A future mega-tsunami is in the United States East Coast’s future.  When and just how big this tsunami could get, are still unknown, however, some scientists think they can predict what might cause such an event to occur.

Based on the sheer number of volcanoes ready to collapse or activate in some way in the Atlantic Ocean makes some think that a mega-tsunami for the East Coast is closing in.

According to research done, which focuses on the Cumbre Vieja volcano in the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa, the volcano is nearing a collapse.  It continues to weaken, and at some point, it’s instability will see a chunk of the land mass still barely clinging on fall into the Atlantic Ocean.  The displacement of water would cause a devastating mega-tsunami to all but demolish the heavily populated East Coast of the United States.

According to the Abstract of the research done by Steven N. Ward with the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at the University of California, Santa Cruz and Simon Day, with Benfield Greig Hazard Research Centre, Department of Geological Sciences, University College, London, geological evidence suggests that during a future
eruption, Cumbre Vieja Volcano on the Island of La Palma may experience a catastrophic failure of its west flank.

This would cause the dropping of 150 to 500 cubic kilometers of rock into the sea. Using a geologically reasonable estimate of landslide motion, the researchers model tsunami waves produced by such a collapse. Waves generated by the run-out of a 500 km3 (150 km3) slide block at 100 m/s could transit the entire Atlantic Basin and arrive on the coasts of the Americas with 10-25 m (3-8 m) height.

So how does one prepare for a tsunami? Basically, you’ll need to get out of its way.  Preparing a way to quickly get away is going to be your first order of business.  Find several routes inland if possible in case certain ways become blocked and begin to move away from the coast as quickly as you can.  If you get caught in a traffic jam with other fleeing people, you will unlikely to make it in time.  You should also have many escape routes scouted out in case you get trapped.  Natural disasters often bring out the worst in some human beings and it will be important to be able to defend yourself if you need to.

A tsunami won’t last a very long time, thankfully, but if you return to a coastal home that no longer has power, you may need to rough it for awhile.  In that case, begin prepping by reading The Prepper’s Blueprint by Tess Pennington.  It’s a wonderfully done, easy to follow guide for those looking to begin preparing for any disaster but don’t know where to start.

      1. This Future Tsunami Could DESTROY The East Coast

        And the problem is…..?

        • Many of the Left on the West Coast would escape. 🙁

        • I wonder if the emergency alert system will be down for repairs that day.
          Stay quiet Be smart

        • I live in the Foothills of South Carolina, 980ft elevation. I’m very Conservative. If you check the electoral maps, you’ll find that South Carolina especially, and the balance of the East Coast, the coast line is predominately Democrat. The Upstate of the the states are typically more Republican. A major tsunami, while a real disaster, would simply cleanse the voter roles of Democrats and provide really good deals on fresh coastal property. The Republican base would be concentrated and you could be guaranteed no more Democratic votes to continue their attack on the country. I really don’t see this as a bad thing.

          • Hey Oren… 🙂

            Greetings from Walhalla.
Glad to see another local on the site.

            Y’all enjoy the evening.

        • The problem IS–have you ever seen a 25m wall of water that is 82 feet high coming at you? If you want to see the force of water just take a 4ft X 32′ above ground swimming pool and rupture the side wall. Then you will know first hand the destruction and force of it all.

      2. This is old news.

And, it is hype. The part of the Volcano that could slip into the ocean is not that big, etc.

This is a over-used hype story.

      3. Fascinating,
It’s been some time since I paid much attention thereto (El Hierro) I find it remarkable that THAT is becoming threatening just as Kileauea is throwing fits…
BI and I used to debate the Cumbre Viejo issue over and over again…but we typically considered that using a 20-50 cubic mile motive mass, and while that IS sizeable – to be sure – it pales into insignificance beside historic (likely pre-historic) off the flanks of Oahu and the main island also.
Try looking up the “Nu’uanu slide” which occured long ago and which split Oahu in half along it’s northern edge. The ‘slide’ which emanated there from was estimated (variously) to be not less than 10,000 cubic kilometers.
The relevance here? Go look up the “Hiliina slump” which lies along the South-eastern flank of the big island. In the opinions of ALL concerned were that to happen the result would be a Pacific basin mega-Tsunami which in the vicinity of the islands themselves would equal the Lituya bay event 5 decades ago.
Quite a bit beyond ‘Sobering’ IMHO…

        JOG

        • Just One Guy.

          Yup I know who. 🙂

          Miss y’all, and B.

Really enjoyed B’s research on the shaking.

Hope to see more comments from ya in the future.

