The Government Owns You: Nanny State Hawaii May Increase Smoking Age To 100

The state government in Hawaii wants to increase the smoking age to 100.  Although pretty much everyone on Earth knows smoking is damaging to a person’s overall health, the nanny state is taking it upon themselves to ban the use of more substances.

Nothing good can ever come from the government dictating to people what they are allowed to put in their bodies, and that includes smoking.  Are we free or not? Do we own ourselves or not? Governments assume they own us as tax cattle and therefore it’s their right to tell us how to live our lives.  Unfortunately, too many bow down to the whims of the state while others enforce these nanny state policies.

If this bill succeeds in becoming a law, it would effectively ban the use of cigarettes for a very vast majority of the Hawaiian population. The bill was proposed by Democrat Richard Creagan, an obvious authoritarian. Even if it does become a law, laws hinge only on the population’s willingness to abide by them, so it could be futile much like prohibition was. Not to mention worldwide smoking rates are plummeting to people voluntarily making the decision that it isn’t good for them. According to the BBC, Creagan, who was an emergency room physician before he was elected as state representative in 2014, calls the cigarette “the deadliest artifact in human history” in the bill.

The new bill, HB 1509, demands that the smoking age go up to 30 in 2020, 40 in 2021, 50 in 2022, and 60 in 2023. The last jump will take place in 2024 when people would need to be 100 years old to buy cigarettes. “We don’t allow people free access to opioids, for instance, or any prescription drugs,” Creagan said in defense of his tyrannical bill. And even though the government has banned opioids without a prescription, there’s an opioid addiction crisis lowering the life expectancy of Americans.  Prepare for a cigarette black market in Hawaii should Creagan get his way.

All nanny state policies including taxation beg the question: who owns you?

      1. Statists…who needs ’em.

        As Kevin2 says GTFOOH

        • Relik, look at the bright side, you will still be old enough to smoke lol. (just kiddin ya).

          • Genius, I really sympathize with Rellik and Nailbanger being stuck in a group of commie islands in the middle of the Pacific. It’s got to suck.

            • DR,
              Thanks for that thought.
              Hawaii is the closest thing
to a Banana republic you could
live in and still be in America.
That means there are not any rules
you can’t get around. No matter
              how many laws they pass.
Even if caught, you can count on
              forgiveness, before harshness.
The culture, and the lack of funds,
              encourages government people to back-off.
The people you mess with have
              family, friends, and business
with people you know, so it cuts down
on what you do as you know it will
              come back to haunt you.
              Non-Judicially.
It is clear, 85, and sunny today.
I have about #25 of over ripe bananas,
and a dozen old eggs (both produced by me)
to feed the pig and dogs.
Probably have eggs, homemade bread, and
              pork belly for dinner tonight.
I would not want to go back to WA or CA.

              • It’ll make for a profitable black market.

      2. In an age of discovery, when entrepreneurs wanted the elite to subsidize their shipping franchises, every new plant was supposed to be a miracle drug, in much the same way that we speak of mj. So, Jean Nicot (of nicotine fame) used it to cure cancer.

In (frost hardiness) zone 9, my cigar tobacco plants have survived into Feb. How are these shortages possible in the tropics.

The very first set of new leaves can be the size of a man’s torso, though I understand that these big ones are mainly used for wrappers. The preferred leaves for smoking would seem to be the littlest ones, which grow nearest to the flowering end of the stalk.

I am finding that some garden plants start to lose their shape, after a harvest, but never fully die if roots are left undisturbed — particularly, when they are not allowed to set seed. Lettuces, artichokes, Brussels sprouts, broccoli.. Cut top growth, back to the meristem, between the root and the stem. Favor just one bunch of new leaves.

The ones, which you have just cut off, may just take root in a moist medium. The stems and leaves of plants can become an entire row.

I have intended to use it for barter or for poor relatives. Many people consider it a home remedy, but I don’t even use it.

I have been on many work crews, where I was the only non-smoker. Everyone needed a break, constantly. I can have as much as I want, any time I want, and don’t have this problem. Why can’t people just take enough to be comfortable.

