If there’s one thing we know about how the US government operates, it’s that the American people are often the last to know about serious problems that may be taking place behind the scenes.
This week, in a move that has spooked a lot of economic and financial analysts, President Barack Obama held a special, closed door meeting with the heads of the U.S. government’s financial, monetary and oversight agencies. It included members of the Federal Reserve, the FDIC, the CFTC, the SEC, and the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
This has left many wondering what is really going on – and if a serious event is about to take place yet again.
I guess I’m always unnerved as a result of what happened in April, the last time the President of the United States had a meeting with all of the bank heads, and two days later the price of gold was smashed for over $200.
Now, the President is meeting with all of the heads of the various agencies, institutions, the Fed, and all of the other key money entities in the United States today. What’s that all about?
But clearly if the President is having this meeting, there is a crisis unfolding somewhere in the background, and it could very well relate to the dollar, interest rates, and the massive derivatives market associated with interest rates…

This surge in interest rates may have already seriously destabilized the entire financial system, and that’s why there is this meeting taking place in the White House today. The fact is that the vast majority of derivatives in the global financial system are related to interest rates.
Now, the entire financial system may be on the precipice of some sort of catastrophic event unfolding because of what we have already seen in the bond market, and how the derivatives are so heavily intertwined. Meaning, we may be on the verge of another disastrous derivatives meltdown.

Now, as the President meets with a veritable who’s who of government finance, lending and monetary policy one can’t help but think something is amiss.

There are structural problems within the financial system that stem from the removal of the Glass-Stegall Act some years ago, that with the lack of proper oversight by government officials, has failed to address these weaknesses since the crash.
A move has been afoot in Congress by Senators Warren and McLame to re-introduce a new GS Act. There are also a lot of behind the scenes manuvering regarding the appointment of a new FED Chairman. My take is that O’bummer is trying to 1) avoid a second leg down, from which it would be harder to recover; 2) Lay the ground work for Rules and Regs for the re-introduction of GS; and 3) Develop a consensus on a new FED Chairman and the way forward for a financial re-structuring.
By getting all of these “stakeholders” in the room together to develop a “consensus” he can blame the “committee” if their recommendations fail.

The removal of the restrictions caused by that Act, which was put into place after the Great Depression, did not cause the economic issues we find ourselves in now, nor did its enactment solve the issues of the Great Depression. Additionally, the initial institutions that failed, triggering this economic meltdown, were investment institutions only.
Expecting there to be “proper government oversight” is a pipe dream. Why do people keep on expecting the government to watch their investments for them. These are YOUR investments, it is your job to watch over the bank or financial institution that has your money. When we expect the government to do our job for us, we lose our rights.

The Economy will never be what it was during its hay day! The New era is here and this generation will have to do with a lot less. No economy will be healthy without a middle class and it is gone! First of all DK, you should get your facts straight. If you actually paid attention to the events around economic issues you would know that GS was repealed in 1999, and not the 80s.
Second, I can’t give all the answers, no one can, but I can provide a few: 1) remove the dollar from its fiat status, and have it backed by something with value (most would suggest gold), better would be to just use that backing substance as currency. 2) Remove the Federal Reserve’s ability to arbitrarily set interest rates, this would mostly be taken care of in the first step. This would allow interest rates to more accurately relate to people whether they should save or spend. 3) Get the government out of the way. Removing restricting laws, such as Sarbanes-Oxley, will allow for innovation and creativity to play a larger part in growing an economy. There are a few ideas, I can provide more if you desire.
Third, since you seem convinced that “too big to fail” exists, can you provide some detail as to what point does a company become “too big to fail.” Also, explain why the collapse of Enron, at the time one of the largest energy companies in the world, did not result in a massive energy crisis. An explanation of how the repeal of GS resulted in “too big to fail” would be in order as well, considering Lehman Bros. and Goldman Sachs were investment banks only.

