From time to time we get a peek inside the mind of a true insider. George Soros knows a thing or two about destabilization and far from equilibrium situations. He’s been on the giving and receiving ends of both. From surviving the Nazi occupation of Hungary during World War II, to single handily crashing the currencies of entire nations, the experience he brings to the table should not be ignored.
With his deep connections in economic and political circles, if there’s anyone who knows what’s coming next, it’s Soros.
In his book The Crash of 2008 and What It Means Soros warned that no matter what governments did, there was no way out of the trap in which the world – namely The United States – finds itself:

The response to the unrest could be more damaging than the violence itself. “It will be an excuse for cracking down and using strong-arm tactics to maintain law and order, which, carried to an extreme, could bring about a repressive political system, a society where individual liberty is much more constrained, which would be a break with the tradition of the United States.”
One of the leading financial minds and policy influencers in the world has just outlined the best and worst case outcomes for this crisis, and both of them are disastrous.
We cannot stress enough to our readers that, despite the many criticisms, Mr. Soros knows what he’s talking about. He is connected to all of the major players on all levels – economic, financial, political – you name it.
He has gone so far as to suggest that the consequences for America are a complete breakdown in law and order, riots in the streets, financial collapse, and a repressive government response.

Screw the legality. You follow stupid laws you give those asses that make them power over you. Some things are against the law because they are inherently evil like murder, and some things are against the law because some jackass says they are. A short-barreled shotgun falls in the latter catagory. If I had a shotgun and I felt the barrel was too long, I would not be looking to see whether it was legal or not for me to make it shorter.
Understood, but before sawing the barrel down out of spite, you may want to look into seeing if a sawed-off gun makes any actual sense.
A pure scattergun (12″-16″) is a useful last-ditch weapon if you’re in a room or other semi-enclosed area where the target cannot easily get out of the way. But, the shorter the barrel gets, the lousier it becomes for any other use – especially where distance may be a factor.
The shot needs that time spent in the barrel to gather up speed (and therefore power) from the expanding gases you generate from the burning gunpowder. A shorter barrel means less time to impart power into the shot – and a bigger gauge won’t really change that.
(it also destroys accuracy, but the idea of a scattergun isn’t really accuracy).
Now given the specialized nature of the gun, we need to do one more thing: justify keeping it and/or carrying it around. Outside of home defense, it’s very tough to justify having one at all.
All said and done, home defense is about the only real use the thing has, but given most homes, an open choke shotgun pointed in the right direction will get the job done just as easily, but with more power behind the shot. As a bonus, it has at least some accuracy, making it somewhat useful outside the home.

Have you ever had any formal training on shotgun? An NFA combat shotgun with 14″ barrel with a red dot and vang comp will easily put three slugs inside four inches at 75yards. Buck will be inside eight inches at 25+yards.
An 18.5″ will do that with slugs at 100+ yards.

Becauae I have plenty of other guns and have not felt the need to get one. I bought one for my brother this last Christmas and I can shoot it anytime I feel like firing a shotgun. My preferred weapon is the pistol because it can be concealed, the rounds are cheap compared to shotgun rounds and even cheaper because I handload, and I practice with it often enough to feel confident if I had to use it.
The only good a handgun has ever done is to get you back to the rifle you should have never put down!!!

I grew up dirt poor in the West Virginia Appalachian Mountains in the early 70’s. My grandfather, father and oldest brother were Marines and one brother was Army and two other brothers that didn’t serve. I also had 3 sisters. I learned respect, honor and patriotism. Since there were 8 of us I had to learn how to hunt at an early age for game and I was taught from the age of around 7yrs old how to shoot,hunt,trap,track and how to blend in with surroundings along with survival techniques. My oldest brother said he would only accept head shots on squirrels from me using our scoped Sears .22 which taught me much patience lol. I got my first gun at 10yrs old, a Model 42 .410 Winchester, and hunted on my own from then on, on my uncles land which was hundreds of acres. Every Fall I brought home several deer, turkey, lots of squirrels,lots of rabbits and occasionally grouse or pheasant. My father signed the papers for the Navy and two weeks after graduating high school at 17 yrs old I was in basic training. I’m glad I learned what I did and I handed it down to my son because now we’re heading into something that many of us may have to defend ourselves. I don’t want to shoot anyone but there’s people out there that no doubt will kill you or your family which leaves you NO choice. I have 3 family members to care for and I won’t be taking any chances and also what I’m about to say may be bad but I took an oath to defend the Constitution and if our government orders Martial Law I will go to the mountains but any soldiers that disobey their oath and turn on citizens will become targets of opportunity. I’m sure I’m not the only veteran thinking this.

