George Soros and other liberal mega-donors are gathering in Washington for a three-day, closed-door meeting where they will discuss opposing Trump’s plan for his first 100 days in office.
According to Politico, the meeting, which began on Sunday night at Washington’s Mandarin Oriental hotel, is sponsored by the influential Democracy Alliance donor club and will include darlings of the left such as House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Congressional Progressive Caucus co-chairman Keith Ellison.

The meeting is the first major gathering of the institutional left since Trump’s shocking victory over Hillary Clinton in last week’s presidential election, and, if the agenda is any indication, liberals plan full-on trench warfare against Trump from Day One. Some sessions deal with gearing up for 2017 and 2018 elections, while others focus on thwarting President-elect Trump’s 100-day plan, which the agenda calls “a terrifying assault on President Obama’s achievements — and our progressive vision for an equitable and just nation.”
Yet the meeting also comes as many liberals are reassessing their approach to politics — and the role of the Democracy Alliance, or DA, as the club is known in Democratic finance circles. The DA, its donors and beneficiary groups over the last decade have had a major hand in shaping the institutions of the left, including by orienting some of its key organizations around Clinton, and by basing their strategy around the idea that minorities and women constituted a so-called “rising American electorate” that could tip elections to Democrats.
The Democracy Alliance has fed upwards of $500 million toward liberal activist groups and candidates since Soros co-founded the group in 2005.
All members of DA are required to give $200,000 a year to recommended activist groups and pay annual dues of $30,000 to fund the DA staff and its meetings.
Gara LaMarche, the president of the DA, told donors Sunday evening that some reassessment is in order for the Democratic party. “You don’t lose an election you were supposed to win, with so much at stake, without making some big mistakes, in assumptions, strategy and tactics,” LaMarche said, according to prepared remarks he provided to Politico.
LaMarche would add that the reassessment “must take place without recrimination and finger-pointing, whatever frustration and anger some of us feel about our own allies in these efforts,” and he said “It is a process we should not rush, even as we gear up to resist the Trump administration.”
While focusing on preserving ObamaCare and other achievements of the Obama administration that are threatened by a Donald Trump presidency, the DA’s agenda includes panels on rethinking polling and the left’s approach to winning the working-class vote. The group will also stress funneling cash into state legislative policy initiatives and races where Republicans took over last week.
President-elect Donald Trump has said his first 100 days will be dedicated to restoring “honesty, accountability and change to Washington” through the following seven steps:
- A Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress
- A hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health)
- A requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated
- A five-year ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service
- A lifetime ban on the White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government
- A complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections
- Cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fix America’s water and environmental infrastructure
Billionaire George Soros immediately had fingers of blame pointing at him for the anti-Trump riots and protests that swept the nation since Nov. 9, as his group MoveOn.org has organized most of them.

Braveheart, after getting one of everything they make (well, several ‘straw packs’), I’m sold. Got several of those “blue” straws except I understand they only filter until plugged, with no chance of ‘backwashing’. Western North Carolina is now getting so dry that most wells are producing water with “silt” mixed in with it to varying degrees. The big springs are still producing, but at 15% of their normal if that much.

Obviously, there are funded groups that organize opposition. What this article does not point out is that the majority of the people protesting do not receive one nickel for showing up in the streets. There is genuine anger and frustration and to say that protests wouldn’t be happening if it were not for Soros’ money is to insult those people who are expressing righteous anger and frustration over the system and its inability to present a credible choice for the people.
Trump was NOT elected because he was seen as the White Knight who was going to free the oppressed. Trump was elected because Hillary was a known factor who could not be trusted. And, with Trump’s checkered past and his harsh comments, it also puts his trust worthiness into doubt also.
So, lets not make Trump a hero because his opposition was worse than him. He is already appointing worn out people to the most important posts. Most of his possible appointees carry just as much baggage as he does — don’t expect any real changes.
Let’s just hope that in future elections the people are given a real choice and do not have to determine whose “poop” smells worse, that of an elephant, or that of a donkey.

The main thing the Dems did wrong over the last 8 years was that they rapidly started to faithfully believe in their own BS.
Think back to before the start of the Obama admin, and really before Obama was a major figure. How much of our collective public attention was focused on issues of race? Fast forward to now. Race is tearing parts of the country apart, and whenever an incident happens between people, race of the participants is the very first thing examined every time. We have the Dems to thank for that, full stop.
I don’t know how much of Trump’s program he really meant, and how much of it he will be able to push through (though he really does have a good chance the way things are structured). But if nothing else, he should do a LOT better job than Clinton of nominating to the supreme court, and we don’t have an unindicted multiple felon in the WH. Those two are near the top of my list of things to be thankful for as I prepare to have a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family.
Final note: Trump is looking like another big spender, meaning that SHTF is probably still just around the corner. I think he bought us a little time, but not long. Gawd, I wish I was ready to bug out now. I would. It is going to get medieval at some point.

To blame one person for many of this country’s problems is to mislead the people. One single person may have power, but their power is not absolute. ALL billionaires, whether you know it or not, contribute to the decadency of this country. Many of these billionaires remain behind the scenes and not to indict them along with Soros is to do a disservice to the people.
