All Over America, Government Officials Are Cracking Down On Preppers

Do you LOVE America?

The following article has been generously contributed by Michael Snyder, founder of The Economic Collapse Blog and author of The Beginning of the End.

America-PreppersWhy would the government want to punish people that are just trying to work hard, become more self-sufficient and take care of their families?  There are approximately 3 million preppers in the United States today, and often they appear to be singled out for punishment by bureaucratic control freaks that are horrified at the thought that there are families out there that actually want to try to become less dependent on the system.  So if you use alternative methods to heat your home, or if you are not connected to the utility grid, or if you collect rainwater on your property, or if you believe that parents should have the ultimate say when it comes to health decisions for their children, you could become a target for overzealous government enforcers.  Once upon a time, America was the land of the free and the home of the brave, but now we are being transformed into a socialist police state where control freak bureaucrats use millions of laws, rules and regulations to crack down on anyone that dares to think for themselves.

For example, people have been burning wood to heat their homes since this country began.  And this is still very common in rural areas.  But the Obama administration does not like this at all.  The Obama bureaucrats at the EPA fear that our little wood stoves may be contributing to “global warming”, so they have outlawed the production and sale of 80 percent of the wood stoves that are currently in use.  The following comes from a recent Forbes article

It seems that even wood isn’t green or renewable enough anymore. The EPA has recently banned the production and sale of 80 percent of America’s current wood-burning stoves, the oldest heating method known to mankind and mainstay of rural homes and many of our nation’s poorest residents. The agency’s stringent one-size-fits-all rules apply equally to heavily air-polluted cities and far cleaner plus typically colder off-grid wilderness areas such as large regions of Alaska and the American West.

While EPA’s most recent regulations aren’t altogether new, their impacts will nonetheless be severe. Whereas restrictions had previously banned wood-burning stoves that didn’t limit fine airborne particulate emissions to 15 micrograms per cubic meter of air, the change will impose a maximum 12 microgram limit. To put this amount in context, EPA estimates that secondhand tobacco smoke in a closed car can expose a person to 3,000-4,000 micrograms of particulates per cubic meter.

Most wood stoves that warm cabin and home residents from coast-to-coast can’t meet that standard. Older stoves that don’t cannot be traded in for updated types, but instead must be rendered inoperable, destroyed, or recycled as scrap metal.

    Does that make you angry?

    It should.

There are other preppers that try to use very “clean” methods to power their homes, but that is still not good enough for some government control freaks.

For example, one prepper down in south Florida that had gone “off the grid” was recently ordered by a court to connect back to the grid or face eviction from his home.  The following is an excerpt from a recent article by Guiles Hendrik

Think you are still free to make choices in your life? Do you think the government will allow you to live independent of their utility monopolies? If you think so, try opting for renewable non-grid tied power and utilize environmentally friendly composting toilets and your own self-sufficient water supply. Today, those life choices could land you in jail if you live in South Florida. Take the case of Robin Speronis.

Robin Speronis has lived off the grid, independent of the city’s water and electric system. A Florida court ruled this off-the-grid living illegal last week and has given Robin until March to connect her home to a municipal water line or face possible eviction. Further, officials in the city of Cape Coral have justified this by deeming Robin’s home “unsanitary,” citing the International Property Maintenance Code. First of all, since when did we begin to locally recognize “international codes?” Where in the US Constitution does it provide for international jurisdiction over local codes? Ironically, this “international” code mandates that homes be connected to an electricity grid and a running water source, even though most of the world lives without reliable electricity and municipal water and sewer. Further, the code is outdated and obsolete because it was written without consideration to both old and new technologies that relegate the need for grid tied power and municipal water as unnecessary and expensive; especially, in locations where it simply isn’t feasible to have grid tied utilities. Nonetheless, Speronis’ home does in fact have power and water through far cheaper and more environmentally friendly means — solar panels and rainwater, but that reality is ignored by the local government.

Incredibly, most Americans still seem to believe that we live in a “free country”.  But we don’t.  Our lives are very tightly constrained by literally millions of laws, rules and regulations, and more are being added every single day.

Even some of our most basic fundamental rights have been seriously eroded.  One of these is the right to make basic health decisions for our own children.  In New York state, children that have not received all of the designated vaccines can now be banned from attending public school, and this requirement was recently upheld by a federal appeals court

New York state’s requirement that children be vaccinated before attending public school does not violate their constitutional rights, a federal appeals court in Manhattan said on Wednesday.

In affirming the requirement’s constitutionality, a three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals also upheld a previous ruling by a federal judge that students exempted from the requirement for religious reasons can be barred from school when another child has a disease preventable by a vaccine.

The decision was the latest to go against three parents from New York City who say their religious rights were violated when their children were kept out of school as a result of the immunization policies. The parents’ lawyer, Patricia Finn, said her clients planned to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

So what are we free to do without government interference these days?

    Not much.

In fact, in some states we can’t even sit on our own land and collect the rain as it falls from the sky for our own personal use.

If you do this in the state of Oregon, for example, you could go to prison

Gary Harrington, the Oregon man convicted of collecting rainwater and snow runoff on his rural property surrendered Wednesday morning to begin serving his 30-day, jail sentence in Medford, Ore.

“I’m sacrificing my liberty so we can stand up as a country and stand for our liberty,” Harrington told a small crowd of people gathered outside of the Jackson County (Ore.) Jail.

Several people held signs that showed support for Harrington as he was taken inside the jail.

And of course these are just a few examples.  Almost every single day there are more stories in the news about government bureaucrats cracking down on preppers.  They almost seem to relish the opportunity to go after the “non-conformists”.

But the good news is that the number of Americans that are seeking to become less dependent on the system just continues to grow.

    So what about you?

    Are you a prepper?

My friend Daisy Luther recently wrote a piece entitled “45 MORE Signs That You Might Be One of Those Crazy Preppers“.  The following are some of the most interesting “signs” from her list…

*You spend your days off digging an underground bunker in your backyard.

*Your family doesn’t dare take something from the food stockpile without marking it off the list.

*Your kids know how to don a gas mask in 30 seconds.

*Everyone in your survival group carries the same firearm so that ammo is standardized.

*Your family is no longer surprised when you announce, “Hey, we’re going to learn how to make (insert anything here)!”

*You have long since accepted the idea that if you’re not on someone’s list, you’re probably not doing it right.

*You don’t just rotate food, you rotate ammo.

*Moving to a new house is no longer “moving”, but “strategic relocation”.

*Your kids think it’s a fun game to see who can find the most potential weapons in a room.

*Your EDC includes a knife, firearm w/extra mag, flashlight, mylar blanket, Chapstick, and an ounce of silver — and that’s just for when you’re walking the dog.

*One criterion for your new winter coat is that it fits over your body armor.

      1. Keep prepping anyway… the feds already consider all of us criminals or terrorists anyway… there’s a saying I’ve recently heard… “If you’re not on a government watch list by now, you should be ashamed of yourself”.

        • M. Snyder: “America was built by people that loved their families, worked hard and were self-sufficient.

Now our government is specifically targeting those kinds of people.

What in the world is happening to us?”

What’s happening is that the godless Libs are coming after godly preppers.

          • FreeSlave, you mean ‘commies’, don’t you? Those commies are vulnerable to ‘accidents’.

          • I’m so far down on my wife’s shit list,
I cumulatively won’t be getting any till
            October 2019 now.

            • Really??? I haven’t been having any trouble. 😉

              • You gotta big mouth, Basstard

            • Dominate that bitch. It’s a shit test. These sluts all want to be ravished secretly. Bitches.

              • Acid, how would you know? No woman in her right mind would give you the time of day, let alone anything else.

                • I think acid is more than likely one of those homosexual people.

