If you enjoy watching financial doom, then you are quite likely to really enjoy the rest of 2012.  Right now, red flags are popping up all over the place.  Corporate insiders are selling off stock like there is no tomorrow, major economies all over Europe continue to implode, the IMF is warning that the eurozone could actually break up and there are signs of trouble at major banks all over the planet.  Unfortunately, it looks like the period of relative stability that global financial markets have been enjoying is about to come to an end.  A whole host of problems that have been festering just below the surface are starting to manifest, and we are beginning to see the ingredients for a “perfect storm” start to come together.  The greatest global debt bubble in human history is showing signs that it is getting ready to burst, and when that happens the consequences are going to be absolutely horrific.  Hopefully we still have at least a little bit more time before the global financial system implodes, but at this point it doesn’t look like anything is going to be able to stop the chaos that is on the horizon.

The following are 22 red flags that indicate that very serious doom is coming for global financial markets….

#1 According to CNN, the level of selling by insiders at corporations listed on the S&P 500 is the highest that it has been in almost a decade.  Do those insiders know something that the rest of us do not?

#2 Home prices in the United States have fallen for six months in a row and are now down 35 percent from the peak of the housing market.  The last time that home prices in the U.S. were this low was back in 2002.

#3 It is now being projected that the Greek economy will shrink by another 5 percent this year.

#4 Despite wave after wave of austerity measures, Greece is still going to have a budget deficit equivalent to about 7 percent of GDP in 2012.

#5 Interest rates on Italian and Spanish sovereign debt are rapidly rising.  The following is from a recent RTE article….

Spain’s borrowing rate nearly doubled in a short-term debt auction as investors fretted over the euro zone’s determination to deal with its debts.

And Italy raised nearly €3.5 billion in a short-term bond sale today but at sharply higher interest rates amid fresh concerns over the euro zone outlook, the Bank of Italy said.

#6 The government of Spain recently announced that its 2011 budget deficit wasmuch larger than originally projected and that it probably will not meet its budget targets for 2012 either.

#7 Amazingly, bad loans now make up 8.15 percent of all loans on the books of Spanish banks.  That is the highest level in 18 years.  The total value of all toxic loans in Spain is equivalent to approximately 13 percent of Spanish GDP.

#8 One key Spanish stock index has already fallen by more than 19 percentso far this year.

#9 The Spanish government has announced a ban on all cash transactionslarger than 2,500 euros.  Many are interpreting this as a panic move.

#10 It is looking increasingly likely that a major bailout for Spain will be needed.  The following is from a recent Reuters article….

Economic experts watching Spain don’t know how much money will be needed or precisely when, but some are near certain that Madrid will eventually seek a multi-billion euro bailout for its banks, and perhaps even for the state itself.

#11 Analysts at Moody’s Analytics are warning that Italy has now reached financially unsustainable territory….

“Italy is already out of fiscal space, in our estimate.” said Moody’s. “Its debt levels relative to GDP already exceed a manageable level. The manageable limit for Italian 10-year bond yields is estimated at 4.2pc. As of Wednesday, Italian 10-year yields were 5.46pc.”

#12 It is being projected that the Portuguese economy will shrink by 5.7 percent during 2012.

#13 There is even trouble in European nations that have been considered relatively stable up to this point.  For example, the Dutch government collapsed on Monday after austerity talks broke down.

#14 The head of the IMF, Christine Lagarde, says that there are “dark clouds on the horizon” for the global economy.

#15 The top economist for the IMF, Olivier Blanchard, recently made this statement: “One has the feeling that at any moment, things could get very bad again.”

#16 A recent IMF report admitted that the current financial crisis could lead to the break up of the eurozone….

Under these circumstances, a break-up of the euro area could not be ruled out. The financial and real spillovers to other regions, especially emerging Europe, would likely be very large.

This could cause major political shocks that could aggravate economic stress to levels well above those after the Lehman collapse.

#17 George Soros is publicly declaring that the European Union could soon experience a collapse similar to what happened to the Soviet Union.

#18 A member of the European Parliament, Nigel Farage, stated during one recent interview that it is inevitable that some major banks in Europe will collapse….

There are going to be some serious banking collapses and the impact of that on some sovereign states, will be serious. I’m afraid we’ve gotten to a point where we really can’t stop this now. We’re beginning to reach a stage where however much false money you create, the problem becomes bigger than the people trying to solve it. We are very close to that point.

When I talk about the threats and the risk that this thing could wind up in some kind of rebellion, some sort of awful social cataclysm, they (other European politicians) are now very worried indeed. They will talk to you in private, but in public, nobody dares utter a word.

I think the deterioration, in the last two or three weeks, in the eurozone is very serious indeed. It’s the bond spreads in Italy and Spain. It’s the fact that youth unemployment is now over 50% in some of these Mediterranean countries.

It’s riot and disorder on the streets. And yet a month ago I was here and there was Herman Van Rumpuy telling us, ‘We’ve turned the corner. Everything is solved. There are no more problems with the eurozone.’ What a pack of jokers they look like.”

#19 The IMF is projecting that Japan will have a debt to GDP ratio of 256 percent by next year.

#20 Goldman Sachs is projecting that the S&P 500 will fall by about 11 percent by the end of 2012.

#21 Over the past six months, hundreds of prominent bankers have resigned all over the globe.  Is there a reason why so many are suddenly leaving their posts?

#22 The 9 largest U.S. banks have a total of 228.72 trillion dollars of exposure to derivatives.  That is approximately 3 times the size of the entire global economy.  It is a financial bubble so immense in size that it is nearly impossible to fully comprehend how large it is.

The financial crisis of 2008 was just a warm up act for what is coming.  The too big to fail banks are larger than ever, the governments of the western world are in far more debt than they were back then, and the entire global financial system is more unstable and more vulnerable than ever before.

But this time the epicenter of the financial crisis will be in Europe.

Outside of Europe, most people simply do not understand how truly nightmarish the European economic crisis really is.

Spain, Italy and Portugal are all heading for an economic depression and Greece is already in one.

The European Central Bank was able to kick the can down the road a little bit by expanding its balance sheet by about a trillion dollars over the last nine months, but the truth is that the underlying problems in Europe just continue to get worse and worse.

It truly is like watching a horrible car wreck happen in slow motion.

The good news is that there is still a little time to get yourself into a better position for the next financial crisis.  Don’t leave yourself financially exposed to the next crash.

Sadly, just like back in 2008, most people will never even see this next crisis coming.

So do you have any other red flags to add to the list above?  Please feel free to post a comment with your thoughts below….

      1. We have just gone into a double dip recession in the UK. I had no doubt whatsoever this would happen, we are witnessing the end of the debt based fractional reserve banking fiat monetary system.

I have a link to an animated cartoon I made below explaining the problem.

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4j-ZXRIpDIk&feature=plcp

        • I urge you all to take the time to read this doc from the Rockerfeller foundation while it is still available. Read between the lines of the fluffy “philanprophy BS” and cut straight to the global scenario’s it describes.

It’s a rare opportunity to see exactly what is planned for us “direct from the horses mouth”.

          • Meanwhile, on a slightly off-topic post, I’d like to bring back a choice quote from a guy I’m rapidly coming to call the ‘prepper priest’. Basically, he mentions that bugs are a-ok for eating during Lent on Fridays (when meat is otherwised proscribed).:

“So, now that people know we can eat bugs as we please, I expect to hear that you are asking for bug-out bags, not doggy-bags.

And, yes, we should be preparing bug-out bags and bugs might just keep some of us alive a TEOTWAWKI.”

            ref: http://wdtprs.com/blog/2012/04/quaeritur-can-i-eat-insect-parts-on-fridays/

            • green and yellow, avoid that fellow
Black or brown, suck it down.

Thats what I’ve read about eating bugs. I’ll let you try first though.

        • Standard and Poor have just downgraded Spain again and warned about Eurozone dangers.

          BBC news 2300 UK time

          Take care

          • #19: The debt to GDP of Greece WAS over 400% before “restructuring”. The debt to GDP of the UK is over 200%; that ratio for the US is only 100%.

Panama on the other hand, who also uses the dollar, is only 67% debt to GDP, if I remember right.

#21: Someone will be held responsible for the criminal activities that have occurred. Heads will roll.

Those who have fled their posts are hoping that they can find a quiet little corner of the world where no one will remember them or look for them when the guilletine is dusted off.

Europe has a history of that, ya know?

#22: That is a bad comparison. Global GDP represents a single years output for world production.

The Derivatives number represents a many multi year number; which also represents a very small amount of the aggregate underlying loans over the term of these loans. These underlying loans are supported by real assets.

The top five American banks own 96% of the derivatives market in America. Derivatives, basically, represents loan insurance to provide a higher level of credit worthiness to each individual loan.

This credit enhancement tool has been used for decades in lieu of more equity and a lower loan to value ratio on many worthwhile projects.

Don’t be distracted. The real issue is war, and that war is coming sooner than later. Everything changes after the war.

Invest in gold, speculate with silver, and hoard your lead.

        • #1: Everyone has been anticipating a drop in the Dow for some time. No news here. What goes up must come down. Insiders are usually more astute, which is why the active smart money checks the reports of their activities.

#2: No surprise here either. Median home prices must reach a level of affordability that matches a $10 per hour wage. They will fall farther. Another “benefit” of FREE TRADE.

#3: If the Greek economy only falls another 5% this year, the Greeks should consider themselves lucky. Their economy will not recover until they exit the EU and restore the Dracma as the national currency.

I fully expect three nations to eventually exit the EU. That’s an easy call. It’s biblical. Look it up.

      2. While the Eurozone in many ways resembles the U.S.,they do not have the advantage of the petrodollar. My red flag is when oil no longer is sold in dollars. The worthless FRNs will then come home to roost.Right now whoever controls the “black gold” is the best looking horse in the glue factory.

          • china is going to start buying iranian oil with gold on june 28th? your right time is getting short

            • In that case, China will have to sell something for gold. They really don’t have that much, do they?