Itsallbs: I have addressed a gold back dollar here many times. Under Free Trade the wealth of America has been transferred offshore: first OUR factories and now OUR dollars.
If the dollar were backed by gold, OUR gold (if there’s any in Ft Knox)would follow OUR dollars offshore as it did in the 70’s when Nixon cut the cord.
Until there is a Fair Trade System in place globally, backing dollars with gold would be a huge mistake. As it is China is holding paper and OUR promise to pay; not OUR gold.
American workers are the most productive in the world. In a Fair Trade system jobs would flow to the USA.
Second and Third world countries are undercutting American productivity with manipulated currencies and cheap labor.
Sarbane-Oxley is the result of the Enron FRAUD. When management is held liable for company reporting, as they should be, there is more transparency for investors. This transparency in American corporations is one of the major reason that OUR markets are so prosperous. Investors have some assurance that the analysis they make and the risk they take has some fundamental basis in fact.
I do not personally believe that companies can be “too BIG too fail”, but the Gangster banksters would like you to believe so.
Glass-Stegall allowed the Commercial Banks to merge retail banking and investment banking operations under one roof. With that change the GB’s had access to trillions of dollars of depositor funds with which to gamble in the financial markets, and they did.
Goldman Sachs sought refuge so that they could access the FED window and borrow tens of billions of dollars, line up for the TARP bailout money, and benefit from QE for all of the toxic assets that they held and had sold to unsuspecting investors. Without the ability to borrow money and buy the toxic assets back, Goldman Sacks would have been sued into oblivion.

Ok DK, you and I agree on one thing: we both do not think there is any gold in Ft. Knox or the NY Reserve Bank. I do have to apologize, I am new to this sight and have not read all of your previous posts on a return to the gold standard (just so you know, I am not advocating a new gold standard if the Fed is still in existence). If the US is the most productive country in the world then gold would not flow out of the US, but rather back into the country, assuming tariffs (high or low) are not put into place.
I am trying to figure out your argument here: in one stance you say that the removal of GS resulted in “too big to fail,” and thus GS should be re-instated. Then you say that “too big to fail” doesn’t exist, which would then make a new GS irrelevant. So which is it. I like having intellectual debates, but it is very difficult when one does not make consistent arguments.
Also, when you state that Goldman Sachs was just seeking TARP money and QE money, you confirm my 2nd point, so thank you. TARP and QE money would not be possible without interest rates that are arbitrarily set by the Federal Reserve. No one in their right mind would have “lent” money to GS or Lehman Bros. in 2008, without a ridiculously high interest rate.
As far as the US having the most prosperous markets…really? The DJIA has a return of ~17% from 2007-2013, against a 12.7% inflation rate (CPI) over that same period, for an annual return of less than 1%. Also, Sarbanes-Oxley clearly has not protected the markets from crashes, so much for increased “transparency.”
I would like to read what this Fair Trade System is; and is this fair trade system actually fair to others, or is it just advantageous for the US. It would also be entertaining to read what your solutions are, as you seem to enjoy telling others they are wrong (poor arguments aside), but you don’t seem to have any ideas of your own.

Then no sooner did we finish the cat food meal…A couple chicks stopped by to say hello etc and seen is finsihing the last bites so them girls offered to buy a few groceries for us till checks came in!
Wish them two girls would have come over 15 minits sooner eh!…You get real hungry and even dry cat food is good to eat. Cats like it right! Stores for Years also!

I work for Ross and have done so just about 3 months. I have seen it so busy that we could barely keep up and now it has come to a stand still. Even the people who do come in rarely spend more then 20 dollars. Our hours have been severely cut. We are all reeling trying to figure out what to do. We can’t possible live on 12 hours a week. Even the people that were there since the store opened are getting the same hours that I am. Seriously we are in for a very big drop and not sure who is going to be able to survive. We are in serious trouble and all ya hear is the economy is great and getting better. Will I see what is going on first hand and it ain’t pretty folks get prepared seriously!

Since you will be using it indoors, you can buy the cheap birdshot 7 1/2-8 shot. It will put a deadly nasty hole in someone at 10-20 feet.
6 shot or more 7 and 8 are half brass and when your shotgun get hot in a fight. They will screw up and you will die.
I shot a door with my 18.5′ shotgun from about 10 ft away, kinda like a test shot, and birdshot put a nice hole about 3-4″ diameter through it. In my house buckshot would end up in the livingroom messing stuff up if I ever shot it in the house. But then again if there are more than one assailants in my house I guess that isn’t too bad of a thing. lol

He will be able to buy 3-4 boxes of 7-8 shot(75-100 rounds) to 10-15 rounds (comes in 5 round box)of 00 buck or slugs. Also he did not state what brand, model and how many shell the mag holds. Hell, he might have a single shot. But more likely a pump which will cycle anything without getting the chamber hot enough to hold on to the brass base of the shells or melt the plastic.

