If you want to figure out what is going to happen next in the financial markets, carefully watch what the insiders are doing. Those that are “connected” have access to far better sources of information than the rest of us have, and if they hear that something big is coming up they will often make very significant moves with their money in anticipation of what is about to happen. Right now, Wall Street insiders and central banks all around the globe are making some very unusual moves. In fact, they appear to be rapidly preparing for something really big. So exactly what are they up to? In a previous article entitled “Are The Government And The Big Banks Quietly Preparing For An Imminent Financial Collapse?“, I speculated that they may be preparing for a financial meltdown of some sort. As I noted in that article,more than 600 banking executives have resigned from their positions over the past 12 months, and I have been personally told that a substantial number of Wall Street bankers have been shopping for “prepper properties” this summer. But now even more evidence has emerged that quiet preparations are being made for an imminent financial collapse. That doesn’t guarantee that something will happen or won’t happen. Like any good detective, we are gathering clues and trying to figure out what the evidence is telling us.
Why Is George Soros Selling So Much Stock And Buying So Much Gold?
I am certainly not a fan of George Soros. He has funneled millions upon millions of dollars into organizations that are trying to take America in the exact wrong direction.
However, I do recognize that he is extremely well connected in the financial world. Soros is almost always ahead of the curve on financial matters, and if something big is going to go down George Soros is probably going to know about it ahead of time.
That is why it is very alarming that he has dumped all of his banking stocks and that he is massively hoarding gold. The following is from shtfplan.com….
In a harbinger of what may be coming our way in the Fall of 2012, billionaire financier George Soros has sold all of his equity positions in major financial stocks according to a 13-F report filed with the SEC for the quarter ending June 30, 2012.
Soros, who manages funds through various accounts in the US and the Cayman Islands, has reportedly unloaded over one million shares of stock in financial companies and banks that include Citigroup (420,000 shares), JP Morgan (701,400 shares) and Goldman Sachs (120,000 shares). The total value of the stock sales amounts to nearly $50 million.
What’s equally as interesting as his sale of major financials is where Soros has shifted his money. At the same time he was selling bank stocks, he was acquiring some 884,000 shares (approx. $130 million) of Gold via the SPDR Gold Trust.
Why would you dump over a million shares of stock in major banks and purchase more than 100 million dollars worth of gold?
Well, it would make perfect sense if you believed that a collapse of the financial system was about to happen.
Earlier this year, George Soros told the following to Newsweek….
“I am not here to cheer you up. The situation is about as serious and difficult as I’ve experienced in my career,” Soros tells Newsweek. “We are facing an extremely difficult time, comparable in many ways to the 1930s, the Great Depression. We are facing now a general retrenchment in the developed world, which threatens to put us in a decade of more stagnation, or worse. The best-case scenario is a deflationary environment. The worst-case scenario is a collapse of the financial system.”
It looks like he is putting his money where his mouth is.
Perhaps even more disturbing is what he believes is coming after the financial collapse….
As anger rises, riots on the streets of American cities are inevitable. “Yes, yes, yes,” he says, almost gleefully. The response to the unrest could be more damaging than the violence itself. “It will be an excuse for cracking down and using strong-arm tactics to maintain law and order, which, carried to an extreme, could bring about a repressive political system, a society where individual liberty is much more constrained, which would be a break with the tradition of the United States.”
That doesn’t sound good.
George Soros has told us what he believes is going to happen, and now he is making moves with his money that indicate that he is convinced that it is actually about to start happening.
But he is not the only one that has been busy accumulating gold.
Billionaire John Paulson (the one that made 20 billion dollars on the subprime mortgage meltdown) has been buying gold like crazy and his company now “has 44 percent of its $24 billion fund exposed to bullion.”
So why are Soros and Paulson buying up so much gold?
Central Banks Are Also Hoarding Gold
According to the World Gold Council, the amount of gold bought by the central banks of the world absolutely soared during the second quarter of 2012. The 157.5 metric tons of gold bought by the central banks of the world last quarter was an increase of 62.9 percent from the first quarter of 2012 and a 137.9 percent increase from the second quarter of 2011.
Prior to 2009, the central banks of the world had been net sellers of gold for about two decades. But now that has totally changed, and last quarter central banks stocked up on gold in quantities that we have not seen before….
At 157.5 metric tons, gold buying among central banks came in at its highest quarterly level since the sector became a net buyer of the precious metal in the second quarter of 2009, data in the organization’s quarterly Gold Demand Trends report show.
So why have the central banks of the world become such gold bugs?
Is there something they aren’t telling us?
Rampant Insider Selling
Wall Street insiders have been dumping a whole lot of stock this year.
In my previous article, I linked to a CNN article from back in April….
First quarter earnings have been decent, if not spectacular. And many corporate executives are issuing cautiously optimistic guidance for the rest of the year.
But while insiders’ lips are saying one thing, their wallets are saying another. The level of insider selling among S&P 500 (SPX) companies is the highest in nearly 10 years. That is not good.
A lot of insiders appear to be getting out at the top of the market while the getting is still good.
Other insiders appear to be bailing out before the bottom falls out from beneath them.
Just check out what has been happening to Facebook stock. It hit another new record low on Thursday as insiders dumped stock. The following is from a CNN article….
Facebook’s life as a public company has been a nightmare from day one, and the pain continued on Thursday as some company insiders got their first chance to dump shares.
Facebook stock hit a new intra-day low of $19.69 Thursday morning, and ended the day 6.3% lower at $19.87.
Sadly, Facebook has now lost close to half of its value since the IPO.
Will Facebook end up being the poster child for the irrational stock market bubble that we have seen over the past couple of years?
Overall, retail investors have been very busy pulling money out of stocks in recent weeks.
The following are the net inflows to equity funds over the past five weeks (in millions of dollars) according to ICI….

8/1/2012: -6,866
8/8/2012: -3,684
According to the figures above, more than 10 billion dollars has been pulled out of equity funds over the past two weeks alone.
So does this mean anything?
Maybe.
Maybe not.
But it is very interesting and it bears watching.
Why Does The U.S. Government Need So Much Ammunition?
In my previous article, I also noted that the U.S. government appears to be very rapidly making preparations for something really big.
This week, it was revealed that the Social Security Administration plans to buy 174,000 hollow point bullets which will be delivered to 41 different locations all over America.
Now why in the world does the Social Security Administration need 174,000 bullets?
And why do they need hollow point bullets? Those bullets are designed to cause as much damage to internal organs as possible.
But of course this is only the latest in a series of very large purchases of ammunition by U.S. government agencies. The following is from a recent article by Paul Joseph Watson….
Back in March, Homeland Security purchased 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets that are designed to expand upon entry and cause maximum organ damage, prompting questions as to why the DHS needed such a large amount of powerful bullets merely for training purposes.
This was followed by another DHS solicitation asking for a further 750 million rounds of assorted bullets, including 357 mag rounds that are able to penetrate walls.
Now why in the world would the government need over a billion rounds of ammunition?
If it was the U.S. military I could understand this. You can burn through a whole lot of ammunition fighting wars.
But this makes no sense – unless they believe that big trouble is coming.
Personally, I wouldn’t blame them for getting prepared. Our economy continues to fall apart and there are signs of social decayeverywhere around us.
The American people are more frustrated and more angry than at any other time in modern history. This upcoming election is only going to cause Americans to become even more angry and even more divided.
All it would take is just the right “spark” to cause this country to erupt.
It could be the upcoming election.
It could be the collapse of the financial system.
Or it might be something else.
But the conditions are definitely there for it to happen.
Unfortunately, the American public is never told to prepare because authorities never want “to panic” the general population.
We are always the last to know, and that stinks.
So don’t wait for someone to come on the television and announce that a crisis is happening.
If you wait that long, it will be too late.
Instead, open up your eyes and think for yourself.
We all need to work hard to get prepared for the coming crisis while we still can.
As you can see, Wall Street insiders, the U.S. government and the central banks of the world are busy getting prepared.