        • “who owns you?”

Where does it come from. Works with everything.

      3. It’s an instant opportunity for organized crime with far greater opportunity than either alcohol or marijuana. The addictive nature of nicotine, number of smokers and the overall lack of public resistance over its use guarantees a huge market and massive corruption. The secondary “benefit” is increased funding for the Police State and the opportunistic parasite attorneys.

        Yes its GTFOOH applicable.

        • Cigarettes will add a 4th life endangering health hazard, Cancer, Emphysema, Heart Disease and now gangland shooting. Miller and Budweiser don’t use violence that Al Capone and Bugs Moran did to maintain and increase market share during prohibition.

        • K2
“The secondary “benefit” is increased funding for the Police State and the opportunistic parasite attorneys.”
There is only about 1.45 million people in the entire state of Hawaii. Most are on Oahu. My island has about 200,000 people and is the poorest. Most all public services are paid for by local taxes( schools are state funded). We can barely afford existing taxes and fees. We can barely afford the cops we have. The ones we have don’t get paid very well and are overworked. I doubt that we have more than a 1/2 dozen lawyers involved in criminal law practice. There aren’t going to be more cops or lawyers to enforce this proposed law.
Most people here expend a lot of effort bypassing stupid laws passed by the Democrat overlords.
The ban will fail as have most every other ban they have enacted has failed.
I’m a non-smoker and I can get all the non-taxed tobacco I want from mainland contacts. Hawaii simply doesn’t have the resources to enforce the mountain of laws they have enacted. The Democrats depend on the law abiding citizen to be law obedient, but Democrats fail to understand that when you make everyone into criminals then what the heck?

          • Cant have laws without enforcement. They’re arresting people for dope and cigarettes, one of the most addictive is added to the list. More cops, more lawyers, more funds expended; guaranteed and with it more bribery and corruption.

      4. I think I’ll quit paying taxes until I turn 100.

      5. But….lets make pot legal! I don’t get it…maybe I shouldn’t because if I did… I would be a democrat.

        • Good point and yes they should. When it comes to personal behavior and laws go from Malum In Se to Malum Prohibitum, government becomes not a guardian of freedom but rather its enemy.

        • Both examples — pot and tobacco — would have stringent market controls.

Without paying the duty on tobacco, it is still subject to melodramatic raids. (Helping Eric Garner’s lung health.)

      6. Hawaii seems to want to copy the failed state of Kalifornia. Did you see the Hawaii Senator, Crazy Mazy, not applauding anything mentioned by the President in the State of the Union address. Any normal human would have heard something to applaud.

These leftist-socialists want to bring their brand of tyranny to your state.

        • All T conspiracy theories aside (Cyrus, Tesla, Freemasonry, Apollo fetishism, etc, etc, etc), the SOTU was mostly generic kind-of stuff, that noone could argue against.

But, why is the (partial) wall needed; you lauded the employment of our replacements.

Repeatedly, we were told about the progress made by womyn and alien cultures.

Not about restoring the single wage earner household.

Why isn’t patriarchy prioritized, ahead of maternity leave.

          https://www.redstate.com/alexparker/2019/01/31/kathy-tran-infant-murder-abortion-cankerworm-house-bill-2495/

I don’t even see how some of these disagreements are political — particularly, when involving such irreducibly simple concepts as Water, a physical barrier, innocent life, an agricultural pest. (Canker, cankers, cankered… is a Biblical plague in your Concordances, free online.)

In the Democratic rebuttal (if that really happened) noone has demanded charity under force of arms, as the Socialists do. He needed that coat to support his own family, and the cost of a new one would take food out of their mouths. (If that really happened.) We had to read morals like these, in the compulsory school system. What did that prepare us for, literally.

      7. ht tps://www.google.com/url?q=http://health.hawaii.gov/opppd/files/2016/10/HB2466-ACT-086-SLH-2016-Cigarette-Tax-Revenue-Report.pdf

This is Hawaii’s justification. In 2018-2019, Hawaii’s Department of Tax Revenue estimates $109 million gained through taxes on tobacco products BUT an annual healthcare cost of $336 million lost directly related to smoking.I gather they don’t like losing $227 miillion each year. Also as there is a decline in cigarette consumption, the estimated cigarette revenue is $106 million, yet they presume continued long term lung damage to persist.