Oct 2008 gold went down to about $700 oz. and by April 2009 back up to $1000 which is probably as low as it will dip during the next crisis. The price rise will be awesome after that because a lot more people will not trust paper anymore and physical supply will become tight quickly.

I completely see your point. The purchasing of G and S is for when things settle down a bit. I believe that we are most likely going to back on the gold standard when the fiat money system we have now goes kapoot as they all have in the past in other countries. G and S will rapidly gain in value at that juncture. The things you mentioned should be addressed first – food – water – protection instruments etc. G and S is for when barter gives way to more normal commerce – paying bills when all those services are restored. The politicians, derived from lawyers, for the most part, have no useful, productive skill or contribution to make to society. That is why they become lawyers/politicians in the first place.
They know that if they lose their jobs (“profession”) they are helpless, because they depend totally on the productive middle class for their needs- from food to health care, from transportation to shelter.
They therefore protect their “jobs” by every means at their disposal. You can never sue a lawyer for example. (I tried, and even when the trial court recognized legal malpractice by my attorneys, sufficient to defeat any motion for summary judgment, my right to trial to produce my evidence in court was denied based on an archaic precedent case from a lower court, even when more recent case law and state supreme court ruling on the matter was available. One of the lawyers, Harold Huddleston, had a brother who was a KY state senator, so you can see how that works. But I digress.) On a grander scale, you can see that none of the bank fraud has been investigated by the DOJ. Corzine et al walk free.
For a politician to be secure in his job, he must get reelected. Hence the definition of a politician: One who seeks re-election.
To get re elected, the politician has to make promises, -and pay for them. In the past, taxes covered a lot of this pork spending. Even through world wars and Vietnam, etc when taxes weren’t enough, the govt could always borrow, until around 1971 when the final act that of debasing the currency and printing commenced. Now the only buyer of government bonds appears increasingly to be the Fed. This window of paying by printing is coming to a close.
The public will never refuse a free lunch, which is why Obama was elected/re elected. In other words the public will vote itself a free lunch.
A fractional reserve banking system, combined with a Federal Reserve cartel has enabled politicians to spend freely, which gets them re elected. Politicians have thus been under banking control.
But once a politician gets re elected and has the pork mill up and running, he becomes a magnet for corporate influence money. The politician gets rich while in office, and the corporations and banks get favored treatment in return. Even if initial laws appear to go against corporations in order to appease the public, the politicians will always accommodate the corporations through the back door by using loopholes buried in unrelated legislation. Thus the fascist state evolves.
Many of these military industrial corporations profit through wars. Military manufacturing corporations win generous contracts from the government. Banks loan money to governments to finance wars and also make money. The young, either unemployed and unable to find work, or thinking of the “benefits” they will receive for a career of militarry service, or just plain sense of patriotic duty to their country, drink the Koolaid and enlist- as cannon fodder to be expended on the battlefields for the politicians, banks and corporations.
And that, folks is a simplified version of why we are doomed.

Please remember to buy a few Zippo style lighters also, remember the extra flints and wicks. You can get them to fire up on almost any flammable liquid. You can find them at flea markets for < $20.
If buying alcohol for trade, look at the 750 ml PLASTIC bottles that are called "travelers". These suckers are 'tougher-than-woodpecker-lips', almost impossible to break. Less of a selection than what you will find in glass bottles though.
Oil lamps and extra wicks are also a good investment for future barter use. There are lids available for canning jars that have been converted into lamp mechanisms.
Think outside the box. Barter/trade goods are where lots of folks miss the proverbial 'boat' ….. they don't have any.

Sorry to have to disagree with ya. I have been studying the rapture scriptures for over 40 years now and this is how I came to the pre-trib conclusion. I know that there are those who will disagree due to theological interpretations but I have come down on the pre-trib theology. I will bring up just one of many reasons so as not to be too long winded. The whole theory of the rapture is based on imminency from the day Jesus died. No man will know the day or the hour but will know the season as they are of the light. Now we know exactly the day the trib will begin – the day that the covenant is confirmed with the many. We also know exactly how many days the trib will last as it is given to us the exact mid point to the day. If we know these things and the exact length of the trib then we could at any point during the trib calculate the exact timing of the end to the day. This fact destroys imminency for the rapture to occur at any time during the tribulation due to simple arithmatic. If one knows two points then the third can be projected given distance – dirrection and time.
Trust me – I have looked at this for over 40 years and have set my course on this point. One thing I would add however is that one should be prepared to go at any time – just in case. This takes all the guess work out of it.