1st; Soros is making moves to influence a bull run. If others follow him to paper gold (the price rise has already started) when the price gets high enough, he’ll dump quickly. Taking others investments, making a killing in prophets and then watching all those that jumped in lose as the prices crash.
Collapse? Soros and the banks are the puppet masters of the collapse. I believe, that which is happening, is a last ditch effort (of the financial elite) to lessen the amount of wealth in our hands and increase the number of those in debt.
Talked with a nonprepper yesterday concerning much of what we have been reading here the past 2 weeks. He actually said “what can you do?”. I shared that we are losing our liberties/freedom. Again, he says “If I loose mine so is everybody else.”. This is a 50 year old and a vet.
Asked him if he’d fight to protect his daughter if leo’s came to take her away (Germany, Russia,and China had this happen)? No, he’d fight them in court. Living to fight another day.
My point: people can’t get it through their heads; we loose at that point. If there is nothing worth dying for then there isn’t anything worth living for either.
@ DRD5508,,,I had the exact opposite experience. A guy I’ve been trying to wake up for a year, read about the National Weather Service, Social Security, ASDA and the Homies buying all that ammo. He called me to accompany him to a gun shop. He came out with an excellent assault rifle, ammo and spare mags. This guy is a combat veteran and will be a real asset now. No joke, I spent a full year talking to him, and the internet convinced him.

Actually I’m one of the good guys, but I’ve been thinking in some of those terms, IE got out of debt, and purchased what I could afford in PMs. Those of us who can afford it should do what they can to get into the metals, and get debts paid off. The better one’s personal financial position, the better one will weather the storm.

Commandeer the TV stations, and the radio stations, and start broadcasting the truth of what is happening on every channel or station. The People can handle the truth, but they must know what it is. Let them know what is at stake if the corp is allowed to come into YOUR city, and ask that the come down to help out.
Don’t initiate violence, but respond to it if initiated against your group.
I fear the time is drawing near. We must have a plan. They sure do.

Anon and GC, the plan is a good one. The GC plan will/would work if followed through, because we’d be on the offense and they’d be on the defense. The only problem will still be the unlawful hordes and gangs.

I would need to go to the sheriff’s office with hundreds, because if I went alone to try to convince them to honor their oaths, I’d be shot on sight. Because of my activism, over two decades, I’m well known to every level of law enforcement. My only claim to popularity is the amount of time and resources law enforcement spends keeping tabs on me. Most, hate my guts. (I get misty just thinking about it!) Still, I’ll do my duty when the Call comes. Good of you to put into print what I feel MUST be done.

Second, DK still insists that nothing is going to happen if we just sit tight and wait for them to come. While he may have a good Sheriff, most counties do not. They have sold out and become militarized in preparation for fighting us if we revolt against it’s military toy supplier. The last thing we need is good people lining up to support the enemy through being deputized by compromised Sheriffs.

Yes, the banks can be broken through mass nonpayment and I believe we would be far better off if we did that than to wait for them to do it to US on their timeline. The banks were not in a crisis in 2008. The PTB were not ready to collapse the system because we are still heavily armed. Why the pretend crisis? I do not advocate going in and shooting the Sheriff. The arms are a show of support should he choose to defend the people against a foreign invader. If they choose not to, then they need to be removed from office forcefully and incarcerated for their crimes against the Constitution until the people are able to restore order on their own. Ranger, if you remember a few months back I mentioned recovering some funds wrongfully taken under an IRS levy through Praecipes to the Clerk of Court.
I am finally able to see well enough (chalazions suck) to work on them and my papers are very near completion. That project is now my top priority. They will likely be mailed within the next 3 to 4 weeks(or sooner). Results should be made known within 30 days thereafter.

I agree with so much of what you’re saying, but whats been running through my mind and many who are of a like mind, is what to actually do. This armchair warrior stuff is all great, but, the pen is not really mightier than the sword (or gun) as the case may be. We have to find, physically who we are of a like mind, stand and be accounted for, at least to each other, to carry out any such plans. We must rally these forces now and prepare and make plans. However, finding enough people who will stop being complaisent and beleive this is serious enough to warrent action, and then actually get people to ACTION. Basically no one knows what to do because this has never happened to us. It’s shocking and difficult to wrap ones brain around, and frankley there are a lot of people hoping something or someone will intervene; like maybe the secret services that Kennedy put into motion to counter a rogue government, or the other institutions who are in place to counter a rogue president, or God, or Jesus, or aliens, anything because we just don’t really know how to go about doing this. We’ve been in a ‘slow crash’ for many years (99) and goes like this: something happens to cause prices to go up and our standard of living goes down a little. We get use to this ‘new normal’ until the next event where we slide down just a little more again, and again we accept this new normal and hope it doesn’t happen again. Once in a while these events are big like the great depression or to a lesser extent, the 2007-2008 mini-crash, but most are smaller ones like the oil embargos. But it does happen again and each event is different than the last so we think that this is a one time event and we never make the connection with all the other events to see the pattern of our slow economic deterioration. Our currency has been manipulated for nearly a century now (1913) and we continue accept it as normal. In 1913 an ounce of gold bought a good man’s suit $20-25 more or less. Today (2012), an ounce of gold still buys a good man’s suit-think Brook’s Brothers-$1600. The price of gold hasn’t gone up, the value of our manipulated currency has gone way down and with it our way of living as free people. We can never be free as long as the government gives control of our money to a private banking cartel know to most of us as the FED (Federal Reserve Bank). As long as they’re free to print money out of thin air we’re at their mercy and our debasement will continue until we’re all destroyed by their greed and stupidity. I dont think every city will riot either. I think many cities will have them and you can guess the crowds that will. but many small towns in like 50,000 or smaller will bond together at first unless the guard or whoever comes in gets aggressive and then it will get ugly quicky but I think people bond in hard times, older americans and their kids families. I bought another 24 fireworks morters that I use on the ground and not in the tube, it wont kill them but 1-2 at the same time on the ground will really disorientate anyone who is trying to attack you but lighting them you might want to shorten the fuse, when they dont go in the tube and they go off they puff and you still have 2-3 sec exactly before they go off. try some to get an understanding of them, if not just stay away from them. We were younger we used to do all sorts of things, we had a guy and not a friend that took the bb’s out of a shotgun shell and then put the shell and aimed it at a aquantence of mine and it thought he was dead, he got shot with the wad and it left a little welt on his back. I’ve been reading this site on a daily basis for about 2 years now; and i’ve picked up ALOT of useful information. I’ve done some prepping. Food and water for well over a year. Check. Over 1600 Silver Eagles. Check. But the one thing i DON’T have is a gun. I fired a gun once at my uncles place in N.H.; and thats it. Never owned a gun. Can someone please recommend a gun with a little stopping power to someone who’s never owned a firearm??? I’ve got a really strong feeling im going to need one sometime in the next 12 months. Rick Blaine, a friend and a long-time reader once wrote a piece called In Introduction to SHTF Home Defense, Guns and Safety.

