If you want to see gun control in action, just go to inner city Chicago and witness the worst scenes of violence in the entire country.
The Gun Grabbers Just Can’t Let Go of This Ridiculous Argument

You have to give the gun grabbers credit where credit is due. They sure make a pretty compelling argument. Every country in the world that has strict gun ownership laws, also has lower crime rates when compared to countries with loose gun laws. And most importantly, mass killings are just about unheard of and murder rates are far lower in these places.
Oh sorry. I’m afraid I misspoke. These countries rarely have mass shootings and the number of gun crimes is also quite low.
People who support gun control love to make the same lame argument. It’s an argument that defies all logic, and somehow it just won’t die. After every mass shooting, they love to present some statistic that shows mass shootings are rare or nonexistent in countries with strict gun laws, or that gun crimes are also few and far between in those places. These statistics are more often than not, absolutely correct. They’re also completely irrelevant.
Isn’t the overall murder rate far more relevant than the number of murders committed with firearms? Not to the gun grabbers. I can only guess why they won’t let this argument die. Either they have some kind of mental deficiency, or they are willfully ignorant of these statistics, because it would shatter their world view. They simply refuse to see the bigger picture.
The latest iteration of this argument comes from several researchers who sifted through 130 gun control studies from 10 different countries, to see what effect these laws had on the number of gun related crimes. Here’s what they found:
So what do Santaella-Tenorio et al. conclude? First, and most importantly, that gun violence declined after countries pass a raft of gun laws at the same time: “The simultaneous implementation of laws targeting multiple firearms restrictions is associated with reductions in firearm deaths,” the study finds.
This finding doesn’t highlight one specific law, like an assault weapon ban, in isolation. There were “so many different kinds of laws,” Santaella-Tenorio explains, that it was hard to make good international comparisons on every specific kind of gun restriction.
Rather, countries passed big packages of gun laws, which overhauled the nation’s firearm code fairly broadly, which all tended to share similar features. According to Santaella-Tenorio, they generally included:
- Banning “weapons that are actually very powerful,” like automatic weapons.
- “They all implemented background checks.”
- “They all required permits and licenses for purchasing guns.”
South Africa’s comprehensive Firearm Control Act, passed in 2000, contained all these measures. One study found that firearm homicides in five major South African cities decreased by 13.6 percent per year for the next five years. “Reductions in nonfirearm homicides were also observed,” Santaella-Tenorio et al. note, “although not as pronounced as the ones observed for firearm homicides.”
Austria’s 1997 firearm law, similarly, required background checks, limited access to powerful firearms, and imposed rules about how gun owners had to store their guns. Santaella-Tenorio reviewed two studies on Austria’s 1997 law, both of which found evidence that the law had reduced deaths. According to one of them, firearm homicides went down by 4.8 percent, while suicides went down by 9.9 percent.
Australia and South Africa seem to be their best examples. The funny thing about those countries, is that while the research shows that gun deaths did indeed decline, the overall murder rate also declined. This fact comes with a few caveats however.
Take a look at the historical murder rates for both of those countries. In South Africa for instance, the murder rate really did decline after they instituted strict gun control laws. However, the murder rate was already falling for at least 5 years before the year 2000 (that’s as far back as that data goes) and it continues to decline to this very day despite no new legislation. And in Australia, the overall murder rate has also declined, but not until 8 years had passed since they started rounding up all the guns.
In other words, there is a strong correlation between gun laws and gun deaths, but almost no correlation between gun laws and the overall murder rate. Admittedly, it’s also a fact that many pro-gun advocates would also prefer to ignore.
What nobody wants to admit, is that we don’t really know what drives crime rates. In the US for instance, the national crime rate has been falling consistently for more than two decades, and nobody can figure out why. I’ve heard all kinds of theories to explain this, including higher incarceration rates, lower lead levels in the water, increased police presence, an aging population, roe vs wade, and even the proliferation of the internet and video games. None of them have been able to hold up to scrutiny, and it seems that the number of guns on our streets isn’t a factor either.
The truth is, the real drivers of crime are incredibly murky. The only thing we know for sure is that when the economy falls apart, crime often increases, but only most of the time. Crime rates continued to decrease in the US even during the Great Recession.
And perhaps that is why this argument that the gun grabbers are always trying to make, is so stupid. Like everyone else, they desperately want to find a single simplistic cause for all the murders that happen; a cause that fits their world view. But in the real world there isn’t just one reason, and if there were, it certainly wouldn’t be guns since there isn’t any convincing data.
Remember that the next time the gun grabbers go on about “decreasing gun murder rates.” What they’re really saying is, “give up your rights, even though it won’t benefit you or your community in any way.”

