With the way that things are heading in this country, it is not surprising that there are approximately 3 million preppers in the United States today. What is surprising is that there are not more people prepping. The economy is rapidly falling to pieces, the national debt is absolutely soaring, the earth is becoming increasingly unstable, a major war could erupt in the Middle East at any time and the fabric of our society is coming apart right in front of our eyes. Coming in the next few years…I have to disagree: it is ALREADY happening. Our government is already using the Constitution for toilet paper; faceless corporations are already stealing from people (hello? MF Global anyone?), we’re already being blatantly LIED TO about inflation, unemployment, etc etc. That is why I am not “prepping” that makes it sound like I’m waiting for something bad to happen. What I am doing is LIVING: living differently, changing my attitudes, changing how and where I get my food and clean drinking water, changing my “Benny bucks” into real money that’s shiny and hard. And friends, this four eyed computer nerd is getting guns and ammo and learning how to use them.

Stellar post SonOfSam, and spot on. While a sudden catastrophe might accelerate things even more, we have been in an accelerating collapse for some time. It took centuries for Rome to fully collapse, but that civilization was not as dependent as ours on importation/theft of external resources, nor as efficient. Ours will occur much more rapidly, and the effects will be far less forgiving.
The only way to maximize your survivability is to change your mindset and mode of living right now. Anything else is accepting your enslavement, current and future.

I’ve been prepping since ’81 and I haven’t got a clue what the “real picture” is.
My aunt and cousin were visiting this past weekend from England. Talked to them about prepping and showed them my supplies. Even took them out shooting. They understood where I was coming from after a long conversation and believed it was a good idea to have something stashed. We’ll see how much they really listened.

Two things:
1) the more of your immediate neighbors who are prepped, the less you’ll have to deal with them sneaking into your house for food. They also tend to help defend you better if they’re well-fed.
2) Not all non-preppers are harmless or helpless. Many of them are well-armed, and are rather creative when it comes to B&E. Unless you and yours are capable of fending off a *large* mob (you’re not) and are capable of staying awake 24/7/365 on guard duty for the first year (you’re not), you’ll be in deep kimchi.
Most are just scared and dont even want to think anything like that could ever happen. So they just look the other way and hope they will be dead by then.
Like the dead weight in the Congress. They only live (and pass laws) for their short, wastefull life.
At least 3/4 of Congress will be in chains after the mass arrests take place… which is right where they belong.
My dad thinks that, and if things turn ugly earlier he made it very clear he’s expecting a nicely spread bed and room service at my place… Wasn’t quite sure what to say to that!
Ha! If somebody (even an unprepared close relative) wants to share my house and food, they will be sleeping on a cot in the basement, hauling jugs of water up from the stream, and weeding my garden every day.

I had a talk with my father in law over the weekend about prepping for the first time(my wife didnt want me to but I did anyways) he said hes content dying with the millions of other unprepared people, except for when it goes down he will be at my door asking for food cant wait!
Rock – I beleive this is the one reason that is the most common. When people say ‘I’d rather be dead then live through that kind of major disaster,’ I answer them,’But what if you do live through it, even if you don’t want to, what then?’
Reason number one is “stupid is as stupid does”. I have heard people say at least 3/4 of these, and it makes me sick to my stomach. Haven’t people learned just how fast something can come about, without warning. Even with warning, these morons would still not be trying to stock up as they would say it would just pass. I just don’t understand how most of these idiots can go through 9/11, all these earthquakes, terrorism in other countries, go through a 2008 depression, and so on and so on and not learn anything.
This is a very good article as it really irritated me with the shear absurdity of what people have fallen into. Maybe this is good for those that have prepared, because they are the ones that have the self defense. All these other characters that don’t prepare even for 3 days probably have given up their firearms because the government has called guns “evil”. Probably those that have not not prepared have not even owned a firearm and couldn’t even hit anything but there own foot if they even tried to use a firearm. Maybe these individuals that choose not to prepare will not even try to take what preppers have sacrificed their luxaries and many other pleasures, and just go try to chew on some tree bark or go eat their lawns.
I was really thinking about this, and the non prepper will likely not put up much of a fight, even in large numbers, against those that have stored up food and supplies. Most non preppers are quite spongy like the Pillsbury Doughboy. They do not want to face off with the common prepper that is very tough and usually has more than enough ammunition to handle even a herd of blobs trying to take their food from them and their families. Maybe this is a positive out of so many that choose not to prepare, they are too stupid and too weak to put up any type of threat to the prepper.
One can only hope they will go the way of the DoDo Bird quietly, but most of them have learned how to whine pretty well. When they have’nt eaten in a while, and are watching thier families go hungry, many will flip out. Expect them to blame those who had the foresight to prepare, and act accordingly.

