have learned that a person can derive 90 percent of all required nutrition eating quality eggs, raw/unfiltered organic honey, and pilot bread crackers (with pure potable water) if times really get bad. I’m sure some people survived on far less than that during the last depression.

A former business partner told me when he was a kid, his grandfather took him and his older brother to a country graveyard in Arkansas and showed them gravestones of people who starved to death during the great depression. A true story.

        • No doubt about it.

The numbers of infant deaths in the Depression-era graveyards is appalling. Get a little colicky in the winter, dead by spring at the latest.

        • I took a class in nutrition. We were told that an egg has all the basic required amino acids.

You would need about 20 eggs per day to get your full calorie requirements. That would also provide all the basic proteins and amino acids. It would include a lot of fat and cholesterol. It would also include many of the needed vitamins and minerals.

What would be missing would be Vitamins C, E, K, niacin and thiamine
It is also low in minerals like potassium, magnesium, manganese and calcium (eat the shell too, maybe)

Spinach and mustard greens are high in the missing nutrients (except for thiamine and niacin). For thiamine and niacin, you need sunflower seeds, navy beans, or acorn squash.

However, it appears that you could live on just eggs, spinach and sunflower seeds for years without developing any nutritional deficiencies. Maybe be extravagant and vary the diet with mustard greens and squash. I’ll bet there are other minimalist diets like these. This is just the info I remember from nutrition class.

      23. I have a question. When the ex husband and ex wife meet in Heaven, does all Hell break loose?

        • It says in the Bible that you won’t remember the past in Heaven; otherwise you would be sad about all the people who didn’t make it.

So the ex-couple may not even recognize each other.

          • I guess I just answered a rhetorical question.

            • In my understandings…..

I believe we do recognize people in Heaven and remember the good things about them.

When the Word speaks of “all the elements” burning with fervent heat; it is referring to the “rudiments” or “negative things” of this world.

God is a consuming fire and everything that offends is “consumed away” so that there will be nothing to offend or bring one down. No tears in Heaven, and that is exactly why there is no “remembrance” of those that didn’t make it. They aren’t burning in a place called hell and being prodded and poked around by a mean looking dude with horns in red flannel underwear.

They, their body and soul, and any remembrance of them has been consumed by the Lake Of Fire and forever gone…blotted out! The End.

My ex-wife spreading her legs for her many boss men and her attorney, and ….on and on…whore! will be remembered no more and that visual in my head, will be forever gone. Thank God!

If she repented, and made it into Heaven, then i will only see her in the way i did while we had many good times together and the splendor of youth we spent together with love and compassion. Those were the days.

          • If you don’t remember your life, are you you ‘you’? No you’re not.

            • The more people I meet, the more I appreciate my dog….

          • Arch. LMFAO!! That religion book of explanation is a joke. SO if you went to heaven and can’t remember the past, how the f*ck did the person who claims he can’t see the past somehow tell the writer to say you won’t remember anything? You have to be some gullible dolts ti believe any if this Bible Babble BS. If God is so mighty and powerful then why does he always need Money??. Lots of Money. LoL…..Connect the dots folks, you are all being duped.

            • Actually he only asks for 10% to show your obedience to Him.

He also says to put that 10% into “fertile ground”, which means into the ministries that “teach truth”. Otherwise it just lays dormant and will never grow into anything but more stuff for the fake preachers.

              What good is that?

              • I guess if God can find enough gullible dumb schmucks to donate 10%.. then God makes quite a living eh?

The list goes on and on….however, then there is Pat Robertson….”Pat Robertson is unique among the CROOKS mentioned in this article, some of whom could – charitably – be considered “vastly deluded individuals”. Unfortunately Pat Robertsons reprehensible conduct has too many facets to be listed here.” (Go to website to continue reading about this fraud).

My post does not cover all the frauds and their ill gotten gains…..go to the website to see if your favorite is “living high on the hog” while you scrape by and send your donations. THIS SURELY IS NOT THE CHRISTIANITY AND CHARITY JESUS CHRIST TALKS ABOUT IN THE BIBLE.

POG, are you and the Christians you follow sinless? If not, what are you doing pointing out the sins of others? To quote what you yourself just said, “THIS SURELY IS NOT THE CHRISTIANITY AND CHARITY JESUS CHRIST TALKS ABOUT IN THE BIBLE.”

My advice to you is to take your eyes off man and put them on Jesus.

