“America doesn’t trust you anymore. That’s the truth… and that’s not one party, that’s both” raged former Senator Tom Coburn during a hearing before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs this week. As FreeBeacon reports, Coburn, making his first appearance before the Senate since his farewell speech when he retired in late 2014, pleaded with Congress to take action to reform government, quoting de Tocqueville, that an ever more centralized control reduces its citizenry “to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.”
As FreeBeacon.com’s Elizabeth Harrington reports, Coburn is leading a movement of more than 1 million activists working to hold a Convention of the States, allowed by Article V of the Constitution, to force Congress to balance the budget. He said 10 of 34 states needed have passed resolutions so far.
“I would just tell you a little of my background this last year in 2015 I spent my time in 21 different states,” Coburn told the committee. “And America doesn’t trust you anymore. That’s the truth. Because they don’t see the actions coming out of Congress that should be coming out.”“And that doesn’t mean that they’re right all the time, but you’ve lost their confidence,” he said. “And that’s not one party, that’s both. And so when you have hundreds of billions of dollars that could be saved and aren’t, and they know it. You know, they actually read your reports. People online, and then they use social media, pass it around.”
“The important thing is to restore the confidence in the country what you’re doing, and why you’re doing it and how you’re doing it,” Coburn said.
“The unfunded liabilities of this country, with its debt, is $142 trillion,” he said. “That’s $1 million per family, or that’s $1 million per taxpayer. Nobody knows what a trillion is but when you’re telling a young family with small kids, ‘Oh, by the way, here’s the debt burden that’s coming to you over the next 25 years, you better be prepared for it.’”

Coburn said “too much government” and “too intrusive a government” is to blame for median family incomes being the same size as in 1988. Throughout Coburn said Congress needs to stop focusing on fixing the symptoms but focus on fixing the disease. He called for a more simple and fairer tax code, which he said could eliminate 90,000 IRS agents, who make 77 percent more than the average American.
He pointed to Alexis de Tocqueville, quoting at length the French political philosopher’s Democracy in America, to explain the current upheaval in American politics and the presidential race.
“Some of you may have read it, some of you may not have, but it tells me where we are today in our country,” Coburn said. “And having been in 21 states the last year, and 15 already this year, and what I’m hearing, I’m hearing what Tocqueville described back in the late 1700s.”
Coburn cited Tocqueville observations that centralized power of “small, complicated rules, minute and uniform” leads to the “will of man … not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided.”
“Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd,” Coburn said, quoting Tocqueville.
“That to me in my experience, my opinion, is where we are today in our country,” Coburn concluded. “I think that’s why you see the presidential race that we’re seeing.”

What we would get is a nightmare with constitutional guarantees of things like housing, health care, food, higher education, etc. but lacking in basic human rights of religion, free speech, assembly, private property and firearms ownership. Yes. Those who fear the military are not veterans and usually have no military experience themselves. Veterans by and large are a BROTHERHOOD of Patriots who have risked their life for their Constitutional Rights.
I do not know any ex-Marines for example who would not engage ANYONE threatening their right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment.