I’m actually a prepper, but not a true believer – just a cautious guy aiming to be as prepared and self sufficient as I can. I’d like you to really think about your words. Consider this. They learned the correct lesson. Our society is surprisingly incredibly robust. Americans don’t fall to pieces in a split second. Outside of the big cities we are more cohesive and more capable than you doomers will ever know. 9/11, earthquakes, terrorism, “depression” and yet how many Americans are blowing away their nextdoor neighbors? How many people are starving in the streets and eating human flesh? Have you ever sat back to realize that for the last hundred years or so they are the ones who have been proven correct time and time again and all the doomers, religious nuts, end of the world types are the ones who were WRONG.
A personal TEOTWAWKI can happen to any one of us at any time. preparing for tough times is a reasonable course of action. Having absolute faith in a complete collapse of society is to use a technical term – goofy.
Even if the SHTF worse than anything in American history, I will be more likely to share my wheat and lentils with my god fearing and helpful neighbors than a bunch of paranoid, misanthropes who seem to look forward to their neighbors’ suffering. There are lots of moral and capable unprepared people and and there are some selfish, violent, and delusional preppers. I’ll be making sure my powder is dry and be keeping a closer eye on the second group.

@ DD. You are not dumb, just a little bit skeptical. Now, imagine someone that gets into smaller accidents all the time, yet does not curb their driving habits because they were minor. Eventually it comes, the type of accident that leaves the person’s car in two piece or more. The world has not curbed its own attitudes and bad habits that leads it into the abyss, EVENTUALLY. The geophysical aspect is speculation as events sometimes follow eon scales. Manmade disasters do follow patterns.
Please realize that the planet is only so big and there has never been so many on this planet at one time. There is a finite amounts of freshwater, arable land, food, energy, space, etc. The more crowded slums become, especially in hot humid areas, the more disasese develops and the higher the chance of a super pahogen coming out of that filth. This is one reason, a very good reason why people should be preparing, a true pestilence like some of these horror movies about a super bug getting out like Stephen King’s “The Stand”.
Each year the law of probability says that war will start on a global scale. It has been 67 years since WW2 and one can calculate the risk of one starting by simply plugging in how often a world war starts. Every 50 years means there is a 74% chance of WW3 this year. Every 100 years there is about a 50-50 chance. Every 200 years a world war starts means there is a 29% chance of WW3 beginning this year. Statistical probability stays human species is DUE for something global.
People continue to fight wars and continue their same pattern of behavior, so one cannot say that mankind has outgrown their need to fight wars on a global scale. They thought that after WW1, the wars to end all wars. Not correct. A TEOTWAWKI event would definitely fit into WW3 as the nukes would fly and the mushrooms will spout all over the planet.
I can understand your point about people thinking that prepper cry wolf too often. In the same, I can see how events on smaller scales continue to happen and you would think that people would learn from these smaller scale calamities and put away what they need. You would think just out of convenience they would put away what they need so they don’t have to depend on walmart to get their next meal if they are laid up with a bad flu or something.
I am sure you as a prepper truly feel the wonderful security of having what you need in the house that you can access and get to 24 hours a day when you are there. I grew up with the type of go to the store and get what you need and forget about stocking up, and even as a child I could not stand this when my other relatives had a full pantry. A non-prepper doesn’t and cannot feel this security, they only feel that walmart or their local pizza delivery person will ALWAYS delivery and that I cannot understand because it just doesn’t make any sense to me.
Bad times will come, it always does and I would think these non-preppers learned from just the Superdome hell that those that dind’t prepare went through. What is even more incredible to me is to have someone actually go through a nightmare of not having anything after a disaster and still not learn from it.
I am just glad that you prepare, that makes you smarter than about 99% of the population.
There really are no valid reasons to not at least make minimal preperations for hardship. Most of the people who voice any of the stated “reasons” have never had a really difficult event occur in thier lives. I learned after a bad injury, and subsequent layup that it is foolish not to have some extra food in your house if nothing else.
Most of the people who voice the stated “reasons” have been well-conditioned. Pavlov would be proud what the parasites have done to people’s abilities to objectively view reality and make sound decisions.