      26. I had a really strange dream the other night. My husband had doubled the size of the chicken coop, but taken the roof off of it. The back yard had no grass, and hubby had run barbed wire around the outside of the chicken Yard to try to keep pests out. And I was ecstatic because he surprised me with 3 baby goats. I was happy that I could have milk again. Very weird, and I pray it’s NOT a premonition of what’s to come.

        • Last night I had a dream that I was hanging out with Toby Keith! Premonition of what’s to come?lol

          • I woke up and my family isn’t here again. Job at least had a wife that stuck by him. Sigh.

            • @Iowa
Yes, they are gone, but not forever. The One who loves you more than you’ll ever know is there looking out for you. Your Father.

He has gotten you through sooo very much before. He protected you in the past and forgave all of your mistakes then, and He will continue to….TRUST IN HIS UNFAILING LOVE FOR YOU, because He does love all who call upon His name.

God Bless, A Sinner (Just like you)

            • Job’s wife finally got tired of all his bellyaching though.

She told him, (basically); if you are that damn miserable, why don’t you just go off and die.

God told him to pick himself up and act like a man and a child of His.

Sooner or later the continual, “bellyaching” will run off anyone close to a person, even an obedient and committed wife/partner.

“Misery loves company, but soon they become tiresome of each other.”
              pwtw.. original quote

      27. I am a nobody as far as the government is concerned and like it that way. I use my head and my wits to stay inconspicuous. I do whatever I want whenever I want, just smart about it. But though avoiding drawing attention to myself, it does not mean I don’t see what is happening. If fact, it is the opposite; those who are prudent enough to see what is happening are going to protect themselves and generally not mention it or show it.
Prepping for example; they hate preppers. The government wants masses of successfully propagandized, docile and unthinking individuals who believe and trust them; easily led and dependent sheep.
Those poor souls who are the most believing, and those who depend on government (tens of millions) will be the worst affected. Should the economy dive and become unraveled in quick order things will be bad even for the prepper, and hellish for the non-prepper.
Preppers will have to join together in sufficient numbers for safety, there will be vicious and unrelenting attacks on many of them, mostly by neighbors.
It is true the present system of maintaining social order through government programs are simply unsustainable, the well is dry. Taxes will increase, rationing will begin, social order will suffer, and those that have will be labeled hoarders or greedy even though they worked for what they have. Millions upon millions of desperate people will simply try to take from others what they need or want.
Hard times – they are a comin’ to a town near you.

      32. Mac,

A little off topic but your site has a strong following down in Australia (at least from me, anyway !!)

I’ve been prepping for many years, long before the term became fashionable, and I feel the crunch is coming very soon. Don’t know why, I just feel it.

I was fortunate enough to be able to move interstate some years ago to a rural area where I cannot see my neighbours. It’s a good feeling knowing you’re miles from anywhere, surrounded by thick bush and your closest neighbour is a keen hunter, firearms collector and not afraid to tell me of his distrust of the government.
I’ve been teaching my 3 young girls everything that the modern education system doesn’t. Things like simple living skills including growing your own food, preserving, livestock raising, tracking, first aid, simple vehicle maintenance, fire starting and hunting just to name a few. They love it thank god, and look forward to weekends when we can go out and practice a few things.
The drought is really taking it’s toll here. Cattle prices are down to buggery, feed is way up almost out of reach and this is showing by a high increase in prices at the supermarket checkout. Rural suicides are increasing dramatically. Yet, the average person doesn’t care, as long as the footy is on tv and the game console works.

Keep up the great work Mac.

May you all ride high in the saddle and never let the bastards get you down……….

        • How can you hunt when all guns are banned in Australia?

          • Not all guns are banned in Australia. Most semi-autos, I believe, but lots of bolt-action rifles.

I hear that’s where most of the Ruger No. 1 rifles in .303 British went to, it’s pretty rare here.

          • They’re not all banned. You just have to apply for a licence. The MSM has led others to believe that we are a “gun free” nation.

      33. Why The Fed Can’t, And Won’t, Let The Stock Market Crash

        http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-08-16/why-fed-cant-and-wont-let-stock-market-crash

        makes an interesting point
        the stock market goes
        the pension plans fail
middle class retirement dreams crash and burn

but maybe just trying to sucker people into the market
        while it is on top
just before the big fail ???

the gov has done a fairly good job of keeping things together
it all should have come apart in 2008
        how long can they
or will they keep it going ?

      34. People are starting to get it. They are beginning to prep, they are seeing the corruption , they are starting to see the globalists behind it and are identifying them.
Something tells me if they collapse this economy, their lives will not be worth much.

