As Congressional representatives overwhelming approved the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act in February of this year, few Americans were paying attention. When President Obama signed the Act into law, he did so in secret, without any of the fanfare that came with his signing of universal health care two years prior – and for good reason. This is one of those laws the government doesn’t want you to know exists until it’s too late to do anything about it.
For many, awareness of the existence of the new law will only become apparent when they are arrested and charged under new Federal trespassing guidelines as they attempt to protest, display signs or disrupt any person or event of national significance. An event of national significance is any activity where Secret Service agents are responsible for security. With several thousand agents in the field at any given time, events involving the President, Congressional members, staff or individuals running for Federal office are all fair game.
Simply standing with a bullhorn, holding up a sign, promoting a contentious message or even being on the grounds of a Secret Service secured event will now make it possible for the government to detain, arrest and charge those involved in these “disruptions” (even if you just happen to be passing through) with a felonious criminal act.
Excerpt from HR 347:
Whoever attempts or conspires to knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions, engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct in, or within such proximity to, any restricted building or grounds when, or so that, such conduct, in fact, impedes or disrupts the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions;
OR
knowingly, and with the intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions,
obstructs or impedes ingress or egress to or from any restricted building or grounds…
The punishment for a violation is—
(1) a fine under this title or imprisonment for not more
than 10 years, or both, if—(A) the person, during and in relation to the offense,
uses or carries a deadly or dangerous weapon or firearm;(*editor’s note: did you want to show your support for the 2nd Amendment by carrying your rifle or gun to a protest or march like so many have done in the past? Do it as of now and you’re facing ten years in prison)
or
‘(B) the offense results in significant bodily injury as
defined by section 2118(e)(3); and(2) a fine under this title or imprisonment for not more
than one year, or both, in any other case.
The law is very clear in who has authority over these events, but as is generally the case, very broad in what can or cannot be deemed a disruption.
Judge Andrew Napolitano weighs in on Fox News:
“This is not like a traffic ticket – for standing and protesting.
The type of thing that for 230 years Americans took for granted because it was protected by the First Amendment. Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech has actually been abridged.

[The law] basically allows Secret Service agents to decide where there are ‘NO Free Speech Zones’, not ‘Free Speech Zones’… ‘NO Free Speech Zones.’

Its really hard to pass a law when you can’t raise a quorum of legal senator and congresswimps, right? Since 1871 and the act of the same name, we’ve had no congress and no senate. All the “laws” are codes and statutes and its all fake, smoke and mirrors. They are, in a phrase “color of law”.

It’s sad Winston. Several years ago our local paper ran an article written by our high school history teacher. He went on and on about our democracy this and our democracy that. I wrote a letter to the editor lambasting this guy for perpetuating the idea that our form of government is a democracy. Never heard a word from this guy again but when I ran into people I knew at the store or wherever, I got all positive comments. Seems to be that many people are tired of hearing the word democracy and not Republic.
That amendment, in some form, needs to happen. That proposed amendment is intended to undo the Citizens United decision, which handed an immense amount of power to the corporations and 0.1%, and permits the monied interests to hijack our public policy.
That said, I doubt anyone in the government will follow through with any meaningful constitutional change that will take one iota of power from the puppetmasters.

The military is the real wild card in any revolutionary scenario. Without it, a revolution would be destined to fail due to the overwhelming force it wields. Sorry, but a rag-tag group of militia types wielding semi-automatic rifles is not much of a match for the surveillance state coupled with the most advanced military hardware in the history of mankind. Any revolt would almost need to be started by the military or have the military join in or refuse their orders shortly after it started. The best example of this would be the fall of the Soviet Union where they refused to do the bidding of the hardliners that had deposed Gorbachev. An example of what would happen if the military sided with the government would be Tienanmen Square in China. Even with our right to own guns the outcome would be much the same.
It is very difficult, if not impossible for a guerrilla group to win without the assistance of a standing army that is the equal of the one they are trying to defeat. This is especially true in terms of what would be essentially a second civil war. It wouldn’t be another Vietnam because it would be a war for the very survival of the ruling class and the nation as it stands. They couldn’t just give up when the political will turned against them. The best hope then would be a rather bloodless coup that ended quickly. However, I would not place too much faith in such things as you never know what will come out the other side. Whatever you do, don’t get caught up in the idealistic notion that some sort of violent uprising would of necessity re-institute a more pure form of the US Constitution. Remember that it can go either way and what comes of it could be far more repressive than what exists now.

This law would never stand up in court. Just because the congress passed it and Obama signed it into law, the courts still have their say. While we are moving at hyper-speed into a Police State we still have the Bill of Rights and Supreme court rulings like Marbury vs. Madison, Virginia vs.Black, Watts vs. The U.S., and Miranda vs. Arizona. Except those orders are not unlawful when they are handed down to you by the “Commander in Chief” or Congress. Immoral. Unconstitutional. But not “unlawful.” When your chain of command ends at the monster (err, president) who gave the order, then your choices are complicity or mutiny.

I don’t pretend to know all the subtleties and US legal side to any great degree but even I understand the natural born clause, if all the documents are there, and most seem to be, referring to his early life, schooling and religious education in Kenya, surely travel records would show where he was at what time even if the birth certificate debate goes on. You can’t ce at school in Kenya and in Hawaii at the same time. Have the ‘lost’ those records as well?

I live in a samll farming community with a small town about 15 minutes away and tonight I noticed them all over the roads at intersections, it is very odd to see so many out this way in a rural area. I have seen them on highways and such but never out here. Could somebody tell me what they are used for, these were not connected to a digital thing that clocks your sppeed this is just cords across the pavement of road. Thanx for any info. I have family in Chi town worried very much for them gonna see of they take a lil weekend trip that weekend. Scared something bad is about to go on, hope and pray I am wrong.

What’s sad is that there is so much more I would say on many matters but I find myself second guessing how it will be perceived by the government and if it is worth it. It’s almost like living in a communist country where, in theory, you could speak freely, but in reality doing so would get you thrown in a detention center or the gulag.