Although a little later, I also grew up in Appalachia and after working as a wilderness survival and firearms instructor for city folks, moved to the center of West Virginia ten years ago where I built an off-grid home. My family’s diet is heavily reliant upon wild game and one of my greatest concerns is that the mountains will become over-hunted during a long-term crises.
I read that game numbers shrank drastically during the great depression and with over 10 million new guns being purchased last year am concerned my mountain will be overran by those who bought them trying to figure out how to feed themselves. My neighbors and I have an agreement that we do not post our property with no trespassing signs, but allow each other to roam the woods freely. Maybe that will have to change.

I don’t know how else to say it, but in a TEOTWAWKI situation, it will go from a concern to a certainty.
Fortunately, most people suck at hunting. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that will be out looking, so the law of averages will catch up.
It’ll take at least six months before the majority of die-offs in the post-collapse human population (less in winter, say four months). Even most preppers here only stock up for six months at most.
Personally, I’d say that you need to stock up for two years’ worth of food for each family member. One year for certain, and the second just in case the collapse drags on in fits and starts, to allow for charity, or in case of loss from fire, burglary, etc.
This way, if all goes well for you, by year 1.5, most folks will have died off from starvation. This means less hunting pressure, and a lot less pressure from thieves and the like so that you can start growing your own food.
We are working on year three and considering whether to harvest and can enough game to fill the 400 canning jars held in reserve immediately after TEOTWAWKI. Like you said, the year after garden may be impractical or a total loss due to looting, etc.

I am also bugging in here in central WV. You are so right about the game disappearing. The number of deer I’m seeing is way down even now. I put out a little cracked corn for the wild turkeys. 30 or so come to my yard every day. When things break bad, in my neighbor hood, that flock of birds will be gone in a couple of weeks. When I moved here in the 70s game was scarce and there were no wild turkeys.

Gator (USN): It may not be as bad as some think. The Police and the Military also have families to protect and I think many will simply leaves their posts in order to defend their homes. The greater threat will be large local and roving gangs that will go into neighborhoods and small towns and lay seige to them. Many gangs have sent their members into the services to learn military tactics and strategies. Easy to have a legal short barrel shotgun. In over 30 States this is legal and simple to do. You may purchase one already made as a short barrel shotgun from a Class 3 gun dealer in your home State or you may make your own after receiving your approved Form 1 from BATFE.
The same thing applies to short barreled rifles, destructive devices like the M203 grenade launchers, and suppressors(silencers). A better way to deal with underground elite bunkers is to save your welding consumeables, instead get a bottle of propane, locate the ventilation system, open the propqne valve all the way and let it fill the bunker. Propane which is heavier than air will displace the air in the bunker. Light that sucker off – result, a bunch of crispy fried elites! Then get out your oxyacetylene torch, cut your way into the bunker, and help yourself to their supplies.