The rapture didn’t rescue the Christians in Nazi Germany or the USSR. You don’t know that it will come in time to rescue you now. Plan for “a time, times and a half a time” beyond what you expect.
I never agree with “Them Guys” but he/she is sort of right about the origin of the rapture doctrine. A young woman had a dream and told her pastor about it, who in turn told Scofield. As taught today it is not a classical church doctrine (unlike the return of Christ which comes directly from scripture) but an innovation from the 19th C. The only place anything like the word ‘rapture’ is mentioned in scripture is when Paul says that those who remain until Christ returns will be “caught up” to meet Him in the air. Anything more on the rapture than that scripture is a tradition of men.
Revelation 13 is addressed to the church with words of warning to the Christians who are in the Great Tribulation. Read it and take it to heart.

Being a Christian never exempted one from dying. Dying does not matter. It is where you go after the event that matters. We are just passers through on this world and out time here is just a blink of the eye in the grand scheme of things.
I agree with Perry Stone on the rapture theology. He looks at the event from the Jewish point of view relating to the event and the jewish wedding ceremony. I would urge you to look deeper on the subject and you will see what I mean. The “word” rapture is not mentioned but the term is in other words. It took a lot of digging and studying the greek and hebrew language to fully understand what was being said. Take for instance the commandment – “thou shalt not kill” scripture in the KJV. When you research the greek and hebrew on the scripture you find that it actually says that thou shalt not murder. Murder is defined as the “taking of innocent blood”. One who is attacking you is not considered innocent and therefore it is permissable to defend oneself even to the point of killing if that is the only resort that is left to you. Things like this are subjects that I have studied extensively as I did not want to offend God by the comission of a grave sin. What did Jesus tell the disciples – if you do not own a sword – go and sell your cloak and buy one. Swords are not for eating.

I have read that the #4 rods stored on the top floor of the reactor are rapidly going to critical. It was said that all the mechanical means for removing the rods were destroyed and that they are now going to have to remove them by hand with manpower alone. It was also said that if some misshap occured and one of the 1300 rods got close to another that a chain reaction would ensue which could not be stopped. Then the other reactors #1,2,3 would be in danger as well creating a Chernobyl like event only very much larger. I do not know if this is good information or not BUT I would suggest that we all keep an eye on this move to remove the rods manually. Sometime we do not know what information to trust anymore but this is the noise on the street. It was also said that those removing the rods would be exposed to large doses of radiation as they removed the rods. Do we trust such people under threat of death with this sort of delicate task? Maybe prayers for them and for us would be in order if all of this is true. I am just watching as this is all I can do except pray.
What’s sad is that the poor folks who go in to take those rods away WILL DIE. It is a death mission and I highly doubt any of the fockers responsible for this stupidity will be the ones going in. We must remember those who sacrifice for their fellow man to ‘stop’ this disaster.

Tepco will be building a crane over the rod pool but yes, it will be operated manually. If rods bang together, disaster could happen. If one breaks, disaster could happen. If one falls, disaster could happen. These rods are buried haphazardly among other debris and must be carefully removed, one by one. If this isn’t hard enough, it must be done over 1300 times! Crews will be continually rotated to both lower their exposure and to keep them alert. Best case scenario, within two years the rods will be out, and the Japanese will suffer various cancers and tumors for generations. Worse case scenario, northern Japan will become a no-mans land, and human life, at least in the northern hemisphere, won’t be the same for generations.
If they do go critical and start venting into the atmosphere this will indeed be a very bad thing. People in Oregon and Washington State may be in for some bad things. Unless of course this is just another scare story.

