There is no doubt that President Obama’s health care system promises to fundamentally transform America. It’s been touted as the saving grace of the working class.
But how feasible is it really?
We know it’s essentially a wealth redistribution scheme that takes money from one group of people in the form of forced tax payments, only to shift that money into the pockets of those who didn’t earn it in the form of government subsidies to their health care premiums.
But like all universal programs, the promise of free anything only works so long as you don’t run out of other people’s money.
That being said, a basic analysis of how Obamacare premiums work across the spectrum of America’s wide ranging socio-economic population suggests that it’s dead on arrival.
Once the forced mandates take hold one of two outcomes become inevitable, as noted by The Market Ticker, whose Karl Denninger took a detailed look at the government’s county-by-county premium data.
The consequences of implementation will be disastrous.
Either the Obamacare system itself collapses under its own weight, or the U.S. economy falls apart because of the extreme burden being hoisted on those who are responsible for paying the bill.
Either way, we’re looking at an almost instantaneous collapse of one or the other.
It’s an exercise in basic arithmetic that those who failed to read the bill before passing it should have considered prior to pushing this on the American people by way of a new stealth tax… unless of course the further impoverishment of America is their ultimate goal.
There are several very interesting statistical facts that come from this.
First, if you’re “27”, the average premium is $266.20/month or $3,194.40 per year. How many 27 year olds have an extra $3,200 to spend on this? Remember, this is the price that virtually every uninsured 27 year old must be willing — and able — to cough up in order to prevent the model this system is predicated on from collapsing.
If those 27 year olds don’t show up, and they won’t, then the system collapses instantly. If they do show up because the government threatens them with fines the economy collapses as $3,200 a year exceeds the average 27 year old’s disposable personal income after mandatory expenses (e.g. food, shelter, etc.) Remember, there are always exceptions but these premiums are averages and over large pools of people the statistical averages are what matters — not the ends of the barbell.
It gets better. The “average” 50 year old premium, again, for single coverage, is $452.87, or $5,434.44/year. How many 50 year olds will find that attractive compared against what they’re paying now? Probably more of them, especially if they’re already sick. But how about the healthy ones?
Note two things as well on this account — these premiums are for non-smokers (smoker premiums are grossly surcharged with reports being 2x the above) and they do not account for anyone other than one person. If you are a single parent with kids (rather common) the premium on average is $610.23/month or about $7,300, and if you’re a couple it’s $647.86 (again, $7,774 annually.)
Now let’s look at the government’s own claims. First, the CPI index claims that health insurance is 0.656% of the family budget. What percentage of couples make $1.185 million a year? Why do I ask? Because that’s the alleged median income for a couple if you believe the government’s CPI numbers.
Yeah, right.
Next, while some people will get “tax credits” to offset these costs all that does is lard it up on the federal budget, because someone else has to pay that bill. In other words this is the true cost that will come out of your hide one way or another — either directly by paying, indirectly by taxation, or indirectly by destruction of your purchasing power.
Next, note that this is the “50 year old” premium but you have to be 65 to qualify for Medicare. The price will rise each year after 50 that you happen to be and there are already reports that if you’re 59 these premiums are understated by half. How many couples who are 59 and cannot qualify for Medicare yet have not $7,700 a year of extra money laying around but north of $15,000?

Yep, here in Florida some 300,000 people insured by BC/BS (Florida Blue) were just notified that their current plan would not meet the new requirements and that they were being terminated at the end of the year. They will have to go online and get a new plan at a higher price.