@just me, Number 35 is the most common excuse i hear personally from most people nowadays. The ones who say that truley dont believe anything bad will happen so they say it to look like they agree with you but wont have to put forth any action to prove it.

I say living it up is going to the local sporting goods store and really loading up on anything and everything camping, Firearms and more firearms and plenty of ammunition, freeze dried foods, water filters, etc, etc. That is my idea of living it up, having everything available to have that wonderful feeling of security. I just wish I could afford to really live it up like this.

Agreed. Anyone who is betting solely on a politician, ANY politician to solve these problems is delusional. Even if Ron Paul were to get elected he would be president, not dictator. He is limited in what he can do by the US Constitution and he of all people would actually adhere to those limitations. Thus, were he to become president, it would probably be the beginning of a turn around, not the completion of it.
Even if he got his way completely, things would get worse until all of the bad debt and malinvestment that has been sparked by all of the Fed’s bubbles had been resolved. Thus times would likely get much harder in the short term because we finally would have a president with the guts to stop kicking the can down the road. If anything, you should prepare harder if you support Ron Paul because you know what is coming if he wins. In the end the country might finally get back on the right track but only if he had the support of the legislature, something that is not guaranteed given the nature of the career politicians in Congress.

Just watched some footage from the nato summit. i dont understand why people go to protests, they just stand there, some chanting and others walking around on cell phones. The reason this will drag on for the next 5-10 years is because all we keep doing is saying “i dont like it”. we are already enslaved, so why are we waiting for something bad to happen. as if waiting for something bad to happen or for TPTB to make their first move will somehow free us. this website needs to actually plan and organize people in every state to come together. right now were all just prepping selfishly for us and our families only worrying about our own little bubbles. im guilty too, but there has to be another way to stop this.

That’s easy: Go old school. How did people organize political movements before the days of electronic media? Answer that question and then use the answers to direct you to the proper path. Just be sure that everyone in your movement is on the same page and keeps the planning information beneath the electronic radar. That way you can do your (hopefully peaceful) demonstrations without the government knowing about it first. Remember: Social media networks and search engines are NOT your friend. Most of them (IXQUICK excluded) are in bed with the US Government due to reciprocal agreements to help with hacking issues. Using any of them to plan a public protest is asking to have your door kicked in.
What’s stopping you from organizing now? A website/blog/FB is not the place to do it though. No one on this site is going to be able to augment your supplies with their own, nor help you protect and defend each other. Maybe a very few people can get together through sites like this, but when the SHTF, I will likely never hear from any of you again.
My neighbors, family and friends are another matter entirely, and if you are waiting to organize those folks, then it is the same as waiting to prep. Organize now. Prepare now.
P.S. – Don’t discount the protesters in Chicago. At least they are awake, and many of them are ready and willing to put their safety and liberty on the line to try to bring awareness to others. Also, to carry out a protest of that magnitude requires a lot of planning, too. Just ask DHS.
Item #15 said its too expensive. I don’t agree with that assertion but I believe the excuse I don’t have the money is prudent for many people. Wasn’t there a story going around a few months ago about a $1,000 and how a majority of American’s couldn’t raise it if they have too? I was close to that recently; I mean I just had to put all my available income into that next door neighbors land I wanted so badly – like the number of acres I had wasn’t enough. Fact is he had a nice spring and stream on the property – the water I thought was gold – but buying it nearly broke my piggy bank and left me cash poor. I almost had to sell some silver dang it.
In all seriousness I was going through a very hard time when I realized I wasn’t well prepared. I had very very little money to spend on “preps” but found junk around the house to sell and make it possible. Just this week I wanted to spend $200 at Costco on an extra bucket of rice, lentils and their seed package (all on sale I think right now) and my wife said…really….don’t we have enough – you said we did….why can’t I lie.
You dont have to lie and you dont have to do it all at once. What you have to do is make sure to KEEP DOING IT. Even if you have to “throttle back” keep the throttle open. If you can’t do 200, do 100 or even 50
Tell you what I think. And remember it’s worth what you paid for it. First I just bought a few extra cans of what I was getting anyway. Then I started buying case lots cause it was cheaper and it was still the stuff I use. Then as I found good deals on FD 25 year pack food I would buy a few big cans of that and uses the regular stuff. And I have started (Well along ) in replacing much of my storehouse with N Pack, Things like tomatoes don’t keep well in regular cans so I’m using them up. I admit I just bought a case of diced Tomatoes for 50C a can but it wasa deal and I’ll use them
If anything is motivating, it is weather disasters when the power goes out for days. So this should motivate everyone to at least have two to four weeks of food, a gas grill or camp stove, candles, and extra daily use items put up. Don’t tell others about your preps, even stupid relatives or co workers, those in your social clubs or circles, golf buddies, etc. The worse things get, the better off we are keeping quiet and low key. Have trusted like minded “bartering buddies” but tell no one about what you are storing up.
Laura…..I agree on the weather disasters. Here is central FL a few years ago we got 4 (YES 4) hurricanes in one year.There was extensive damage and no power for 3-4 WEEKS. In the beginning there were no resturants open (no power), there were no gas stations open (no power). We found a couple of stores open (with generators) there was police officers present with sales for supplies being rationed.
This was MY EYE OPENER.
Most people didn’t even have enough gas in a gas can to remove limbs blocking driveways.