                  • FP, he has admitted to that in the past.

                  • He’s a hobo sexual a fuc@#ing bum

              • You see people, this is the result of rampant pornography, It destroys the morals and makes useless dweebs like this believe that is what women want.
how do you spell dick?-ACID ETCH

              • Acid; Do you ever stick to the subject? Quit wasting everyone’s time with your rants!

            • “So you’re saying there’s a chance”?

            • OUTWEST, Right there with ya 365 24/7 on the shit list.
My wife knew i was a stubborn ass 20yrs ago .
Like most , she thought she could “fix” me .
              Didnt happen.
Sooooo , i remain on the shit list. LOL

            • Get another wife.

              • Sodbuster:Maybe she needs a new book of matches…I like my wife and it’s a constant effort to keep her happy. Our solution- after 37 years,we still date each other as if we just met.

                • My wife and I pray together……it is a miraculous thing.

                • Exactly! It is a two way street and if your woman is feeling appreciated, you will have an active sex life- even at 60 yrs old! There is a reason a turkey spends time strutting before he gets the female.

          • FreeSlave says:

“What’s happening is that the godless Libs are coming after godly preppers.”

Pull your head out of your ass FS!

            The problem is bipartisan!!

It would appear Boobus still falls for the false left/right paradigm!!!

            BTW: Do you vote FS?

          • They better have a search warrant to get my Baker’s Choice woodstove. It heats our entire home. No judge in our county would sign such a thing.

On another note, I was able to obtain two old wood burning cookstoves complete with all the parts, that were removed from a couple of old cabins. I figure they will be worth their weight in silver when the grid goes down or propane runs out. Great barter items.

            • Am I the only one thinking of a bunch of jack-leg stoves since commercial, high-quality ones will be outlawed?

          • Power Corrupts and Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely!….The End

        • Jerry, I’m on every list. The local & County police database listed me as a known gang member w/guns, a Veteran that has a CCL from the sheriff. Amazingly, a detective removed the gangster shit from the database. Way past time to revolt!

          • Iowa, the relationship analysis stuff took off a decade ago. Either you know a gangster, or you post on the internet and got labeled a gangster by a computer program written by a weenie who probably has never walked down a public street for more than a mile in his life.

        • Exactly! Where preppers have crossed the Rubicon can best be demonstrated by the willful open disobedience to the recent draconian firearm laws passed in states like Connecticut, New York and recently Washington State. The government excels at singling out an individual and destroying their livelihood or their life just to make a point. Liberals love to hate, and they love to kill. The only thing they like better than both of those is to completely ruin and dominate someones life.

Willful disobedience in a grand scale is the only answer to these acts of tyranny. Just as the Muslims have cowed the liberal and socialist governments to the point they will not be fucked with, conservatives, and all freedom loving people will have to do the same.

Saw a hat the other day, it said something like, Fight Tyranny, Shoot back.

        • Again the Author has the facts wrong. The Prepper lady in Florida who was told to connect to water was because she was flushing her toilet waste into the City of Cape Coral Sewer System and failed to pay for that service. Both the water and sewer are tied to the same bill. She is being charged for failure to pay. If you are going to write a story get the facts strait. Otherwise it is fiction propaganda for sensationalism to dumb down and inflame the readers. Try fact check in reporting, basics 101 in Journalism. 2 Articles in a row now- BS. . WWTI.

          • Call it BullSHTFPlan different day.

            • yea ,bullshit is right ,waent anything to do with non payment ,i live 30 mi from the cape ,the whole problem began when the local news did an exposay on her ,and they came in and put a condemnation tag on her door with out ever going in her house to see how she was living ,the fact is they were pissed because some one was living in there paradice and not playing by there rules ,just to give you an idea what a shit hole this place is ,if you own a pickup truck it has to be kept in a garage at all times, and if you drive a company van forget it it aint being parked in your driveway (and BTW they forced the res. to bring in the water and sewer at a cost of 16k per res.)they begged them not to do it that they couldnt afford it ,and you know what there answer was ,you guessed it “why should we give a fuck”so yea ,Snyder had it right there some of the worst cock sucker out there ,watch the story of her some time ,she not some scum bag ,shes an educated widow that wanted to live a simpler healtheier life ,i have a friend that lives in the cape hurracane wilma blew a tree on his roof and crushed part of it , less then 2 weeks passed and they were threatning to fine him $250 a day till he got that tree cleaned up ,now here he is a week with no power and and a fucked up roof and there stepping on his balls

          • Who wuda thunk is correct the woman was still using the city sewer system.

          • WWTI we may not agree on much, but I sure do like it when you expose the truth. Many articles leave out the facts just as you say, for sensationalism and to inflame the readers. It’s articles like these that often makes a person doubt some stories that are true. Trekker Out.

        • Jerry C, spot on advice. I’m on I don’t know how many lists so I know I’m doing something right. I will damned sure keep prepping.

        • When tyranny comes to the door, I’m going to bury their bodies deep.

        • Anyone and everyone posting on this and similar websites are already on a DHS watch list.

          • Nobama, I’ll wear the label with pride. I know I’m doing something right.

        • I do not have anything anyway.
I just put on a pair of good cloths with some extra
          Toilet items.
          Back pack
          Good bolt rifle
          Good shotgun
          Good pistol
          Good bow
          Good knife
          Good fishing rod
          Other odds and ends

          Wise person need very little

        • Talk about a snow job. I was just reading an article in the magazine that my power company puts out about electric meters, and their evolution. And they told all about how the old meters work and then to quote “So where will meters go from here? It seems the next step in meter evolution will depend largely upon how far the smart home develops. As ever more appliances, devices and even light bulbs become accessible via the internet, members may drive the development of a new generation of meters that can also communicate with their smart phone, tablet or PC”. Never was there a mention of Smart Meters as we have so often been warned of. What the heck is a Smart Home anyway? I guess it’s all in the wording. Trekker Out. Beware!

        • I see a developing market in water heater tanks converted to stoves. Anyone with a stick welder and angle grinder will tell the EPA to pound salt. The EPA will find a way to ‘measure’ chimney output from afar. SWAT raids to eliminate ‘dangerous’ stoves are sure to follow.

We had to put a bullet into your dad’s head to save you from smoke. You’re welcome.

        • You`re right, and i will keep prepping anyways. I don`t give a rats ass what the government says or does. While they are busy arresting us we are busy prepping ourselves and the government losers can all starve to death.

      2. Don’t burn wood in your wood stove. Burn bibles and korans instead.

        • I don’t know whether to help you or euthanize you.

        • Anyone who would burn a Bible is evil evil evil.

          • Bible paper does work well for rolling joints though. In a pinch, it will do the job. Very thin paper.

            • Time for mommy to put acid back in the basement and take away the computer.

            • Beware of dumbass children such as acid, who know not what they are saying.

            • YOU are a piece of fecal matter !

            • Acid must be muslim to say that.

          • In light of this article and my own growing feelings, I think I will stop commenting here. Too many trolls showed up too quickly on this site. This used to be a decent community with fun disagreements. Out and out trolling was a rarity. Not anymore. Too many government shills here hoping someone will get pissed and say something of use in their false flags. Peace and be well old timers.

            • I have said the same thing over the years but keep coming back after a couple of months. Mac is a good guy and deserves our support. He has made a place where all can make a statement and learn a little at the same time. So I will ignore the jerks and continue on.

              BigB

            • I just ignore the Trolls. They are useless eaters….that are also consuming air. I will not
Waste any effort on them. They should all be buried at sea with Bin Ladin….That way I can piss on their grave from my boat every time I get the chance. The way to bring this page back to prepping…is to ignore the Trolls ….