            • roho
i believe that i’ve read that china has taken possesion of many metric tons of gold, and i would have to think that they have other trade agreements with iran and that the gold would offset the differance

          • Mostly China will be bartering products – electronics, washing machines, all the stuff USA used to make – for Iranian oil. Either way, it’s goodbye dollar…this, not “nukes” is primary reason Isramerica will be attacking Iran; same reason Sadaam Hussein and Khadaffi got taken down. Of course, if Iran can close the Hormuz Straits and keep them closed for more than a few days, it’ll spike oil to >$200/barrel, and goodbye dollar anyway. I’d guesstimate we have no more than 100-150 days preptime before the IranWar begins, and all else follows…

        • With economic instability around the world and an incease in extreme weather – tornados, droughts, earthquakes, floods … the food distribution channels are uncertain.

I am thankful to have stocked up. I hope it is enough. Wish there was more time and MONEY…there are some more things (more solar panels, etc.) I would like to get.

What I still don’t understand is why it is only such a small percent (1%, maybe 2%) of the population that is preparing.

Surely, people even if they don’t have a grasp on what is going on around the world…must see the rising unemployment in their communities (have relatives or neighbors who have lost jobs and/or can’t find jobs), businesses and stores cutting staff and/or closing, rising prices in the grocery store, etc.

          • “What I still don’t understand is why it is only such a small percent (1%, maybe 2%) of the population that is preparing.”

            I doubt it’s even 1%, really.

Thing is, in the case of a full collapse, only 10% would survive… a good share of the serious preppers will (note: not all, but a majority, I think), and the rest will be the lucky and the strong among the non-prepping crowd.

            • OQ, simple but yet deep thoughts. Thank you.

            • Odd Q I think its more than 1 or 2%. Look at the Mormon’s they almost all prep to some degree and they are a bigger group then many think. I went to a Mormon canning center in Stockton CA last week and got some serious food stocks for less than a $100. I’m not Mormon, have nothing against them, and they were super nice people.

            • I kinda doubt that, especially if you’re counting Mormons.

Let be bring a bit of insight into the whole Mormon/prepping thing…

I’ve actually lived in Utah for over a decade. The house I once owned in SLC was less than 10 years old, and it included (by default) a pantry room in the basement(made of concrete, with a steel door)… just like nearly every other house in that subdivision. I actually had to ask the realtor what it was, thinking it to be an undersized bomb shelter.

However, if you start snooping/asking around a bit (or just keep your ears open at work and/or local school and civic events), you find that few actually stock those rooms (mine was a great place for reloading tools – I hadn’t woken up just yet).

Most of the Mormon folk do what’s required to look good at church, and very little beyond that. What I mean is, they’ll donate their 10% tithing, they’ll show up at church every Sunday, the wives will go to Relief Society, and the kids will play church basketball at the local Ward. But beyond that, things start falling down, hard.

It becomes more about buying that big house, making sure you have the requisite RV, flock of ATVs, Season Pass to Park City (or Snowbird if you were poor, so you could play it off as preferring something closer-by), and –oh– a really big-assed boat. Your wife needs a big-assed (and expensive!) cross-over Ess-Ewe-Vee or she’ll die of shame among her friends. Your kids must have the latest fashions, and their camps and activities all come with hefty fees.

Oh, and the peer pressure is really fun, too: “What, you’re not saving to get Junior into BYU (or UofU)? I thought you said you were successful! Well, guess we’d better go with Jim as our newest Bishop this year… he’s got pre-paid scholarships set up for all of his kids.”

Now once you leave the Ogden-Provo corridor, you’ll certainly find folks with a more modest lifestyle, and stores that would make a hardcore prepper blush with envy and awe. You’ll also find some pretty awesome people out there. But the problem is that few within the ‘Happy Valley’ corridor actually bother with the important bits – and that’s well over half the state’s population!

I won’t even count those among us who talk a good game, but ain’t got much beyond a bucket of Costco vittles in a closet and a .22 hanging on the wall, and haven’t walked any further than their mailbox or car in the past three months…

Overall, it’s going to be harsh, and if you’re not serious about it, you’ll learn very quickly just how harsh things will get.

          • I’d love to spend more FRN’s but I think that there is more people that the 1% or 2%. I was shopping for ammo and supplies and everything is either back ordered or out of stock. I don’t get it. Might need to invest in reloading equipment and make my own rounds. Keep on prepping and stay safe. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

            • ThreeZeroEight,

I hope you are right. There are still so many people who don’t have a “clue” of the “storms” on the horizon. There are still many in my family who aren’t prepared and they have received many informative articles (like this one) in emails from me.

Yet, I agree more and more are waking up. 🙂 The sales of guns and bullets have increased here too. Also, the number of people planting gardens has increased.

              Take care.
              KY Mom

            • You are “prepping and DON”T have the means to make your own rounds??? You need to understand Prepping a little better :-).

Get one of these and maybe even the means to manufacture your own weapons. They cannot take away what they don’t know exists….

          • Because a huge portion of the population is under the assumption that when it happens, they will just take what they want…just like they are doing now, only they call it government

          • KY Mom

I think it’s cos every time you go to the store there are fewer baked beans in the tin, less detergent in the box and the price is a little higher. Taxes have increased, utilities cost more & the boss is demanding more hours with no overtime.

A lot more people than the MSM say are hanging on by a thread TODAY and are already in trouble. The new jobs being created are part-time minumum wage ones to replace proper living salaries for those who have been laid off.

A lot of people are surviving day to day, or hand to mouth – not cos they want to but because they no longer have a choice. Pride stops a LOT of people admitting that fact out loud.

          • KY Mom, by now we have all heard of the normalcy bias. The psychological block which keeps people from seeing any reality besides the one they are comfortable with. None so blind as those who will not see. thanks for all your posts

            • Watchermax,

              I agree. Sad, but true.

I am glad you like the posts. 🙂

              KY Mom

          • @ KY Mom and Odd Questioner: I agree with you both so much about people prepping. It is almost a mindset with the majority of the population that if you prepare you are surrounding yourself with negativity and if you don’t think about it then it won’t happen. The masses have taken up some idea that preparing so your family doesn’t starve and suffer the first 3 days is selfish, like some “wicked” hoarder. It goes beyond people being lazy and just not preparing like the old fairy tales about the lazy animal that fritters away spring and summer and wise squirrel that packs away food for the winter. People think of preppers as some back woods red neck that has a plan to take on the government and get shot in doing so.

Gone are the days in which people packed away what they need for emergencies, Mr. Credit Card can take care of everyone’s needs forever. It is a self denial also that people just don’t want to admit that their lives of convenience can end in a flash. People see no reason to prepare because their lives are interwoven with Kim Kardashsian (I can’t spell this individual’s name and don’t want to) and all the other meaningless horse crap. Someone once said go to Google and type in Kim and she will come up, not the North Korean dead leader that has nuclear weapons that are aimed at South Korea and 35000 U.S. troops, something important. Go to what is “trending” now and it is worthless mind numbing trash.

In regards to the LDS, they are just people like everyone else. They are taught to prep, but like so many other good intentions they go stray with the masses of the population that just have made prepping into something evil or something. All the while 95-99% of the U.S. population doesn’t even have 3 days of stored up food. I watch these new cartoons and they actually make fun of preppers like they are nut jobs. When I was a kid people that prepared where depicted as wise in animated shows. How times have changed for the absolute worst.

I know people that are very religious and some that are not at all, but they prep because they have the insight to see the necessity to do so. I have already used my electric generators 40 times over the years to supply power with minor league inconvenient episodes. Some of the best money spent. Lots of thunderstorms knock out the power for hours at a time here. The 3 LDS families that live nearby all have dark houses when the power goes out. It doesn’t matter that they were taught to prep, they are just regular people that become infected with the non-prepper bug that has nailed most everyone into their own coffins WHEN SHTF.

Eventually SHTF, history has proven this and how soon people forget those days after 9/11 and the anthrax attacks after that. How soon people forget the other scares in recent history; Deepwater Horizon, Fukushima that is still a threat, earthquakes, the Middle East, the economy and 2008-09, terrorism (next week one year anniversary of bin laden getting nailed), volcanoes and so on. All so far small chump change and peanuts in comparison to what is on the horizon.

I am just glad that there are still people wise enough to prep and prepare, it makes a day much better to see someone stocking up at the store. It is also enjoyable to hear all the new ideas people have to better prepare others on sites like this one. I am personally grateful that there is 1% of the population that has the intelligence enough to prepare. Those that CHOOSE not to prepare are going suffer excruciating misery when something does happen.

        • your red flag is flying at the top of the flagpole, pal- Japan, China and Russia are buying “black gold” right now from Iran with gold and yuan. Not the almighty “petrodollar”. sorry to relay this old news.

        • @FRN- your fed flag is flying high, pal. Japan, China and Russia buy “black gold” from Iran for gold and yuan right now… prep and be well, my friend.

          • OOOPS! I meant — @JRS.

        • That is already starting to happen… Russia, China and Iran already trading oil in their own currencies. Eventually all of the US dollars being held in foreign banks will make their way back here. We are screwed

      3. we owe fifteen and one half trillion and are borrowing four and one half billion everyday just to pay interest on money that we’ve borrowed, that should tell the world that we can’t keep it up much longer.

        • Might as well get the #’s right. There’s another 6-7 trillion of bad debt parked at the govt mortgage agencies. 16 + 7 = $23 trillion debt at federal level alone. And c. 50% of all new debt issuance is now being monetized by the Fed Reserve. This is going to be a Crash that will echo through the Ages.

      4. Its all going to come crashing down…….splat! but on a good note…

They sent my Census form back! AGAIN!!! In response to the question: “Do you have any dependents?” I replied – “12 million illegal immigrants; 3 million crack heads; 42 million unemployable people, 2 million people in over 243 prisons; Half of Mexico; and 535 more in the U.S. House and Senate. Apparently, this was NOT an acceptable answer

I won’t be supporting the buttheads of the world anymore…

        • Very witty, great humour, but so true.

          • But not really funny at all.

        • I love it roflmao

          • UK has gone back into resession. Personally I don’t think we ever came out of it.

            Take care

            • With all the gloom and doom going on, I figured a couple of laughs would help. I try with the occasional funny, but Okie is still the best.

