Editor’s Comment: Quite obviously, President Trump has been cleaning house at furious pace during his first week in office, and he isn’t done yet. Early reports on a leaked memo suggest that Trump’s next target via executive order will be to cut off immigrants ‘likely’ to need public welfare assistance both for current and would-be immigrants, legal or not. If put into full force, this denial of incentive would likely do much more to curb illegal immigration than even a wall or mass deportations ever could.
By curbing or stopping taxpayer benefits handed out to those coming into the country, Trump could kill the incentive for mass waves of immigration. It would mean those coming would have to have to make their own way, and the huge burden on Americans would be relieved. It is a proposal that, perhaps surprisingly, both Bill Clinton and Ron Paul have put forward over the years. However, no official announcement have yet been made about whether the language would really implement this, and when it would come down.

Seemingly following the proposals of Bill Clinton (and Ron Paul), The Washington Post reports that a leaked document shows the Trump administration is planning to crackdown on current, and would-be, immigrants who are likely to require public assistance.

Illegal immigrants take jobs from citizens or legal immigrants, they impose burdens on our taxpayers…
That is why we are doubling the number of border guards, deporting more illegal immigrants than ever before, cracking down on illegal hiring, barring benefits to illegal aliens, and we will do more to speed the deportation of illegal immigrants arrest for crimes…
It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws that has occurred in the last few years.. and we must do more to stop it.”
And following Ron Paul’s advice this week that the solution to really addressing the problem of illegal immigration, drug smuggling, and the threat of cross-border terrorism is clear:
Remove the welfare magnet that attracts so many to cross the border illegally, stop the 25 year US war in the Middle East, and end the drug war that incentivizes smugglers to cross the border.
The various taxpayer-funded programs that benefit illegal immigrants in the United States, such as direct financial transfers, medical benefits, food assistance, and education, cost an estimated $100 billion dollars per year. That is a significant burden on citizens and legal residents. The promise of free money, free food, free education, and free medical care if you cross the border illegally is a powerful incentive for people to do so. It especially makes no sense for the United States government to provide these services to those who are not in the US legally.
The Washington Post reports that The Trump administration is considering a plan to weed out would-be immigrants who are likely to require public assistance, as well as to deport — when possible — immigrants already living in the United States who depend on taxpayer help, according to a draft executive order obtained by The Washington Post.
A second draft order under consideration calls for a substantial shake up in the system through which the United States administers immigrant and nonimmigrant visas overall, with the aim of tightly controlling who enters the country, and who can enter the workforce, and to reduce the social services burden on U.S. taxpayers.
The drafts are circulating among administration officials, and it is unclear whether President Trump has decided to move forward with them or when he might sign them if he does decide to put them in place.
While Trump’s immigration ban last week focused on national security and preventing terrorism, the new draft orders would be focused on Trump’s campaign promises to protect American workers and to create jobs, immediately restricting the flow of immigrants and temporary laborers into the U.S. workforce.
The administration has blamed immigrants who end up receiving U.S. social services for eating up federal resources, and it has said immigrant workers contribute to unemployment among Americans who were born in the United States.
“Our country’s immigration laws are designed to protect American taxpayers and promote immigrant self sufficiency. Yet households headed by aliens are much more likely than those headed by citizens to use Federal means-tested public benefits,” reads one draft order obtained by The Post, titled “Executive Order on Protecting Taxpayer Resources by Ensuring Our Immigration Laws Promote Accountability and Responsibility.” The draft order provides no evidence to support the claim that immigrant households are more likely to use welfare benefits, and there is no consensus among experts about immigration’s impact on such benefits or American jobs.
WaPo goes on to note that the administration would be seeking to “deny admission to any alien who is likely to become a public charge” and develop standards for “determining” whether an immigrant can be deported after five years if that person receives a certain amount of public assistance, including Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Medicaid.
The second order, titled “Executive Order on Protecting American Jobs and Workers by Strengthening the Integrity of Foreign Worker Visa Programs” calls for “eliminating” the “jobs magnet” that is driving illegal immigration to the United States, according to a copy obtained by The Post.
The order would rescind any work visa provisions for foreign nationals found not to be in “the national interest” or in violation of U.S. immigration laws.
Economists are divided on the extent to which illegal immigration impacts wages, but generally find that immigration is good for the economy, including the immigration of low-skilled workers.
“The unlawful employment of aliens has had a devastating impact on the wages and jobs of American workers, especially low-skilled, teenage, and African American and Hispanic workers,” the draft order says.
But the CATO Institute claims “when you compare poor immigrants to poor natives, poor immigrants are less likely to use welfare, and when they do, the dollar value of the benefits they use is lower,” and The Migration Policy Institute claims that “refugee men are employed at a higher rate than their U.S.-born peers.”
Bear in ind this is WaPo unsubstantiated reports and The White House would not confirm or deny the authenticity of the orders, and White House officials did not respond to requests for comment about the drafts on Monday and Tuesday.