Of course that means Hawaii will look for new revenue sources to make up for the $109 million shortfall.

Obamacare meant that the states bore some burden for those on Medicare and Medicaid plus whatever the federal subsidies that Obama illegal created from thin air that was unbudgeted to support Obamacare.

These effects are putting pressure on the sale and use of cigarettes. And we do not know the long term effects of vaping.

You know, it really makes no sense to inhale any foreign substances like tobacco smoke or tobaco vapor as it will just block the alveoli of the lungs and reduce the gas exchange of carbon dioxide out and oxygen in.

Government mandated healthcare has wide reaching economic effects as if the state is paying for part of the tab, then the state then can intrude in your lives.

        • Mara,
          your link doesn’t work.
However I serious doubt the state of Hawaii pays “an annual healthcare cost of $336 million lost directly related to smoking.”
as they don’t pay much for medical directly. I would not trust any Hawaii government publication, as there is no oversight. This is a single party state that only hires like minded Democrats, everyone of them is a liar. It is OK to lie to protect the Party line.
I’ll restate, I’m a non-smoker, I see this as a personal freedom issue. If the government can dictate your habits, based on dreamed up medical costs, then these same Bas_tards will have everyone in the streets every morning doing exercises, eating a prescribed daily diet, walking, and bicycling to work from their assigned worker housing.

          • ht tp://health.hawaii.gov/opppd/files/2016/10/HB2466-ACT-086-SLH-2016-Cigarette-Tax-Revenue-Report.pdf

            This works.

            • Mara,
              It does work.
              “In Hawaii, it
claims 1,200 lives each year and creates $336 million in annual healthcare costs directly attributed to smoking”
Is not sourced, so no thinking person should believe it.

I do agree smoking is very bad for you, but that is your
choice. Most smokers also practice several other
un-healthy habits. I strongly suspect that has not been
explored as it takes thinking rather than preaching.
I’m an old man and I have known a lot of people that have died.
I never knew a person that died solely from a cancer due to smoking.

              • Rellik, agreed about this being an issue of personal freedom. I can speak with some authority on smoking. I lit up my first smoke when I was only 14 but I kicked the habit back in 2005. I’ve been feeling damn good ever since. I’m also sick of libturds and their BS.

          • shh, Don’t give them ideas!!!.

      8. Imagine this future due to government healthcare that is subsidized if everyone was either on Medicaid or Medicare.

Medicaid was formerly for a small segment who were impoverished and typically indigent and or handicapped. Medicare was formerly just for retirees.

If crazy Democrats who are actually just socialists and Marxists get their way, then everyone will fit into these categories. Now these have very low reimbursement for physicians where sometimes a physician gets ten cents on the dollar ie 10% reimbursement for Medicaid. And for Medicare, he/she might get 75-85% reimbursement.

Well, if you were a plumber and your clients paid you a fraction of their bills, will you continue to be a plumber or start a new business? My guess is the latter. Thus many physicians will just quit and we will have terrible physician shortages just as we have had in nursing since the seventies.

In medicine, there are several issues that result in eventual high medical care costs.

        1. Obesity causes respiratory, circulatory, orthopedic, immunology, endocrine, nephrotic, reproductive, aesthesia, surgical, dermatology, etc issues.

        2. Early detection does not typically occur, but if it did, then a serious reduction in cost is likely.

        3. STD infection rates are typically unknown…just estimated. Thus the infected…keep infecting as they are reservoirs of the pathogen.

In order to save money, states like Hawaii, and one would suppose…places like Florida which has many retirees, could begin bizarre programs to cut healthcare costs by the state.

So exercise could be mandated and foods and beverages could be restricted. Mandatory testing for a battery of the most expensive issues would likely happen. Mandatory STD testing would occur.

