Swiss Firm Introduces Divisible Gold Card For “A Scary New World”

    As uncertainty about the stability of the global economy spreads and investors look for ways to diversify their assets, precious metals companies are looking for ways to cater to those who are seeking a safe haven in assets like gold and silver.

    Though often described as “the money of last resort,” one gripe from potential investors about owning gold is that it is costly, currently running around $1700 an ounce, and not feasible as an emergency exchange mechanism in the event of financial and economic catastrophe that may disrupt food supplies and the normal flow of commerce. The problem with one ounce gold coins, or even 1/10th of an ounce fractional coins, is that if you needed to buy a few loaves of bread, medicine, clothing or supplies in an emergency it would be difficult to do so with a gold coin as opposed to something like silver, which can be more easily traded for smaller value goods.

    Enter the “Combibar” Gold Card – designed for “a scary new world.”

    Introduced by Swiss precious metals firm Valcambi, the 50 gram (~ 1.6 Troy Ounces) card is fabricated with 99.9% fine gold and can easily be broken into 1 gram pieces and used as payment during an emergency. Each gram is worth approximately the same as an ounce of silver – about $34 – making it an almost perfect emergency barter item.

    For the preparedness minded, it’s a simple solution and one that fits right in your wallet, so you can always have “real money” with you wherever you go.

    According to Valcambi the Combibar divisible gold card should be available in the U.S. in late 2013.

    In the meantime, though some key officials at our central banks suggest gold is not real money, we strongly recommend diversifying assets into physical commodities that may include food, arable land, gold and silver, and learning new skills that can be traded for essential items should the system as we know it come crashing down.

      1. AGAIN….You can’t eat gold or silver

        • You can’t eat bullets either.

          • No, but the people who try to take your stuff can =)

            • Well said sir!

              • No we can’t eat gold, but you can use it to buy almost anything. It’s value is so well documented it shouldn’t be ignored just because it’s ” expensive” and some would argue its not. Example…what was the price of a 1000 rnds of 223 5 years ago? And Gold? Even today an ounce of gold can score you 3000 rnds of ammo.

                • no sorry ammo is way up 1000 rnds is about $800 to $900
                  maybe 2000 rounds close

                • Todd I did see an auction site sell a 1000 rnds of privi 223 for $800 a week after Newtown but that hype has already faded. I’ve seen 1k round cases of even better 223 for much less from private sellers already. Gold at $1650 today I think will get you 2,500 to 3,000 rounds today. Mind you it’s been a long time since Gold was down to the price of 1,000 rounds.

                  This companies 50 gram card is a terrific idea. I just wish they’d make a silver one for the poor folk like me.

                • I see on their web site they do produce a silver one. Sad it carries a $40 premium. I guess minting costs are high for these. At $40 diff I’d prefer another ounce of silver.

                • The key word in your statement Jim, is “today”. As a true prepper, I think in terms of “tomorrow” or the day the SHTF. The day SHTF in my book, is the day the dollar collapses entirely, the banks are under lock down (for the sake of safe deposit boxes) and martial law is invoked. I truly believe, in the event of martial law, all retail sales of guns and ammo will be prohibited and all precious metals ie; gold/silver will become the property of the Federal Gov./TPTB.

                  If anyone hasn’t prepared ahead with all their food/water supplies and weapons by that time, they most likely will be in a world of shit and have to be “beholding” to the FEDs/TPTB or commies handing out food.

                  We will “not” be beholding to them, nor be relying upon the gamble that a stockpile of gold/silver will pull us through. We are not idiots or so close minded to believe that there will not be some people bartering with/for gold/silver, so therefore; we do have some physical silver in the form of “old coins” that most people identify with, to use in a barter situation.

                • an ounce of gold wont buy any of mine,,not one round

                  snake

            • NIce! but true.

          • true, but a bullet can be used to take down some food

            • Providing your where the food is which will pretty rapidly get more and more scarce. Assuming some kind of commerce functions that gold will be really useful

              • You are of course forgetting Long Pork. And if it gets “That” bad this will be a meal that is the only thing left for many. Its happen before it will happen again.

                You might nit eat it. But would you serve it to your children to keep them from dieing of starvation. Anser it truthfully. Bet you won’t.

                • I knew there would be no honest answers.

                  If you are preparing for a True SHIF then you better actually know what you are preparing for.

            • They need to get to the back of the dam line

            • One question that has always bothered me concerning the Gov’ts buying of massive rounds of hollow points is: Why would a manufacturer fill the order knowing that hollow pts are banned for use in war and the only possible explanation of why the Gov’t would want them is to use them against the American public? Sure they’re making a big one time score in sales but in the long run they’re cutting their own throats, financially & maybe literally if all their other customers are dead and now they’re the problem.

              • one word..well two

                financial backers

                or investors

                or you could fall back on the oldy but goody

                Money Talks

                they dont care…although they sure could be short sighted..those bullets could be aimed at them in the near future..bet they didnt count on that eh?

                Doh!

                • Of course they’re short sighted…just like the German military when they helped Hitler seize total power during the “Night of the Long Knives”. They thought had eliminated their hated Brownshirt rivals, when instead they had allowed the rise of the Gestapo and the SS. How many of these officers were jailed, tortured and killed by the forces they had unleashed?

              • Hollow points are personal defense rounds, and when $$ is no object (like when someone else is buyin’ ’em), then you practice with them, too.
                That isn’t to say that they aren’t arming up for something, which I’m sure they are. The type of bullet in this case is really not that important.

              • You neglect to consider those in power who make the rules can change them as they see fit, and at will. “What Rules Of Engagement?” There is only one rule in war and that is there are none…

          • Whimsy for a year that promises to be challenging, Warren Zevon’s final public performance:
            Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner
            http://www.myspace.com/video/vid/11585041

          • A guy walks into an auto parts store says “I would like a wiper blade for my Yugo”. The man behind the counter says “sounds like a fair trade to me”.

        • You’re right, you can’t eat it. It will be useless in the middle of a collapse of the economy. However, just after people stop accepting dollars, there is likely to be a window where they will still accept PMs. And after things stabilize, PMs are going to be the most likely medium of exchange since straight bartering is so inefficient. So it doesn’t hurt to have some.

          Get your beans, bullets, and band-aids first. THEN it wouldn’t be a bad idea to use whatever you have left on some PMs.

          • This is the way to approach it.

            Solve the critical bits first, then get your metals.

            For most collapse scenarios, gold and silver are not exactly going to go out of style. The only time they’ll be refused is during the main die-off portion of collapse, when the value of food (among other things) will be too high to purchase. However, after a couple of years, PMs are liable to be the only form of money that is trusted (at least before anyone gets too creative with the counterfeiting).

            They’ll not only be useful in barter, but whatever monetary system arises (that you can trust!) will very likely buy PMs that they in turn use to back the new money (whatever that may be).

            • I take the “Robinson Crusoe” approach: get everything you can salvage off the shipwreck. Including the bags of gold and silver coins.

              Or as I like to put it, I invest in all the precious metals: gold, silver, brass, lead and steel

              • SOS……. ya forgot Copper @2.90 A LB. mADE A LOT OF $$ WITH THAT!!

                • I didn’t mention it here, but I do mention it in the book. You’re right – pure copper does count as a PM (though having too much of it will tend to debase the value locally.)

                  • Hey Odd Questioner Where do I go to get your book?

          • Incidentally, there’s one other reason that PMs have a use: it is a handy way to pay for skills and labor.

            Whether you’re the one providing the skills, or paying for it, you can get or provide a portable, easily-concealed means of payment that has a use later on.

            • Odd,

              I started reading your book late last night and all I can say is job well done Sir. Can’t wait to get my hard copy in.

              DPS

              • Thank you, kind sir. 🙂

                I’m still casting out lines and (well, odd) questions for later additions (also to be passed around for $0.00 online).

                Put a question out yesterday asking about religion, post-collapse. Just click on the name, go to “Blather”.

                I’m happy to take any and all corrections, suggestions, etc.

          • Well said Dante.

            I’ve never read anything like this but it seems to me there iwll be about 5 steps of collapse. This is my take on it. Please feel free to critque:

            1. Calm Before The Storm: CBTS – Everyone sits around looking at everyone else and gets ready to jump. (Days Weeks Months – who knows. The catalyst for #2 will strike suddenly without warning and within a few days you will have #2.)

            2. Primary Chaos. The breakdown. People running to the stores. Shelves emptying. Panic. Chaos. At this point forget about using PMs and forget about getting food. The only thing that will be important is a place to weather it and weapons to protect yourself. Safety is primary here. Its too late to prepare. I say for get PMs and food because safety is more at risk and you will be too harried to eat and nobody will accept anything. They will, however, shoot you dead for your bread. (Durantion: A few days to a week with a few days lead in and a few days lead out.)