            • come to Greece dear. No recession here.

              It’s an 11 million people assylum. 🙂

        • nice……….I will make sure I do that next time!!!

        • MMNuke: I wanted to do the same thing on my 1040 but the IRS tolm me I couldn’t. They said, yeah, it was true, but I’d have to divide it up between all the other real taxpayers. I told them that that couldn’t be too difficult because there are so few of us left.

          • I entirely planned on being a tax payer. But with two kiddos, 2 mortgages, rentals as tax shelters, and my tax deferred retirement, health, etc. I guess 50K or so means the government gives me a hand out. I had trouble believing it but they gave back everything I paid in and then sweetened it with about $700 they refunded that I never even paid in.

I took it. But I won’t be voting for anyone who thinks this system works. We are about to hit the wall in this country financially and people like me who are doing just fine are getting hand outs. Man, something is broken. They’re trying to hook us all on government cash candy. Either that or they are purposely running this country into the ground.

Just one small comment from a newly minted member of the welfare class.

        • Hahaha. Thats great! But the Feds probably classify you as a terrorist now.

          • So is everyone else who has ever visited SHTFplan according to Janet “the Wookie” Naaaaa-pitano.

            • Stop trashing Wookies!

        • i’m quoting you fyi!

        • you can reduce that total by 1+ his 1.5m vacationing wife in about 6 months

        • Nuke, love the humor. Doesn’t it seem odd, concerning the red flags? #14 thru the end seem like propoganda, though all 22 seem orchestrated. I don’t fault the writer. It just seems, especially if Soros is mentioned, that the info is designed to deflate people and put em in a state of panic. We all feel for the Europeans.
          Bailouts are simply put; theft.
It’s a mad world and we are on one bumpy ride, stay in the prep/survival mode.

        • @MM2 read this and ROFLMA that was toooo funny. I am sure your response is not”acceptable keep sending it back that way, next time I get one I will fill out the same way maybe they will get a clue to how fed up people really are( although i doubt ir)

        • Well said governor, well said

        • Love it!!

      5. Well, the number one red flag that was not mentioned was the breaking of the SWIFT system for international settlements. With it, goes US dollar hegemony as THE currency of international business transactions. What is coming now is a combination of both multilateral banking agreements, like the BRICS bank, and the remonetization of gold. China is already getting ready to call the US and Europe’s bluff when the deadline for cutting financial ties to Iran comes up in a few months, and will be settling it’s Iranian transactions in the yellow metal instead of dollars. China is not a nation the US can bully by military force either. Unlike these smaller nations we seem to want to “liberate”, the Chinese are fully capable of fighting back with nuclear weapons if necessary. Plus, should China decide to cut economic ties to the US in retaliation for being kicked out of SWIFT, the US will suffer greatly.

We have no real means to manufacture most of the good we use every day. We sold all of the equipment to the Chinese years ago so that their cheap, slave labor could make our household goods. Take away trade with China and we are far more screwed than they are. After all, all that the US makes and exports today are toxic financial instruments, inflation and ideas. The ones with the ability to manufacture products ultimately are the ones who wind up winning in the end. After all, we may well know how to design things, but without the manufacturing infrastructure to build it all in country, all we have are plans and diagrams with nothing to turn them into reality.

This is not to say that China is not without it’s own problems. It is starting to experience a housing crash with tens of millions of unoccupied housing units that no one wants. However, as they have the manufacturing technology in-house, they are far better set up to weather the storm than the US and Europe are. Plus, much of their transportation infrastructure (roads, bridges, etc.) is relatively new and in good repair. Compare that to the US where many bridges are over 50 years old and badly in need of replacement, not to mention sewer and water lines, gas mains and an electrical grid that are functioning on parts that are over a hundred years old in many major cities. The US has been able to maintain the illusion of economic prosperity purely through the US dollar’s role in international finance. That has allowed us to export most of our real inflation to other countries who are now saying “enough is enough!”. Reality is about to come home to roost and when it does it won’t be pretty. It may not take the form of instantaneous collapse though. It may well just be a grinding slow downward slide lasting tens of years.

What do I advocate you do to prepare? Get out of debt! You will need to be able to use your income to pay for the basics of life, not to pay off a credit card bill for a TV you bought 7 years ago or a “new” car that isn’t so new anymore. Secondarily, grow a garden. If you have never done it before well then now is the time to start. It will take you 1-3 years to learn how to grow your own food, maybe longer if you go pure organic. (If you want to go organic, I suggest doing a large garden with hybrids and some Miracle Grow garden soil and a small one with heirloom plants and organic fertilizer and pest control. This way, you are ensured some sort of harvest while still being able to learn organic gardening without having to depend on it.) Also, buy tools. This includes a good hunting rifle (as well as other guns needed for less peaceful times) and/or bow, but also includes things like hand drills and augers, a hydraulic press, a MIG welder, and a large assortment of other hand tools. You may also wish to invest in an extremely fuel-efficient car that you can own cash. Probably the best of them that are easily owner-maintained would be the old Ford Festiva, Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift,or a 1991-99 Nissan Sentra 1.6, preferably with a manual transmission. The Subaru Justy is another good choice as it has available 4 wheel drive but beware the CVT transmission on AWD models. Also, parts are scarce for the Subaru but the Suzuki and Nissan models are either still in production or recently ended production in developing nations, so parts should still be available for years to come. These suggestions may not be good for zombies, but they could help you muddle through the tough times ahead.

        • Agreed on all counts.

One thing to consider with regards to China, though, is that their wealth is based largely on exports. If no one is buying their crap they have a real problem. By suppressing domestic wages they have failed to develop internal markets for their products. If the economies of the West fall, China follows.

I can’t quantify it, but it is my understanding we have more oil underground than the Saudis. If we tap it we can reverse out trade deficit. The greenies forcing us to refrain from drilling all these years may have done us the favor of allowing us to utilize these rasources during a time when they are vital to national survival.

Since we have allowed our manufacturing base to be all but destroyed, our short term saving grace may be the exportation of natural resources, not unlike the third world nations we are slowly becoming.

To your list of vehicles I would add the two wheeled kind. Scooters and light motorcycles are very fuel efficient and economical. I have a 125cc scoot, and pay about $5 a month to insure it. 70 mpg transportation to pick up the mail and make quick trips for a few groceries. You can get a lot in a backpack.

          • Be careful about what you believe about US oil reserves. While It is true that we haven’t tapped the Baaken reserves in the Dakotas very much, until we actually do there is no telling what is actually there. I tend to think that it is over-hyped by Republicans in order to have a wedge issue against the Democrats. I hope they are right and all of that oil really is there but I am not putting much stock in it. Plus, I tend to lend some credence to the theory that it is no longer really ours and will instead be used to pay off sovereign debt to other nations that hold a substantial number of our bonds. Ever wonder what backs the US dollar? Natural resources and industrial production are regarded as the main backing of it since we went off the gold standard in 1971. I wouldn’t put it past a future administration to use it in order to avoid a war. Then again, the strongest hand holding US government bonds (USGBs)is China, and they have been a net seller for over a year now. What have they been buying instead? Farm land in Africa, mining companies and other natural resources. They don’t want to be holding the bag when the whole thing implodes either.

With regards to oil, I do believe that we have come close to reaching peak recoverable oil. There is still plenty of it in the ground, but the energy throughput equation is not in favor of it’s recovery. What’s energy throughput? It takes into account the amount of energy required to recover a resource versus the energy obtained at the end of it. It’s why cellulosic ethanol doesn’t make much sense either, but I won’t get into that here. It’s also been revealed that the Saudis may be bluffing about how much oil they actually have. Some recent estimates are much lower, and that is not good. The problem is the quality of the oil base stock that is left in the world. It is not of a particularly good quality and is much more expensive to refine and recover. Thus, the price of oil and oil-based products must naturally go up in order to make it’s recovery economically viable. Do that and you blunt any economic growth as the price of energy is directly related to economic activity.

I’ll address scooters next. While I do think they have their place, they do not offer the kind of practicality that, say a Metro offers. The other issue is that the market is flooded with cheap, Chinese scooters right now that will likely fail before they even hit 10,000 miles. Also, anything larger than a 50cc bike requires a motorcycle endorsement in most states, and that is not cheap to get (in many places you are required to take a training course in order to get the license). As a poor prepper though, my eyes are always on the lookout for a cheap 49cc bike. Where I live, they don’t require insurance and so they do make a good backup plan. However, I look for classic Japanese bikes as they are good quality and can be returned to reliability with some effort. My ultimate is the Honda C70 Passport (AKA Super Cub), the most produced motor vehicle in the history of mankind. While I would have to get the license, I would gladly go through that in order to ride such a legendary vehicle. Then again, I would take ANY classic Honda or Yamaha moped over any of the new Chinese models.

            • Winston…Good post. You may have been born at night…but it wasn’t last night…as they say.

            • I had an Mz250 back in the day. If a teenage girl could do her own mechanics,(bearing in mind my key interest was airbrushing the tank & doing my nails) then I reckon any fool could. Very economic to run,and you could virtually make your own parts.

I wonder if they are still available?

            • Don’t know how true it is, but I wouldn’t put it past them. I remember reading some where back in 2009 that Hillary went to China and signed over our natural resources as collateral for buying our bonds.

Think about this, the economy was beginning to falter the end of 2007, but limped along in 2008 while everyone waited to see who was going to be prez. As soon as Obummer won, the economy took a real nose dive because smart money knew he’d screw it up. I think the only reason there is any sign of life (if any at all) in the economy is that business is waiting to see whats going to happen in November.

I don’t think it matters who gets in there in November. If its Romney it will just slow the SHTF down a little. If Obozo gets in again, you can bet we’ll see 2009 all over again only worse. 10% unemployment will seem like a fantasy.

Lock and load, and buckle up its gonna get ugly.

          • I think the manufacturing base could be restored fairly quickly under the right circumstances. A lot of crying and hand wringing in the meantime.

