Editor’s Comment: It is what the middle class and poor have been feeling for nearly a decade now, it is the reality that is being held up only by corrupt monetary policies and political interests. It is the great storm which can be triggered on command, and only held off so long.

Growing comfortable to the new norm in the wake of the 2008 economic crisis will soon prove to be a dangerous position. Once the interest rates are raised, or the free money flow tightened, the hammer will drop; meanwhile, the red lines of debt are coming due with extreme consequences in both personal and state lives.

Carl Icahn Turns Apocalyptic: “I Am More Hedged Than Ever, A Day Of Reckoning Is Coming”

    by Tyler Durden

We profiled Carl Icahn’s notorious bearishness most recently two weeks ago when we showed that for the second quarter in a row, the billionaire’s hedge fund, Icahn Enterprises had kept on its record short bias, manifesting in a net -149% market exposure.

Unlike other hedge fund managers, however, Icahn does not provide monthly letters explaining his mindset which is why we eagerly watched a expansive, 40 minute interview he gave to Bloomberg’s Erik Shatzker, in which in addition to a detailed discussion of Trump and how the Republican presidential candidate would change the US economy, he shared some much needed insights into his gloomy vision of the market.

Below are some of the key excerpts from his discussion of the market:

Shatzker:  Why is it that the stock market is where it is?  That with valuations so high that I noticed in the letter that — or at least in a statement that you made with your son, Bret, earlier this month, that you don’t feel confident making any large investments?

ICAHN:  Aabsolutely, Erik.  I have hedges on, I’m more hedged than I ever was. I will tell you there’s certainly good companies. [The market] is way overvalued at 20 times the S&P and I’ll tell you why: a lot of it is a result of zero interest rates.  It’s just what I said. You have zero interest and a lot of buybacks. Money is not going into capital.

So think of it as a rich family that just decides “we’re just going to have a lot of fun, we’re going to sit around in the pool, and we’ll keep printing up IOUs to the town, we’ve got a good name.” You keep  doing it until you go broke.  And this is what’s happening in our economy.  Zero interest rates are building huge bubbles.  You have retirees that saved a million bucks, half a million bucks.

I think the market is at literally very high levels because of zero interest rates, and if you really look at it, the dollar is pretty strong right now, which is going to hurt international earnings.  The S&P, they live on international earnings.  That’s going to be hurtThere’s going to be a day of reckoning here.  I’ve seen it many times in my life.  When things look good, they look great.  You go into the sky.  But that’s when you have to really pull down and really stop buying.  That being said, I’m not going to tell you it’s going to happen tomorrow, next week, even next month, even next year possibly.  But it’s going to happen, and you have to change the direction of our economy.  I can’t say it plainer than that.

    * * *

[T]housands of CEOs understand the problem.  They say one day, a regulatory agency, EPA, waves its wand and we’re bankrupt, or almost bankrupt.  We’re losing a fortune.  Why the hell should I invest in more capital?  Why should I invest in more machinery?  Therefore, we can’t compete, and therefore the middle class does not have manufacturing jobs and we now say, well, we’re not a manufacturer, we’re a service company

    What could cause a crash:

Shatzker:  You say, Carl, that a day of reckoning will come for the stock market.  You can’t say whether it’s going to be this week, this month, even this year or next year.  Let’s talk about the factors that you believe would precipitate such a correction.  What could cause stocks to fall?

ICAHN:  Erik, I think I’ve been talking about it to you this whole interview.  One of the things that’s causing it to fall is happening right under your nose, that we have no capital spending.  Capital spending is going way down.  In a society like us, manufacturing is important.  I don’t care, sooner or later, you can’t just keep tweeting to each other.  You can’t text each other.

We say we’re a service economy, that’s great, we’re a service economy.  What does that mean?  That we text more to each other.  Sooner or later, everybody is going to send a text to each other and say isn’t that wonderful, so why should anybody work?  Just sit there and text to each other or watch TV.  So I am saying to you, this is what is happening as we speak.  Capital spending is down, obviously. The last two years, I mean, it’s just down four percent in the last quarter which is unheard of when you don’t have a recession.  OK.  Productivity has not grown.  In fact, it’s the lowest growing it’s ever been as far as growth goes.  These are very important things in a capitalistic system.  Unless you have a dictatorship, you’re going to go the way of Cuba.  Well, Cuba was a dictatorship but it still went that way.  But then you’re going to go the way of Venezuela, Argentina.  You’re going to be in a major problem.