Tina: I have been thru numerous hurricanes since the late 60’s in Fla. where I used to live, and now in S.E. Alabama. The stores are stripped out just before the hurricane lands as people wait till last minute. I see the weather if one is way down in the gulf, I load up way ahead and gas up, etc.
I always wonder. What happened to the plywood from last time? Do people not have anything else to spend money on besides buying more plywood every yeaar? What happened to the air conditioners from last year’s A/C drive?

Yeah like its going to be easy to steal from a prepper. First you have to find one, and then you have to get them out of the way, not a very easy proposition.
If the prepper has been buying food you don’t think he would have been designing and arranging powerful protection for his food and fam too ?
All other things being equal, the advantage goes to those with a defensive position and knows the lay of the land.
And oh yeah, how are you going to get to the preppers cache? A bicycle? And where are you going to get your food calories to pedal with and water to drink to assault the prepper? You can bet he has battery powered EMP-protected motion detectors, dogs, night vision, and infrared cameras. You can bet he has a team, and walkie talkies. You can bet he has like four or five 12 gauge shotguns with loads of buck and sons, daughters, and a wife that know how to use them all. How are you prepared on running into hidden razor wire in the middle of the night. Or how about taking care of that pesky prepper with a roof hatch and about a gallon of carbolic acid, lye, or gasoline. Got that covered do you? With prepping comes defense. and you had better bet it will be serious and ready for a long seige.
I have ‘friends’ who jokingly talk about taking my preps. I don’t think it’s funny. When my preps have to be used the SHTF and don’t come knocking.

And the broken glass idea is good. I saw loads and loads of jagged glass shards along the top of walls in Mexico. Inexpensive and probably pretty effective or we would not have seen it everywhere.
About three years ago when I started prepping, I made the mistake trying to get all my ‘friends’ to start prepping too, so the cat is out of the bag. My OpSec is blown trying to help folks. Now the friends have been ‘joking’ about stealing my reserves. That’s my family they are talking about. Not funny to this nerd.
They have gone from claiming I’m a nut, and that we will never need the reserves, to making jokes about stealing my families food! A pretty big change on their part. And it’s happening all over the country. No wonder we are seeing food inflation. Already there is nt enought to go around.
We have been gradually moving our stores to the country. My special buddy has country land, a house well away from population, and a family with kids, but no preps. And he has mighty skills. So a ‘team’ is born. And I have a bunch of boys and daughters who will stop at nothing to protect their families. We might be over-educated nerds but Lord help those who try to take our food.

I hold native American wisdom in a very high regard, but in this particular case, I would have liked to ask that chief:
“O Wise One, what if those around you, or more specifically, those in power over you feed your evil wolf?”
No one can feed my wolves but me. I prepare, and pray for kindness, to prevent the evil wolf from being unleashed.
We are the ones in charge of our own souls, and to the extent they are blackened and stained, we can’t stand in front of God and point our finger at someone else. It didn’t work for Adam and Eve, and it won’t work for us.

