Game Changer: It Will Be Shocking for the Average American: “Your Cost of Living Will Quadruple”

Do you LOVE America?

    Share

It’s no secret that the U.S. government is in serious fiscal trouble. So much so that our Treasury Secretary recently noted that should the debt ceiling fail to be increased, the fall-out would be “catastrophic” and last for generations.

Given that sobering report, consider that everything in America, from food to fuel, is subsidized in one way or another. Those subsidies are being paid with ever-increasing debt. It is inevitable that at some point the world’s reserve currency, the US dollar, will be wiped out. The trigger for such an event is irrelevant. What is relevant, is how average Americans will be affected when that day comes.

In recent months working Americans have seen their health care costs triple. But this is just the beginning. When America’s debt problems come to a head the subsidies will be removed, and that will lead to cost of living increases that will leave those who never saw it coming in a state of confusion and bewilderment with no way out.

Marin Katusa of Casey Research, who has met with business and political leaders in over one hundred countries and is one of the most successful contrarian investment analysts out there, has some thoughts on the matter.

It will be shocking for the average American… if the petro dollar dies and the U.S. loses its reserve currency status in the world there will be no middle class.

The middle class and the low class… wow… what a game changer. Your cost of living will quadruple.

In the following must-watch interview with the Sound Money Campaign, Marin outlines the reasons for why our cost of living is going through the roof, the effects of geo-politics on our future, and ways to insulate yourself from what’s coming.

    (Watch at Youtube)

Imagine this… take a country like Croatia… the average worker with a university degree makes about 1200 Euros a month. He spends a third of that, after tax, on keeping his house warm and filling up his gas tank to get to work and get back from work.

In North America, we don’t make $1200 a month, and we don’t spend a third of our paycheck on keeping our house warm and driving to work… so, the cost of living… food will triple… heat, electricity, everything subsidized by the government will triple overnight… and it will only get worse even if you can get the services.

For the average citizen, they should be thinking, ‘I should store some gold here and there as insurance for all of this.’

Now, I don’t know when it will happen. But it will happen, because it’s happened to all currencies.

I don’t think the people of Rome thought that Rome would ever fall as an empire… but it did.

So, you have to be prepared and protect your family. That’s why you want leverage to things that have major upside when the dollar does collapse. And the best insurance for that is gold.

As Marin notes, the assets you hold should be such that they maintain or increase their value as the Petrol dollar crashes and America’s debt bubble bursts.

For those with retirement investments like 401k’s, IRA’s or cash, Marin suggests you look to healthy gold companies as insurance. Back in the Great Depression of the 1930’s, as stocks crashed and then stagnated, those with investments in gold mining companies were able to not only preserve wealth, but grow it.

Those who prefer to keep their assets in physical holdings should look to gold and silver bullion, as well as those items that will become difficult to obtain when prices sky rocket. These core physical assets might mean long-term food stores, land with productive capacity, and personal energy production facilities that may include wind, solar or hydro.

If there is one trend that has taken hold over the last decade it’s continued price rises for the basic necessities of modern life. Given that we are now in more debt as a nation and individuals than ever before, it’s not hard to see where this is headed.

If you need a mainstream forecast to confirm what’s going to happen, then we point you to the words of President Barack Obama, who several years ago stated unequivocally that, “electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket.” He should know, because his policies are a significant contribution to what’s going to happen in the very near future.

    Look out below.

      1. Guns, ammo, water, food….. Not just gold.

        • No doubt. If we’re talking about a situation where gold will be five times the price it is today, then we must consider what the price of milk, bread, gas and a kilowatt hour might look like in that circumstance.

          • Not sure if yall have heard this or not….

Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) Doesn’t Want Them

Remington, one of the world’s largest gun manufacturers, will on Monday join Gov. Robert Bentley (R) to announce they are bringing over 2,000 jobs to Alabama.

Most of the jobs will be relocated from their Ilion, NY plant, and the initial investment in Alabama will be $87 million.

Founded in 1816 in upstate New York, the company is one of the nation’s old…est continuously operating manufacturers. Remington is the only U.S. manufacturer of both firearms and ammunition products and one of the largest domestic producers of shotguns and rifles.

Remington first began considering new locations after the New York legislature passed the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act in response to the tragic shootings in Newtown, Conn. It broadened the definition of so-called “assault weapons” to include a wide range of guns, including the Bushmaster, which was being manufactured at Remington’s New York plant.

A month ago Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) said “extreme conservatives” who are “right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay,” have “no place in the state of New York.”

Gov. Bentley responded “In Alabama we strongly support and uphold our great U.S. Constitution on which our nation and our states were founded.

“The Constitution serves to protect individual freedoms. Among them are those guaranteed in the Second Amendment, which protects the right of the people to keep and bear Arms. We will protect the freedoms of individuals and welcome any one or any company to Alabama to discover as so many have, that we are a pro-business state filled with good, hardworking people.

“If Gov. Cuomo doesn’t want hard working pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment people in his state, we will gladly take them here in Alabama.”

Elections are a battle, Liberty is the war.

We may lose a battle here and there but we must Never lose the war.

            Keep fighting the good fight.

            • I hope every queer in the country moves to within zero inches of Cuomo’s ass.

My Remington’s have NEVER let me down. Congratulations to Alabama and to NY…NEVER give in.

“don’t go down without one helluva fight”

              • Im pretty much self sufficient. I don’t buy a lot of stuff so that dosent worry me. What worries me is what is my city and county going to do when they don’t have all the big bucks rolling in. I live in a place where they reassess your property every year and charge you by what th4ey think it is worth. So far it has been little by little but if things go south im sure they will raise it what ever they want. A good half of my county relies on the government jobs. That is what worries me.

                • That’s how they can steal your property, but then again property taxes are there to prevent anyone from REALLY owning property in the first place.
I’ve often thought about how nice it would be to have my house paid off, but then you’re on the front row for someone to find a reason to steal it from you. If I had the cash in the bank instead it’s not any safer from greedy hands.
Reminds me of a verse in the Bible
                  Matt 6:19
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

                  • Income Tax 101: Do You Know What It Really Is?

“The broad purpose of the income tax is to regulate credit and consumption and create an informational dossier on all citizens. Yes, when you “pay” income taxes, you are involved in the system of regulating your credit and your consumption.

The foundation of a fiat credit monetary system is REGULATION.

Otherwise, it will not work. So when there is a credit monetary system, there has to be a system of regulation. This regulation system is called the Internal Revenue Service.”

                  • I have friends from China and they say that over there, the government gave them property to own a long time ago and it is passed down from one generation to the next… free property…in China. Of course, the younger generation has to pay for new homes if they don’t live in their parents’ homes.

Anyhow, there is good and bad in every country. She also was very astonished when I spoke out about our presidents. Over there, you can go to prison for doing that.

                • When that happens, it’s time to go to war. Taxes are not for the benefit of the taxed.

                • Same here in Kodiak . Half or more of the employed work for local , state or the federal government . And they all think you should consider them as more important than the private sector . The public servant no longer exists . To keep this ever expanding list of government employees paid , we see an unending increase in property taxes , sales taxes , state and federal income taxes and licences and permits required for every move you make . We have reached a tipping point and its not going to be pretty .

                • Delton, a lot of experts from various fields say federal governments won’t be able to withstand what is about to take place… That’s why they are preparing the best they can, with totalitarian rules, etc. in hopes of keeping BAU, which is profitable to the elites. They are like old dinosaurs whose time is come to disappear. I wouldn’t worry too much about them..

              • My boss promised me a fifty cent an hour
raise if things ever get that bad.
Don’t know what I’ll do with all that surplus,
been thinking about investing it in gold.

                • Not to worry everyone, BO, Frankenstein Heitz Ketchup Man kerry, the puppet masters, and the rest of the congress have a solution to this problem, it’s called WAR.

Yep, a nice war time economy means that everything is frozen in the government’s hands. No more debt ceiling, no more debt being recorded. Just good old fashioned government everything. No inflation, just anything you need can you can get free at your local FEMA camp. Plenty of what you need with your shiny new gasoline ration card. The government will even protect you by knowing exactly where you are at all times with your brand new RFID chip. Yep, the government has a solution for inflation.

War time economies don’t last very long in the nuclear age because armies usually use everything they have eventually when someone starts to lose.

You know it would make good satire if we the people were not so totally going to get royally screwed. Just watch the skies, soon you might be seeing the vapor trails from hundreds of ICBM’s going northeast towards Russia and northwest towards China over the north pole region. Then about 10-30 minutes later……………

                  • BI, if Obozo takes us to war over Ukraine, he and the restof the globalists better be hiding out damned good in those underground bunkers. If I come across any of them, I’ll just shoot the bastards and get it over with. No FEMA camp or RFID chip for braveheart, period!

                  • THIS IS IMPORTANT AND SOMETHING ALL OF US CAN DO TO HELP ALERT EACH OTHER.

Anyone with a shortwave, these are the Military Command and Control channels.

                    4.724
                    4.742
                    6.712
                    6.739
8.992, this one has really been recently active
11.175, this is a good one also
                    11.244
                    13.200
                    15.016

                    All usb

Lower frequencies during the night and higher ones during the day.

These are going to get more and more active and if people out there pick up anything interesting maybe there could pass it along to everyone. SHTF is building up, and the military frequencies will be the first to pick them up.

In this country The FEMA frequencies are:
                    5.211
                    10.493
                    14.567

Start to hear a lot of chatter on these could mean the hammer is ready to come down.

                  • Their solution for the US is give it over to China. Something will trigger social unrest. Martial law ensues. Chinese and Russian troops roll in. Worst nightmares come true. Lots of death.

              • I love my Remmy! rot in hell cuomo you jew fag.

                • Ummmm…Not sure where you got that…He’s straight and Catholic

Must be nice to be a bigot behind an anon posting….

                  • Ok I admit it I am an antisemitic homophobe. But hey, he sure ACTS like a jew.

                  • Sad to say, in these post-Vatican 2 times, there are MANY Catholic accomplices to the perversion and usury of synagogue of Satan.

                    Pray for their souls.

                  • ”’Ummmm…Not sure where you got that…He’s straight and Catholic”””

That’s what he would have you believe.

Of course, Obama would have you believe he is Christian and straight, but the facts do not seem to agree.

I don’t know if cuomo is a homow, or if the shrew is a jew. But I do know if he says he is Straight and Catholic that he is probably not either.

                  • Cuomo is as Catholic as Pelosi.
                    Theyre both pro-abortion.
                    So how are they Catholic?

                  • @Silverwolf. It really doesnt matter to some people. .02 clearly is a follower who can’t think for himself and will be a part of the problem during the collapse. It’s amazing to see how divided we are amongst our own.

Look at the polarizing thumbs up and thumbs downs that yours and his comments made. Even we can’t see eye to eye.

This country is divided amongst racial, religious, political lines, and within our very own prepper community. Oh the S will HTF, but what we have today will still be better than the anarchy, carnage, and division between human beings, which will be our ultimate downfall whether its pre or post collapse.

If the prepper community can’t agree today, how can we think to be a solution in the recovery. A lot of people on this forum are brainwashed, even if you’re on the “right” side.

                  • If the prepper community can’t agree today, how can we think to be a solution in the recovery. A lot of people on this forum are brainwashed, even if you’re on the “right” side.

Right? Who gets to be the judge of that? Oh your handle has all the answers, the Libs get to be the judge because the libs are always “right”. Shit, excuse me for being such a follower. Asshat. FOAD

                • .02

So what you’re saying is, the only way you can communicate is to hurl insults and racial slurs at people? Are you the spokesman for Preppers and Conservatives?

I’ll be the first to admit, and some here can agree if their honest with themselves, that i have both Liberal and Conservative views. If you claim to be 100% on one side or the other then you’re delusional.

i forgot who said the following quote but it rings true:

“Politics is best when its in the middle of the road. If it goes too far on one side or the other, you’re in a ditch”

As a pragmatist, i’m liberal on some issues and conservative on others. This doesn’t make me more or less of a man for having these views. I don’t agree with anything that is unconstitutional and incrementally takes away our god given rights.

However, you spew your bigoted ways without knowing what you’re talking about, such as your ignorant posts: “Ok I admit it I am an antisemitic homophobe. But hey, he sure ACTS like a jew” “I love my Remmy! rot in hell cuomo you jew fag”

.02, are you the face of the Prepper Community? I hope not, because I’m going to be prepared whether you think I’m Liberal or Conservative.

                  • I have never claimed to be the face of any prepper anything none the less a “community”. I hang out here as well as several other sites to throw out my .02 and you can take it or leave it but NEVER have I said anything about being any way shape or form some kind of leader or “face”. When/if shtf, I am talking REAL SHIT not a week or 2 without power, you running around with your thought policing will catch an ass of lead. And yes. my grandfather was a NAzi Storm Trooper, and I have researched enough to see how many countries have kicked the tribe to the curb and I see what Putin is trying to do in the Ukraine, and I am sick of these evil fvkers killing and enslaving the world with their magic money.
And on another note, I have freed myself from what others think of me or anything else as far as that matters and could care less about you.

                  • Once a Nazi always a Nazi. Such a shame they failed, they would have brought so much freedom to the world. We sure wouldn’t be fighting over gun control, cause no one would have any. And those jews wouldn’t be causing any trouble, cause there wouln’t be any of them. Oh! on second thought, there would still be Jews, cause God is even greater than the Nazi’s. Trekker Out.

                  • Just for the record Libprep, “God” is capitalized, as He is the only true God. Was that just a typographical error on your part or was it a slip of the tongue showing your true belief?

            • I live in New York. I know when I’m not wanted. However, I think it will be more fun being the turd in the punchbowl. Cuomo’s punchbowl. Heh heh.

              • .02: Catholic don’t mean nothing. Just ask folks in Spain how swell it worked out when jewish converts to catholic, were really false Conversios who secretly hooked up with MUSLIMS and sneeked in muslims under the wire untill enough were infiltrated into Spain, muslims took it over for…600 yrs!

Thank God for spains queen in 1492, when she Booted Out every false conversio ‘catholic jew”, and christian spain was again the deal. I guess public school history text books failed to include That part of history eh.

Ok .02 sorry for the slight interuption here now go Back to being a nazijewhaterwhowantstokillsixmillionmorejewsandisakkkhatemongertoo! You damn Bigot You!

                • Them Guys: You so-called knowledge of history sucks, the Jews didn’t start to convert in any numbers until 1391, 680 years after the Moors (Muslims) invaded Iberia in 711. There is no credible historical evidence to support your insane claim of a Jewish-Moorish conspiracy, it exists only in that diseased little mind of yours. But hey, a bullet can fix that problem. Good luck with your cure!

                  • Insane claims of conspiracy seem to be the norm here.

A few days ago, Josef Stalin, a native of Christian Georgia, and who dropped out of an Orthodox seminary, was suddenly Jewish.

                • Eye eye Captain… Charge!

                • I still don’t get the Jew hate. I’ve looked into what’s really going on for years now. All I keep hearing anymore is this anti-semetic crap “it’s the Jews”, “they’re responsible for everything that makes our lives hard!”. Ya, lets go out and kill all the Jews then……seriously?
I always thought the elitists that want us dead were luciferians. Has nothing to do with Jewish heritage, the Jewish people, or a Jewish belief system.

                  • “they’re responsible for everything that makes our lives hard!”. Ya, lets go out and kill all the Jews then”

                    CHARGE!!!

                  • I always thought the elitists that want us dead were luciferians. Has nothing to do with Jewish heritage, the Jewish people, or a Jewish belief system. Yes and No. yes they are Luciferians and no it has everything to do with the jews.

Jesus says to the jews “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

So are you calling Jesus a liar?

                  • No, just you.

                  • Wow smokey you gave that a lot of thought didn’t you?

                  • Wisefool – I didn’t used to get the “Jew Hate” thing either. Then I started investigating. They are only 2% of the worlds population, yet they control nearly EVERYTHING. Hollywood, media, govt, etc. Look at some of the last names of those in the upper echelons of the NWO. Rothchilds ring a bell? 😉

                • Them a-holes,
You truly are a moron. Islam needed no help from the few Jews that lived in Spain as Islam brought a conquering army. Your stupid Jew hatred is an embarrassment to this site. In fact you are an embarrassment to sane people. Getting your orders from DU to paint this as a racist site,eh?