He then turns to the economy and social turbulence, where he repeats “shocking” allegations made by Trump, namely that “unemployment numbers are not accurate”:

You see GDP is not going up, I could give you a lot of reasons.  But the most important is that the middle class worker is really, does not have good jobs.  This unemployment numbers are not accurate in one way, that a lot of these guys have left the work force, and two, these jobs aren’t paying that well.

So I am saying that the middle class – that is why you saw this uprising for Bernie Sanders and you see it for Trump and you see Brexit and you see what’s going on in Italy.  I think there’s an undercurrent of great unrest in our global economies.  This “one percent”, people resent it, and they resent government for allowing it to happen.

Last, and certainly not least, is perhaps the key issue at the bottom of everything: the US Dollar as a reserve currency, which has permitted all of the above to happen:

Now, the thing that goes for the country as you pointed out is, we’re a reserve currency.  But I don’t know how long you can depend on that.  So I am just saying that sooner or later, there’s going to be a massive problem, I think.

The full 40 minutes interview is below.

      1. Most people can’t diversify. They contribute to the hedge funds through their mandatory retirement paycheck deductions. They can’t get their money out unless they quit or retire.

If you are on the line about retiring, now would be a good time to do it.

        • I watched an interview on Icahn about a year ago. The man is brilliant. He isnt chicken little and the way he explains his opinions is easy to understand and seems to make a lot of sense, at least it does to me. I have more confidence in this man than any other. Sorry Durango Kidd. For us, the average joe, it’s gonna be extremely painful, but when the bottom drops out from under the almighty dollar, then even guys like Icahn become an average joe.
Everyday is an opportunity. Stay quiet Be smart

          • Carl Icahn, seems to be powerful, because he has a lot of money that he uses to push around people and influence companies to do what he wants them to do. He buys large positions in a company then threatens the board to adopt policies like stock buy backs, so he can make a killing for himself, not for the companies longivity. Other than being a self indulging predator, he is not for the employees or the company long term. Unlike Investor Warren Buffet, who take large positions mostly in Blue chip companies and sits on them for a long time. Icahn is a Tribe member, and so that’s explains lots of his motives. I don’t respect him much at all. Hard to live a full life when Greed is your only motive. I watched his position in Netflix, and he was a bastard to that company.

~WWTI… Prepping is like a hedge on an uncertain future. Covering your bases for what if’s. But We here mostly prep, not for greed, but for a sustaining lifestyle to get through the downturns.

            • Spot on. He did the same thing to TWA. Uncle Carl came in and destroyed the airline. Many good people lost their livelihoods. He parted out the company to line his pockets. Yes, he’s smart. But he is also only in it for himself. He will have to recon to GOD someday, as we all will. He is also right about what is coming. Keep prepping.

              • Well then, I stand corrected. My apologies.

          • Ya JACK , i listen to him as well , but what DK says aint much different , just the reserve currency thing .
We will see world war 3 thru 14 over reserve currency status.
So lets hope it dont change .
LOL , I got nothin , and nothin but hayfields to lose , i dont have a stake in the markets , but i damn well understand that everyone will pay for this !

            • Let me add :The dollar wont ever go away and have NO value.
It may just be diminished into a basket of currencys , but as long as the republic stands , so will the dollar.
Just the humble opinion of a dumb farmer from flyover country.

              • If the dollar crashes or diminishes, even those who own land will still have to pay their property ‘taxes’ or be forced off their own homestead, which is one major goal of the nwo and agenda 21. Better pray that crooked globalist hitlery doesn’t get in power to seal their deal.

                • I pay my property taxes in US dollars. Regardless of the true value of that dollar. Until they change the law they can only raise my property taxes at the rate of 3% per year regardless of assessment increases. Hyperinflation will not affect that, and I don’t think a depression will affect me much either, since making my house worthless, doesn’t bother me, I own it and if it is worthless nobody will want to take it away from me, nor do they have a basis for taxing it.
                  Bring on the Depression!

                  • Yeah relik, Florida also has a maximum cap of 3% per year for property taxes increases. Sweet deal. I pay about $100 per acre per year at my BOL. Almost free. shhhhhhhh, don’t tell anybody.

                    ~WWTI…

                  • This is Huuuuugggee!!! America to hand off Internet in under two months. This deal is as bad as handing off the Panama Canal, or the US Money system to the Federal Reserve. Read this BS!!!

The Department of Commerce is set to hand off the final vestiges of American control over the Internet to international authorities in less than two months, officials have confirmed.