In it he outlines some solid SHTF-style weapons. I’d strongly recommend that you look at picking up at least a handgun (9mm or .40 caliber), a shotgun (12 gauge, look to Remington 870) and a rifle (you can go lots of different directions here — even a Ruger 10/22 is better than nothing, but I would highly recommend an SKS – it’s cheap at about $350, fires a 7.62x39mm and eats any ammo you want to throw in it).
For about $1000 you could acquire all three (you may have to buy pre-owned or pay a bit more for new) and have a decent SHTF gun reserve.
I suspect that others out there will give you some great recommendations as well.
Oh, and don’t forget the ammo! (500 – 1000 rounds per weapon is a bare minimum in my book). You’ll be using it for target practice anyway, and you’ll easily burn through 200 rounds of pistol ammo at the range on any given outing, so just buy in bulk… Guns shows are the best place to do that, and if you can, pay cash.

DAVE!!! PLEASE GET A SHOTGUN 12 GUAGE WITH BUCKSHOT. PRACTICE SHOOTING IT AND DONT BE AFRAID OF THE GUN! a pistol for you will be tricky and takes practice and even years. I dont want you to get hurt and think a good 12 gauge would be the best bet for you. Its hard to miss your target and does some good damage and can have a very good spread outside your home to someone trying to come or thats in your home. you dont have to spend a lot of money ok. you can get a pump shotgun that you have to use your hand on the stock to reload a shell. These guns are about 100 percent reliable just like a revolver pistol. A semi auto shotgun can jamb up and if you are older it takes time to figure out how to clear it and get it working again. most times semi-auto shotguns work and you just pull the trigger and the 12 gauge shell reloads by itself. normally they hold about 5 shotgun shells and one in chamber 6 shots. An expensive reliable one is a benelli m2. light and reliable, that is a semi auto shotgun. a mossberg or remington pump will always shoot and you can buy a used one for 350 bucks or less or just a tad more for used at gander mountain. you want a shorter barrell in a home to get a larger spread of the bb’s that come out. longer barrells shoot a real tight pattern and are bulky sometimes in a home. so a shorter barrell I would try to get. a benelli m2 brand new are anywhere from 1090- to 1300 bucks. you dont need that and doesnt perform any better for what you want. you just want a home defense gun. when you buy shotgun shells you will read numbers on the back like 7shot that means it has like 500 little bb’s in it. you might see 4 shot that has many less bb’s but the bb;s are bigger. you can buy steel shot or lead shot. lead shot is just fine for our friends that come into your home. there is bbb bb those are larger bb’s. you will see 00 buck and 000 buck that has anywher from 8-15 bb’s in it the size of 8 9mm bullets hiting someone basically. so if you can find buckshot would be the best bet for you. pistols are hard to shoot and take practice and if you dont use you get a bit rusty and under stress you can miss a target just 25 yards in front of you if your shaky or see someone and your heart pumps and you lock up. That shakyness in your body is cortisol a hormone. that inhibits performance and you dont want that. its like if you get stung by a bee your body releses histamine so you take a anti-histamine to keep the swelling down. under stress or before you get into a fight you get that shakyness or throw a tomatoe at a car and you try to run away but you cant run! that is cortisol in the bloodstream and that takes about 5 min to truely get down. to avoid that you breath into your NOSE and out for counts of 3 to 4 sec in and out for 3-4 min total. so if you do that breathing technique that will keep cortisol down in your bloodstream and help you focus and perform better. that is a good tip for all. Took a dental pharmacology class in college and with special warfare training.
If you think you are going to a gun fight, you bring a semiautomatic rifle with detachable magazine and red dot sight. This is why every military in the world carries rifles, not shotguns or handguns. Not that shotguns and handguns don’t have a place. The primary advantage of handguns is that you can have one with you all the time and it is conceable. They are under powered, difficult to master, and only accurate at conversational distances. The shotgun as a defensive firearm is very over rated. The have brutal recoil when using high powered loads such a buckshot and slugs, low round capacity, and are very difficult to reload quickly. Opt for a semi auto rifle before a shotgun. Very few women like the shotgun. A rifle in 5.56 or 7.62 x 39 they can master fairly quickly.

Shotguns are very limited, even with slugs and buckshot, and most people could only expect deadly results from pistols at close range. However, with my Super Blackhawk in 44 magnum, I feel confident out to 100 yds on a man size target. If I’m sending hot rounds of 300 grain XTP’s at you; there won’t be much left to deal with later. Guaranteed.
A 22 cal. short barreled rifle is better than nothing and can be purchased and stocked with a thousand rounds for less than $200.00.
red leader- yes I agree but he is brand new and probably in his 30’s. with that long with never shooting a gun the skills can be difficult for some people. I read your post and nodded my head and was yea yea I agree but if he gets a jamb for any sakes under stress would devistate him and a shotgun in a home is much faster for most novice users, yes we can use a dot and be faster I know that, but he is brand new and probably scared shitless, thats why I think a low recoil shotgun would be best for 1. malfunction possibility-depends what he buys etc. 2. can draw the weapon and the spread still can nip someone running from somebody scared as they see a guy standing at the front door with a knife and can still hit without much worry. I’m thinking someone who is nervous with guns and may get confused trying to turn on the dot, putting mag in all that.