                  • .02

I wouldn’t call Jesus a liar. I would call him a Jew since he was raised Jewish, taught in the Synagogs, had a Jewish Mother and was Son to the God that created the Jews and have been worshiped for thousands of years. Nope I wouldn’t call Jesus a liar. You on the other hand need some help.

                  • WRONG! Mary was not a jew or was Christ. Get a clue.

            • Its nice to hear, Remington makes excellent firearms,,,
NY political machine is full of a bunch of idiots,,,
Sweet home Alabama,,,a much much nicer place to be…

              • I like Remington but their half assed non fix which their engineer/gunsmith had brought up with the 700,at time would have cost .15 a rifle to change and saved a few lives/lawsuits,this from their own guy.I realize the 700 has been fine for the majority of folks but that short sided thinking from business just pisses me off!

            • This time the South will be the industrial section of the country and will have all the arms manufacturing, the federals will have nothing but EBT/SNAP patriots whose loyalty will be harder to buy as it is the Yankee dollar that collapses. Most of the military is from the south, so they will probably opt out of the federal army any way, after that and as a result of Obama’s ongoing purge of the pro constitution officers, all that will be left of the military will be the anti-oath generals and a those few troops from the blue states.

After Barack “postpones”,(cancels), the 2016 election and sets up his re constructed US Constitution (monarchy one man rule), the south will be able to go its own way, King Barack I (first) will probably want to be able to rule without the Red states any way, he will have more of a free reign that way.

              • Jack, the very same thoughts were crossing my mind.

You and I think alike. Probably make a good team.

            • You don’t have a very good source of information, not 1 job is being relocated from ilion plants, there just not expanding in NY!

              • Wrong,to a degree you are well….,wrong.Colt also is starting up new operations in Florida, but not moving shop!Yeh right,as soon as set up they will leave N.Y./Ct. completely soon after, hope they offer employees a chance at new gigs but make no mistake, these companies are pulling up their stakes completely when space/production allow it!

            • Seems QUITE OBVIOUS that the battle lines ARE being drawn. Most of the gun manufacturers are moving to “conservative areas” as are people with similar values. Most of the “LIBERAL,COMMUNIST and FASCIST” states will be unable to manufacture arms or ammo—- Seems like a relatively easy battle to me as long as the people and governors of those “Conservative” states stick to their guns (No pun intended)!!

            • All good! Except Gov. Bentley stated: “In Alabama we strongly support and uphold our great U.S. Constitution on which our nation and our states were founded.”

This statement–while it is made with the best of intentions true to our cause–contains a rather huge falsehood, which is actually contrary and even harmful to liberty.

The States (from which representatives / Founders came in order to meet and create the Constitution) obviously preceded the Constitution. States were not off-shoots of the Constitution, and they created the federal government, not the other way around. The subservience of States today to the criminally-infiltrated and thus corrupt federal “government” enterprise is a sad result of both the misuse / abuse of states rights to keep human beings in chattel slavery AND a federal government’s illegal war to force those states to remain in the Union–which thus became the all-powerful tyranny that it is today. Add a dash of federal incorporation in 1871, and shazam: the sad conundrum in which we today find ourselves….

State governors–of ALL people–must understand this critical part of our history… and especially if they are to appropriately reassert State powers, of which we are in dire need if we desire to retain any of our freedoms and liberties.

          • Had the privilege to use a real british chartered accountant and he tore up my first insurance policy that I bought He said ”Don’t buy paper… buy something that you can hold and feel”. He said, always that a big slaughter ox thru the ages had been equivalent to an oz of gold

            • @ hank,
And 1 oz silver= 1 man day of labor

          • If the cost of living quadruples, and I do not believe it will for a NY minute, I predict the number of dead bankers will skyrocket. 🙂

Double digit inflation is not hyper-inflation.

BTW, the comment about raising the debt ceiling was in a conversation about America defaulting on its debt payment; and there have been several solutions proposed to avoid that; if the Retards are ever dumb enough to cause a default.

            Not gonna happen. Period.

The loss of WRC status of the dollar is not gonna happen either, until Jesus comes. Period. The dollar is the currency of the New World Order.

The New World Order is controlled by the Rothschild banking cartel, 147 major multinational companies, and it is backed by the New World Order Military Machine. If they disappear, then you are already dead.

I predict the “Sound Money Campaign” will join BitCoin on the ash heap of history. The NWO will not allow competition or another mafia family to encroach upon their turf.

If metals EVER back money again, it will be digitized by the NWO GB’s, and it will complete the economic enslavement of the American people. Be careful what you wish for, My Peeps.

Gold backed money? How much gold do you have? 🙁

            • When the cost of living quadruples, most people won’t.

              • Yes, they will come lookin’ for your grub and gear.

              • How come these guys Always defend higher prices with “Supply VS Demand” issue…Yet they Then say when 99% of folks have NO money to spend….Stores are going to Raise prices quadrupple?

What happened to supply VS demand?…When folks have No cash to spend, stores Must Lower prices. Or toss out spoiled goods, and shut down and go bankrupt right?

And always they compare the usa to small insignificant countries like zimbabwee or this time, its,”Croatia”?

Isn’t croatia part of what bubba Klinton carpet Bombed into caveman era? If so, maybe That played a role in money troubles there eh.

                • Because the Supply vs. demand is just a ruge and disguise to hide the lust for greed behind modern day crony capitalism

                  • BJ: Supply and Demand is a basic principle of economics. It affects your life everyday. You understand that it is real, naturally, by your behavior, even if you do not consciously recognize that principle in operation as it affects you and every human being on the planet every day.

When you considered a rifle and scope, did you consider price? When you go to the grocery store do you buy ground beef at $4 lb. rather than roast beef at $8 lb. ?

When the PTB encourage 30 million illegals to invade the USA do you understand that they do so to suppress the wages and salaries of working men and women like you (among other reasons)? This is the Principle of Supply and Demand in action.

A larger pool of workers lower wages and salaries for everyone because there is more competition for the available jobs. Therefore employers can pay lower wages without adversely hurting their production wile simultaneously increasing their profit by lowering their cost of operation.

The Principle of Substitution is its kin. this was the Principle in action when you decided upon a rifle and scope or between ground beef and roast beef.

These economic principles are not “rouges”. They are very real and they do not mask the greed of the Uber Rich but expose it for the educated who understand the Principles.

Engage your employees or be impoverished by them 10 million illegals at a time. 🙂

                  • Yeah yeah, “Krugman” Kidd. If it was always just supply and demand (as it should be in a free market capitalist economy) then with all the increases in demand for silver and gold the price should be through the roof.

                    But it’s not.

                    Because of Central Bank manipulation.

And just never mind the benefits from lower prices from a larger labor force. It’s obvious many refuse to consider innovation and competition as a way out over protectionism and other mercantilist tyranny. Just call it a supply and demand thing and blank out?

                  • Average Guy / Clark: I agree the market for silver and gold is manipulated. So is every market that has a market maker; including autos. I have stated that before. Where have you been?

I have stated that ALL markets are manipulated before, which is why I do not gamble in the stock or currency markets.

                    Check the archives. 🙂

            • While the cost of some things (food perhaps) can quadruple, many things will either stay the same or go down. Payments on a fixed-rate mortgage are not going to rise. People would probably had to double up to stay above water and property values would go down like they did after 2008. Our property taxes went down.

When the costs of an item goes up a lot, alternatives become more attractive. In the winter we pay an average of $125 to heat our home, cook our food, and heat our water. If natural gas skyrockets it will be worth processing the wood behind the house, installing the instant hot H2O heater, and cooking on the rocket stove or solar oven. Gardening would skyrocket like it did in Cuba after the embargo.

My wife could walk to work except for the fact she uses her car to drive to sites. There is no reason to expect that would not be adjusted for inflation as long as she still had a job.

              • I don’t believe the costs of things will go down when the cost of living skyrockets. Chances are, the banks will cry to the government about how they’re getting killed from all those fixed rate mortgages and we’ll probably find that the interest rates will go up regardless of what it says on your contract.

          • Remember, the government just took over 20% of the economy with the affordable Care Act. Part of the plan to manipulate the public when it all comes crashing down? I think so. And what better way than to demand gold and silver from the citizens for health care when the dollar is irrelevant? All of this is a plan for control of the people on earth, it’s resources and it’s wealth. It is that plain and simple.

            BigB

            • Big B: Demand gold and silver from the American people? An interesting thought, but if the Federal government is relying on confiscating the gold and silver owned by 99.99999999% of the American population to enrich itself it would be pissing into the wind.

That is what the USD is for. They control it. They print it. They do not even need taxpayers any more to support their activities. They have QE and 100 million American grazers receiving some sort of government handout, while 50% of the population and a long list of major corporations do not pay any taxes, whatsoever.

Useless eaters I am sure to their mind. The people, not the corporations. 🙁

              • The more money created above productivity the more the existing money is diluted in value.

In the end all fiat currency returns to its original value; zero. Its not a question of if but only when.

                • K2: The money that has been created has primarily been created to replace the losses of the GB’s, thus it has only replaced some dollars that were destroyed in the last downturn.

Those dollars, for the most part, have never seen the light of day and are not circulating within the economy, therefore these created dollars are not diluting the existing money supply.

OUR economy will likely continue to spiral down. In a recession, and especially in a depression, there is a shortage of money because the money that does exist is not circulating.

Folks, worry about the collapse of China. 🙁

It is more likely that hyperinflation will start there since they have printed 7 times the number of Yuans to the dollar, in the same amount of time that the FED has created dollars. Their printing press is smoking!!!

Save ten dollar bills in number ten cans, folks. The dollar will only become “worthless” for those who do not have any; or for everyone else The Day After The Balloon Goes Up. 🙁

                  • dk

The 80 billion per month is split up with roughly half going to the banks (which they use to by equities post Glass Steagall) and the other half buying Treasuries thus funding government. Both monies make it into the economy with one the front door and one the side door. When loans financed the purchasing of things for the most part those things still exist regardless if the loan went insolvent. If the vehicle was repossessed its sold to another. That vehicle would never have been manufactured W/O the original loan that the tax payer indirectly backed up. That money created does make it into the economy. That money created is fueling a red hot stock market completely divorced from economic reality. Stocks have a dollar value and when sold become money. All of this largely funded by QE and the instant creation of money from nothing.

All of the above is taking an ever increasing amount of money far above and divorced from productivity to remain in effect with the laws of diminishing returns requiring more and more injection of money.

“You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time”. In the end the system as it is today will collapse.

Inflation need not go hyper for collapse to occur. A fairly rapid 4 or 5 fold increase in prices would destabilize households and with it a nation. Beware the Phoenix that rises from these ashes.

                  • dk

Lets agree that there is a trend of abandoning the USD as opposed to new nations joining the same. Each nation making a deal not to use USDs in international transactions creates less of a pool available to dilute the existing supply of USDs into.

We increase the supply of USDs the pool is reduced via nations abandoning the USD and the value decreases requiring even more money to be created to accomplish the previous purchasing requirements thus fueling a greater abandoning of the USD. This is as unsustainable of a system than one could get that will one day be used as an example of extreme economic irresponsibility.

Irresponsibility has never fueled success and is at the heart of failure.

                  • K2: The percentage of “new money” under QE allocated to the Member Bank reserve account that I have seen annotated in official statements was 80% of the monthly amount printed. FYI

Personally, I would say that a “4 or 5 fold increase”, which represents 400% and 500% respectively, would be hyper-inflation. Not gonna happen except by nuclear war, EMP, Pole Shift, or a burp from Yellowstone.

BTW price increases always stifle demand, steer people toward substitutes, or in the case of food, would turn many more homeowners into gardeners. How fast the price rises on food would make a difference too. IE Do consumers
                    have time to adjust?

Adapt or die. That is why WE are Preppers. There will be a culling of the herd eventually, but lots of time left. 🙂

                  • The government uses money printing to fund its trillion dollar deficits. The Fed pays off treasury bond holders in funny money if the bondholder doesn’t want to roll it over. In addition, countries around the world are reducing their bond holdings so again the Fed creates funny money to redeem those. That money is entering the world economy from thousands of places.

                • Kevin2, that was a good try at attempting to get through to the Keynesian statist. However; he’s set in his ways of supporting the system and encouraging obedience to it, as if our lives depend on the so-called experts. Hopefully other people will learn from the exchange.

Did you laugh when he wrote, “BTW price increases always stifle demand, steer people toward substitutes,”?

As if price increases weren’t causing more and more people to buy houses due to the seemingly ever spiraling upward prices. I guess he’s pretending the housing bubble 1.0 & 2.0 never happened and people didn’t have dreams of living off house appreciation forever?

Do you think it’s odd how so many people on this blog seem to fear gold confiscation, as if the war on some drugs was a raging success or the same model would work better somehow with gold?

                  • Average Guy/Clark: I am not defending the status quo. I am explaining what they are doing, why, and how they are doing it. On the contrary, I urge everyone to get involved and change the system before it enslaves US.

I am also pointing out how Alt Media is as self serving as LSM and just as bad, or worse, in some cases.

Check the archives. I said long ago that the demographics for housing were over. That said, if you have CASH you can make a great deal if you want one.

Supply and demand is elastic. With respect to ANY commodity, if the price rises, demand drops. That should be self evident even to someone as poorly educated as you.

The Principle of Substitution ALWAYS applies. 🙂

                  • dk

“The Principle of Substitution ALWAYS applies.”

And with the above your standard of living drops. As more currency is created prices of food and fuel continue to rise. One day the body politic must decide to eat or stay warm. This is hardly the direction an increasingly more productive technical society would be traveling in unless there was an outside intervention steering it in that direction. Historically as productivity rises so does the standard of living until now.

” if the price rises, demand drops.”

And if the currency supply continues to grow the price of the substituted goods becomes out of reach unless you are one of the dwindling number of people with post tax wages rising at the rate of inflation. One goes from Porterhouse to Round Steak to Pork to Chicken to Corn to Oats to Seeds and Wild Berries. One can substitute themselves right into starvation and all the while prices are rising.

                  • K2: I agree with your first paragraph wholeheartedly. I also agree with your second paragraph, except your second paragraph ASSUMES that currency supply outstrips demand.

That hasn’t happened because the currency created, for the most part, has been allocated to the Member Bank reserve accounts to protect their liquidity ratio and replace their losses.

That extra money is not reaching the masses. 🙁

                  • The “extra money” isn’t reaching the masses, but it Is reaching the very wealthy and well connected – and they are bidding Up the prices of stocks and real estate – among many other things. Not too mention all the extra money the gooberment spends to operate. That money is not disappearing into a bank vault.

I don’t have to check the archives. I remember quite clearly how “Krugman” Kidd was urging people to buy real estate not too long ago, right before the peak. And now the slide has begun. Perfect timing?

He says, “if you have CASH you can make a great deal if you want one.”

If real estate is 250% over-priced, it does not matter if you have cash or not, in most every instance you’re over paying. Plain and simple.

It’s ludicrous to say, “With respect to ANY commodity, if the price rises, demand drops.”

Was demand for silver and gold diminished as it rose to all time highs recently?

                    No. Quite the opposite.

Has the demand for ammo dropped as the price rose to great heights?

No. Eighty Dollar bricks of .22 fly off the shelf like never before.

You’re just P.O.’ed because your Keynesian ideology is failing you.

And yes, “Krugman” Kidd, you are defending the status quo. Among the many ways, you always urge people to “engage” the system on its terms, to work to change the broken assed system from within, and by voting for the candidates that are supplied to you by the very same system.

The system has already enslaved everyone.
It happened quite some time ago.

To continue to refuse to see this, you’re either willfully ignorant, or PAID For, it doesn’t really matter which.

The only question is, can you, can enough people break out of The Matrix and see things for what they are?

                  • Average Guy/Clark: The peak in real estate values occurred in 2007. I have only been commenting here since 2010. Your memory is faulty.