The department will finalize the transition effective Oct. 1, Assistant Secretary Lawrence Strickling wrote on Tuesday, barring what he called “any significant impediment.”

The move means the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, which is responsible for interpreting numerical addresses on the Web to a readable language, will move from U.S. control to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, a multistakeholder body based in Los Angeles that includes countries such as China and Russia.

Critics of the move, most prominently Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, have pointed out the agency could be used by totalitarian governments to shut down the Web around the globe, either in whole or in part.

“The proposal will significantly increase the power of foreign governments over the Internet, expand ICANN’s historical core mission by creating a gateway to content regulation, and embolden [its] leadership to act without any real accountability,” Cruz wrote in a letter sent to Commerce and signed by two fellow Republicans, Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma and Sen. Mike Lee of Utah.

In the event any facilities are relocated to China, senators noted, they could go in the same building as the agency responsible for censoring that country’s Internet. “We have uncovered that ICANN’s Beijing office is actually located within the same building as the Cyberspace Administration of China, which is the central agency within the Chinese government’s censorship regime,” they wrote, noting that some of the American companies involved with the transition process have already “shown a willingness to acquiesce” to Chinese demands to aid with censorship.

“While this is certainly not illegal, it does raise significant concerns as to the increased influence that governments … as well as the culture of cronyism,” they added.

***Get ready to be censored or cut off and a slave to their rules.

              • Hammerhead, I’m a dumb truckdriver. The nice thing about dumb people like us is that no matter how bad the economy gets, we will always have work. Sometimes being “dumb” ain’t such a bad thing. Stay quiet Be smart

        • What “mandatory” retirement deductions? No one is forced to contribute to a 401K.

          • I worked at a place that had a mandatory 403-B participation
(educational, non-profit). It was part of your employment package. If you refused it, you would be encouraged to leave, or switched to 1099 contractor status, with no benefits.

            • So pick another place to work. Easy. Non-profits are nothing but tax scams. Ask Hilliary. She and Bill are pro-grifters.

          • NO, they just match it with free money (that you will never see at retirement) which of course they deduct from the $$$ they would actually pay you. Just like SS. Do you think if they did not have to deduct 15% of that first 90K, that you would not get it? some company would start giving it to you to be competitive, then they would all have to join in. Taxation is theft, pure and simple.

      3. That’s good. Not until it bottoms out will they be Forced to do something to correct what took decades to create. I’ve been waiting down below since 2008. How’s the weather up there ?

        • Michael,
Having traded for 20 yrs plus it is obvious these major markets are rigged. The old cycles are not working the way that used to work (we would have had a bear market in these last 8 years). Slowing earnings would have pummeled stocks years ago (Earnings doesn’t cause the reactions it once did in stock price). For example in the old days Apple’s stock price would not be $109 it would be $10.90 as investors and traders bailed out as earnings increase flattened out.

The question is who is doing this to the markets and why is it being done to the markets? The obvious answer we have all talked about is central bank money printing flooding markets. There seems to be no end to talk on this point in trading blogs since 2005. Ten years ago when I heard from my banking friends the Wall Street corruption and Central Bank market controls I was astounded it could happen in the U.S. but I bought in. Back then I posted rigged markets on trading blogs and 95% of the traders slammed me saying that narrative was false. Today if I post a rigged market article 95% of the traders say that is old news and they all know markets are rigged.

We are also seeing more government direct buying of stocks to support rigged markets (e.g. Japan Fed buying ETF’s) and rumors Obama told Yellen to buy stocks before the election to support Hillary. Plus there is ample evidence PM’s have been tampered with. However, there is currently no evidence to support Central Banking(CB) stock buying in U.S. markets while there is plenty of evidence of CB support for stock prices.

People I know ask me why is money flowing into these markets if it is rigged. I tell them the answer is complex but solid. Central banks have destroyed the fixed income market with ZIRP and NIRP making stocks and stocks with dividends the only game in town to get more than 0.25% on your money. ZIRP and NIRP have encouraged corps to sell bonds to buy back stocks and drive up there prices.

The next indicator is index valuation by old earning criteria. If the market ever goes back to the real earnings evaluation we could see up to 60% – 70% let out indexes to get back to “normal” stock prices.

Going forward what is scaring the rigged market is a trump victory (I am a trump guy) or a Hillary victory. If Trump is elected he will probably appoint an anti-bank fed guy to clean the fed up. If this happens many think the world markets will crash since the U.S. CB may no longer be a proxy for rigged markets since a Trump Fed person will expose the excesses. Secondly if Trump attempts to clean up government corruption cronyism may stop and stocks may drop.

