What will you do in a crisis without life saving medicine and antibiotics?

If society breaks down, hospitals, pharmacies and clinics will be unavailable, and the medicine you or a loved one need may be unavailable.

Clearly, this means you need to have to supplies on hand, particularly for anyone who is dependent upon insulin or other medications that can be deadly if disrupted.

But those supplies will only go so far. Something that is also important to do is become familiar with medicinal herbs and plants, and grow some of the ones that could be most useful to your family or network.

Wilderness and homesteading survival teacher Marjory Wildcraft shows how you can grow and process your own medicines – many of which are more potent and potentially beneficial than those developed in the medical industry. Best of all, it is relatively simple to do:

Yes, you can make your own anti-biotics at home. I’ll show you how to make a really super powerful one (it’s easy to do). Anyone can do it. Most people will want to do this in their backyards or on a patio. But I suppose you could do it indoors too. This one I’ll show you how to make is way more complex than anything the pharmaceutical companies can produce, yet it is simpler and easier to make. No, you won’t need a lab of chemistry set. No, you won’t need microscopes or chemicals. Nope, you won’t even need a spectrum analyzer….

This particular anti-biotic not only helps boost your immune system for any time you have an infection, but it is also good for when you have a cold, it’s known to help lower cholesterol and high blood pressure, it’s been known to help balance blood sugar, fight cancer, fight fungus, and more.

The answer is simple… Garlic is perhaps the single best natural antibiotic, and very well known for staving off colds, infections and for overall supporting a healthy immune system and restoring good health.

Quite simply, garlic is well worth growing, eating and having around, as this video demonstrates. Adopt some of the best practices for growing and storing it, and it will always be around.

There are, of course, many other important medicinal plants that can be grown and utilized than just garlic:

Sara an expert in Medicinal plants explains the properties of several different plants and what their uses are for different ailments. This is information that could save you lots of money in buying medicine and can help you live a healthy diet. Filmed at the eco village of Valdepiélagos, Madrid

According to Sara (in the video above), these plants and many more can address many health issues, including some of the most serious.

    • Stevia isn’t just a “sweet leaf” to be used as a sugar substitute, but eating the leaf or its extract can help regulate blood sugar (not in the processed form used by soda companies).

    • Kalanchoe Daigremontiana can strengthen the immune system and reportedly even fight cancer.

    • Melissa and Evalouisa – Plants from these families both have similar medicinal properties for digestive and stomach relief, as well as as a sleep aid.

    • Caledonia can help with cataracts (the orange liquid can be put in the eyes) or for cuts on the skin

•Artemisia Annua is another powerful anti-bacterial that can fight malaria and other serious diseases.

    • Galio can be used to regulate the hormonal system

    • Epiolobium can reduce inflammation in the prostate

(Note: some of these names may be more familiar to Spanish speakers, or go under a different name elsewhere)

There are, of course, hundreds of more varieties of plants that you can cultivate, but you will need to do your own research. Many plants are found in certain regions only, and others may be difficult to grow outside of their typical climate.

Though they have been used for centuries, no one can guarantee they are safe for everyone, and most doctors and hospitals refuse to recognize the potential of these natural (and unpatentable) medicines.

Regardless of whether or not you endure a collapse or prolonged crisis situation, these are valuable skills that could improve your personal well being, or come in handy as a tradable and necessary skill within a self-reliant community or survivor group.

Along with goods and precious metals, exchanging skills & service is a useful part of any barter economy that could thrive under the right circumstances of determined and freedom loving people.

      1. Very useful information!

        Thank you for posting this!

        • Agreed!

          • Just a quick question off topic for anyone who might know. Was the Japanese stock market down last night? Reason being the final number for Nikkei225 (-624) looked be the same number as final for the prior session..

            • PO’d Patriot,

Bloomberg stated the previous close was 17,290.49.

The Nikkei dropped significantly last night. The closing number was unusual. The Nikkei225 closed at 16,666.

              • Thanks KY Mom. I was just wonderin’ cause it appeared to me that the same exact deficit/loss numbers were posted two days in a row. Just looked strange. Thought maybe there was a holiday or something.

                • they were closed a day early and they are a day ahead in time zones

                  • Japan is having a holiday called Golden Week until May 05. Maybe there are lots of closed companies & businesses. Not sure about the stock market being closed ……

            • PO’d, I have discovered a tea that is great for pain.