After two centuries and a bit of American private ownership of arms, you’d think we’d have this all hashed out by now. It seems the same so-called “elites” who’ve been meddling with our law, our rights and the very structure of this country from the beginning are getting anxious – it’s really a lot harder to take over a country of free people if they’re armed. Yes, it is (or was) possible to flunk kindergarten. Unlike when we went to school, learning what is required to pass is a little more than knowing how to color. Now kids need to be able to read, do simple math and be able to write and spell simple words. My granddaughter is 19 and still in HS because she flunked kindergarten due to “not being socially ready”. Whatever that meant. I think the “no child left behind” act put a stop to flunking kids. The answer to a good education for the future is to homeschool if you’re able.

I actually know two people that failed kindergarten. Both of them for essentially the same reason. Late December births. At the early stages of development the children and their physical and emotional statuses change rather quickly,(parents think of how many shoes you bought per year), and their teachers felt that the child in question should be kept back and repeat. Failing kindergarten is not a labeling that the child will always be a paste eater just that they are not ready. Now when you talk about later years then you might want to keep gallon jugs of paste handy in your preps.

We had a kid in class that kept eating his crayons.
Another kid kept pissing his pants all the time.
And yet another, that was always puking in the floor. The other kids finally wised up and gave the puking and pissing kids a wider birth. Nothing spells, “change those school clothes when you get home”, more than the smell of those soaked in piss and puke.

I have never heard of failing kindergarten… any teachers out there?
Children can be asked to repeat kindergarten and it may happen more often than you’d expect. For better or worse, one of the consequences of a lot of this new standardized testing is that kids are asked to do more at an earlier age. But the defining factor is if the child were very trying on the teacher and causing a lot of interruptions in other students learning
I believe today that most children attend preschool before coming to kindergarten so kindergarten is not thought of as a child’s first exposure to school. What teachers and administrators are acutely aware of is students that have not had that mental maturity switch flipped to positive or the child is thought to be ADHD/ODD. These students can take up an inordinate amount of a 1st grade teacher’s class time thus degrading the entire classroom experience for the other kids.
In other cases parents are opposed to medicating a child that has ADHD and ODD at that early age. Many family physicians believe in not medicating or don’t do it unless absolutely necessary. Thus they choose to place the child back a year in kindergarten to see if they calm down some and progress.

I have been reading about endocrine disrupters in pesticides and one result is ADHD. What goes around comes around and our children are already paying the price. I don’t know if you reduce their exposure whether it helps.

I believe there are many children who are thought to be ADHD and are actually exhibiting reactions to food dyes and chemicals in processed “food” they are consuming.
When I worked as a substitute teacher in special education, I met children who had been removed from regular classrooms due to their unruly behavior. One excellent teacher would request that a doctor test each child for sensitivity to food additives, food allergies, etc. She recommended that the parents remove processed food, food dyes, sometimes certain foods, etc. from the family diet.
You would be AMAZED at the change in the behavior of these children in less than a month.

As a former kindergarten teacher, it is possible for a child to need to repeat kindergarten.
Most children start kindergarten at age four to age six.
Some children enter kindergarten having attended preschool, already knowing their alphabet and numbers, letter sounds, can count and ready to advance. Other children start kindergarten and have not been exposed to any of this.
The need to repeat kindergarten is often due to readiness and maturity.
I was a hyper child from what my parents/grandparents told me and from what I remember prior to age five.
i do remember the old worn out books that my granny used to read to me as a three and four year old. I cut my teeth on the Dick and Jane, Sally and Spot books of the day, that was left from earlier kids.
By those 1st grade level books, my granny had taught me to read a pretty good while before kindergarten. She was an avid Bible reader and had a job taking care of a Judge’s son that was in an iron lung. I spent many days at the house where he lived and would help granny by sitting with him and turning the pages of the bible or some novel as he lay there and read. he sometimes read out loud to me, and in later years he was moved into our church where he preached a sermon. Granny would read to him as i followed the words in the books and magazines.
I got to where i could read most sentences in the bible because of spending so much time with granny and my other grandparents that could barely read. When they ( the other grandparents) realized i knew more words than they did, i was asked to read the bible to them every night that i was visiting. When I returned to my house next door to the granny that read, she would help me with the difficult words I was trying to learn.
When i started school, already reading beyond 1st and 2nd grade level, they held me back because I was too advanced and they would not allow me to skip kindergarten. I guess it was an embarrassment to the Country Club kids that I read. We moved, and the next year i was admitted to first grade. Remember, this was early sixties in hick city, USA. Teachers were very different than they are today.
Bored with their easy reading books, I acted up and was always getting punished for being hyper, instead of allowing me to read, write, and arithmetic, at a higher level. I never felt as if i “fit in”, at school. later in High school, i worked a full time job, hardly ever studied and still made all As and Bs.
There was one girl in fourth grade that was as smart or actually smarter, than myself. We sat together and always were the first two to finish our tests. She fell hard for me and was still trying to get my attention in eighth grade. She was sweet, wore glasses, skinny as a rail, and her name was Pandora. Sad thing was that she was just plain ugly and shy, but I was always nice to her anyway. In high school she was eat up with acne, and still a bone rack. Lord bless her skinny ass.