          • i got one for you, and you can believe it or not. So, preacher goes to this conference and somewhere along the way was going to give a hug to this Yemeni dude. So, dude says no, don’t hug me and lifts his shirt. spaghetti. The story was 300 missionaries congregated onto this one city in Yemen. Then the city leaders got together and killed them all in one day. burned their bodies in a pile or something like that. So, this dude one day noticed some thing sticking out from under the steps. Ends up it was a bible. he reads it. he converts. So, he tells his father. The father orders the brothers to kill him. They all take him outside and take turns stabbing him. at some point a huge man walks up and picks him up. can’t remember if brothers were gone. So, he doesn’t die. Gets to USA. So, what was he doing at the conference? It was his last stop or something before he goes back to Yemen. Said when the father found out he was alive then the father immediately slit the throat of the eldest son for not killing him. i don’t know if he ever made it back…
but just to let you know there are others in the company who want to burn bibles/christians/and you! Anywho, there’s some related article Yemen Christian Burned to Death for Her Faith

        • To Nobama:Unprepossessing to nth degree but I would assume that’s your intent.

        • Nobama, With all the cost of these wars based on religion, and police protection costs and these religious terror attacks. We need to start passing these costs on to the Religious communities and cult Churches and Synogogues. TAX PAYERS should NOT be paying for Religious Cults HATE SPEECH, they are trying to pass off as free speech.
So END ALL THE 501c3 Tax Free status of all relious organizations. Makw them pay for their hateful actions and war mongering. Send the bill to the Jews for starters.

          • Exactly! If we could rid this world of all religions, then we would have more peace, fewer wars, and reduced need for prepping.

The evil is in each religion. Religions all need to pay for their war crimes. ALL of them!

Once the religion virus is eradicated, then we can focus on crushing corporate/political greed, the second of the two causes of war.

Unfortunately, none of that will happen in my lifetime. So, back to prepping for more wars…

            • That’s right! Atheists have such a stellar track record of compassion and humanitarianism!

              • Religion has been the longest standing corrupt government in history. Keep believing it, you’ve already shown what a moron you are.

        • Burn fiat greenbacks……In quick time they will be worthless.

          • Fire is the great equalizer / force multiplier. Scares the crap out of the “Big Hoax” believers. They think it is the devil.

        • Nobama I will keep my Bible you burn your Koran,,,Idiot.

          • Tacoma, if you like your fairytale you can keep your fairytale.

      3. Time overdue to crackdown on govt. officials, screw with folks taking care of themselves and family and expect anything else, well, get a new job.

        • Warchild, “accidents” do still happen on occasion and I don’t think govt. people are any less vulnerable than any of us.

      4. No. 47. When you’re around sizable crowds (which is not that often, ahem )you’re always sizing things up, escape routes, best fields of fire, what is good cover and what is good concealment (you also know the difference)buildings or terrain that can be used by a sniper against you (don’t lie, you know you think about it)and making sure you don’t get boxed in by huge numbers of people crowding around a particular, vulnerable area.
No.48. You base your weekend outings on the probability of the threat matrix, the level of threat possible, the distances involved, and the difficulty of returning to your base and routes.
No.49. From what you already know, the idea of a Zombie Apocalypse sounds like a relief, compared to what is actually coming down the road.
No.50. When you watch the “president” speak, you’re not so much interested in what he is saying, but just figuring out what he’s lying about this time, and how to adjust your preps accordingly. Goes double for any other govt. “official”.

        • How many times can I “like” this?

      5. If the government does not know what you are doing they will not be able to intervene.

I had to struggle with this decision while building my new workshop.

Do I get a building permit or do i skirt the law and not get one and build it anyway?

I decided to get a building permit because I feared one of my neighbors would call and rat me out while building it. Construction is still in progress, so this decision is still awaiting the end result.

        • John, sucks you have neighbours that close. That said, when building officials gone then do what you really want with workshop. As a licensed builder in one state build a lot of “offices”,i.e. no closet and a glass door.I then add a closet that was figured in planning and change out door a solid one.Tis now a bedroom but the taxes are not higher due to it not being a bedroom. All projects that will increase tax of home need to be done in a way that is cheap as possible tax wise, can add the extras later! That said, live in unincorperated areas no inspectors/property tax ect.!

        • it’s had to put up a structure today, all the assessor has to do is punch in google earth.. I put a new roof on and two yrs later the code enforcement officer showed up, the old roof was frost white and the new roof is brown, while he was there he noticed the porch had been screened in to make a room.. I just bought a permit from him for $125. and the town was happy, now my assessment will go up. some towns around here are fining people heavy for building without permits.

          • When building sheds do not pour a slab, put them on a raised platform, therefore they are not considered a permanent structure. If the inspectors bitch buy an old axle with wheels and call it a mobile trailer.

          • None of my outbuildings or greenhouse show up on Google Earth. The view of my yard is 6 or 8 years old. I don’t need a permit to build outbuildings in my area. You need to move somewhere that doesn’t have all those rules. It would also help to have evergreen trees that hide things all year round.

            • planting evergreens around is a bad mistake, people wake up in the middle of the night or in any snow storm with the wet heavy snow and there’s good chance the tree will be on the house or any building, besides in 1992 we went to 100% assessment and they came around and took pictures of the place, I didn’t give any permission for them to come on the property but they got pictures anyway somehow. I had a garage that I housed a truck in that had 14 ft doors,. I took off the big door and put in a n 8 ft door and made a second floor in the building, when they asked about it, I said it was always like that, they just showed me the picture. there is no skating around much any more, even if I didn’t do things right and my heirs wanted to sell the place, they couldn’t until everything was approved and it’s not only here, it’s all over America.

      6. “A liberal paradise would be a place where everybody has
        guaranteed employment, free comprehensive healthcare,
free education, free food, free housing, free clothing, free
utilities, and only law enforcement has guns.

And believe it or not, such a place does, indeed, exist.

        • “A liberal paradise… It’s called prison.”

I will pay taxes to send liberals to their paradise.

      7. If the government ever does come for us, we will all die just like they planned because we are all individuals hiding behind our computer screens. No threat to their agenda and easily eliminated one by one.

            • It’s the cops who will come for you eventually when you violate one of their codes.

          • You only have power over people so long as you don’t take everything away from them. But when you’ve robbed a man of everything, he’s no longer in your power – he’s free again.

            Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

          • Also SDale, consider this quote about the Soviet police state:

“And how we burned in the camps latter, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, polkers, or whatever else was at hand? After all, you knew ahead of time that those bluecaps were out at night for no good purpose. And you could be sure ahead of time that you’d be cracking the skull of a cutthroat. Or what about the Black Maria sitting out there on the street with one lonely chauffeur — what if it had been driven off or its tires spiked. The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more — we had no awareness of the real situation. We spent ourselves in one unrestrained outburst in 1917, and then we hurried to submit. We submitted with pleasure! ….We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.

      8. Well! Everyone’s on somebodies list somewhere, if you aint, shame on you.

Fortunately it seems that my wife and I are on Daisy Luther’s list. The big joke around my house among the grandkids is that every year ‘gramma’s’ Christmas wish list includes ammo.

      9. I think each one of us knew going into the self-sufficiency lifestyle, that the govt wouldn’t like it. We knew prepping is a form of defiance of govt control. The target we each carry on our backs is our own personal cross to bear, so carry it proudly.

        • It is all about control sixpack. Those who are able to survive and subsist on their own without the government are a danger to them.