            3. Veiled Chaos. This is where the initial chaos has retreated but people are still scared but its not a feeding frenzy like #2. The safety concern is still paramount. Things are still under tension and small chaotic bubbles will pop here and there. People are really scared and they are essentially trying to figure out what to do. (2 weeks to several months)

            4. The Migration. People start leaving the cities and shifting positions. College students head home by any means. Starving, unprepared city dwellers leave the city in search of food. Still a very dangerous time. Some trading may occur but safety is still a problem. People are still desperate. (1 month to several months, depending on weather and time of year and area of the planet.)

            5. Primary stabilization. Mass migration and travel has ceased. The preppers are taking hold. Now, commerce starts. Barter of items for silver/gold, silver/gold for items. Items for items, etc, etc, etc. Some food productions starts. Things start to stabilize. Honesty and integrity start to return to our society but we realize its never going to be like it was. At this point, people who bought and stored PMs will be wealthy and will be able to wisely use those resources and some skill to become even more wealthy.

            Hows that sound?

            • Net Ranger, all you have to do is look at Zimbabwe to verify how correct you are. People with goods to sell won’t accept the worthless cash but will happily accept PMs. A wonderful gift of geography has given Zimbabweans the opportunity to pan for gold which they now do in large numbers in order to buy the necessities of life. If you are not able bodied enough to do that, you need to be able to convince someone to do it for you. The baker will give you an amount of bread based on the gram weight of the gold dust you just pulled out of the river.

              People will ALWAYS have things of value they are willing to part with (animals, crops, houses, farms, etc.) and those with precious metals will be first in line to barter for these things. I want to thank those who say “you can’t eat gold” because they leave more for the rest of us. And if the S never hits TF, guess what – precious metals will still go up in value while the dollar drops.

              I have never heard an argument as compelling as the case for gold and silver.

            • At that point you would need to define wealth. The only recognizable forms would be property, equipment and PMs.

              But if you have a place to live, farm and survive, wealth is irrelevant. I guess those with large stores of PM’s could in theory live like kings by simply paying others to do their farming, prepare their meals, etc.

              But wealth as we know it today, fancy cars, big screen TV’s, etc. will be long gone, or at least the means to power them.

              Very good breakdown by the way.

              • >>But if you have a place to live, farm and survive, wealth is irrelevant.

                Wealth is never irrelevant. It has always been sought by man since the dawn of time. How you store it may be debated. But not wanting any measurable quantity of wealth b/c you have a farm? Hardly.

                If nothing else it would be something to leave my kids. But I suspect it would be useful in obtaining fuel, equipment, etc. including luxury items like chocolate or fabric, etc. No man is an island…

            • You forgot the part where UN troops arrive to help “stabilize”.

              • if “our real” US military gets one little wiff that our gub has called for mass un intervention there will be hell to pay.

                There will be no disarming of true American citizens…and they are beginning to figure it out.

            • NetRanger, I disagree with the migration scenario for the US. I do not believe The Masses will get their butts up to help themselves. There is no disaster in modern times to show/prove that there is a collective stamina or survival for the majority of city dwellers. Some will begin searching around the city — even traveling to the city edges — but the majority of the city dwellers will not. They will sit and wait for someone else to help them. Or they’ll grow paranoid and hunker down, some in the deep city crevasses and subway tunnels. Many of these people will become targets or sicken. By then, few will have the ability to migrate.

              People have been led to believe that everyone will flee the cities in search of food. It’s SHTF propaganda, that’s all — mass migration won’t happen in today’s world of disability and entitlement gimme-dats. Recall that many people are dependent upon on drugs, on welfare, won’t walk (or can’t), in poor health already, about 10% are mentally ill, etc. By the time they are literally starving, they’ll not have the sense or strength to move on and get out. Or they’ll already be diseased and dying.

              • I am not so sure of that. At Thanksgiving I presented a step by step financial collapse scenario and asked at each point what people would do. Most did nothing until credit cards stopped working and banks shut down. At that point these city dwellers would head for the hills (mountains), forests, island. Only one outside the city limits with a large fenced back yard and garden elected to hunker down where they were.

          • I agree with everything you have said Dante, except; “and after things stabilize”. In the “good book” i go by, things won’t ever stabilize until the end. The end of what? The end of the NWO system,the end of antichrist,the end of life in these flesh bodies and the end of this period of Heaven and Earth time frame. It will be marked by the entrance of Jesus Christ/Emmanuel(God with us). This will be the only time of “stabilization” on earth. The one thousand year time frame where all the evil ones of the NWO/TPTB/liberal-leftist are on a level playing field and their riches of gold and dollars can’t give them control over our lives any longer. They will become dust under our feet. Then comes the judgment and God will bring His Holy Throne down to Jerusalem to reign forever.

            Agree or not, it will happen as foretold. We are in the last days, the time of the “fig tree” and it is just around the corner. When the last big war breaks out in the middle east,(where a third of the population is killed), we begin the last roller coaster ride of life and the end of the scary shit will be in sight. We can count on it. Some of this generation will live to see it and some won’t. I really don’t have a preference because I know where my soul is heading to.

        • This just in, you can use it to buy stuff during hyperinflation. Or after the collapse you could use it to by property or other expensive items.

          • if you can’t defend it, you don’t own it and can’t buy it

          • During difficult times I believe our knowledge, skills and preps will sustain us. But, it will be our frame of mind, our faith and our will to survive that will make or break us.

            Here is a short story that reminds me of that mindset.

            Thankfulness in Tribulation
            By Samara
            “Dirty dishes filled the sink. My husband had just lost his job, the car broke down on his way home, I had no idea what to cook for dinner, and the baby was crying.
            So was I.

            It was one of those days when nothing seemed right. But in my little pile of pity as I sat in the middle of the floor with my son in my lap, God began to do a work in my heart. There were dishes in the sink, and they were only dirty because we had plenty of food to eat.

            While we didn’t know where our next check would come from, all our bills were up-to-date, and God had always been faithful before to meet our needs. Though not fully functional, we were wealthy enough to own a car – a luxury most of the rest of the world only dreams about.

            At least I had food to cook, heat to cook it with, and a table at which to eat it. Many people had lost a child, or were never able to have one, and would love to hold a baby, crying or not. Even my tears meant that I had enough water in my body to make them.

            Slowly, I realized how ungrateful I had been, and how full and bountiful my blessings truly were. As a smile came to my face, my son started giggling. After a prayer of repentance, and thanks, it was off to find a creative way to put a dinner on the table that would cheer my husband up.

            You might be tempted to think, “But you don’t understand what I am going through!” You are right, and you may be going through many trials. How about someone who was arrested for refusing to follow ungodly laws, stripped of all her possessions, and placed in a work camp to die with little or no food, and disease everywhere? To add insult to injury, her cramped quarters were filled with fleas!

            This was the situation that Corrie ten Boom related in her book The Hiding Place, written about her experience in Nazi Europe as she found herself in the Ravensbruck concentration camp. Her sister admonished her not to complain about the fleas, for surely they were part of God’s plan and they should be thankful for them.

            Can you imagine being thankful for fleas? But through prayer, they realized that the abundance of fleas meant the guards kept their distance, allowing the sisters to have Bible studies with the other prisoners unmolested.

            Paul (who also had his fair share of dank prisons) wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 to “give thanks in all circumstances.” So do we really believe in the Bible, or is it just an idea? If we believe, we need to learn to be thankful. So how do we apply this, even when we feel like we have too many lemons and not enough sugar to make lemonade?

            – Look for the obvious and hidden blessings.
            Sometimes we just need to think about the things we usually take for granted (friends, family, food, etc.) to realize how blessed we truly are. For those of us who live in the United States, we live in prosperity that most of the world cannot even imagine. But sometimes, we need to look deeper.

            Some of the things that seem like trials really show our blessing—like the dirty dishes. If we have a difficult business decision, it is because we have a business. If we stub our toe it is because we have legs and feet and are able to walk in the first place.

            – Pray for strength and courage.
            Only God knows our heart and whether we need correction or comfort. Go to Him and He will uncover the source of your thankless attitude and heal it at its root. In prayer we have the opportunity to seek out heaven and ask for back up.

            – Believe that God is in control – and loves you!
            Remember that you are never alone. We must master the Job spirit of “though he slay me, yet will I trust Him.” (Job 13:15) God loves you even more than you love yourself. He is working out His purpose in you and in the world. Both in the small crisis of our individual lives, and the coming fears and dangers of the future, God is there and will someday make all things new.

