It can be difficult to understand the repercussions that would follow a collapse of the global economy, stocks and debt markets. While we know a serious financial event is coming, determining how it will impact our lives and preparing an appropriate strategic plan to mitigate the fallout can be a confusing and stressful undertaking.
The questions being asked by concerned Americans are plenty, but the answers are not so easy to come by. Should I keep money in my retirement accounts? What publicly traded companies are recession-proof? Will gold and silver really be of value if the whole system comes crashing down? Should I have some cash? How much food should I stockpile if the regular flow of commerce is affected? Will there be riots in my city?
In the following interview with X22 Report Spotlight, well known analyst and contrarian thinker Greg Mannarino of Traders Choice succinctly explains the challenges we face as individuals and as a nation. He doesn’t mince words and goes straight to the heart of the problem: out of control debt.
As Mannarino explains it, we are facing an event so serious that it will directly impact just about every person on earth. But before we can prepare for it, we need to understand what it is that’s going to happen and what a worst-case scenario may look like:
The central banks… by us adopting a debt-based economic model, which demands that cash be borrowed from the future in greater and greater amounts to sustain what we have here, have created an alternative universe which would not exist. If we did not have access to all of these funds that we’re borrowing from the future and inflating this debt we would not have the lifestyle that we have now.
It’s created a population boom… a population boom has risen in tandem with the debt. It’s incredible.
So, when the debt bubble bursts we’re going to get a correction in population. It’s a mathematical certainty.
Millions upon millions of people are going to die on a world-wide scale when the debt bubble bursts. And I’m saying when not if…

When resources become more and more scarce we’re going to see countries at war with each other. People will be scrambling… in a worst case scenario… doing everything that they can to survive… to provide for their family and for themselves.
There’s no way out of it.
…
They understand where this is going… Let’s put this into perspective… The world’s central banks, by going negative [interest rates] they’ve turned the entire financial system upside down. That’s how desperate they’ve become. They’re charging people to put cash into these institutions…
It can’t work. It’s not how it’s designed to work.
So, that should tell us all how close we must be to this moment.
As Mannarino notes, it should be obvious that we are on the very cusp of an implosion of the debt-based system upon which our entire societal structures are built. When that system falls, so too will life as we have come to know it.
Hoping Mannarino is wrong, but assuming he’s right with his assessment, we are looking at an event that may well lead to a bursting of the population bubble, something the late Michael Ruppert warned about a half-decade ago:
There are only two great bubbles on this planet left to go. The Chinese bubble and the human population bubble. And after the Chinese bubble goes the human population bubble goes.
Last week we highlighted a report suggesting that by 2025 the population of the United States could be reduced by up to 78% as a result of a global crisis such as what Mannarino describes.
The expansion of commerce, food, energy, housing, and just about everything else we’ve seen over the last fifty years has been the result of credit, and thus debt, expansion. Once credit markets seize up and no more debt can be thrown onto the backs of a populace who is broke and unable to repay their existing loans, the system seizes up.
To get a small-scale view of what an event like that may look like we need only look to Greece in recent years. When credit markets froze and their government, local businesses and population could no longer get loans and commerce essentially came to a standstill. Not only were jobs hard to come by, but access to medicine disappeared, people were fighting for food, and the power to the entire country was almost shot off.
In Greece we saw what happens to a thriving nation once the money stops flowing. It wasn’t pretty. Luckily, because it was just one country within the European Union, the-powers-that-be were able oversee the collapse much like a controlled demolition of a building.
But what happens when the same effect goes global, as Mannarino says it likely will?
Who will come to the rescue?
In the immediate aftermath, the simple answer is “no one.” The average person will be left to fend for themselves.
Assuming the worst case scenario comes to pass and the multi-trillion dollar global debt markets collapse, the immediate aftermath will indeed be met with panic. That will quickly turn to anger as people realize that no help is coming. Subsequently, as Mannarino recently noted, the world will become Baltimore.
So how do we prepare for such an outcome?
- First and foremost start acquiring essential resources now – that means food and medicine.
- Have a way to source clean water and energy, because in the middle of a crisis utility infrastructure workers will, just like you, stay home to protect their families.
- And on that note, have a way to defend yourself. When everywhere becomes Baltimore, emergency response from law enforcement will be virtually non-existent.
In her book The Prepper’s Blueprint, Tess Pennington outlines a long-term strategic preparedness plan designed to cover multiple layers of preparedness, from immediate emergencies lasting two to eight weeks, to longer-term sustainability for an extended crisis of one year or more.
Failure to plan accordingly will mean that you and your family will be directly exposed to the rioting, looting and violence as the system comes unhinged.
When a massive, unplanned disaster occurs, societal breakdowns, gang driven crime and chaos are all a part of what happens when a society is turned upside down. It is actually the people and not the disaster that create societal breakdowns. Unfortunately, some who participate in the breakdown of society feel their desperation is a justified reason and opportunity to steal. While some participate out of desperation to get what they need for their family.
However, the running theme in these scenarios is that desperation has no boundaries. This is the human condition and a harsh reality. When a person is in a desperate situation, they will stop at nothing to get what they need to survive. This is the entire point of preparing for disasters.
A person cannot rely solely on their country to rescue them. There has to be some sort of self sufficiency if a person wants a better chance at survival.
Hoping for the best will only get you so far. Planning for the worst may save your life.

