In a speech at Ivy Tech Community Collage in Indiana President Obama couldn’t have been more proud of the work he’s accomplished over the last several years. Citing official statistics like lower deficits and higher employment he says that 2015 is going to be a another good year.
If there were ever a contra-indicator for how the state of the union will be now that the “shadow of crisis has passed,” this is it:
We’ve come a long way these past six years, since we suffered the worst financial crisis since the great depression.
This morning we found out that America’s businesses added another 267,000 jobs. In 2014 our economy created more than 3.1 million jobs and that’s the best year of job growth since the 1990’s. So all told, over the past 59 months the private sector has added about 11.8 million jobs. That’s the longest streak of private sector job growth in our history.
Meanwhile, our deficits are shrinking… they’ve gone down by about two-thirds. Our dropout rates are down… Our graduation rates are up. We’re as free of foreign oil as we’ve been in 30 years… We’ve doubled the amount of clean energy that we’re producing… A lot of families are saving a lot of money at the gas pump, which is putting some smiles on folks’ faces.
And in the single most hopeful sign for middle class families, wages are starting to go up again.
So, America is poised for another good year.
While it’s easy to pick and choose stats and present them to college students and faculty whose heads couldn’t stop bobbling in agreement, the reality is starkly different from what President Obama has suggested is the case.
As a basic example of the outright conjecture being spewed by our Commander-In-Chief, consider the claim that 3.1 million jobs were created last year. Karl Denninger blows that completely out of the water and shows just why these cherry-picked statistics only tell part of the story:
This change in the working-age population, by the way, means the net job gains are now effectively zero over the last year; the entire last year’s gain is now only 218,000 jobs!
Last month’s household employed number looked to be headed southbound, as did the previous month. Well, now it’s strongly negative, but what’s worse is that it’s now negative on the household number three months running and at an increasing rate

This is a crap report; all of the so-called “improvement” was due to outright lying via “seasonal adjustment” and what’s worse is that the BLS is now admitting that we put 600,000+ more people into the working age population group last year, almost certainly via illegal immigration, than is normal for a given year.
While Americans’ wages did increase a supposed 2.2% in the past year, and the mainstream media claims that this increase stayed ahead of official inflation, the facts tell a slightly different story.
According to shadowstats.com, the real inflation rate over the last year if we don’t use the government’s fuzzy math is actually closer to about 4.2%.
Thus, while President Obama claims rising wages are the single most hopeful sign for the middle class, what he failed to mention is that we actually lost about 2% of our purchasing power to monetary expansion.
The notion that people now have all this extra money in their pockets because of lower gas prices is likewise laughable. Sure, prices dropped, but according to recent reports it means that hundreds of thousands of jobs are now at risk. Oil related businesses are laying people off and some are facing bankruptcy because of leveraged bets that have now gone horribly wrong. Should gas prices stay low for much longer there is a distinct possibility that all of President Obama’s purported job growth could be wiped out in one fell swoop.
Furthermore, the last thing that Americans have on their faces right now are smiles, because those paltry gas savings that amount to roughly $600 per year are nothing compared to the massive premiums and penalties associated with the forced mandates wrought by Obamacare:
Are we all supposed to clap and thank the President for the $50 we save a month without considering the “affordable” rates we are now forced to pay for health care; rates that for many families exceed $1000 in monthly premiums on top of deductibles of $5000 or more?
Moreover, if things are going so great right now in America, how is it that fully 19.8% of American households were dependent on the government to put food on their tables in 2014?
Last but not least, on the matter of deficits, it’s great that we’ve reduced those over the last couple of years. But what about this gigantic elephant in the room?
That’s $18.1 Trillion in debt and in the amount of time it took you to review this article we added about $2 million bucks to the tab.
If by “being poised for another good year” the President means we’re going to see our money lose purchasing power, fewer people in the workforce as a percentage of the population, a continued increase in our national debt, more defaults on student loans, and rising prices for food, energy and healthcare, then yes, you’d better get ready for the next Big (Ka)Boom!
And by get ready, we mean you’d better have a preparedness plan that includes emergency cash, reserve food storage, essential supplies, and self defense armaments because when people realize just how “great” things are it’s going to get crazy.
So now you’ve heard it, folks.
Were doing great and it’s gonna get better.
And don’t let anyone tell you different.