I mentioned a year ago that prices had dropped by half in Phoenix as an example and that it was possible to buy real estate for even less if you had some negotiating skills.

I also mentioned that the run up in prices last fall (by 20%) was transitory and that s second leg down would drop prices further if the economy failed to ignite, that the demographics for housing were over, and that WE would have to see how Xmas retail sales panned out to determine whether a recovery was under way or whether WE would enter the Second Leg Down.

Retail has crashed. Auto and housing inventories are up. WE have moved into the SLD. 🙂

              • You forget history,,
The confiscated gold in the past they will do it again.

                • Kulafarmer

I think next time around they will confiscate anything they desire.

The right of private property and rule of law is rapidly becoming as archaic as points in a distributor.

                  • @kevin2
funny you bring up the ‘archaic points in a distributor’
those will be the only things running after any emp attack. my advice, buy anything pre 1972 if you need to get somewhere.

                • KF: Forgot history? Not at all. My point is, that by and large, the American people do not have any gold. Hell, they live paycheck to paycheck or government check to government check.

If every American had just a little bit of gold the price would be $10,000 an ounce, which is why the Alt Media Gold Bugs spread their fear. They have gold. They want your demand to increase their wealth.

And mine. I got MINE. 🙂

                  • K2: You said: “Lets agree that there is a trend of abandoning the USD as opposed to new nations joining the same.”

                    I disagree. 🙂

The New World Order has already recognized the threat to their dominance and countered effectively. The TPP for example is all about locking emerging market economies into using the USD, while “dissenters” are, not surprisingly, undergoing adverse economic conditions internally, mass chaos, and political upheaval.

Independence will not be tolerated. Membership has its privileges. If you are a member nation and play by the Rules, then you participate in the economic benefits allocated to members.

If you will not play by the Rules, or try to change the Rules once you are a member, then there are consequences. WE see those consequences in EVERY nation that has challenged the status quo.

China may be next since it has been overstepping its role within the New World Order Community, prematurely. The Yuan is NOT yet a fungible world currency and the rug could be pulled out from under them, partnership or not.

                    China IS vulnerable. 🙁

                  • dk

The US uses military might and the threat of it to maintain the USD as the reserve currency as opposed to the Bretton Woods Agreement in which nations wanted to use the USD with its gold backing. Strong arming non nuclear nations is possible but expensive and the US public is getting tired of the ostensible use of force withholding its use in Syria as an example. Strong arming nuclear nations like China is HIGHLY (I can’t stress this enough) HIGHLY dangerous and borders on madness. If you need the Marines to force nations to use your money your doomed to failure.

Unsustainable guaranteed. Looking at the above economic collapse may be the least of the worlds concerns.

                  • dk

Those nations abandoning the USD like China & Russia in transactions between them (first step) are far larger economies than some African third world $300 dollar a year per capita income nation. Interestingly China is getting a foot hold there too. Think the US will bully them out of that area and force them to use the USD rather than their currency?

The writing is on the wall and it spells bad words for us.

                  • I’ve got enough PMs to keep my household going for 90 days, on it’s value alone. That’s my little “emergency fund”.

                  • dk

“If every American had just a little bit of gold the price would be $10,000 an ounce, which is why the Alt Media Gold Bugs spread their fear.”

Why can’t Germany get their gold back as per agreement? The gold they are getting is not the bars that they put in safe keeping in the hands of the Federal Reserve. The powers to be have raided the existing gold supplies as much as possible. The “low hanging fruit” has been picked from the tree.

Your fruit is next. No real force needed just the threat of prison. Gold need only to be declared illegal in economic transactions not approved by the government. Draconian punishment such as confiscation of your existing wealth and property work wonders at compliance for the common man / woman. Cash your gold in for FRNs because if your caught using it both party’s go to prison.

The above will be done for the OSTENSIBLE (there goes that word again) reason of stabilizing the currency. Average Joe on a jury will side with the government.

                  • K2: The Chinese WILLINGLY accepted the NWO system and embraced it, especially since they were given Senior Partner Status in it. Besides, they had nothing to lose at the time. The country was starving, poverty was ubiquitous, and industry was little better than bronze age quality as even steel was made by hand.

Bretton Woods? That was then. This is now! 🙂

                  • K2: The USA survived and prospered after WWII without China and Russia in its sphere of influence. WE could survive without Russia and China today too.

Americans would make their own products and grow their own food again. I’m all for it! 🙂

                  • K2: Why can’t Germany get its gold back? I don’t know. I think the vaults where US gold is stored should be audited and randomly tested.

If its not there, my gold is more valuable. 🙂

                  • dk

The US survived and thrived post WWII because the world was bombed out offering little competition. The post WWII rise was directly related to the destruction of that war.

                  • dk

“Why can’t Germany get its gold back? I don’t know.”

                    DUH?

The gold was been re appropriated (a polite way of saying stolen) to suppress its rise.

If they would take Germany’s gold they would take yours. Actually for many they already have. The GLD Gold Fund is leveraged with more shares sold than gold in storage. That is theft of private gold and unfortunately is “legal”. A new phrase is coming into circulation “To Corzine”.

                  • K2: “The US survived and thrived post WWII because the world was bombed out offering little competition. The post WWII rise was directly related to the destruction of that war.”

I agree! But it doesn’t change current reality. It only explains it: and without china or Russia I might add. 🙂

I am not sure about the gold in the US vaults. I read an article on Before Its News the other day where the former Manager of Ft Knox was interviewed. That article included a link to a US Gov website with a list of every gold bar in inventory, its weight, and percentage of gold.

I say lets audit the FED before WE kill it and hang the Gb’s if there is any gold missing. 🙂

                • They won’t go house to house to confiscate gold. They’ll probably go through the bank safety deposit boxes though. I think they’ll buy it back with a new gold backed currency and pay less than market value for it.

                • They did not do a very good job of getting the gold. There are millions of US gold coins still around from those days.

              • @durango kidd

Still think you can amass large amounts of gold and live to use it? History repeats itself again and again…and will until this planet is fully toasted. Maybe you forgot this little executive order? Will happen again, mark my words. The 2012 NDAA pretty much covers it already.

Executive Order 6102 is a United States presidential executive order signed on April 5, 1933, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt “forbidding the Hoarding of gold coin, gold bullion, and gold certificates within the continental United States”. The order criminalized the possession of monetary gold by any individual, partnership, association or corporation.

The stated reason for the order was that hard times had caused “hoarding” of gold, stalling economic growth and making the depression worse. The New York Times, on April 6, 1933 p. 16, wrote under the headline “Hoarding of Gold”, “The Executive Order issued by the President yesterday amplifies and particularizes his earlier warnings against hoarding. On March 6, taking advantage of a wartime statute that had not been repealed, he issued Presidential Proclamation 2039 that forbade the hoarding ‘of gold or silver coin or bullion or currency,’ under penalty of $10,000 and/or up to five to ten years imprisonment.”

                Executive Order 6102
Executive Order 6102 required all persons to deliver on or before May 1, 1933, all but a small amount of gold coin, gold bullion, and gold certificates owned by them to the Federal Reserve, in exchange for $20.67 (equivalent to $376.58 today[3]) per troy ounce. Under the Trading With the Enemy Act of 1917, as amended by the recently passed Emergency Banking Act of March 9, 1933, violation of the order was punishable by fine up to $10,000 (equivalent to $182,185 today[3]) or up to ten years in prison, or both. Most citizens who owned large amounts of gold had it transferred to countries such as Switzerland.[citation needed]

Order 6102 specifically exempted “customary use in industry, profession or art”—a provision that covered artists, jewelers, dentists, and sign makers among others. The order further permitted any person to own up to $100 in gold coins (a face value equivalent to 5 troy ounces (160 g) of Gold valued at about $6,655 as of 2014). The same paragraph also exempted “gold coins having recognized special value to collectors of rare and unusual coins.” This protected recognized gold coin collections from legal seizure and likely melting.

The price of gold from the Treasury for international transactions was thereafter raised to $35 an ounce ($587 in 2010 dollars). The resulting profit that the government realized funded the Exchange Stabilization Fund established by the Gold Reserve Act in 1934.

The regulations prescribed within Executive Order 6102 were modified by Executive Order 6111 of April 20, 1933, both of which were ultimately revoked and superseded by Executive Orders 6260 and 6261 of August 28 and 29, 1933, respectively.

Executive Order 6102 also led to the ultra-rarity of the 1933 Double Eagle gold coin. The order caused all gold coin production to cease and all 1933 minted coins to be destroyed. About 20 illegal coins were stolen, leading to a standing United States Secret Service warrant for arrest and confiscation of the coin. A legalized coin sold for over 7.5 million dollars, making it one of the most valuable coins in the world.

                • @ Socrates. I could see a similar act put out by BO for gold, plantinum, palladium. The BO executive order would probably not be for silver though because of how much industrial use it has. Silver would then be as valuable as gold to own. Even copper might become the next valauble metal. Executive orders really are nothing but a low key dictator’s unrestrained authoritarian law to make it easier to bypass what the people’s so called representatives of congress want. Of course congress is no longer part of any of the people anyway. Plenty of dictatorial executive orders to come, that is almost a certainty.

                • When they come after the three G’s, gold, guns, and grub, it’s time to put the 2nd amendment into play for it’s intended purpose!

                • Socrates: No I don’t believe that large amounts of any commodity could be successfully hoarded unless you are very quietly and surreptitiously supplying an exceptional location and NO ONE, not even your family, knows about it.

And they don’t need to know about it until that day comes.

With respect to gold, everyone should own some gold and silver. But my point about gold was that Americans don’t own enough gold to finance the government and they have no use for it anyway.

They have the dollar. When they need gold or something else they will attempt to take it; not unlike gun confiscation. They NEED to strip Americans of their guns or they and their families will be killed by them, when push comes to shove.

                  Engage. 🙂

                  • Socrates: Gun registration is necessary for gun confiscation, and gun confiscation is necessary to dissolve the US Constitution and merge the USA into the North American Union with Mexico under UN auspices without OUR consent.

Thus the push for gun registration. 🙁

            • Remember also that these government idiots just assumed that us pleebs would all obey their royal edict and pay and pay and pay,,,
Im buying guns and ammo and other such fun supplies instead,
I have no intention of helping fund their scam nor to fund any of their charity to ILLEGAL ALIENS.
              At any cost

              • Since I reload and form my own projectiles LEAD is on my list of precious metals.

Other things that are high on the list are Solar Panels, Charge Controllers, Inverters, Wind Turbines, Deep Cycle batteries, LED Light Bulbs, Strike Anywhere Matches, Plastic Tarps, Seeds, Nuts n Bolts, Oil, Hand Tools, Rechargeable Batteries, Lumber, Firewood, 12-2 Electrical Wire, etc. You get my drift. NO precious metals until my camps are well stocked.

                • @ Shootit , All THAT is high on my list too !! Now as soon as I hit th Lottery , I’ll be stocking up on these thing’s !! Rats , you have to play it , to WIN it !?? Well nevermind !……mm

          • Mac,

No doubt if gold and silver rocket in price, the prices of most other commodities will as well.

But given a choice of some metals for savings, and Federal Reserve Notes….which one would the prudent person want to own ?

One should only hope to retain some purchasing power with precious metals.

            • TnAndy, my precious metals are lead and brass to protect my other supplies I have invested in.

              • @ braveheart. If you look at the price hikes for ammo and the constant need for it, this is one of the best investments someone can have. Ammo has one of the best overall uses of anything. You can use to protect what you have. You can sell some of it if you ever have to. The value of it just keeps going up. Ammo is security. Ammo should be one of the precious metals in the world, it sure has similar worth to many.

              • You cant eat your bullets when you are hungry bh.

                • Great Point!

You have a great time eating your road kill, while the rest of us eat freshly killed critters.

                • Realist, I have plenty of food stockpiled and still adding to that. I do appreciate the concern. BI, I doubt if I sell any ammo or even barter any of it. I wouldn’t want that same ammo to be used against me.

            • TnAndy, there’s something called The Gold Exchange Fix, it’s an old English establishment that now seats I think five banks, one English, one German, one French, one American and I don’t recall the fifth. They meet twice a day to discuss gold and to agree on pricing. They are being sued by a gold investor for market manipulation. It sounds like the gold investor is sore because gold didn’t keep rising and so he lost money.

There’s talk that Germany is selling it’s seat to China. If the lawsuit goes nowheres and China get’s a seat, expect some real market manipulation. If the lawsuit prevails, expect some volatile swings in gold for a while, at least until the dust settles and trust in the pricing of the commodity is reestablished.

Gold is a commodity, it’s not currency, a commodities investor once said “if you want to make a small fortune in commodities, start with a large fortune”.

          • I’ve been reading your web site for many years now.
It was interesting to come across you on Free Republic.
I was banned there years ago for God only knows why, but
they are a kindred spirit albeit it a stupid one.

            Bra you can’t eat gold.

I live on the most remote place
on the face of the earth, next door neighbor to the
second largest private cattle ranch in America.Plenty of water,
year around gardens, The most restrictive gun laws in America.
(We all ignore them) and we are all very rich thanks to Pork barrel politics.
My point is shelter, water, food, guns, and family are all you need.
Gold is good for electronics and that is about it.

            • What about all your savings (since you are all rich). What are you doing to preserve that? I suggest you buy something as a store of value that can be easily transported and gold and silver is very good for that purpose.
By the way you cant eat guns, ammo, hammers, nails, saws, ect., ect., but they will be necessary items to have on hand.

              • I am not saying we don’t have gold and silver, but I would rather double down on seeds, food, ground, hand tools, and solar before ever looking at purchasing silver and gold.

          • So what? How will you convert gold to something that can be used in everyday commerce? Same with silver, if you take a Silver Eagle to a store they will try and value it at a buck no matter what it is worth. Food, weapons, medicine and even having some hot teenage daughters may be a better strategy.

          • There’s speculation that due to metal price manipulation that once it stops they’ll go up 5 fold in relation to the dollar. We’ll also eventually see panic buying of PM’s. If you can hold your PM’s until then they’ll have more buying power.

          • Hey Mac, I told everyone that russian ammo scare was a sales tactic. Tula and Wolf confirmed this was garbage. Link to follow

        • Well, just saying, got my seeds from last years crop, out today and thinking about wheat I’m planting where, and got my jars and re-usable canning lids, calves for my beef next year, little piglets for pork next year, rabbits, chickens and a little fish pond, yep, just can’t eat those gold coins, but I’ll sure trade a hungry man a jar of beans for one 🙂

          • Mamma D:

What are you going to pay your property taxes with ? All those other resources could go away ( did to a lot of folks in the 30’s ) without some money that doesn’t inflate away. That is the main reason I stock some metals.

            • Having gold or silver is a nice thought but I don’t see how it would be beneficial. The current system of commerce wouldn’t know how to accept gold as payment. How do businesses pay their workers? How do they make change? How do they decide what gold is worth and what to price their products at? Gold is worth something when compared to dollars, so what would gold be worth if there was no dollar? If you’re extremely wealthy and can obtain a few thousand ounces of gold, go for it. Otherwise having a handful of gold coins in reserve is not going to do you any good.

              • We’ll see bartering with silver. There will be a market value exchange rate between gold and silver. If you look at today’s prices based on the melt value of 90% silver coins you can get a good idea of what those prices will look like. You could buy a loaf of bread with the fiat money you’d get for selling a 1964 dime. Silver has historically traded at 1/12 to 1/16 the gold price. We’ll probably see that again.

Also, after the dollar dies you might be able to buy the new gold-backed yuan. Historically, during hyperinflation, you usually see a foreign stable currency come into use. We’ll see that again if there are any stable foreign currencies at that time.

            • Andy, believe there will be a lot of ,well….for lack of a better word “push back”if folks homes threatened over taxes. My grandfather told me a lot of interesting stories during the depression of just that happening, didn’t learn that in my history classes in high school!

              • Thats the good thing about living in a real small comunity,,,
Its real easy to figure out where everybody lives,,,

              • Lot of folks that I know are on board with your grandfather.