Your single action .44 mag Blackhawk is a very well made target/hunting pistol that is fun to shoot and with a scope or open sites and a lot of time standing exposed in the off hand position, capable of 100 yard hits on a man size target as you say. Sorry to say it is not a fighting gun. It is Very heavy, it is Very slow to reload, Very slow to to recover for a second and subsequent shot. It is not a fighting handgun and I would challange you to find any expert who has seen the elephant and teaches fighting with a gun, that would carry one.
Comparing a single action revolver to a semi auto pistol is like comparing apples to fire hydrants.
As a department Rangemaster and chief Firearms instructor for over a decade, (Retired now) and seeing hundreds of officers train on all three platforms, the rifle is the what everyone shoots best and is the quickest to teach. Remember only about 10% of cops are gun guys. Unless you order them to the range they will not go.
I think everyone should carry a fighting handgun such as a Glock or SD. Semi Auto, high capcity magazine 9mm, .40 or .45 ACP. It SHOULD NOT be their primary weapon. I like what Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch says; that a pistol is used to fight your way to your rifle.
As far as the shotgun goes, great small game and bird weapon. I can tell you from training scores of cops who have carried a shotgun in their units for 20 years or more, under stress they will screw it up. No matter how many shoot and load drills, slug select drills, loading and unloading drills you do, put the officers under a little stress in a training scenario and over half of them will short stroke, eject rounds on the ground, drop rounds while reloading, switch hands to a strong hand reload etc. There is nothing in the Book of Crook that says that they will engage you within shotgun range. They have rifles too. It is a complicated short range weapon.
On another note, I recently saw a very good video evaluation of the new Sig 556R AK platform by Gabe Suarez. He calls it the Mercedes of AKs. Does anyone have any first hand experience with this rifle? It has a rail built on ot ready for optics.
Without extra loaded magazines, a semi auto pistol is at least as slow to reload as a single action revolver.
My opinion to someone who has not really ever fired a weapon is to start with a .22 rifle.
Cheap to get, cheap and easy to shoot, and draws near zero attention.
Most important is to then take it out the next weekend and shoot it, A LOT. This is the most important first step. To a beginner it may seem wasteful, “hey I hit the target, guess I can head home now…” but make it a point to go thru a lot of rounds, and a lot of targets. Take a friend, it will help to keep things interesting. I believe you really need to get a lot of practice with an inexpensive low powered rifle.
THEN…
You should draw your own conclusions on how that rifle “felt” to you. Was it comfortable? Did the sights seem natural as you tried to sight into the target? Did you find yourself feeling awkward with your cheek too low while firing? After you find what you like or dislike after some shooting, you will then be able to do a better job deciding what YOU want in the more expensive future gun. Other people may disagree with me, but I have found guns (mostly rifles) that I find “fit” that I will shoot well, and accurately.. and others that even with practice feel awkward. In a dire situation, I want to grab a gun, and have it in firing position without giving a second thought. Some guns work well for this, some do not.
By the way, you wil never regret keeping a .22LR around. Like most great tools, once you have one you will find many uses. Still my weapon of choice as a “learning tool” for those 4 legged visitors to the chicken house.
The .22 LR rifle is great to learn the basics of the rifle on. A Ruger 10/22 with a set of after market adjustable peep sights is what many newbies use at Appleseed training. It is some of the best and cheapest rifle training that you can get.
First choice for personal defense : a handgun, carried with you at all times. For a newbie, a revolver in .38 or .357 is fine. For a semi-auto, go with 9mm, .40, or .45 caliber, nothing else. Ammo needs – 250 rounds
For home defense : shotgun, 12- or 20-gauge, with pump action. The Mossberg is not expensive and reliable. Ammo needs – 250 rounds in slug or buck/ball, and 250 rounds buckshot, and 500 rounds birdshot
For community and area defense : rifle, centerfire, either bolt or semi-auto. Calibers should be .223 (5.56 mm), .308 (7.62mm NATO), 30.06, or 7.62x54R, or 7.62×39, for availability of ammo, now and in future. The Russian WWII bolt rifle, Mosin-Nagant, is a proven rifle for about $100. You can get excellent deer rifles at a shop or show for about $300. A quality semi-auto will run $600 minumum, should stick to AR-15 clones. The SKS is a good choice, less money, and less caliber, I have two of them. Ruger Mini-14 or Mini-30 is another good choice. I would personally start with the Mosin-Nagant, one for each adult in the house, and a few more for the neighbors when it comes to community. Ammo needs – 500 rounds per rifle, work up to a case of ammo for each.
First choice for garden protection, training, and general varminting : .22LR rifle, the Ruger 10/22 is the standard, they’re about $150. Ammo needs – 5000 rounds
I have to agree with you Smokey. A first choice, especially for a newbie is a revolver. More specifically in 357 magnum. Shoot 38′s thru it until confident and fairly accurate. Twenty-five to fifty feet is plenty good for self protection.
Red Leader has some good points and I agree with him about the rifle for accuracy. My first choice, if I have the time and distance, would definetely be my 270 Wthby Mag. I have it bench rest shooting to plug coin dollar size holes at 200 yds. That’s not happening with a typical handgun or most semi=auto rifles.
In a close situation, 25 yds or less, I’ll stay with a pistol. For extreme situations calling for many rounds I want a reliable(most autos will jam occasionally) 45 auto., and if that situation calls for a must have dispatch; the runaways will get the hot 300 XTPs flung from the ole reliable(never jams), and yes heavy,Super Blackhawk 44 mag. After 100 yds. they/it will most likely be behind cover anyway.
I’m sure that I am out of place here; but my Marine BIL spent hours (2 days) with me, wife & teen daughter (well, they were just practicing) when I came out of the kitchen and onto the range (aka 40 acre backyard). Since I was pretty use to my new .380 he had me march 10-15 feet forward, turn, fire until I could do it without thinking, drop the magazine, reload and then we
run (ok- walk very fast – I’m 50+) a 4-wheel trail forward shooting, then back ~ turning to shoot on command.
The march forward was to put space between me and what is a problem and up the adrenaline (heart-rate) to more realistically than taking all the time I wanted in ‘target practice’. This has been my new training and gives me a better perspective on real-time…. puff, puff, and losing extra pounds.
I guess what I was trying to say is that it’s one thing to practice at the target range (good at this) and another to put yourself in the heat of what might be (not so good, but getting better). His wife and daughter are so sharp that it makes me a little competitive. I firmly believe an experienced, patient teacher brings you to a whole different level of competence.
Dave: You have stumbled into an argument for which there is no correct answer. There is no such thing as the only gun, or perfect gun. Everything is situational to your abilities, comfort levels, geographical area, and purpose. Not to mention budget.
The only advice I could give you is to try to find a place that rents them and try a few out at the range. I have heard indoor ranges will rent guns to prospective buyers.
Be honest with them about your skill level but you may want to change the reason for wanting one.

Dave: Mac is spot on with the guns. 500-100 per gun is the bare minimum for each one you own but err on the side of caution and get at least 1000, especially the 12 guage and .22cal. .22LR are sold in bricks, usually 550 per box/brick so stock up on this caliber more than the others because it’s still pretty cheap and can be used for barter if necessary (think a few thousand rounds ). I would also get some training from a local firearms instructor such as a certified NRA instuctor on all three types of weapons (pistol, rifle, and shotgun). There are also some good independent firearms instuctors ones as well, often at your local gun range. Proper instruction can prevent you from aquiring bad habits and bad/dangerous attitudes. You may also consider joining one of these gun clubs for the additional training they offer, ease of shooting when you want to shoot, and for learning subtle things from the more experienced shooters. some have advised against emergency essentials flour products; we haven’t used those, but have used their fruits and veggies. for example, it’s nice to have dried spinach on hand, easy to use in omlets or on pizza; i don’t waste half a frozen box and no thawing time.

Preppers can get that jump by paying attention to these dates and the likely time of day when it would happen. The western side of Iran is 9 hours ahead of eastern time during the fall and winter and 8 hours ahead now. The attack would occur towards midnight which is slightly later than 12:00 during the summer months. So it would take awhile to reach the news, maybe a half a hour or so. Probably between 11:30- about 2:00 AM Iran time it would hit the news. 3:30 to 6:00 PM eastern time during the summer and spring everyone would know about it. 4:30 to 7:00 eastern time during the winter and fall standard time.
This means that most stores will be open in the country. Any final preparations would be a good idea when this happens before the masses figure out what happened. Ammo and fuel should be first because they will also be the first to be shut down by the government.

