This article was written by Michael Snyder and originally published at his End of the American Dream blog.

Editor’s Comment: The gift that keeps on giving. An endless ocean of radioactive water, spilling into the Pacific Ocean at an astounding rate, every single day. The effects of this nuclear waste, particularly in the form of cesium 137 and strontium 90, are epidemic – they are being hidden by a refusal to report on the disaster, and by the diffuse global web of biology.

Though consumers of news, or groceries, don’t see it happening, these radioactive materials are curbing population numbers, and contamination is bio-accumulating up the food chain. A cow in California, for instance, may have only been exposed to a very minute amount of this radiation, but likely ate from an entire field of contaminated grass, and every tiny bit adds up. For humans, eating from many sources at the top of the food chain, this accumulates into greater exposure than direct measurements can account for.

There is no end in sight, and no one who has yet managed to grab back the public’s attention and get across how important this issue continues to be.

Northern Hemisphere Potentially In Great Danger As Fukushima Radiation Spikes To ‘Unimaginable’ Levels

    by Michael Snyder

Radiation inside one of the damaged reactors at the Fukushima nuclear power facility has reached an “unimaginable” level according to experts. Because so much nuclear material from Fukushima escaped into the Pacific Ocean, there are many scientists that believe that it was the worst environmental disaster in human history, but most people in the general population seem to think that since the mainstream media really doesn’t talk about it anymore that everything must be under control. Unfortunately, that is not true at all. In fact, PBS reported just last year that “it is incorrect to say that Fukushima is under control when levels of radioactivity in the ocean indicate ongoing leaks“. And now we have just learned that the radiation level inside reactor 2 is so high that no human could possibly survive being exposed to it.

According to the Japan Times, the level of radiation inside the containment vessel of reactor 2 is now estimated to be “530 sieverts per hour”…

The radiation level in the containment vessel of reactor 2 at the crippled Fukushima No. 1 power plant has reached a maximum of 530 sieverts per hour, the highest since the triple core meltdown in March 2011, Tokyo Electric Power Co. Holdings Inc. said.

Tepco said on Thursday that the blazing radiation reading was taken near the entrance to the space just below the pressure vessel, which contains the reactor core.

The high figure indicates that some of the melted fuel that escaped the pressure vessel is nearby.

It is hard to find the words to convey how serious this is.

If you were exposed to a radiation level of just 10 sieverts per hour, that would mean almost certain death. So 530 sieverts per hour is simply off the charts. According to the Guardian, this recent measurement is being described by scientists as “unimaginable”…

The recent reading, described by some experts as “unimaginable”, is far higher than the previous record of 73 sieverts an hour in that part of the reactor.

A single dose of one sievert is enough to cause radiation sickness and nausea; 5 sieverts would kill half those exposed to it within a month, and a single dose of 10 sieverts would prove fatal within weeks.

And the really bad news is that there appears to be a 2 meter hole that was created by melted nuclear fuel “in the metal grating under the pressure vessel in the reactor’s primary containment vessel”. The following comes from Bloomberg

New photographs show what may be melted nuclear fuel sitting under one of Japan’s wrecked Fukushima reactors, a potential milestone in the search and retrieval of the fuel almost six years after it was lost in one of the worst atomic disasters in history.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. Holdings Inc., Japan’s biggest utility, released images on Monday showing a grate under the Fukushima Dai-Ichi No. 2 reactor covered in black residue. The company, better known as Tepco, may send in a scorpion-like robot as soon as February to determine the temperature and radioactivity of the residue.

If that isn’t frightening enough, one Japanese news source is reporting that this melted nuclear fuel “has since come in contact with underground water flowing from the mountain side”…

The melted fuel has since come in contact with underground water flowing from the mountain side, generating radioactively contaminated water every day. In order to dismantle the reactor, it is necessary to take out the melted fuel, but high radiation levels inside the reactor had hampered work to locate the melted debris.

If this disaster was just limited to Japan, the entire northern hemisphere would not be at risk.

But that is not the case.

Most of the nuclear contamination from Fukushima ended up in the Pacific Ocean, and from there it was literally taken around the rest of the planet. The following was reported by PBS

More than 80 percent of the radioactivity from the damaged reactors ended up in the Pacific — far more than reached the ocean from Chernobyl or Three Mile Island. Of this, a small fraction is currently on the seafloor — the rest was swept up by the Kuroshio current, a western Pacific version of the Gulf Stream, and carried out to sea where it mixed with (and was diluted by) the vast volume of the North Pacific.