              • An old (88) Methodist preacher told me that during the depression he and his stepfather were squirrel hunting to put food on the table for their large family when they were confronted by a game warden in central Mississippi. The warden said,”Charlie, do you have a hunting license?” His stepfather said he did. The warden said,”Where is it?” His stepfather said as he raised the old long tom single shot 12 gauge,”Right in the end of this barrel!” The game warden said,”Have a good day Charlie” And walked away.
That is the attitude to have when they come for what it takes to feed your family whether it’s gold, Guns, food or anything else.
A good man with a family to feed is a very dangerous entity to deal with for tyrants.

            • If it is that bad why would you pay taxes?
Besides they don’t accept gold coins at other
than face value. Are you going to give them a $1300
coin worth a minted $50. I’d rather shoot the auctioneer
,the cops, and walk away with the paperwork.

            • if everyone in America can’t pay their taxes, I doubt the government is going to send out people to collect, it would take a platoon of troops for each home..

            • When the USD becomes worthless I will collect them and use them for the TAX man and the banker to square things.

            • I suspect the local parasite class will have their hands full dealing with the local free shitters who also will be armed angry and hungry ). By the time those useless maggots even think about heading out too prepland , at best they will be on foot and low on ammo )
Go ahead and take a snort off that bottle ya found boys. Woops I wonderd where that methanol went. That and more will be deployed to make it difficult to get at my cache.
Worse comes to worse , will burn it all before being forced to give a up a cup o noodles.

          • There’s always the other thing you can trade.

        • Invest in precious metals, brass and lead.

        • Brass and lead over gold and silver any day…..

        • It’s funny that people think that precious metals will have some sort of value when the SHTF??? You can not go most anywhere right now and buy goods with PM’s…gas, groceries, medicine, ammo…none of it can be bought with PM’s (unless you are buying from a private seller who wants your PM’s).

So, why in the world do people think that when the SHTF, suddenly, PM’s will be accepted for goods? If anything, people will want life sustaining items for trade and barter.

PM’s will not be wanted by 95% of the people.

          • Rick

My PM’s have been a safe place for me to keep my savings and future retirement. (If I ever get to retire) It’s a simpler way to keep it out of the banks and in my possession. A person can only have so many bullets and beans and all the other stuff necessary to survive the best we can if and when the shtf. I never imagined myself trading a 1 oz gold coin for a can of corn or a bottle of whiskey. I could possibly trade it for a really nice weapon though. You miss the point. Gold and Silver have had VALUE since history was recorded. People will ALWAYS see the value in it. They may not want it or have enough of something to trade for it but it has a VALUE that you or anyone else can’t take away. They can manipulate the values all they want. Fuck em! I’ve always found that the people that bitch or worry about someone elses PM’s are the ones that didn’t buy any when the price was low or they are just to stupid to understand the concept.

            Which are you?

          • The precious metals are so my descendants can rise as landed gentry and buy the progeny of preptards off the acution block

      2. They think a collapse would be a bad thing. It’s the only thing that may save us from the beast. We’re all going to suffer anyway. The only time the bad guys would be vulnerable is during the collapse. I embrace the collapse. She’s my date for the dance.

        • Maudy, at this point I see collapse as an inevitability.

          This cannot be sustained.

Good or bad, it’s coming. It won’t be a pretty sight to be sure, but all we can do now is insulate ourselves from it.

I have a hard time believing that we’re somehow going to do a complete 180 and “fix” everything.

Only a system reset can do that, in my opinion.

We see this every century or so — a complete collapse of the existing paradigm… Unfortunately, it seems, humanity has always replaced the old with another broken concept.

The “Human Factor” is the real problem, I suppose.

          • The problem Mac is that back when all those paradigm resets occurred there was no such things as EMP’s, Neutron, Atom, Hydrogen Bombs that you know could wipe out all life forms on the planet.

There is the possibility that these douchebag’s have even more advanced military firepower the world never knew existed. 😉

          • Yes mac you are right. Per scripture man has a sinful nature so all of the crap will indeed happen. The problem is when (should have happened 2-3 years ago), and how bad will it be. For the average person, having a lot of cash, gold, hard assets, etc is very difficult.
Having already moved to a rural location, and getting tools and gardening supplies has pretty much wiped me out except for the amount my wife and I are spending on a older used boat to have a little fun and good experiences before the TSHTF.
Since I am older, just have SS and a paid off house so I am scared but am ornery enough to survive as long as the golden horde and government leave me alone. What will be will be will be I guess. I do have a supply of guitar strings so at least we will have music. I can get food etc for playing gigs maybe?? God bless, James

            • Those guitar strings will make great snares.

          • Never underestimate the power of the bankers to keep the band playing. I thought it was all going to collapse 10 years ago and it should have….but here we are. I don’t see a collapse as much as a long slow death that separates the majority from any assets they may have. You won’t have enough Gold, guns, beans storable food or land to keep you self sufficient ….they`ll see to that.

            • skinny- agreed

“You won’t have enough Gold, guns, beans storable food or land to keep you self sufficient ….they`ll see to that.”

The collapse will be slow and folks will use up what they have and not be able to replace it.
I worry for my kids and grandkids, we have the ability to at least prepare as best we can.
              What will they do ?

            • 😉 Well then you missed the full blown collapse of 2008. If the US Govt in collusion with The Fed had not bailed out the banks and Wall Street the contagion would have collapsed the system around the world.

Second we have collapsed but no one has the balls to admit it other than the alternative media. When nearly have of your population is on some type of government assistance and almost 75% is no longer part of the middle class. That’s a collapse.

The only thing holding this economy together is glue and duct tape. Al you need is some event to light the fuse.

              • LOL ROD , I sure didnt miss it!
I was one of the first to get pouded to dust.
I just dont think we have hit bottom yet.
There are still tens of thousands of homes sitting vacant that fannie and co. have not yet unleashed on the market. they are due to show up this week.
Half of the HUD inventory isnt on the main MLS yet either , you have to subscibe or be a realtor certifed to get listings. like a “hidden” market almost.

can you say “housing bubble part two” ?
Along with all this debt , it just wont be pretty.

                • Of course we haven’t hit rock bottom yet. That’s only because the collapse was artificially held up with glue and duct aka bailouts and monopoly money. If it weren’t for govt handouts there would be riots in the streets.

But for all intents and purposes we have collapse but the final implosion of that collapse is an ongoing slow motion event which is in process.

          • Mac, I agree. Can’t avoid it, might just as well embrace it and use it.

            • Yo maudy –

My son-in-law, at the ‘all-knowing’ age of 25, frequently accuses me of ACTUALLY “looking forward” to the great reset that is headed our way. I keep telling him that it isn’t really as if we had much choice in the matter; but I don’t think he gets it. The PTB have only a limited number of additional tricks to pull out of their “magic hat” in order to keep this sickly economy sputtering along.

After that????? Hell …… it’s anyone’s guess! Keep your heads down and your wits about you at all times It’s the nail that sticks up that keeps getting hit in the head with a hammer all the time.

              • MM, true. We don’t have a say, if and when it comes. Might just as well exploit it for our benefit, if possible.

                • @ maudy –

“Might just as well exploit it for our benefit, if possible”

My thoughts, exactly!!! In the midst of all the SHTF there are sure to be all sorts of interesting OPPORTUNITIES available. It’s my intention to thoroughly enjoy myself on my way out the ‘door’.

“Ain’t it funny how the night moves, when you just don’t seem to have as much to loose?”

            • Why is there just Two choices? Collapse or back to normal? Whats to stop the controlers from doing a Third choice? A Total New system. Or similar to EU a total switch to a new EU dollar. None of the EU nations collapsed, none had riots, same folks are controlling EU nations still. Only thing that changed for eu switch over was folks had a deadline to spend or change whatever cash on hand they had right?

Maybe a few nations ended up with slightly less in value after they switched to eu dollars? I do not know that answer. But I do not recall anything remotely as drastic as collapses or mass rioting there.

Seems to me to keep it going Much longer, all thats necessary is for fed govnt and banksters to say Ok heres the New deal folks. Be it American union with canada and mexico, cashless, swiss francs, whatever…Even all that massive debt they say We owe…I do not owe it, I cannot pay it, and I refuse to pay it. Whats to stop the banksters from absolving all nations debts and do a fresh start from zero again and keep current status us dollars etc and all systems as they are Now?

I see Nothing to disallow any of these scenarios occuring, other than the Will of TPTB to do so or not do so. All they need do is keep folks current dollars values intact so no riots happen.

If they go to EU dollars or canada dollars..And allow for even trade off values?…Most folks wont complain at all.

It just seems that for a decade or longer everyone who writes such articles or speaks at a conference on the money debt fiat issues…All have the same song they recite…Collapse MUST occure Period.

They cite many other prior empires collapses. Yet never make note that Never before in all history of nations or empires was this type system used. Never before was any nations cash the world reserve. Never before was it all so complicated nor computerized, nor so crooked probobly. And definatly never before so huge as today is.

Whats main reason they create national Debt? So to charge usury intrest right. Thats where they earn ALL their major Profits. Aprox close to one Trillion per year today or soon will be just on usa govnt Interest charged. Over $2 Billion Per Day PURE PROFIT! Plus all Private loans debts of close to 300 million citizens. Thats at least equal or higher than fed govnts debt intrest paid.

Plus multiply it all by aprox 200 Other nations with Same bankster cabal. Which spilts that massive profit with about 13 main familys in the entire world!

Ever wonder why Forbes yearly listing of Top worlds richest billionaires always has Bill Gates at top?

He don’t compare to the Rothschilds wealth in the trillions!…How about englands Queen net worth?

Why don’t forbes include Them on top wealth lists?

I read once a couple yrs ago that englands queen has a net worth total if Land holdings and land titles are included, to be at least $56-TRILLION!

Her Land alone covers 1/6th of all worlds land.

She if thats true can BUY a Hundred Bill gates types.

Bottom line is all them folks we never see photos of, nor named on wealthy lists like forbes, and never hear names spoken on any TV news except for once in a blue moon their teen kids screw around so it makes headlines briefly. Otherwise its as if they do not really exist.

But They Do exist, they are the richest bastards globally, they do control it ALL globally, except for 3-4 nations still resisting their nwo crap.

So like I said whats to stop them from a total switch over to???????…Their choice of systems eh. And We All will go along with as long as we come out even steven.

Unless it goes cashless with a RFID implant chip of course…Then we got zero choice but fully refuse.

And if That happens cashless and implant chip ID’s?…You All better Re think that go hide away with Your supplies to…Wait. Wait for what exactly?…Your Turn to get killed off?…No…then if goes cashless and rfid ID’s, we ALL Must act as One group and assist each other…That includes even total strangers if they are patriotic type folks. Any fool thinks in a cashless, implant ID, total survelience society govnt, they can simply Hide away with supplies and wait it out, is fooling only themselves.

That “I got Mine screw all others” attitude will get them killed off even quicker. Either way it wont work as planned. And with so many self professing christians here, its hard to believe so many has that type hide away screw others plans. That aint the method christianity used the last 2000 yrs to survive so long basically still intact.

And make No Mistake folks…as bad as some phony preachers and priests makes christians look today, and even with the several examples of christians wrongs over the past 2000 years time…Facts are that Christianity Was, and still Is the worlds main representatvie of whats righteous and good etc…When compared to all Other systems or religions etc…Best proof of that is, Look how rabidly tptb have been trying to destroy christianity in usa! No other religion, or group is being hated and hounded in usa or elsewheres like christianity and its christian folks. They have a reason for this. Christ and His followers are their biggest obstacles bar none.

And this issue we face and are now Living thru and in, IS mainly a WAR between Good and Evil Period. And all naysayers and atheists etc out there would do well to recall what Christ Himself stated about folks who refuse to take a side…He calls them type folks “Luke Warm” and he complains that he rather see them choose the evil or “cold” side as he says it, than to remain on the fence, or Luke warm…He so hates those types he says he is going to Spew them out of His mouth! meaning like luke warm coffee and you spit it out as its best served Hot, or cold even is better than luke warm.

Those he spews out for refuseing to choose a side either way are going to end up with that Evil Bad side..Because what Other option or choice remains?…NONE!

Those who choose goodness and the right side wont be able to be effective at all if hidden in a cave or basement with Their supplies eh. They will be part of that Luke Warm group. Silence is NOT golden…It is YELLOW!

Silence when you should speak out against evils or wrongs is Yellow cowardness, not golden as many think. Its Luke Warm. Reprovers and Rebukers are going to be Winners in His game plans!

              • Them Guys, good post, agree on all points.
My thoughts are a world war begins and we are all issued cards for digitized currency.
                Then the rationing begins.
And the only way to stop the digital currency machine ?
Yup , EMP , just my take on it all.

                • No cards, just a chip under the skin.

                  • Retinal scan

              • Them Guys: You must be the guy Forrest Gump was talking about when he said “stupid is as stupid does”, or in your case, as ‘stupid says’. No ones is getting fitted with any rfid chips or any other such nonsense. The so-called PTB that you and many others a so fearful of can’t even get a simple computer program to let folks sign up for their healthcare (30 million). Three and half years in the making and now they’ve just extended it for two more years. That’s a passive system, what on God’s green Earth makes you think that they can get 330 million ‘chipped’ and monitored with an active system? Are you kidding! These are the same lame fucks that let a 29 y/o contractor walk in an steal every bit of data the NSA had. These are the same lame fucks (1000+ federal, state, and local cops) that couldn’t find one severely injured teenager in a house-to-house search days after a bombing in Boston. The mysterious, super-secret PTB that run the ‘so-called’ NWO couldn’t find their collective asses with two hands and a flashlight! They don’t really exist in any real sense, in fact they are nothing more than the man behind the curtain like the Wizard of Oz as proven by all these past events I’ve just named. It’s all smoke and mirrors!!! Nothing to see here folks.

                • Couldn’t agree with you more !

              • “Whats to stop the banksters from absolving all nations debts and do a fresh start from zero again and keep current status us dollars etc and all systems as they are Now?”

                One word—GREED. Close second & third—POWER & CONTROL.

          • Yes, Mac, ALL Ponzi schemes must end, and this one will be no different.

          • Howdy, Mac, and I have to agree. the house of cards will collapse eventually, it’s only a question of how and when. We need a reset; when I say reset, I mean go beyond “cleaning house”. we need to condemn the property, tear the house down, and start over from scratch. The system we have now is far too corrupt, far too gone, etc. It is beyond saving. I just hope this time we’ll have something we can really believe in.

          • I would fare pretty well now if the world went to hell in a handbasket but wouldn’t mind another year as by then I’ll be as ready as I possibly can be. After that, bring it on – see you on the other side!

            Aussie

          • Survive Its Death

        • The collapse doesn’t save anyone from anything. It means 90% of the US population will die. It means that those who survive get to be part of a one world police state.

      3. I don’t know about anybody else but I’m sick of all this shit please please let the shit hit the fan I’m tired of being raped every year by the gov. I see people getting free food, phone’s and just about every thing you can think of ive never had a gov hand out but I sure could use one times are tough!!!!!

      4. Be careful what you wish for stacy

      5. The big question is When….and what will trigger it.
Yesterday we had a huge pro gun rally in Horseheads, N.Y.

      6. Interesting analysis. Save a dance for me.

      7. My Mother cried like a baby when describing the 30’s…

This time…all bets are off and we better be ready…

Water and the means and knowledge of how to purify will make you a King…

      8. I’ve been prepping for years. I have silver, copper, brass, lead, and other P.M. If it goes to this we will have a revolution. I have come to the point where I just wish it would happen to get it over with. I know it is not going to be easy and I know I might not make it. I will do my best.
We keep getting told this is going to happen or that is going to happen. We know. WE JUST WANT KNOW WHEN!
I will have food If I have to hunt it or grow it. I will survive.
Prep Prep Prep Pray Pray Pray.
        Sgt.

        • You People who keep calling for austerity measures by our government need to re-think your position. As this article assumes the collapse is coming and there is no reason to believe that it can be stopped.