            – Focus on others.
            When we work toward bringing joy to those around us, our minds become less consumed with our own pain. When I smile, my baby smiles too. When I start thinking about caring for my husband, rather than my own perceived inadequacies, there is a goal and a purpose to my life.
            I would like to say that after one experience of this revelation I am able to always be thankful.

            The truth is that being thankful is a daily decision—not just on special days surrounded by food and family—but every day through the highs and the lows. As new challenges come my way, I have to again learn to look for everything good. In fact, the above story is one that has replayed in various forms several times.

            True thankfulness is work, but well worth it. It becomes a light that will lift up all those around you.”

              • Thankyou KY mom. I was a little bummed out because I jacked my one card in the recent rush to get an AR type rifle and mags and ammunition. I’ve got nothing to buy any PM’s but I’ve got nothing at all to complain about. I’ve got a job, a humble home, food, and my health. Thanks for putting things into a proper perspective.

                  Today, upon a bus, I saw a very beautiful woman and wished I were as
                  beautiful.
                  When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobble down the aisle.
                  She had one leg and used a crutch. But as she passed, she passed a
                  smile.
                  Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two legs; the world is mine.

                  I stopped to buy some candy. The lad who sold it had such charm.
                  I talked with him, he seemed so glad. If I were late, it’d do no harm.
                  And as I left, he said to me, “I thank you, you’ve been so kind.
                  It’s nice to talk with folks like you. You see,” he said, “I’m blind.”
                  Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two eyes; the world is mine.

                  Later while walking down the street, I saw a child I knew.
                  He stood and watched the others play, but he did not know what to do.
                  I stopped a moment and then I said, “Why don’t you join them dear?”
                  He looked ahead without a word. I forgot, he couldn’t hear.
                  Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two ears; the world is mine.

                  With feet to take me where I’d go..
                  With eyes to see the sunset’s glow.
                  With ears to hear what I’d know.
                  Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I’ve been blessed indeed, the

                  CC, you and your family are in my prayers with a prepper contact that tells us her husband with bladder cancer is in his last days.
                  Now, we have much to be thankful for and many to pray for.
                  May love be the light that guides us through the darkness.

              • @ KY MOM: Thanx for reminding me to count my Blessings…I haven’t posted in awhile as my hubby was rushed to hospital 3 days b4 Christmas, as he had to have emergency surgery on his bowel……they weren’t sure he would make it as he had been “self medicating” for some time (due to the pain, and refused to go see a Doctor!!!(I know someone here is going to say “you can’t fix stupid”…but it is what it is….

                He went through a terrible time for 10 days, but prayers are answered , as they tell me today that he pulled his “feeding tube” out, so they have decided to leave it out and start feeding him by hand…..he is no longer restrained……he has a long way to go as he didn’t even know he had surgery , and will find it hard to accept the “bag” that is now attached to him….(and cannot be reversed)…….

                I will visit him tomorrow, and yes, I still feel Blessed, as he is alive and believe he will come home eventually….sorry everyone to be off topic….take care, CC

                • Oh, CC – I’m so sorry for all that you have been through! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

                  ~ Daisy

                • CC..prayers sent

                • Canada Canuk,

                  May you find comfort and strength.

                • C.C.
                  I am so sorry to hear that, I will keep the both of you in my prayers. Stay Strong and take care.
                  Connie

                • @ CC .. …My thoughts and prayers are with you. Evidently God wanted him to stay with you a little longer so He sent you a Christmas gift of hubby getting help and getting on the road to recovery. Be thankful.

                • Canada Canuk

                  May GOD-speed your husbands recovery & may he bless your family too!

            • Thanks for that KYMom… always good to be reminded…

            • That is great! Thanks you for sharing it.

            • KY Mom,
              Thanks for that. Sometimes we need to be reminded of all that we have to be thankful for and no matter the circumstances there is always something to be thankful for.

        • Again, you can’t eat your credit card or 401K statement either.

          • I agree a 100%

          • Scott Motto: We are now retired and “eating or spending all we can” off our 401k, so any retirees out there need to do likewise and buy things you need now. Ammo is sold out in Wal Mart in my area, people are waking up to something. Best time of year to stock up on jackets, coats, etc. clearance sales.

        • If you’ll forgive the pun… Valcambi has a “capital idea.”

        • No matter how well prepared or skilled you are you are going to need to get things eventually. Gold and Silver are good assets to have. Along with bulllets, beans and bandaids.

          Cruachan!

          • All righty then, It does make you sit up and take stock of all the good around you.

            Anybody going to be watching any football this weekend? 🙂

            Oh yeah, I have been quite for the holidays but have been keeping up. Mac, if you want to go fishing on the Sacramento River just let me know. I have a 30 foot tug just making a hole in the water that I have to pay for every month in West Sac. at this time of year. I did not know you were that close.

        • I’ll settle this bone-head argument once and for all. When currencies crash the underworld turns to kidnapping. Think….South America. You’d better have some of what they want to get your loved one back. I’m just saying.
          A case of beans won’t do it.
          If you don’t pay up… they put your loved one in a garbage can…set them on fire and send you a video as a warning to others.

          Yes, you cannot eat gold and silver…but it just might save the lives of your kids or wife.

          Folks, we’re entering reality time soon….better think for yourself and not believe everything someone posts.

          Respectfully and with Love
          Steve

        • Precious metals are more for any recovery period post-disaster. Whether the current money is re-valued/de-valued or replaced, your gold/silver will get you more in exchange than the old dollars you have on hand. You can use the “you can’t eat it” b/s while describing countless preps. Shelter? Can’t eat it. Clothes? Can’t eat it. Firearms? Can’t eat it. Tools? Can’t eat them. etc……

        • Az prepper is an idiot

        • gold ransom…no food. kidnaping a growth industry in South America coming soon to a fiat crashed place. A can of spam won’t get your loved ones back. Wake up and live in the real world.

        • Name me one time in the history of the world where a person who had gold starved while the people around him didn’t

        • oh, so take ALL your savings and buy storable food and edible iPads? Got it. Are stocks edible? How about Treasuries? I guess I could wipe my ass with them.

        • Granted, you can’t eat gold or silver, but as a medium for barter they can come in handy. Fractional gold has its uses, but silver fractional packs are available, and silver is a more widely accepted medium for everyday trade. I’ve been stocking up with silver, and so far have found that Northwest Territorial Mint has the rates I’ve found, and shipping is free. If anyone knows of somewhere with better rates, please let me know. In any case, hard currency is simple common sense for any prepper to have on hand in case the dollar tanks.

        • What an idiotic comment, of course you can’t… gonna eat fiat?

        • You can’t eat paper either, but you can buy food with it. Duh.

        We have lost Habeas Corpus. We have lost the right to ‘Due Process’. We have lost the 1st Amendment Right to Free Speech: To think or speak freely and to challenge the government on everything government does—but especially during ‘times of war.’

        We’ve lost the entire Bill of Rights that was guaranteed in the Bill of Rights in its entirety. Now we’re losing the protections in the Second Amendment—but NOT without a fight!

        Without the right to keep and bear arms to defend ourselves the public is about to embrace permanent SLAVERY. This would effectively end any and all pretense about there being a real government in this place. USI is illegitimate in every way—except in becoming the POLICE-STATE that it has always been, on-the-public-record, for the entire world to see.

        What’s missing is that fatal moment when this government enacts illegal and criminal enforcement (interference) with their most-recent-criminal-ban on any and all privately-held firearms.

What makes this a problem wasn’t because they were suddenly no longer a threat, it was because the global elites ensured Russia was ground zero for the NWO agenda we see now. The assault weapons ban was put up in 1994, and the systematic dismantling of the Bill Of Rights have been in full swing since…

        • Bbullseye on point best analysis of the American future as I see it.

      3. Sorry for being off topic but was wondering what is the best way to store coffee beans long term. Raw? Roasted? Thanks

        • Raw, vacuum sealed. Roast them when you get ready to use them.

        • Coffee beans don’t store well unless they’re frozen. Instant coffee will last for years.

        • green…stores the longest for “real” coffee. Freeze-dried instant stores the longest…

        • I opened up a jar of instant the other day, it has been on the shelf for YEARS…since 2005. It is just as good today as it was then… but it was stored in a 65deg room.
          YMMV

          • I bought a case of 1 lb vacumn foil sealed packets at a grocery store going out of business for $1.00 per pound. I don’t think they will go bad till opened. And if they do have a bit of an off taste, well, any coffee is better than no coffee. (I hope)

        • Don’t know about the beans, but I do know that ground in steel cans with steel lids keeps 10 years and more.