      35. A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero

      38. If you’ve prepped then prep some more! If you haven’t prepped then prepare to die. Once the economy collapses the industry collapses soon after. No fuel deliveries, no fuel for vehicles no food production no food deliveries. How long can the average person survive without food? About 14 days and that is if they are just laying around watching t.v. not burning calories. How long can the average person survive without water? 72 hours. Get your preps in gear and spend all your fiat money you can on food items, water, medicine, toiletries, etc….you guys know what to do.

      40. Been out of the markets since 2008 and into tangibles. Just picked up a tarnished 2 piece sterling baby set at an antique today for $10. The silver value is more than that it made by an obscure silversmith and is valued at 150-200. Much better than a piece of stock that you really dont even own unless you are the owner on record via having the actual stock certificate.

        • My hesitation is that I don’t think it would be as useful for trade in long term SHTF as commodities. Plus it’s better to buy preps than metal.

I tried to sell the wedding rings back and got an insultingly low offer. Like $35 each for these 10k yellow gold rings. The PM companies buy back the coins and bullion at scrap prices. Its a racket I think.

        • Take your profit in that silver set and put it into something useful. Silver coins are ‘liquid’, silverplate antiques are not.

      41. Off topic:

This planting season I planted potatoes in a barrel, actually 4 barrels. I started the barrels about a quarter full of soil and as the plants grew I added more soil to it, until the barrels were full. As the potato plants started to die I planted some green beans in the barrel. The beans have done great, some of the best ones in my garden. I just finished harvesting all the beans from one of the barrels and it was time to see how the potatoes did. There were about 30 or 40 yukon gold potatoes of various sizes in this first barrel. I am pleased.

I added some more compost to the barrel, topped it off and thoroughly mixed it up. I’m now going to plant some carrots in the barrel. Three crops out of the one barrel :-). I don’t know yet what I’ll plant in the other three barrels.

Some other things I tried for a first time this year was planting carrots in bucket and the three sisters in raised beds. I built a green house this year and in it I have green onions in trays, lettuce in trays, tomatoes in pots and in the ground, green peppers, cyan peppers. basil and fennel.

The three sisters didn’t work out too well for me. In the main garden I planted everything in raised beds. The squash have taken over the three sister bed and have pulled the corn down. I have corn in another box that’s doing well. The squash I planted was acorn and cooking pumpkin.

        • Give us more tips on barrel gardening it sounds like something one could do in the city.

          • Me too. What size barrel? I planted tomatos in a large small tree planter. About 2 ft across and 2 ft high. I put in some sandy soil and some various other soils. Also, some fertilizer at about 8 inches down and mixed in some more. Now that plant is over 8 ft high and bore a few tomatoes now but has another dozen ripening. beefsteak. But, I’ve used smaller planters – typical large plant ones – and they are OK but not as productive. Good for cherry tomatoes and great for long peppers. I think one secret of the tomatos is the location as above ground black planters get hot and that heat can kill the roots I think.

            More on topic,
            1. disenfranchised folks will riot. Most will say they riot as they are some race; but, the real reason is lack of economic opportunity.
            — I agree with another poster that stock market does not represent the real economy. Unless you are rich enough to play, its simply a rich-mans game you hear about on TV.
            2. There is no reason the United States of America would be thought to last forever. Nor your county government. How they end, I don’t know. But, since they no longer represent the working people, then the working people may find something else.

            • Goad-

Try painting the old/used tires with cheap outdoor “white latex-based paint”, stack ’em 2-3 high & fill w/ soil.
The white exterior will keep the roots cool…

Have had excellent success w/ squash, zucchini, ‘taters & spinach .

Ditto, haunt car/truck washes @ truck stops & ask to buy their old empty PLASTIC barrels(55gal) that contained soap (usually $3-5 apiece)…

Cut/bisect barrels lengthwise & drill 6-8 3/8ths diameter holes @ the bottom of the trough (clean well) then line bottom w/ a strip of “weed-stop fabric”…

I fabricated “X” brace supports (used the 2x4s & 4x4s only) for the barrel halves, out of salvaged pallets from big box stores.

Secure barrel half to X-brace via a few small wood screws & fill w/ soil. I have 8 such barrel units & they’ve been very productive for the last 4 years.

NOTE:…the X-bracing/rest is only good for about 3 years, after that, you’ll have to fabricate replacements.

