Every year the Sydney Peace Foundation bestows their Global Peace Prize on extraordinary people who advocate for “true and lasting peace” by ending “war and violent conflict” through addressing “deep injustices and structural inequality.”
Previous years have seen such individuals as Noam Chomsky, Hans Blix and Archbishop Desmond Tutu receive the esteemed prize.
But this year the award is taking a different direction, and rather than being given to a single person, it is being awarded to an entire movement for the first time.
And the winner of the 2017 Global Peace Prize goes to…
Drum roll…
Black Lives Matter.
Black Lives Matter, the movement against racial inequality and police violence in the US which began as a powerful hashtag and became a global rallying cry, will be the 2017 recipient of the Sydney Peace Prize – the first time the often-controversial award has gone to a movement and not an individual.
The prize recognises the work of the amorphous racial justice movement that exists under the catch-all moniker, but has nevertheless managed to unite activists from around the world, including in Australia.

The Sydney Peace Prize jury’s citation for this year’s winners applauded the movement “for building a powerful movement for racial equality, courageously reigniting a global conversation around state violence and racism. And for harnessing the potential of new platforms and power of people to inspire a bold movement for change at a time when peace is threatened by growing inequality and injustice.”
But as Louder With Crowder points out, peace is not exactly how one would describe the activities engaged in and supported by Black Lives Matter:
It’s like people don’t have internet access. Memories. Basic motor functions. If they did, they’d be able to use the digits sticking out of their hands to peck a few letters into The Google. Just to verify if Black Lives Matter is worthy of an award bestowment. Like a kind of “vetting” process, if you will. Since the Sydney Peace Foundation lacks finger privilege, I did the search for them.

If this is what the Sydney Peace Foundation considers champions of peace, I’d hate to see what they think war is.
In a world where former U.S. President Barrack Obama is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 for doing absolutely nothing and then subsequently orchestrating campaigns that have led to the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of people across the world it would make perfect sense for the Sydney Peace Foundation to award a similar prize to an organization whose immediate membership and loosely based offshoots advocate for racial segregation, violent protest, and the killing of police officers.
In the eyes of some, peace is war.
Based on this example maybe Kim Jon Un wins it in 2018.

Something bad just happened. My Mexican friend just passed away in the heat yesterday. The heat has been really bad in Houston and I over heated at the BOL 2 weeks ago, but you guys know that i am always prepared, and had water melon and other fruits with me, but the heat and humidity was intense, we had to literally bail. It been cool in Houston and the heat just suddenly came on with humidity of 85% with a heat index of 93..We were soaked in 20 mins, and we hydrated before and we had to leave in 1 hr. I over heated and knew I was in trouble, so I got in the water melon right away, and recovered quickly. Quick thinking is my thing. Its been unusually extremely hot around our city lately. This is the second time that death has struck in close proximity of me, too damn close, too close for comfort. He was one damn good Mexican American.. His wife is hurting badly from his death. I have to go by to comfort her today. I tell you man, life can be a real hell fucking hole.
I just talked to him just Wednesday evening. I feel like shit today. Life is a fucking bitch. I feel so bad for his wife.. When I see this like this happen in close proximity of me, if gave me a real fucked up feeling. This is why I don’t like globalist and other soldiers that like to come into our country to kill us and abuse us. Life is already a bitch just existing in civilian life, and now they want wars with us. You foreign invaders will literally feel the heat when you mess with us.

Heat index of 93. Wow. You would just die here in NC. We had a lot of days last summer in the 110+ range. Nothing happened to me, and I don’t even have air conditioning. I had to mow grass and do other yard work anyway.
You should come out this way Sunday. It’s supposed to be close to 90 with high humidity. So the heat index will be in the upper 90s, close to 100.

Back the blue legislation sponsored by Republicans is unconstitutional legislation for many reasons. Firstly, vague language is used. Laws must be written using concrete wording and not the vague language in this bill that could always be argued in favor of the police.
Citizens, journalists, and politicians jumping in on the band wagon to back a law which they have not entirely read is an assault on our country and civil liberties.
This law basically places law enforcement above the law. Anyone who feels that they are above the law, has no moral capacity to serve in law enforcement or any other branch of government. This law would exempt police officers from paying anything other than monetary damages for any crime regardless of their guilt and would exempt them from accountability for their actions. It would also award up to $20 million dollars of federal funds per each department in grants to state, local, and police departments which could likely be used for the further militarization of police forces.
The police killed 963 people in 2016. It is the citizens who are having their lives endangered by police, not the other way around.
There were 20 law enforcement officers murdered by guns in 2016 and the total officer down for 2016 is 53 which includes 21 killed in or by autos, and 12 by other causes.

The “milk of human kindness” has truly gone sour when anyone awards a prize to such a group. It is sort of like holding a parade in honor of that terrorist who killed all those people. The only bad guys I really liked were Boris and Natasha from the Rocky and Bullwinkle show.

That is why I come to this site. I enjoy the articles, and the good posts / commentaries that follow. Hcks, I am sorry about your friend. Last summer, my area had horrible heat, with high humidity and heat indexs in the 90’s to 100’s. I lived in my home with the central a/c going, being forced to do life’s errands early in the morning, or in the evening. ‘ I want to move out of here and away from the snow, but I don’t know if I could move to North, South, Carolinas, Georgia, or Florida with the heat and humidity.
They have made the Nobel prize irrelevant. It has turned politically correct now like everything else. It is based on how they look to people, not what the real goal of the prize is about. So, why listen to it?