Currently I’m working on getting an old military 2.5 ton box truck to remodel into motor home of sorts to live in, giving me an awesome all-heck-broke-loose-I’m-outta-here option. I’ve used my car to charge my laptop and I have several solar battery chargers and fist fulls of NIMH rechargeable batteries. You’ll find a ton of ways to do things and in time you’ll refine how you do things. You’ll find you use so much less. Like water, for example. You use a lot less water when you have to carry it in in a bucket. Look into kerosene stoves, kero lasts for years without treatment. Good luck to you and God bless!

I realized years ago that when this goes down the power is going to go out. The only way to prevent the power going out is for the government to force us to stay at work. There are two many power stations to do that in my opinion to control them all while having to control all the other violence taking place. When this happens I have no choice but to protect my family. The pay they would try to give out would be worthless paper at that point too.

Agreed. No sewage pumped means a huge surge in disease and people dying, so lots of dead bodies and few to bury them. Without fuel, dozers and backhoes could not be used to automate things. No traffic control. And that by the way, for “a job-ready person who is looking for work FULL TIME”, was supposed to pay for “rent” (of apparently a street garbage can (LMAO)) and bus pass that cost 85$/month at time, and the REST of what not!!!! Then we take the lessons learned and move on, through the transition of death to other spheres. We were born to live and die. Make your life meaningful, if only to your family, friends, and neighbors.
I have been out of the body. WE are Spiritual Beings first, designed to experience life in this dimension for a relatively short time. When death finally comes for you, embrace it.

.02: From my experience, I would say that yes, we have a physical body which is self evident.
Then we have a spirit, which is our individual consciousness (personality, intelligence, and the sum of our experience, etc) which naturally manifests as an etheric body in the spiritual realm.
The essence of which can be experienced by itself, in the physical, through that spiritual body (consciousness), in ways not unlike how we experience our physical five senses.
Then we have the soul, which is the Spirit of Life (Prana) from God, The Infinite Intelligence WHO created all things, visible and invisible; that births our consciousness, which then forms and animates the spiritual body in the womb, as it coalesces physical matter around our consciousness and growing self awareness toward identity.
The difference between us being that which you call soul (“mind”), I call the animating Spirit of Life from God (prana); with His Mind manifesting Creation by His Thought. This is the spark of divinity within each of us that makes us co-creators with Him, yet Agents of Free Will, and gives us life.
Life is an animating force. This animating force is soul.
Mind is consciousness: a collection of perceptions, emotions, memories and experiences analyzed and assimilated by intelligence for awareness, growth, and identity.
This is my understanding based upon my personal experiences in prayer, meditation, and experience on these subjects, in and through the Spirit.