      4. It may get here too late. It will take some time for these to be fully accepted and probably even longer for it to be trusted. I think food and water will trump this tiny square for quite awhile, but it’s still a good idea. I’ll get one of the cards when it becomes available, assuming we’re still here and there’s some semblance of order. How easy would these be to counterfeit? For very good reason, no one trusts anyone or anything any longer and I think that will be the largest obstacle to acceptance.

        • I suspect that due to its thinness, it’d be harder to counterfeit than coins.

          A coin can be some close-in-weight (and non-ferrous) base metal plated with gold, like one of those late-night “collector’s” “gold-clad” coins. After all, who has a scale that sensitive which doesn’t require batteries?

          These little wafers on the other hand can probably be cut into with a pair of sheet metal snippers quite easily as a test, or simply bitten into, or bent.

          • Thanks, OQ, That makes sense. Yeah, I’ve seen those ads in the middle of the night and I assume someone buys them because the ads are never-ending. Insomia definitely has its downside.

            • The funny thing is, those “gold-clad” BS coins actually have a good purpose in your preps as well.

              I have a few sitting in and among the fake stash, which I keep in a hallway closet. That way, anyone who does manage to break in (be they officials or criminals) will likely grab those and run (thinking they’re the pile), not bothering to look too much deeper to the real stuff hidden a whole lot deeper in the home. Among other ‘goodies’ is the bucket of plaster (err, it’s labelled “flour”), the fake sugar (boric acid mixed with sugar), the busted-beyond-belief (complete with filed-down firing pin) revolver, and more.

              • OQ,
                I love the way you think…
                My home is arranged in a very similar vein…
                The easy to find is garbage, designed to give away… buggy rice, out of date cans, etc… this is also my charity stash.
                So don’t throw out those old preps folks, put them in an easy to see shelf or other location, use them as gimmes…

          • The large bar ia good to store but, if I went shopping, I would cut it into pieces ahead of time. Taking out a large bar to cut off the pieces in public would be the equivalent of flashing a stack of $100 bills.

        • Vicki: I had thought about this too. Several years back, there was news about gold bars that were fake, can’t remember details on where or who involved. Another fraud was exposed (late ’90’s) on J. De Angelis selling silver and gold (wire/mail fraud) in the N.E. some were scammed.

          • @laura….

            The problem with this bar is that it does not add up. They say 1.76 troy ounces of 50-1gm gold pieces. On today’s market that should be around $3,000 or about $60 per piece and not $34 per piece.

            This tells me two things. (1) that they expect gold to severly crash and $34 is a bargain, or (2) that the gold is in a different form such as gold-plated.

            The final thing is how many stores or gold vendors will accept this card in the first place.

            A better idea would be a depository at a bank. You could take in gold or silver at a bank, and after their spot fees, the PM value is credited to your account.

      5. It’s a cool idea, but I don’t have the money to put that anywhere near a priority. When the SHTF, it is going to be a long while before gold is used to barter again. If I am going to spend $2k+ on prep, it’s going to be on another rifle, ammo, meds, food/water, or even alcohol before I buy a gold ‘credit’ card. Those things will assist my survival long before currency of any kind comes back into play. Opinions vary.

        Esse Quam Videri

        • Gold is what you put your life savings in. If you don’t have a lot of money in savings there’s no point in buying it.

          • Barn Cat

            Exactly. Gold is for the funds after the necessities are covered.

        • True, but then, that’s sort of like life now; if you cannot afford to sock money away into investments like stocks or bonds, then you focus on food, shelter, clothes, etc.

      6. If it comes to this, then I would rather have a Uranium card so I can end the misery alittle quicker.

        • Money or God. Choose life. Your worth more than all the gold in the world. God Bless.

        • No you wouldn’t…

          First off, Uranium costs a whole lot more per gram (we’re talking enough to buy a private jet more).

          Second, how will you know how it all ends if you decide to leave the theater halfway through? You never know what may come along.

          • @odd questioner–

            The Tale of Two Dogs

            Our dog is a border collie. Very faithful, always on the watch, and loves her daily walks. She is a diabetic of 4 years now and we keep her alive with two insulin shots per day, plus special food. Our dog is great. Her name is Gally. She live indoors and has all the comforts of life that we spoil her with.

            Our neighbors dog is a boxer named Bosco. Bosco lives outside in a doghouse. Lately, each morning it has been below zero for temps. Bosco hobbles out the doghouse and wanders and barks for attention as our neighbors are home or not home. Bosco scratches on their sliding doors for a few moments, but no one lets him in. Its cold, so he goes back to the doghouse and does this routine again about 30 minutes later.

            Gally is spoiled and Bosco is lonely and cold.

            Gally goes for daily walks, Bosco gets none.

            Humans are weird.

            If the New World Order is coming then obviously I will fight and survive the best I can. I will prepare. I have even told my youngest son about these possibilities without trying to scare him too much. I have let him know that I will always be there for him, even if it means the end. I let him know that I love him every day.

            The very possible and near future could be ugly. I do not want to watch kids and others die just because others were stupid. I will prepare for my family, but I will also buy seeds and do what I can to help others.

            If the New World Order is what I get because I survived, then please give me the Uranium Card instead of the Gold Card. To me, its no longer worth it.

            • Your neighbors should not own a dog. Boxers are not outside dogs. BTW I have owned Border Collies for over 20 years. The one we have now is an inside dog (Wife said so). However, I have owned Border Collies that were barn dogs that hated being in the house. They would rather curl up in the snow to nap than be in the house.Great animals.

              • @JRS:

                Our dog is bordie collie with some lab mix. Great dog. Most ‘pure’ border collies where I live are ranchers or cattlemen’s dogs.

                I’m going shopping today with wife. Will buy some canned goods to store. I am going to use my ‘inflation’ list. If interest rates start climbing along with inflation, then watch out, the dollar collapse will be near.

            • I understand what you’re getting at, but I’ll let you in on a secret:

              During most times, the vast majority of folks simply muddle through as best they can, and manage to produce generations upon generations of children. Somewhere in there, the children are the ones who rise up, get together, and strike down the (to them) old order.

              The kids who grew up fearing Stalin’s purges became the adults who brought down the USSR. The kids who feared for their lives during China’s ‘Great Leap Forward’ became the industrialists who are now making China’s hardline leadership obsolete.

              Lots of other examples, but the point is real simple. You may not be able to do something about how government is going, but your children can. The trick lies in the fact that you have to teach them quietly, and foster that flame in their hearts.

          • “First off, Uranium costs a whole lot more per gram (we’re talking enough to buy a private jet more).”

            Wrong, like enough to buy a private jet wrong.

            • “Hyperbole (pron.: /haɪˈpɜrbəliː/ hy-pur-bə-lee;[1] Greek: ὑπερβολή hyperbolē, “exaggeration”) is the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. It may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression, but is not meant to be taken literally.”

      7. Late 2013? It may be too late by then. Just saying.

        • Agreed. By then gold will be much higher, and Fed notes will be more worthless.

      8. I’ll pass, too poor to invest in such things. I am still a slave to the fiat dollar, unfortunately.

      9. Agreed, 2013 may be to late. Most people will be to fawking broke by then if their not already.

        But,

        I find it resonable for those that can afford enough of these Gold cards to pay a min of 1 year of your property tax with or use one to barter with if the situation comes that.

        just my .02

        • K-H

          What’s to stop ‘Goon-squad central’ from declaring privately held gold illegal and forcing folks to exchange such, for worthless Bernanke script at some near future date?

          They’ve already quarantined the Constitution! They’re in the closing phases of nullifying the Bill of Rights!

          In truth, the whole supposition of property tax is ludicrous & blatantly communistic, IMO.
          In a free & just society, we should never be taxed on our property.

          Unfortunately, since 1913…govt skullduggery has reduced us to mere…tenants!

          “Cuz even if you retire the note(mortgage), you honestly don’t own said property.
          Quit paying said rental fee(property taxes) and you’ll find out real fast who owns it.

          I hope that the survivors of the coming collapse, organize & band together, during the rebuilding phase and abandon this disgusting concept.

          • It’s been done before in April 1933. Uncle Sam took the gold and then inflated the currency.

            I envision an underground economy in the event of such a thing again.

            • Exactly so Kevin. Remember, many millions of Americans defied this tyrannical order of FDR, and they kept their gold. If they hadn’t, we wouldn’t have all those old gold coins from before 1933 that are still in existence.