I explained this on youtube several years ago. I tried telling people this, but they insisted on calling me names and telling me I wasn’t a good American because I wasn’t a conspiracy nut. Those are coffin liners. I used to make them. Not for FEMA but for private funeral homes. 2.4 million deaths a year in the USA alone so yeah there are a lot of liners. I know it sounds contradictory that those who dispersed a virus would want to limit the epidemic, but there are a couple of circumstances in which I believe that they WOULD want to do so.
First, they would not want to be infected themselves, and for that reason, precautions would be taken to manage the epidemic.
Next, they wouldn’t want their worker bees to all be infected and unable to work, which is one possibility.
And finally, they would want to give the appearance of attempting to mitigate the infection – this would be necessary to prevent complete anarchy.
From the reading I’ve done on this topic these encasements are designed to contain communicable diseases.
I may be entirely wrong and there is a completely different agenda with these liners, but this is one possible theory.

Kind of off topic but as disease has been mentioned already. If they ever used disease as a depopulation method it would not be Ebola, it is impossible to control and in this respect the PTB could not take the risk of getting it. It also requires specialist handling of contaminated bedding, clothing and the bodies themselves, way to complicated if you want to ensure enough survive to work for you in the future.
Smallpox is a possibility, we know there are stocks of the virus in both the US and Russia and currently only 90 million vaccine doses worldwide, some of which are nearing the end of their usable life, new safer vaccine is being developed at this time. At a maximum 30% kill rate (there are other forms that are 95%+ fatal but too messy to use, same problems as ebola) but with millions being left blind and with organ damage there would be untold problems for the governments, I believe this is more likely to be used by non-government bio terrorists than anyone else.
I could go on but you get the idea.
If the PTB ever decide to go the pandemic route it would ideally be something that was almost guarenteed to kill the elderly and at least 60% of everyone else who came into contact with in…something like Avian flu..H5N1 would do it, all they have to do is make it more transmissible to humans. It already exists in both domestic and wild birds world wide so there is a good reservoir going already.

I know a guy who hauled concrete to help build some of those bunkers. He had steady work for four years hauling to the same job. No one ever told him what he was hauling concrete for. A lot of these guys know more than they are told though. He was from NC. He would drive up to DC and haul for 2 weeks at a time.

While trucking a couple years ago, I met a guy that hauled an oversized container(60′ x 12′ x 9′) for the government. He had to deliver it in the middle of the desert in New Mexico somewhere. When He got close, he was escorted to the site. On the site was only one man with a truck/trailer and a trackhoe that had just dug a huge hole. As soon as it was unloaded, it was buried and the delivery driver said he was rushed away with the best paycheck ever. Our taxpayer $$ at work.

Wheel weights are common and have a nice alloy for bullets. Used to melt them for casting bullets for black powder guns. The little steel clip just sinks to the bottom.
Beware of so of the newer ones they are not made of lead but they are a mixture of crap pot metals.
You never did that. If you did you’d know that the steel slip floats to the top.
Old Coach, I melt them down all the time and I’ve never had a steel clip float to the top. I have an electric cast iorn pan, and it gets very hot.

Wheel weights on tire rims are a far better quality of lead for making bullets. Some lead is way too soft and needs atimony(sp) added to stiffen it up.
Just dissolve a box of baking soda in a 5gal bucket then put the battery(empty) in another and pour the soda water over it till covered,let sit for awhile,I just throw them in a good fire and go do somthing else after for a spell the lead will be in gobs in the ashes,its a hard grade of lead but Ive fired alot of them and the work as well as any cast bullet…just sayin, 🙂
PS: save the acid you drain from the batteries…it may come in real handy as a food additive or some such thing for feeding our blue helmeted “friends” 🙂
The dross from battery lead has calcium and arsenic in it. If exposed to moisture, you get arsine and stibene gas, both of which are extremely poisonous. Do not use battery lead for casting anything at all.

Why does these number scare anyone. Hell the 46000 number is what my group use for practiece in a single weekend. the 174000 was for 245 agents for carry and practice for the year do the math.
Because there is a BIG difference between shooting PRACTICE and shooting US! Wouldn’t you agree? How would you like to have 46000 rounds fired toward you, or 4600, or 460… hell, how would you feel if 46 rounds of that ammo was being shot AT YOU?

Hollow point for practice? Interesting… I must have it wrong. I use fmj for practice and save my hollow points for my enemy.. maybe I have it backward…
I did the math. But, having been a shooter for decades, I know you do NOT use hollow points for punching holes in paper. The only ones who do are: rookies, silver spooners, and experimenters.
And you know he’s FOS about the 46000 rounds for practice in a weekend too. If they’re shooting that much then they are simply wasting ammo and screwing around. Even if there were 50 in his ‘group’, that’s 920 rounds each (I did the math too!). I can see that if each of them are pretty well off and can afford to waste 1000 rounds of, let’s say .223, because it equates to at least $300-$350 per person. That’s A LOT of money in lead let me tell ya! If he’s telling the truth, then more power to him. But I would be storing that ammo instead of punching paper!
You train with what you use. Using a different bullet is stupid. Do we want the Secret Service which will hopefully be guarding Mitt to practice with “Practice Rounds”. Train as you fight. The Army doesn’t use practice rounds. Dumb asses. When they buy in the quantity that the Military does then worry. Half of those 46000 will be use at the range in the first month. The bullet issue is another distraction. Look for real issue don’t make them.
A yes we go though these amounts of rounds and we only us what we plan on using. And 400 or 500 at the range in the weekend is nothing. And AR can eat 3 mags a minute. We always do 4 or 5 tac ranges every day we go so that 420 round each times 11. Plus point and shot exc. Draw and shoot. And many other and if you are not doing these you are not training you are just familiar yourself with your weapon. If you practice with FMJ you should fight with full metal jacket. They put more force on a vest the Blue would wear anyways and don’t fragment when going though things to get to your targets. You weekend armchair shooter are going to get people killed with your bullshit ideas.

I’d like to know, except for Swift and myself, who else on this board uses FMJ primarily as paper punchers INSTEAD of JHP, Match, AP, etc???
We all use some of the good stuff to make sure it fires well in our particular gun, if it’s ‘dirty’ or leave a lot of copper on the barrel, etc. But I will venture to guess and would be willing to wager, that the vast majority here fires the ‘cheaper’ ammo at targets.
Like I said earlier, glad you can afford it, but it’s still as waste!

Military did use FMJ but now are using flat Penetrator rounds correct. But they don’t shoot “cheaper practice”
No a hollow point does not shoot the same. And in many case the FMJ is a better choice Example I carry a 10mm I want mass hitting my target. IE Vests Car doors wall etc. Everything from immediate action drills to reaction of the firearm is different. Hell the sound is different.
Most don’t match their practice rounds, they buy cheap target round and think their case of “good” stuff is the same. Example WAlly Mart 8 Shot then almost kill them selves with there 5 rd box of Mad Defenders. Many You tube examples.
Yes everyone cannot afford to practice as I do. But don’t make new prepper think that one class or 12 weekend range shoots make them trained to fight. That can make them an OK shot. But that is not enough to put up a fight as some here want. It does prep them for guerilla warfare and the gangbangers(Thugs) which I am more worry about in the near term. I have trained from scratch “villages” to defend themselves. And I will give credit it is the mindset and the sheer ________ that usually decide who win.
Yes if it is all you can afford practice with what you can. But don’t think because you are using you 10/22 you are doing the same as your AR 10 or Sig 556. And most conversion kit for AR 15 are only good for teach immediate action drills.