            • The problem comes form it being a generational shift of sorts. It has been so long since we have made many items in this country that the know-how no longer exists. People who designed and built injection molding machines and other parts of the manufacturing infrastructure have been out of the business for 10-20 years now and many no longer have the skills or youth to revisit their former careers. It would take a massive training push and lots of new equipment to get back on this path again. This is not to say that it is impossible, but it is not like you can just turn on a switch and make it happen. It would probably take 3-5 years before things were running smoothly again.

The problem then is how to deal with the initial shock of losing trade with China. We have a society based not only on just in time manufacturing but on just in time consumer good failure. There is an entire facet of industrial engineering and design that deals specifically with how to make goods last just long enough for people to think they got a good value, but not long enough to keep them from having to replace the item shortly after the time is up. How will average people deal with replacing all of these garbage goods during the interim? This is not the 1950’s when products were overbuilt and would last for 20+ years. Today you are lucky to get 10 years out of a major appliance without failure or as little as 1-3 years for regularly used small appliances.

        • About the manufacturing. We have lots of manufacturing. However it falls into 2 groups. Very large corporations such as GE and very small 2 or 3 person shops. The middle sized companies have pretty much vanished. We can make everything that we need however the price of the goods will be higher. A return to manufacturing will make the large companies very rich so I wouldnt be suprised to see a big push towards Made in USA in the near future.

          • I work in accounting for a manufacturing business.
            We employ over 30 people.
We make band saws and round saws for cutting wood at the saw mills and metal at the fabrication shops.
We sell all over the entire northern continent.
Unfortunately, we buy our steel from Germany and Sweeden as US steel is such crap!

When people ask me what I do for a living, I tell them, “I work for the Devil, our carbon foot print is very large.”
However my boss isn’t the Devil, he just works for him too.
I imagine it is very difficult to work in an industry that doesn’t support some destructive force behind it.

In reality, I am very very grateful to be employed, and the point of my comment was to point out that there are a few manufacturing jobs left in this country.

Please don’t hate me because I am supported by excessive use of resources!

            • Before I slink away I want to add this comment in my defence to my previous words.
Our small business that employs 30, creates a product from raw materials that go out to SEVERAL other companies that employ many other people. From the loggers to the log trucks – timber dollars, a renewable resource – to the saw mills, the filers, the lumber yards, the construction sites, the materials for re-building after disasters. Also the metal saws that cut rebar to concrete for roads and bridges and auto parts etc…
We make a good product and have been in business for almost twenty years. Our closest competitor is three times larger that us, but we are still here and still important.

The biggest one thing that will stop this process is if/when the trucks stop moving.
And I do not believe it will be back to Little House on the Prairie or Mad Max. Not in my lifetime.

I talk to people Every day from the east coast to the west, from Northern Canada to the Gulf and there are a lot of working people that do care about their jobs and the economy.
I’ve learned some about economics in the five years of employment here, and I am grateful to my boss, and appreciate his wisdom.

If I could wish for a thing to happen, I would wish this country to produce a quality product that people needed and would buy.

Working for yourself is wonderful, building up the homestead is great. Having a means to procure dollars while they are available is a blessing.

              Nuff said.

              HalfKin

          • Yes and no. What we make here is larger durable goods but we no longer make much of our minor consumer products. Things like knives, plastic food storage containers, can openers and clothing and the like have all moved to China and other developing nations with the exception of a few high-end brands where labor costs are a smaller part of the total manufacturing costs of a given item. The problem is that the Chinese labor arbitrage is now necessary for most low income Americans to be able to afford these basic necessities. Bring production back to the US and our current economic system cannot provide these people with enough income to be able to afford life’s necessities. People, such as myself, who make less than $25k a year, cannot (for example) afford to buy all of their tools from the Snap On truck and must rely on places like Harbor Freight or the local flea market for affordable solutions. Take away cheap, Chinese labor and all of a sudden I can’t afford a shop press or a new impact wrench. It changes the dynamic drastically. Translate this across the whole panoply of manufactured goods and all of a sudden the quality of life for a wide range of Americans takes a dramatic shift downwards.

            • This is true….all MEDICAL plastics (tubing…etc) are made in Malasya, Singapore or China. Just STOP and think about that for one minute. Think about your medical well being dependent on the ability to get supplies from EVERYWHERE except the USA.

        • great post wilson , thanks

        • Here we go again, Winston Smith wrote, “We have no real means to manufacture most of the good we use every day. … Take away trade with China and we are far more screwed than they are. … all that the US makes and exports today are toxic financial instruments, inflation and ideas.”

Yeesh, take a look at the facts:

“… the vast majority of goods and services sold in the United States are produced here. In 2010, total imports were about 16 percent of U.S. gross domestic product, and of that, 2.5 percent came from China. A total of 88.5 percent of U.S. consumer spending is on items made in the United States,…”

          • When’s the last time you bought an IC chip? (Integrated circuit chip, you know the things that make all your electronic devices work) Most were made in Japan (China mostly sells counterfeits that don’t work anyways) The tsunami took care of that. There was production in Thailand, but then their factories got wiped out by a monsoon.

Sure we can build it, but it will take at least a year just to get the factories tooled up to start producing the critical components.

BTW, I’m a Mfg. Engineer so I’m not talking out of my rear.

            • There are several Intel plants in Chandler Arizona. What about them?

          • Gee, that 2.5% is the biggest 2.5% Ive ever seen…Im the guy that intentionally seeks out American made prouducts or does without and I can tell you that all you gotta do is look at the labels at wally world or under your car hood…most any place and “most” of what you find aint yankee or rebel made…and the bulk of that is chiny….thats just the way it is right now.

      6. Watch out for a “friendly EMP” blast to wipe out all financial and criminal records. It won’t damage people or buildings (except for pacemaker users), but will disable our entire infrastructure. Get a bicycle too.

      7. I had to watch 10 minutes of american idol last night. I guess all the contestants sing a group song in the begining(or ending,I not sure, it was on a dvr) What happened to paula abdul??? Whats that guy from areosmith doing on a tv show?? I was told 50 million people watch that show every week. I was in awe.

Makes me wonder how many people actually KNOW about whats truly going on in the world and in our country.

How many know QE never stopped, they just renamed it.

How many people know(and actually truely care) of the TRUE suffering of people in countries like greece.

How many peolpe know and understand the ramifications of the world dropping the dollar in everyday trade.

How many people know that world war 3 has started(we are fighting in iraq, afaganistan, libya, yeman, samolia, and more. That sounds like a WW to me)

How many people ask themselves- How is history going to judge an aggressor nation(the usa)(I ask myself, how was germany judged)

How many people know how much the media and government LIE by omission and viewpoints(and just outright LIES)

How many people truly love liberty, their states, and their country more then themselves, and their selfish lives,

How many people know about the isssues laid out in this article?

Who is that hot babe that replaced paula abdul?

I ask myself these questions this morning after reading this.

        • Bread and circuses, the decline of the Roman empire comes to mind. I don’t watch TV other than “the walking dead”, Glen Beck, Info wars and movies on Netflicks, it’s just too scary to think that most people would rather keep their brains in a mush than learn what is going on. Oh well, 3 weeks of no food or water and they will either wake up or die off in a quick hurry.

          • they will more than likely be knocked off during the riots that will ensue when it all collapses.

          • Yeah, I know. That first paragraph is the conversation I had with the people around me. After 5 minutes watching it, I said “I wish 50 million people knew that india(and china on june 28th) are paying for oil with gold, and what the ramification of that on the dollar and the effect it is going to have on our lives will be”. I was told “it doesn’t matter, we can’t hear the show”. I am just kinda venting. “bread and circuses”??? How do they eat bread with their heads in the sand?

            • I think their heads are someplace else, come August when the ramifications of india and china switching to gold they may pull their collective heads out and look around. Although the shock of what will happen they may just poop them out early too.

            • Are yopu sre there’s sand in there? This article was on theeconomiccollapseblog yesterday. also a good site to read, but not many hot babes there either.

            • On the American Idol thing. I do watch some of it, for two reasons. Ok, three. The little woman watches is reason # 3. First of all, it is because of the raw talent. Some of these kids are really talented. Joshua Ledet is a modern day Sam Cooke. His singing talent has come from God, and he is a pleasure to listen to. Secondly, I just need a break sometimes from all the Bible studies, the depressing national news, all the prepping stuff, and just the usual BS that seems to come on a daily basis. I hate commercials and the Hollywood crap. Everyone has different appetites for certain things and we all need breaks from time to time. On Paula Abdul, I’m with you Kevin. She is still “hot,” for an older woman. Just sayin’. There is probably more like 100+ million watching. Last night they claimed 53 million voted.

        • These people thought “Titanic” was a movie.

        • Kevin.. you said..How many people know how much the media and government LIE by omission and viewpoints(and just outright LIES)” . just this morning, watching the news(FOX) , the quote of the day was that if the real numbers were used, unemployment would be “over 10%” …. well, YEAH!? 24% IS over 10% ! how’s that for telling the truth with a lie?

      8. Kevin

        • I wish the babe who replaced paula abdul didn’t. She is a perfect city girl, smart as a box of rocks and a perfect figure, perfect for a night out on the town.

        • aint that the truth!

      9. The wheels have been falling off the global wagon for quite some time..

it’s just that the mirage emanating from the sands ahead has created the illusion of “all’s well”..

unfortunately..the closer to the mirage we get..it disappears..

      10. It’s the flouride in the water. They believe what their handlers tell them.

      11. Yes, the red flags are popping up all over the place.

I work for a major international engineering company.
Here is an interesting conversation I overheard at work.

This one fellow, one of the “supervisor” level guys, stated that he was taking all his investments and converting to cash before the end of this month, as May has such a bad reputation as a month of calamity in the stock markets.

Now just that alone, was alarming to me. Alarming because he believe that cash will save him and alarming because I heard the same fellow state he has invested in Gold, but only on a paper level.

I told him he should be taking physical posession of any precious metals, not paper.

I cashed in my 401k last year when I was forced to leave another job. It wasn’t the smartest thing to do from a tax standpoint, but I paid off some debts, invested some of it in my own business, buying copper plate, pipe, fittings, tubing, valves, etc.

I hold no “paper” investments. All my assets are in hard metal, (lead, blued and stainless steel, gold, silver, copper and some brass) also land in the country.