        • Early testing sounds great, right? Most everyone would like to know if they are going to get cancer or heart disease. If you get red flagged as having a propensity to have cancer, then will they then restrict you in any way? Will the state then demand that as a condition of them paying for some of your healthcare, then you cannot eat certain foods or do certain activities as they may exacerbate your latent cancer?

Since mental illness is a major aspect of healthcare and costs, will young people be labeled “prone to depression, mood disorders, schizophrenia, etc” even before these folks actually display any symptoms? Will that result in stigma as the “potentially mentally ill” ?

Will people be rejected for certain occupations because they may at some point in their lives have a disease or mental illness, and thus be disqualified from that occupation?

If STD testing is mandated, and you are infected, will you be forced to wear an indication of your active STD infection?

          • What would happen is a large drop in physicians when we need more physicians as a much greater segment is automatically guven health insurance.

America would have a caste system based on potential illness.

America would have a caste system based on current STD status and some are lifelong like HIV/AIDS and Herpes. It would be unlikely anyone other than similarly infected people would marry each other.

American businesses like tobacco, distilleries, bakeries, groceries would have far less customers. Prepared food companies would go out of business. Candy manufacturing would fall off to nothing. Meat consumption would decline.

        • m says, “STD infection rates are typically unknown…”

People, talking to me, in confidence, are saying that they and their (uninfected!) partners are fully aware and taking a calculated risk, btw.

Freedom is dangerous. Part of self-ownership is doing something, knowing, full wel1, that no good can come of it.

      9. Making it illegal means they can make more money off of it. The price of tobacco will go through the roof.

      10. The ramifications are staggering.

Massive unemployment would occur in these occupations which would mean even more people would be on Medicaid.

The state does not magically have money to pay for Medicaid and Medicare, so they would have to RAISE taxes elsewhere to compensate. Certainly real estate would see tax increases and make that even more unaffordable. Takes on MJ and fuel would certainly happen and these all are disproportionate taxes on the poor and middle class.

        Tax increases would create unemployment.

Meanwhile more government employees would be needed to monitor and service patients using these additions to Medicaid and Medicare.

With less physicians, more nurses would QUIT as more responsibility would be required.

        • If the SJWs take over, you no longer will be paid. The money will go directly to the local, state, and federal government where they will argue about who gets how much. And the government will pay you in services while they utterly control your lives. It is likely they will regulate your diet, your beverages, your activities, your intimate activites, your expression of spiritual and political beliefs.

If you thought Soviet Russia was bad in 1950 with gulags, Buddy it can be far worse.

          • There will be no currency. You will get social credits through services and resisters will be institutionalized indefinitely as happened in the USSR.

The SJWs have just reinvented gulags and permanent mental patients. If you say anything which disagrees, you are guilty of thought crime and are a subversive. Subversives would get less social credits even if it means starvation. That is what happens in North Korea.

Every outrage that ANTIFA currently does to foster a SJW utopia would enslave and institutionalize them! It’s the ultimate irony.

            • Maranatha, my wife and her surviving family lived through the first few years of Fidel Castro’s brand of socialism in Cuba so I know from where you speak. Am I guilty of any ‘thought crimes’? Depends on the definition of that term although I don’t recognize the concept. Am I a subversive? Not at this time but I can definitely become one if given enough reasons to do so.

      11. By passing so many laws it makes it possible to put anyone into prison easily.

Straight tobacco is not that unhealthy. It is all the added chemicals that kill. Grow your own tobacco along with your bud. Ha ha. Get the last laugh.

        .

      12. 30-2sPGNGEw
This is what happens in North Korea where if you are a subversive, yu are sent to eek out a living in a famine zone and slowly starve to death.

        s_trSJf7Zec
If you are guilty of thought crime by being a Christian and thus defying the authority of the government, your whole family is sent to a labor camp where you either are raped, beaten, starved, worked to death, or executed. It is the worst place in the world to be a Christian that far exceeds anything in Islam.

        • I think that most of the Bible would be illegal to practice, literally, and that the 501c3’s are akin to the Red Chinese state church. Worship anything you want, except put Caesar in the center of your pantheon of idols.

