Payback or Propaganda?
International forces killed the Taliban insurgents responsible for shooting down a U.S. helicopter and killing 38 U.S. and Afghan forces over the weekend, but they are still seeking the top insurgent leader they were going after in Saturday’s mission, the top American commander in Afghanistan said Wednesday.

In a separate statement Wednesday, the military said the Monday strike killed Taliban leader Mullah Mohibullah and the insurgent who fired the rocket-propelled grenade at the helicopter. The military said intelligence gained on the ground provided a high degree of confidence that the insurgent who fired the grenade was the person killed. It did not provide further details.

Questions about the downing of the SEAL Team Six Chinook helicopter over the weekend abound. Alex Jones of Infowars.com is a leading proponent of the theory that members of Seal Team Six, who reportedly executed the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, were killed to keep the true story quiet. According to Jones, multiple military sources have confirmed to him that the SEALs were waiting for an opportune time to break the story. After the weekend crash, a source by the name of Colonel Sixx, who appeared on Infowars, claims that several families of the SEALs may be preparing to take their story public. Jones suggests that other SEALs in the unit may be aware of a cover up and are themselves preparing to take action:
“This whole thing stinks to high heaven. The SEALs are very angry and believe that it was a hit. They’re not stupid. They’re very tight knit. They’re very in tune… this is definitely a cover up with what happened with the OBL staged killing.”
An article published by mainstream news outlet Reuters asks What happened on night of deadly Afghanistan helicopter crash? and addresses the military operation itself. It makes no mention of Jones’ insinuations.
Alex Jones is not the guy you would want to quote and expect to maintain whatever credibility you have. Sometimes he latches onto accurate info but marginalizes it by associating himself with it. Sadly, he tries to fill a void left by the MSM. If the Seals families come out with accusations, then there might be something to look into. I also wouldn’t trust the Pentagons claims that they killed the RPG shooter. Remember Pat Tillman? The military also engages in propaganda. Time will tell.
I’m hearing stories of recently released Jackie Kennedy taped interviews where she alleges that LBJ played a roll in the assassination of her husband, JFK. RFK was also supposedly killed because he knew who had killed his brother and, as president, RFK was going to bring them to justice.
I don’t know that there would be very many Americans who feel that their government isn’t capable of almost any atrocity, lie or coverup.
Then, years after anyone involved or who might actually care about the truth is long since dead … the truth finally comes out.

Reports have it that this was a National Guard Chinook only in country for a few weeks instead of Soar 60, the regular Army unit that usually hauls the Spec. Ops. troops around. Why put this many in a National Guard Chinook when you have specialized units available? There is a lot related to this story that requires explanation.

Overtheedge: I have been on the CH-46 Sea Knight’s more times then I can count 100+ hours as well. Assault Support is its primary function, of both the CH-46 and 47’s the movement of supplies and equipment is completely secondary. On this point I agree with you. However the fact that the media has access within hours or even days of these (Ops) tells me that there is some kind of BS agenda going… period. It is not a normal for the Seals to be highlighted like this, like they have been in the last few months!

Now why a CH-47? Speed and capacity. In the 325th (Abn) Inf (82nd), we ran lots of missions out of CH-47s. As a Combat Engineer 12B, we ran beaucoup out of Chinooks. It may be a bus, but it is fast. With twin rotors, the problems of retreating wing stall don’t show up at the lower speeds of single rotor helos.
My beef with the response to the posting was “slow ass” and the conspiracy angle: possible – maybe, probable – doubtful.
Yes, the CH-46 and 47 are old birds but they work just fine. Lotsa maintenance, but so what? No different from the newest Joint Forces fighter.
Consider that the CH series of helos can be used a buses, delivery trucks, etc, there is a distinct possibility that the mission was a ferry operation. Just moving the troops to a new AO and not a distinct combat op. The MSM is effectively incompetent and tends to parrot the official line. This leads me to suspect disinformation at all levels. Think about the politics of America’s darlings were gunned down after such a “grand and glorious” (bin Laden) mission outcome. Get that national fervor worked up.
BTW I served out of Bragg, my daughter and son-in-law served out of Va Beach. I left when they wanted to make me an E-7, my daughter ETSed for college and my ex son-in-law in now a survival instructor for the Navy in Maine. Any guesses who he trains?
I may be pro military, but it is time to bring the troops home. Our adventures in strange exotic lands has become ridiculous from the silly mission requirements to the massive expense. But the PTB want the oil in Iraq, the pipeline in Afghanistan and Libyan oil for USDs rather than gold.