Let’s say that maybe, just maybe, the government knows it is coming. If that government was an individual what would they do? Buy everything they can with what they have a hand. It looks to me that the government is prepping at this time foe the collapse.

To prove my point check out this article,

          http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-03-09/global-debt-exceeds-100-trillion-as-governments-binge-bis-says.html

which states that the governments of the world are now over 100 trillion in debt. They have been on a spending binge since the great recession started 8 years ago. You know the old saying of “If you got it spend it”? That is what our government has done. Of course being the government I am sure they have screwed up the original intent.

        • Went to J. Sinclair’s talk in LA on Sat. Talked to him quietly. Guy knows, suggest to anyone that they go. He keeps his talks low Key doesn’t want to scare people. But aside he knows and will answer questions. I told him I had a tinfoil hat and asked him some questions. He said he had one also. Interesting man.

          • Dammit!I got rid of my tin foil hat!I talked with a lot of friends/family over the years and they see things from my a bit more from my viewpoint. That said, would be glad to see things improve all around and make up another and look like a fool!

        • Good evening, Sarge. I’ve also been prepping going back many, many years. I have lead and brass to protect my other investments. Be careful what you wish for. You just might receive it. on the other hand, I’ve been getting the same feeling lately. Let it come on and get done and over with. I may not make it all the way myself but I’ll give it my best shot. • Try taking some of your own advice.

        • Amen,,,

      9. Did you see the rack on that chick in the hairloss commercial?….whoooooooo

      10. Food right now is extreamly cheap, as a dairy farmer we are paid 23 dollars per hundred weight of milk and we need about a dollar a pound to make a decent living. We don’t receive government money, all the gov does is set the price so the middle man gets wealthy. As for gold and silver that won’t get you much milk as we need deisel fuel to run equipment. If i had to trade for silver or gold i would need to see what i could trade it for in fuel. So be carefull about buying metals for bartering later, you might not get much in trade.
        Please buy food.

        • A dollar a pound? You realise you’re being totally ripped off? Look at what some other Diary producer countries make per kilo, you’ll choke!!! And what’s worse, they export there milk products to us here in the US!!! How funny is that!!! Next time you have a glass of beautiful cold milk from the refrigerator – remember, it’s probably not made in the US. It’s more likely to come from Argentina, Chile, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa!!!!!

        • Bob,do you sell milk on the side/slide?I try when I can to buy stuff from local folks but the way the system is set up is hard sometimes, face it,you smaller farmers are now in feds eyes the new drug dealers!Any one thinks I am kidding, watch a few raids on raw milk farms, you would think the folks were creating atomic/bio weapons,it is all going to fall to a degree. On a side note Bob,how about a couple of good draft horses, been done before.

        • 23 cents a lb isn’t worth staying in business is it? Unless you go back to using all animal powered implements? Wow. Just wow. Bless your heart…

      11. I need to quote a show…”Chaos isn’t a pit…it’s a ladder.” that was the most frightening and true statement I have ever heard…that was Game of Thrones BTW

      12. By all your recent posts…..

The majority of us earn less than 50 k a year..after taxes that is a net income of @roughly 30% tax@ 35k..700 a week net income.
Factor in housing..either rent or mortgage..that equates to roughly 1000 to 1500 a month give or take…take the lowest denominator @ 250 a week
Now we have 450 left per week..factor in average gas for our vehicles…deduct 100 a week average..now 350 a week left..

Now factor food for an average family of 4…200 @ week a safe guess?..Now we are left with 150 a week.

Now factor gas or oil heat, cooking, hot water, per year..for those of us in the cold climates..average cost would conservatively be minimum average of say 50 a week.

Now we are left with 100 a week to cover electric, health insurance, water bill, car repairs, car insurance, clothes, incidentals, home repairs etc etc..cable,doctors co pays, prescription co pays, cell phone, internet and on and on…Lets not forget preps, ammo, and other incidentals…

And now we must buy gold to hedge against inflation?

        Please..spare me the b.s.

Does every one here earn over 75 to 100 k a year?

Even those who do whom I know quite well can barely make ends meet given their expenses..

        possee

        • You dont need the gold. It tastes lime shit, even in a collapse situation. And im not trading any of my food and preps for gold. Dont stress the metals, its poor prepping

          • If you don’t buy gold or silver it usually means one of two things, you either don’t have much cash to protect or you are ignorant of the facts.

        • I never made 100K a year from any job, but I saved my ass off and yes you can save a bunch. I’ve seen lots of people smoking, drinking, buying lottery tickets. eating fast food, and a thousand other things; whine they cannot save any money. F them. $22.99 for a 50# bag of rice. $17 for 250 vitamins and minerals. Having lived on 5 Cent Top Ramen and Cabbage in a condemned building for over two years to save money. (68% of my take home pay) DON’T BOTHER TO TELL ME IT CANNOT BE DONE! I retired at 50. Just got back from Panama for seven weeks on the beach.

          • Howdy, Paranoid. I agree about the savings part. It’s especially easy for me since I’m debt-free so I’ve always known it can be done. For every major thing I’ve ever wanted or needed, I just waited and saved up enough cash to get the item later instead of whipping out a credit card to get the item immediately and that same piece of plastic can put someone in a world of hurt if they get out of control with it. As I told Possee earlier, if I can’t get something with cash, then I don’t need the item. SO DON’T TELL ME EITHER THAT YOU CAN’T SAVE MONEY. YES YOU CAN, DAMMIT. Too many people don’t know how to get their priorities straight. 95-99% of the population are retarded.

            • Hummm, you actually think up to 5% of the population has a clue? Wow, ever the optimist. I will admit to owing 3/4 of a million once, but have enough to pay off now

              • Paranoid, I could be off on my percentages to some degree; it’s only an estimate. But it’s damned certain most of the population doesn’t have a clue. Me an optimist? NOT.

        • Howdy, Possee. I’m in a similar situation but to a lesser degree. I have no debts period! No mortgage, no car notes, no credit card bills, etc. I don’t use credit for anything, period! I have a company truck with gas and insurance paid for by said company. I’m literally debt-free, so I can spend more money on preps per shopping trip than I would be able to otherwise. Everyone should be well-stocked on storable foods, water, water storage, a means for purifying the water, camping supplies, extra heavy-duty clothing, boots, socks, underwear, guns, ammo, gun cleaning supplies, etc. A lot of people look at me like I’ve committed a crime when they find out I don’t use credit for anything. For one thing, a credit card is something I refuse to have. I don’t feel like sacrificing food or anything else to make the minimum payment on the card every month. As far as cars go, I’ve always bought cars from private owners for cash. I’m not one of those people who can give up one-fourth to one-third of his annual income for big car payments, full-coverage insurance, and high-interest rates for a 3-6 year period of time. Liability is the only car insurance I ever had and is all that is legally required. As long as I can pay cash for something, I’m allright. If I can’t use cash to get something, then I don’t need the item too bad. I just refuse to be without the things that I believe are more important to help me get thru any adverse situation. I don’t give a rat’s ass about being fashionable, the latest gadgets, etc., ad nauseum. I don’t even like to have any kind of disputes with anyone over anything, but sometimes it happens. for example, 2 articles back, 0311 and BJ calling me ‘the nut from TN’. I don’t see them as trolls but somehow they misunderstood me somewhere along the way, so I just let them slide. I didn’t feel like fighting with them. the real fight over much more serious things is coming soon enough.

          • Brave, though agree with your cash lifestyle(have a debit for online)as we bailed out all the banks ect. with no say in matter having one credit card with excellent rating and timing right, well,a bunch of extras for when it hits the fan!I realize this is a tricky timing issue but, could be fun! That scope you couldn’t justify, yours, that solar system, yours, you get the idea!

          • you seem to be a little too intelligent, at least to amke this reading and comprehension mistake. I never called you the nut from TN 2 articles back. 0311 did and I just asked the question “who is the nut from TN.”

I later reffered back to that original conversation with 0311 in a jest kind of way and said “your just a nut from TN.”

You seem to get awful worked up and emotional very easily.

        • I make about $85,000 or so per year. About 7 years ago and with same income, I had about $10,000 left over for investments. But with healthcare premiums and other stuff. That is now gone.

To survive, I am getting debt down. Finally paid off note to house. I have 4 trucks for business and I paid one of them off. By end of summer plan to pay another truck off. Having debt down has helped. We are not tight-wads, we still go to dinner and donate to those in need. But I am adjusting my lifestyle because I can see ‘it’ coming….

In the near future, I think Gold will be much safer than say Mutual Funds.

Myself, I have bought silver. I buy silver only if it is used as currency for purchases of goods let say like wheat. Gold? All I can see is if I try to cash it in somewhere that my payment will be with a ‘Six Bullet Salute’ delivered to me. I just don’t trust gold, I think it is a rich man’s game. Silver is for us–that is just my opinion….

          • Ugly, once you become debt-free, you won’t know how to act. although I’m debt-free, I’m making a lifestyle adjustment myself. I’ve always known ‘it’ is coming; only a question of when and how. If I lose my current health coverage, that’s it. I won’t be replacing it with Obamacare. I’ll take my chances.

            • braveheart.

We are never 100% debt free. But having your monthly bills lowered is a step in the right direction that all Americans should follow. Living paycheck to paycheck is not fun and also does not allow much spending for stuff like food storages. If you are debt free, then stay that way because you are 90% ahead of all other folks….Keep going.

              • Eh,when SHTF who cares about debt?!You burn it up buying good survival stuff and not toys(OK,some survival stuff is also a toy!),really, just a matter of timing!

                • Yup war, I have 25,000 waiting for the oh shit BUY BUY BUY moment.

                • I understand your point and there is reason to it. But for 99% of the people, debt is just a rock you have to carry, all the time. When you use it as a tool, it can be good. I know; we bought: land, apartments, oil wells, a lot of stuff. With debt; but it can ruin you in a flash. And there is a time to run out of it, as fast as you can; AND THAT’S NOW!

                  • unsecured debt is just that. As far as I am concerned, it is my “bailout”.

              • Ugly, I know exactly where you’re coming from and I know how to keep going.

          • I agree with you Ugly, one comment is: If you have to move quickly, you cannot move enough silver with you to make much of a difference. Even a handful of Gold is enough to do a lot. A small bunch of Brit Sovs or 1/4 oz Eagles can be a lot and does not require a truck.

        • For me its a good month when i can pay all the bills and pick up supplies,,
Lately the bills have been sliding and have been trading hardware i dont want or need to get the stuff i want. So year,, gold? Silver? Yea right.

          • This is just a suggestion, using coupons for groceries is a way to save. It does take time there are clubs you can join that match store ads with current coupons. Most stores double coupons, some stores (Kroger ) doubles $1.00 coupons. Only buy what is on sale & have a coupon to bring the sale item lower. Buy enough of the sale item to get you through til the next time that item goes on sale ( normally every 8 weeks) for me I couldn’t survive without coupons. Also, you earn points with your store loyalty card & those points can be used to save on gas.

        • I live on about $900 a month. That’s less than $11,000 a year.

          • I burn about 1200 a month.

        • posseecom

the whole gold/silver thing is highly overrated those out there who think if you don’t have pounds of silver and gold at any price are basically fooling them selves

yes its nice to have and yes it has some value but some see a future where they will be on top after they trade in the gold and silver for supplies etc. this isnt going to be Mad Max were not going to be wandering the waste lands trading our PMs for bread and water. not going to happen no matter what the gold/silver bugs say.

the one thing that everyone is over looking is OBOZO will NEVER !!! allow any thing to happen during his term his ego will never stand it so even if he has to buy 100 new presses and turn them on 24 7 365 to crank out more fake money then that’s what he will do

Right now its all about his EGO

what might have real value is a warm place to sleep and some ammo and guns

take the recent market for the last three or four years silver WAS up to a high of almost $40 in most coin stores etc and some places were charging a premium on top of that ( pure greed ) now when they buy its below market plus a “small fee ” so say the day rate is $20.00 there buying it around $16.00 after there fee
( what a joke and never do business with any one like that “)

and i know some people that were buying at $40.00 per oz
and now that its back down to around $20 those same people are screaming that they lost almost $20.00 per ounce ( one person lost $5,000.00 in his deal ) i don’t give a rats ass what any one on here says that’s a Real loss and all the bullshit aside its never going back up to $ 40.00 this past session is just a repeat of the late 80s when the hunt ? bunker bros tried to corner the market. and on top of that he locked in his loss permanently by buying it at top value there is no way to argue that $5k is gone real money and its never coming back no matter how long he holds it ( well i cant say Never!!! but unlikely )

the whole hedge against inflation thing is just a weak argument made by companies that have gold to sell and want to get rich. look at the companies that are advertising on tv Merit Goldline etc
most are scams most are selling not real gold but Gold /silver certs no actual metals exchange hands and they charge a fee for storage for buying it and Selling it fees for every step of the way fees to set up your account. read there fine print

and to top it off there selling Metals with questionable history such as silver made in china.
there could be criminal charges brought against these companies because basically there running a ponzi scheme

you have morgan dollars coming out of china that are as fake as can be but look real and some that are from the carson city mint in NV from the early days that if real would be worth up to $10,000.00 but are fake.

these companies are pushing buying this crap and putting fears in most people to liquidate there 401k s and turn them in to gold and silver. at over inflated prices

but back to the whole loss of money buying PMs
the best time was when it was $6,00 and $9.00 per oz and that’s when i bought mine and i sold at $35.00 and used the money to buy a couple rifles and 4,000 rounds of ammo.

any one buying now is wasting there money IF and when we get rid of Obozo and if we keep Hillrod out you will see PMs drop big time.

and all those out there buying it at $20.00 plus will scream. “i was ripped off ” no you made a bad choice

for those out there who make these bad choices dont come whining to us.

Yes that means open Rebellion, shut everything down and start the march to the LIBERTY TREE, now, not latter, not well let us see how the election will go; NO WE HAVE TO DO IT NOW, and who knows if we all join the march we just may make them drop it. But, very few in this Country has brass or the desire to do what needs to be done, and this is truly sad for our country. If we do not march soon it is going to be BON APPETIT for so, so many. The acidity in the juice breaks down the spines on the stone and the oil slicks up the tube the stone travels out. It worked for me, but all these downers here will object to anything. Give it a try, what can it hurt???

            • Doc’s call Cranberry Juice: “The Rock Crusher”

          • I use 2 or three tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 6 oz of water, 2 or 3 times a day till the stone dissolves and moves out. We have limestone here and the water is very calcified. Kidney stones are common. Got my first one last year, and as soon as I got home with a positive diagnosis, I started downing( it takes about a half hour to drink it) the ACV. Worked like a charm, and my daughter just used some this week, for the same thing. Did the trick. No more pain, no more kidney stone, and I use the ACV on a bi- monthly basis for preventive measures.

          • Nightbreaker, try taking hydrangea capsules for your kidney stones. I formed them regularly for several years regardless of the diet change and medications the doctors had me try. My whole family forms them. Had laser surgery three times and passed three times that many myself. Not fun. Someone told me about the hydrangea and I figured, it couldn’t hurt to try it. It works for me and for the others in my family. When I have a stone kicking around (and you know what that feels like), I take two capsules with each meal and two more before bed (8 total each day) for ten days. The stones disappear. My kidney guy that does the surgery wnd follow up with me has insisted I get X-rayed for several years because he thought I must have a huge one in there…but no stones for over ten years….or I should Say no stone getting stuck or being painful anymore. i keep a huge supply of these capsules – they have a five year shelf life. Well, good luck! I hope you give it a try.

      14. “Back in the Great Depression of the 1930′s, as stocks crashed and then stagnated, those with investments in gold mining companies were able to not only preserve wealth, but grow it.”

The BIG difference between now and then is the cost of energy. Back then, one barrel of oil energy invested in a well returned 50-100 barrels of oil. Today, we’re down in the 1-3 range….and it’s headed lower. It takes a LOT of energy to produce gold/silver, and especially given the easy pickings are gone….they are running dirt today they would not have even dug in the 30’s. I don’t think you can count on mining shares near as much this time around.

“…the words of President Barack Obama, who several years ago stated unequivocally that, “electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket….”