Legitimately-unlikable, undeserving people are put in jail, here, real criminals. And, they’re saying that inhumane treatment happens, here — whether I like them, or not.

I think, real, undeniable Apostolics would be the most hated. They are knowable from street magicians and vain life-coaching, because, in real life, that causes psychological shock. On the level, plain, square, embellished talk is shocking, to most. But, an Enoch or Elijah would be Bedlam. If you lived by the Torah, or say, the book of Acts — as clean as you can be, like those who preach to live a holy life — I bet, you would go straight to jail, right here and now.

      13. I don’t smoke. I love kissing pretty ladies and actually quit dating one pretty girl because she smoked. That doesn’t mean I think smokers should pay a penalty.

But I think leftists are morons who expect free things from the government are actually free.

If I spend 100 dollars, then I get 100 dollars worth of stuff.

When I give the government 100 dollars, they take a cut at the federal, state, and local level…then give me something I don’t want and don’t need and didn’t ask for and it’s a tiny fraction of that 100 dollars so it is a BAD DEAL!

What is remarkable is the Democrats allegedly are for states’ rights yet now they are 180 degrees out and desire federalism??? WTF.

The Democrats act like they know better and are doing me a favor by choosing what is best for me. How weird. That is a violation of the very principle of liberty and free will!

        • I agree with Hal Lindsey, when he said that both parties are on the same road, one at 100mph, one at 50.

I don’t have any rights to take away from anyone, per se, nor any unsolicited services, which demand payment.

        • “I think leftists are morons who expect free things from the government are actually free.” Maranatha, you sound like we could be related. In earlier times I actually had some pity for liberals and tried not to be so harsh about them. Not these days. I have a hatred for them that I’m not sure will ever know any limits, if you get my drift. But yes, leftists are truly morons.

          • In the “Gangs of New York” (not strictly historical) services like the Fire Dept used to be private. And, they dodge a draft.

imho, the D’s ad R’s are both expecting something for “free”, just disagree as to what.

      14. Only cigarettes, to eliminate butts on beaches.

        I say cudos!
        No different then dry counties.

      15. Yeah right, and tell me all about how the reduced medical issues will make up for the reduced taxes. “It will be a few years before the reduction of cigarette related illness begins to lessen the states burden. So, in the meantime, we will add a 10% tax on your grochery bill until we fill like we can live without it”.

Someone throw this guy in shark invested waters.

What’s next? Alcohol. Fast food. Fast cars. Etc. Then they’ll probably legalize pot. We my as well hope for ww3 and take our chances.

      17. When you get into your sixties, the world should cut you some slack. Prostate problems, balding, problems with your health and teeth. You should be allowed to smoke and drink whatever you want! Too many young people making the laws who don’t know what getting old is like.

      18. What other bizarre bs has this guy come up with?

      19. Smoking cigs is a rich persons habit. They are almost $10 a pack here. Smell like shit too. Only fools smoke cigs. they should be $100 a pack. People don’t have have to pay the price just stop smoking but they never stop.

      20. This guy studied psychology also. Figures because he’s a walking red flag.

      21. Bring a smoker myself I know all about taxes and restrictions lol. I just bought a pack of 25 king-size cigarettes 17.60 Canadian. Or I can go to the reservation and get them for 8.00. so yes the black market will flourish.
Relik have you considered moving to the mainland ????

      22. Children in public school get about 1520 hours of leftist instruction. That is why a typical American young person is a liberal! They are bombarded by heresy and malevolent immoral ideas!

Never hate them as you cannot do evangelism and youth ministry using hate. It will not work as hate is the opposite of YAHWEH and thus hate is a tool of Lucifer (Helel ben Shahar).

Do you see how that works? Lucifer is the Father of Lies, and if you hate your brother, but say you love the ELOHIM, then this passage says you are liar.

        Love Comes from God
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love him, because he first loved us. 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
        1 John 4:7-21

What you feel is righteous indignation. You know what is moral and good and are a Christian, thus you feel indignant.

Indignation is annoyance as it is unfair ie unjust.