Retired Kentucky Teachers now REQUIRED to sign up for Obamacare or be without insurance.
I just got off the phone with a friend who is a retired teacher. Retired teachers are now REQUIRED to sign up for Obamacare or they will be without insurance. She taught for 35 years. KEA dues and teacher retirement took a substantial amount out of teacher paychecks.
First, I want to tell you that the emails we have been circulating that forecast the nightmare of Obamacare were TRUE! I’ve had people look me in the face and deny that what I was telling them would “never happen”.
Here are some highlights from her experience.
They HAD to take a flu shot before they were allowed to begin the registration process. Btw, this was a big event held at BSTSC Big Sandy for all retired teachers.
She said the process was invasive. She had to answer questions like “do you wear a seat belt?” “do you speed when you drive?”. I don’t know what that has to do with registering for insurance.
The people doing to registering were, also, very rude. She had to give out information about herself that was very private and has nothing to do with healthcare or insurance.
They were given a health assessment. I think that was were she had to give them information about herself.
They had to have a Vitality Check. In a room full of people, they were measured and weighed. People were told they were obese, etc. in front of this room full of people! My friend had given them her weight, during the health assessment. They weighed her as 4 pounds heavier than she had told them and they insinuated that she had lied to them. She was told what foods she needed to eat, exercise, etc. All of this in front of a room full of people.
They had to sign a Living Will Promise. That is where you promise to follow the guidelines you were given as a result of the Vitality Check. If you do not improve by the time you register again (for her that will be January – in three months), you will be bumped down to the lowest level of treatment.
Also, Obamacare is NOT good out of state. If you need to go to a hospital or a doctor in another state, you’re just out of luck. I know a lot of people who have to travel to other states to get care for their specific kind of cancer. What will happen to them?
Her comments were that this was socialism at its finest and smack of communism. She also, said that if you had a question about anything, those doing the registering would not give an answer.
I never thought I would see the day that American citizens would be treated this way, subjected to such degrading, demoralizing treatment.

Which candidate did the unions KEA/NEA back in the last two presidential elections? I believe it was Obama. The Kentucky Education Association (KEA) union backed Pro Obamacare Gov. Steve Beshear over Ernie Fletcher and David Williams. Steve Beshear has said that Obamacare is working “very well” in his state.

I agree that part of the plan for Obamacare was to sell the public on a one payer system. One administrative official was quoted (at the time the program was passed) as saying that he expected that it would make it possible to transition to a one payer system within 10 years. I think some politicians saw the potential disaster but supported it anyway because they wanted to take advantage of the eventual collapse.
The other problem is – much of the program was written by and catered to the insurance industry. Sebelius has significant ties to the insurance industry and few commentators have bothered to explore that. The insurance companies are raking in big bucks over this deal.

We had our rates jacked 40% by BC BS…after 10 years of on time payments (with an $11 K deductable)they did not pay one fucking cent of coverage to my wife and I….We live a healthy life.
There reason for canceling us was that they lumped us in with everyother human in our age group so we got “averaged in” just like the fuckers are doing with aca.
PS was less than BCBS and the deductable was several thousand less. We are in a branch of the medical profession and this policy is ‘acceptable”

The reason for that premium was because there were many homosexuals in the “group”. Each homosexual with aids has a monthly cost for their medications of $10,000. That cost was spread over the “group”.

We have earned our money and our wealth on their system. Before 1972, USA was very wealthy due to its dollar being backed by our industrialized society and gold. We exported a lot of goods. But we couldn’t borrow on that.
Then came Nixon and OPEC and the petrodollar. That built tremendous wealth. We also overspent and we are using credit.
Thus, the central banks and the IMF are using QE to save them, not so much us. How this ends, I think many of us will live to see those days.