Agreed. As Derrick Jensen has said, “That’s one of the beautiful things about denial; by definition you don’t know you’re in it.” The path out of denial is always personal. (You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.)
But when someone does awaken, they can be a huge benefit, or huge detriment, and you cannot always tell in advance which they will be. Hanging them all out to dry in advance merely reduces the chances that you form a relationship that might save your life or that of a loved one. The flip side of that coin is that, still suspending judgment, we all need to discriminate wisely. Judgment in advance does not, cannot, serve that purpose.
For number 1, I would tell that person that there is precedent in the nation for economic collapse. I would ask them what the Great Depression was if not a collapse.
For number 44, I would counter that getting out of debt is a good way to prep, if the goal is to get out of debt quickly. I paid off my house in seven years from the point of refinance, ten years from the time I bought it. Getting rid of that debt was part of my prepping, in that once the bank note is cleared, there was no worry of losing my home to a bank. While I was paying off the house, I did spend some money on preps, just not near as much as I have since the house note was paid off.
Most of the excuses in this list come from plain stupidity.
Last year when we had the blackout that affected all of San Diego County we started our standby generator, cooked dinner and watched the news. It showed all these people crowding stores buying water and food. Women crying trying to get in the store, scared kids and dad’s with that deer in the headlight look.
Most of these people are suffering from the “normalcy bias”. They think things will always be normal. Sure some ups and downs but not total collapse. They cannot fathom or understand the high percentage chance it will happen in the next couple years.
Look at Greece, Italy, Spain and the UK. Look at the turmoil in the Middle East.
But hey all is good..Facebook had an IPO and lots of insiders made money. The final show of American Idol is coming. The unemployment is going down…thanks to all those people that used up their UI…so now they aren’t looking so we down count them.

Here is a sad one I heard from my brother. I have type 1 diabetes, I only need to be prepared for about 3 months. That was one that I couldn’t argue. When the insulin runs out…..
There are natural methods of diabetes reversal, at the very least he could likely reduce it to a lower level. look into acupuncture, and extreme diet change. It can be done, but mainstream med will not tell you.
Many people believe that Cinnamon and Chromium Picolinate have moderate positive effects for diabetics. I always pack on 10 pounds immediately if I forget to take it for a few days. CP is cheap and I believe anything over about 500mcg is unnecessary.
There is NO CURE or help for Type I diabetes. In Type I the pancreas, more specifically the Islets of Langerhans do NOT function. Therefore the body produces no insulin and is unable to burn sugar with disastrous, fatal effect on the body.
Type II’s can be helped with diet, exercise and some supplements. However, it takes real dedication to changing your diet, committing to exercise and finding the supplements that work for you through trial and error. No easy task for most people.
Research “Fenugreek” and tell him to talk to his doctor about combining the two for now. It can reduce dosage and dependance on insulin. He will need some extra water to go with it, but that would be easier to find than insulin. I have known people who have reversed diabetes and gotten off insulin by making changes. Good luck!

One excuse — more of a reaction … actually, more a case of denial — that I have run into is from the pharm-dependent folks. I have actually been accused of being heartless, of actually desiring someone’s death, by merely pointing out that with a collapse, those drugs will be going away.
I agree that it is critical for those folks to dig in and learn how their particular malady can be helped or even cured through natural herbs and medicinals. Just don’t let Pfizer or the FDA catch you doing it.
The main reason for not prepping, that I hear, is; “I don’t have the time”. That’s because they have been on the treadmill of fast living, way too long. I want to go back to the days I spent with my Grandparents on my mother’s side. They grew up poor. After getting married they bought a little piece of mountain land for about a dollar an acre (60 acres), with a good spring and creek. They built a house with timber they logged and had sawmilled from their land. They had electricity for lights, etc., but no water heater or indoor plumbing until the mid 60’s when they drilled a well and installed a pump with a water line for inside plumbing only, to a kitchen sink. They grew mostly what they ate and canned or dried and smoked. They lived on about 100.0 dollars per month for necessities and chicken feed. They never went without and survived just fine.

We have been told about the “season”. We have been told to learn the parable of the “fig tree”. We are not to know the exact hour or day, for a reason. But all the signs and times are adding up at an exponential rate and the exponential curve will only become more prevalent in the days and months ahead. To not believe these statements is believing that we as humans will be able to turn things around on our own. It ain’t happening; because, we, as humans, have allowed evil and worldly lust to take us to a point of no return. Personal Prepping, on a mental,spiritual, and physical level is the only way we can have peace and peace of mind. Our Heavenly Father didn’t promise us it would always be a “piece of cake” living in the world; but, He did promise us, thru His Son, He would always be with us every step of the way. Each and every adult has to decide which way they are going with.

God is my provider too: He provided me with warnings and the common sense to do something about it. I think the ones who are living in fear are the ones who can’t face reality to be able to deal with it and prepare. They would rather deny reality and project their fear onto others as a defense mechanism.