He wants to remove infrastructure support for rural and suburban areas like roads, fire and police, which pushes us into densely packed urban areas where we are packed into the micro apartments that are rapidly being built in major cities around the country.
He wants a to use the US military as a club to wage war around the world and he does not even involve Congress but rather gets his orders from ??? and the UN. He “does not want to wait for Congress to pass laws or agree” so he just writes his own laws. And despite this and the may other illegal activities he has engaged in while sitting as President he has remained free of any legal charges.
He wants to live like a dictator over a country that he hates, gut it from the inside and leave it weak and unprotected so that foreign or local vultures can sweep in and gobble up what is left of the carcass.
He wants to obliterate the personal freedom, patriotism, faith and community that the US of America stood for. He wants to replace it with a totalitarian communist police state that keeps the majority of Americans in financial bondage while protecting the lavish lives of a very few.

When folks that have given up on finding a job and can no longer qualify for unemployment benefits are not counted into the rate…..
When college grads are not counted as unemployed because they never have worked and therefore can’t qualify for benefits; estimated to be about 25% of all graduates between the ages of 21 and 25, which puts the figure at near 2 million that isn’t counted…..
When the college grads that are under-employed are not counted, which is about 50% and includes part timers and those that are in jobs that don’t require a college degree; which amounts to about another 3 million…..
When the non college grad group between 18 and 25, that aren’t employed and aren’t counted because they never held a job previously, about another 15 million or so….
When the seniors that are semi-disabled and can’t qualify for benefits, aren’t counted, which runs into the millions…….
When all these numbers aren’t added into the rate, it becomes a statistical lie, because the true unemployment rate would be more like 20%, instead of 5%.
Not even accounting for the undocumented illegals unemployed, that drain off the system, and fall under the statistical radar.
Times are good, if you don’t look at the real numbers; like how much income is left for entertainment/vacation/savings, after paying for the basic requirements for everyday living.

Farm subsidies can easily become a weapon. If a certain farmer does not do as required, they pull the subsidy. Since the farm was not self-sustaining, it falls. The govt will take out the small family farms, leaving only the corporate owned behemoths.
Sixpack I’m quite aware of how these programs work. Along with the bait there is always a hook. At one time I had four farms proir to a divorce, none of which were adjoining to each other, anyhow I didn’t participate in farm programs until they came out with CRP which is a program where they pay you to set aside marginal land for a peroid of 10 years, so I put some land on ONE farm in the program. To make a long story short, after a couple of years they notified me that I had to put all my farms in a program that suited them, if not I not only had to withdraw from the CRP program but I would have to pay them back for the years I had already drawn pay for, which is pretty tough when you have already lost your income off that land and have to pay them back too. I never voted for obumer and I know most folks are struggling. But in my case this is not true I make more$ than ever before the only people I see that are unemployed are folks without skills. People out there have useless degrees that employers don’t need. Get real world skills that employers need I can’t stress this enough your art degree is not gonna make you any $ these days put down the coloring books and take life serious. Stop trying to follow your dreams employers don’t care about your dreams. They only care that you have the skills to help them. Like the women who think they are gonna be models. I’m not saying it’s not possible but it’s not realistic. These ladies may be nice to look at but how is this translating into employer value. It’s what you can do for an employer . My parents never told me to follow my dreams because it’s just a dream. Like the American dream. Personal economic survival is not a dream this is reality . I drive a truck it’s no dream job believe me but I make enough $ to support my family and save to retire someday. This is reality not a dream people. Learn how to do something that is needed and pays a living wage first then in your spare time follow your dreams prioritys . I’ve seen so many people who follow their dreams never make $ they think their beauty or art is enough. There is no substitute for this. I’ve seen people who lack skills but are highly motivated and the are persistent and succeed in the end. People working at dept stores or fast food is not gonna cut it don’t complain if you stay there and have no$. Oh and know what the industry pays if it’s not enough don’t work in it. You are free to work for less $ if you want but the easy route doesn’t pay good
I agree. Ask most people what they know how to do and they usually return with glazed over stares of “huh?” or might tell you what job they have/used to have.
If you can’t “find a job” you should honestly consider what skills you have and why anyone would want to hire you. Is there anyone here who can fix any car on the road that can’t find a job? Is there anyone here who has never missed a day of work for any reason (hint: my retired mother didn’t as an RN in pediatrics, I haven’t, and neither has our oldest daughter) who can’t find a job? As ah pointed out, are there any here with a CDL that can’t find a job?
I’ve had lots of jobs that sucked, often 2 or 3 at a time, but I’ve never been over 8 days without one since I was 14.
Speaking of the CDLs and truck driving jobs; there will always be driving jobs for those with experience and good driving records, as long as there is any economic activity at all.
Why? Because there are too many idiots behind steering wheels of trucks that don’t have common sense.
Just in our state alone, last year, there were over 700 roll overs of tractor and trailers. Most of those drivers are no longer behind a big truck steering wheel.
Then look at the fatalities involving big rigs. Most of the drivers found at fault, are black balled and will never get a driving job unless they buy/lease their own rig.
There are major accidents because of big rig drivers everyday and new drivers are wanted badly.
I logged over 2 million “accident free” miles during my career, and have since retired. Started out in a cab-over tractor, which is a thing of the past. Missed being in many collisions by using common sense driving techniques. Jack-knived across I-30 west in Texas, on black ice, doing 55 mph. I skidded/slid for so long that my ass had time to let go of the cloth on the driver’s seat and I was partially standing and ready to dive into the bunk,for the crash, when I remembered to go back on the throttle. It straightened right out and I was able to slow down without going off the road.
I was lucky, but forty-two Big Rig drivers, from Nashville to Dallas were not so lucky during that ice storm of “94.
There are jobs out there for Truck Drivers, but most unexperienced drivers have to start over the road, with dispatches of a week to ten days, and some as long as three weeks at a time, before coming back home.
Not everyone is cut out for that kind of living and sacrifice. Stay at it long enough and there “will” be health problems. That you can count on, especially the respiratory issues from breathing all that carbon monoxide from the road traffic. Most thirty year plus, veteran drivers, get some form of cancer, especially if they smoke cigarettes.
I get free Heath coverage and it’s damn good not that state welfare stuff that don’t cover anything . There are good paying jobs out there folks don’t beleive there isn’t . It’s a tactic to get you to work for less.