              Everything I own — PM, food, tools, weapons etc etc — I paid for with MY money. The government of this country ALREADY takes way too much from me in taxes. They can go fuck themselves if they think they’re taking a damned thing more from me.

              Molon Labe

          • What’s to stop you from stashing it in a good hiding place and then answering any questions about it with a sweet, innocent: “…what gold!? I’m too f%#$*&ing broke to afford gold!”

      10. I would get a scale and a micrometer. Gold is extremely dense. There’s no way to counterfeit it without making it a lot thicker. With a scale and a micrometer you can prove mathematically that the gold is genuine.

        • True, but there’s a couple of things to keep in mind:

          * micrometers require periodic calibration, depending on use

          * scales sensitive enough to detect sub-milligram differences in weight usually require batteries, or are big and expensive mothers which require periodic calibration and a nice quiet dust-free place to store them.

          * a magnet will figure out the ferrous-based knockoffs

          * a hardened steel awl scratched on the surface plus a little hydrochloric acid will go further in determining a fake than complex math and delicate equipment will. 😉

          • OQ,
            How does that hydrochloric acid test work. What are you looking for as a result for positive or negative? Where do you get this acid? TKS, BigB

            • As part of my preps I picked up a gold / silver / PM test kit from Amazon. Just search and you’ll find them. I picked up a scale and a few other testing tools at the same time – relatively inexpensive. Unfortunately the acid test does scar your coin so if you’re looking to maintain those shiny finishes, be aware that even if you choose a small spot to test, it’s going to leave a mark.

          • Ammo reloading balance scales (no batteries) can measure down to the tenth of a grain, very accurate, but small weights only. For those who don’t reload, a grain is 1/7000 of a pound.

      11. “though some key officials at our central banks suggest gold is not real money”

        If the SHTF., I will not be dealing with the bankers, but my neighbor will deal with me.

        🙂 Where there is no law., there is just survival.