Hillary has her own demons (from being a witch). Traders are scared she will destabilize America with the liberalization of laws and the end of the constitution. At Hillary’s anointing the internet will be shut down (and this site). The first Hillary dissidents will be harshly dealt with as free speech is shut down in a European purge. A swift court 2nd Amendment shut down will cause civil strife. America will be flooded with middle east immigrants with rapes, killings and robbery an everyday occurrence at public events (NFL games), malls, airports, schools, hospitals, concerts and any local public event. The 2nd Amendment people who try to stop these wacko Muslims will get long jail sentences. All of these things will destabilize our markets.

Throughout history, it is the minorities or the lone voices that need from the majority to allow everyone to question, comment on and criticize opinions with which they disagree. Freedom to be wrong, heretical or “blasphemous” — as we have seen with Giordano Bruno, Galileo, Darwin or Alan Turing — is the only way that civilisation can grow.

        • Hillary’s Stools Fuel More Concerns Over Hillary’s Health: Too Sick To Lead?

By Samantha Chang, August 17th, 2016

Hillary Clinton‘s chronic need to sit down on stools during short rallies has raised more concerns over her health even as mainstream news media vigorously defend her.

Photos of Hillary constantly sitting on stools have popped up all over social media after blogger Mike Cernovich first spotlighted the trend and launched the Twitter hashtag #HillarysStools on Aug. 16.

Within hours, #HillarysStools was the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter.

“A reader pointed out Hillary leaning on a stool, as sick Hillary looked tired and fatigued,” noted Cernovich, the author of Gorilla Mindset.

“Now I can’t stop noticing that every picture of Hillary has a hidden stool nearby.”

Clinton’s camp has obviously noticed the #HillarysStools scuttlebutt, as she campaigned without her stool on Aug. 17.

It’s unclear why Hillary Clinton sits down so often, since she suffers from deep vein thrombosis (DVT), according to her own doctor, Lisa Bardack.

Too much sitting exacerbates deep vein thrombosis, a serious condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in a vein.

Hillary had three blood clots in recent years: A blood clot in her brain in 2012, and two in her leg, in 2000 and 1998.

Clinton also suffered a concussion in 2012, uncontrollable coughing fits, falls, blurred vision, hypothyroidism (which weakens energy and stamina), and must take prescription blood thinners for the rest of her life, as TheImproper has reported.

In a 2015 letter, Clinton’s doctor revealed Hillary suffers from hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid gland), symptoms of which include chronic fatigue, memory problems and depression.

Trump, 70, noted that Clinton, 69, often “gives a short speech. Then she goes home, goes to sleep, and shows up two days later.”

In the first 17 days of August, Hillary has taken off 7 days, while Trump has only taken off 2.

Even those who hate Trump must concede he does not lack energy or stamina, as he frequently does two events in a single day.

Hillary often doesn’t do rallies on consecutive days, let alone two in one day. Moreover, Clinton has not held a press conference since Dec. 4, 2015. That is unprecedented for someone running to be the most powerful person on Earth.

Trump supporters pointed out the 70-year-old billionaire walked over a rocky highway partition to get to a rally while Hillary, 69, needed help climbing a set of stairs. (YouTube)

Biographer Ed Klein, former editor-in-chief of the New York Times magazine, said Hillary suffers from exhaustion, insomnia, depression, hand tremors and blinding headaches.

“She no longer has the stamina for 18-hour campaign days,” a source told Klein in his 2015 book, Unlikeable: The Problem with Hillary.

Repeated bouts of insomnia have “sapped her energy,” a friend told Klein. “She is exhausted and depressed a lot of the time.”

USGS slams study’s claim of 99.9% chance of large L.A. earthquake

        h ttp://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-usgs-99-9-percent-chance-20151022-story.html

        85% 0r 99%
both pretty bad odds when it comes to an earthquake in a major urban area

        • And there’s a 99.9% chance I’m gonna be running to the bathroom after my second mug of coffee.

        • Listen to the usgs if you believe the rest of the lies of gvmnt propaganda. For as long as we’ve been following Dutchsinse, he as always been spot on with his earthquake forecasts. He even warned of the Japan earthquake in March of 2011.

The usgs has a history of not reporting earthquakes and even manipulating data. The Canadian and European feeds don’t have a problem reporting the truth. Could it be because the usgs receives millions in grant monies
to study how to provide a few seconds warning as opposed to a few days???