We don’t know if there is a connection, but it is extremely interesting to note that fisheries up and down the west coast of the United States are failing because of a dramatic decrease in fish populations. Just check out the following excerpt from a story that was posted on January 18th

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker today determined there are commercial fishery failures for nine salmon and crab fisheries in Alaska, California and Washington.

In recent years, each of these fisheries experienced sudden and unexpected large decreases in fish stock biomass or loss of access due to unusual ocean and climate conditions. This decision enables fishing communities to seek disaster relief assistance from Congress.

Things are particularly bad up in Alaska, and biologists are “stumped” as to why this could be happening…

In 2016, the pink salmon harvests in Kodiak, Prince William Sounds, Chignik and lower Cook Inlet came in woefully under forecast and stumped biologists as to why.

The estimated value of Kodiak’s 2016 haul was $2.21 million, compared to a five-year average of $14.64 million, and in Prince William Sound the ex-vessel value was $6.6 million, far less that the $44 million five-year average. The total state harvest was the smallest since the late 1970s.

Although state biologists weren’t ready to declare a cause for the poor pink salmon performance, the Commerce Department press release attributed the disasters to “unusual ocean and climate conditions.”

Further south, it was being reported last month that millions of dead sardines are washing up on the shores of Chile.

I could go on and on with a lot more examples like this, but hopefully you get the point.

Something really strange is happening in the Pacific, and a lot of people believe that there is a link to Fukushima.

Not too long ago, I wrote about how the elite of Silicon Valley are “feverishly prepping“, but the truth is that all of us should be. If you need some tips on how to get started, you can find my prepping book right here. Our planet is becoming increasingly unstable, and the Fukushima nuclear disaster is just one piece of the puzzle.

But it is definitely a very important piece. The nuclear material from Fukushima is continuously entering the food chain, and once that nuclear material gets into our bodies it will slowly irradiate our organs for years to come. The following is an excerpt from an absolutely outstanding opinion piece by Helen Caldicott that was published in the Guardian

Internal radiation, on the other hand, emanates from radioactive elements which enter the body by inhalation, ingestion, or skin absorption. Hazardous radionuclides such as iodine-131, caesium 137, and other isotopes currently being released in the sea and air around Fukushima bio-concentrate at each step of various food chains (for example into algae, crustaceans, small fish, bigger fish, then humans; or soil, grass, cow’s meat and milk, then humans). After they enter the body, these elements – called internal emitters – migrate to specific organs such as the thyroid, liver, bone, and brain, where they continuously irradiate small volumes of cells with high doses of alpha, beta and/or gamma radiation, and over many years, can induce uncontrolled cell replication – that is, cancer. Further, many of the nuclides remain radioactive in the environment for generations, and ultimately will cause increased incidences of cancer and genetic diseases over time.

Are you starting to understand the gravity of the situation?

Sadly, this crisis is going to be with us for a very, very long time.

According to Bloomberg, they are not even going to start removing melted nuclear fuel from these reactors until 2021, and it is being projected that the overall cleanup “may take as long as 40 years”…

Decommissioning the reactors will cost 8 trillion yen ($70.4 billion), according to an estimate in December from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Removing the fuel is one of the most important steps in a cleanup that may take as long as 40 years.

The unprecedented nature of the Fukushima disaster means that Tepco is pinning its efforts on technology not yet invented to get the melted fuel out of the reactors.

The company aims to decide on a fuel removal procedure for the first reactor during the fiscal year ending March 2019, and to begin removing fuel in 2021.

A lot of people that end up dying as a result of this crisis may never even know that it was Fukushima that caused their deaths.

Personally, I am convinced that this is the greatest environmental crisis that humanity has ever experienced, and if the latest reading from reactor 2 is any indication, things just took a very serious turn for the worse.

      1. All because of an earthquake.

I say we ban earthquakes and tsunami’s.

Everyone needs to retreat to their safe space.

        • yep, they weren’t ready for it. I’ve read that we have diesel generators that are geared up to run for 10 days, to cool down the cores(it actually takes 7 days).

        • Can we just ban false-news articles from Michael Snyder?

            • Check your current Radiation Exposure here:

http://www.radiationnetwork.com Live Updates every minute. This is a US Map with all the Nuke Plants and the current emitting radiation levels.