Im healthy so Ill not participate. I just pay the $95 or 1%. There is no punishment harsh enough or no reward great enough to force or entice me to buy health insurance. The law is uncounstitional. The supreme court got it wrong. The law forces me to engage in commerce. if I don’t im deemed a criminal subject to punishment. For doing absolutely nothing!
From everything that is in place to date (which changes apparently whichever way Obama’s farts are blowing), the $95.00 is PER adult (over 18) family member. The GREATEST of the two sums, total per-family-member amount vs the 1% of family income, is what you would be paying in penalty.
So if your family consists of you, your wife, and a 19-year-old uninsured son, your 2014 penalty would be MINIMALLY $285.00 (3 x 95.00)…and that’s if your total family income isn’t more than 28,500.00 (otherwise, the 1% of total family income would become the prevailing amount).
The penalty for EACH under-18 uninsured family member is $47.50 for year 2014.
People forget the “per person” part and the “GREATEST” part.
By 2016, the penalty is an amount of $695.00 PER over-18 adult family member or 2.5% of total family income. So the same family scenario (2 parents and one 19-year-old son) would cost you a MINIMUM of $2085.00 (because it is the GREATEST of the two amounts) in penalties.
There are some other “this’s” and “that’s” that can alter the penalty, but as usual, the IRS takes multiple pages and a ream of “paper” to explain it all.
Feel free to double-check the math and if anybody finds additional info on this, please add on/subtract from. After spending an hour delving through information, I have a splitting headache researching this mess and I don’t even need FrankenCare.

I have read a couple of articles that state that if you do not pay the “Tax” that they can not really come after you for it. Especially if you are not owed a refund. They cannot seize anything. Cannot dip into any of your accounts, cannot put a lien on your house, etc. No criminal charges of any kind. Articles say the law was written that way on purpose, because other wise people would really get mad.
I believe the penalties goes up each year. You might only pay $95 this year but they will be knocking at your door someday.

What is the penalty for noncompliance?
The penalty is the greater of:

•For 2015, $325 per uninsured person or 2 percent of household income over the filing threshold, and
•For 2016 and beyond, $695 per uninsured person or 2.5 percent of household income over the filing threshold.
There is a family cap on the flat dollar amount (but not the percentage of income test) of 300 percent, and the overall penalty is capped at the national average premium of a bronze level plan purchases through an exchange. For individuals under 18 years old, the applicable per person penalty is one-half of the amounts listed above.
Beginning in 2017, the penalties will be increased by the cost-of-living adjustment.
Who will be exempt from the mandate?
Individuals who have a religious exemption, those not lawfully present in the United States, and incarcerated individuals are exempt from the minimum essential coverage requirement.

Ugly have you looked at what the reduced cost coverage provides? My bet is its apples to oranges when you figure in the reduced benefits and much higher deductibles. You might be able to afford the health care but never use it because you dont reach the deductibles or cant afford to.

I plan on having my business provide the insurance and then write it off, that is if we can find something that we can afford. Another 1300.00 a month taken out of my business is a pretty tough hit. For what the Democrats have done, I will never forgive for forget. For what the republicans have let the democrats get away with, I will never forgive and forget. I hope that obamacare fails miserably and that enough people get pissed that the body politics gets an enema.

Look at the ACA this way.
Today, medicare and medicade and SSI, plus others, have expenses that are over $1T annually. Those systems are in the red (to dems, by ‘red’ I mean losing money ie broke).
Thus ACA will have to rake in at least $1.5T per year to at least break even (to dems, by ‘break even’ I mean not losing money).
In USA, there are 80 million families that pay the bulk of 95% taxes.
Thus, ($1.5T/80 mill taxpayers) = $18,750 per family per year.
Do their math. There is no way they can come up with $1.5T or $2T annually with 80 million familys paying only $600 per month.
(80 mill x $600/mo x 12 mo) = $576 Billion.
That is far short of today’s healthcare costs.
So where does the money come from? Very simple. It will be a redistribution of wealth. Lets say Ugly’s SSN payment is $3300 per month. Not so fast, it will be $3300 – ACA fees = $800 per month.
Or, say you own home and have $200,000 equity. Then comes the heart attack and it cost $450,000. So you lose home equity plus you still owe $250,000. Thanks to ACA they pay $150,000 but you still owe $100,000. Damn, there goes your life insurance policy.
Until they can explain what is in that 1,000 pages of ACA, there is no reason to sign up and take the chance.