Yeah….I took him serious. In 2008, we put up our first solar panels (2.1kw) and expanded 4 more times thru last summer to our present 11kw. ( and WOW have they gotten a lot cheaper over that time ! $4/watt down to 90 cents/watt now ). Now we have enough capacity to offset all we use on average. And 6kw of the 11kw is battery backup that we can use on or off grid.

Our emphasis over the last couple years has been sustainable agriculture. Built your soils while it’s still cheap. I get a 20 ton load of chicken manure from a local chicken grower for $400. Buy lime…buy manures, buy sand if your soil is heavy clay…..ALL of it is cheap compared to what it will be, if available, down the road.

Our first incubated chick of the season just came out of the shell and is peeping away in the kitchen….calling for the other 39 to “come on down” !

        • Good comment Andy…Energy is the key to the rest of our lives. What people have available to them now will be half in 10 years…maybe a hell of a lot sooner.

Your idea to build soils now is one that will prove to be a lifesaver for many. I am doing that currently.

Having bulk compost/manure/natural fertilizers available for years to come is as good as gold.

“don’t go down without one helluva fight”

          • TnAndy; what county are you in? Me and mine are in Hardin.

          • Lastman,we have many options, home made and not too hard to produce energy, sites like builditsolar ect. loaded with ideas/plans.I realize the powers that think they be hate it and some folks can’t incorporate it all as renters ect. but still a lot out their for those who look and try,if you can, look and try.

        • From a TN Master gardener…do not put sand in clay soils to lighten them. It produces bricks! What you want is compost, leaves, lime, manure, peat moss, organic stuff to counteract the heaviness. That will lighten it up.

        • @ TnAndy,

That is great. All of it. I just saw the first chicks available at my local feed store last week. Should be buying some but just don’t have the room or time right now. I work as a Chaplin doing weddings and funerals. I don’t accept money for my services. I now ask for a pledge of either rabbits, chickens or goats “On Demand”. I realize that in a SHTF situation I would not be able to collect much of what I am owed but I hope it would be enough and who knows that down the road as needed those owing would come forth when able to pay.

As for the energy deal it is my singular luxury item in a shtf scenario I would want. I have plenty of gas, not enough stabilizer as I should (that stuff is expensive) two generators, two 15Watt solar panels and am working on getting some dry batteries that when needed I would just add the liquid. Plus I have many deep cell batteries I currently use on my boat and RV. Just got a call yesterday from the marina where my tugboat is berthed saying a battery blew up so guess I am going to get to buy some batteries today.

      15. One should always keep abreast of life as an expat.
While I lived some years in central Europe, I now live in the Philippines, where a family can have a fine life on a beach for $1000 per month…even less.
There is no way that I could live under the rule of Barky Obumbo, the Commie.
I do admit that there are those of you that live from day to day on what you make at work, and that expat life can be done only by those on SS, or other income.
I started out in Europe as a tutor of English conversation, but I am now on Social Security.

      16. “In North America, we don’t make $1200 a month, and we don’t spend a third of our paycheck on keeping our house warm and driving to work…”
Really? Perhaps the author should pay a visit to somewhere else besides the east or west coast.

      17. @Posse,
Try 10K less than what you described in yearly income, of course house payment not as that, but with all combined expenses, have been left with as much as 40 dollars to run the week on. Prepping is a few dollars a week thing. One week ammo, next week a few food items, etc, etc.. So in so far as a new prep, I agree with you, some of us just cant afford the shiny stuff.

      18. At what price will the public riot?

Pick any item in the grocery store. Can of corn or baked beans, etc. How high will the cost of that item will go before people riot.

Choose an item that we use in our daily diets.

I am using food because we have in the past absorbed high gas prices and have had innovative ways to save gas.
But food? When hunger hits. ;0)

A can of soup that not so long ago was a $1.25. It has now doubled in some stores

        • Progresso soup jumped 25% yesterday at my grocery. $1.88 a can.

          • In NJ it’s $ 2.75 a can for progresso even on sale its about $1.89!
Any one else having trouble finding seeds ? Locally no where to be found I think there in the same isle as the .22 LR ammo. Finally got some from my patriot supply via amazon . Still to cold here to plant anything just getting ready for the next month or so.

Also the reason for food is that many people have no understanding of our financial institutions, SDR’s and derivatives but understand the cost of food.
We may not be able to afford a good cut of meat and so move to the cheaper cuts and make do. Many of us eat leftovers and enjoy the stews and soups of Time Honored Recipe’s.
The Days of the Big Mac, Whopper and Bucket of Chicken are coming to an end.

          • Slingshot, I’ve been eating out of cans since I was a kid, so canned goods have and always will be part of my preps. I’m currently making a lifestyle adjustment and getting back on those canned goods after a temporary hiatus. Been eating out a little too much. I’ve survived on canned goods before and will do so again. the EBT crowd better enjoy their fast food while they can. Those days will end eventually, oh so true.

I grew up in the good days the 1960s and my father made a good living. We ate leftovers all the time until there were no more leftovers and we ate well. I think there is a lot of “fat” still remaining in the system. As good as the 1960s were economically as a kid my standard of living was much lower than my kids and theirs. I had thrift store Bo-Bo sneakers. One pair of dress shoes. Allowance? Mow the neighbors lawn.

Good riddance to some of this stuff Big Mac and all.

            • K2…I grew up in the 60’s as well. We grew most of our food, canned and soured our meat locally.

We ate leftovers then, and I had leftover meatballs in a sandwich today. Meatballs were elk, I raised and canned the veges in the spaghetti sauce and the baguette was baked at our local bakery.

Brother we love LO’s and nothing get thrown away.

I would love nothing more than to see the fast food shit houses in our and every community gone.

“A can of soup that not so long ago was a $1.25. It has now doubled in some stores”

Simply not true. A can of soup is not an input into the CPI inflation formula therefore it does not exist. There is no such thing as soup.

          • Kevin2

Now you have gone and done it!

            CPI. and non existing soup.

CPI is the biggest farce use by the government to make people think they are doing good.

            Excellent point Kevin2

            • Saw dust is a good source of fiber! lol

          • It gets even better: there’s a hedonistic inflation adjustment because your cell phone got better. So maybe the government lopped off 1% of the inflation rate for that.

Plus, for GDP purposes the government counts the rental value of your home if you live there and don’t rent it. So the place where I live probably adds $8,000 to annual GDP even though I’ve never rented it out.

        • Sling, though soups have gone up watch for sales(buck a can),I keep a bunch and chew thru older ones, figure they are a easy add to basic staple meals occasionally that perk em up.I also popped a lid and half lifted up,had nice and hot on my little camp stove and ready to go in 2 minutes.I consider the soups a “luxury item” in tough times, hell,a luxury item even right now!

          • WD.

I am a big soup eater and I have noticed at first the soups with meat went up in price. Now it doesn’t matter what the soup is the prices are the same across the board. I see the dollar cans and BOGO free and take advantage of it. Try one of the more liquid soups and add instant grits. Different ;0)

          • Warchild, there have been times when a can of soup or anything else was like gold for me. I’ve warmed up soup on my Coleman propane stove too many times to mention, along with some other foods as well. I remember one time when I ran out of propane for the stove, I took the can opener and just ate it cold right out of the can. When you’re hungry enough, you’ll make do one way or another.

            • 1BH: I made some homemade Sterno stoves out of different size cans they work great. I also use 90% rubbing alcohol in them; lot cheaper than Sterno cans and seem to last long. Just a tip.

            • Give me a break!

            • A can of chicken noodle soup has always been and will always be a staple in my pack. In my bug out pack in my truck you will find a can of it.

Recently my wife and I have found self made jars of soup. One mason jar of mixed dry ingredients will honestly feed 6-8 people a really hearty meal. Every year we spend the week between Christmas and New Years camping with a large group of friends. One afternoon we all spend making up jars of friendship soup. Everyone chips in for the different stuff that goes into it. Never thought about it but I guess we are all prepping and we get about 6 jars a piece when all is said and done. Here is the recipe:

              1/2 cup dry split peas

              1/3 cup beef bouillon granules

              1/4 cup pearl barley

              1/2 cup dry lentils

              1/4 cup dried onion flakes

              2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning

1/2 cup uncooked long-grain white rice

              2 bay leaves

              1/2 cup uncooked alphabet pasta

Just add when cooking a can of stewed tomatoes. Good stuff.

Two of my all-time favorites. Potato Soup is also worth dying for, and if you have any spare chicken meat – shred it up, toss it in to the potato soup, and also add a cup of diced celery.

              • @ Big,
Do the dry ingredients cook at the same rate?
This sounds great, and could really build food storage quickly. Also could save on cooking fuel etc.
Approx. how much liquids? Bring to boil and simmer?
It appears to have plenty of complimentary carbs so a great meatless option.

            • Brave, when hungry enuff that soup will seem like a holiday feast for sure!

          • Those soups at even $1.50 are a rip off.
            Okay–my old math.
            Bag of egg noodles..$1
            chicken bouillon….05¢
can of carrots, can of corn, can of peas..$1.50
            can of chicken..$1

I just fixed a big pot of chicken vegetable soup w. noodles…cost $3.55…how many did we feed??

More than you would have with two cans of soup.
Low sodium, less preservatives…and yes, even healthier with fresh carrots, corn, and peas.

            • Jay,agree but a quick addition/time only always quick fix the cans a good thing

        • slingshot

They will riot when the price reaches a point where food is for them unavailable.

The most civil society is only a few missed meals from anarchy.

        • I buy bulk staples to make soups, stews, chili, then use veges from my garden and make 4-5 gallons at a time then can it. That is a lot of soup and such.

Rat hole 1 lb. bags of all spices. I buy mine in metallized bags…they keep a loooooong time, go a long way and much cheaper.

          • I do the same thing, I don’t do it for price savings though, I do it for quality and taste.

I was going to make a big batch of chicken, vegetable and rice soup but I hadn’t any experience with canning rice. Through online research I’ve seen enough warnings against canning rice. I was hoping it would be a way of cycling through the older stocks of rice.

            • Unless you have had that rice for a hundred years, it isn’t ‘older’.

Rice has 30 year shelf life.

            • Hi Rick. Quality and taste are absolute…I have never seen anything about canning rice. Clean, sterile, and adequate time in the bath are all that concerns me. If it doesn’t seal, it gets refrigerated and eaten in a few days.

Still waiting patiently for that first fishin story.

              • I’d like to get you a fishing story but I’ve been busy with business, music and projects around the homestead. For some reason I’ve been getting excited about the homesteading projects and in my heart it’s taking priority over fishing. I can see in my minds eye now how my property will look and what it can produce and I can’t wait to get it there even though it’s going to take years.

JayJay, I’ve canned up pinto beans that were getting a few years old and they came out great, I was approaching the rice with the same goals but rice isn’t recommended for canning, dehydrating yes. To me it doesn’t matter if it has a twenty year shelf life, I will still cycle through the old stock first and research to see what other ways of preserving it I can use.

                • I have a lot of projects lined up here as well. Outdoor heated bathtub for wifey. Built the lions share of a big hugelbed last year and that sob is saturated with all the snow that we had in Feb. Over 40″. In one week with warm temps and rain, it is nearly gone and the ground is thawing. Temps to be in the 50’s and the sun will be coming out in a few days…I am ready.

Also going to build a 14×20 greenhouse. Also have another piece of property that we are going to grow a pile of food on. I like my home projects as well. Lot of satisfaction in self-sufficiency.

Oh, I forgot about my business…silly me.

            • Brown rice goes stale in about a year, white rice keeps for many years. White rice vac sealed in a canning jar seems to keep forever.

      19. What is this about gold?? Can you eat it? Can you drink it? I’ve got several silver coins, probably get more, but I’m getting food, water, ammo, etc. No you can’t eat the ammo and silver, but you can barter. Still trying to figure out the gas issue, though. Storing it I mean.

        • You can only store gas for a few months in a standard gas can. If you seal it up in a 55 gallon drum it will last indefinitely. You might to put in some additive before you seal it. You’ll have to do further research.

I’m fully prepped so we have most of our savings in PM’s. I can sell them as I need money during the early stages of hyperinflation. My goal is to have a year’s worth of grocery money in PM’s. The money from 5 ounces of silver will buy a week’s groceries. That should be true no matter how expensive food gets at the grocery store.

Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many.

          Ear Infection

This is so true! They always ask at the doctor’s office why you are there, and you have to answer in front of others what is wrong and sometimes it is embarrassing.

There is nothing worse than a Doctor’s Receptionist who insists you tell her what is wrong with you in a room full of other patients.

I know most of us have experienced this, and I love the way this old guy handled it.

A 65-year-old man walked into a crowded waiting room and approached the desk.

The Receptionist said, ‘Yes sir, what are you seeing the Doctor for today?’

‘There’s something wrong with my dick’, he replied.

The receptionist became irritated and said, ‘You shouldn’t come into a crowded waiting room and say things like that. ‘

‘Why not, you asked me what was wrong and I told you,’ he said.

The Receptionist replied; ‘Now you’ve caused some embarrassment in this room full of people. You should have said there is something wrong with your ear or something and discussed the problem further with the Doctor in private.’

The man replied, ‘You shouldn’t ask people questions in a roomful of strangers, if the answer could embarrass anyone. The man walked out, waited several minutes, and then re-entered.

The Receptionist smiled smugly and asked, ‘Yes??’

‘There’s something wrong with my ear,’ he stated.

The Receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her advice.. ‘And what is wrong with your ear, Sir?’

‘I can’t piss out of it,’ he replied.

The waiting room erupted in laughter…

Mess with seniors, and you’re going to lose.

          • HAHAha !! Now THAT’s funny ! So here’s ya one. This old redneck suddenly died and when he woke up(?) , he was in a large dark room ,with torches burning around th walls. Two lil devils walked up to him and said ” Welcome to Hell !! We will show ya to yer place !” So a huge door opened to a hallway that went straight out of sight ,with thousands of doors on each side . Redneck said “whats this ??” The devil next to him said ” You have to choose between three doors what you’re personal hell will be and that’s where you’ll spent eternity !” Redneck said “OK.” They opened one door he chose and there was a man strapped to a chair at the end of a huge grindstone ,it was spinning at high speed , every now & then ,a devil would shove his head into the wheel and blood and tissue would fly !! Redneck said “Hell NO,dont want this !!” They lead him down th hall and he picked another door , they opened it up and there were people chained up along the wall and a devil was walking down the line shoving a cattle prod up their privates . Redneck ” Hell NO !!” So they took him to his last door and it opened to a sunken room filled with people standing around waist deep in sh-t ,drinking coffee . Red said “This don’t look so bad , though it does stink ! I’ll take this one .” So he waded in and a devil handed him a cup of coffee . He was feeling pretty good about his choice and the coffee was good too . About that time a devil walked in the room and said ” OK , coffee breaks OVER !! Everyone do a headstand !!”….mm

      21. Just remember that some of the richest people on earth can and do live in very close proximity to some of the poorest people on earth. The difference is how much wealth they have. I say wealth (as opposed to money) because it exists in many forms. A person could have much land, real estate, business, etc, but not have much “liquid money” and they can still live extremely well. Currently, holding a good deal of debt currency and/or precious metals would also constitute wealth, both in very simple, liquid forms. The currencies are clearly coming under more and more scrutiny and their future value is much in question and rightfully so, imho. That being the case, your options to preserve wealth are limited then to real assets (house, land, ammo, food, drugs, anything that you can touch, measure and use). Some deteriorate, some are dangerous, some are expensive and time consuming to maintain, some are hard to store and move. Go through anything you can possibly think of and if you are after the simplest, easiest to store, least maintenance, most liquid, longest lasting, most scarce items, well then clearly its precious metals. Hence them serving as recognized money or currency for much of recorded history. If you want to preserve your wealth in the most hassle free way, that is how. Im not saying dont be prepared for emergencies, but what is coming is more along the lines of monetary reform rather than a battlefield earth….If you were getting dropped into a random place and time on earth, would you rather be able to take money or a gun? Theres a million situations where I would much rather have money and only a very few where Id prefer the gun. Some cases even where you might even think want the gun, having it will get you killed where as having money in that same spot might save your life…Sorry rambling a bit, just saying dont be fooled on what real money is and what it can do for you and your family. Monetary history is very important and often distracted from.