I have to agree with you Smokey. A first choice, especially for a newbie is a revolver. More specifically in 357 magnum. Shoot 38’s thru it until confident and fairly accurate. Twenty-five to fifty feet is plenty good for self protection.
Red Leader has some good points and I agree with him about the rifle for accuracy. My first choice, if I have the time and distance, would definetely be my 270 Wthby Mag. I have it bench rest shooting to plug coin dollar size holes at 200 yds. That’s not happening with a typical handgun or most semi=auto rifles.
In a close situation, 25 yds or less, I’ll stay with a pistol. For extreme situations calling for many rounds I want a reliable(most autos will jam occasionally) 45 auto., and if that situation calls for a must have dispatch; the runaways will get the hot 300 XTPs flung from the ole reliable(never jams), and yes heavy,Super Blackhawk 44 mag. After 100 yds. they/it will most likely be behind cover anyway.

I think it will be funny that if tshf and some of these wall street asswipes have bought some prepper property and get to it in time and have done some prepping, what are they going to do when it is grid down and they have no water, no power, and only mt. house packs to eat. This is a site in which very interesting articles are printed and RICH99 comes on and puts down so many articles without explaning to anyone exactly why. Good healthy debate and being able to show your point of view benefits everyone and gets everyone to think. RICH says that nothing is going to happen for at least 5-8 years, then logically why should he start to prepare until 4-5 years from now. RICH comes on and is very highly critical of the articles here and someone like this should better explain themselves just why in detail.
For one thing if others knew what RICH was worried about and why he prepared maybe he would not get all of his comments immediately collapsed like you said they do to your comments. IF RICH is preparing like he said he is, then there is something there that he fears is going to happen. What is wrong with stating this? Maybe Mac might find it interesting and do an article about it. I myself feel that people are vastly under prepared for a pandemic.

2012? Does it mean something? I wish I knew. Many times people can bring about self phophesy, and it sure seems like the financial institutions are doing their best to bring it about. The planet is something that humans don’t control, and if Mother Nature decides to unleash a catastrophic event, well then. The money of this world is controllable, and either THEY want this collapse to occur so THEY can bring about their plans to control, OR there is some of the stupidest people alive handling the monetary systems of the world.
It just doesn’t seem like there is going to be an election, there might be as I cannot see the future, but it sures seems like all this hype about the election means nothing. Something else I have noticed that could just be the drought in the nation, but it could be something else. The wildlife around the area is acting bizarre and spastic. We have had worse droughts here and the animals have not acted like this. There is a desperation for example I have never seen before, even when enormous amounts of food is put. You see these birds and they are fat plump butterballs and they just cannot get enough food. During the previous extreme drought, birds and other animals never acted this way. The spiders are acting like they have itching powder all over them. Animals are also sensing something.
Animals are the ultimate preppers, at least those ones that store up for later, and the squirrels are taking all the food they get and hiding it now. Normally they wait until late September to do that here. The robins are very fat and they are literally stuffing themselves with nightcrawler worms on newly watered grasses. The animal are acting like hideous times are coming. I wonder if others around the country are seeing this also.
Something disturbing also is that there are more black helicopters in the air than anytime during the past 3 years or so. This could just be training, but for what?
I know this sounds like conspiracy things, but I truly feel that one of the basic traits of being a prepper/survivalist is the be extremely aware of the surroundings and what is going on. I see some strange happenings. Has anyone else seen anything that strange and out of the ordinary where they live? Could be signs of something to come.
BI….The neighbor and I went to check our gravity flow spring water system out last week. I have never seen it this low in the 25 years we have lived here. He has lived here 65 years and never seen it this low. We are on the plus for rainfall so I hope maybe it is just a leak.The system was installed by the RR as a water stop for the steam engines so that tells you how long it’s been in existence. Another unusual thing is that the oaks have been dropping their acorns already and they are still green.I’m not sure why this is.

I am a bit frightened for my 18 yr old grandson, going off to college, as he will be 3 hrs. away from home…the only good thing is that he spent 6 yrs in air force cadets and has had many survival courses(had to build his own “lean to”(not sure if that is spelled correctly or not?) @ JRS. I think one of the most frightening experiences is seeing the lack of water to drink and use. It really freaks you when you see no water period. People take clean water way to for granted. Prepping should always include water, at bare minimum 50 gallons per person.
The oak trees probably know that unless they drop their acorns now, there will be little chance later of them seeding out. A tree normally is trying to reproduce, and dropping acorns now is a bad sign. The oaks are trying to reproduce while the time is still available to do so.
JRS, we have loads of premature acorn drops too — very green nuts — we’ve never seen this phenomenon. And the squirrels are already eating them. We’re in VA and not in the drought at all. We didn’t have much of a Winter season and for us, Spring and Summer were very early. I think the Autumn season is here already too.
Down in Florida we have been breaking records with rain and have had only one hurricane. What I find odd about this year is the massive draught in certain areas and massive rainfall in others. And I watch earthquakes and volcanoes and the earth is gearing up for something. Right now there are 181 earthquakes, expect about 50 in the next week. We are breaking records for a reason.
How about railroad coal cars with solar panels mounted on the sides. Seen them twice now. They appear to be filled with gravel, and are left to sit for extended periods. I know a bit about solar, and I’m guessing about 40 watts of panel per car. Today there were six cars and they were parked on rails commonly in use.
We live in a rural mountain community about 60 miles from the nearest large city. Our county municipal airport is just minutes away, as the crow flies. For the past six months the military/black or drab helicopters have been flying out by our place with increasing trips per week. In the past month their trips have become daily events. It’s mostly two at a time. Something is in the works.
No change in animal behavior that I have noticed, although the drought has JUST started here. But the helicopters are so frequent that I almost forget to look up anymore. Washington state here what area of the country are others in?
@ Don’t tread and HalfKin. I have asked people this about the black helicopters, if the country is so stable then why are so many of them in the air? They have no answer. Some of the black helicopters here always follow the same flight paths, others will sometimes not. Many years ago we saw a black helicopter every other week or so, then after 9/11 it was everyday. Then there was a sort of lull, where it was every other day or so for the past 3 years or so. Now it is much more frequent, at least everyday. Something is happening and keen observations are important, as it alerts us all to strange happenings aroound the country and world.
BI, excellent observation about the animals, here in the pineywoods region the ants are storehousing like no tomorrow. The squirrels are going after pears,figs and they are already taking unripened nuts. The thing is you can feel the urgency in their gathering efforts. The birds, Jays and cardinals aggressively go after the cats left overs. @ Gregory the watcher. OMENS of things to come. I have found that people overthink and over analyst everything, especially myself, but animals just feel. While a person might discount a bad feeling and not act on it, animals just do whatever is necessary to get ready. By watching abnormal animal behaviour, people can see what is coming. Much research has been done in animals predicting earthquakes.
The ants around the area here have stopped coming out and swarming on a food source, they to are going underground and taking what they have with them there. During the last bad drought the ants were actually looking desperately for water, this time they are taking everything they can below ground. Normally this going underground takes place a little bit before squirrels go storing up crazy around middle September.
Another real strange thing I have noticed are the beetles that normally wait until October or later to start trying to come inside, they are trying to get from the outside in. It is still in the 80’s here, and every single time the beetles wait until at least the first hard frost to seek shelter.
Even weird government action could mean that someone knows something that the animals are sensing. Man has such an arrogant attitude about all that technology can do, but the planet, the sun, space itself can instantly make everyone seem quite tiny when SHTF from the geophysical part of it. Any strange, especially unheard of, action should not be dismissed. Everyone out there should seem like they have noticed something different in the past week or month around their home.