As soon as I can, I will quit my day job and go full time working for peeps such as you. I do not enjoy the City Life. I am a country boy at heart. I also think I can help people who are helping themselves, people that are like minded and who want to survive.

I manufacture, by hand, distillation units, to date have not sold too many, but sold more than I thought I would. I never intended to go into business. I built the prototype and Mac Slavo and another friend saw it. They freaked and said “can you build me one”? then kept encouraging me to make these available to the prepping community. Which I have done.

Now I don’t know who gives me thuimbs down on some of my blogs here and really do not care. My units do exactly what I state they will do. Which is to distill water and distill ethanol/alcohol to fuel grade. I’m also working on a “mole sieve” to further purify the alcohol from the 94-95% all the way to 99%. Those that dispute this are lacking knowledge.

I have read articles from peeps that have lived through shtf scenarios. One item, over and over, has been listed as critical to their survival….alcohol and fuel. Which to me is the same. From an antiseptic, fuel for the approriate modified engine, to a beverage for the peeps that will need that as a benefit. And also, as a SOLVENT, for steeping various medicinal plants in, for extraction and easier consumption as replacement for lack of traditional medicines.

And for those that think I’m only doing this for money…you make me laugh, so far, I have not made any profit. Copper is very expensive and TIG welding it is time consuming. I garantee if I figured all the time I put into making one unit, my “pay” in dollars per hour would be less than minimum wage. These units are made on my days off the day job and weekends. It is the main reason delivery of them is long. What I do, I make the best unit you can buy, 100% percent out of copper. I garantee them for life unless you boil them dry and melt them, which is doubtless but possible.

What got me started in this direction was Hurricane Ike, we evacuated the Texas Gulf Coast (being prudent) and went to the country. We were prepared and had a generator with plenty of gasoline. When we went back home a week+ later, we were out of electricity for the next 1.5+ weeks, again we were prepared with generator and electricity. About 15% of the homes in our area were rendered inhabitable. We were lucky and only had to replace our roof.

I got to thinking, what if something occurred that made the grid go down for months, instead of weeks? I would need fuel to keep any electricity demands going. Where would I get that fuel when fuel pumps do not pump, or the supply is gone?

The thoughts of water distillation and the antiseptic, came later and I proceeded to design a unit for specifically the above and for emergency conditions.

I believe we will face difficultys in the days, months, years, ahead. All I do is to prepare as best I can, for my family’s survival, to attempt to carry what little technology forward that I know and to help other peeps do the same, I’m not making money, my units are expensive as the material is expensive and the labor lengthy, but they are the best units in the world for an individuals or a small community’s needs.

The only other person I know that is building something similar is the “Colonel” (sp) in Arkansas, who’s main business is selling moonshine stills and also, if you look down towards the bottom of that website, is telling people how to avoid military service etc…not very Patriotic or “American”! He has a large operation, where-as I’m just one guy trying to help. The units they sell on ebay are cheaper, but the old saying, “you get what you pay for” is true. And I doubt that the ebayers garantee their stuff, nor do they have a legitimate LLC or have commercial insurance!

I pay my part in todays society and prepare for tomorrows as the article above and for MANY other reasons tell all of us what may be coming…when, is a guess, we all know something is coming, manmade or mother nature, it has always been that way.

        Enough said,

BTW, this is the only place I advertise and you should ask around before you get disrespectful.

Please explain what a troll is….or tell me how I am somehow being contrary to what is good for people?

That is exactly the problem. This is a discussion forum and we discuss topics. Almost every post you post contains some refrence to your distillation equipment and why is is necessary for the survival of mankind. You are using the discussion forum to hawk your product. Not kosher.,
That is why you get so many thumbs down.

And about troll. Look up the definition. You post off topic remarks all the time trying to bring recognition to your product.

            • @ Terry— a troll is one who trolls around the net, trying to make it appear that they are so concerned for you…. but they are only out for themselves. Like you.

Do you have a web address you can throw in here for the 6000th time? Business that bad? No money to advertise anywhere?

Your full of shit Terry. Self serving. Like many in the prep world who have something to SELL.

You concerned about mankind? GIVE IT AWAY> after all, dollars won’t be worth the paper they are printed on, right troll?

          • He promotes his product, nut how is that so bad? If all he wanted was advertising, he would buy ads and get back to work. He puts a lot of effort into his posts and they contain useful information.

I am not a troll, but could you tell me where to apply for a job at trolls r us?

          • @ ED— I said exactly the same thing about hima few ties. He talks about collapse, but he sure wants some of your WORTHLESS dollars. Give it a fucking break. Puts up a post and makes SURE to “mention” his business and what he has done for Mac.
He feels Mac gives his business legitimacy…. If his “business” was so fucking great, he would not be on here trying to plug himself every chance he gets.

Buy some advertisement if your ideas are so fucking wonderful.
It gets more and more fucked up here every day.

            • He IS advertising here on the banner ads at the top. Which is great. Good for him and good for Mac. But that is where is should stay.

            • Thanks Ed, for seeing the banner…Mazie, take a pill….lol

like I said I never meant to go into business, Mazie, you don’t like or believe me fine, don’t read my posts…

I bet I have more experience surviving multiple environments than you have, middle east, far east, S. America, wilderness in N. America, swamps of East Texas…preserved more food, shot more game, trapped more animals, killed gators, jumped outa airplanes, shoot a rifle three shots through one hole at 100 yards if I’m breathing right…I was reloading for my Father at 8 years old…what were you doing? LOL

City pups make me laugh…I can tan leather/hides, can sharpen any blade so you can shave with it…have more knowledge of the biomes than anybody I’ve met…can grow anything and have…

So Mazie, I’m not full of shit, except right before I take a dump…lol… and you, thanks for the wonderful comments, I’ll pray for you…

As far as giving away units, tha is almost what I’m doing atm…look up the price for deoxy copper, ceriated tungsten, deoxy copper cut pieces, can you tig weld? I taught myself…Hey I got a good idea, why don’t I buy gold, give that away…I’m an American small business, I do this on the side and I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT, I pray to God YOU never need it…

I work with a bunch of City people and I find people who don’t believe what I say, think I’m full of shit also…until I show them pictures…you ought to see the look on their faces…lol

Hey, I have novel idea, why don’t you ask Mac about the personal attributes I have mentioned…ask him if I’m full of shit

So, I’ll just stay here and smile, sitting on this sack of seed…

              🙂

        • how about a link to your distiller maybe you can make a few more sales or barters

        • Sell in May, then go away. Am old Wall Street motto.

        • good post but no one reads longs posts, they read only one liners..

      12. All is very obviously NOT well in Hooterville. Our economic situation sucks and the ‘natives’ are becoming increasingly restless. Just wait until winter passes around the world and the temperatures begin to rise. This coming summer promises to become one of the most interesting and eventful in recorded history. Please take care of any last minute preparations that you have outstanding and get ready to assume a puckered-up and hunkered-down position.

God Bless and good luck to all who post here.

        • There was a lot to see there in Hooterville at one time.

      13. I thought after a year or two it’s no longer considered a recession beta DEPRESSION.? Or are we just too stupid to accept truth according to higher ups?

Calling a dog a cat because it has four legs fur ad can be used as a pet……..

        • I was kinda wondering that myself…

      14. Hell, most of the people who read this blog don’t even know that Red Dawn has already happened. But instead of Soviet Paratroopers coming out of the sky in Colorado, it was Marxist Radicals in business suits and Ivy League education becoming Czars in D.C. (from both parties)

They are building walls of laws, taxes, and Ex Orders around you and I. We’re feeling fenced in…..but

In 1860 American you could shoot an Indian and it was legal. In 1918 Russia you could take a farm and starve the Farmer and it was legal, 1930’s Germany/Jews, 1940’s America/Japanese, 1950’s Cuba/Catholics, 1970 Cambodia/School Teachers. The list is endless.

Every horror planned for the U.S. will be covered by a Law. Economic collaspe, seize your preps, pm’s and guns, it will be legal by Ex-Order and enforced with 400 million rounds of .40 cal.

If 1/2 of these red flags are for real we’re screwed, but they are a symptom of the poltical problem known as Maxism.
        1. Demoralize/take over the media, teach people to hate the cops, bankers, big business, religion.
        2.Destabilize/start violence/crash the system/maybe civil war
        3. Stabilize, send in the troops to restore order. Hello President for life Ocommie.

        • “Every horror planned for the U.S. will be covered by a Law. Economic collaspe, seize your preps, pm’s and guns, it will be legal by Ex-Order and enforced with 400 million rounds of .40 cal.”

Signing the executive order to do these things is one thing….Actually executing the order will be another thing altogether.

They should not expect peaceful compliance. In fact, I can guarantee you that it will not be. It will be resisted with vigor.

          • Walt, sure who wouldn’t fight for their freedom, or to protect their family, but did you notice item #2. Lenin said, “Civil War is the natural progression of Class Warfare”. These folks dominate 1/3 of the World’s population, including 1 billion chinese and know how to handle uprisings.
They’ve fought civil wars in almost every country that they control, or repressed counter-revolutions.

If they should pass a law that says that anyone named Walt should be put into a camp, you become an instant outlaw, and “enemy of the people”. Thus, they will find a legal way to kill you.

In the 1970’s in Cambodia anyone who needed reading glasses was either put into a camp or killed “because they looked like they might be educated”. The Marxists in Cambodia killed over 4-5 million.

If we should oppose this evil, we will need to so to the very last oz. of our resources, are you ready for that?

            • “If we should oppose this Evil, we will need to do so to the very last oz. of our resources, are you ready for that? (sorry, can’t type worth a dam)

            • Yes

            • Walt,
I do believe that should you come face to face with the Devil himself, you would spit in his eye!

If only America had 500,000 more like you.

          • Yea, You are right about all that, Walt. I believe the stage is being set for, and by, the one that is controlling the minds of all the idiots(politicians,TPTB, and sheeple). It is none other than ole Lucifer himself. He knows he is going to be released and coming back to earth before the “true Messiah” and he has all these people set up to accept his “new deal”. It is part of the one world system and if he returns; making people think he is “Christ”, the world (except the ones with the knowledge of truth) will swallow his lies; hook, line, and sinker. It will happen!