      22. I’m in the UK and am not worried about owning gold – that’s for people with more resources than I.

My key prep worry now is seeds and my garden as the EU seems to be going hell for leather to ensure we starve! As preppers we all talk about gardening as a way to provide a long term food supply. This is now at risk here due to 2 key EU dicats.

        1. “WE” will come onto your land and dig up your plants!
        http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/463863/EU-rules-let-inspectors-dig-up-our-gardens-for-plant-threats

        2. “WE” will prevent the sale/swap of heritage (or simply non-coorporate) SEEDS.
        http://realseeds.co.uk/seedlaw2.html

being banned from selling raw milk was only the beginning. The elite want to destroy freedom completely by making us totally dependent upon them for our daily cup of GMO rice. If you can start/get involved in a seed swap coop this season and keep it on the down low. If you don’t know how to save seeds LEARN NOW before it is too late!!!!!

Like the essential but humble water filter, imho serious preppers will focus on getting and storing as wide a variety of seeds as they can now. Few of us have the wherewithal to store lots of gold, but most of us can save a few seeds. (Apartment dwellers should grow and store medicinal herbs that can be traded even if they only have space for a couple of window boxes).

        • lonelonemum: I’m assuming you have the same cloth bags that you buy from the store (instead of paper or plastic) for a buck….here’s something I am trying.

Get some cloth bags…line them with cardboard, then straw/hay if you have it. Put in whatever soil mix….plant. Light, moveable, hangable, good size for most vegetable roots. You can also plant tomatoes from a hole in the bottom and then plant something else on the top, then hang.

Currently have potatoes in one to see how this works…..just trying to think outside the box.

          PKLL

          • http://strawbalegardens.com/ take a look at this site and then pop your straw bales in the canvas bags perhaps?

When I lived in a flat, I always had a pretty basket of hanging strawberries and one of cherry tomatoes right by my front door. Cheered up a miserable looking tenement city balcony no end, and was practical too.

the canvas bags also work with the principles of a method called square foot gardening http://squarefootgardening.org/square-foot-gardening-method

This is the time to experiment and find the most effective method for YOU.

I like tiny plots as kids as young as 3 can then be charged with tending a crop, or raise them and even the infirm can be of practical use in your food production efforts. I also think for those of us without acres of land to spare that it enables you to plant as wide a variety of plants as possible – we should all heed the warning provided by the one crop dependent unnecessary peasant farmer deaths of the Irish famine.

        • Nino has a site of his own. I must admit I am impressed he finally step up and started his own site. You don’t have to agree with him. But I will defend his right to vet his speak out.

We will see if he is as fair as Mac. Just posted there. If he allows my post he said is starting on the right path for open discussion.

And if you don’t lime to hear his words just don’t go there. That’s how it is suppose to work.

I thought he was stepping up. But I was right during the coco wars. Travis is only interested in spreading hate and BS.

And instead of stepping up. He open his site because he had too. Everyone is catching onto his bullshit. And he no where to post left.

I relieved at your response because he mentioned you and your wife helped him/her build the site. It really made me question visiting here because I know what nina stands for and I always held you in a higher moral class.

        Three sheets to the wind

        Commode huggin’ drunk
        Fall off the wagon
        Paint the town red
        Plastered
        Sloshed

Three sheets to the wind- where did this come from? Does it have anything too do with cowboys in Wyoming? And laundry?

Tie one on- not sure about this one either. Must have something to do with firmly attaching a state of intoxication to ones self

Shit faced- obvious. That’s how you look after the 8th shot of whiskey.

Commode huggin drunk- self explanatory. It’s what you do while pleading with God not to kill you for your foolishness. All while puking up your spleen into the porcelain bowl.

Fall off the wagon- this one must go back to the pre-automobile days. When a guy would lose his perch atop the buckboard on the way home from Miss Kitty’s.

Paint the town red- obviously, this is a euphemism for having a rowdy, festive night in the community. But, why red? Was blood involved?

Plastered- does this have anything to do with carpenters? And stucco? Just wondering…

Sloshed- the sound a bottle makes when half full and jiggled. Same sound you make when the booze is in you and your jostled about…

        • Smokin.

$100 will still buy quite a bit of Oly. Hangover guaranteed….

          • They don’t make Oly anymore. Someone pissed in the water. Really.

          • Just another old man….

As a crowded airliner is about to take off, the peace is shattered by a 5-year-old boy who picks that moment to throw a wild temper tantrum. No matter what his frustrated, embarrassed mother does to try to calm him down, the boy continues to scream furiously and kick the seats around him.

Suddenly, from the rear of the plane, an elderly man in the uniform of an Air Force General is seen slowly walking forward up the aisle. Stopping the flustered mother with an upraised hand, the white-haired, courtly, soft-spoken General leans down and, motioning toward his chest, whispers something into the boy’s ear.

Instantly, the boy calms down, gently takes his mother’s hand, and quietly fastens his seat belt. All the other passengers burst into spontaneous applause.

As the General slowly makes his way back to his seat, one of the cabin attendants touches his sleeve. “Excuse me, General,” she asks quietly, “but could I ask you what magic words you used on that little boy?”

The old man smiles serenely and gently confides, “I showed him my pilot’s wings, service stars, and battle ribbons, and explained that they entitle me to throw one passenger out the plane door on any flight I choose.”

        • Three sheets to the wind comes from sailing, I believe. When the sail is tied down, it has an even number of sheets or lines holding it in place. An odd number means something is loose and the boat goes meandering. Or something like this since I’m not a sailor.

Plastered- the story I heard was that this related to many years ago when workers would supposedly add beer to plaster to make it stick better. I have also heard that one such worker was found face down in a tub of plaster still clutching his beer and people joked about the deceased as being plastered.

Paint the town red- no one knows the origin. It might refer to an incident in which some rowdy young men did actually paint a town red as a prank. Or it might refer to going out and getting in fights that leave the town a bloody mess. Or rioting and burning the town down with the red being the flames of the fires. As far as I know- no one really knows- so pick the story you like the best.

        • Paint the town red= High Plains Drifter.

        • Soused, shnookered, pie eyed, hammered.

          • fucked up- and in Canada- pissed

            toasted
            twisted
            tits up
            shit faced.

          • Drunk as a lord, drunk as an owl, pissed, floating, fried.

      35. I need some help. What are the elites, rich, etc. putting back, hording to keep them wealthy? It cannot be dollars (FRN’s), they are fake, fiat so is it gold, silver, PM’s, land or what. To me it just doesn’t add up, (money), for the collapse no way, it has to be something more. For me in the so called COLLAPSE that’s headed our way if you want to be wealthy; I put my future wealth in Potable Drinking Water first, second Food, Third Defense, with First, and Second; RENEWABLE, now there is future wealth. Not as much as PM’s. And if the big wigs need a drink, a helping of green beans, take some PM’s in exchange.

      37. I am always astonished at the naivete of many preppers. Do not underestimate the suite of power options the government has. They can come and snatch your gold, they can take your business, they can, in short, requisition every resource they feel they need to keep the show on the road in a crisis. The laws are there to do it and the historical precedents are there to prove it.

There is no way most people will be able to avoid government scrutiny of their gold hoarding. We live in the digital age, and it is much easier to use that to tax your hoarding out of existence.

Look at how people may bitch these days but accept the new taxes for health care. The government isn’t stupid: they will just creep the stuff in and then use women, the politically correct and new migrants to turn the heat up on the ‘crackers’ and angry white men to get them to pay up. Just imagine an attack ad that goes like this:

“White man with large pot belly in shadow profile.

Narrator: Frank never trusted the government. He never trusted his neighbors; not even the sweet women from El Salvador who worked all hours to deliver care at the nearby hospital. Instead, Frank used his wealth to buy weapons and ammunition. He also hoarded rooms and rooms of precious metals and food.

But one day, Frank had a heart attack while out on his lawn watering the flowers. Maria saw him and she saved his life with her quick thinking and training. All that gold and all those tins of food did not save Frank that day: instead, it was little Maria from San Salvador who saved Frank. She never asked for a ‘thank you’ because she quickly went back to work nursing a ward of long-term care patients.

Now, Frank thanks his lucky stars every day that Maria saved his life and he can still play with his grand children. And for the gold and the tinned food? Frank donated the gold to the hospital and the tinned food to the local food bank. And now Frank is a wiser man. He loves and trusts his neighbors, not inanimate objects.

        Do you know a ‘Frank’?

        Call 1-800-LETFRANKKNOWYOUCARE”

        • $$$ scam … do not call frank .

        • FT, what’s this? Your dialogue of mirror conversation? Feelin’ guilty? I’ve got SOME food, SOME pm’s, and SOME guns and ammo and don’t feel put out in the least. Matter of fact, just for you…..I’m gonna go out and buy another 500 rounds to stick in my cache. As far as governments power….well no shit Sherlock. I don’t think anyone here underestimates what the PTB are capable of. A lot here are 40-70 year olds and no longer get starry-eyed by bedtime stories.

          • 500 rounds? Isn’t that considered an arsenal in Illinois/Calif?

      38. Been outside most of the evening listening to the night trains. The low lonesome whistle sings a song of a distant place and time…

Scratch and Fleabite began riding the rails back in the 30’s. I never knew their real names, but it didn’t matter. They were best of friends and spent most of the depression, and many years afterward, as hobos. They knew the best places to scrounge a meal, hop a slow-moving box car, or when necessary, to ‘borrow’ an item or two for trade.
Scratch was older by a decade, but Fleabite was the obvious leader of the pair. He had the brains for it, having gone all the way through the eighth grade. Both men carried a spoon in their pocket (you never know when you’ll need it) and a small army issue can opener. Aside from that, their pockets were generally empty.
Fleabite was rumored to have once been a classically trained clarinet player, some even claimed he’d played at Carnegie Hall. That may not be true, but he was definitely a talented musician. More than once, he earned his dinner playing Red River Valley on the moonshine jug. I guess he just had the gift.
I met them one summer, in 1969. I was a naive kid and they were both getting up in years by then. They’d given up hoboeing and shared a small house across the street from my grandparents in Tulsa. Scratch, now in his mid 80’s spent his days sitting in a big wooden rocker out on the front porch. He’d never learned to read, but he pretended to, often holding a newspaper upside down and staring at it.
Fleabite, still spry at 75, did most of the cooking and housework. One day he called me over to his yard, “Hey, kid. I’ll give you two dollars to mow the front yard for me.”
Two dollars being a huge sum of money back then, I jumped at the offer. The two of them sat on the porch and watched as I mowed. One hour, and several blisters later, I finished and pushed their rusted old reel-type mower back into the garage. There was lots of junk in there, but no car. “Say, mister, where’s your car?”
Scratch looked at me, then at Fleabite, and winked, “Sonny, the Ferarri is in the shop for a tune-up. And the Rolls was stolen the other day.”
Fleabite picked up the thread, “Yeah, them danged thieves! That’s the second Rolls we’ve lost this month.”
Scratch continued, “Never leave your keys in the car at the country club. Those folks just can’t be trusted.”

Thus began my acquaintance with the pair. For the next four summers they daily entertained and enlightened me (and probably amused themselves at my expense) with countless tales of their life ‘riding the rods.’ I never knew that two guys could have so much fun, and get into so many harrowing ordeals (always escaping by a hair’s breadth). Time permitting, we may shortly hear of the Adventure Of The Flaming Peanut Butter, or the Nine Foot Tall Midget…

        or, maybe not………

      39. Good Morning, SmokinOkie.

      40. 6.9 quake being reported off northern California coast

        • I was looking to see if BI has commented on it yet.

      41. No, the cost of living will go up much higher than 400%. The government isn’t going to give up overspending by a trillion dollars a year. As the economy implodes and the petrodollar dies the Fed will ramp up money printing even more. It will be like Weimar Germany or Zimbabwe where it takes a billion new dollars to equal what one old dollar used to be worth.

        • HHS gets $1T alone in barry’s new budget.

      42. This is foretold in Scriptures, coming to past before your and my eyes today in where and I am paraphrasing that it cost a days wages to buy bread (Revelation 6:6)

The rider on the black horse…..

        We call it hyper inflation……

Everyone be safe………do not fear……but aware and prepare…..

      43. @ Satori and Norse Prepper. On comment # 2955960, March 4 at 8:56 AM I gave a moderate chance of Northern California getting hit, which it did. This is the junction point between the Juan de Fuca plate and the Pacific and North American plate. This is why yesterday I told Mac to look at for a good size earthquake. I don’t usually do this with Mac, but this time I was that sure that I larger earthquake was on the way. The other areas also remain hot that were mentioned in comment # 2955960. Sometimes this system of predicting earthquakes works too well.

        • B.I.-

Any idea if there’s truth to a ‘USGS source’, per the govt suppressing geological data..that YELLOWSTONE seismic activity is accelerating?

          -see intellihub.com

        • That is one hell of a swarm going on off the Cal coast,,,

        • Nice call BI

        • Be informed
I hope you dont get disappeared for what you do here. Stay careful. You know what I mean.

          • @ Calgacus. If I get disappeared it will be because I have a big mouth and maybe a lack of sense. 😉

      44. It’s coming soon prepare. Watch the price of oil for clue to when it will explode in the Mid-East. Study, research, and do whatever it takes to learn guerrilla warfare tactics, that my friends will be your best option in the upcoming fight. Remember YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN. You all are in my prayers and till we meet on the other side, Stand tall and look them in the eye. This is just my thoughts and May the odds be in your favor.
        Old Vet—OUT

(I’m leaving this wonderful site for one reason only this BULL SHIT OF 7 TO 8 HRS. that all my comments are in MODERATION, when some on here are posted a whole lot quicker!) In 8 hours you will be reading this.

        • Vet,just make up a fake e-mail account to go along with handle, the account does not have to be real, just use consistently when posting.Try oldvethatesmoderation @ snot.com,really though, anyone will work if used. You want to ad a link I just put a space between sayhttp, thus ht tp and rest of link, folks interested can paste and check out, otherwise live links do die in moderation

        • Old Vet….I truly hope you reconsider leaving this site…you have given wonderful information and insight…and recipes! I made the bread yesterday and am already thinking how to include rye, wheat, and raisin cinnamon into this recipe! PLEASE contact Mac if you are having difficulties! You are an asset to this site and I, among others, appreciate your input.

      45. Be Informed-so accurate it is scary this time with all the places that could be affected. I appreciate your expertise.

      46. Some places have caps on the real estate tax. So how are the thieving politicians going to get more money out of home owners? The Rain Tax. Yep. They measure your roof and driveway and all non permeable surfaces (I think that is the word). Then, when it rains, they measure the rainfall and using the tax formula, determine how much storm water from your property, goes into the sewers, and has to be processed by the government. And ta da, you get a Rain Tax bill. Ain’t it great?

        • Yes and the ‘Rain Tax’ is actually real. As incomes dwindle and incoming revenues drop, they will raise property taxes and others to even more outlandish levels.
Look for the internet sales tax to be widespread soon. Already exists in quite a few states.

          • They best hope it rains,as city hall and selectmans homes will be burning

        • “If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered”
          Ole TJ

      47. it pisses me off when i see long ass comments like the written books i see here..we all know the $ is dead and when the shtf not even the rich rich rich and their gold gold gold is going to save their pathetic souls..it does not take a rocket scientist to know that when the $=0 the alarms will be singing and the missle will be in full bliss..

      48. I have to admit it, I am feeling sorry for all those families of the “missing” Malaysian airliner. People just don’t know if the plane was bombed, mechanical failure, or it was hijacked and taken somewhere and the passengers are still alive in some holding area. It really is torture to not know if your relatives and friends are alive or not. It is strange they have not found anything floating around in the sea.