Save this link to put on your cell phones, to monitor Rad levels while on the move. Stay upwind from the radiation. Radiation fallout is like snow. So the safest place to be is in the middle of the building. A 4 story building would be 2nd to 3rd floor.

              • Better yet, get a radmeter. Do you really trust some site to give you accurate info? We have 3 of them.

        • Actually the real Achilles Heel was the absence of a directly coupled diesel emergency water pump. They had emergency water pumps coupled to a motor that was powered by a generator with a diesel prime mover. The tsunami shorted out the electrical end.

          • The French have defense in depth with a water reserve over top of the reactor core. As long as there is gravity you have emergency cooling water. Another solution is a steam turbine that is powered by the residual heat on the reactor after the control rods scram the reactor. The water goes to the condenser and therefore little is lost. When the temperature decays to a point of the turbine not having power the water is no longer required.

In the end backups cost money. Every industrial accident I have ever read about, and I have read quite a few have one common link, cost cutting, either to decrease expense or increase productivity, usually both. .

            • Also fukushima’s water pumps were similarly placed as new orleans generators, underground. Once they flooded, they became inoperable.

            • anything wrong with thorium reactors?
nuclear power, the gift that keeps on TAKIN’.

              • BTW, my brother works in a fish plant on oregon coast…i just asked him a month or so ago, “you see/hear anything about fukushima?”……..nope……….”so, fish are coming in, getting processed, in the usual amounts”…..yep….. i just don’t get it……go out and take a look at the pilings at low tide. do you see starfish and other sealife on them……yep…….i want to believe this bitch has destroyed the pacific, but according to my brother….boots on the ground, so-to-speak…..everything’s fine……………..i just don’t get it.

        • No, not “all because of earthquakes”… All because of greed– stupid men allowing these damn reactors to be built in the first place.

also, I read that they CAN’T send in robots because whenever they tried that, the robots MELTED!!

          • Anonymous

Its not that they’re built but rather where and how they’re built. You don’t put them on geological fault lines. you design for the worst case, not the best. France gets somewhere around 80% or better of its electricity with nuclear power plants. They’re all of the same design. Any failure on one gets a check on all. Training, parts, reliability, safety are enhanced.

There are safe ways to do dangerous things but it costs added money.

            • The theory of plate tectonics had not been accepted by the scientific community at the time of the plant’s design. They didn’t know any better at the time. Construction had already begun by the time tectonics was widely accepted.

        • The original design by GE was sold to the public as 100% safe for any and all events. The real issue is not earthquakes, a natural phenom as you suggest. It is that we still have many of these very same designs right here in USA and some directly on earthquake faults. What has really happened is that the reactors at FUKU have in fact melted down and it is being covered up by governments and PRAVDA/MSM. Can’t have the economy undermined now can we ? No matter what happens.

        • It’s all O-Zero’s fault. He was the usurper in chief when this all went down.

      2. This is bad.

New Radiation Level at Fukushima Dwarfs the Highest Peak at Chernobyl

“And that Fukushima’s reactors had actually suffered something much worse than a total meltdown: nuclear melt-throughs, where the nuclear fuel melted through the containment vessels and into the ground.”

“…radiation will pollute the area around Chernobyl for 5 to 10 times longer than models predicted – between 180 and 320 years.”

“This new record at Fukushima is 70% higher than that of Chernobyl.”

        ht tp://www.washingtonsblog.com/2017/02/radiation-level-fukushima-times-higher-chernobyl.html

        • I believe this article to be correct. Too much weird death in the ocean over the last few years. Japan is fooked. Do people actually think that this can just keep on leaking out for the next century and nothing significant will happen? Pretty fookin ignorant. I make my own detox capsules with cilantro, spirulina, bentonite clay.

“You can ignore reality but you cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality!”

      3. oh my i’m scared….there “michael snyder” is that what you wanted to hear? now sit down and stfu, dumbass.

      4. Is there anyway we can speed this shit up cause I am tired of talking about it.

I vote for a financial collapse first.

        Followed by a race war.

If you had a choice. What would it be?

        • A nuke strike on our big cities would cancel out the race war AND facilitate the financial
collapse. No more Wall Street. Of course we would be back in the stone age, for real.
Maybe we can then head up to Canada if they don’t have a wall built to keep us out.
No wait, Canada is a NATO country, so they might get nuked too. Looks like our shit is
          in the wind.