        • Sixpack, I wear such a target and possibly some others. I’m most likely on lists going back to the Clinton era, so I bear these personal crosses with pride and honor. I don’t care how govt. officials or anyone else sees it. I’ve always been independent-minded and known how to think for myself. NOBODY tells me what to think or believe about anything. I don’t accept anyone’s propaganda about anything. I’ve said this many times on this site before and it bears repeating. THERE’S NOT ONE THING GOVERNMENT DOES IN ANY ASPECT OF LIFE THAT HAS ANY LEGITIMAE BASIS TO IT. NONE WHATSOEVER. LOOK AT ALL OF THE ILLEGAL AND IMMORAL THINGS GOVERNMENT DOES. LOOK AT THE ATTITUDE OF GOVT. OFFICALS AND EMPLOYEES TOWARDS US. THEY CLAIM THEY’RE ABOVE THE LAW AND CAN DO WHATEVER THEY CHOOSE, THEN THINK THEY CAN PREACH TO US ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. THEY DON’T HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON. THEY CAN ALL GET F#$%ED. My prepping will continue regardless. Doesn’t matter what anyone says.

        • SIX – I wanna know when it became NOT a lifestyle.
The whole idea of one having to think about self sufficency is absurd .
It should be an ingrained part of life.
When i first started reading this blog , I was amazed by the folks who had decided to “prep”.
The very definition SHOULD define everyday life , and should not raise awareness of a government agency.
Preparedness and self sufficiency should be as mundane as going to a store for a gallon .

I get it …………but still amazed.

          • For me, it became a lifestyle when I became an adult and had to do the work—and pay for it myself. As a child, it was just “life” with no foreseeable “style” to it. Now, I can’t imagine going to sleep any other way. Funny how that works.

            • Sixpack, I’m right there with you. I go to sleep every night with peace of mind knowing I made the right decision to get into prepping back in the 70s at the urging of my late beloved wife. I know she looks down at me from the heavens with a huge smile on her face. I’ve never regretted the decision for 1 minute.

        • I completely agree with you

      10. This shouldn’t be a surprise to us. This is just one more thing. Total control. If you have listened to the dreams and visions on other news sources. This is nothing. Its going to get much, much worse. Our gov’t has been poking Russia with a stick long enough. Our gov’t is going to get most of us all killed by Russia, China and N. Korea real soon. If I could, I would go to Panama or Costa Rica or another S.A. country. But I can’t afford to relocate. So I am doing what any smart person would be doing. Preparing. God Bless, you all, Rex

      11. As soon as the name ‘Daisy Luther” appears, the article, or whatever else is attached, loses ALL credibility. She knew nothing 2 years ago, and knows nothing now. Now though, she has a website like everyone else, and PROFITS from her lack of knowledge. And is seen as an authority.
I still remember her storing wet ( green) firewood right in her “livingroom” in Canada,……. oh yeah..right next to the woodstove so it could “dry”……
Then she couldn’t hack it out in the woods in a real type area where we could end up if shtf, so she took her daughters and moved back ONTO the grid, starred a website to profit from not working, and the rest, as they say, is History.

Lived in Canada and was an authority on the USA.

        Please.

        • Rich98, I started questioning Daisy and the “knowledge” she claims to have back in 2013 and I don’t even go to her website anymore. But the article about govt. control freaks is real and those things are happening all over the country. More people need to take a stand and say the biggest and loudest NO to these govt. pricks. If they target me, they do so only at their own peril. Take care.

          • Right brave, EVERYBODY knows what an ” important” target YOU are, because EVERYBODY is out to ” get” you!

            • Anon, about time you came back around. Your beloved govt. is out to get all of us and will make that attempt someday. What about you? Do you prep? Are you on any kind of list? If not, then shame on you. No, I’m not any more important than anyone else. Your beloved govt. looks at all of us the same way. We consider it an honor to be on those lists, which I don’t see any legitimate basis for anyway. If they want to be froggy, let them go ahead and jump, and we’ll see who is left standing when the dust settles.

        • Rich, thats just like prepping, its called free enterprise. So whats your bitch! Trekker Out.

          • Went to Harbor Freight, bought a few things and a pair of mechanics gloves, went to pay with cash no less, and the clerk asks me for my phone number. Like WTF? I said No Thank you and she typed in some bogus number. Like why would they need my phone number? Data base collection? Data mining? What do you think?

            • WWTI, I think it’s data mining. I also use cash for all of my transactions. When anyone asks me for a phone number, I just give them the phone number of the last bitch I had in my life and they’re never any the wiser.

          • TREKKER- my “bitch” is that she gives/has given info that could get people hurt/dead/sick.

      13. Lists, hell…… I’ve even got a “secret” file by law enforcement….a LEO told me all about it years ago…..
I am “suspected” of all kinds of things, arrested and convicted of nothing. He was shocked when he made my acquaintance at a gun club, as from reading the file he had thought I was either a serious nutjob or damn near ninja.
People, make sure you have a seed vault. A few #10 cans of seeds can grow a train car full of food….but it does take some time, so that’s what the rest of the cans are for.

        • Don’t forget the #10 cans filled with $10 bills.

          Same shit, new day.

          • god-bless mushroom!!

          • I respect you desire for saving spendable bills. Have considered the 5,10 20 50’s or 100’s will be worth nothing in a SHTF scenario. Gold could be unspendable because of possible huge values per oz. Tradable goods and skills might be the preferred route. I don’t know the future any better than anyone else but skills and barter makes more sense to me. Barter was how we got a lot done in Nam…Keep your powder dry

            • You had to be there…

              Same shit, new day.

          • Had a friend who’s parents had a bunch of legal cash stashed in hidey holes. When they passed away their kids inherited them and had all kinds of trouble because they smelled funny. Also, some were old enough that they were actually silver certificates and the dumb fuck retailers thought they were counterfeit.

            • And that is why the Fed Reserve keeps changin the look of the notes.
Its easy to spot ‘old’ money .

              • When I liked down in Ft Myers, FL yeara back some lady was waliing her dog on this remote road, when she spoter something funny looking down in the mangroves. She freaked out ran home and called the cops. The ciunty cops came out and in the hiding was a safe and 2 large suit cases. Guesa what was in it? Over $5 Million in cash. Of ciurse the Cops claomed it and declares it drug money so they kept it and divied out out to all the LEO agencies. Like what a stupid lady. I would have gotten my car quick pulled up and threw it in, and go rented a storage locker and layed low for a while, then moved away to another area and enjoyed life. Go buy gold and silver…

          • How about coins instead of paper.

          • $10 bills? that will be worthless?
No – fill it with Silver Dollars and “junk silver” – old quarters and dimes. Take those $10 bills and convert them TODAY!

      14. what ever happen to operational security?

      15. Look for stoves with a hotplate – the cook stoves are exempt from the EPA rules.

If you live near the Canadian border and own a snowmobile and a cargo sled, you probably have better option available to you.

Also, does anybody knows what the constitutional basis for the EPA’s claimed authority is?

        • AC, there is NO constitutional authority for EPA or any other govt. agency to even EXIST, never mind have any kind of authority. ONLY Congress has the sole authority to make any laws, being the legislative branch. The executive branch, which EPA is part of, is supposed to ENFORCE laws, while the job of the courts aka judicial branch is to INTERPRET the laws. ALL govt. officials can go stuff it as far as I’m concerned.

          • Right on!

          • Same with the BATF. They were intended as a mere tax collection branch of the Treasury, yet they get away with creating unconstitutional laws that they themselves don’t abide, carry machine guns while harassing, intimidating, and sometimes killing with impunity but no authority to do so.

Time has come to END all rogue tyrannical alphabet agencies comprising the Fed.

          • Funny, because the same sentence exists and applies with changing out EPA for cops…..yet most FW’s here don’t understand that, are buddies with them and support them emotionally, mentally and physically. Yet they will rally behind your statement against the EPA.

        • @ AC…

          Article I Section 8 Clause 3.

I would venture to say at least 3/4 of US Code is based on an entirely too broad interpretation of the Commerce Clause.