        • Bi; This flight 370 is kind of weird to say the least!! here is a couple of theories to ponder?
          (1) Like i have said on many occasions our military has weapons we don’t know a thing about, but what if they used a plasma type weapon on that plane to show the Russians a sign of what they are capable of! ( This evil or dark side have know empathy on human life) but they have know idea what the Russians have either?
          (2) This could very well be a distraction created as Sandy Hook,Boston M,or 9/11 etc. they just need a few more actors and video’s.It will not surprise me if they find the wreckage soon! As soon as they find someone to blame?

“Truly is say onto you, watch the thoughts within your mind.Choose what you will believe carefully. For what you believe, you believe in Heaven.Although it may hide Heaven from your sight.”

          Thinker

          • @ Thinker. This old Twilight Zone, Odyssey of Flight 33 comes to mind IF the plane is never found.

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RuIrMADj9U

I hate to say it, but IF this plane is not found I am thinking that what these mad scientists are doing with the Hardon Collider in Switzerland may be opening up something in space that the plane flew into.

I think they will find something and terrorism has it written all over this, but IF they don’t they DON’T, they you have to start to think the outlandish and totally out of the box theories, EVERYONE OF THEM.

      49. I know I’ve said this before, but I like to let the new readers know that you can still purchase a small can of chicken for $1 along with cans of vegetables with an expiration date of 2017 now.

Buy just 10 extra cans a week and within a month you’ll have a good stock of canned food.

        ( booksbyoliver.com )

        • Ohio, agree completely,as I like to say(too often)the smalls add up,oh,make life easy, get a good can opener.I would though mix it up even on limited budget with rice/noodles/you get the idea

          • Well said, I have 3 handheld can openers. What’s so good about buying ust 10-15 cans a week is that all that a person purchases can be consumed so they really are not out extra money. Have a nice and warm week.

            • I still have 2 P-38 hand held can openers from the late 1960’s. If my fingers work, they work. Fits in my wallet. Where the money should have been.

              • Yes, we used to wear one around our necks in Viet Nam.

              • I never leave home without my P-38.

              • Maudy, instead of asking what a 38 was looked up p-38 opener,if quality metal construction do they work well?Keep in mind in tough times/survival situation you want to avoid all cuts as more risk infection ect.,actually I guess one wants to always avoid cuts but you get my point, can they do a good job if say shivering a bit ect.Though hard to find good ones why I like the turn handle style though see the 38 a good bug bag addition.

                • The military issue P-38s work real good. There are after market ones that are a bit larger, but not as good. Try an Army/Navy surplus store. They sometimes even have Viet Nam era trauma bandages. I keep one of those in my glove box. One in my range bag. You never know.

                  • Maudy ,just ordered a set of 10 of 38’s&10 51’s off ebay, they are the Shelby. When my paw heals will try a few out and let board know what I think of each,in bulk these are priced about .30 and is the shelby ones, did a bunch of research/reading on the openers, damn,my paw needs to heal soon before i go crazy!x

                • WC, If you can find them, get the P-51. Just a tad bigger than the p-38, but you can use the 51 with gloved hands.

              • My P38 is on my key chain.

              • yupe, got the one my father was issued while he was in the Army back in the late 50’s. Still works good to this day.

p-38 good nickle dime barter item, get some.
another nickle dime barter item, bic lighters, get some.
think of stuff people use everyday that don’t cost much now.

            • P38 ain’t bad, but if my pants are on I’m ready. Right side of belt 45ACP, and left side of belt Leatherman Super Tool at all times. Canopener and many other useful items to use when the Schumer Hits The Fan. Trekker Out. Semper Paratus!

        • Anybody besides me noticing how more and more, it is getting harder and harder to find soup, food, and meat cans that don’t have those pop-top rings on them?

That pop-top arrangement is NOT going to keep the contents of that can preserved and safe to eat for as long as the expiration date on the can advertises. Call me a conspiracy nut, but I have a suspicion that they are doing this deliberately – switching from the air-tight, factory sealed can tops to the pop-tops, so as to shorten the amount of time preppers can store away food for the SHTF event.

          • I have noticed, and soup seems to be getting much more expensive too. I lucked out and found campbell’s beef stew 5 for $5 and jumped on as many as I could get.

            • @ SIXPACK…I will be going through S.O in a few days. I can drop off some semi precious consumables for your smith at no charge if you need. I only go through once a year and sleep in my car at a truck stop, so now is the time if you are running low or just want more. Dave

              • gun: sixpack6t9(at)yahoo—put yur name in the “from” line so I’ll know who you are.

                • why thumb down? The NSA already has my email address, and I can quickly block anybody else I don’t like. I’m not part of a team, and it has to start somewhere. I’m not scared—I’m prepared.

Anybody else got any better ideas, besides sitting on my ass in front of my computer, doing nothing?

                • Email sent

          • Tucker-

The pull ring, ‘pop-top’ lids on soup cans are in fact air tight. That’s how canning in general works. The lid is a non-permeable barrier so no air is pulled back into the slight vacuum of the can. I can post the patent number to the lid for review if you wish to study it.

When you open canned goods, the seal is broken and air rushes in. Also an easy way to tell if canned goods are bad before you open the can….it may be bulging, which is a tell tale sign you don’t even want to open it.

The pop-top soup can lid is actually a great invention and is pretty much the same as the lid on cans of SPAM.

          • Pop-top cans have more to do with convenience than conspiracy.

      50. @ Hunter. Helium4 gas is something that is usually very deep in the planet, it is also abundant on the Moon. This does not mean that Yellowstone is ready to erupt. It does mean that there is a fissure that is large enough to be releasing it. However to release the amount of magma necessary to have an eruption would require something much more massive. A large enough earthquake can cause this size of fissure.

IF Yellowstone was immenient then the people in towns such as Moran or Cody Wyoming would be going nuts from the earthquake activity. With a supervolcano you don’t get microquake activity, you get 4-5’s constantly. Remember Mt. St. Helens on a 1/1000 scale of all the increase earthquake activity before it went off? The ground swelling would not just be a few inches or a few feet. A supervolcano would have ground sweeling that would correspond to the scale of the size of amount of magma ready to be released. People are comparing a tiny volcano with a massive volcano with the amount of discharge that would soon be released.

This is why I use the analogy of a bicycle tire with one of those monster truck tires with s upervolcano to a standard volcano. You will get massive indications of an impending eruption that no government could ever hide. The common precursors you see before a volcano goes off would be magnified many times over and frightening as hell. In fact a supervolcano without something that sets it off would takes weeks or mnths to build up before going off. As long as something like an earthquake doesn’t open things up, before Yellowstone goes off people will know much time in advanced. South America, southern Africa, Australia, New Zealand, etc. will become immigration hot spots for much of the northern hempishere’s people.

      51. If your a veteran or a disabled veteran SOME states will freeze your taxes.
Here in Arkansas I pay only $750 per year in taxes and it’s NOT suppose to go up. Also in Arkansas they have super low Registration fees for veterans, it’s like $2.75 to register your vehicle for a year and it don’t matter what it is, 76 Chevy Pickup or a 2014 Rolls Royce it’s still $2.75.
So it might be something to check into, IF you can relocate to a state who is a little more veteran friendly. At least you will not be taxed out of your home.

      52. The people of the Ukraine are getting a preview of our fate. The IMF now running the country has announced austerity is coming, with pensions cut by 50%. And of course, the gold is being stolen.
        http://newswire-24.com/2014/03/07/4827/

The Rothschilds will put the world back on the gold standard – as soon as they complete the theft of all gold. I predict: the penalty for we the proles to possess gold will be death. Invest in silver and lead.

        • Penalty for having gold death, fuck, along with steel encased copper that right there if didn’t already would make me want to hold physical gold!

      53. In these last days, nothing else should matter, except getting out of America. America is destined to fall. I read the Bible and it tells me that America is the Great Babylon. It tells me that an angel will bemoan her falling. He will ride the sky yelling out loud, “Babylon, Babylon how you have fallen within an hour!” Something similar to that. When you look at what it describes as Babylon, no other nation comes close to what it describes as does modern America. It even goes on to tell us how all our gold and silver won’t matter and how people will throw it out into the street. It goes on to describe the horror of what is about to unfold on America. America will become a hissing sound, a place where foxes and coyotes are all that lives on it. My own guess is that what is not destroyed in the initial blasts from the incoming ICBM’S will be so radiated that nothing will be able to survive on it. It will look like Chernobyl on a grand scale. Town’s and city’s empty decrypted highways and bridges. Nothing alive or being able to exist on what is here now. Eventually the coyotes and foxes will make their inroads into these empty places and they will exist for a while without being affected too much by the radiation, although most will die eventually of the poison. Human beings will not venture far too north from Mexico and these will be made up of former Americans and others from Canada who will now be living in Mexico city or a little north of that. Most people will have gone south to South America or back to Europe and Australia and places like that. That is those that are left, of which not many will be around to make that claim. Most of us will die in the blasts at the beginning, it will happen quickly and without too much warning, although we should leave now, most of us are unbelieving even when we read the word of God and know that it is truth, yet we continue to believe that God will somehow save us. He is trying now by telling you what is going to happen and telling you to leave and go somewhere else to escape this horror. Just think why do you think he doesn’t tell this to the Homos and pedo’s on the Internet? He is telling you this on a website called SHTH! Why? Because he loves You and want’s you to not suffer the wrath of his judgement on America. Why would he move the Israelite and have him go to different locations? To escape judgements and bad times that were coming to those places. Look at Sodom and Gomorrah, why do you think he told Lot and his family to leave? Because he wanted to save them from the judgements that these places were about to experience. Why do you think he saved Noah and his family? To save them from the judgement to come. Same thing here, he want’s us to leave. America is not a bastion of freedom or of Christianity. Just the insanity of the abortions alone being committed in America alone is bad enough to require judgement from God. Then every thing else that is alive and existing in this nation. It’s as if the doors of hell are open and every awful and evil thing from hell is taking place here on America. From are dark government entity’s that start with the Prince of darkness, all the way down to the common man who does not acknowledge God and has no fear of him. Just my own thoughts on this. Bty, I have been having dreams of the end of America for about 20 years now. I always see it burnt, completely burnt, with nothing, not even a blade of grass escaping the scorch. Nothing stands. God be with all of you and I hope that you take time to read your bible or someone else bible and that you pray about what God wants you to do. God Bless!

        • With respect go ahead and run but the evil in this world knows no borders and respects no peoples…it will track you down and it will overtake you no matter where you go on this planet…sure we have problems in this nation but that doesnt translate America into being babylon…you can choose to believe that if you want to but its being speculative at the very least and at the worst, well I wont go there…sorry I dont buy it and I aint leaving…hope you find something better/safer/more holy some where else but I wont be holding my breath for you Ill stand or fall with the freemen and women who stand for freedom but I wont run, this is my native ground,I intend to defend it…thanks REB

      54. I was just in the storage room organizing….again!
Did anyone notice when the Sweet Sue chicken and dumplings can went from 24 oz. to 20 oz.??
It isn’t even the same height, is you can’t have 24 oz. in the case of 20 oz. unless they are in the middle. 🙁

        • Theres no inflation,,,,
          The gov says so

        • @ Satori. Not at all. I base my predictions on the movement of plates that pull apart from each other, divergent, and slide past each other, transform to show what is coming. There are decades of records that show how these same spots are hit again and again and a major earthquake follows in the same locations. This is likely because these are ancient connection lines between these spots. I said a couple of weeks ago that California had a bull’s eye on it because of the earthquake in the Drake Passage. Boom, 6.9 or 7.2 depending on the seismic station. This is why I try to warn everyone when there is an earthquake in this area, it links to increased activity in California.

Fracking can induce a 5.7, but I only usually deal with earthquake 6.5 and over. There is more than 20 times the energy released in a 6.5. It is still something to watch how manmade activity can cause earthquake. One manmade activity that increases earthquakes is putting a dam right on top of a fault. This has increased the time period between large earthquakes in India and China for example. The Long Beach earthquake of 1933 that was a 6.3 was thought to be caused by the oil extraction around Signal Hill during the 1910’s and 1920’s that was massive. This caused an imbalance with the Inglewood/Newport thrust fault and probably sped up the time when the fault broke.

Plates still are the governing force behind earthquakes and people can talk about HAARP causing this 6.9 off California, but I can prove different. Drake Passage just like decades before, when it gets active so does California most of the time. Atka, Alaska gets active and then Yellowstone does. The planet is much more connected to itself than anyone realizes.

By the way Satori, I again thank you for all the interesting links to what many of us never see. IF they don’t find that plane, we may be exploring some OTHER reasons behind its disappearance. I am wondering about rifts in space in which things can vanish into. There are some strange counts in the Bermuda Triangle area over the centuries. I think the plane was terrorist attacked, but I am not ruling out the OTHER explanations that only an imagination has boundaries towards.

          • thanks for the info BI
I always look forward to your posts

      55. Life’s too short to read all the comments, so I’ll post this now and then go back and see what people are saying.

Self-styled “experts” keep saying “buy gold, buy gold, buy gold”, but what good will that be when the crash comes? Would you willingly (and I emphasise that word “willingly”) hand over a gold coin for a loaf of bread? How long do you think your gold will last at that rate of exchange?

Metals are a way of hedging your bets if you’ve got money to spare, but the primitives that own both the banks and most of the gold will be laughing all the way to their privately-owned bank as people hand over large quantities of the bankers’ paper IOUs in exchange for an ounce or two of the bankers’ gold.

They print the dollars. They own the gold. Give them some of their own pieces of paper in exchange for some of their metal. How can they lose?

What happens if they decide to “confiscate” (steal) the gold as they’ve done in the past?

As an investment, silver and gold can help us through a partial crash, but if the stuff really hits the fan we’ll be wishing we’d spent less on metals and more on essentials.

Gold may have a pretty colour that appeals to the primitive minds of the bankers, but it doesn’t taste very nice when there’s no food in the shops.

        • Yup. If gold goes up to $10,000 an ounce, it would be good to have a dozen ounces to sell and pay off the property, but for getting by day to day, you need food, shelter, water, medicines, and security.

          • Smokey

Your Uncle Sam will be there with his enforcer the IRS to take 30-40% of that 10k.

            • Guess we gotta take the taxes into account. Make that about 17 ounces.

      56. I make a little over $13 an hr, my electrical bill this last month was $291 and that is keeping my temp at 61 and closing off rooms not in use. My gas bill is $85 a week to get back and forth to work, just spent over $70 in groceries for a week and I don’t know if it will last me.
Take out my federal tax and state tax, think it’s 6.8% then you are no better off than your example of this guy in Europe.
My taxes on my home since ’02 has doubled to $1000 a year my insurance on My home as tripled to $1600 a year. Insurance on my vehicle is $1000 a year.
My. Costs have risen extremely in the last several years for me.

        • My insurance on the house is only $880 a year, that’s with replacement coverage. You might want to shop for a better deal. Have you had some claims recently?

Since ’02, my property taxes have doubled, too. Paying $250 a month in taxes is bullshit, to me. No new hydrants on the street, no more cops driving by, no new schools built, just the same as always. Big ripoff.

If you have gas lines available in your neighborhood, seriously consider spending the bucks for conversion. Or maybe get a high-end wood stove, 5 cords of wood are about $800 here, that will last a year in decent climate.

        • Sounds like you live in NJ

      57. This article is complete hysterical jive based the absurd, false notion that if the US stopped squandering TRILLIONS on subsidizing ethanol, Planned Parenthood, NPR, The EU, The UN, The IMF, global warming, 5 meals a day in public schools, Obama’s friend’s Green Energy companies that squander $billions but never produce a product, AIDS research, Academia, and bridges to no where, that we are all going to die. That is a barge load of Animal Dung.
This very type of spending has destroyed the country, creating a massive class of MOOCHERS(the “intellectuals”)and LOOTERS(Politicians,Bureaucrats,Police,Courts,Lobbyist, and Attorneys)that live opulent lifestyles off the virtue of people with REAL skills, intelligence, and ability.
If anything cutting every dime of subsidies would be a damn good start.
Chaos will erupt, when those who actually CREATE those filthy profits that PAY for all these dumb F#$k subsidies, have had enough of being victimized and STOP FUNDING those with no ability that demand the unearned.