              5Lbs. frozen/thawed elderberries
              12lbs. sugar
              2 teaspoons distillers yeast
              yeast nutrient

Mix all ingredients together and let sit at room temp for 2 weeks rack and bottle. Mash the berries first though 🙂

              • Lmao, good for pain till morning comes….That does sound mighty good. Love elderberries, blue berries, black berries, raspberries and strawberries. Just bought some supplies from Barley and Hopps.com Great folks to deal with.

              • Genius, all 4 of my elderberry bushes made it through winter. They ate good dried and in teas and for tinctures… I’d call your recipe a tincture 😉 elderberry is a primo medicinal. I have White Sage, a top First American medicinal, Yerba de la negrita, horehound, rosemary, and others. It is important. Ordered milk thistle seeds the other day, it is awesome for liver (that’s you Genius), and cholesterol and blood sugar.

                • Ha ha ha, ya reb, I know what yer sayin. My wife went to a class the other day on berrries and she told me that elderberries need 2 seperate spieces in order to produce, Kinda strange but they are the authority around here. I get mine from the mountain above our cabin which sometimes produces and sometimes not. Milkthistle is good ya but I don’t have much around here. EEhhhh fook it, if I get some terminal illness I will try and treat it with herbs , if I die, so be it. I’m old enough and had a good life, I just shake my head at the new generation (and the old fools)……

            • Japan is celebrating a Holiday week called Golden Week and there are many closed businesses (from April 29 thru May 04 I think).

          • And I Love Garlic. Awesome flavoring and its healthy. Also keep in mind the Mexicans eat a lot of Hot Peppers which will also kill the crap in the naughty’s in the water, they drink.

The earth provides everything, not Pharmaceutical Frankenstein chemical concoctions for profit, and designed to get you to be a co-dependent and wasted.

Antibiotics? Got your Fish Antibiotics yet? Delivered to your door. All part of the Prepping Plan Maze.

~WWTI.. Silver rocked above $18 on Friday to $18.05 before settling back to $17.94. Got to love that. We are on our way..

        • “ditto”

        • Yes:

This is what we need. Thank you.

        • Along with primitive self-defense and foraging, herb “doctoring” is something that is a MUST for true survival. Dandelions, clover, acorn meal–ground-up and leached for three days, cattail heads, thistle and plaintain (not the Latin cooking bananas) are some super-nutritious, plentiful, wide-spread, and very easily-identified and unmistakable foods that don’t require much of to keep someone alive and well. “Recipes not included”. From that base, one can branch out with other foraging. This is what the Indians lived off of for thousands of years. Not to be forgotten, though, are the enormous croplands– some of which can re-seed themselves (and actually, Providentially, will go back to wild), come SHTF– should be considered public domain for everyone to forage on, with enough for everyone. Defending one’s (and everyone else’) need to forage, which includes denying the enemy the ability to deny anyone else of the ability to forage, is a paramount stand one will have to take, come SHTF.

      2. You can brew a tea from ginger root. Helps with respiratory problems and reduces inflammation in the body…one of the main causes of physical problems. Gives some people a boost of energy.

Take a 6 inch piece of ginger root, cleaned and sliced into 1/8th inch diagonal slices. Bring to boil in 4 cups of water. Simmer for 30 minutes. Let cool, drain off liquid and sweeten to taste. Drink a glass in the morning. You can add lemon juice. Drink hot or refrigerate for later.

You can also make it more concentrated by tripling the amount of ginger root. Just add some water or do a smaller shot when drinking.

You can also brew ginger ale that actually has health benefits unlike the sugar water bought in stores. You can use the whey that separates from butter making or from sour cream and start a culture you keep in the fridge indefinitely like sourdough culture and use some every time you want to start a batch of ginger ale.

        The interwebs have directions.

As with most things, there are no guarantees.

        • I grow ginger in a large pot indoors… easy.

      3. MountainRoseHerbs sells many medicinal herb seeds and has bulk herbs and info. Naturalnews has a great herbal reference library. Ebay has good deals on bulk herbs and capsule machines and capsules (I recommend Cap M Quick). Purebulk has other than herbal things like amino acids, vitamins, compounds, etc. in powdered bulk form. One thing I do is find a suppliment let’s say heart and body extract for example and read the ingredients and make my own. You can save thousands by doing it yourself. Elderberries are a good antiviral also (and make great wine) 🙂 If I could only have 1 herb it would be tumeric.

        • I have begun taking black cumin seed oil a few days ago. The benefits are amazing and the price isn’t too bad. Link with info coming up.

          • Genius,
I started using cold pressed Black oil seed about a year ago and have followed it up with Pure Cordyceps from Aloha Medicinals, and I have been amazed at the energy it gives you, also i live at 7800 ft and when the weekenders come up they have a hard time trying to keep up with me and most of them are half my age, I found for me the best price for both of these is from Amazon, the Cordyceps comes in a 3 pack and is cheaper than from the company who makes them. just thought i would share my experience as well, hope this helps!