        • I would choose that all liberals and psycopaths and people that crave power be raptured to mars.

          • They would contaminate that planet too.

            • Edgar Cayce (psychic) predicted that “the greater part of Japan will go into the water”. Makes sense!!

              • Cayce was a genius of sorts. He also predicted that Florida and the west coast would be inundated. And that sunken islands would “reappear”, pyramids and such would appear in strange places, such as the ones appearing in the South pole. He said a great earthquake would devastate our planet and described in my opinion a pole shift. He also said great historical discoveries would unfold and Atlantis would reappear. At any rate I am hoping the biblical rapture is around the corner. I am ready to blow this place and go to my real home!

                • Hard to imagine you seem to understand some of what Cayce said and believe in the Christian rapture ? These ideas are quite opposed and very different.

        • Race war ethnic cleansing. The right against the left I want to see those idiot liberal protestors get whats coming to them.

          • White, self-hating, self-loathing liberals are priority #1 if any race war ever does go hot.

      5. So much good news today,,,,

        • Nailbanger:

Cheer up. Japan just started a program to deal with the pollution in the ocean off their shore. Contrary to being discouraged, this is finally moving in the right direction. I believe President Trump was instrumental in getting the ball rolling. This is breaking news which probably will be ignored by the lying chew news on Marxist Smut Media.

          __? ?

          __

          • Im plenty cheery,,, just bein sarcastic,,,i take everything with a grain o salt

            • Me too! Especially tequila 😛

      9. Good news is, its 85 Degs here in FL today. lol,
Got sun screen? Prep for that too, along with Bug spray.

        • Bug spray-got a lot of it.

Would hate to garden w/o it.

      10. I believe that Fukushima was done deliberately. There was a site that told the story but I can’t find it again. It claimed Israel planned and carried out the event as planned. Supposedly Japan was selling material to Iran, nuclear material. Earthquake caused by underwater planted nuke to cause tsunami to intentionally destroy the Fukushima facility. The destroyed reactors had individual bombs placed inside. I would not put it past them. I do not believe this was a naturally occurring event.

        • Na, it was just saving money on design.

        • BTW: Stuxnet was found on at least 29 computers in Japan in October of 2010. Stuxnet was invented by the CIA and Israeli MOSSAD.

Japan had helped Iranian nuclear engineers solve a few problems that had been preventing them from bringing their nuclear power facility online – which pissed off the Israelis. Guess who the Japanese had hired to provide the Security for their nuclear power facilities, including Fukushima?

An Israel security company. Connect the dots, Aljamo, as to how that stuxnet virus got uploaded onto the Fukushima nuclear power facilities computer network, which failed to detect the tsunami and subsequent earthquakes caused by it – and had it done so, an orderly shutdown would
have been triggered and the Fukushima disaster might have been avoided.

The stuxnet virus – once uploaded – is designed to position itself between the CPU and the fail safe portion of the computer code who’s function it is to monitor &
alert the main processor of any potential danger, such as seismic shifts caused by dramatically changing weather conditions. Stuxnet prevents those alerts from being passed on and instead, sends signals to the main processor that everything is A-Ok. Even when it is not.

Get the picture now, on Fukushima and who is responsible for it?

        • You are absolutely correct. They were in charge of all security magically just like all the airport security on 911 was run by Israelis in the US. The Japanese were being extorted to buy US debt and when they refused a nuke was set off by the Israelis “Rothchilds” offshore. This created the Tsunami and after this the Japanese did indeed buy US Bonds “Debt”.

      11. My yard is full of pollinators and I get more every year. Toxic commercial insecticides and weed killers will harm bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Big corporations and greed are partly responsible for the contamination of the planet.

      12. Lets see 1 sievert = 100 Rad. One rad is what you get in about 3 years of natural exposure. 8 sieverts exposure in one day will most likely kill you and if not the radiation sickness will have you wanting to die.

So exposure to 530 sieverts would probably have you fall over dead before you even knew you were exposed….

I think its time to move out of Commifornia to our house in Prescott

      13. correction 1 sievert = 100 rem

      14. Man, in his arrogance, thinks he can build structures that will withstand earthquakes and tidal waves? Fine, build all you want on the edge of the water, but STOP building nuclear power plants! You DO NOT get a second chance with these to correct your mistakes! Why can’t they understand this? Give safe ole coal any day until something more safe can be discovered. Common Sense!