          • I used food grade barrels, 40 gallon size. Drilled in drainage holes on the bottom and sides and set them up on pallets. The soil I used was from a compost pile I have here at home and some of the dirt that’s under the compost pile. Potatoes like a little acidic soil, every time I added another layer of soil I would top it with a couple of handfuls of pine needles. Pine needles are acidic and as they break down they keep the soil sweet.

I planted the green beans on top because the roots introduce nitrogen to the soil and it’s a benefit. I’ll see how the carrots grow to know just how much of a benefit the green beans were.

I will not reuse the soil for next years potatoes, the current soil will go into the raised beds and the barrels will be cleaned and sanitized before next years plantings.

It doesn’t take up much space and it produces a decent amount of food. I canned up a couple of cases of pint size jars of green beans and a case of pickled green beans. We’ve been eating fresh green beans and have blanched and froze some. Three of the barrels are still producing green beans. I’m letting one barrel go to seed for next years planting.

The other barrels each have a different potato type. I’ll see which ones do the best. They are a russet, red and a purple potato.

But in today’s electronic society, it is through banking, the stock exchange, the bond exchange and the derivatives market. Today, it is debt.” Early this year Michael Hudson said: “The U.S. economy has reached its debt limit and is entering its insolvency phase. We are not in a cycle but at the end of an era. i.e. a terrorist attack would be great come together for all moment just in time for a collapse.

The German media, including Die Welt, blared the story throughout Germany without concern at the absence of any evidence. Reuters news agency, also with no investigation, spread the story. Readers tell me that CNN has been broadcasting the fake story 24/7. Although I cannot stand to watch it, I suspect Fox “news” has also been riding this lame horse hard. Readers tell me that my former newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, which has fallen so low as to be unreadable, also spread the false story. I hope they are wrong. One hates to see the complete despoliation of one’s former habitat.”

have I mentioned that governments LIE ???

      52. After reading all these comments, some good, some really bad. I wonder, who is the boss of you?

And, for those of you have an answer other than, your own Self, I wonder,… why is that? …How is that?

I really don’t understand how people can give themselves over to other people? Their lives, their families, everything? I Just don’t get that.

          Maslow’s “hierarchy of needs”

human beings need socialization with others fulfilled, to thrive and survive, and therein is the mental hitch/ lash of control people have over others.

          it’s very intuitive.

no one person is an island.

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a theory in psychology proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper “A Theory of Human Motivation” in Psychological Review. Maslow subsequently extended the idea to include his observations of humans’ innate curiosity.

The most fundamental and basic four layers of the pyramid contain what Maslow called “deficiency needs” or “d-needs”: esteem, friendship and love, security, and physical needs. If these “deficiency needs” are not met – with the exception of the most fundamental (physiological) need – there may not be a physical indication, but the individual will feel anxious and tense.

Maslow’s theory suggests that the most basic level of needs must be met before the individual will strongly desire (or focus motivation upon) the secondary or higher level needs. Maslow also coined the term Metamotivation to describe the motivation of people who go beyond the scope of the basic needs and strive for constant betterment.[10]

The human mind and brain are complex and have parallel processes running at the same time, thus many different motivations from various levels of Maslow’s hierarchy can occur at the same time. Maslow spoke clearly about these levels and their satisfaction in terms such as “relative,” “general,” and “primarily.”

Instead of stating that the individual focuses on a certain need at any given time, Maslow stated that a certain need “dominates” the human organism.[11] Thus Maslow acknowledged the likelihood that the different levels of motivation could occur at any time in the human mind, but he focused on identifying the basic types of motivation and the order in which they should be met.

        • You are correct, sir.

This site contains a plethora of comments by the same posters and they all march in lock-step, feeding on each other’s emotions, demogoguery, ignorance, and ax-grinding. Everything is here: anti-corporatism, anti-Semitism, anti-American, anti-common sense, anti-education, anti-younameit.

Dissenters are typically down-voted until their comments disappear from the column.

As well, quite a few pro-Putin, pro-anarchy, pro-leftist, pro-profanity, pro-pornographic have come onto the site with everything from diatribes to tomes.

You dare not criticize the authors of the various articles, regardless of how ridiculously biased and nonfactual their writing is. Sometimes events that happened months or even years ago are the basis of articles that read as if the event just occurred.

Read here at your own risk and with a large grain of salt.

There are nuggets of value within the manure, certainly, but most of it is worthy of a fast scrolling function on past.

          • Anon.

            Why worry about it.