        • AC , Its called legislation thru regulation.
Unelected beuracrats writing regulations that are “implemented” rather that legislated into law.
I personally believe them all to be unconstitutional.

        • well, I just happened to run across that pre1980 wood stove in dads barn. Who did I buy it from…no I didn’t buy it, like I said we’ve had it all these years. You want a can of nuts? …….Have a couple dozen coffe cans full in the shed…oh…you don’t want any……why do I ask?…..because sir it sounds like you and your posse have more than just a few screws LOOSE!

      16. Rocket mass heaters…look them up. They burn so clean that all you have left is steam they work great use less wood. And you can build it yourself till they out law fire bricks then youll have to drink the koolaid get your chip move into the factory house eat your s green and baaahappy. Sorry its cold out and i need to go shovel feeling like a negative ned…but hey you dont even own your land so i guess the king can tell you how to live on his land…okay im done gotta go freeze.

          • TM 31-210

        • Old70,

Thanks for the list. I do not have a clue how to do some of the things that you listed, even though I consider myself a prepper. How do you covert a gas engine to a steam engine? I have made black powder from scratch but you still need ingredients like salt-peter, sulfur, and charcoal. I took care of a man whose homemade muzzle loader blew off the stock and gouged his right eye out and left a festering hole that was over an inch deep in his forehead. I wish Mac would focus on these subjects once or twice a week. It would be great if meetings or fairs, or conventions could be held that would teach some of these skills for preppers at a regional or even a national level.

Again thanks for the list and the thoughts.

          Louisiana Eagle

          • I am with you Laeagle, I don’t know how to do many of those things either and I’d bet many many here do not. Old70 and I don’t agree on certain things, but I sure could use a guy like that around to learn from.

          • I would say that the guy who had the Black powder gun blow up either had way too much powder in it or most likely he didn’t have the charge up tight against the powder. black powder, unlike gunpowder is very forgiving. I could explain how to change a gas eng to steam but it would be faster and you could understand it better by going to Utube.

        • Why would I need to learn how to put clothes on animals?

        • But seriously, yes – learn some stuff. Do you know how to make a .22 pistol or rifle using brake line from a car?

          Rifle –

          Shotgun –

And there are many other videos. The one I saw before was a pistol, and the wood was drilled and the brake line was inserted through the wood. Can’t find that online now.

      18. If I wasn’t married with kids I’d be so far away from this insane country In Jamaica a person can start a business in their home or on the street and the government could care less they have a saying ‘man free’ one that this country has mostly forgotten

        • Erytin is irie

      19. Makes you wonder if the government would rather see you freeze to death than burn wood. I wonder if EPA officials burn cleanly and how many BTU’s do they give off? What kind of odor is the smoke?

        • I wanna know how many of them smoke….that’s much worse than wood stoves.

        • Burning toxic waste like govt workers would be horrible for the air 😉 …on the other hand maybe a bit of dirty air in exchange for no govt morons would be worth it eh? REB

      20. I will ask the same question again — WHAT THE HELL CAN THE COMMON MAN DO ABOUT IT?! Not a goddamned thing. The laws have been written to preclude the public of ANY involvement or input into our own lives. And our lack of outrage only encourages the bureaucrats. But then, if we become too enthusiastic, the Feds come calling, with trumped up charges, and just ruin your whole day. Armed active involvement is about all that is left. You think the cops have it bad right now? Wait until this helplessness feeling the public is feeling boils over and becomes domestic terrorism. Trust me when I tell you this — Islamic terrorists have NOTHING on the ingenuity of the American citizen whose rights have been trampled by laws and law enforcement, and whose very existence, guaranteed by our Constitution, is threatened. I suspect that ALL elected officials will sometime in the near future REQUIRE armed body guards to fend off a continuous barage of assasination attempts. When the rest of our country wakes up to the fact that our freedoms have been stolen by our own elected officials, all hell will break loose, and Law Enforcement will be on OUR SIDE. Well, except for the insecure zealots on the force. One citizen is easily taken down, charged with everything the Feds can think of, and locked away in a deep dark hole forever. But when it’s 100 million of us, let’s see who wants to negotiate first.

        • I heartily concur with you assessment…payback is coming!REB

      21. The Obama bureaucrats at the EPA fear that our little wood stoves may be contributing to “global warming…

Really? I am a Canadian who hikes a lot in the Canadian Rockies. Early pictures from the area vs. today show much glacier recession, at least for some glaciers, such as Bow Glacier, which is the source of the Bow River. The hiking book Classic Hikes in the Canadian Rockies shows this glacier around 1900. If you go there today, the same glacier is much, much receded. BUT here is the rub. The same anti-science types, who think science is determined by “consensus” (of which there is none, not even close) rather than **experimentation and hypothesis testing**, unthinkingly look at this and make utterly unwarranted conclusions. The fact of the matter is that there was something called the Little Ice Age (LIA) the nadir of which was the early 1800s. The simple fact is that this was one of the coldest periods since the Ice Age, and we are still emerging from this. THAT, mon ami, is why the Bow Glacier – and its sisters – have receded: we are still emerging from that LIA. This is why, according to the Archeological Survey of Canada, the tree line was 100 km. NORTH of where it is today during the MWP (Medieval Warm Period, which was preceded by the similar Roman Warm Period.

Incidentally, that emergence from the Little Ice Age has stopped over the past dozen years – there has been ZERO global warming since 1998, which now even the co-opted IPCC admits, as did Phil Jones at Hadley , the lead global warmer – until ClimateGate forced him to resign (and you’ll notice the leftists and Agenda 21 scamsters hope you’ll forget Climategate… along with Lois LernerGate

More evidence. Kegwins’ study in Nature on marine radioistopes shows that we are, today, still BELOW the 3,000 year average. If you google “Dr. Tim Ball+picea glauca” , or go to http://drtimball.com/2012/sensationalist-and-distorted-climate-stories-increase-as-climate-science-failures-exposed/ you will find a pix of a white spruce stump on the coast Canada’s Arctic Ocean, dated about 5,000 years ago, and NOWHERE near today’s treeline. Of course, no one on the left has the intellectual honesty to address any of this.

The reality is that the left, the BIG GREEN MONEY, and the Agenda 21 types want to control energy, which allows them to control everything that touches, which is… well, everything

        • ANON-
There ya go again lettin common sence and facts get in the way of speculation , err no “science” .
          Great post , thanks .

          • Agenda 21 is an under discused topic.
This whole article about EPA regs and being grid tied are all relateable.
Current regulations are the basis for law down the road , when the UN Agenda 21 and wildlands project go full throttle , the base regs will be there to hold it all up. be aware .

        • Anon,

Thanks for your insights. You remind me of Be Informed. Keep the comments coming.

          Louisiana Eagle

      22. More on the BIG GREEN MONEY AGW scam: Last Oct. 2013 – March 2014 period was the THE coldest in N. America in over 100 years. China and Thailand lost rice crop – and people died of the cold – during the same period. NASA just reported THE coldest temp EVER in Antarctica, of -135.8F, and Antarctic ice is at an all time EVER record extent (same Antarctic the self proclaimed “science guy” Bill Nye thought was the Arctic during one debate). Arctic ice up somewhere around 50% or so as well.

