They are typical terms that one might have thought applied to the Bush Administration, or the Clinton and Obama presidencies. But already, these terms can be safely applied to Trump’s administration, and it hasn’t even officially begun yet.
It took mere minutes after the election results indicated Trump’s win for The Donald, in his victory speech, to back off of any promises, hints or even suggestions of prosecuting Hillary Clinton (he doesn’t want to hurt them, they are good people)– after campaigning heavily on the notion. And now, after weeks of picking his cabinet appointments, staff and advisors, that Newt Gingrich, a top Trump advisor, admitted that President-elect Trump has officially backed off his other campaign slogan – “Drain the Swamp.”
After choosing Gary Cohn (National Economic Council) and Steven Mnuchin (Treasury Secretary), both from the Goldman Sachs pool, as well as other Wall Street bankers, for top positions in his cabinet – Trump is reportedly officially ditching the corny slogan “drain the swamp.” It makes sense, as it is wholly without substance, and quite disingenuous… as Krieger has written before: “There will be swamp!”

Not that he ever wanted to, but here’s Newt Gingrich admitting what many of us already knew regarding Donald Trump’s fake populism.
Politico reports:
President-elect Donald Trump campaigned on a promise to “drain the swamp” in Washington of corruption, but now that he’s preparing to move into the White House, Newt Gingrich said the Manhattan real estate mogul is looking to distance himself from that message.
“I’m told he now just disclaims that. He now says it was cute, but he doesn’t want to use it anymore,” the former House Speaker and close Trump adviser said of the “drain the swamp” message in an NPR interview published Wednesday morning.
Trump’s Cabinet and other high-level appointments seem to have deviated somewhat from his “drain the swamp” message. After attacking Democrat Hillary Clinton regularly throughout the campaign for being too close to Wall Street banks, Trump has put three former Goldman Sachs executives in prominent White House positions, including Steven Mnuchin as treasury secretary, Steve Bannon as chief White House strategist and Gary Cohn as the director of the National Economic Council.

As Anthony Scaramucci, a hedge fund manager and top adviser to Trump, as well as a former Goldman Sachs banker himself, put it Thursday: “I think the cabal against the bankers is over.”
Indeed, as we all know, U.S. government economic policy has been essentially handed over to Goldman Sachs during this transition period. Must be a reward for its most recent settlement for rigging yet another market.
Reuters reports:
Goldman Sachs Group Inc will pay a $120 million penalty to resolve civil charges that it attempted to manipulate a global benchmark for interest rate products known on Wall Street as “ISDAFIX,” U.S. derivatives regulators said Wednesday.
The case against Goldman Sachs, brought by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, was the latest in a series of broad investigations into manipulation by big banks of a variety of global benchmark rates.
To date, the CFTC has imposed penalties of over $5.2 billion stemming from these probes, which include Libor and Euribor, foreign exchange benchmarks, and the U.S. Dollar International Swaps and Derivatives Association Fix, or USD ISDAFIX.
A number of banks have also resolved parallel criminal charges related to the manipulation of various global benchmarks.
Goldman Sachs, which was also accused by the CFTC of making false reports on the benchmark rate, will settle the case without admitting or denying the charges.
Penalties don’t change the behavior of white collar criminals. Jail sentences would, but we don’t see any of that when it comes to bank execs.

Told ya so what G? This article missed the entire premise of what Trump is all about. Sure during the Campaign, Trump needed to call out all the problems with the Government, including he will fix it by draining the swamp. But guess What, Trump won the election, and is now the President of all these Criminals, and will inherit this mess.
So now, Trump has to shift gears, and can’t daily keep tweeting he’s declaring war on the very Government and people he is taking over. Threatening everybody they are going to get the hatchet is not a leader. Only a FOOL would assume so. It may play well for TV but not in reality.
So pull your panties out of your crotch and take breath. Trump said exactly, that you don’t telegraph your attacks in advance to the enemy, you just do it on your watch. So look for Trump to just start unrolling out his pink slips via each new cabinet member in his admin after Jan 20th.

And who is Gingrich anyway, A failed Speaker of the House that was removed and fined like a million dollars in sanctions, that he had to borrow from Bob Dole. And probably rejected by Trump for any position in his new Admin, so now he is another snowflake crybaby noise maker.

I agree you need someone with that ‘inside knowledge’ in order to achieve a certain goal. WHO could he pick to head State that would have enough experience, gravitasse, and presence to tackle what has to be the nastiest, most entrenched bureaucracy in the world??? It would take a guy of Tillerson’s stature. Romney couldn’t do it — he needs to be liked too much, he’s a ‘pleaser’ which makes him too weak to take on these vipers… Tillerson, however, could cut through the Kudzu with ease.
So, the real question is, WHOSE SIDE IS TILLERSON ON??? And when I listen to every speech or presentation I can find on the guy, one thing stands out. Rex Tillerson has a SOUL.
And I think that says more about what Trump has assembled than anything else. These appointments ARE of those with “insider” characteristics. Trump needs their competence. But I also think Trump is a cutthroat SOB in his own rite. And as long as he can manage these people, he can control their results. And I do think he’s sharp enough to figure out how to keep them in check. Let’s NOT FORGET who and what he cut through like a hot knife through butter to get where he is. To underestimate him is a fool’s errand.

This should prove interesting for his coming transition into the White House, as a new report suggests the New York real estate mogul intends on maintaining his own private security force while in office — despite the presence of the U.S. Secret Service.
According to Politico, the president-elect first broke tradition with “all modern presidents and presidents-elect” by continuing to employ his own private security firm following his election night victory. What’s more, Trump plans on keeping “at least some members of the team” on hand following his forming administration’s official transition into the White House on Friday, January 20, 2017.

CHICAGO – Illinois lost 114,144 residents to other states from July 2015 to July 2016, causing Illinois to suffer more population loss than any other state in the nation, new data from the U.S. Census Bureau showed Tuesday morning. The massive exodus to other states caused Illinois’ overall population to decline by 37,508 people, the U.S. Census reported.
“Picture the entire city of Peoria packing up and moving across state lines – that’s how severe Illinois’ out-migration was over the last year,” said Michael Lucci, vice president of policy at the Illinois Policy Institute.
Lucci attributed the high number of moves to other states to the lack of legislature reforms that would improve the state’s business climate. “People are leaving Illinois at record rates. They’re tired of watching the state’s pension debt climb as lawmakers ignore the problem. They’re tired of an expensive workers’ compensation system, and a dangerously ill economic climate. It’s time for lawmakers to make massive reforms and send a strong signal that the direction of Illinois is changing,” Lucci said.
Illinois is the only Midwestern state that experienced population loss in 2016, for the third year in a row…”Countless reports find residents fleeing Illinois for states with with lower taxes and better job opportunities,” a release said. “Heavy population losses on Census migration reports have always been followed by IRS migration reports showing the people who left took substantial earning power with them. The most recent IRS data show that Illinois loses $32,000 of taxable income every 5 minutes, on net.
In a column posted last week, Trump economic adviser Stephen Moore suggested Illinois is among the “blue states” that voted for Hillary Clinton and are losing population annually. “They are the loser states. They are all progressive. High taxes rates. High welfare benefits. Heavy regulation. Environmental extremism. Super minimum wages. Most outlaw energy drilling,” he wrote in an op-ed published in theWashington Times.
“The whole left-wing playbook is on display in the Hillary states. And people are leaving in droves. Day after day, they are being bled to death. So much for liberalism creating a worker’s paradise,” he wrote.