All that counts is what you are going to do when the Swat Team is at your door. A few people bleeding from Ebola or some other germ tries to make contact with you. Even if the whole financial house of cards comes down.
All the rest is Bullshit or who has the better Bullshit. What happens to me is between me and God. At this point I do not care if it is the Jews or the Muslims. Black, White Tan or Orange I don’t care what you believe in but just leave me alone.
A future encounter with me is where any Bullshit might get you injured. I have had enough of it.

            So what do you say?

            Are you having fun, yet?

          • +1 for criticism. And “helot”, yes we do get the irony of your name versus your argument. Subtle but very deft. “The helots were a subjugated population group …” (So much for the movie “The 300” – talk about Americans who have no clue!)

      53. Missouri Governor calls in troops

Missouri National Guard headed to Ferguson

“Things in Ferguson have gotten so unruly that Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has called National Guard troops to the St. Louis suburb.

Given these deliberate, coordinated and intensifying violent attacks on lives and property in Ferguson, I am directing the highly capable men and women of the Missouri National Guard … in restoring peace and order to this community,” he said in a statement.

Gunfire, tear gas and Molotov cocktails Sunday night marked some of the fiercest clashes yet between police and protesters furious about the death of an unarmed teenager.

And the tensions continued escalating after autopsy results revealed that 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot six times.”

“You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”
            –Rahm Emanuel

I had saved these links. Reading them now makes me wonder, was this Soros personal prediction or was this some kind of ‘cue’ to stir up every/any situation to make this happen. We know Eric Holder sent in buses of people to stir up riots in Florida after Trayvon Martin was killed.

            Remember this…

January 2012 – George Soros on the Coming U.S. Class War
“in America he predicts riots on the streets that will lead to a brutal clampdown that will dramatically curtail civil liberties. The global economic system could even collapse altogether.”

DHS Whistleblower: Obama to Commit ‘Reichstag’ Event to Enact Martial Law

“As early as August 2011, WHI also predicted race riots coming in the summer of 2012. The use of the Trayvon Martin death and the subsequent incitements to violence by the media, Obama operatives, and useful idiots, followed by the subsequent threats by the NBPP of a coming “race war” appear to have been merely a sign of what’s to come.”

          • Why Were The Police In Ferguson Told Not To Stop The Rampant Looting On Friday Night?

“During the night, buildings burned, windows shattered, and chaos ensued as protesters stood in the street criticizing police. Officers threatened to arrest protesters who came near their trucks. Yet authorities did not attempt to stop any looting as citizens moved to protect local businesses from sporadic thefts.”

“Police presence is in question after St. Louis County and Missouri State Highway Patrol officers left the scene in Ferguson once looters began attacking businesses overnight.”

“A reporter from the station tweeted that police cars were seen driving past some of the stores being looted and did not respond.”

      54. HAVE WE BECOME A COMMUNIST NATION?

        By Derry Brownfield

“These men are NOT incompetent or stupid. If they were merely stupid, they would occasionally make a mistake in our favor.” That comment was made by James Forrestal concerning International Communism being promoted by our politicians in the early 1950’s. It isn’t being politically correct to refer to SOCIALISM as COMMUNISM, however, according to the Communist Manifesto the United States has already become a communist nation. If you have your little pocket size “CITIZENS RULE BOOK,” look on page 8, at the SUMMARY OF THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO, which states “The Communist Manifesto represents a misguided philosophy, which teaches the citizens to give up their rights for the sake of the common good, but it always ends in a police state. This is called preventive justice. Control is the key concept.” In the September issue of NEWSWATCH Magazine titled “The Ten Planks That Are Destroying Our Country – COMMUNIST MANIFESTO.” The article warns us that Americans believe that Communism is dead, but Communism has just become more politically correct.
        1. Abolition of private property: The foundation of this nation was ownership of property. The settlers came here to insure private ownership of land and our Founding Fathers made it unlawful for government to own land except for the ten square miles of Washington D.C. and such as may be needed for erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, Dockyards and other needful buildings. Today you don’t OWN your home, car, farm or most property. You are just allowed to use it as long as you pay your property taxes, buy a car license, pay for building permits and get permission from the zoning commission. Individual OWNERSHIP is only by virtue of government. To USE property we must be in accordance with law and subordinate to the powers of government.
        2. Heavy Progressive Income Tax: I believe all Americans understand the IRS. What most of them don’t realize is that we didn’t have an Income Tax until 1913. Before that year Income Taxes were considered unconstitutional.