Just because this is harsh doesn’t mean that it is not true but many of the death rates are suicide. Suicide is still considered homicide. So when a person blows their own head off that counts too in their statistics. Take the gun away and yes the rate does go down in proportion to what is suicides, but, suicide rates remain the same. The method only changes.

A person was convicted of misdemeanor family violence. He slapped his wife. A crime punishable by a max of $500 fine, no jail time.
Because it was domestic violence the person lost the right to own a firearm. He was subsequently convicted of the federal law making it illegal to own a firearm after a family violence conviction.
Thomas said, “What other laws can be violated to make a person loose a civil right?”
The sad fact is that eventually, if you get a speeding ticket, you will loose the right to own a firearm.
If civil rights can be legislated away, then you have no civil rights.

Now years later, because of police overreach during Katrina, we find not only were these officers sued and prosecuted, many states have enacted laws to specifically to protect citizen gun rights during disasters, even if a state of emergency exists, and even from the federal government.
George Bush signed the “Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act” that became Public Law 109-295 sec 706 and 42 USC 5207. These are laws prohibiting the seizure of firearms during an/or after a natural disaster.
This federal law bites seriously into any plan or attempts by FED’s to use a “state of emergency” as a basis to confiscate citizen firearms.
In retrospect, I count this as huge progress. I wonder if people had gotten into shootouts with police over their guns, if these new laws that protect everyone would exist now?

No, I don’t think it’s from Fukushima. Seriously, the ozone layer has been dropped (or so I’ve read) to a very small fraction of what it was, apparently being the reason for as much of the nano-AL as they’ve been using. Seems it was getting in the way of some electronic mind-control and other things, so the Shadow Government got rid of as much of it as they were able. That means our UV protection is mostly shot now. I’ve also read that while the beach nearest the water is getting uncomfortably radioactive, it’s not as bad as I would have expected. I’ve not checked on it in over a year though. Anyway, apparently a LOT of the damage to our forests is due to the damaged ozone layer, and the bark is literally being cooked off the trees! My poor willow has the bark just peeling off in strips. It’s dead now. It was my wedding present to my late wife. I brought it home in the back of my Jeep Cherokee (now gone). The tree was about 35 feet or so tall. Damn them anyway!

Interesting – I’m from Flour Bluff (Corpus Christi), Texas! Small world we have here… Anyhow, I think the radioactive particles that DID make it to the Oregon coast got here via water through the Bering Strait, a lot of it riding futons. There were radioactive bits and pieces, furniture and so on up on the beaches, I understand. I don’t know the air currents, but if I remember right any airborne particles would have hit the jet stream at a 90 degree angle, assuming the cold air in Alaska didn’t pull it all down there. Lessee – that would put ’em either in Putin’s front yard or in Michigan… I think. *S* I WISH I had a Geiger counter! Couldn’t put a down-payment on a free meal most of the time, though.

Our second amendment rights to have guns and bear arms is not stated to protect against robbers, intruders, kidnappers,hunting and personal assault, it is for a citizens to be a well armed militia to prevent a hostile government from taking away our rights given us in the constitution!
What government is trying to do violates that constitution, for our ownership of arms shall NOT be infringed.
IF the government wanted to take away that right, they would have to put an amendment in the constitution through a constitutional convention with ratification from the states…And that will never happen, so they nit-pick a little at a time to erode those rights, and we have to stand up for those rights.

I’d like to point out that the Constitution does NOT “give us” ANY Rights! We’re BORN with those Rights, and they come from our Creator! The Constitution NAMES them – call it a reminder – but we come into this world with those and other Rights not named, but ours nonetheless just as surely. Those who try to take any of our Rights away are breaking both the laws of God AND of man, and another Right we have the Right to defend ourselves, our loved ones and our property against ANYONE who tries to take them away from us without our consent. If they alter the Constitution it makes NO DIFFERENCE in our Rights. The Constitution reminds US of what some of our more important Rights are, but they can’t change that document and thereby change what Rights are mine any more than they can change my birth certificate and change the color of my eyes with that change. Hazel they were, hazel they remain no matter what any document may state to the contrary.
Remember that: if someone wants to change what our rights under God are, they’ll have to apply to the Author of those rights Who gave them to us!

I don’t think the author of this article gets it. The libs and TPTB want you to believe gun control is about crime. Sure, they use the argument of crime but in reality it is about disarmament of the American people so there remains absolutely no challenges to their goal of total control. In high school I studied civics, POD, Amer. gov’t, etc. What is taught of how things works is not at all how things works. In reality, those in “public service” are not the noble, or honorable, or selfless individuals that students are taught. Public good is a lie. Justice is for those who do not have a million dollars.