        • “Every horror planned for the U.S. will be covered by a Law. Economic collaspe, seize your preps, pm’s and guns, it will be legal by Ex-Order and enforced with 400 million rounds of .40 cal.”

If the Afghanies can resist the two greatest super-powers for years on end and still be in existence, then I can too. Those who try to execute tyranny are easy to fight against: They have no cause.

          • Doc, tell that to the 125 million+ killed by world wide communism/fascism in the last century or the billion ruled by “The Party” in China.

Oh, and please don’t tell me that we have the NRA and our guns, because millions have died in Civil Wars fighting these bastards since The Russian Civil War, and they had guns too.

You mention the Afganies, which had our help fighting the Russians in the 1980’s and Pakistan’s/Iran/China’s help fighting us. Who are we going to for help, Canada?

        • TPTB have it all covered. So we don’t have to worry.

Obama’s new ‘Atrocities Czar’ will be watching out for all of us.

          Yeah right…

Just think of the coverage this story would be getting if the skin color of everyone involved were switched.

        What a F^CKED up DEAL!!!!!

I know, I’m a rascist piece of trash because I am outraged at the lack of coverage, and at the media being pieces of SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!

        • I don’t think Obama will tell us that if he had a son, he would look like him.

I haven’t seen any coverage of this horrible murder in the news here.

      16. Folks Obama signed into law H.R. 347 on 8 March 2012 this law makes it a 10 year prison sentence for protesting. Also go reasearch 611 of the top bankers have resigned. The banks are going to collapse real soon folks real soon I would have everything ready to survival.

      17. JUST HAVE WATER, FOOD, GUNS, AMMO, FIRST AID.. AND A COMFORTABLE LAWN CHAIR TO SEE THE END..

      21. What about war with Iran and China no longer funding the USA. Two more red flags.

      22. Maybe the Mayan’s were right. Maybe 2012 does signal the end of the world (as we know it). Not physically, just economically.

Weird and scary times. Our neighbors & friends are totally clueless. It’s unbelievable.

It really makes me mad because they would try to mooch off of us if they find out we have food & medical provisions. Little do they know, we won’t even be here. Tumbleweeds will be blowing around in our yard…..

      25. Here’s my daily gloom, actually something I ran across in the WSJ yesterday.

Our lovely gov’t friends at the SEC, always looking out to protect the American investor, “inadvertently” shared a whistleblower’s personal, handwritten notebook with one of the executives being investigated… who “inadvertently” figured out his identity, which should have been protected. And by “shared,” I mean “put the notebook in his hands and allowed him to flip through it.” So, basically this man’s career and livelihood have been destroyed, thanks to the SEC.

        Snip from article:

“The person shown the notebook (in a November 2010 SEC interview), Gordon Henderson, was the head of Pipeline’s trading affiliate, Milstream Strategy Group. He said in an interview that he previously suspected Mr. Earle was an SEC informant. Mr. Henderson’s desk was near Mr. Earle’s in Milstream’s New York office, and he said he recognized Mr. Earle’s handwriting in the notebook.

Mr. Henderson said he was allowed to go through it and look at details on its pages. He said he discussed the matter with others at Pipeline, saying: “Pete’s the whistleblower.” (end snip)

Why would other whistleblowers come forward when they know that the people they are accusing are going to be allowed to flip through their personal evidence?

Great job, SEC. I’m not sure if they are stupid, corrupt, or, most likely, both. Our tax dollars at work.

      26. #23. As long as someone has employment everything is rosy wonderful life. This is the largest red flag there is because this complacency is what is leading to the cause of the other 22 red flags. People become so comfortable with the status quo and the way there life is that there is no reason to expect anything else. No one puts away for a rainy day, they just live it up. Credit card junkies. Even after what happened in 2008-09 you would think people learned their lessons about overdoing credit, “NOT”. This Christmas season the reason for booming sales was not cash, debit, or checks being used to pay for gifts, it was credit cards AGAIN. The old idiotic notion, “CHARGE IT!”

It is like an old pair of shoes that fits well until the soles become so worn out they become dangerous when the ground becomes slippery. This is exactly what is happening with the non-prepper they have totally worn out shoes and when SHTF they are going to slip and fall hard and break their neck or at least their back. The majority of the population have become this way, so comfortable with things and life that they don’t even see that this life doesn’t have any traction and tread left on it, till it is too late and they are laying flat busted up on their back.

God, help the non-prepper, because that is the ONLY one that is going to be able to help them after things fall apart. The non-prepper doesn’t even have the desire to put away for later. There may be ONLY 3 million preppers in this country, should be at least 100 million, but thank goodness for those 3 million that do prepare.

        • Be informed,

do you really think the figure is that low? Americans seem far more ‘savvy’ than most when it comes to preparedness, I expected the figure to be much higher.

          Take care

          • @ Burt the Brit. This figure is what was in the previous artilce on this site. If this is correct as the National Geographic says, it makes you very sick inside to think that less than 1% are classified as preppers. I live in an area that you would think people prepare more than single digit percentages, but I become extremely disenchanted with the common person that last few power outages from the severe thunderstorms that roll through the area.

I have electric generators and am quite ready for the power outages, as well I have boxes of candles and lights with a bib box of batteries. When the power goes out there is lighj coming from where I live. The TV and computer work, the refrigerator and freezer, and anything but the hot water heater that runs on electricity that has too much watts for the generators to handle. I went for several walks after these power outages that lasted usually about 3-6 hours, mostly at night because the thunderstorms usually come through towards late afternoon to evening. What I saw was most disturbing.

I went many blocks and I found few homes with even candles burning, no light at all. I found even fewer people will generators going. Out of this I would say much less than 1% of the people had generators going. A prepper usually has a generator for back-up temporary power. I saw less than 5% of the homes with candles or any light. Candles doesn’t make a prepper, but a prepper almost always has some way of making light. No camping gas light going, and people do camp here because the mountains is not too far away. No light, blocks of darkness to an area that people are considered a little more prepared than other areas.

So, I imagine that the number of preppers probably is less than 10 million, probably closer to 3 million out of a country with 320 million. I know, this is so depressing. It made me sick to my stomach that people take preparation so little with regard to their safety. They just don’t understand the dire outcome of NOT prepping. It is sad, stupid, and pathetic for so many. I have asked other people in other areas about preppers and the same holds true.

You think people would get a safe and secure feeling from having food, water, and other necessary supplies in their home ready for emergency, it is a good feeling. Yet these non-preppers fail miserably to store up even a week’s worth of food, even 3 days worth. They have made satire over this, people not having anything ready, but it is not funny. The suffering that the non-prepper will go through because of not storing up for emergencies will be so profound and ugly it will be a national tragedy when times go horrific. What is even worse is that most of the people will begin suffering a lot, less than a week or less after SHTF. I am just thankful that I have the insight and you and others on this site have the common sense to at least try to be ready when very bad times come.

Hopefully in you area the number of people prearing IS much higher, it sure is not where I live. 🙁

            • I live in Wyo; where compared to the East and West Coast Everyone here is a prepper, Lived in Ca for 25 years, they think a bottle of water is prep. Differing from you I think 1% is plenty, I guess I’m not a people person but I think 99% die off is about right. Buffalo could retake the Great Plains and the forests take New England; What’s the problem? If people are to dumb to take care of themselves; What do I want with them?

      27. As I read the article, it occurred to me that as goes Europe, so can the US go. In that I mean that if the EU breaks up into separate countries again, so the US could conceivably break into sovereign states again as a result of the Fed’s bungling of our debt. It may be the only “way Out”, just as it is for Europe.

        Politics be damned. Reality bites.

        • There is no similarity between Europe and the US. They are apples and oranges.

That lie about the US breaking up was propaganda planted by Russians decades ago with the hope that some fool would repeat it enough that a few idiots would start to believe it.

          You just did.

      28. Just a reminder. Yesterday a father kidnapped his son in St.Louis. The boy needed a heart transplant. They were located in the south suburbs of Chicago. How? His cell phone. The police could only tell which tower he was pinging. However, a certain federal agency that was involved, could tell which motel he was in and the room number. They can locate your cell phone to within 1 foot!

        • cell phone is the first thing you ditch if you feel you are being tracked or are on the lam

          • when the shtf i’m straping mine to a amadillo

            • sorry thats “armadillo”

            • Gonna UPS mine to Pennsylania Avenue

            • Or go to the train tracks and toss it in an open boxcar. Or mail it to a nonexistant address in another city. Maybe 1600 pennsylvania ave? or the home address of a congresscum. or fedex it to monsanto headquarters…be creative. and don’t forget to charge the battery first

            • Lol

            • Bottom of the line Nokia cell phones can go 2+ weeks on standby

        • They sure can. Either ditch it or take the battery out when you are not using it.

        • Here in the UK we use dogs & knives the way you use guns.

If you have a guard or protection dog ffs do not get it chipped!

Defeats the whole point of having the dog on so many levels it’s insane.

        • …thats why I wont ever have one…or any else of its kind…besides I dont like to be “reachable”at others whims….I like my solitude!

      29. I don’t know if we’ll be able to enjoy the rest of 2012. Not only do we have terrible economic news, it looks like we’re either going to war with Iran or Obama will let Iran develop nukes that they will use against us. Either way, with the economy the way it is, I’m convinced that our way of life could go from normal to a collapse in as little as 30 days.

        • Heck, obama has Russian troops in the United States RIGHT NOW doing joint “war game” exercises with them.

Now we are helping train our potential enemy?!

This is being done at the CIA in Colorado, the Denver International Airport and the National Security Agency in Utah.

First time in US history Russian troops have been invited onto US soil.

We seem to have far too many “firsts” with the obama administration.

          • Thanks. Do you have any independent verification of this?

            • Check Infowars, UR. Front page. 🙁

Russian airborne troops are set to train how to target terrorists in America as part of a joint anti-terror drill with the United States which will take place in Fort Carson, Colorado at the end of next month.

