Health experts have come out declaring the video game Fortnite to be just as addictive as the drug heroin. And with millions of daily active players, Fortnite Battle Royale is currently the most popular game on the globe, heightening the concerns.

According to VGR, the Fortnite hype has taken the world over, and almost everyone has heard of it. Unfortunately, some people are addicted to this video game, and the latest report indicates that this addiction can be very harmful. It appears that there are some Fortnite players who can’t live without the game, and their addiction is even being compared to that of a heroin addiction.

Just last month, there have been several reports about how Fortnite has ruined numerous marriages. According to a report by The New York Post, over 200 marriages have been ruined by the highly addictive video game. This time, experts are comparing Fortnite to heroin because of how bad it is, and it doesn’t seem that things are getting any better. “These numbers equate to roughly 5% of the 4,665 petitions we have handled since the beginning of the year,” a Divorce Online spokesperson wrote in a press release. “It is no surprise to us that more and more people are having relationship problems because of our digital addictions.

Health experts also state that the popular video game can “get in the way of your child’s brain development.” Further explaining what exactly happens with kids in a video game addiction situation, Fortnite gets kids’ dopamine system involved and it releases addictive chemicals. These chemicals are very similar to a drug addiction, and the game creates cravings some people can’t live without.  “I am obsessed,” one 13-year-old gamer told The Post in March. “‘Fortnite’ is special. I never wanted to play so much in my life.” Some of the kids who were tested by health experts for a gaming addiction were teenage boys, and one of them actually admitted that he was so addicted to the game that he continued to play Fortnite while a tornado was sweeping through his neighborhood.

In June, the World Health Organization announced that compulsive gaming has been classified as a mental health condition as well.

Taking personal responsibility for all addictions, whether they be drug or alcohol related, or behavior, such as social media and gaming addictions is not something many are prepared to do. And as society increasingly becomes more and more dependent on technology, these types of addictions will continue to worsen.

      1. And I am sure the NSA and CIA are studying this very carefully and taking notes.

        • The CIA is rumored to have had a part in other video games, the more addictive the better. The CIA inserted back doors and spyware into these games.

      3. “…Fortnite has ruined numerous marriages.”

While watching the Kavanaugh confirmation, I said that first wave feminists were (in some respects) moderate, in their demands —
        1. her physical safety
        2. necessities used to keep a home

These were supposed to come before his night life and other, moral vices.

If she is a help mate, as in the Bible, what is she supposed to help you do? Exactly when does it become a damaging addiction?

These are questions about utilitarianism, commonlaw, and objective morality.

The feminist, who I was discussing this with, could not like other womyn, either. She wanted to say the other feminists were evil, but not why. Lost the plot, so called me sexist.

Would this evil trickster, asking you these things, have arranged for you to go about your chores in peace?

The gamer, who I was supposed to toughen-up, could not tell me what was the entry free, or rules to participate, or where any event would be located, in the foreseeable future, or how a person might travel there.

Would this evil trickster, asking you these things, have provided you with an all-expenses-paid trip? (Just a short distance, down the road, for one of these.)

You ask for help and advice, then say it is not in my place to help and advise.

      4. I have never played a video game in my life. And I’ve never heard of this one. Go buy some paint and let the little addict do something useful. Painting is very sensual. The smell of paint, and stroking the wall; it is a fulfilling activity, and it gets you back into reality. Try playing real games like tennis, basketball, bocce ball, cards, chess, badminton, etc.

        • Antifa:

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Although it is true that I am old, I am not in bad shape for someone my age. I advise anyone young or old to ignore these kinds of petty put downs. The facts are: I eat better, exercise more, and look better than Antifa wishes I looked.

Bocce ball may not be rigorous exercise but I still participate in physical activities that would challenge even a young adult. So, say what you will.

If I understand correctly, you first have manners. Secondly, you throw this thing and hit a narrow target.

      5. Hey Antifa:

        I’m a sex symbol. You’re just jealous.

        • I’d like to like you all over!

        • Dad?

      6. Mom?

      7. I played some video games back when Mattel Intellivision was out, puzzle and sports games. The current video games suck imo. All headache inducing shooter nonsense for retards. Smash them buttons to hell. Then join the military for real already trained and ready to kill.

      8. Video games release EXCESSIVE Dopamine, a naturally occurring neurotransmitter, into the brain.

This creates intense pleasure, disables the will, and robs players of the true joy that comes from authentic or genuine creative activity.

People get paid BIG bucks in Silicon Valley to design games that manipulate brain chemistry in these destructive = addictive = evil ways.

This is much different from the joy received of playing a board game with others.

But it does not stop there.

How many Apps are on your devices that you engage in excessively instead of engaging in creative activity?

Nothing wrong with an App; unless it is excessive and crowds out everything else.

How many Cable Channels do you peruse and then watch as opposed to thinking for your own self and doing your own thing?

Nothing wrong with watching something on TV unless the consumption deadens you to your own skills, abilities, and talents.

The end result of ALL these habit forming distractions (destructions?) is not only to deaden or numb your ability to think critically and analytically but to DEFLECT you from your OWN creativity while you ADDICTIVELY CONSUME someone else’s digitally designed drug.

Play is built into our DNA.

        We all need to play.

But digital drugs that masquerade as “play” robs us of true play time and destroy.

      9. The ignorance in this topic is mind bending. Says a lot about the clientele.

      10. I find it bizarre that some kook can regurgitate a puerile post on male emissions which has no bearing on the topic.

Yet an intelligent balanced post on the benefits of limited strategic computer wargames that have tactical historical elements, never sees the light of day.

        Weird dude.

      11. What a great explanation. ?