My guess is that you & a bunch of others really don’t know how immigration process works. They are not funded by our government so they get it from the immigrate. Good you say? Let’s look at how they do this. 1 they are slow very slow. I know of a person who has spent the last 19yrs trying to become a citizen. 1thing a person has to do is fill out the forms. Lots of forms. They cost anywhere from 85.00 to over 650.00 each! And if the person made a mistake on them to included not signing you name with in the box or maybe you got the date wrong by 1 day off. Oh sorry you filled it out wrong. You can reapply. However you must pay for a new form . Yep they keep all the money you just pd. Remember there are lots & lots of forms. And each & every time you fill out a form you must get finger printed ,cost 85.00 So the person wants to do it right hire a lawyer ,cost round 6000.00 .If the lawyer does not get it right the person has to pay for that as well.Most of these people get a temare ss number so they can work however they pay in FICA but are not allowed to file for a refund because they are “temp”. Then comes the day that INS makes the decision if you get to stay.I know of a couple who has so far PD 1600.00 each only to be told uumm no but you can reapply & yep INS keeps all the money the couple has paved so far. They have a family & have done with out to go through this presses to becomes America citizen. You see its not that most immigrants don’t want to become citizens its that our government makes it to experience to do so. Its just a money making scram.

Vets and a lot of senior citizens are doing without, mostly medical care. Vets and seniors have served their purpose so they are expendable. My DH needs back surgery very bad and after going to several doctors and they kept pushing the can down the road in as much as when the surgery could be done one of them finally said “we can’t do surgery on you because of your age medicare isn’t going to allow it”. Even with the extra insurance, at the tune of 288.81 a month, it isn’t happening. Yes he is 81 but other then his back and BP he a pretty good old boy; so he is now spending much more time in bed then ever and hating every minute of it. Glad when it gets warmer as then I can move the lounge outside and he can enjoy the wildlife and birds.

We were bidding for some contract work with the Canadian government and kept getting low-balled: they wanted cheaper and cheaper day rates with no other costs covered. We did some research and found out they were proposing to pay our contractors LESS per month than they pay refugees to do nothing. The same garbage happens in the UK. All these governments are actually paying these immigrants and refugees more than they pay many of their workers.

Sarge and Anon, as individuals, we’re already on our own. According to certain federal and state supreme court rulings, protecting citizens is not part of a cop’s job description. Everyone in the system knows it but doesn’t dare admit to it. In any confrontation between myself and any POS, I have to become my own ‘first responder’ and handle it myself. You wisely identify many of the reasons for what is happening now. I have had many conversations with boomers whose eyes glaze over with joy when they talk about how beautiful it will be when we bring in more Muslims. They really do believe Muslims will save (and wipe) their butts in their last years. But, because of their failure to understand political Islam, they will be sorely disappointed. The math does not work on that: it is the reason why Muslim men have the highest rates of unemployment in Europe no matter how long they have been there. It is because you cannot keep a large family in the West on current incomes. So, they do the next best logical thing and not work and let the state pay for their children’s upkeep. Trust me, do the research: every Islamic country has very high male unemployment rates. This is because they over-produce horny young men who then can’t find the work that will pay for them to have large families. This is where you get the drift into terrorism (it pays and is exciting), the sex with boys (the norm), the rape of young girls (the norm).
Everything you point out and what the boomers believe in is about maintaining the status quo in economics. It is a failure to see that we can have both a higher standard of living and better quality of life and fewer people in the West. How can this be? Because we need to re-price the welfare and benefits system you mentioned: all those pay-out promises that are bankrupting the economy. At the same time we need to go all in on the latest science and technology to amplify our productivity and efficient use of resources. This means we can do things with young people we have (many of whom are wasting their lives playing video games). These kids need to be brought into a disciplined system that uses their time and talents well. As for healthcare for the elderly, the current medical system is a joke of pills and useless procedures to patch up people who do not eat well or exercise. Most of it is not using the latest in new scientific thinking on human health. Do that, and you will see costs come down year on year.
In the 21st century, the most valuable thing is software not hardware. If hardware was the advantage, then Nigeria would be the wealthiest country on the planet. Software in the West is culture: trust me, your average dips#t American youth is still a more productive and useful human being than most people in Muslim countries. 20+ years ago legal immigrants needed a business to sponsor them and they had to work there. If they quit their job early, they were deported. I had an immigrant friend at a wholesale textile warehouse who went through the sponsorship and earned his citizenship. There were no food stamps, welfare for them like there is now, and that was under Clinton of all things.
By leaking this, those dependent on government aid have a heads up and can begin preparing for the inevitable. As an American, I applaud the common sense. As one living near people who will be adversely affected, I feel compassion. These things ought never have happened. It is a real shitty situation for all concerned.

I (and family) immigrated here 25 years ago H1B visa, I was required to submit certified copies of all personal docs. Birth,(whole family) Marriage, Education, police report stating no criminal record no outstanding warrants, proof of income, proof of medical coverage (Not to be future burden on US taxpayers)
The consulate sent an official the the Law Firm I had to retain to do the certification to double check my credentials which they certified.
After arriving employer had to advertise my job in 6 major news papers for a week, if US citizen applied and was acceptable I was S.O.L. – bye bye fella