I think that sometime in October is when the shtf economically. I am picking up tid-bits here and there on the news and the web in general and this is just my theory. Metals have been devalued. Now, back to my October theory…I read an article on Bloomberg that a company called Randgold is preparing to open and begin mining in Africa. It is projected to have one of the largest gold reserves yet. (side note: as Rand is short for research and development I see Rand-gold as the same). Anyway, Germany is one of the shareholders? benificeries of the company…mabey they are not too worried about the money the Fed is holding for them. The next is the new $100 bill. It was supposed to come out in October of this year and was scheduled to do so UNTIL they found another problem again and postponed it. The new $100 bill has symbolism that suggest mabey going back to a gold standard but that is conspiracy theory. Interest rates rising is going to crush the people in ways they don’t realize…yet. Anyway, somehow I think this ties together but I can’t put my finger on HOW. My intuition tells me October and not much time is left. What is really spooky is the claim that the Syrians attacked their own people with gas. US, France, UK and Germany are just itching for a war and with the accusation of Assad gassing his own people…things could really be speeding up. Just My Opinion.

But soldiers need to eat, they need supplies, they need transportation, they need to sleep, they need medical care, etc. No, 10 years and they may get it done. I recently read that in the original u. s. constitution there was an amendment that barred lawyers from running for public office of any kind. That is not correct. The fed charter ended at the end of 2012. It has not been renewed. The fed has essentially been taken over by the government already. We speak of having preps for 90 days plus, but it is a fact that there is not ever going to be enough bullets, beans or bandaids.
My family and I have a strong support network of like minded folks that numbers well over 100 men and women. I am well trained in desert survival, combat operations and have significant combat experience as do many of our network. I am still scared shitless of the reality of the hell we may very well be entering right here on earth.
It will turn into gang warfare and the strong will survive, but no one will thrive.
During the depression of the 30’s we were a much better behaved “civilization”, people had honor and had a strong sense of what is right and wrong. People were much more self-reliant and had a desire to help there fellow man. I recently read an article that said 70% of our population that do not prep now, have intentions of stealing and pillaging in the event of some type of catastrophic meltdown from those of us who do.

Japan to issue gravest Fukushima nuclear warning in two years:
Japan will dramatically raise its warning about the severity of a toxic radioactive water leak at the Fukushima nuclear plant, its nuclear watchdog said on Wednesday, its most serious action since the plant was destroyed in 2011. The deepening crisis at the Fukushima plant will be upgraded from a level 1 “anomaly” to a level three “serious incident” on an international scale for radiological releases, a spokesman for Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) said. That will mark the first time Japan has issued a warning on the International Nuclear Event Scale (INES) since the three reactor meltdowns.
Reports from Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO), operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, say that measurements of radioactive tritium in seawater — seeping out of the nuclear complex via groundwater into the sea — show levels at 4700 becquerels per liter, the highest tritium level in the measurement history. The highest tritium levels have come in the past 15 days, the same reports show. TEPCO also revealed that the highest levels of radiation in seawater were detected near reactor 1. Previous measurements showed the levels at 3800 becquerels per liter near reactor 1, and 2600 becquerels per liter near reactor 2, but the measurements have been showing increased radiation levels in the past 2 weeks.
Japan’s crippled Fukushima nuclear plant is preparing to remove 400 tons of highly irradiated spent fuel from a damaged reactor building, a dangerous operation that has never been attempted before on this scale. Containing radiation equivalent to 14,000 times the amount released in the U.S. atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima, more than 1,300 used fuel rod assemblies packed tightly together need to be removed from a building that is vulnerable to collapse, should another large earthquake hit the area. Tokyo Electric Power Co (Tepco) is already in a losing battle to stop radioactive water overflowing from another part of the facility, and experts question whether it will be able to pull off the removal of all the assemblies successfully.

All three reactors at Fukushima-Daichi are out of control and will continue their slow nuclear burn for hundreds if not thousands of years. At this point in time, the three reactors have burned through the steel reactor vessels, burned through the concrete floor of the reactor chamber, burned through the reactor building sub-floor, and are now burning through the earth below the reactor buildings. The reactors have hit groundwater in the soil below the reactor buildings and are making this groundwater boil, with resulting bubbling of the intensely radioactive groundwater up to the ground surface of the nuclear installation.
TEPCO [Tokyo Electric Power Company] has constructed a concrete wall around the reactor buildings in an attempt to contain the bubbling radioactive groundwater, but now the water is flowing over the concrete barrier, into the Pacific Ocean, at the rate of 300 tons per day, according to the Japanese Government. Since these people have lied consistently about Fukushima, it is a safe bet that this reported 300 tons of “hot” water per day is hysterically underestimated. As a consequence, the entire Pacific Ocean will become uninhabitable for marine life in a few years. We are already seeing extreme mutations in some marine life forms from this uncontrollable dumping of radioactive water into the Pacific.