Evangelism is seeing the goodness of YAHWEH’s creation in all. It is the potential to persuade them to accept salvation. You don’t want to be treated according to your many sins, and you don’t want them to be treated according to their sins…either.

        That is agape love.

        • These poor kids have had 18,240 hours of leftist instruction that an evangelist tries to overcome. 12 years of crap filling their brains.

Talk about a herculean task. It’s like the story where Hercules is mocked by being led to a stable with 1,000 cows that had not been cleaned of crap for 30 years! It was a horrible wretched foul job! And he had to do it in a single day!

So he diverted a river to flood out that CRAP. That is what I am doing. I am sluicing away mountains of crap from crazy nonBiblical ideas.

      23. In 1965, Tobacco executives LIED to Congress boldly stating nicotine is NOT addictive. No one was punished for those lies, and ever since, 450,000 people DIE each year from tobacco caused diseases.

How many people have each of you LOST to these lies and those deaths?

Now the same bullcrap lies are being espoused about Marijuana for which no clinical studies exist because Federal Law prohibits such studies.

This Doctor stares into the face of Death every shift he works. He knows the human costs, the societal costs, and the costs to families’ pain, diseases, suffering, and deaths caused by nicotine-infused tobacco.

Yes, cigarette companies put more nicotine in the tobacco than naturally found within analogous to genetically re-engineered THC whose original NATURAL potency went from 5%-8% to anywhere from between 22% to 33%!

If you don’t like it, have your ADDICTION in any of the other 49 States, no one is stopping you.

In the meantime, recognize the facts.

      24. I like Cuban people that become Americans. Some of the refugees I helped were Cubans. We gave them practical things that were not being used and just were sitting in basements, attics, and garages. That meant they had extra currency to devout to getting a car and car insurance and education.

They were great friends and I loved having dinner with them and hosting them at my house.

If we would all just work together using old school American and Christian principles, then the Republic would be a utopia. This is not hard, just endless work, but it’s like a barn-raisin’. Get started and roll your sleeves up. There is plenty of work to do.

Being a Christian is not so much what you believe as what you do. What you belueve immediately is put in sincere practice.

After doing that over sixty years, I’m a little tuckered out like an old pencil stub worn down to nothin’.

        • to devote to

          • Wow , longest one yet. Keep up the great work.

            • When you post a comment, I don’t get that you actually know anything. You demonstrate no skills, no ideas, no wisdom, no insight.

              Basically…you’re just a scared rabbit.

I feel pity when I read your posts.

What a huge waste of time when you could actually contribute, and barring that, actually learn something useful.

You are threatened by Jesus! Do you know how cowardly that sounds?

              • Was giving you a compliment,
What happened to thou shalt not judge?.
                Forgive 77×7 ?
Keep.your alms in secret so that your lord sees you.
For those that stand on the street corner in public have thier reward. ( Is this you?)
Lol I’ve actually read the Bible my entire life. Even made a handwritten copy in calligraphy bound in sheep skin. As a future wedding gift for my daughter.
So I can trade quotes with you all day.
                I just choose to keep.it on the downlow;
There are many good folks in here that appreciate a well placed verse.
But wall after wall? It’s a bit much.
Especially when we come here to trade ideas and experiences for survival after shtf. ????.

                • I bet a dollar to a doughnut, that I have posted more practical tips in the last year on this site than anyone.

I do both, not either or.

Christianity is practical. It ain’t naval gazing. It ain’t going “Ommm”.

      25. I had zero temptation to smoke when growing up. The people smoking on the way to school were typically not the sharpest tools in the shed. To me it was a waste of money amd smelled bad.

My great-grampa on rare occasions smoked a pipe which had a very pleasant smell.

Years and years later, I tried it and thought is was dumb. I can remember ask why they didn’t just smoke wacky tobaccky instead. There surely was no shortage of that in rural Kentucky.

In grad school, over and over they talked about the harmful effect, but in all those cases, it was out of control addiction that was the issue.

If you just smoked a tiny amount like two cigarettes a week, it probably would do nothing. But people lack discipline these days. I don’t really understand why anyone would smoke as there was nothing to it which produces any enjoyment.

