The professor and historian who accurately predicted the last nine presidential election outcomes is now predicting that Donald Trump’s impeachment is “inevitable.” The American University history professor said Democrats wouldn’t have gone this far if they weren’t confident they’d get the outcome they desire.
Allan Lichtman, who forecast Trump’s election win two months before the fact, told MSNBC yesterday that Democrats would never have taken the impeachment process this far if they were not confident of passing articles of impeachment against the president.
Speaking on the Weekends with Alex Witt show, Lichtman also said that Democrats had “helped themselves” and “diminished” Trump’s chances of being reelected in 2020 by launching an impeachment inquiry. “Impeachment is now inevitable,” Lichtman told Alex Witt. “The Democrats would never have taken it this far—we know how cautious Nancy Pelosi is—without actually voting articles of impeachment in the full house,” he said according to a report by Newsweek.

Lichtman says “Tthe only question is the scope and content of those articles [of impeachment].” He did add: “But I can tell you that Democrats, by finally growing a spine, and moving forward on a pretty clear impeachment… have helped themselves,” he told MSNBC. “When Donald Trump becomes only the third American president to be impeached by the full House, that scandal key will have flipped against him, and diminished his chances for reelection.”
He also warned Democrats against putting a “time limit” on Trump’s impeachment. “There are some critical lessons here. Democrats, are you listening? The Nixon model shows you cannot put a time limit on impeachment. The Nixon investigation started out by looking at the Watergate burglary, and look what else they found over time. Illegal campaign contributions. Illegal wiretaps. Illegal break-ins.”
The latest predictions from Lichtman come ahead of further public impeachment inquiry hearings this week, following explosive testimonies from former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, State Department official George Kent and the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine Bill Taylor last week.

I disagree that Trump will be ousted from office. The entire gang of “representives” are all thoroughly corrupt. Nothing will change advantageous to the people, in fact the complete opposite is planned no matter who the lying bozo at the top pretends to be. Impeachment doesn’t necessarily mean removed from office. He’s just saying that it would hurt his reelection chances in 2020. Even if impeached, then Senate would have to remove – which is unlikely.
Whether or not the Senate removes him from office, he’s running scared. First president to be convicted of a felony- that will be his legacy.

Mr Lichtman’s thesis here is far from ‘Bullet Proof’.
While he indeed has had a remarkable run of correct predictions regarding Presidential elections his assertion that the “Democrats would not have taken it this far…without actually voting Articles of Impeachment in the full House.” is based on exactly what?
Aside from the “Tempest in a Teapot” occuring under Mr Schiff currently in the House where he has – clearly – appointed himself as Judge, Jury and Executioner in the ersatz impeachment process he has initiated which simply continues and further propagates the Democrats abyssmal record (initiated under Mr Mueller’s tenure as Special Prosecutor) of being – actually – able to successfully produce ANY plausible evidence capable of even fractionally impugning a wildly popular (amongst his base, main street America), sitting President I think it FAR more likely that Ms Pelosi’s aim here is quite a bit different than Mr Lichtman asserts.
Consider that the rabidly activist mrntality consuming the Democratic base leaves the Speaker with very, very little wiggle room in the current ongoing travesty of due process. Why?
Simply put here if Ms Pelosi cannot throw the Democratic base a bone the she’s instantly a pariah among her own base. To be sure…she has very specific respondibilities associated with the office she currently holds but has snyone actually noticed how FAR in the background she’s standing in this process? Point in fact, she’s clearly allowing ‘Shifty’ Schiff to front run the entire show thus far, thus far hence giving her the ‘appearance’ of executing her proper responsibilities as SotH without leaving her in a position where she goes down in flames WITH Schiff IF he fails. Effectively, her play thus far leaves her just the margin to distance herself from any such result.
Mr Lichtman characterizes Pelosi as ‘cautious’…I’d characterize her in another way, ‘wily’. She does just enough to validate her image in the eyes of her base while letting Schiff tie the knot and then hang the rope around his own neck…with her performance thus far giving her full, plausible deniability relative to Schiff’s actions when the impeachment process is guillotined in the Senate.
That said, in the unlikely case that the Senate failed to execute it’s proper duties and – from the Democrats perspective – ‘miraculously’ voted to uphold the action in the House then rather clearly, the Will of the People would have been shown to wholly irrelevant to those We have appointed to hold the reins of Authority in this country and the 243 year old compact which binds We the People, to otherwise respect the civil governance We ourselves have appointed, is Null and Void.
Those attempting to conceal thier past perfidy(s) and utterly self-serving greed while acting as Our representatives of this Nation would do well to consider the words of Justice Brandeis of the Supreme Court many decades ago,

There is no doubt that there will be articles of impeachment and there is no doubt that they will pass in Congress. When it gets to the Senate is when it counts. The Senate will not vote to remove. End of story. Then what? It is what happens after that everyone should be concerned about.

There’s little doubt the Democrats can pass articles of impeachment. Republicans were able to impeach Clinton – of course, they did have poof of lying to Congress. He was still reelected – the Senate didn’t convict. The impeachment may even have helped. Given the surge in campaign contributions and a rise to over fifty percent in popularity polls, the Democrat impeachment effort may have a similar effect on 2020. And I get over a half dozen emails from Pelosi a day cheering me up with her wailing that they’re losing, going broke and that money is pouring into the Republican campaign. They’re even losing minority voters! I think they’ve caught themselves in a monkey jar trap of their own making. They’ve grabbed Impeachment, they can’t let go, and it has stalled everything else they could be doing to make themselves electable.