But even if we were to grant the fraud “consensus” argument, since when has “consensus,” rather than experimentation and hypothesis testing defined science? Since Galileo? Copernicus? Columbus? Since Hitler had published “100 Scientists Against Einstein?” Since Columbus? Since Ignaz Semmelweis was drummed out of the medical biz in the 1800s for insisting his doctors wash their hands between operations? More on that consensus horsemanure:

Al Gore, the same man who flunked out of graduate school (in a non-scientific area no less) has stated about global warming “The debate in the scientific community is over.” In contrast, Dr. Richard Lindzen of MIT, professor of atmospheric science has stated “Al Gore is wrong. There is no consensus on global warming.” and the frantic alarmism all over the media has, in Dr. Lindzen’s own words, “nothing to do with science.” Meanwhile, Colorado State University meteorology professor emeritus William Gray says about global warming: “It’s a big scam.” Frederick Seitz Past President of the National Academy of Sciences sponsored a petition against the whole global warming façade, which over 19,000 scientist signed this petition… as opposed to the 600 the U.N. could scrounge up, and some of these 600 have since reconsidered their past agreement, such as Nobel Prize winning physicist Ivar Glaever who stated in an update to the U.S. Senate Minority report for 2007 that “Global warming has become a new religion” and “I am a skeptic,”.Japanese scientist Kiniori Itoh, another former IPCC member who has called Gorian warming a “scientific scandal,” while noting that people “will feel deceived by science and scientists” when they learn the truth. For a complete list of signees to the OISM petition – which includes a simply staggering number of Ph.Ds go to the .oism (dot) org/pproject/ site, where they are arranged in alphabetical order. Meanwhile a similar petition www (dot) petitionproject – as of Aug., 2008 – had 31,072 scientist signatures, including 9,021 with Ph.Ds disagreeing with anthropogenic global warming.

      23. Truth In Labeling

We seem to be living in Opposite Land these days. People give a name to an agency, or a cause, and the object (and the outcome) is actually the opposite of the name. Take the EPA for example. The “Environmental Protection Agency.” If the goal was to protect the environment, the agency has been an utter failure. The environment is not better off because of their work. It’s worse.
*(personal note- I think the climate changes quite often, but totally disbelieve it is caused by man)
Or ‘Homeland Security’. Is the homeland actually more secure because of them? No! The object, from the beginning, was never to secure any homeland. It was to seize freedom from the citizens. In that regard it has been successful but the name is certainly misleading. I guess if they’d have named it the “Freedom Seizing Gestapo” folks wouldn’t have been so passive in accepting it. Again, the name is the opposite of the true intentions.
Or how about “civil rights”? While the people who marched back in the 1950s and ’60s for the right to vote, or apply for a job, or live in the neighborhood of their choice, certainly had the moral high ground at the time, the whole civil rights movement has been hijacked. It’s been taken over by those who care nothing about civility or rights.
On the one hand, we have the professional race-baiters like Al Sharpton, more racist than any hood-wearing Klansman ever was. And Jesse ‘Love Child’ Jackson. An extortionist of the first magnitude. Where’s the civility in racism or extortion?
On the other hand, the movement has been almost entirely co-opted by a tiny, but determined, group of people who choose to foist a perverse lifestyle on the majority. Time and again, when the people vote (by the millions) to reject the promotion and public display of immorality, the practitioners of perversion make an end-around through the courts.
Judges, often members themselves of the small group of weirdos) toss out the elections, thereby dismissing the will of the people. In effect, the majority has been disenfranchised. And all in the name of ‘civil rights’! Who’d have thought, a generation ago, that a movement to secure voting rights for blacks (11% of the population) would ultimately be used to deny those very rights to some 95% of us? Including most blacks!
There are countless examples of this trend of calling things by one name, while the intent is the opposite.
Public servants are anything but. They take. They control. They manipulate. They oppress. They NEVER serve anyone but themselves.
Judging by the widespread ignorance of history, mathematics and science, we can only conclude that ‘public education’ is every bit as effective as the EPA.
The Department of Agriculture seems to be promoting and protecting nothing but genetically modified frankenfoods. And the agro-chemical giants that make them. Small farmers, on the other hand, who want to sell unpasteurized milk will find themselves looking down the barrel of a gun. Held by none other than an agent of the so-called Department Of Agriculture. Outrageous!
The oppositely named ‘Department Of Defense’ has never defended this country from anything. It should be more properly labeled The Department Of Attacking Third World Countries For The Military Industrial Complex And Promotion Of World Tyranny. I guess that’d be too long a name to sew on a uniform patch. At least when they were called the Department Of War the name wasn’t so misleading.
You simply can’t believe anything about these folks based on the names and labels they use. And now, in the interest of full disclosure, I have a confession to make.
        I don’t smoke.
There. I said it. Well, at least I’m being honest. And please don’t start calling me the Tobacco Free Okie.

        • Smokin Okie,

You’re on the S List in Opposite Land. They’re comin’ for you now, pal.

        • Well spoken my friend…always good to hear from you! REB

        • According to comedians, the first opposite-named government department was the Department of the Interior, which was supposed to control the outdoors.

        • SmokinOkie, outstanding post. Nothing in it I can dispute.

      24. Obama and his global warming BS?

Tim Ball+picea glauca” or go to http://drtimball.com/2012/sensationalist-and-distorted-climate-stories-increase-as-climate-science-failures-exposed/ you will find a white spruce stump on the coast Canada’s Arctic Ocean, dated about 5,000 years ago, and NOWHERE near today’s treeline. Of course, no one on the left has the intellectual honesty to address any of this.

The reality is that the left, the BIG GREEN MONEY, and the Agenda 21 types want to control energy, which allows them to control everything that touches, which is… well, everything

      25. Yes more on Obama and his “Al Gore Dog and Pony Crony Billionaire” Scam Show:

Farley Mowat, the noted Canadian leftist and Greenpeace activist, wrote in his book West Viking (written while we were still in the global cooling scare) that there were probably at least dwarf forests growing in Greenland when the Vikings arrived in 985 AD and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History reports “… Erik the Red discovered two areas of southwest Greenland which were suitable for farming, with grasslands and small stands of alder and birch.” You will note that it is too cold today for any type of forests to grow in Greenland, and there is zero ability to farm. Mowat also reported the Arctic pack ice was much less in that Viking discovery era than today. Dr. Fred Singer writes that when the Vikings first settled Greenland, they grew vegetables, and it was warm enough to allow the population to grow to 3,000 people and by 1100 AD the place was thriving enough that they had their own bishop and twelve churches. Nature reported in a 2010 article that clamshell studies also confirm Norse records. Meanwhile, the Archeological Survey of Canada has also noted around “A.D. 1000, a warmer climate resulted in the tree line advancing 100 kilometres north of its present position.”

Indeed, when I was visiting Iceland at Skaftafell Nat’l Park two years ago, Icelandic historians know from extant deeds – and have put in the displays at the park – that somewhere around FORTY old Viking era farms are currently buried under the Vatnajokull glacier system (the largest in the world outside of Greenland and Antarctica). In other words, it was simply much warmer in the Icelandic settlement era than it is today. We are routinely informed of the melting of Greenland glaciers today at lower altitudes, but demonstrably there are at bare minimum low altitude glaciers in roughly the same geographic area that had seen more melting and more pronounced glacial recession one thousand years ago than we see today. Al Gore may want to visit Skaftafell National Park in Iceland on one of his many jet-setting, carbon burning trips to check the facts himself.