        ~~~~ BILLY JACK ~~~~~
        • If these banksters think that gold is not money, why are they trying hoard all of it for themselves? This is nothing more than propaganda designed to separate the people from REAL money.
      12. For small purchases I’d still prefer to use junk silver dimes. Each one is worth about $2 today. For medium purchases I’d buy junk silver dollars at $20 each. If I had tens of thousands of dollars to convert to gold I’d buy one ounce gold coins.
        • While I agree with what you say, I still suggest that 2-peso gold coins or 1-gram gold bars would be small enough denominations to use for higher-end bartering/purchases.
      13. What’s in your wallet?
        Not. Much. I spend it as fast as possible. Don’t want to hold debt.
        • Why not? When the economy goes down the shitter, your debt will go away. Live it up and believe.
        • I agree Korhi. A much needed read.
        • @Korhi
          A thought provoking read. thanx
      14. I think another option would have round versions but they would be already broken up and stored as rolls in plastic tubes.
      15. I like the concept behind the card, but it would only be for wealthy people who have money to invest in something like that. If I had $1700 right now, it would go straight into storable foods, water, water purification items, medical supplies, ammo, etc., things I know will keep me alive. Besides, I agree late 2013 will be too late for the idea. SHTF and civil war will have taken place by then and most of the population will be history. When gun confiscation is attempted, it’s game on and will end tragically for the gun grabbers. You can’t eat gold or silver. Braveheart
      16. again…you need food, water, guns, ammo, AND gold/ silver the notion you should just stock up on food, water, and ammo and forget the gold/silver is just utterly STUPID. You need all the bases covered.
        • Yo BPD –
          It’s called diversification of your assets. You try to cover ALL the bases as best you can, but concentrating on the most important aspects of your family’s requirements for survival FIRST. Until you can protect them, feed them, provide them with clean water to drink and provide for their basic medical needs ………. you can’t even really start thinking about purchasing PMs.
          If you can’t afford PMs, then I would at least advise ‘stashing’ some drinking alcohol for barter. Numerous brands bottle their product in heavy plastic, supposedly unbreakable, 750 ml bottles. A local liquor store regularly offers specials, 3 for $30 – $40, depending on the product and brand.
          Think outside the box and work now, while you still have the chance, to establish yourself to provide others with necessary goods/services after things ‘head-south’.
          God Bless & good luck to all.
      17. That is one beautiful gold “card” bar. At today price of gold, this card would go for 3,550 bucks. By the time it goes available to the public, it will likely run 5K or greater.
      18. Yeah, this isn’t practical. It’s not in a good shape for transport (square as opposed to round) and once you break a tab off, it becomes a sharp object.
        This looks like something more for showing off than a practical exchange medium.
        I agree with other posters that coins would be better.
      19. MARINE TELLS FEINSTEIN…
        ‘SHOVE IT UP YOUR…!’
        MARINE VET CPL. JOSHUA BOSTON has become an American hero almost overnight.
        After posting an Open Letter to Senator Feinstein at CNN’s iReport Site last week letting Feinstein know that he would not submit to her draconian law denuding him of his Second Amendment rights, Boston’s letter has now gone viral.
        The veteran Marine, Joshua Boston, who was deployed to Afghanistan 2004 through 2005, informed Feinstein that he will NOT register his weapons nor does he believe Feinstein (and her ilk) has the right to require him to do so since he is not Feinstein’s “peasant,” but rather, she is subject to him and to all American citizens. Bravo!
        The “No Ma’am’ Letter Of Ex-Marine Joshua Boston Reads As Follows:
        Senator Dianne Feinstein,
        I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own.
        Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime.
        You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.
        I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.
        I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.
        I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.
        We, the people, deserve better than you.
        Respectfully Submitted,
        Joshua Boston
      20. You preppers are missing the point on this one. This will never go because you cannot print enough of the gold to sustain an economy needing an excess $1T.
        Physical gold and silver are hedges only. You hedge against inflation, or against a currency that is deflating. You buy and store silver so you can cash it in during better times.
        How many business would except this gold card, except for the wealthy type of purchases. Can you imagine going thru Burger King with this card?
        Its just a scam with only a few option areas to purchase thru. It is probably purchased at 50% above spot?
        • Ugly
          If gold and silver was currency the “economy” would not be trillions but billions and a new car would cost a fraction of it’s cost today. The same for food, fuel and everything else. The idea of expanding the money supply with productivity just removes wealth from those that saved and puts it into the hands of those that create the additional currency. The idea of expanding the money supply above productivity is nothing more than outright theft by deception.
          • @Kevin2….
            The entire system was once good, but has now turned into gambling casinos and ponzi schemes.
            Yes, I have bought silver. I will buy some more in 2013 and then never again–unless I see some at a yard sale.
            Here is the problem. Silver and gold prices are mostly influenced by ‘paper’ traders on the ETFs. They have purchased more than there is in real physical quantities. So it is another propped up speculation.
            I have purchased silver only as a hedge and a long term holding. In bad times, your silver is only worth what someone is willing to pay. The price you see are the ETFs. Try to get that same price from your neighbor.
            The New World Order will not win because they got Gold and Silver. They will win because they controlled food, the financial system, energy, and water.
            Now those are real assets.
            • Small potatoe as Dan Quayle said. Fiat needs backing when it is no longer believed. How much food can you store and grow…
              • @Anonymous….
                No doubt. People in most areas can only store so much food. The problem is most people are basically storing nothing. Even a person on welfare or foodstamps can put some food away each month and try to prepare the best they can.
                The problem is 90% of Americans do not see any imminent danger coming. Thus, we will all get caught together.
                It is not so much as how much food can I store, but how much food will the USA produce when hyperinflation becomes an issue? If its too expensive, then most people cannot afford it and that is when civil unrest will start that America has never seen.
                PS. I hope I am 100% wrong.
            • Sitting here with a small tube of pre 1965 dimes in front of me; 90% silver content. Last time I checked each one was worth $2.30; two are worth $4.60. A gallon of gas is worth $3.30 a gallon at the station right down the street. So those two dimes have a total value worth one gallon of gas plus change back of $1.30.
              Gas for less than twenty cents a gallon + $1.30 ‘funny-money’ change back? Does this comparison give anyone else a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach??? What does this tell you about how the banksters, in concert with our beloved government, has worked to dilute the value of our currency over the last 55 years or so?
              It wasn’t too many years ago in our country that a young man could graduate from high school, and if he decided that college wasn’t for him, get a job down at the local ‘widget factory’. That was when we still made things in this country. That job would provide him with a wage that would permit a reasonable standard of living; wife, kids, car and the ability to purchase a modest home of their own. NOT ANY LONGER!!!!!
              Today, forward looking parents are teaching their children to say, in fucking Mandarin; “Can I supersize that order for you?”
              I really don’t much like looking forward into the future and seeing what I believe is headed our way. I don’t think that it is going to be much fun for anyone involved.
      21. Gold and Silver is real.It is not fiat paper currency…..Gold is hoarded,silver is consumed in a lot of consumer products.When you buy less than one ounce of gold you end up paying hundreds of dollars more per ounce.If you are just starting out I recommend buying one ounce silver as close to spot price as you can. Yes, I own both. However my brass and lead over the last year has been a better return on investment.Think about this….If the SHTF…would you rather have 10k in gold and silver or 10k worth of ammo and stored food for your family and close friends?……..
        • Completely agree, my ammo surplus that was bought many years ago, and some that are reloads, are worth in some cases 3X to even 4X what I paid for it..including components.
          the other thing i see is tons of people who bought semi auto rifles in the craze and got some ammo for them, will more than likely run thru that ammo sighting it in, and breaking in the guns..therefore when they cant get more ammo, or the price of it prohibits them from buying more..they will have a nice wall hanger..Art if you will
          • @VRF….I can’t tell you how many calls I have gotten from my buddies in the last few weeks. I have been telling everybody for the last couple of years that the next war on guns will be ammo. (homeland sec. buying 1.6b rds.) I have been telling them that you have your guns…buy ammo and when you think you have enough….BUY MORE !…
            • yep, I preached the same thing, not many paid any attention..
              Also spoke of it as the new currency..and whataknow..it could get to the point where you could name your price if things keep going like they are
              • Same thing here. What good is a tricked out AR or AK if you ain’t got enough rounds stored up to feed it. It’s hard to have such a weapon and not use it like it’s meant for. My guess is, it’s like the finger can’t stop pulling cause the feel and sound is too good, so there goes another hundred bucks for ammo or reloading stuff.
                The problem is, that supply chain may get broken and then you have an expensive deer or varmint gun for a while. After that, an expensive conversation piece.
                For the beginner or person on a low budget, try blackpowder, or equivilant, with sabots in a muzzleloader. A cheap 50 cal. muzzle stuffer, 250 rounds of lead cast bullets(44 or 45 cal.),sabots,powder,caps will get you plenty of firepower for hunting and some personal protection for less than $500.00. The added bonus is no FFL required. Leave no paper/digital trail of purchases and no worries about confiscation by the feds/commies.
      22. Those who say you can’t ‘eat’ gold or silver are only partially correct. Wealth, purchases anything if there is anything to buy, food, ammo, whatever. In a collapse scenario, people will want food first, then ammo, then ‘real value’ after things go back to a more normal world. But paper, once rejected, will never be ‘money’ again in your lifetime. So don’t listen to the simple minded. Diversify, food and water for a couple years, homesteading supplies, seeds, land, etc, then put excess money into rental real estate and PM’s, unless you have a warehouse, and are able to rotate those preps they will go bad… PM’s never will. Rental real estate is a the best ‘investment’ now… PM’s are second as ‘insurance’ against monetary failure, if I could, I’d have both.
        And that means junk silver coins, that are easily recognizable by the average Joe. I would also keep a cash stash of a couple months expenses, just in case of bank holidays.
        If you have great wealth, you know this already.
        • Piper Michael
          I like the idea of rental property in all but a collapse. The concept of true “private property” I think will go away. With lots of desperate people the, “From those according to their means to those according to their needs” might be the order of the day. Private property assumes respect for private ownership and the rule of law. I envision government by decree with forced sharing.
          If things don’t get that bad the rentals are good providing your tenants pay. A friend is getting stuck as we speak and eviction takes months. The tenants have not paid for two months and it will take a few more to evict them. You can’t get blood from a stone.
          Beats me what to do. That glass looks half empty to me and the contents are evaporating as we speak.
          • Kevin2,
            IT depends on what ‘collapse’ is… to many here and elsewhere relate the word to Madmax… lets reflect…
            Argentina… Collapsed..
            Russia… collapsed…