I feel a strong call to prepare as well, and it kicked in like a boot to my backside, or like the little comic of the lightbulb flashing on over my head. I think many people on this site have heard that clarion call.
I don’t necessarily think it’s the end times–who is to know? But I do know that, throughout history, there have been terrible collapses–centuries’ worth of horrors that were not, at all, the end times. So I prepare a little liferaft for my family as best as I can.

As for the “End Times” stuff,as I understand the Scriptures,Christians should be “prepped” for the time.No matter if it arrives in their lifetime or not.And that includes having a personal “stash” for when things get dicey(like we’re not almost there already!).I even think I’ll get some serious personal protection for my family.Try to rape/kill my family and you’ll have to fight to the death for the privilege.I’ve given up on most of the stuff above(50 things).My most precious wealth no matter what,is my relationship with my Creator.I work on improving that “serious prepper” item everyday.I also try to offer the same strong hope to others(not so much so with ” material prepping” as we think of it here,one thing at a time!)Some listen,many scoff(sound familiar?),Some deride my faith as “unscientific” and “outdated”.I DO know the Scriptures warn that the times just before Judgment Day are going to be one hot mess(kinda like now don’t ya think?).It doesn’t matter anymore who’s in office,Who runs the banking system or what corporation ruins our water/air/food,etc.The TOTAL system is FUBAR beyond repair.World leaders lurch from one crisis to another without any solutions in sight.The Scriptures however, gave us a “early warning sign” a long time ago.They also warn us:”Unless those days were cut short no flesh would be saved”.Sounds like things WILL be truly awful.Yet,thru God’s saving grace towards people of faith he will cut short those days.Doesn’t matter when such “End Times” arrive,what really matters is how YOU grow in your relationship with your maker.I have faith if God could resurrect J.C. back to life,then trying to emulate his example(J.C.)might make it possible that no matter what happens(death included)I will be allowed into that promised Kingdom of his.I try to warn folks that “difficult times hard to deal with will be here” and try to offer them the same eternal hope.But I also remember that it was only Noah and his immediate family who put faith in the warning,tried to warn their fellow men of the impending deluge,BUILT the Ark as instructed AND gathered the things necessary to SURVIVE.It was that unshakable faith that saved them when God destroyed the lawless and ungodly back then.I can only hope things don’t get as bad in our time.But should it become so,I’ll be ready.We’ll all get to find out soon I suspect.

Most people don’t see the need for it. People who are working and aren’t worried about losing their jobs don’t think the economy is that bad. It’s not about making excuses. They remain unconvinced about the necessity.
It’s the selfish “I’m alright Jack” mentality.
The worst offenders I noted even as a kid are often regular Church goers of the solidly middle-class variety.
Until “it” happens to them – job loss, bereavement, abandonment and disability being the most everyday examples. The second “it” happens to them, you see the hand outstretched in expectation of both alms and compassion that they previously denied others.
It’s a very common, and dangerous Karmic trap.

My excuse is 2008 was the crisis, we are now in the recovery.
Now, are things going to get worse(and much worse in Europe), yes; but you will notice that every country that gets in further economic trouble is looking to the US dollar.
The US is still the best thing around and its not about to crumble into nothing and China is not going to take over; their real estate bubble is about to come crashing down on them and its going to set them back years.
We are in a deleveraging period that started in 2007 and will last probably another 10 years. During that time, wages will be stagnant and recoveries will be non-existant but the US will not crumble.
Only exception to my theory would be something like an EMP attack, but that has been an issue for years. you either have to live the rest of your life as a prepper or just accept that things can happen.
Ummmmmm…. no. Every day another country drops the Federal Reserve Note and starts trading internationally with gold, oil, commodities, or alternative currencies. The FRN is circling the drain, as the is New World Order that depends on it. Mass arrests and a USSR-style dissolution are coming to the U.S. before the end of this year. Freedom will ring and gold/silver/commodity-backed Treasury Notes will return. The future of mankind is bright once we shed this spirit-killing debt-based economy and move to an equity and resource based economy. If I’m wrong, I’ll be the first to admit it and will happily jump onboard with the bunker-dwelling doom-and-gloomers that see to dominate here.
The Federal Reserve has printed trillions of bogus dollars. The rest of the world is making plans to eliminate the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. It’s only a matter of time before the dollar loses 90% or more of its value. There’s ample evidence that the government is preparing for martial law.

