On February 17th Napa County, California Sheriff’s Deputy Riley Jarecki pulled a car over in what should have been a routine traffic stop.
She approached the vehicle from the passenger side and asked the driver, a twice-deported illegal immigrant named Javier Hernandez Morales, if she could look around the vehicle. He agreed and Jarecki circled the car to the driver’s side. The window was rolled up and the officer asked the man to roll it down. As the window is rolling down, the driver immediately pulls a handgun and fires a single shot at Jarecki.
What happens next is nothing short of what you would expect a professional law enforcement officer to do in this situation.
Jarecki pulls her service weapon, circles the vehicle and opens fire, unloading her entire magazine into the perp.
The driver can be heard giving out a scream about midway through the exchange, but Jarecki doesn’t stop until her gun is empty and the driver is motionless.

Added a couple more pistols to the group one for the wife and a big bore for me.
Just finished building an AR 223 and 6.8 for the wife, and a Long range 223 AR for assist to an 223 long range sniper rifle.
You see I’ve been doing some research. At my age I can only run and gun for so long I’m not 40 anymore.
So now I have set it up to use the 6.8MM and 223 as my main battle rifles. But I have also set up a Long Range Bolt action 223 (using AR Mags) backed up with a Observer with an AR 223. Also have set up my Match M1A being backed up with my Scout M1A.(308) and my Rem 700 300 Win Mag backed up by my Noreen Arms BN 36 300 Win Mag. This is my thinking this is to be used for TSHTF. Like I said I’m not 40 anymore and I need a head start when I’m shooting and scooting.
If anyone has any ideas on how to better this PLEASE let me know.

Sgt., Man you know a .223 is in no way a long range sniper rifle by any means right? For gods sake my friend if you try and shoot someone at say 600 and there is a 2 mph wind your going to miss and alert them is all. I know you like the .300 and I love it too, make it your go to long range rifle! My .243 is am awesome tackdriver with 70 grain match but I would NEVER use it for anything over say 400 for sniping. In 15mph wind I wouldn’t use it over 200. Small bullet=big miss in wind! I got my wife a bolt .223 and she does good at 200 but beyond that? Stay with what you know will do the 1 shot trick please!

Yes I know if you see how I have it set. 300 Win Mag out to around 6 to 7+, 308 out to 5 to 6+, 223 (24In Mossberg bolt, that uses AR mags) for up to 5 and under. Using this rifle I was hitting a 6″ plate at 400 yards. That is not to say I can’t use the others at shorter ranges, but We have some slightly built souls that can’t handle the 30 cals.

Right you are. Quite a few police departments have moved away from the .40 cal due to stout recoil that caused some officers in training unable to pass the firearms course. The 9mm round has been improved immensely on stopping perps and offers better control of bringing the sights back on target when speed is needed. I would say that she probably had little time to use her sights fully and zoned in on his center mass when she did that mag dump.
Reper Sleeper, those are the same reasons that 9mm is my caliber. There are better rounds available now and the recoil is not so bad. I can bring my sights back on target pretty damn fast. If that had been me I would’ve zeroed in on his head. 2 quick ones and it would’ve been over.

I have heard of it done with 5.56. The first 3 or 4 rounds are tracer, you see that its combat reload time. I’de assume that they’re tough on the bore if you don’t promptly clean it. They just seem to have corrosive effect.

It looks to me like he got his finger on the trigger while he was pulling his gun out and it discharged prematurely. It didn’t even look like the gun angle was right for the bullet to hit the officer.

I’m sure the man discharged his “borrowed” handgun accidentally as he was trying to hand it to the officer for safekeeping. The officer should have been more understanding because, as we all know, accidents happen.