Animals are spooked, and it sure would interesting to hear of anything else from around the country, and other countries about animals acting strange, or plant life. If anyone else has spotted anything going on that is bizarre with the planet in their area this could be very valuable insight of something coming for all of us.
Where I live, local plants seem to be having a hard time, not cycling normaly. Been hot lately, have’nt seen to much animal activity.
our gardens are not protected by anything other than the squash vines around the perimeter….and nothing-not even hornworms have been stealing or eating out of our gardens…i discussed this with a few friends and the conclusion that we have come to is that animals are not reproducing as they have in the past years here..it has been a good year since i have seen the normal herd of deer passing through. it just might be a very lean year for hunters this year with our animal population way down in numbers.

I posted this last week a few times but my family and I saw a P3 Orion 4 prop surveillance plane fly low and slow over Kalamazoo in sw Michigan. I have never seen one of them here before. It had no markings and was just silver. Also have seen a few white panel vans with gov plates out here on back roads that I have not seen in our area before.

Making a trip to the Walmart is like going to the Persian gulf and now my white,blonde haired blue eyed wife and kids and I stand out and are in the minority. Seems like most every gas station and convenience store,even out here in rural areas, in the last ten years have changed hands from mom and pop locals and are now run by Arabs.
Seeing another post on here has made me recall that at night, I hear large Starlifter type jet aircraft flying overhead( much louder than the normal passenger commercial jets flying the Chicago/Detroit corridor) most nights but none in the daytime.
My wife that is a critical care Paramedic and has a teaching degree and taught Medic and cpr classes IE leo/Nursing/firefighters for the community college was laid off and can not get work in her field and has to work at Taco Bell(best job avail…sad) while she is going back to school for a RN degree, She has a slang for the New population “Sub Beaners” because they all ask(rudely a lot of the time) to substitute beans for meat on their tacos.She is the best.
You can really feel the tangible change in the makeup and attitude of the area’s population lately, absolutely no desire to fit in or adopt any of our culture.

Here in the Rocky Mountain region there is a huge anti-muslim movement from what I have heard and seen. We had many muslims that moved in several years, at least hundreds, and they all moved out after the white supremacists evidentally persuaded them to leave. It was something to behold seeing arabs surrounded on all sides while they were driving around town. Still happens when an arab from another area comes to town. I never personally seen anyone injuried, just intimidated. The arabs that were here for a long time sold their homes and left. We see maybe an arab once every two weeks or longer now.

to your greater question: when individuals and institutions buy large quantities of gold, they typically pay for storage of their holdings in a vault, the largest being the one below the NY federal reserve building in manhattan. most countries and central banks don’t even hold physical possession of their gold holdings. so, when one party sells gold to another party, the gold typically just moves from one column on the spreadsheet to another column wihtout actually leaving the secure vault.

@ AnonLegion. What you have observed is probably one of the most critical indications of something to come. Last night something started up that occurred just like before the second Iraq war, very heavy railroad transport during the night. Then come morning, nothing. You would hear this all night long before the war, this very heavy equpiment being shipped towards the east. I live 2 and 1/2 miles from the railroad tracks and this is so heavy that you can hear it no problem like the train is right around the corner. It is going east, not west. I think we are both seeing a harbinger of something.

Well, as others have stated, we have seen a lot of MRAP’s, up-armored Humvees WITH turrets, APC’s, and other military and “civilian” militarized equipment being moved on flatbed trucks and other modes more in the last month and a half than any other time in my recollection. One thing is for sure, I’ve never seen MRAP’s being transported by flatbed anywhere before recently except those that are in need of repair. So, I know something’s up. They too are going east, west, mainly but some I’ve seen are heading north, south.

If I were a non prepper I’d run out this weekend and buy 5 guns, thousands of rounds of ammo, dozens of flats of water, a few rain barrels, a water filtration system, basic medical supplies and about 20 cartloads of canned food, pasta, rice & beans.
I’d order mylar bags to store my food. I’d run to Home Depot and pick up about 40 buckets & lids to store it all in.
I’d also pull my money out of the stock market – pronto. I’d go to the bank & pull out a few thousand in small bills to have around the house.
I’d visit my local coin shop and buy silver rounds, gold, whatever I can get my hands on.
It’s not too late to start – it can all be done in one busy weekend. You can fill in the gaps later – if there is still time.
Take out a loan if you have to.

The PTB don’t believe in prophecy, much less the bible. So, they hoarde mass quanties of food,ammo, and gold. When SHTF they can hire guards/asassins for a little chunk of gold and food. The upper echelons will be hidden away in some remote areas or underground bunkers and just plan to wait out the war.
If there is a period of somewhat calm in your particular neck of the woods, a little gold and silver may be a good bartering tool; but, for most areas food/clean drinking water will be the priority.
Don’t hock the farm just to purchase supplies. However; if it’s mortgaged already and can’t be paid off, like next week, I’d say get all you can. The “BIG” banks/gov. will wind up with your debt and try to control you with it(I believe). You might end up having to leave it all behind. Plan accordingly, and hope for the best.

The money the U.S. government owes to foreign entities rose to a record $5.2923 trillion in June, according to data released by the U.S. Treasury.
In May, the U.S. Treasury had owed $5.2581 trillion to foreign entities. On net, in June, the U.S. government borrowed an additional $34.2 billion from foreign entities in order to fund U.S. government operations.
The U.S. government’s indebtedness to foreign interests has grown by 72.3 percent during President Barack Obama’s term in office. In January 2009, when Obama was inaugurated, the U.S. government owed $3.0717 trillion to foreign entities, according to the Treasury Department. That has increased by $2.2206 trillion—or 72.3 percent—to the record $5.2923 trillion.
Entities in the People’s Republic of China remain the largest holders of U.S. government debt. Entities in Japan, however, are on track to eclipse the Chinese as the top holders of U.S. government debt.
The only reason I can possibly imagine China having bought this much US debt would be that if Chinese leadership got particularly annoyed with US foreign policy at some point in the future, it could simply dump the debt on to financial markets all at once, as a form of asymmetric warfare.
Both China and Japan have to understand that this debt cannot be paid back, ever. The American people are, in large part, broke, and the US government is also broke.

Things will continue to deteriorate despite your best wishes, efforts, sacrifices and whatever. I know you won’t appreciate this now because most of us like to believe we know what’s going on and what to do about it. But if that was truly the case then things wouldn’t be this bad. Our problems have grown vastly in numbers, size and magnitude. Most of us don’t want to admit we don’t know what the hell to do. My advice to everyone is to start listening to the scientists that have been warning us about these problems for decades. And what did we do through our arrogance and ignorance. We shrugged them off as alarmist when they were trying to save our asses. Well your ass is in a lot of trouble for ignoring warnings about technological unemployment, climate change, global warming, peak oil, economic collapse and on and on an on. We don’t listen.
This is not a scare tactic to scare people. This is a warning to save our asses. Because today is nothing compared to what is coming. You don’t have to be a genius to figure that out.