            Many other countries have ‘collapsed’… in this country, a monetary or debt collapse would still leave the Powers in charge, and whatever form of economy was still around. Would things be bad? Yes.
            But, would you still have legal protections for YOUR property is the question…
            In all other scenarios, it becomes irrelevant, because we’re talking a political collapse… people don’t understand the Madmax scenario applies only to nuclear war, massive Earth changes. But any other collapse scenario is merely a monetary issue with political ramifications… in those, I want my money to be PRODUCING INCOME.
            (Just make sure, if you do rental property, to cover all your costs + profit)
            • If the collapse is sufficient to have masses marching in the street wanting food no investment will be worth a damn. High inflation but not so disabling that people can still afford a place the rental would have value.
              I feel for people but I my friend needs the tenant to pay the rent as promised.
          • Forgot to add, you’re exactly right…
            Managing a rental is work… but, if its paid for, its YOURS, and up to the scenario you mentioned is likely to remain yours. Even in a forced marxist takeover, it is your income they are stealing, and for that, they DIE.
            So after that point, its ALL irrelevant except for having lots of the basics hidden away.
        • There are some pitfalls to renting out property…
          * As long as our current government holds up, evicting a bad tenant will eat up to 90 days in most states. Bad tenants with children will (in some states) take even longer.
          * Post-collapse (or even during if law enforcement drops off) will mean that most attempts to collect rent will likely be met with a sob story of massive proportions, a burned-down house after the residents leave, or a hail of bullets. Bad mojo from any angle. There may be some honest souls in there, but I wouldn’t count on it.
          * Kevin2 brings up a solid point – a government in crisis can order that no evictions take place.
          Overall, I suspect that post-collapse, possession will be 9/10ths of the law when it comes to property. If you can defend it, it’s yours. If you cannot, no piece of paper will do much to keep it in your possession.
          • OQ, right on target…
            That’s why, around here, we don’t rent to anybody, or advertise a rental in newspapers for rent to any old scum of the Earth.
            Handle it through word of mouth and churches, flyers in stores, keep the gubmint outa your business by selecting your renters carefully. If you can’t read the character of a human being, you probably don’t need to be a landlord.
            • I find the same deal out here. Very few folks rent by classified ad – I find out about rentals at church, from friends, etc.
      23. @ everyone…..friends…..colloidal silver is the best thing you can do for yourself once you have the flu…it’s natures antibiotic and is what was used before the dawn of the drugged out age we are now in. The silver solution works by attaching itself to the virus and flushing the virus out through the urinary track/stool. Just don’t take more than the recommended dosage…your skin will turn blue.( lol funny..but not dangerous at all ) It’s wise to keep some of this in your preps so you have it just in case you or others get sick. NEVER USE TAMIFLU..IT COULD KILL YOU DEADER THAN A HAMMER!! ( I also posted this in the last article…i want to be sure everyone knows about this. )
        The other suggestions were good too….most of those are for building up your immune system ( c, d3, etc ) PRIOR to getting sick.Once you are in fact…sick….colloidal silver is by far the best non-drug option for the flu. You should be taking suppliments like c and d3 every day due to the fact it’s much harder to get sick if you have a strong immune system.
        • badpuppy is right… especially in a nebulizer for lung infections. It cured my leg of sepsis after a dogbite, and the antibiotics failed, the doc said my leg may have to ‘go’… I cured it myself with ionic silver water… 24 hours after soaking the wound, the sepsis started clearing up… and a scab formed over a deep wound…
          YMMV
          • PM
            Hope you shot the dog!
            • Actually, I did.
              45 ACP makes quick work.
        • badpuppydog..the lady at the health food store says she even puts it in her child’s ear for earaches.
          I just got cannibis oil, so colloidal silver is my next purchase.
          Be warned, it is sold by srength, and some quantities are like not even having it. Beware.
          • I will come right out and say I am nieve when it comes to the Cannibis plant use (other than the obvious, i am a child of the 60’s so..)
            what would you use the Cannibis oil for?
            thanks
            VRF
            • Topical?
              rash?
              burn?
              • For burns: If possible, hold/or soak the burned area in milk (any type). This will cool the pain and stop the burn from deepening.
                Once the pain subsides a bit, apply mustard liberally. (yep, good old yellow mustard) This will “pull” the burn out-and it will hurt, but will stop damage to skin and tissue.
                Alternate the mustard with a ground clove paste to soothe and numb the area.
                I should have scars from 3rd degree burns all up my arm, but have none at all because I did these things.
            • VRF ~
              Cannabis oil is extremely all purpose. You can use it topically in many different ways. There have even been studies using it topically on skin cancer with excellent results.
              You can get it at most health food stores under the name of “hemp seed oil”. It can also be used as a nutritional supplement. It is a good source of EFAs. It has been shown to be beneficial to diabetics, and again, cancer patients, when taken internally.
              Search up “health benefits of hemp seed oil” for more information.
              • Thanks Daisy..probably not a bad thing to have in the preps
                • Remember the oil of Clove for dental emergencies, pain relief.
          • Make your own colodial silver.
            google Hush puppy generator.
        • Ok, now I feel dumb. I have a bottle of colloidal silver. I had bought it a few years back when I was rounding out my preps. Didn’t know it was also good for the flu but it makes total sense.
        • Where can I buy a collidal silver manufacturing machine for a reasonable price? I know I could make one, but I am not a mechanical type gal. Thanks!
      24. omg…I want one of those gold cards…thats freaking sweet.
        • A couple of dozen of them.
      25. Newspaper: Workers dumping radioactive waste from Fukushima into rivers (PHOTOS)
        Cleanup crews in Fukushima Prefecture have dumped soil and leaves contaminated with radioactive fallout into rivers. Water sprayed on contaminated buildings has been allowed to drain back into the environment. And supervisors have instructed workers to ignore rules on proper collection and disposal of the radioactive waste. […]
        From Dec. 11 to 18, four Asahi reporters spent 130 hours observing work at various locations in Fukushima Prefecture.
        At 13 locations in Naraha, Iitate and Tamura, workers were seen simply dumping collected soil and leaves as well as water used for cleaning […]
        The reporters also talked to about 20 workers who said they were following the instructions of employees of the contracted companies or their subcontractors in dumping the materials. A common response of the workers was that the decontamination work could never be completed if they adhered to the strict rules. […]
        “We were told to clean up only those areas around a measurement site,” one worker said. […]
      26. I’m stocking up on ammo, food, and heirloom seeds. If I were to get any metals I’d get silver. Its been shorted by JP Morgan much harder than gold and its actually used up in industrial processes.
      27. Financial “Crisis” in Greece video
      29. Nigel Farage – Greece Descending into Total Chaos & Violence
        Greece is imploding into Anarchy becoming a living Hell…
        With the situation in Greece becoming extraordinarily dangerous, today Nigel Farage told King World News that Greece is nearing a full blown revolution. He also said a former distinguished Greek Ambassador is telling him that people with assets are now buying rifles and preparing to defend their properties.
        Here is what Farage had to say about Greece descending into utter chaos: “I have spoken on this Greek subject repeatedly, and on the Sunday just gone it was a very dramatic day because the Parliament held a session to vote on whether they would accept the new bailout package. There were a couple of very interesting things that happened there.
        Before the vote took place there were 80,000 people on the streets, outside the Greek Parliament, basically attempting to storm the Parliament.”
        ~he and his friends, who live in the big detached houses on the outskirts of Athens, they are all going out and buying Kalashnikovs (rifles). He said, ‘We are doing that because we think those of us that have assets and property, at some point soon, are going to need to defend our properties.’
        ~we are heading for a revolution.”
      30. 10,000 = bullets and beans
        50,000 = bullets, beans and land
        150,000 = precious metals, bullets, beans and land
        The whole “you can’t eat gold” thing really only depends on how much money you have to try to save.
      31. The gold card is pretty cool, but…
        Recall that the private ownership of gold has been banned before, and if the parasites think that you think that you are going do to an end-run around thier game, they will ban it again…
        • Maybe…but from the school im from..they can only ban what you let them ban.
        • The laws banning “illegal” drugs (many “legal” drugs are much worse for you) have worked soooo well. Like everywhere else, USA will have an “underground” economy that will rival the “legitimate” economy.
          • It’s already here Bob. It’s called “silk road” and it must be working very well with it’s members using “bitcoins”. The bitcoins are called “crypto currency” and it’s like a brown paper bag of cash for online peer-to-peer traders.
            You know it must be working when an asshole liberal like Chuck Schumer is trying to make waves against it an shut it down.
      32. I see ABC News (US) reports 155000 new jobs in December 2012, with Detroit doing better with new jobs. Talk of momentum in the economy. 7.8% unemployment, home prices rising reflecting that improvement, rah rah etc and so on.
        MM for you.
        • Mostly temporary & construction jobs after Sandy in NY/NJ. Wait until next month and see.
      33. Really and truly, the coming situations are going to be what is needed. This is the whole problem here. If you have a world that still deals with money, then precious metals and even cash money is a good investment. I kind of think that IF the world continues by some miracle that platinum is going to soar in value. Copper, like someone said on this site, in coiled up rolls is good for barter and selling it. One thing few people invest in and this is one future market, again if by some miracle the society survives, are RARE EARTHS that are going to skyrocket in value.
        My bet is still on that the world is in deep trouble and food, water, firearms and ammo, and much, much more true tangibles are what are going to have the best value of anything, especially with extreme inflation around the corner.
      34. This is very interesting, and could be a good way to diversify. We’ve always heard, never put all your eggs in one basket. And not being a kid anymore I’ve found this to be true. So don’t think that guns and ammo or food is your only thing to acquire. I believe were headed down a rough road, but were not going to just wake up one morning,and start boarding up the windows and shoot at everything that moves. Things will happen one step at a time, and they are coming,so plan wisely. Just wondering if they will let us take these cards with us to the FEMA camps,they may come in handy to get special favors. ever see a puzzle come together. I know everyone on this site has heard of NDAA, but if you haven’t, it’s the National Defense Aithorization Act for fiscal 2013- HR4310 and this Legislation passed the House by a vote of 315to107 on 21 Dec. 2012. This Act allows the Federal Government to detain U.S. Citizens without charge if they are suspected of supporting terrorism. Wonder who determines what is terrorism. I’m not entirely a conspiracy theory kinda guy, but looks like this gun control issue and NDAA could go hand in hand. So stand strong, but be careful of what you say on these blogs. M.T. SEMPER PARATUS
        • The’ll let you take um to the FEMA camps,ummnm sure, than they will perminantly remove them from your possesion.
          and probably put you in a “special cell”
          • VRF, Say It ain’t So!!!! Trekker Out. Semper Paratus.
      35. Be informed,
        You are so right, pm’s are fine for those who can afford to buy a lot because more than a few gold ounces is not realistic for most people. The gain on that small amount would be pretty much insignificant. Food, water, firearms and ammo are things that most can store and afford. I never did get the gold fever. It would make more sense to get that bit of gold when you trade a can of soup for it, or a roll of tp, or even a can of coke. Something to think about.