The ventilation shaft is a good idea, but the fire will destroy supplies. Better to just plug up the holes, wait a week or two, and then cut your way in (being sure to let it air out very, very well before entering). The occupants will have died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
OTOH, again, this is assuming you can actually find the thing, or even know it exists.
Let me put it this way: If I were super-wealthy, I would have greased a few bureaucrat palms somewhere in, say, the Kamchatka peninsula (look it up). As a soldier currently serving as an Infantry Medic in Afghanistan, sh*t get’s f*cking real very fast. You could be on patrol with the highest tech gear, predator drones, air support but, no matter how much sh*t you have, you cannot stop an ambush or a command detonated explosive. It’s relatively rare that you see it coming. The REAL advantage we have is night operations with quality night vision and infa-red lasers and when applicable, massive amounts of air support. Now, If there are riots and massive amounts of people are being hurt by the criminal scum and looters ect. Then yes, it would be my duty to protect the families of this nation. I.E. Protecting the Americans against the Immediate threat. Contrary to what ALOT of people make us military folks out to be on these survival forums, we are not cold blooded killers. 99% of us would never even think about shooting an unarmed civilian or somebody that posed no threat. I have met alot of very respectable and upstanding infantry men that have abided by the Law’s of War to the utmost degree. The elite would NEVER turn this military like Hitler did. NEVER. I can’t say the same about the police, I don’t work with them and don’t know how their attitudes are. I would assume that the police would be more brutal because they are dealing with AMERICANS daily, while the military is fighting Islamic Extremists. Wherever I go, people are extremely nice and friendly towards me while I’m in uniform and the military has lots of compassion for the Average American because of the massive support you have given us over the years. The military LOVES the american people and I personally would do anything in my power to provide them with any service I can. ( I’m A medic mind you). I haven’t met ONE military person in the 7 years I have been in that has had anything bad to say about the American people, whereas they trained us for years to identify the radical islamic terrorists. After 10 years in afghanistan and 8 years In Iraq, there is no way they can just be like, “Here’s your new enemy, the American People, start shooting”. Lol…That is absolutely rediculous! So yeah, to simply answer your question, I would never harm an american citizen unless my life is in direct danger. I made an oath and will never accept an unlawful order. It is our duty as soldiers to refuse unlawful orders, that’s what I tell my soldiers at least.
Right now, due to our neat toys, I agree, we’re at a ratio of something like one American soldier being “worth” 50 or 100 Iraqui irregulars.
Take away the toys and we still have an advantage (it’s difficult to describe quickly, but our very culture makes us rather good soldiers, it’s the same thing that makes Italian cruise ship captains cry for Mommy while British and American (and Australian etc.) cooks and guitar players stay on the ship and rescue people) but it’s only something like 1:5 or so, maybe 1:3. And they’ve got a lot more of them, fighting for their HOME and their VILLAGE than we have guys willing to go Over There and fight even halfway hard.
At “toys” parity, we’d have to go home.
Home force always has the advantage too, people will fight like hell for their homes.
Here in the US, the insurgants (us) would have a HUGE advantage. Knowing our territory, having family and loved ones to defend, etc.

I was unsure whether to bring up the D-word, but also read this prediction recently on survivalblog. It makes me feel better about holding cash in addition to precious metals after my ground, guns, and grub were in place. I suspect at some point there will be a period of deflation which the fed will overcorrect causing hyperinflation. It has been said that “cash at the crash will be king” so I want to have some. If not, I can spend it all at Sam’s Club in a few hours.

Hyperinflation means that wages rise along with costs which equals prices increasing. I doubt TPTB will let this happen. They are holding interest rates to zero to keep the debt interest down. Even though the USD has declined a bit in the past few days, it is higher than it’s been in years, relative to GBP and Euro.
At some point in deflation, people just go out of business. THAT would hurt America where we live. So, deflation may be more likely, as long as we think this entire economic SNAFU is purposeful.

Likely, there will be a mix of price inflation and asset deflation, but I doubt there is enough gold and silver in the world to float a global economy, or even a national economy. I think he knows what will happen, the problem is we are operating on a timeline that few know. I think he wants to still be alive and usher in the NWO. I think that is why people are noticing an increasing speed at which things are happening.

We now give out participation badges in schools. So you can just about go through some high schools here and barely read. There was a defensive end that played for the Washington Redskins, Dexter Manley and graduated from college and could not read or write. So I can understand some people’s plight. INMHO, George Soros and the PTB, are just about ready to implement their NWO. They have created the monster, but we are the ones that will bring it to life. One dire warning to the American Sheople and within hours, we will be at the point of no return.

Coincidentally, it was reported that a homeowner in my neighboring state shot and killed a prowler very early this morning…then a few hours later the local “post-am news show” had one of their female reporters at a local shooting range learning how to handle and shoot a hand gun. I couldn’t believe what I was watching…never would have expected to see a show like this on the local news (in one of the MOST liberal cities in the country)…our little weather anchor girl doing a show on firearms and shooting a real gun at a Santa target. 🙂
This is weird, seeing what Soros has admitted…and knowing (on the word of some people who know) that he has property in the Sangre De Cristo mountains of Colorado south of where I live. I live in a mid sized town maybe 100k people and noticed something yesterday. Anyway, I go to pawn shops regular and saw someone in asking about silver coins. I’ve never seen this before and i go to pawn shops at least every couple of weeks for past 5 or so years. Thinking its time to unload the silver that’s left. My house got bulgarized last year and all i have left is a few coins, since they gigged me for better than 10k in old silver. I’m just putting it out there.

And yes it was my fault. Came home from a weekend camping trip at the river with children to find guns,coins,electronics, and tv ripped off the way. i had the coins just setting in the closet, like they had been for years. Bought most in the 7 buck range,bought for when children got older and I got enjoyment out of collecting them. What i learned from the experience, is bury it. Nothing safer. Long term i still think coins are good, but might be able to get better prices down the road.