Yesterday, I was informed that 500 American high tech workers in California were laid off and replaced by immigrants from Asia. H1B visas. This has been going on for years. Traveled to San Jose about 18 years ago to interview America IT workers. One of them had a Masters in computer science. He was hired at a large tech corp. He was told by the Hindu that hired him that he would be the last American hired there. His job was to ensure that the immigrants they were going to hire had the qualifications that they claimed they had. If you fly to San Jose California, it looks like you landed in Mumbai India. They know how to work the system real good. They claim to have IT skills in order to get the H1B visas, and as soon as they get off the plane they go to work at restaurants, etc. This is deliberate. Land in Seattle? Looks like you landed in Hong Kong. It goes on and on. Pew Hispanic survey says most new jobs in the US don’t go to Americans, but rather, to immigrants.

I’m up to$1000 a week when this is not enough I will go to college or start my own business. I’m not mad at the factory for paying so low I accepted it. If it’s unacceptable don’t work go somewhere else this is what you do . Wages are paid according to skill level working in a shipping dock is no brain work . Not trying to insult anyone but be honest with yourself people. A good salary is going to take a lot more than 9 to 5 hours some people are on call I’m sure the doctor that delivered your child was happy to come in at 2 in the morn. Or how about that HVAC tech on Sunday morn to fix your burner that shut down. These folks sacrafice potentially important times in their lives to help you out of your situation . They should work for less though right . But hey your entitled to a living wage according too bummer. After all it’s fair and equal.

Here’s a thought. Print out short flyer with the information you want to get out. Make it SUCCINCT, where you can put three or four statements on a page, then use a paper cutter. Leave your comments ALL over – grocery baskets, in magazines as I stand in line at grocery stores or doctors’ office, pinned up in the dressing rooms in Sears or Penny’s, leaving on *thousands* of mailboxes over the years, etc. etc. etc. I have probably left 10,000 or so short documents.

Just on the news this morn the repubs want legislation to make people who get food stamp Benny’s show a photo ID and the critics are already saying it’s not fair that people should not need ID. This is a small step in the right direction what about drug testing people. If they had to choose dope over food and they chose dope they should starve maybe they will die and drop out of the gene pool. I think this is what should happen we should start a petition to enact legislation to make drug tests mandatory for food stamps . There are rehab programs out there for people let’s force their hand . It’s a small price to pay to get free food. A lot of the food stamp people sell them to the habib store guy for cigarettes all the stuff in the habib store is food stamp bought this ID will make it a little harder to fraud . But what if people know it’s not someone’s food stamp card and do it anyway will their be charges . The whole thing is a fraud anyway the best way is drug testing . This would be a good year for the tax payers. The welfares are useless to society what do they do for the community people there are too many of them nowadays some is ok but the number of the useless eaters is out of control we need population reduction by half at least . I’m sooo sick of carrying dead weight. There is work get off your lazy asses. It’s not that hard to make it .

@WWTI, while searching for some old Army records at my Dad’s the other day, I found some old toys. Do you remember MAC men with their vehicles? Also saw my GI Joes with their little M-1s and .45s. Not the 3″ guys,either but the 12″ guys with fuzzy hair. Also dug out real Tonka trucks made of metal. Made in America too.