            • Apache, cool I will look into it. Thanks for the input I am always looking for proven health suppliments. Thanks again!

              • Found it… 35 bux a pound on ebay 🙂

      4. I think the subject is very valid, however Marjory Wildcrafts videos are not informational, they are just asking for money.

Go to You tube, everything is there and its free.

      5. Allicin capsules X1/day are a miracle.

No more otitis. No more cystitis. No more amoxicillin.

      6. Avocados are good for males. Avocados and walnuts have essential oil for brain health. Black walnut kills parasites. Cloves kills parasites. Apple seeds and the kernel inside an apricot contain vitamin B17 a form of cyanide which only can be accessed by Cancer cells. People have Cancer cells floating around all the time but they are kept under control by a healthy immune system. Good nutrition contains chemicals that cause Cancer cell death. It is when you stop consuming healthy foods that Cancer takes over and kills us.

        • You can reduce your risk of certain Cancers (breast and prostate) by sixty four per cent simply by eating three mushrooms and some onions every day, by ninety per cent if you add green tea. Do you think this is too good to be true. Either go read the clinical research papers to verify, or do what the peddlers of death suggest and cut off your boobs and balls.

      7. +1 for Curcumin and Ginger, bought fairly cheap in capsules on the www.

fyi… Fishmox/amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and lansoprazole (prevacid) is the recipe for killing the h-pylori bug that millions of people over 50 have inside of them- it might be related to having heartburn and worse.

I now have a shelf of books snagged for cheap at used bookstores, including herbal reference, pill info, first aid, etc.

      8. Sweetgum balls in their green form contain the same chemical as tamiflu.

      9. We have a potent, bitter, white Artemisia, which will bring a tear to your eye, when crammed and rubbed into an open sore of the mouth. Swelling, down into my glands, goes away within an hour and a half. ‘Herbal Medicine of the American Southwest’ compares it to interferon.

This and oregano are hardy and fairly easy to propagate from cuttings.

I have started to learn tricks, which use common things, laying around.

Some cactus spines can be rubbed with astringent herbs and used for needles.

And, aloe has dozens of uses, from throat to stomach to hair gel.

Cattail fluff for tinder, and willow bark for string.

When put on the spot, the patio, field, and ditch can be like a discount store.

      10. I live in Oregon. Pot is now legal. I didn’t grow up a puritan and have not burned one in a long time. It probably won’t cure cancer but maybe I will enjoy it more than mold spores. Hey Genius, how do you make papers after the collapse?
I think I’m going to raise a few plants.

        • Forget rolling papers and use a corncob pipe or a homemade bong.

        • Cannibis DOES KILL Cancer. Go to You Tube and watch “Run from the Cure.” Look at the side bar at all the Testimonials and other Sites for confirmation.

        • Use the OIL of cannibis. Truly amazing results.

      11. I use white sage (grows in every state) as an aluminum-free deodorant Artemisia ludoviciana. Horeb under is good for a sore throat and naturalized on my property. I grow quite a few herbs. Native American Medicinal Plants by Daniel Mormon is a good starting point to find native plants that work and are not tropicals… easy to grow stuff.

      12. I planted 150 garlic bulbils this year, garlic is powerful.

        • I planted about 8 garlic bulbs 7 years ago and haven’t touched them. They are now clusters and about 14 of them lol. The only water they get is from rain off the roof (snow piles and rain lol) But hey, they are tough, strawberries are the same!

      13. Come on people !

ALL OF YOU forgot the MOST IMPORTANT DIY AntiBiotic !

It is the greatest AntiBiotic agent
It is the greatest AntiViral agent
It is the greatest AntiFungal agent
It is the greatest Anti-Burn Anti-Inflammation agent EVER !

        What is it ?
You can make it at home when society collapses!

        COLLOIDAL SILVER !

        Get .9999 ( 4 9’s) or .99999 (5 9’s) purity of Silver Wire.
Pure Distilled Water (never use Mineral or Tap water as the Silver will preferentially bind to the dissolved salts rather than remain suspended)
Apply 30 Volts, preferably Direct Current

Wait until solution is an even Golden Honey Brown color.

      14. CS is right! Remember, true colloidal silver IS “golden honey brown” color. Clear supposed-colloidal silver is NOT colloidal, it is IONIC. (It works a little, but not as well as true CS, and can be toxic in large amounts, whereas true CS is not toxic.)