      4. Geez… another calamity to add to the others……

      5. “Emergency, everyone to get from street”

        Alan Arkin

      6. I’m sure you meant to say 10 – 25 “ft”, right?

      7. La Palma has been known about for many years…

      8. Bye-bye DC and NY. A lot of problems solved.

        • Right on!

      9. I like the Russian sailors version better:

“Egermency, egermency, everyone get from the stereet.”

      10. Why are we talking about an east coast tsunami when the Hilina slump in Hawaii from the Kilauea volcano is currently a bigger threat to collapse and generate a tsunami to the west coast?

        • Maybe both at the same time while Yellowstone joins in.

      11. IN CASE SOME OF YOU HAVEN’T LEARNED WHAT HAS BEEN CAUSING THE VOLCANO AWAKENINGS AROUND THE WORLD, GOOGLE PLANET X & NIBIRU. THIS PLANET IS IN A 3657 YEAR ORBIT AROUND ITS SUN, NEMESIS, AND OURS. IT WAS DISCOVERED AND IN ALL THE NEWPAPERS IN 1983 THEN PROMPTLY DISAPPEARED—SEE ARTICLE;
        https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/weird-news/650381/nibiru-2017-news-update-planet-x-nasa-david-meade-dr-Robert-Harrington-rodney-marks
NIBIRU ENTERED OUR SOLAR SYSTEM IN 2003 AND HAS BEEN HUSHED UP BUT CLOSELY FOLLOWED SINCE. IT IS MOVING CLOCKWISE AROUND OUR SUN WHILE OUR PLANETS MOVE COUNTER CLOCKWISE. NIBIRU IS IN AN ORBIT INSIDE THAT OF EARTH’S AND THERE ARE A FEW PHOTOS SHOWING A GIANT ORB POSTED ON THE INTERNET. IT IS MUCH LARGER THAN OUR HOME PLANET SO IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT ITS SIZE AND MASS WILL HARM US GREATLY. AFTER ALL IS NOT QUITE HERE YET BUT IS THE CAUSE OF OUR VOLCANOES BECOMING ACTIVE OF LATE. LORD PLEASE HELP US ALL.

        • hahahahaha… shut the hell up…. brain damaged idiots like you are the only threat from your imaginary planet. As if only government could see a planet… you do know most discoveries in space are made by regular hobbyists right? Just shut up with your stupid nibiretard shit. howe many times can you relgous idiots be proven wrong and still accept “the date was off, its now coming…” GET A CLUE YOU IDIOT!!!!!!!!

          • m says, “you do know most discoveries in space are made by regular hobbyists right?”

Then, who is allowed to make a prediction.

      12. Lots of nuke plants located within a quarter mile of the Atlantic ocean on the east coast.

        • That is something to be concerned about. Unlikely they would be shut down safely before tsunami hit. Look what happened in Japan…

      13. If ten million Americans, fleeing west from this tsunami start at the same time as ten million Americans fleeing east to escape from an erupting Yellowstone, where would they meet? You probably got it. It’s the New Madrid fault line, which would probably be experiencing a 10.0 earthquake.

        • Boy, for some reason this made me laugh. Trying to envision those libs meeting up with flyover country people . . . .

      14. While I advise the utmost caution in setting dates, there are several longstanding predictions of a fragment, striking off Arecibo.

I think, if you ultimately disbelieve in astrology and suchlike, it is still a universal clock or point on a timeline, irrespective of all timezones.

Battles have reportedly been set to the moon and the seasons, and presumably, by some war-like sign. A secular materialist can use this as a means of synchronizing the clocks.

      15. Okay, Kids, enough bickering back and forth about imaginary planets and 100 ft tsunami’s. When and if any of this happens, do any of you HONESTLY think you can do anything about it? Worrying until you develop an ulcer isn’t going to keep you alive. When it happens, it happens. Game over. Deal with it. Just make sure you have enough cold beer and a front row seat to the end of the world.

      16. I quit fretting on things I cannot control a long time ago and focus on what I can control only !

Even if an outlier event happens it is a far better way to think and live daily for rather obvious reasons and outcomes ! Enjoy everyday as much as is possible and let others fret on meaningless shit ! If we die from an asteroid or volcano , so be it ! Better to have lived your life to the fullest each day and understand it all completely. No matter what we will all die one day won’t we ? So far better to realize our soul journey and enjoy each day with your head up.

      17. At a minimum, the experts say that an East Coast Tsunami would flood all land to at least 50-miles inland.

No matter how fortified and stocked your BOL is, you would have to head westward.

If by some miracle the waters did not reach you, you can of course return. Best be safe than watch and wait.

Look up what a Black Swan is and prepare accordingly.