To answer your question as to the parts of man (Body, Soul and Spirit)I say yes. Man has a body to which he interacts with others and God’s creation, his soul is the seat of his emotions, thoughts, desires and his spirit is the breath of God that continues throughout mankind from Adam until now. It is the spirit that was slain by sin and had to be revived by the Holy Spirit in order to become aware of his/her sin and ask for forgiveness. That happens because His Spirit (the Holy Spirit is a quickening spirit meaning it quickens (makes alive)our spirit because we are dead in our trespasses and sin prior to being born again.

Oh my God! All of you who are quoting scripture need to get a grip on reality. God helps those who help themselves, it is that simple. We are not headed for a biblical Armageddon. We are far from that. We may be sliding towards that in some far off time, but not now.
Most of you who have been on this great site know that I post now and again and for years posted on a regular basis. Not so much anymore, why? Because I got it. A major breakdown in society is coming. Actually it has already started it is that most of you and the world do not see it.
That is all you or anybody else needs to know. It has begun. If you have not prepped or have a good start on it then when the final collapse is here you will die. Simple enough? Meanwhile I just keep rotating my prep’s and have continued with my life with my family and friends like any other “normal” person.
But, and this is the crux of my point, Scripture quoting and biblical references will not protect you. Payer and a belief that Jesus Christ is your savior might help but having beans, band aids and bullets will get you farther in a SHTF situation.
So prep my friends like there is no tomorrow. Our God wants you to do so to stay safe. But at the same time he also wants you to enjoy life and all the joys he has provided you here on earth.

But bad things happen to militaries when they are ordered to shoot at their own people. It is one thing to shoot at “towel-heads” in a far-away land; it is quite another to be ordered shoot at somebody who could be your own brother down the street from where you grew up. I also think of the fall of the Iron Curtain, one significant event where the troops refused to fire on peaceful protesters in Leipzig. If you go to a base in NC, you will find few, if any, personnel who were born in NC. NC natives who join the military get shipped across the country. That’s the way it’s been for many years.

How many of those Jade Helm thugs are going to be from the local town they are invading? This is not the Army from the VietNam era where they were mostly draftees who held allegiance to those communities they would be (and actually almost were at one point) asked to invade and conquer, this is a professional standing army that our founders warned against.
Professional soldiers do what they are ordered to do -they’re just officially organized and trained mercenaries- they are not a part of the community. If their orders are to come out and take you into custody and kill you if you don’t comply without question that is what they will do: The same here as it is in Iraq or in Afghanistan.
I read an article a while back and it talked about the litmus test being given to the average enlisted man “Would you fire on Americans if ordered to do so”. The story went that those who said they would were then assigned to another unit, presumably filled with others of like thinking. That way they have their home grown units they know they can trust to blindly follow all orders. I don’t remember where I read that tho.
Rather than try relying on people from another part of the country, they are going to rely on Russian mercenaries to take patriots to FEMA camps. I believe they have been promised the property of those they kill or imprison.