I have been hearing a lot of trolling around about calling the wise people that prepare Doomtards or other asinine names. Everybody has a right to their opinion, that is what the 1st Amendment guarantees. What is in question here is not whether someone believes that something is going to happen or not, it is whether they actually act on their very own personal interests and prepare for something WHEN it happens to them.
Someone that fails to prepare will suffer, it happens all the time. Those that had the money and failed to purchase an electric back up generation suffered in the millions from no way of cooling themselves when power goes out for days or weeks. Those whom failed to store up food and other necessitites ended up in Red Cross or FEMA lines waiting for handouts, many hours often. Those whom failed to even fill up their vechicles fuel tanks suffered by waiting in lines in some far and away place from their homes. Could have stored up some gas in plastic gas containers. Whom is the tard?
It could just be that certain individuals enjoy playing devil’s advocate, that is not bad because it gets others to think. Name calling because an individual doesn’t like what someone is saying is just being a brat, a noisy screaming little child or a screaming Macaw bird wanting attention. Instead of attempting to strike up a good healthy debate to make many others think, they rather just say something that a elementry kid would say and get their comment collapsed. There are some very intelligent people here and when someone presents a good argument to an issue people listen and talk back. This is what is called constructive talk.

I can go into many reasons WHY this is different this time, and I have many times. When Russia and China are positioning themselves for all out conventional and non-conventional war? Why would anyone be not taking what is happening in the world seriously?
A person can be a doubting Thomas all they want, but since 2005 there have been many records broken that show something is wrong. The extremes are getting more extreme. Worst radiation disaster ever, worst oil disaster ever, most powerful deep focus earthquake ever, most powerful Japanese earthquake ever recorded, most powerful and largest tornado ever recorded, most powerful north landing hurricane every recorded, most powerful ever Atlantic hurricane, and lowest pressure ever, ever recorded with Hurricane Wilma, some of the worst flooding ever recorded. These are NOT chicken little’s they are freaking real, and those in the path of any of these that did not prepare were F’ed.
I suggest to those that troll look into your own lives about just how well prepared your personal well being is. IF you are not well prepared, then you should be asking those out there that know what they are talking about how to better get ready. Just remember, you have been lucky not to be nailed by a SHTF event YET. I am an admirer of your postings, have been for quite some time, you are accurate, timely, and straight to the point. Regarding trolls, we have precious little time, to waste going after these “plants”, or “mis-information” types it is counter productive, the best thing to do, for all of us, is to label them a troll, regular posters will see the label and will steer clear of them. Your postings are far too critical at this point to be sidetracked by a handful of good nazis, and like it or not, this is what our government has become.
Regarding the article about a possible coming financial catastrophe, even in my small circles, I have been hearing rumors, lots of them, timing is set for late September early October, I pray they are wrong.

Here in the UK, the welfare system is set for a minor “reset” with the introduction of Universal Credit in October. I mention it, simply because the Central bankers don’t like us to realise that events are being carefully synchronised and orchestrated, across the globe.
The UK’s welfare system is significant given that it is the home of “The City of London”, an autonomous region of the UK, where traditionally many of these bar stewards are head quartered. This is another chess piece in the global plantation plan being moved into place.
London is in the middle of a flood of EU immigration from those regions of Europe where the financial tsunami has already hit. This huge influx of people is fuelling yet another housing boom of poorly built tiny apartments at crazy prices. In many areas there are not enough school places etc to go round.
It’s seen as a safe haven for those seeking respite from the global turmoil taking place all over from Syria to Lithuania. Sadly however few have noticed that the ring of security we were told was just temporary for the Olympics, is in fact permanent. The UK authorities learnt from our last round of riots a couple of years back and now have the means to lock down the City, thereby protecting their own hides from the wrath of the people.
My son’s dad comes from a small town just 70 miles South of Chernobyl. Having seen the inter-generational impact of one nuclear environmental disaster on human health. Japan is a nation that is now a dead man walking in my unqualified layman’s opinion.
I get VERY angry that those brave souls who have given and continue to give their lives to protect mankind at Chernobyl do not receive the Universal acknowledgement that they deserve from across the globe. The truth of what’s happening in Japan is being even more obscured.