We have to start listening to the smartest people on the planet not the dumb people. The scientist and engineers are our only hope. We need smart people (Scientist and Engineers) to fix this mess(s). The Heritage Foundation hosted the Homeland Security Conference this past week and I’m assuming what you saw came from that Conference. Heritage has a brief article on their website but there is no reference to what you are claiming.
Paul Stockton has testified before the House on a number of occasions. Stockton’s area of interest is planning for disaster mitigation and/or recover from grid-down situations (EMP, cyber attacks, natural disasters). No mention in his testimonials (or NLE documentation) that indicates the use of any foreign military agency, only ‘our own’.

I watched the show on Saturday but it may have been a re-run from earlier in the week.The head(?) of the Coast Guard (I believe he was a four star) was there also, along with someone from a think tank also on the panel. They were mostly discussing trying to get funding for a major catastrophe like an earthquake on the New Madrid fault or a Carrington event that would cause grid down. I was kind of surprised that he mentioned the foreign military.Sorry no link.

Most of the interest being generated lies with natural disasters that might created a grid-down scenario. Stockton also theorizes about the possible threat of cyber war or an EMP, too. What is omitted in this testimony (or in most of the commentaries) is that there has been interest to bring in the military (but not foreign agencies). Nothing recent has been said that I know of until what you’ve mentioned.

The Pentagon Wants Authority to Post Almost 400,000 Military Personnel in U.S.
The Pentagon has approached Congress to grant the Secretary of Defense the authority to post almost 400,000 military personnel throughout the United States in times of emergency or a major disaster.
This request has already occasioned a dispute with the nation’s governors. And it raises the prospect of U.S. military personnel patrolling the streets of the United States, in conflict with the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878.
In June, the U.S. Northern Command distributed a “Congressional Fact Sheet” entitled “Legislative Proposal for Activation of Federal Reserve Forces for Disasters.” That proposal would amend current law, thereby “authorizing the Secretary of Defense to order any unit or member of the Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Navy Reserve, and the Marine Corps Reserve, to active duty for a major disaster or emergency.”
Taken together, these reserve units would amount to “more than 379,000 military personnel in thousands of communities across the United States,” explained
Paul Stockton, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America’s Security Affairs, in a letter to the National Governors Association, dated July 20.
The governors were not happy about this proposal, since they want to maintain control of their own National Guard forces, as well as military personnel acting in a domestic capacity in their states.
“We are concerned that the legislative proposal you discuss in your letter would invite confusion on critical command and control issues,” Governor James H. Douglas of Vermont and Governor Joe Manchin III of West Virginia, the president and vice president of the governors’ association, wrote in a letter back to Stockton on August 7. The governors asserted that they “must have tactical control over all . . . active duty and reserve military forces engaged in domestic operations within the governor’s state or territory.”
According to Pentagon public affairs officer Lt. Col. Almarah K. Belk, Stockton has not responded formally to the governors but understands their concerns.
“There is a rub there,” she said. “If the Secretary calls up the reserve personnel to provide support in a state and retains command and control of those forces, the governors are concerned about if I have command and control of the Guard, how do we ensure unity of effort and everyone is communicating and not running over each other.”
Belk said Stockton is addressing this problem. “That is exactly what Dr. Stockton is working out right now with the governors and DHS and the National Guard,” she said. “He’s bringing all the stakeholders together.”
Belk said the legislative change is necessary in the aftermath of a “catastrophic natural disaster, not beyond that,” and she referred to Katrina, among other events.
But NorthCom’s Congressional fact sheet refers not just to a “major disaster” but also to “emergencies.” And it says, “Those terms are defined in section 5122 of title 42, U.S. Code.”
That section gives the President the sole discretion to designate an event as an “emergency” or a “major disaster.” Both are “in the determination of the President” alone.
That section also defines “major disaster” by citing plenty of specifics: “hurricane, tornado, storm, high water, wind-driven water, tidal wave, tsunami, earthquake, volcanic eruption, landslide, mudslide, snowstorm, or drought,” as well as “fire, flood, or explosion.”
But the definition of “emergency” is vague: “Emergency means any occasion or instance for which, in the determination of the President, Federal assistance is needed to supplement State and local efforts and capabilities to save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, or to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in any part of the United States.”
Currently, the President can call up the Reserves only in an emergency involving “a use or threatened use of a weapon of mass destruction” or “a terrorist attack or threatened terrorist attack in the United States that results, or could result, in significant loss of life or property,” according to Title 10, Chapter 1209, Section 12304, of the U.S. Code. In fact, Section 12304 explicitly prohibits the President from calling up the Reserves for any other “natural or manmade disaster, accident, or catastrophe.”
So the new proposed legislation would greatly expand the President’s power to call up the Reserves in a disaster or an emergency and would extend that power to the Secretary of Defense. (There are other circumstances, such as repelling invasions or rebellions or enforcing federal authority, where the President already has the authority to call up the Reserves.)
The ACLU is alarmed by the proposed legislation. Mike German, the ACLU’s national security policy counsel, expressed amazement “that the military would propose such a broad set of authorities and potentially undermine a 100-year-old prohibition against the military in domestic law enforcement with no public debate and seemingly little understanding of the threat to democracy.”
At the moment, says Pentagon spokesperson Belk, the legislation does not have a sponsor in the House or the Senate.

Thanks for that link. I recall Stockton talked about the problem of who would be in charge in an emergency situation. He proposed that they could possibly have a liason that would answer to the president and the heads of the National Guard and the military. However this was something he said they hadn’t worked out yet

This classified data will be accessed via DHS’ Homeland Security Data Network (HSDN). DHS will be responsible for ensuring that proper security procedures are followed.
“With this action, DoD continues its work in supporting states and localities who are leading our efforts to secure the nation from domestic terrorism attacks,” said Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Americas’ Security Affairs Paul N. Stockton. “We look forward to exploring other opportunities where DoD can help our state and local partners effectively defeat terrorism.”

I have noticed most posters on this site are intolerant to views outside tea party – to far right thinking. I’m a prepper who has been seeing the same things as you all; doesn’t matter which ideology is to blame, I believe both red and blue have sold out the middle class to the billionaire elites and have been for thirty years. My grandfather was a union carpenter most of his life and noone ever called him a socialist, pinkie, or anti-American. Your enemy is not teachers, policemen, firefighters, nurses, etc. It is those who would divide us with hate, suspicion, and division. All of the banks worldwide as far as I can tell are required to prepare for disaster. NZ certainly is. You can google RBNZ Open Bank Resolution which orders NZ banks to prepare. I expect all other banks are under similar instructions.
The funny thing about NZ banks is that they have to work under 2 sets of prudential regulations – both for New Zealand, and for Australia to meet the regulatory requirements of their Australian owners as well as the NZ govt. Although most NZs hate the thought that a big % of profits go offshore, the fact that NZ banks must jump through 2 sets of Govt hoops is probably a saving grace in these times.