More evidence: There are records of grape growing occurring in places in northern Europe back during this optimum where they can’t grow today. Gregory McNamee, in the Weather Guide Calendar (Accord Publishing, 2002) noted that wine connoisseurs might have gone to England for fine vintages (can’t grow fine vintage grapes there today!), that heat loving trees like beeches carpeted Europe far into Scandinavia, and Viking ships crossed iceberg free oceans to ice free harbors in England…”. Art Horn writes that “In the winter of 1249 it was so warm in England that people did not need winter clothes. They walked about in summer dress. It was so warm people thought the seasons had changed. There was no frost in England the entire winter. Can you imagine what NOAA would say if that happened next year? “ On the other side of the world, research by Panin and Nefedov in 2010, where they analyzed rivers and lakes in the Upper Volga and Upper Zapadnaya Dvina areas in Russia, also found evidence of a Medieval climatic optimum in that part of the world Even worse for the warmers, recent research has found evidence for the Medieval Climatic Optimum in the central Peruvian Andes – see http://www.nipccreport.org/articles/2011/sep/21sep2011a3.html, southern South America, see http://www.nipccreport.org/articles/2011/dec/14dec2011a4.html, China, see, http://www.nipccreport.org/articles/2012/jan/18jan2012a4.html, where the author XJ Zhou notes “temperatures in the Medieval Warm Period are comparable to those in the current warm period over China,” and Antarctica, Li, Y., Cole-Dai, J. and Zhou, L. 2009. Glaciochemical evidence in an East Antarctica ice core of a recent (AD 1450-1850) neoglacial episode. Journal of Geophysical Research 114: 10.1029/2008JD011091 (summarized at http://www.nipccreport.org/articles/2011/sep/20sep2011a5.html). Amazingly, there is even clear evidence of the LIA and MWP in Antarctica- see http://motls.blogspot.com/2012/03/paper-antarctica-did-experience-both.html#more as well as Western Canada, as illustrated by the picture of a white spruce found on Canada’s Arctic Ocean (see http://drtimball.com/2012/sensationalist-and-distorted-climate-stories-increase-as-climate-science-failures-exposed/ Picea glauca (white spruce) stump on the Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula in tundra, some 100km NORTH of the current treeline. Photo by Professor Ritchie (University of Toronto). Radiocarbon date was 4940 ±140 years Before Present (BP), and was featured in Hubert Lamb’s classic work Climate, Present, Past and Future.
Another study, by earth sciences professor Zunli Lu (formerly of Oxford, now at Syracuse Univ.), studied samples of crystal called ikaite, which forms in cold water, and will melt at room temperature. Samples were taken by Lu and colleagues, examined for variation caused by temperature fluctuations during formation, and dated. The result? Lu writes: “This ikaite record qualitatively supports that both the Medieval Warm Period and Little Ice Age extended to the Antarctic Peninsula.” What does this mean? It means that the MWP was not simply a localized event in northern Europe, or even the northern hemisphere. And if it was as warm 1,000 years ago as now all over the world, Al Gore is simply wrong. Study summary by the UK Register at http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/03/23/warm_period_little_ice_age_global/

      26. They have to crack down on us Preppers. If they don’t we just might take over.

OH what blessed day that would be!

Preppers show the world that the B.S. known as the welfare state is just that B.S.

Let them try to punish us because we will make it hell for them to exist. You see they need sheeple and that is something we folks here are not.

Stay strong my friends we will end up on top. It is only a matter of time.

I post this the other day. We are advised to carry off duty. The message didn’t say why. maybe it is because I live close to Shitcago. This was before all the B.S. in France. So all of the cops on here should do so and all of you with CCW should also.
        A.S.M.S.
        Sgt.

        • HAHAHAHAH!

          He said “ShitCago!”

          LMAO!

Sgt, Dale, you tickled my funny bone!

I’ve called it that multiple times. Most of the time, though, people call it ChiCongo.

I thought Shitcago was *MY* term. Obviously not!

        • I am just a United States Of The Republic Of America Citizen. I did my duty today Sgt. I went to a local Classic Car Show in my small (AZ) home town doing my usual ‘Open Carry’. Just a little ‘self preservation’ tactic. Keeping a watchful eye out for lone nut cases or Alli BaBa. You just never know these days!
          I enjoyed my afternoon out!

          • M
            Keep up the good work.
Did you happen to see 1973 Mercury Montego Gt.
I hade one in 1973 with a 351 Cleveland. God I wish I still had it. It had large maple tree fall over it and totaled it out. only had 10,004 miles on her. Damn I miss that car.
            Sgt.

            • Thanks.
No did not see a 73 Mercury Montego GT.
My first car was a Gran Torino with a 351 Cleveland in it…of course being a youngster I blew the motor hot rodding. Now in my grown up years I grandpa crawl around town in my 71 Buick Skylark.
Having been born and raised in the burbs of Detroit Michigan I know a thing or two about good ole ‘Detroit Steel’ cars.

      27. Soooo. I won’t be able to trade my old broken down woodstove in on a new one. They want me to junk it.

I had the same problem with an old 1964 Falcon. They wouldn’t take it on trade for a shiny new 1972 Jimmy(Didn’t really blame them). But I didn’t want to junk it.

I took it out back and parked it in the woods. One day I would fix it up. Over the years it has gotten more bang for the buck than that dealer would have ever given me. It has been used as a beer garden, a smoke shack, a chicken coop and a spare parts bin.

Turns out, the dealer was the one screwed up. I finally sold it to a guy with a crazy grin on his face and a wallet bigger than his brain.

Says it was some kinda rare “Futura” model with the hipo 289.

I gave him the tree growing up through the trunk for free. Sucka…

        • Thats funny,
A friend of mine in Co had one he used as a dragster, could never figure that one out, was fast but butttt ugly!

          • They were ugly for sure.

The reason they were used on both the drag and road racing tracks was the fact that the chassis was the identical one used under the Mustangs and many of the performance parts were interchangeable.

        • If the 289 engine was a K code the cyl heads where worth a $1000. Ive got a 55 chevy that runs in the 9,s in the quarter mile. I did own some 289 powered mustangs & fairlanes in the past.

          • I like the old 351M
Had a 79 F150 4×4 with that plant in it, sucker could haul ass and sounded like a truck,
            Now everything is deisel,
            Would love one but no$

          • Old guy;
That is an impressive 55 Chevrolet. 9’s are
smoking. My hat is off to you.

By the way to anyone– Why when I am typing on my laptop into this forum, does my keyboard have to be pounded on when any other time I use it, it works fine?

            • my 55 has a built 454 with 2 fours four speed and 456 gears. Ive had it since high school. Back then in the 60,s It was a 283 bored .060 to 292 with double hump heads a 30-30 cam hedders topped by a carter AFB carb & three speed trans and 411 rear gears. That engine was a 8,000 RPM screamer.

        • My first car was a 1964 Nova post coupe with a straight 6 engine and 3-speed on the column. I was going to convert it to a 327 with 4-speed but a U-Haul truck hitting the back of it at 30 mph killed that plan. The car quit on me at a red light and that damn truck hit me before I could get it started back up. My doors were jammed shut from the impact but my driver’s side window was open so I had to climb out through the window, especially when I smelled gas leaking. One minute later the car blew up. It became a crispy critter. I had some minor injuries, but otherwise I survived the ordeal.

      28. If they come to check out my homestead I’ll let my AP-06 do the talk’ in and I assure you I do not talk hot air. I will more than likely betaken out but a few of them will also.

      29. They can crack down all they want. Means nothing to me. They are irrelevant. Of course, if they catch me, they might put me in jail before I put some of them in the ground. Could happen. Don’t care.

My survival needs trump any color of law bullshit stains they can scrawl on paper.

All I can say to them is: PUCKER THE HELL UP!

Once it starts they’ll either be kissing my butt or diving for cover.

One thing many don’t realize: if they would practice good OpSec, there would be little problem. Too many people demonstrate their “preppieness” to others in an attempt to convert them from sheople to something a little more sane. Don’t do that! If you can’t get them to realize that what you do is necessary by citing the evidence in the lamestream then you should just leave them be. They’re a lost cause.

When you show them how much of a prepper you are it just tips them off. They’ll tell a few people and eventually it gets back to someone and, pow, they got you. Burn your wood, do your preps. Go off the grid slowly so they don’t notice. Sneak off the grid.

Yeah, I know, we shouldn’t have to, but like the author of the article said, many of us say we live in a free county. Well, its anything but free.