WAR?? TURKEY Threatens US: “Give Turkey Your Nuclear Weapons at Incirlik Air Base or We Will Take Them!”

        • Not to worry. Obama has it all under control.

          What is 50 nuke’s anyway.

        • I really don’t think the military doesn’t have an exit strategy for the tactical nukes on Turkish soil. I really don’t believe the military will follow orders that are illegal and against their oaths to the USA. Officers do not promise to obey the president, like the enlisted guys do. The enlisted guys oath includes obey officers, and president equally subject to the UCMJ.
Obama better not press it, because nobody likes or trusts him.

        • Satori:
Have you been keeping up with the Ukraine? Whole lot of shooting going on there. I heard somewhere that there is almost as much as there was last year. I hear it is getting hot very hot over there.

You never handed or called out anything.
You just take what I post and warp it to your fucked up mind.
Oh yea, you were making 180k in the 90’s.
Now live in a ‘cabin’ in a swamp.
Married and divorced twice. Glad they cleaned your clock.
Maybe you were such a shithead to them, like you are here, does everyone see the common denominator here?
BS zone? This shit is all talk and thinks he is the cock of the coop.

        Please die…

OK, This Guy who calls himself a prepper in 1997 before prepping was even a word in 2005, and when called out for that lie, he then changed his mind, and said survivalist as he then morphed his lie into. He is really not much of a prepper at all that I can see. So how about we ask eppe a few prepping questions and see how he responds. These are basic prepping goals.

        Eppe, Be truthful.
        1. How many AR-15’s do you own? and ammo for them? or AK’s? Do you have any battle rifle. .22 is not a battle rifle.
        2. How many 5 gal buckets of mylar baged rice and beans do you have on hand?
        3. How many gallons of extra Gas do you have on hand besides the gas in your vehicles?
        4. Do you live in the city in McMansion-ville, or in the country on a self-sustained BOL.
        5. Tell us how you live off the Grid and your house off the grid? Solar, Well, Septic? Cable? Internet?
        6. Are you more than a gas tank away from Atlanta?
        7. Is your property fenced in with security like a barbed wire fence and locking gate?
        8. Are you still a slave to an employer or self-sustained self made man, or self employed working man?
        9. How many cases of MRE’s do you have on hand?
        10. How much stored water do you have on hand?
        11. How many water filtration devices do you have on hand and per person?
        12. Do you have a bug out bag in your vehicle?
        13. Do you have a concealed carry permit and carry daily?

Lets see if you pass the basic test of being a prepper by truthfully answering these questions above, or just a Bullshitter armchair prepper, as you present yourself here, drinking and typing and lying about how you invented prepping before everybody else, and then never says how he preps or suggest prepping advice.

Yes I did make $180K back in the late 90’s and have tax returns to prove it. Yes I choose to sell my house in the city last year, and flood zone for higher ground out in the country away from mass population centers and am building a secure BOL location Compound fully all off the Grid, solar, well and septic on raw wooded land, surrounded by water filled with gators. I am living proof of what a prepper is, I walk the walk. I am doing what everybody should to and attain to do, as the smart move off the grid and not exposed to the beast.

So if you want to criticize me for living in a cottage, in the boonies, kiss my ass. You are not a prepper but a big BS’r. I have plenty of AR’15s and ammo to put up one hell of a battle if needed to defend my property from invaders. Security fencing, cameras motion detectors, and neighbors barking dogs. I choose not to have dogs at this time, because it would scare the wildlife off/ my backup protein food supply. I have a flock of 14 turkeys come within a yard of me trusting me as I do them, twice a day. Amazing life what a real prepper is. So go ahead, if you want me to die, come and try asshole. You have not the balls or the courage. You are a fake and a liar. SO tell us armchair prepper -answer these basic questions above truthfully.

$6.5 trillion missing from Defense Department
‘Fact the Pentagon can’t account for how it spent money reveals a potentially far greater problem than theft’

Currently at $19.4 trillion, the debt is projected to hit $20 trillion by Inauguration Day, up from $10.6 trillion when Obama entered the White House on Jan. 20, 2009.

Put in perspective, it means Obama will have added to the debt as much as all previous 43 presidents have done cumulatively.

Sputnik News pointed out a 1996 law requires all federal agencies to audit regularly.

“The Pentagon has so far failed to conduct a single one,” the report said. “In common language, the Pentagon has no idea how it spent nearly $7 trillion.”