Was the White House involved in the ambush of the members of Seal Team Six? An investigation is fully warranted, starting with the takedown of Osama bin Laden by SEAL Team Six in May 2011, their subsequent murder on August 6, 2011 and the actions of Barack Obama and his appointees before, during and after these events. Why did Obama release the identity of SEAL Team Six as the specific team that took out Osama bin Laden? Never before has a sitting U.S. President done this. Releasing their identity puts a bulls-eye on their backs by providing Al Qaida, Hamas and the Taliban (terrorist groups created by the Muslim Brotherhood) with the information they need to target those specific soldiers. It also openly provided their identity to White House appointees who have alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Now all that was needed was the time and location of a future mission for SEAL Team Six in order to take them out and avenge the death of Osama bin Laden, which appears to have happened. Why were the SEALs in a standard Chinook chopper instead of the Boeing MG-47E/G (the ‘Darkhorse’ which is a SPECOPS Chinook used by SEAL Teams)? At BigPeace.com, Lt. Gen Jerry Boykin confirms that the National Guard Chinook was “inadequate” and “not designed for Special Operations missions.”
From President Obama to Leon Panetta to Hillary Clinton and on down the chain of command, an investigation must find the answer to this question to determine who ordered the troops to conduct their mission in a standard Chinook instead of the Darkhorse SPECOPS Chinook. There are at least two members of Obama’s Appointee’s that should be questioned before Congress as to what they knew and who they informed. One is Rashad Hussain, President Obama’s new special envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Another is Dalia Mogahed who writes Obama’s speeches and is an advisor, who comes from the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. If these people got movements of these Seals to the wrong people that would explain why they were ambushed by Americas Enemies.
I’d like to believe this story, but then I believed Saddam had real WMD’s in stock too. This government has no reason to expect my trust, and I served them with all I could for 21 years.
Saddam did, in fact, have WMDs, and they are still being used against us (trust me, I have first-hand experience of this). What the media does not seem to know is that insurgents in Iraq have used chemical, biological, and nuclear agents against American troops, and all of these were recovered by the insurgents from Saddam’s old stockpiles. If you rely on the media for information, you are bound to have such misconceptions.
This is the problem among the citizens of this great nation; they take what they hear from the media and repeat it in everyday conversation, in much the same manner and applying the same amount of thought as a parrot.

There have been IED attacks on American soldiers involving radiological weapons. On several occassions, insurgents buried 155 rounds, not knowing (or perhaps they did) that those rounds came complete with nuclear materials. When the IEDs were detonated, this created a “dirty bomb”. Mass casualty incidents resulted from at least 2 such attacks that I know of. A good source for related info is Jane’s Intelligence Review, which provides summaries of these kinds of things, and is widely recognized as a legitimate source by the intelligence / counter-terrorism community.
So …? Why are these insurgents fighting us again? What do they want? Do they seriously think they can take back their country? Seriously, they must have an agenda otherwise they wouldn’t be fighting, right? Is there any piece of dirt worth fighting and dying for? And if this is the case, why haven’t they given up yet?

I spent part of my year in 05-06 there trying to produce some sort of positive change in Afghanistan only to see…really see the truth, so I could no longer preach the party line. Why I thought a coupla infantrymen could initiate a change in a group of tribal Neanderthal’s was indeed a fool’s errand.
I wanted to fight…period. So I went.
The real question is what did I learn? What did I take home with me other than shrapnel and concussions? What I found was…
“WAR IS A BUSINESS AND BUSINESS IS GOOD!” and more importantly that I was just an expendable asset to a government that could care less about me or my family or my honor as a soldier.
I was not used, I wanted to go but things do indeed change as the blood runs through your fingers. I was home just six month when they handed me my E-7 promotion papers with one hand and deployment orders in the other.
I passed. With 12 years in the Army I walked away. I figured my kids needed a Father more than the Army needed a trigger puller.

I speculate that these folks would know if they were being set up and would make family members aware of that fact in case something went wrong. Being that there is a movie to be released on the seal team assault on bin ladens compound around election time I find that this all to coincidental and too tidy.