I didn’t see this question asked anywhere else. This is the first time. First of all, its not the size of the dog in the fight; but the size of the fight in the dog.
I started with a few, then a dozen family, friends, neighbors, and veterans from various social groups, and professional organizations: a small squad. The friends are lifelong buddies who I grew up with and have known since little league.
This nucleus are Combat Vets are of every nationality. ALL are committed Christians.
Each of those individuals, formed their own, separate Freedom Cell. The goal for each is a dozen from their family, friends, neighbors, and differing social or professional groups; even political groups.
Then those dozen created a Freedom Cell of their own, some in other communities within Arizona, others in the greater Southwest. Each member who feels capable of leadership and/or inspired, creates his/her own discrete CELL.
We limit each cell to a dozen max for security purposes. We don’t do “maneuvers” like typical militia. As long as hostilities do not break out in a Civil War between a Rogue Administration and WE THE PEOPLE, there is no need for US to come out of the shadows. And then WE would come out for targets of opportunity to “protect the nation from all enemies foreign and domestic”.
My CELL and others like it pose no physical threat to the Status Quo at this time and confine our activities to political activism and education. However, we are prepared if the situation turns hot. Think of US as G-2 collecting intelligence on the NWO OPPOSITION. “Make a list. Check it twice. Know who has been naughty and who has been nice in your neck of the woods.”
Like Patriots of old, some are businessmen with various backgrounds, abilities, and talents. Each 12 person Cell has at least two Vietnam Vets, or Iraq vets, or both. All members are card carrying firearm owners. No one is added to a Cell except by invitation of ALL members of the Cell and then only over a lengthy period of time in association in a number of environments.
Some of the other CELLS, I am told, have only a half a dozen members at this time, but are growing (slowly). Some of the older Cell Members seed and mentor several CELLS. The common thread for membership is American Nationalism, based upon Constitutional Principles, intelligence, and self discipline with little to no substance use or abuse among members. We monitor member behavior in this regard, over time, prior to any invitation to join US.
Most are athletically inclined toward the outdoors or other sports. Candidates are monitored over time and if not “selected” for immediate inclusion, are placed on a secondary list for recruitment in a national or local emergency: and for more observation. With such independent FREEDOM CELLS all over the nation, the NWO can be eliminated overnight and at 500 yards.
Think of it as a Rotary Club for Patriots !!! 🙂
I can top Apache54’s story. Several years ago, I sat down and spent over 6 hours online collecting my data and doing research into the unbelievable amount of American tax dollars that have been sucked out of our pockets and paychecks and devoured by the criminal, 9-11 false flag engineering State of Israel in the form of foreign aid, military aid, loan guarantees which are quietly ‘forgiven’ by our treasonous scumbags in Congress where they insert a line or two into some must-pass legislation that cancels the loan obligation for Israel to repay their loans and a whole host of other grants and handouts that the jews in America have connived to extract from our wallets. A convention would be the end of the US Constitution. First, the BBA is not designed to limit government spending. It is designed to authorize all of those expenditures which are currently made even though they are totally unlawful. (things like The government spent $2.6 million to encourage Chinese prostitutes to drink more responsibly, The U.S. Department of Agriculture has spent $300,000 to encourage Americans to eat caviar produced in Idaho, The U.S. government spent $27 million to teach Moroccans how to design and make pottery in 2012)
Unlike 1787 the proceedings would not be covert and we are short a few George Washingtons and Alexander Hamiltons. Instead we have “statesmen” like Denny Hastert, Mel Reynolds, Nancy Pelosi and Sarah Palin. Does anyone believe for 10 seconds that The Joyce Foundation, Michael Bloomberg and George Soros would not use everything possible to abolish the 2nd amendment or 9th and 10th amendments?

A coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Feminists, Gays , Government Workers, Union Members, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood , uninformed young people, the “forever needy,” the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other “fellow travelers” have ended Norman Rockwell ‘s America.
The Cocker Spaniel is off the front porch… The Pit Bull is in the back yard. The American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky ‘s “Rules for Radicals” and Chicago shyster, David Axelrod , along with international Socialist George Soros will be pulling the strings on their beige puppet to bring us Act 2 of the New World Order.
Our side ran two candidates who couldn’t even win their own home states, and Chris Christie helped Obama over the top with a glowing “post Sandy ” tribute that elevated the “Commander-in-Chief” to Mother Teresa status. (Aside: with the way the polls were run, he didn’t need any help!) People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will never again comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired.
You will never again out-vote these people. It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away. It will take Zealots, not moderates & shy not reach-across-the-aisle RINOs to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status.Those who come after us will have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to white guilt and political correctness.
ok,now that the government has been put on notice that no one trusts them,now what. what usually follows is a gradual going away from anything connected to the entity. and then no one will follow them anymore. that is when the rubber hits the road.the government will become ever more insistent that it be paid attention to.that moment is the time to strike. let men and women of brave heart strike for freedom.i stand ready for that moment.

I think the Italians have a saying, “A fish rots from the head down”. The hooray for me the hell with you, he who dies with the most toys wins, the ends justify the means the crass selfishness and its mentor overindulgence are all not just accepted behavior but rather strived for.
Moral guidance that should be the arbiter of decisions has left the building.

A third party would make it more interesting. Another choice.

With approval ratings of Congress or the President being the lowest ever, do we have any inclination that things will get better? I would say that they would not care if the numbers dropped to zero. So they continue on THEIR path with a few bones and scraps thrown our way to settle the masses. But things are changing and the miscalculation is that whoever wins will there be riots?
Should there be riots it may disrupt a maintained order of installing the NWO and completely destroying our country. Both political party’s fear loosing control most of all. Is this the reason for Jade Helm?
After the secret TPP and TTIP swindles become an enacted done deal present day concerns will pale in comparison. It only gets more oppressive. Free speech will be severly restricted. Otyrants legacy hangs in this treason being pushed forward while ignoring widespread global opposition.

The vote of confidence is high. Those here put their money where their mouths are- our vote of NO confidence shows through our purchases and what we’re storing away along with using more common sense to what we’re purchasing.