        3. Abolition of all rights of Inheritance: We now have Estate Taxes, Inheritance Taxes, also called the Death Tax. Many a farm and small business could not be passed on to the next generation, but had to be sold in order to pay the estate taxes. Many times the IRS forces the sale, as it did in the case of the Roy Rogers Museum sale.
        4. Confiscation of property of all emigrants and rebels: Government seizures, tax liens, private land under Eminent Domain, the IRS taking property without due process and even taking “suspected” drug money from anyone carrying large amounts of cash is nothing but government confiscation of private property
        5. Central Bank: The Constitution called for Congress to “coin Money and regulate the Value thereof,” but since 1913 the Federal Reserve Bank has taken over that duty. The Federal Reserve is a “private” bank that sets interest rates and creates money out of thin air.
        6. Government control of Communications & Transportation: Today we have the Federal Communications Commission, Department of Transportation, Interstate Commerce Commission and the Federal Aviation Administration. You are not allowed to drive your car without a license.
        7. Government control of factories and agriculture: Our government has gained control of the banking industry, finance, automobile production, energy and health care. Department of Commerce, Department of Interior and the Bureau of Land Management, Department of Agriculture; all of which control land use.
        8. Government control of Labor: The Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the minimum wage law control all aspects of American businesses.

        9. Corporate Farms, Regional Planning: Corporate Agriculture now controls markets and prices of farm production. We now have Planning and Reorganization and zoning all across the nation.
        10. Government control of Education: State and Federal Departments of Education, National Education Association, Outcome Based Education, No Child Left Behind; all paid for with tax dollars. Karl Marx stated that these ten planks in the Communist Manifesto would be the test whether a country had become communist or not. Is America a Communist nation? Study the manifesto and the laws that have been passed by our Republican and Democrat politicians, and “you determine” if we are or if we are not a Communist Country.

        • River Rat:

Great post. Just breaking news: Head of United Nations weighing in on the riots. Get ready, UN forces will be invited in to quell the violence.

Odd that the curfew has been lifted for tonight. Is it to show that the troops/officers who are there are not able to contain the violence and we need UN troops to help? Time will tell.

          • That’s a load of paranoid crap. Just another of your many delusions that you want sane people to buy into. Not happening nut case.

      55. Like I have said before; From Shooter “It’s not Democrats vs. Republicans, it’s all about the HAVE’S and the HAVE NOTS!! My gut tells me that the slow easing into collapse is over, when it happens it will be over night, most will go to bed with have and awaken with have not. Rice, beans and bullets, but just remember you have to have water above all else.

      56. Cannot happen soon enough! Maybe today, hopefully very soon!

      57. The autopsy report bears out the officers story. the dead guy was shot from the front. and the head wounds indicate he was squatted down like a linebacker charging. bullet wounds in the front of the arms indicate he wasn’t standing holding up his arms. The last two shots one went into the top of his head and the other went in his eye and exited his jaw. when its declared a clean kill the jungle bunnys wont accept the facts. There is also a audio tape of a witness who was recounting the event. that witness states brown was charging the police.

        • There you go Coach, the ballistics and crime scene forensics will exonerate the cop so Holder will have to do so too.

That’s when the real action starts. 🙁

A previously unnoticed detail in a background conversion of a video taken minutes after the Ferguson shooting could change the course of the investigation into Mike Brown’s death.

The original video poster appears sympathetic to the narrative that Mike Brown was shot unarmed with his hands in the air. But he unknowingly picks up conversation between a man who saw the altercation and another neighbor.

An approximate transcription of the background conversation, as related by the “Conservative Treehouse” blog, who originally discovered the conversation:

        @6:28/6:29 of video

#1 How’d he get from there to there?

#2 Because he ran, the police was still in the truck – cause he was like over the truck

        {crosstalk}

#2 But him and the police was both in the truck, then he ran – the police got out and ran after him

        {crosstalk}

#2 Then the next thing I know he doubled back toward him cus – the police had his gun drawn already on him –

[there is dispute here whether he says “doubled back” or “coming back.”]

#1. Oh, the police got his gun

#2 The police kept dumpin on him, and I’m thinking the police kept missing – he like – be like – but he kept coming toward him

        {crosstalk}

#2 Police fired shots – the next thing I know – the police was missing

        #1 The Police?

        #2 The Police shot him

        #1 Police?

#2 The next thing I know … I’m thinking … the dude started running … (garbled something about “he took it from him”)
