Editor’s Comment: As President Trump continues to be the anti-Ron Paul of the Republican Party, the sidelined former Congressman and 2008/2012 upstart presidential candidate is calling out the commander in chief for his recent support for arresting (and perhaps even executing) Julian Assange, who has been sequestered away in the Ecuadorian embassy for some 5 years after starting a revolution of revelations through his Wikileaks activism.
Not only does Trump seemingly have Wikileaks to thank for his election victory – after leaking emails, corrupt activities inside the DNC, and exposing the unsavory machinations and odd activities tied (however loosely) to the Clintonian sphere of politics – but he publicly praised Assange on the campaign trail. “I love Wikileaks,” candidate Donald Trump said on October 10th on the campaign trail. He praised the organization for reporting on the darker side of the Hillary Clinton campaign. It was information likely leaked by a whistleblower from within the Clinton campaign to Wikileaks.
Back then he praised Wikileaks for promoting transparency, but candidate Trump looks less like President Trump every day. The candidate praised whistleblowers and Wikileaks often on the campaign trail. In fact, candidate Trump loved Wikileaks so much he mentioned the organization more than 140 times in the final month of the campaign alone! Now, as President, it seems Trump wants Wikileaks founder Julian Assange sent to prison.
Last week CNN reported, citing anonymous “intelligence community” sources, that the Trump Administration’s Justice Department was seeking the arrest of Assange and had found a way to charge the Wikileaks founder for publishing classified information without charging other media outlets such as the New York Times and Washington Post for publishing the same information.
It might have been tempting to write off the CNN report as “fake news,” as is much of their reporting, but for the fact President Trump said in an interview on Friday that issuing an arrest warrant for Julian Assange would be, “OK with me.”
Trump’s condemnation of Wikileaks came just a day after his CIA Director, Michael Pompeo, attacked Wikileaks as a “hostile intelligence service.” Pompeo accused Assange of being “a fraud — a coward hiding behind a screen.”
Pompeo’s word choice was no accident. By accusing Wikileaks of being a “hostile intelligence service” rather than a publisher of information on illegal and abusive government practices leaked by whistleblowers, he signaled that the organization has no First Amendment rights. Like many in Washington, he does not understand that the First Amendment is a limitation on government rather than a granting of rights to citizens. Pompeo was declaring war on Wikileaks.
But not that long ago Pompeo also cited Wikileaks as an important source of information. In July he drew attention to the Wikileaks release of information damaging to the Clinton campaign, writing, “Need further proof that the fix was in from President Obama on down?”
There is a word for this sudden about-face on Wikileaks and the transparency it provides us into the operations of the prominent and powerful: hypocrisy.
The Trump Administration’s declaration of war on whistleblowers and Wikileaks is one of the greatest disappointments in these first 100 days. Donald Trump rode into the White House with promises that he would “drain the swamp,” meaning that he would overturn the apple carts of Washington’s vested interests. By unleashing those same vested interests on those who hold them in check – the whistleblowers and those who publish their revelations – he has turned his back on those who elected him.
Julian Assange, along with the whistleblowers who reveal to us the evil that is being done in our name, are heroes. They deserve our respect and admiration, not a prison cell. If we allow this president to declare war on those who tell the truth, we have only ourselves to blame.

What if everyone not pleased with their program simply opened up multiple browser windows (5-7) and played lengthy unmonetized original content in high definition every time the computer was used? Unmonetized video yields no revenue but chews up bandwidth.

First of all I have an internet data cap, so I cannot afford to stream 5-7 videos at once.
Second, just because the creators effort has been demonetized, does not mean youtube is not making money off it.
An hr of 1080HD is about 1 gigabyte. I see plans from 250GB to 1TB per month. With cable modem I can keep a max of 15 going at a time (some windows freeze or reset ) but 8-10 is doable. DSL is much more limited.
If people were to see what their plan limits and speeds were, they could alter the number of tabs open and the playback quality settings of the video played and still trade their unused bandwidth for a vote of no confidence.

Sweden is on one of just 3 countries remaining on Earth that will allow sexual cases to be heard behind CLOSED DOORS, and after said trial, the verdict is announced to the public.

I agree. This is a great disappointment. I knew Trump was a deal maker, but I did not think he would cave into the globalist camp so quickly. Assange is a true hero, selfless, courageous, more than anyone out there. If anything happens to him, I will never again vote for Trump. I also love Ron Paul. I have been a fan of his for many years, and I am not even a constituent. His article is spot on, and I trust him 100%. So what can we do now? Perhaps there will be a follow-up article?
If that were the case why is he still alive? Assange being alive allows the police state to get bigger and stronger, dead he would confirm all he has exposed and make him a martyr. Although wikileaks MAY have gotten some traction for President trump, that does not mitigate the fact that wikileaks is only out for themselves. Ron Paul is a private citizen an he is doing his job, but Trump is President of the United States, and he is doing his job as well. Julian Assange is someone who would not hesitate to release information that our government, of which Trump is now CEO, considers classified.
As much as Ron Paul would like Trump to act like some kind of 3rd party referee he cannot do that. He is President of the US, and his job is to follow the laws of the US. There is probable cause that Julian Assange, has violated the laws of the US. That is what is needed to arrest him. If they can make a case, it should be brought before a jury. Trump being a good guy is making sure Assange gets a fair trial (which would undoubtedly result in acquittal) and providing a presidential pardon if he is convicted. Giving the bad guys on both sides of the aisle (the vast majority) grounds to impeach Trump for treason when they are the ones conspiring with globalists, does not help us. Everyone who knows what Ron Paul believes could have written this letter for him, almost word for word. I voted for him and love him, but he never got anything done, besides paving the way for Trump. Trump got elected, and TPP died, the coal industry was saved, and a we got a good Supreme Court Justice. We need to tell him what we want, but not despair if we don’t get it right off the bat.