The truly “dedicated” non-prepper is one that totally indulges into their own pleasures of the moment. The truly “dedicated” non-prepper will never change and start to put away for tomorrow as they ONLY know one word, TODAY. The “dedicated” non-prepper is ONLY interested in taking what is available at reach and will not put any effort into storing what they or there families need. Not all non-preppers are this way (just the DEDICATED ONES), and some can definitely wake up and save themselves and their families.
Some individuals though it is totally hopeless, and these individuals will end up statisitics in some future history book. The “dedicated” non-prepper will always depend on Walmart and others to bring them food and ALL their other necessities, and just cannot even “force” themselves to preapre for any type of emergency because it is their “NATURE”.
This article should have been titled “Why it’s a waste of time trying to convince people to prepare.”

I’ve been in many places, but I’ve never been in Cahoots.
Apparently, you can’t go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.
I’ve also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.
I have, however, been in Sane. They don’t have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work. I live close so it’s a short drive.
I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I’m not too much on physical activity anymore.
I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.
I’ve been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.
Sometimes I’m in Capable, and I go there more often as I’m getting older.
One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!
And, sometimes I think I am in Vincible but life shows me I am not.
People keep telling me I’m in Denial but I’m positive I’ve never been there before!
I have been in Deepshit many times; the older I get, the easier it is to get there. I actually kind of enjoy it there.
So far, I HAVEN’T been in Continent; but my travel agent says I’ll be going soon.

Rapture fact or Fallacy

Those who believe in a Pre-tribulation rapture have succumbed to a deluding influence and will most likely suffer the same fate as Chinese believers expecting to get raptured out of here before things got bad.

The pre-trib Rapture is what the Bible teaches and it’s what the early church believed. I believe we’ll see a complete economic collapse first. That will cause enough chaos to lead to the one-world government prophesied in Revelation. The Rapture will happen after that.
Jesus comes back twice. He comes like a thief to take His church. He comes back again at the end of the tribulation. At the end of the 3 and 1/2 year period when everyone is expecting him. Those two events are contradictory. They can’t happen at the same time.
(Rev 3:3 NIV) Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

If you can lay out pre-trib rapture scripturally without conjecture, speculation, and convolution; I’d like to see it.

Barn Cat, I believed in a pre-trib rapture for most of my adult life. When I got serious about biblical truths I prayed for “the truth”. I got the truth and it doesn’t include a pre-trib rapture. There will be a “change”, from flesh, into spirit bodies; however, that does not happen until Christ returns on a white horse. He only comes once. No big secret event. Every eye shall see. It happens “after” the tribulation. At that time, every person alive will automatically, at the twinkling of an eye, be changed. The good, bad, and the ugly. The problem with the teaching of, and believing of a pre-trib change is that the antichrist will come on the scene first, claiming to be Christ.
One of the most important items is a very low profile. Unless I can certain I can trust the other party, I am NOT going to tell them I am making plans and preparations for when the SHTF (in whatever form it comes in). I have a “cover story” for any thing I buy. I am getting ready for hunting season, a big family reunion, gifts for the kids who just happen to like old coins, tools ect, going to take that long camping trip to a state park. The thing I want any one to know is that I am a prepper, and draw attention to myself. I happen to live in a very liberal state and metro area, so I am not going to waste my time talking to idiots who still have their Obama 08 bumper stickers on their cars. They are doomed.
What’s worse are the people who have “Obama 2012” bumper stickers. You have to wonder about their level of intelligence.

I can remember when Manos said that he and his family were prepping. I believe he said (please correct me if I am wrong) that he moved his family to the country and was growing his own food.
Manos is the poster child for prepping, in my opinion. He was prepared well before the bank runs.

There was a time when I fell into several of those categories, so I don’t judge or criticize. I woke up and have begun to prep, with still a very long way to go. All I can do with my family is continue to encourage and help. I actually think that my wife is beginning, at least in small steps, to get on board. My 9 year old is with me 100%. looking up
Had a fellow Christian acquaintance inform me that hoarding food goes against the Bible. Said the Bible is very clear that it’s a sin. What??? Wasn’t Noah the original prepper? Anyone who has read the book of Proverbs can see many reasons to prepare. So, I said, could you please direct me to the passage that says storing food is a sin, he said he would…tick, tock, tick, tock…yawn…still waiting……..