      26. I am Not Ashamed of the Gospel
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the J ew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
        Romans 1:16-17

        Take Up Your Cross
        (Matthew 10:37-39; Matthew 16:24-28; Mark 8:34-38)
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
        Luke 9:23-27

Way to twist the Gospel and take it out of context.

        Read it.
        Learn it.
        Say it.
        Do it.

There is nothing in the Bible about hiding it.

In fact Jesus condemns those who hide it.

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
        Matthew 5:13-16

Get with the program. And I mean that in the kindest way possible.

      27. If there is anyone who wants to quit smoking, the old redneck Kentucky way is to chew rubber bands. Be warned though. If you chew a rubber band, and then smoke a cigarette, oh mercy, it will make you powerfully nauseous. You keep that aversion therapy up, and just lookin’ at a cigarette will make you hurl.

I purt near guarantee that you will quit smoking, but I warned you.

Save up your money. A pretty gal who quits smoking, deserves to get a few very expensive dresses, because the most addicting substance, exceeding the difficulty of heroin-is tobacco. You can look that up.

      28. I LOVE IT. The Democrats are falling apart because so many wore blackface and it’s coming out.

I don’t know how anyone can watch “The View” but here is Joy Behar in blackface.

        ht tps://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/photo-of-joy-behar-dressed-as-beautiful-african-woman

Kimmel and Fallon BOTH wore blackface.
        ht tps://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/kimmel-fallon-avoid-ralph-northam-controversy-in-monologues-both-have-histories-using-blackface-in-skits

Billy Crystal wore blackface on several occasions.

        X6WHBO_Qc-Q
Remember this Robert Downey Jr. “never go full retard skit”?

Well the Democrats went full retard then call Republicans racists!

        • ht tps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariane_Pearl
Angelina Jolie played Mariah Pearl who is partially an Afro/Chinese/Cuban/Hebrew and darkened her skin…ie BLACKFACE.

I love it. We should hammer this home.

I could probably name 20 times Hollyweird leftist actors did this.

      29. HD__r66sFjk
Here is what 30 packs of cigarettes do to accumulate tar and particulates.

Ten years of smoking a pack a day costs about $23,000.

        ps2x2KKENe0
        Healthy lungs versus smokers’ lungs

If you taper off and let your natural dust cells and mucus clear your lungs, some benefit is gained BUT some scar tissue will remain and loss of alveoli.

Even if only smoking MJ, this still acculates particulates. And unless you grow either tobacco or MJ, you have little control of additives. Additives are KNOWN to enhance addition.

If is extremely difficult to quit as tobacco is about the most addictive drug known.

The goal should be modest and incremental not cold turkey which almost never works.

You may be healthy now, but generally cigarette smokers have a LENGTHY and CUMULATIVE number of health issues as respiration is impairedand thus insufficient carbon dioxide is getting exhaled and insufficient oxygen is being inhaled.

That is dangerous as your body despirately needs oxygen and the mitochondria need oxygen for oxidatve phosphoration to make ATP. That is the primary source of energy for the body to do work. Smoking makes you feel out of gas. And it damages the lungs so later, even when you are forced to quit, you no longer can get adequate oxygen.

This means you WILL eventually be tied to an oxygen canister and have difficulty breathing.

        Taper off.

The people who meet in a group and taper off and who use some method like the patch have the greatest success.

If you do try chewing rubber bands, it will make you so miserable and nauseated, that it makes it easier to quit.

      30. 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. 14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.
        Philippians 4:13-14

Every aspect of this man’s life is limited by COPD. His daily activities, just walking up the stairs, romantic intimacy, sleeping, etc are all limited. He has to constantly carry a device to help him breath and sleeps with oxygen assistance.

Taper off while you still can.

A long time ago, people didn’t wear seat belts becasue they were annoying. And I was annoyed to wear one too. And then one day, my very young daughter said, “Papa if you die, won’t I be an orphan?”.

Well, I always wore seat belts after that.

It’s annoying to taper off smoking but you don’t want to miss out on seeing your grandbabies, do you?