Ummm… the 30 Years War is a good start on Catholic killings, on a percentage basis. And some of the Crusades, while generally justified as self defense against Muslim incursions (hey, they weren’t in Tours, France on a sight seeing trip), also killed a massive number of Eastern Orthodox. I wanna tell you one story from my SHTF time, it is about law abiding citizens and special police force.
First days of collapse are most chaotic in terms of panic and frightened people, so there is a picture of big number of people who do not know what to do, where to go, and what is gonna be. Looting everywhere, and when folks realize that nobody gonna punish them they just go wild.
One group of people (they all lived in same apartment building) choose to stay in, or to bug in speaking in survival terms. There were couple of days of chaos outside but nobody touched them in that building.
When things get more rough they choose to move in few apartments on same floor and stay together. Anyway after some two or three weeks there were some kind of peace outside. They were on watch on windows carefully checking what is going on, but they could not figure out anything.
Few hours later when dark start to fall they noticed group of some 30 policeman, with helmets, rifles and everything. Special police was still around and in first days after STHF they made weak attempts of putting riots down.
They moved in order and formation. Guys from the building were so happy to see them after weeks of rioting and chaos outside. They were first sign that things maybe get back to normal. They cheered and called them.
Police guys quickly stormed into the building and forced them out. They shoot them after quick search. After that they searched apartments for useful stuff. One of the guys who realized and ran for his life survived and told me his story. They were so quick and professorial in killing that most of the people did not even have time to ask for mercy.

Your bunker must be better than mine. I would have trouble surviving to a ripe old age if everything I grow and eat is nuclear radiated. It is not the reactors that are the problem. There is a shutdown button on them. They are also covered by huge steel and concrete domes. They should be okay.
The problem is the used fuel from the reactors. They are called spent fuel rods. They are still extremely hot. They are put into pools are water after they are used. They have cooling pumps that supply water. The cooling pumps have backups to backups to backups. The problem will be delivery of diesel fuel if the grid goes down. Each plant has about a 30 day supply.
It would not be as bad as a meltdown of the reactor but those spent fuel rods are still highly radioactive. I don’t work at a Nuke plant but that is my understanding of it in talking to friends who do.
Six pack and Mike-my son in laws father works at Diablo and I have been hoping to pick his brain a bit about this. This is a huge concern for me as we are not far from there. I avoid the beach that Diablos on (Avila). It’s really interesting that this particular beach is very clean with good bathrooms, a really nice play structure and snow one carts. My little ones always want to go there, the older ones want one of the better for surf beaches, Pismo and Oceano, Cambia….

a little off topic but relevant, I have converted a generator to run on alcohol. Does alcohol have a shelf life like gasoline? Besides having a affinity for water, it seems pretty stable.

Alcohol is an in-exhaustible energy supply. It is easy to make. Just don’t drink it all in the process.
I’m not going to try keeping the freezers running. Canning, dehydrating, and root cellaring are the ways to go. Jars and Tattler lids are reusable. You can always use a wood fire for canning.

I applaud you for your conversion. I have tried several times at this site to get to subject of alternative power. Not much luck. I am more interested in bio diesel and plants to process it from but a friend of mine likes alcohol. He is a good mechanic and he pointed out to me that things like chain saws and lawnmowers or for that matter any small gasoline engines will run on alcohol with jetting changes. I agree with you and occasionally point that out to people. I also point out that gold and silver have no value to someone that needs food, water, shelter, security, arms, and energy. What will fail is the large urban areas with no locally produced food and naturally occurring water resources. (can you spell Los Angeles, New York city, Chicago, et al?). It’s recently even been used in some hospital testing for the treatment of antibiotic resistant infections such as that MRSA stuff (same as flesh eating bacteria?). Had a friend that got that infection on a foot and it was almost to the point of hospitalization for it when he tried it and it was cured (he was, in fairness, taking antibiotics as well so it could have been synergistic or just coincidence).
Honey has been used since at least the Egyptians for wound healing, next time you get one of those annoying wounds you don’t want to go to a doctor for (since they report them) try using honey on it and see if it doesn’t make it heal much, much faster without getting infected.
Can vouch for raw honey drawing put infections. I use it all the time on my little folks. It’s amazing how well it works especially on injuries that have gotten really infected.
For spider bites use an activated charcoal poultice. Nothing works better on black widow, hobo, and recluse bites.

They are wedded to technology to the exclusion of experience and reason, they lack emotional maturity, the ability to manage an unexpected environment, passivity, a herd mentality… the list goes on. We will be better off without them. The Goobermint and the school system gave them to us, I’ll be glad to see them go.