My take is this… nothing is really free. Obummercare does benefit the people that are not able to get insurance. Like people with pre-existing conditions. But I believe we could have worked on a plan for those people instead of us all paying for those select few.

I can see I need to hone my hunting skills, but it wasnt a wasted day I know were their running now, I’ll have one tomorrow. start canning it for the inside pets.dog and a cat, and I will freeze a deer too.cant aford to stock pill store food for them.WE WILL NOT GO WITH OUT FOOD LIKE THE SHEEPLE.

Lucky if a few took it serious. Then I’d ride off on my Harly bike to speak elsewheres. Used to be as if I wasn’t able to control it kinda. Even if I tried to NOT say a Thing at all, I’d last 10 minits, and begin talking of future events etc and prepping for disasters etc.

The people I’m speaking of would agree my house wouldn’t be an option to get anything. I just work with people with small children and I tell them to atleast get some water and canned goods. I don’t discuss TEOTWAWK just if we have another round of tornadoes and we loss power.

Hey, you tried. Kudos for that. I have only discussed my preps with my fiancée, with the intention of teaching her how to use much of the things that we will eventually share. Water filtration, handheld HAM, generator, firearms, etc.. I have SUGGESTED that family members follow suit, and I left it at that. People make their own choices. I would be more than happy if I NEVER have to filter water, cook freeze dried food indoors, or send someone to their maker. However, I will be well prepared to meet those challenges, should they arise. Side note – I DID insinuate that the wedding was a no go if she blabbed about our preps to friends. Haaaa. We shall see.

They just got the Oct 21st ebt reload with that new deduction ammount. Their New amount per month has only gone down to $101. So they now get only $6 Less than prior and it began in month of October.
Their ebt renews every 21st of the month. I think other folks gets ebt renewd at seveal different dates per month. It likly depends on their last name “letter” or their soc sec last digits.

Kinda off the subject but in the spirit of self suffientcy I am sitting here whist the canner timer runs down…lots of pints of some of the best kraut on planet earth 😉 ….cant beat the feeling of seeing all those jars full of good eatin and knowing that between my hard work and the good Lords rain/sunshine,I did that(Ya barry I did,ya sick freak!!)

Sure quite simple…shred up your cabbage fairly fine then put a layer a couple inches thick in the bottom of your 5 gallon bucket…sprinkle good canning salt or sea salt(not iodized)about 2 tablespoons(you can vary salt a bit but too weak itll spoil and too strong itll take longer to cure) worth all over it then mix it in with your hand real good kinda squeezing the salt in as you go and mixing it throughout…pack it down a bit then add another layer…repeat the above till you are up to within 4-5 inches of the top…get a good plate…glass or ceramic…not metal and push it down into the brine forcing the kraut down a bit make sure you have a couple inches of brine covering the plate(brine recipe below)…then you need a weight of some kind…I use a mason jar full of water with a plastic lid on its side on top the plate…seen clean bricks and rocks used too…then you cover the can(cotton cloth tied on keeps bugs out) and set it in a cool area like a root cellar 50-60 degrees is best…after a few days you check for the fermentation(warning it will smell strong…this is normal) and if you see any white scum floating on it you simply scoop it off and then recover it and check it again in a couple days(anything growing in there besides the white scum means you probably don’t have enough salt or its way too warm and you probably lost the batch…best to try a small batch first and get the feel for it)…it takes about a month for it to get good…don’t be afraid to reach under the plate and sample a taste…its ready when you like its taste/texture… then can it at 5lbs for 20 minutes its good eating and good for you…many old cookbooks have the water bath method/times…I dont remember them as I use a canner nowadays…extra brine can be needed if you get low or if you need more when youre done packing it down in the bucket…about a heaping table spoon of salt to a pint makes a decent brine…when you cook it its best to rinse it a bit to remove some of the salt done this for years and its been a good method but there are others out there Im sure…this is the old fashioned fermented type…the best I think…hope you enjoy! 🙂