“Airborne troops from Russia and the United States would hold joint anti-terror drills in the U.S. state of Colorado between May 24 and 31,” reports the Xinhua news agency, citing Russian Defense Ministry Col. Alexander Kucherenko.

      30. While I don’t think a majority of Americans actually realize the creeping fascism of our corp gov.,I was watching C-Span and was amazed at the number of callers that were awake. Nearly 100% of the callers were against the spreading MIC. Six months ago if you listened to the call-ins they favored the corp policies.I think DC is getting worried about the slaves. The Chairman of the Armed Services Committee was on. A caller asked him about using drones over American civilians. He said he didn’t know anything about it. Yet, he claimed that there was a drone manufacturer in his home district in Calif. and his nephew was a drone operator out of Creech,Nevada. He said the drones overseas are controlled by an operator in Afghanistan for the takeoff and landing and then his nephew would take over the mission from Nevada. He was the pilot with a munitions expert on his right to fire the weapons. There wis alawyer behind them to give the go ahead to fire the kill shot. Amazing

        • Lawyers have the final say, why am I not surprised?

      31. Keep in mind one thing. The “preparedness” equipment supply system is stretched to it’s full capacity with just one percent of the population prepping. If the number of people preparing just doubles to TWO PERCENT, then everything you will want will go missing overnight.
Couple that with the gov buying all available ammo and the weapon you now depend on will be nothing more than an elegant club.

        • RED; all the people who were preppers 4 years ago have all the stuff they can store; this has to be a new batch. Yes, we all buy a little now and then but mostly we have stuff, I haven’t bought a gun in years, and except for some 22 and 2 boxes of 38, no ammo. I agree N-Pack food is going fast everywhere; but it keeps 30 years. It’s not being eaten or at least not by people who are getting more. Things are afoot wish I knew what.

      32. walk through the wall mart look at what people are buying take a look into their eyes as they shop pay attention to the back background lights and sound it seems like a Zombie Curtain

        Chief Seattle

Great Spirit of Light, come to me out of the East (red) with the power of the rising sun. Let there be light in my words, let there be light on my path that I walk. Let me remember always that you give the gift of a new day. And never let me be burdened with sorrow by not starting over again.

Great Spirit of Love, come to me with the power of the North (white). Make me courageous when the cold wind falls upon me. Give me strength and endurance for everything that is harsh, everything that hurts, everything that makes me squint. Let me move through life ready to take what comes from the north.

Great Life-Giving Spirit, I face the West (black), the direction of sundown. Let me remember everyday that the moment will come when my sun will go down. Never let me forget that I must fade into you. Give me a beautiful color, give me a great sky for setting, so that when it is my time to meet you, I can come with glory.

Great Spirit of Creation, send me the warm and soothing winds from the South (yellow). Comfort me and caress me when I am tired and cold. Unfold me like the gentle breezes that unfold the leaves on the trees. As you give to all the earth your warm, moving wind, give to me, so that I may grow close to you in warmth. Man did not create the web of life, he is but a strand in it. Whatever man does to the web, he does to himself.

These are troubling times for certain, reflection of your life and values are in order. Be strong and prepared. Emulate the magnificent eagle, see only what is there and act accordingly.

          ———

Does not the sun rise to salute us, even as it rises to salute the most powerful man on earth?

Does every man not think his burden is the heaviest?

Is it not true that we are once a man and twice a child?

          As the Eagle soars
          As the Wolf runs
          As the Wind blows

from them we must learn freedom!

So here we are, on our computers…discussing what is happening in the world, what is coming to the world….who is behind it….when it will come?

We want it to come, we can’t take the cage anymore, we need to be free, even if some of us pay the ultimate price to be free…..

There is only one way to become free at this point, we all know what that is, yet no one is willing to be the first….

Fear…….fear is what is happening…yes even you guys with all the guns and bullets….you are not willing to start it……if you were it would already be started, yet we are here on our keyboards……right?

Prepping, Bugging out……really? Do you really think you can “prepare” enough?

In the days ahead, will you look back on these days and hate yourselves for only typing and not acting?

Next time you see a Mother with her young child, think to yourself what you are willing to do to protect that child?

Because we all know, all that is needed for Evil to win is for Good Men to do nothing……

We can hack at the branches all day long and the tree will stand…….

          OR…..we can destroy the roots……..our choice….

time is short now, what will it be?

We have a saying in the world……Money is the “Root” of all evil……

So I guess we know where to chop don’t we?….what does each and every dollar say on it, where did it come from?

This is where the chopping needs to begin……

          aloha…

          • Aloha,

            Philosopher:

1.somebody who studies philosophy: somebody who seeks to understand and explain the principles of existence and reality
2.somebody holding particular beliefs: somebody who believes in a particular philosophy and thinks and acts accordingly
3.thinking person: a thinker who deeply and seriously considers human affairs and life in general

You are a philosopher. Thank you.

      35. Harry Reid just introduced a new Bill, that if passed, would allow the IRS to seize your Passport and any other “permits”, if you are “suspected” of owning the D.C. criminal enterprise 50K or more.

Permits, like a FFL, concealed weapons, hunting, fishing, ….who knows?

        • It has already PASSED the Senate! It is SB 1813. Contact your House rep and stop this unconstitutional seizure!

The IRS can ACCUSE Americans of delinquency of tax payment without due process. Can revoke passports and travel rights. Can place the accused in a centralized database (good luck ever getting off that list!). Authorize the removal of their right to own a firearm.

All of this simply because of an accusation of back taxes of $50,ooo or more. Not a conviction, just an accusation..

      36. Did he list $5+ gas? Experts have said that $4 gas was a primary driver of the 08 collapse.

nothing like a country built and designed on cheap oil.

      37. It’s getting to the point that I believe almost the exact opposite of what main stream (or is that lame stream) media tells us. I don’t understand a lot of what the economic reports say (I have no idea what a derivative is) but putting together what pieces I do understand, it looks like we’re in for a world of financial hurt within the next 6 – 9 months and it won’t be confined to Europe. I know it costs me more for gas and groceries are more expensive, almost by the day. Sometimes being broke is an advantage – I don’t have anything to lose when it all crashes – and am learning how to do things and make things do without a lot of money. And the EOD supplies keep growing, though it’s a pretty modest stash as yet. For me, mindset and determination are almost as important as what’s in the supplies closet.

And to digress just a bit, what about the story that was on-line yesterday and today about the Marines training for amphibious landings again and moving back to their original operational status? There was some claptrap talk about “humanitarian assistance” which I’m sure is true in part, but seriously, is someone noticing how much coastline there is in Iran and/or Syria? Or North Korea? I know, not the subject of the above article, but it did give me pause. Misneach.

      38. OH geez here we go again. Not the market crash thingy again

      39. If you are reading this you are probably already “awake”.
The key that we all need to focus on is awakening others. The best defense we have is the power of the people, so spread the word and dont be afraid of the ridicule of sleepers, we know the truth, and nothing is going to change untill too many of us get fed up and use the power of our numbers to force a change.

I believe in the heart of the american people, we just need them to

        WAKE UP!!!!!!!

      40. I went to the store to get some red material to make a few flags. They were out of it. Said they still had plenty of white, though. It’s their best seller.

Headline- Nuclear Weasels Invade Hooterville! Panic Grips Town!
Some yahoo has decided to spill the beans on all the prepping going on here. Evidently, once the word got out about all the patriots, preppers and resisters around here, our little town suddenly became interesting. Now we have shifty looking agents from every known government bureau in the world, all running around trying to question people.
They ask lame questions like, ‘Do you own any firearms?’ ‘Do you have food stockpiled?’ ‘How much?’ ‘Do you have extra fuel or other supplies?’
Of course, most of the locals don’t tell them anything. Or else they try to have fun with them. ‘Sure, I got firearms. Got my great granddad’s black powder rifle from the war between the states. The barrels a little bent but it still shoots good. Want to buy it? I’ll make you a good deal.’
‘Why, yes! We do have food stored up. We have nearly a dozen jars of pickled okra left in the root cellar. Would you like to stop by the house and join us for lunch? We’re having fried squirrel brains with it! Best eatin’ you ever locked a lip on.’
‘Fuel? Oh, sure, we got lots of fuel. It’s been a mild winter and there’s still a cord and a half of split wood left in the barn. With that, plus the busted pallets Junior brings home from the factory, we might not have to start the chain saw at all this year.’
Generally, the agents get bored and go look for someone else to bother. Then, there’s the television documentary crews running all over town. Must be half a dozen of those big satellite trucks roaming around. They’re even easier to bamboozle than the feds.
Anchor: ‘Tell us, what is the most vital thing you have stored?’
Bubba: ‘Well, I got me and the little woman each a brand new camoflauge emergency flag. We can wave ’em and give the alarm iff’n a mergency happens.’
Anchor: ‘Camoflauge? Isn’t that supposed to keep you from being seen?’
Bubba: ‘Well, sure! That’s the best part! We can warn the others, but still not be noticed. Pretty good combination, huh?’
And on it goes. All this attention will probably die down soon, and we’ll go back to being the safe, boring little town we were before. In the meantime, we’re kinda enjoying it. Business is way up at the gas station and at Moe’s Mosey On In Cafe. He said he even had to order extra meat, he’s been selling so many chicken fried lunch specials. I just hope the visitors don’t find out what the ‘meat’ really is. I’m eatin’ lunch at home all this week, just to be on the safe side.

        • lol…there’s a lot of truth to your humor Okie.

      41. For a website that likes to expose corruption and censorship and tyranny they sure do alot of it themselves……that’s 2 comments in 2 days that was censored .
        It should be http://WWW.HYPOCRACY.COM

        • C’mon Rich, you know we don’t censor comments here – especially yours! I always love reading the Rich99 perspective 🙂

In all honesty, I’ve been a bit slammed with a cross-country move lately, so have been out of pocket for several days. Should be back full-time in the next day or so. Thanks for your patience with this.

          • I appreciate your non aggressive response

            • Rich: I’d be interested in the numbers for your site. Why not post the number of people who read an article. I’d like to get an idea of the numbers of people who read this stuff. Not counting Gov Trolls

          • @MAC-hope you’r comming out west, ever since californians abandoned cali(and left it for mexico), and invaded all the western states us “cowboyz” been out numbered by the zombies!!