SHTF has happened in this country, regularly, it has happened to me personally in ’99. These were SHTF Lite events usually, hurricane and flood for me, tornado’s for others, the Detroit and LA riots, the depression, and going back in time, the Civil war was a major SHTF event for most southerners. Most DGI’s, don’t get, that civilization is a fragile veneer over the soul of animals.
Just saw “Gone with the Wind” again… had forgotten what a SHTF movie that was, it was about the destruction of an entire civilization, to be replaced with the yankee version.
It was a real wake up call. Only this time, the yankees are the Globalist Nazi’s, and we are all southerners.

I have never understood why everyone is not putting away food and other necessities, not necessarily for the mega SHTF events, but simply for the localized or personal nightmares that happen to most people sometime in their life. For someone to at least have non rotated items such as toilet paper, candles, sewing needs, white sugar, honey, fuel, etc, etc. etc. These items can be stored away and forgotten about until they are needed. Yet I see everyday survival items at garage sales all the time.
The issue of having a full pantry is gone with most people because they expect it to always be there when they need it at a store. Even if the stores always remain open, the personal problems never cease. I have known too many people that get sick with the flu or something and then have to borrow something from a neighbor or have a friend run to the market for them because they have nothing in the house. This makes no sense at all. Even when someone has supplies in the house and a mega SHTF event happens they are still going to fare better than someone with nothing at all. This gives them at least some time to survive.
I hear this over and over again about doomsayers. Really, does it hurt ANYONE to put away for tomorrow? The more you have the more time you have before having to search for food and other needs, the more time you can avoid getting into a hours long FEMA line. You would think having a tangible ready to use nest egg in your home in everyday needs would make anyone feel more secure. Go figure the human psyche.

Here in the UK it’s very common to walk into a home with an expensive leather suite in the lounge, a wide screen TV, stinking of over priced air freshener and yet find your hostess cannot offer you any repast as her kitchen cupboards are bare. Her bin however may contain several days worth of left overs, such is her appalling housekeeping.
The ability to buy tat on the never never has become more highly revered than having a few odds and sods put by to make a meal if the household routine is disrupted for any reason from bad weather to illness. Kidults is what we now have, where once grown ups raised their own children.
Our Grandmothers would have turned in their graves at such an occurrence, manners meant that simple hospitality was regarded as a basic necessity.

So some asked “what do you do when the two years of food funds out?” I explained that folks already garden, save seeds, cann, preserve, have chickens when possible, and that two years of food gives folks a chance to make sure they get a good harvest for sustainability.
Some light bulbs went off, but I think they dimmed as soon as the subject changed—except for the doc. He later said that his neighbor is an accountant and preps, but you would never know it. I may have turned one to the light yet!

@ PenCRNA. Wasn’t that a sight to watch, trees disappearing into the depths of the water? Sinkholes are very common when there is a decrease in the water table due to water being pumped out or drought, even if the underground water table shifts for some reason, including tectonic. When the water table is high there is less of a cavity for the above land to fall into. Water takes up space and you seldom see sinkholes during extreme times of flooding. However after flooding subsides these underground channels that have eroded more of a cavity, sinkholes will begin forming.
The methene gas bubble in the Gulf is always a concern. For what I have read is that the real emergency would be more off shore. The Weather Channel did a piece on what would happen if the gas ignited, fairly horrible. There could also be a pretty could size tsunami from such a gas bubble being released from the floor. This would be a large blob of mass rapidly coming to the surface. Kind of like a avalanche into the water. It could in the confines of the Gulf produce a 50 foot tsunami close by. The further away of course the tsunami would drop in size. The Canary Islands collapse would produce a massive tsunami nearby but by the time it reached the east coast it would be a few inches high to maybe 3-4 feet tops, is an example of the loss of kinetic energy over distance.
There was another earthquake on the Mid Atlantic Ridge that was directed towards the New Madrid. The New Madrid is believed to have an ancient fault border that extrends into Louisana and the Gulf. At this point I would guess the sinkhole had to do with water table changing.

Yesterday’s notification that NASDAQ stopped was one of the biggest warning signs we have seen yet. Also if you payed attention you saw where Goldman Sachhs got a do-over on trades they had made. All the trades were cancelled and they were able to take back their money.