Grey Man – Its the only way to be.

      30. I live in a snow zone and commonly the power can go out for days at a time. Without wood hear it could get serious very fast. I just want to left alone to live my life free of petty fools. My nearest neighbor is a mile away yet but it feels like civilization is crowding in with new regulations all the time. I am not going to freeze to death to make petty fool happy

      31. It don’t matter what they do the UN NWO & agenda 21 will fail. One thing they cannot control legislate or regulate. That’s Mother nature AKA the sun moon & earth. The ongoing pole shift and its clatyclisms will separate the wheat from the chaff.

      32. Let’s see now.

        Can’t collect rain water.
Can’t grow a garden in place of a useless lawn.
Can’t disconnect from the power grid.
Can’t get a smart meter removed from the house.
        Can’t stop the NSA spying.
        Can’t heat with fire wood.
        Can’t have a outhouse.
        Can’t have a firearm.

        Can be unemployed.
        Can be disappeared.
Can be on a “kill list”.
Can be tortured, I mean enhanced interrogated.
Can have propoganda used on you by your government.
        Can be drafted.
        Can be FEMA camped.
Can speak your mind in, ” free speech zones”.
Can write your elected representative. Hahahhahhahahaa

I got it you are an Americants.

        • I can do everything on your “can’t” list, except maybe the NSA one. But the NSA can’t see everything, such as my books, papers, and never-online computers.

I collect rainwater. I can grow a garden anywhere on my property I please. I have some solar power. I don’t have a smart meter, and my electric bill this past month was the lowest I’ve had in 20 or 30 years. I have a wood heater. I have an outhouse. I’ll stop there.

If you can’t do the things on the “can’t” list, you might need to move somewhere else.

I’m not unemployed. I went Galt over 10 years ago.

I think I’m too old to be drafted.

      33. Sounds like the tyrants who told me I had to say “Merry Christmas” over the holidays. Talk about speech police!

        • Dazed and confused, there’s no censorship here. No tyrants here. You’re looking in the wrong place. Go to the MSM sites. That’s where they are.

      34. It took awhile to get my husband on board with prepping. Now, that’s all he talks about 🙂

      35. Geo lithic I’ve been to Jamaica and love it is very poor there people are very desperate to sell you things I never took offense to it. They are very aggressive to sell something it can be intimidating but people are very respectful and proud of their country. I respect that. The younger people have great respect for elders which is the way it should be but I would never move there. Over America. Anyway the gov pushes all this green crap I’ve been doing this stuff for years. It is not new to burn wood in the northeast everybody does. My brother in law lives without heat at all not because he wants to but because he is irresponsible. mother in law went into the nursing home because she is 80 and he owed money to gas co they turned it off. He lives there alone with no electric either my wife told him as long as he pays water and sewer town won’t make him leave. this stuff about cracking down on folks who live this way is false there are minimum housing requirements that’s it. I’ve never seen anyone doing the minimum have problems. Me I like electricity internet cable tv heat air conditioning all that. I wouldn’t want to live like he does if I don’t have to. You have to have water and sewer folks you can’t berry your crap in the back yard that is raw sewage town won’t have it I don’t blame them that’s filth. There is a law no open burning in my town I do it anyway and the town doesn’t care I’ve never been harassed about it. Florida has homeowner associations and screwey laws regarding no utilities I don’t live there but I know this. And regarding the schools wanting kids vaccinated for childhood illnesses that’s to keep your kids healthy. My kids get the flu shot and their mum but I don’t I can but it’s not worth it for me to I have little contact with people working outside I have had the flu but I can deal with it my kids are healthy. I understand people’s concert with vaccines I don’t like them pumping shit into me either. But the kids are little and my son has asthma and mom wants the flu shot. I don’t want my kids with the flu they can get pneumonia and die possibly so for now it’s ok with me. You gotta pick and choose your battles in life .if you don’t like the way it is you can move to remote Alaska with all the people who wanna be left alone and that’s fine. Different strokes for different folks I don’t see anything wrong with subsistence living if your up to it. It is a little outdated though. I fix all my own stuff. sometimes you have to pay someone to come in but I like to have peace of mind having supplies on hand have been through disasters and always made it through . Don’t understand the gov cracking down on people for being prepared they are the ones who told us to prepare. this site is always demonizing the gov we know they suck . But I’ve never been harassed by them. In the throes of disaster they the gov is not as almighty as people act. They fail to help folks that’s all. You are on your own .i don’t think it’s all a conspiracy just a lot of it is. I’ve lived in this community all my life and the gov isn’t that organized trust me.

      36. I wonder if their are more women preppers or men preppers? Just curious.

        • that should read are “there” more. oops

        • Thumbs down on this???? Wow, the leftist “Yes we can/Yes we have no bananas” chanting trolls are sure back!

      37. Wishy-Washy fence sitting will get you killed. Take a stand on one side of the fence or the other. Times are about to get very and I mean very interesting between now and June. People are starting to wake up in mass. There are going to be more terrorist’s attacks in Europe. They start here also so just prepare for the oncoming events. The traitors in our Government are starting to really run scared; they realize their days are numbered. They will not go down quietly and the Patriots are not going to roll over and play dead no way will that happen, so you see its game on soon. PREPARE!!!

      38. Re. the USSR, Solzhenitsyn once wrote:

        Alexandr I. Solzhenitsyn
        The Gulag Archipelago (1970)

      39. And speaking of Solzhenitsyn….

“Man has forgotten God, that is why this has happened.”

Those chilling words are from Russian author and Nobel Laureate Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. As a prisoner for eight years in Soviet forced labor camps, he experienced first-hand the depravity that human beings are capable of. Reflecting on the carnage wrought by godlessness, he said,

“If I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: ‘Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.’”

      40. mmmmmmmmm

        Question again ?????????????

        300 million people in the U.S. ?

        85 million gun owners ?

        1.4 million active military ?

        780,000 law enforcement ?

        WHO IS OUT GUNNED ??????????

        So CHILL OUT everyone.

By way 3% + crimes are committed with firearms, and most of them are drug relate.

And here is something else for you percentage of RAG HEADS who are thinking of messing with us.

If our MILITARY does not get you, OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT WILL.

If our Law Enforcement does not get you.

        WE WILL !

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT MESS WITH A PISSED OFF AMERICAN.

        ENOUGH SAID ?

        A Public Service Message……………

      41. Wood Stoves that are inefficient are still being sold. It is proposed, not law.IF you want to find the truth, check online how many places are selling pot belly, box stoves, etc. Northern Tool is one of them …And if you want one in the future, get them now before they are banned.

BTW, they can’t ban steel barrels, steel bars, welding, hinges, metal plates and chimney pipe. You can make your own wood stove.

        • get one now and have it hooked up and burning so you will be grand fathered in.

          • grand fathered in, be able to prove that you have been heating with the stove. where I live, they’re going after the out side wood stoves, no more can come in, but they can do nothing about the ones here,.

      42. What is happening to us??? The same thing that happened to the Kulaks in Ukraine. Stalin Declared them “enemies of the people” and then took their lands under collectivization. Their farms became places where young commies would come and try to “Convince” the people how good Communism was. Read about this time and what Stalin did. He sent the GPU to basically kill anyone who didn’t get in line.
Now how about now in this time
They haven’t officially taken the land. But they have taxed the land so if you don’t pay they will take it. You do not own it you rent it form the gov. NOW the only thing to do is for the gov. is essential TAKE IT!!!!!!!
        Don’t worry SOON SOON!!!!!!!

      43. What about us Urban Preppers? I feel left out, haha. Even thou I was put on the sideside, I have my Prepper Agenda too. Check me out on Youtube guys “PrepperAgenda”