        • Completely agree and pissed we are all being radiated additionally daily from this shit !

      15. Looking forward to that deer in the headlights look when the masses of sheeple finally realize they’ve been nieve idiots with big mouths and small brains. This Fukushima issue is going to enlighten many, but the other issues globally will mask this situation until it’s to late, which it already is. Radiation=mutations! Think about that a little if there’s any cells left in your cranium
Remember stay away from sushi, she shits her pants.

        • I absolutely hate nuke power!

      16. Ya know guys the pacific is a 1/3 of the waters. I’m not a big religious guy but there is bible prophecy here. “The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that turned bitter”

What do you guys think about that one? Crazy? Or maybe something here?

A heads up and be safe.

        • I think there could be something there….

        • Definitely something there…and alot more. The pages of Revelation are jumping out at us but not all are looking.

        • Well the ptb at the time wrote the playbook so ya it has merit.

        • The Russian word for wormwood

          CHERNOBYL

          No kidding

      17. That area would be a great location for Obama to build his mansion (made possible by stealing from the American people).

      18. The people in Japan need to revolt to get this true catastrophe under control; but they won’t. Their society has been inculcated to unquestionably believe the “authorities”. And while not wanting to offend anyone, many Asian cultures are indifferent to the environment anyway. I have traveled a great deal, I’ve seen horrible and shocking and massive examples of it first hand.
Though the US gov’t knows fully what is occurring, it really can’t do anything about it except keep the citizens fully informed. This inability of action is compounded by the gov’t.’s refusal to publically release all data of this event which will truly become nightmarish. They believe they have their reasons, but their reasons are illegitimate. The population has an absolute right to know, but TPTB would rather see an poisoned and unhealthy society than tell the truth so that people can take measures to protect themselves and their families. Don’t believe me? Why why are they forcing GMO food on us and chem-trailing the atmosphere then? They won’t require GMO information on food products. This is just another indication TPTB and their gov’t minions see citizens as disposable.

        • How do you figure our gov is keeping us informed ? Just curious.

I contacted EPA in Seattle about radiation in salmon and steelhead and they told me to get lost, not their job ? WTF, who’s job is it ? I was simply asking as a fishermen who has harvested these fish for many years and concerned. Not exactly keeping us informed, Hey ?

      19. We need stories like this. Fukushima isn’t going away and it’s not being cleaned up. It is a reality that it is a growing cancer on the ass of planet earth. While they distract people with fake global warming news, the real threat is ignored.

At Fukushima all they are doing is pumping ground water and cooling water and storing millions of tons of contaminated water. Satellite images shows Fukushima has been turned into one of the worlds largest piles of leaky tanks full of contaminated water. Radiation is so intense that even robots are destroyed in minutes in the high radiation areas.

I for one avoid discount seafood like the plague.

      20. I read somewhere that nuclear reactors are designed to last 20 years. Then the fuel is to be removed and they are to be sealed up for 100 years when it is believed we will have the technology to cut up and dispose of them? We are pushing them to the 30 plus year mark? They must be so contaminated the workers must be rotated fast? Like the X-ray room in a hospital? The walls and things being bombarded with radiation everyday for years? How much longer can this go on?

      21. i live in north central az and have a friend who winters here but lives in alaska. he always brings coolers of smoked salmon to sell. this year he said it was difficult to get decent meat. the salmon coming up river were all thin. the meat was pale and had little flavor. he said there was not enough krill in the ocean for them to eat. wasn’t it last year or so that california said to stop eating the bottom dwelling sea creatures due to radiation exposure?

      22. fox news has just started to report on this. the rest of the media – nada .

Yet, no citizen-scientist is able to think, critically, perform an independent test, or draw independent conclusions.

      24. Fukushima is not leaking anything, it’s all bogus, nuclear power does not exist, I won’t go into the science of it all but you need to understand if nuclear power/weapons would exist it would be used long long time ago. watch some videos on youtube about this topic, educate yourself, it will save you tons of stress about this issue.

hundreds of villagers stayed behind in Chernobyl and were just fine and sill living happily till this day.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki was started to rebuilt within months after the bombings, no radiation, because nuclear weapons were never used. THEY DO NO EXIST.

According to his claims, what we are told about these materials is vaguely true, but mostly innuendo.

It has been said, separately, that the Lucis (formerly, Lucifer) Trust wanted to consolidate all such materials, in their publications.