          • Beer to you Mac. Thanks for all your efforts. Since reading your wealth…I bailed on the market, ran with metals and my wealth has doubled.

            You rock man.

      42. The TSA strikes again! Hysterical 4 yr old girl treated like a terrorist. TSA goons threaten to shut down airport if they can’t molest her. Is there NO point at which we will say, “We’ve had enough!”? These bastards are screaming at a freightened FOUR YEAR OLD CHILD! And insisting on a physical molestation of her. May God have mercy on these scumbags, because I sure as hell won’t!
It was at the Wichita, KS airport. google it if you want. I need to turn the news off and go buy more ammo. Lots of it.

        • Okie, did you see the picture of that little girl in her princess outfit? Unreal.

The report said they referred to her as “the suspect” and they thought she had a gun because she hugged her grandma.

          Sick.

          • i guess they just got done with one at JFK international..she was a cripple with metal crutches and steel braces on her legs, they made the family come back from the boarding gates to go back over her search..the family missed their flight, and the cripple girl got mis-handled by the T urds S uck A ss

            • VRF- that’s sickening. Much more of this nonsense and I’m gonna be leaning out the window yelling ‘I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore!’

          • Daisy- I did see the picture. She reminds me a lot of my daughter when she was little. Stuff like this makes by blood boil. I can sure understand why nina-o is so….so…the way he is! Wish everybody had that level of pissed-off passion!

            • Okie, I think if everyone had his mentality we would not be in the situation we are in.

            • I am not going to that article. If I see THAT picture, will SNAP!!! I’ve HAD IT with these poor excuses for men(and women)!!!!!! POUND SAND TSA!!!!!!

            • TSA searches girl with ( I think muscular distrefy) She just recieves leg braces yesterday and first time walking tsa thought bomb was in her leg braces>>>SICK MOFOS’s I will not fly because of them, touch my three year old daughter mother f’ers and I know i would be in jail. Funny it is abuse to have your kid pick vegies on a farm that is abuse but for parents to let a stranger fondle thier kid is ok because some twisted gov official made some screwed up law that says it is ok somehow peopke are ok with it. I like the dude who was searched by the TSA and they said he was suspected of having a bomb he stripped NAKED, I was PROUD of him for taking a stand all flyers need to show up at the airport naked. unshaven and unbathed……lift up those stinky hairy armpits and let em search ya then, TSA would not be wanting that job anymore LOL. Sorry I am just sick of all this. And THe darn cost of food is pissin me off. I am couponing and still not doing well with grocery shopping…aaaargh. And even if we get rid of all the nasties in DC and vote new people in they are all of the same lot. We need a true third party maybe a 4th to replace these monsters that are dictators. We need people that CARE about COUNTRY NOT MONEY!!! soory for the rant just aggrivated with all the horseshit!!!

            • I think that same bunch that invaded Hooterville has now set up shop in all the Emergency Rooms in all the hospitals. I had to take the little woman recently because of a Gall bladder incident, and all these shifty looking dudes posing as LEnforcement kept peering at us. The nurse ran thru some questions and later came back asking if wifey had been having any thoughts of suicide. If it had been me, my response would have been; “Hell no! But I have had my eye on a few TSA lately”. I wonder if they would have denied me treatment or required a straight jacket with an open back and a locking band?

          • This abuse is obviously intentional. They go out of their way to harass obviously innocent travellers.

        • How far will these paid for thugs go? They are common criminals. Those TSA agents that just got busted for letting drugs go thru for a payoff are no different than SS brownshirts. Their day will come.

          • JRS ~

I’m not a vindictive person, but I’ve gotta say, I’ve been developing a sh*t list and these TSA creeps are definitely on it.

            D

            • daisy- To the watch list you go.

Calling public officials creeps and starting $hit lists are serious thought crimes.

Man the feds are screwed now! Women are evil, vengeful creatures(did I mention most are insane?)!!!

            • I believe that I HAVE heard you say that, Kev! 😉

            • @Daisy- 🙂

            • @ Daisy I am with ya with the TSA MY Motto is mess with my kids dare ya cuz Hell hath NO fury like a woman scorned……oh they have no clue to how many Nons are gettin Pissed. I twist when I hear these stories of these kids being legally molested.makes no sense you teach your kid let nobody touch ya but let is pay a few hundred dollars to be fondled ….

        • Let me get this straight cos I feel like I’m misunderstanding something.

You got a bunch of goons molesting an innocent 4 year old baby girl in a public place and not one member of the public did the right thing?

Why didn’t anyone step up to the plate and punch the peado’s lights out? Do the decent thing?

If I understand this correctly you already used those white flags and the games over.

Last time I was in the US was only 4/5 years ago for work – wtf happened to you?

          • I did the math, in 2010-2011 I personelay went through tsa 60 + times(I got many back rubs and hand jobs because I do not go through scanners). I feel like a piece of $hit. My most enduring memory, is of a vet, with a forrestal hat on, making eye contact in seatle(while he was getting a hand job, and the look on his face was not pleasure, I lucked out and went through metal detectors)). I feel like a piece of trash, but what could I do alone and un-armed? Loose my job?? I have the same old lame excuses from other men that were conquered by tyranny, and I am a piece of trash!

      43. Worthwhile, easy to understand, sobering and scary…

        Worth watching and thinking about!

United States Budget Dilemma – YouTube

        Y’all Beware!

      44. To the people wondering why so few are prepping…maybe, just maybe, it might have something to do with the fact that most people are flat friggin broke. My family is in the process of setting up a more self sufficient homestead, but its a slow process. Most people are scraping to get by; paying the rent or mortgage, car payment, insurance, utility bills, food and transportation costs leave very little left over for prepping. Add to that the student loans and credit card bills most people have, and there’s literally nothing left. It has nothing to do with ignorance or waiting for the government to fix things. We aren’t sheeple, we’re hard-working Americans that have gotten ass raped by the system.

        • Go to the Mormon site and get the minimum list for one person for a year, poverty is no excuse. Only costs a little over $100 for a years minimum for one. Rice, beans, wheat, Veg oil, salt, Vit pills. Pop cans near any school, trash brass from any range, lots of places can get you that much

      45. Off Topic….I had to call the IRS the other day because we received a letter they were auditing our W-4 (W-4….REALLY??? I had not idea they did that). Anyway, a really nice lady finally answered after I was on hold for about 20 minutes. She said “Good Afternoon I’m Ms. Smith, Badge number 10000569875682. I said if that is really your badge number then there is too damn many of you.

Ms Smith was not not the real name that she gave me but her badge number was really that long……of real!

      48. Greetings Everyone!
As the Bible warns,”times hard to deal with” are now upon us.I’m planning/budgeting for $10-$20 per gallon fuel in the near future.I’m also trying with small success to “set something aside” for when prices REALLY begin to rise(T.P. in the 24 pack for starters)buying cans of different lentils as well.A weapon may make the list soon too.I have many “friends” whom I’ve sounded out on the “prepper” way of looking at things. The net results were not good(check some my past posts on the subject).People, even “God-Fearing”(in the best sense of the term)seem to expect some form of “Greater Authority” to save them as things get further downslope.Even though I’m certain that God will act in his own good time,I’m skittish of preachers who claim to be “in the know” as to EXACTLY when.I suspect that even the TPTB will crumble and fall apart none too soon. It’s all built on imperfect men’s mad desires for complete control and excessive self-importance.And getting these things to the detriment of everyone/everything else. Why else would the Japanese TPTB allow their failed nuclear plants to keep spreading the toxic wastes into the oceans and REFUSE to at least attempt to seal the place A.K.A. Chernobyl?Tokyo’s citizens have been given a death sentence as we speak and much the wind borne rads are already a part of ALL crops from California(China/East Asia are getting a good dose as well)…..
And the good people I know think I’m slightly “touched” and an alarmist!
        Best to All
Hope you’re safe and have enough to eat this day

      53. The red flags have been with us for years. Now things are about to get interesting. We’re at a point in time where we have no choice but to change or perish. The revolution has to take place in our heads first. The fact is we’ve never knwon any other way to live.

& family. We believe in doing the right thing. I cannot and will not change regardless
        of the circumstances.

I am reminded of a Hank Williams song, Mind Your Own Business, ‘mind your own business & you won’t be minding mine.’

        • ARSheepDog wrote, “and am a law abiding citizen.”

You never read Three Felonies a Day, did ya?

Oh, they’ll be minding your business alright.

Red White and Blue, indeed. Psft.

Freedom and liberty take a back seat cause Red White and Blue rule you.

      56. The coming financial collapse in Europe will be a tsunami toward the American shore. We will follow suit in short order. The fearful thing is not the collapse, but the aftermath, civil unrest/war. For a long time I believed that the situation would devolve into war between the Haves vs.The Have Nots. But, with the recent push by Obama, Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the New Black Panther Party for a race war, I believe we will see a combination of both. Talk about the fog of war, it will be near impossible to distinguish between the two, but it won’t matter much to those trying to survive the battles. Damn near too horrific to think about!

      62. Here is a red flag. ocean levels will rise, polar bears will die out, and all the ice – everywhere on the planet will disappear…Oh, wait, you said a red flag, not a red herring. 🙂 sorry about that. what about the student loan bubble? 270 billion in unpaid loans for graduate degrees in underwater basket weaving and social work.

      63. Right. Yeah, I’ve got the rice and beans. Whew. I feel safe now. You may be buying for a single person, but I’m buying for a family of six. I don’t get food stamps or any other federal safety benefits. I make $700 a biweekly pay period. $200 of that goes in my gas tank to get to said job. I can’t really say, “Sorry kids, you don’t get to eat this week. I have to buy more rice and beans in case the shtf.”

Again, I’m trying for a more self sufficient lifestyle- gardens, chickens, rabbits, etc. All that takes money and time, of which both are in short supply. I don’t want sympathy. I’m doing fine. I’m just sick of hearing “Preppers” talk about those of us lacking a personal arsenal and a year’s supply of mre’s as ignorant sheeple.
