To better assist Americans in paying all their taxes in a timely manner , the IRS is acquiring sixty new combat shotguns. Solicitation Number TIRWR-10-Q-00023 has just been added to the government’s web site as of Feb. 2, 2010, and states in part,

“The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) intends to pur chase sixty Remington Model 870 Police RAMAC #24587 12 gauge pump-action shot guns for the Criminal Investigation Division. 1. Not as much as if it were, say, 200 million rounds of handgun ammunition. . .

      2. What the hell???  Does the IRS have a “SWAT team” or something???

They’re going for the 14-inch barrels too – I think that makes these Class III firearms…no big deal for a government agency, but a private citizen needs a special permit for one…similar to owning a full-auto M-16 or something.

Note they also want the Knoxx recoil-reducing stocks…which I highly, highly recommend for self-defense if using a 12-gauge pump action.

      3. I guess the IRS is planning on setting up a SWAT team. Hey, the government is broke — they need to make sure people understand they are serious this time!

Aaron — no doubt! LOL   (link)

      4. Comments…..IRS-Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Special Agents carry guns and make arrests..they are Federal Law Enforcement.  Nothing new.  IRS-CID has had shotguns issued to them for many years

      5. Ahhh….. “J”.
The significance of this seems to have passed about 30,000 ft. over your head.
        Allow me to clarify:
We are rapidly approaching a tipping point where the peasantry at large will begin to actively resist the demands of the King and his highwayman.
The King knows this, therefore he is taking steps to (theoretically) insure the safety of his chosen thugs as they move forward with their campaign to plunder the wealth of this once great nation.
        Will the King succeed?
        Only time will tell….

      6. Well, isn’t that just lovely? Did anyone ever tell them that if they would simply follow the law, they wouldn’t need to force people to pay at gun point? I mean, really, by the time this administration gets done wrecking the economy, IRS agents won’t have anything to do because nobody will be paying taxes since we’ll all be using gold, silver and barter for money.

      7. Comments…..Greetings, Netranger.
It seems we hang out in many of the same circles 🙂

      8. Burrow Owl,

Imagine that? I would expect, as the old saying goes, the wise old owl to be where the wisdom is.

I enjoyed the bit about the King and his Highwaymen. But, they better order another 100 million of those shotguns if they really intend to do anything effective with them. But, I do agree with your point.

Keep your ammo dry and your food hidden!

      9. @J: “RS-Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Special Agents carry guns and make arrests..they are Federal Law Enforcement.”

Last time I checked, even the courts cannot cite the specific Federal Statute that requires a person to pay income tax. So which Federal Law or laws, exactly, do these agents enforce? Please enlighten us all…