        They keep pushing the gold and pm’s, seems more like a sucker deal to me. If you have a lot of extra money laying around, then buy farm land, seeds, farm animals and make your life self sufficient.
      36. Off topic, I apologize..
        A question for Be Informed – I have noticed almost a total lack of activity on the entire west portion of the PACIFIC R.O.F. today except for a 4+in Ecuador. Is this like a calm before the storm kinda thing in tectonic form? Would like to hear your input. Thanks for always keeping an eye on this stuff as I live in the Pacific Northwest and have a daughter in Southern California, very concerned!
        • Correction… I meant East portion of Ring of Fire
          • @ W69. You should be concerned. I was looking at the Mid Indian Ridge that just had a 5.1 on it and what happens after this area is hit. I really narrowed it down because this area gets a lot of quakes being the African plate’s eastern boundary. I found for example that Baja California just a little south of the California Mexico border had a 6.9 on August 3, 2009, this was 13 days after this almost exact sopt was hit today in the Indian Ocean.
            It is very creepy how you see these earthquakes on different parts of the plates around the world and each time they seem to indicate that the same spots are hit over and over again. Makes sense though as one section of a plate affects just a certain section of the world later on with a bigger earthquake.
            I have noticed that out of the past 4 earthquakes, 3 of them in the polar region, that they have a energy signature that has originated in the California and Mexico region. This means that California, especially the central part has a bull’s eye on it. The two earthquakes in the Balleny Islands region and the Scotia Sea region if you follow on a globe, not a flat map, up the plates they come together in central California. This one today further confirms that california is in the target zone.
            As of the Pacific Northwest, it has been jammed up with at least 9.0 energy behind it. That 7.8 on the Queen Charlotte fault should have caused the Cascadia fault to break, IF it had less than 9.0 energy built up. This is horrible news for people up there, because it means that when it breaks it will be as bad as Indonesia after Christmas Day tsunami, or as strong as the 1964 Alaskan earthquake. Strong as the Chilean quake of 1960 that was 9.5, probably not if that is any good news about it.
            You are correct about the calm before the storm, as faults that are so locked don’t move much at all, too locked to move. This is why only 5% have foreshocks, and these are probably that the fault broke and then temperorily relocked itself to break a few hours or days later. Actually earthquakes on big faults that are 4’s and 5’s are good, because it shows that the fault is not that locked that it cannot move. Earthquakes any larger could mean that the major break is soon coming afterwards.
            The energy from the build up of stress has to go somewhere, and this usually ends up in the polar and subpolar regions. From the past you can determine on which part of the polar plate boundaries are hit where the big earthquake is coming from. Also through plotting it on a globe. Today’s earthquake adds New Zealand to the target zones.
            I have seen this happen too many times before, you have a whole bunch of moderate earthquakes spread out throughout the planet, and then boom you get a 7+ or even a 8+. The larger the earthquake WILL be the more areas around the planet that will experience the pre-energy waves from it. This is what is happening right now. Just look how many polar earthquake there have been since the day before Christmas. This means the true cycle began on Dec.24 and has a window of 15 days, Jan.8 for the first major earthquake. Then there was the 26th, 30th, 31st, and 1st. This is an awful a lot of polar earthquakes and nothing yet 6.5+. Something terrible coming, I believe so. As more earthquakes present themselves the picture gets clearer and clearer.
            To tell the truth I am totally expecting to hear breaking news of a whopper. If I wake up during the night towards the top of the hour I turn on my shortwave to hear of any breaking news, earthquakes especially but also the other craziness in the world right now. I sure feel on edge, and I bet many others out there do to.
            • BI you are getting so accurate it’s scarry!
              7.7 off Alaska coast in the last hour…
            • BI,
              I just read that Juneau Alaska had a 7.5 an hour or so ago. It’s 8:11 AM eastern time right now. Your research seems right on target.
            • So much for things on the east coast of the ring of fire being quiet….=)
              You ROCK Be Informed!!! Nice prediction again!!!! and again!!! and again!!!! and again!!!! and again!!!!!
              • @ you don’t need to know. This is kind of freaking me out, about 3 and 1/2 hours after I say a whopper is coming, bang 7.5 or 7.7 in Alaska. This was too obvious with all the polar earthquakes the past week to week and a half, and why on previous comments I mentioned there be a near 100% of a very large earthquake. I however did not get the exact location this time. On post #980743 and # 987378 I was aiming more at the Kuril Islands and this is where the energy waves seemed to be one of the areas coming from.
                This is extremely bad where it happened. This is really just a northern extension of the 7.8 earthquake in November. This also affects the Cascadia fault big time. It moved an area for the Cascadia fault to lurch into, a space opened up. Therefore I give this alert to all the poor people in the northwest.
                5 days, if you live in the NORTHWEST this is the window to look for. If you can make it through the next 120 hours you will once again have avoided the Cascadia fault breaking for a little while. I would say Jan.10 is your day to look for, if by then the Cascadia fault has not gone then the odds decrease a lot of it breaking for the immediate future, if NOT more polar earthquakes indicate something. Up until Jan.10, if you live in the northwest, BEWARE. 50% chance, flip of a coin right now.
                @VRF. Your family in Peru is definitely still in possible danger until probably Jan.19 with this recent Indian Ocean earthquake on the African plate Australian plate boundary.
                @ Anyone. Could someone please tell me how to find all my previous comments on earthquakes so I can look over all the past predictions that came true. This system works so well, I want to try to refine it even more so because this area of Alaska did not really have much signatures coming from it. The area was more california and towards the Aleutian Islands. The big earthquake did come though, much sooner than I expected.
                Seriously everyone in the northwest and california, Mexcio, and central and western South America please be on alert, the cycle is not likely complete yet, there should be another big earthquake 75% chance within 2 weeks from today.
                • Thanks BI..My wife and I have given them heads up..they are very aware people, been thru a few doozies down there..the one I worry about is her Mom..she panics easy, but most of her day is spent out doors in the local market selling, so no roof or structure over her head to fall on her..as long as the ground where shes at dont open up , she should do ok.
                  last biggy, (i forget when)Mom just layed out prone on the ground, my wife stayed inside said everyone was yelling for her to get out of the home..she went to the roof top(its flat) and figured if the house went, she’d ride it down..not sure how good an idea that is.Ive seen the constuction of their home, its pretty stout and has made it thru a few shakers without damage.
                  Problem is , they only spend 1/3 of thier time there, not sure if thaats good or bad?..mostly they are out doing things or working…maybe being in open area is better, as long as a building doesnt topple and fall on any of them..
                • Nailed it again BI! If it hadn’t been for the information you have been providing I would not have even thought to ask that original question. I remembered reading what you said about energy locking up there. Thanks for doing what you do! No doubt, if people heed your warning they may very well be saved from a mega quake.
                • Beinformed
                • BI, we appreciate your effort regarding the earths “issues”. those of us paying attention will deal with whatever comes anyway we can.
                  Every day I get up early, stoke my wood stove, take care of our pets, have coffee, watch the day break over the Rocky Mountains before work, say a prayer and wonder…
                  is today the day…one day it will be.
                  God bless all of you here at shtfplan. I appreciate what mac and the others do and appreciate all comments.
                  I base my plans on what “real” people have to say.
                • @ Everyone. I really do base all these predictions on science and statistics of past events, but it really was weird after I commented last night. I woke up about 5 minutes before the earthquake in Alaska happened and I was actually thinking more about the Middle East than geo-physical anything. So at the top of the hour I turned on Fox News and they said this is breaking news from the US Geological Survey, and I immediately though that california just had their 8+ earthquake. When they said Alaska, I just shook my head and said to myself, someone needs to use this system of forecasting earthquakes that has the super computers to do so.
                  I then for the next 1/2 hour thought about the Cascadia fault and what this means and went back to sleep. I just don’t want anyone to think that this is some psychic thing, because if I could forecast the future I would be a multiple powerball winner. It truly is about countless hours studying charts and the numbers behind this that these predictions come about. Plugging in numbers after numbers and taking the globe and charting all these earthquakes and measuring distances and directions of energy signatures. It though is something when you feel with your hands the curve of the planet on the globe, it gives you a better idea where the stress points and releases are occurring and are going to occur.
                  What possee says would be so nice, to forecast the economic and political world. Unfortunately humans don’t follow a type of set of logic and definable set of parameters. Finances should follow that pattern, but humans have thrown all sorts of knuckle curve balls into the equation. Here about the asinine one trillion dollar platinum coin that BO is considering using to afford the debt ceiling. This is legal rather than printing up a bunch of paper money to pay for everything if the debt ceiling is not raised.
                  These type of loopholes are going to snare the government and hang them with their own sneakiness. An one trillion dollar coin to be used by the federal reserve with BO’s picture on it. It would be laughable if it was not so sick and pathetic. See why earthquakes are far simplier to predict?
                • BI, when you figure out a good way to find all your old earthquake comments, maybe you should consider compiling them and starting a blog site where you can post your method and your predictions? 🙂 They have a ton of free blog sites that you could do this at. I have a friend in Seattle, that I was just telling about your latest warning and he asked for a site where you publish your findings. I realized it’s difficult to point someone to your ideas when they are scattered over so many blogs. Anyway, just something to think about. 🙂
                • BE INFORMED, I said I wasn’t coming back to this site, but I do to check what you have to say! You probably already use this, but others might not be aware of this site.
                  http://www.iris.edu/spud/gmv/1054577
                  Absolutely fascinating to see how a earthquake affects areas far away!
                  You rock BI!
      37. I have noticed a lot of new names posting here.
        Welcome to the insanity.
        People waking up and buying more guns and ammo.
        People finding their voice.
        Does not take much to see the gold in that.
        Molon Labe friends and Family, we stand as one.
      38. I don’t have much in prep’s. Like I mentioned before that I have just recently “unplugged” from the matrix and took the red pill, thanks to my comrade ‘Just Me’ showing me this site.
        Someone was asking earlier about whether or not to get the 401k out of the market. That’s what I did. It may prove to have been foolish, but then again, maybe the best thing I have done. Because I have since been able to provide myself, and my son, and wife self defense weapons, 9mm XDM’S, 10 /22 Ruger and ammo.. And emergency backup heating /cooking supplies, and a few other necessities. It’s a start is all. Better now than never. Wish I had used more wisdom in the past.
        God bless all!
        • W69
          “Wish I had used more wisdom in the past.”
      41. This is my first time joining your comments and do enjoy reading your comments. I have to admit I do agree with the urgent need to plan for the furture, and water, food, shelter, defending your self and family are of upmost importance. nana
      42. things that make you go ..hummmm?
        was Gen. Petraeus not going to play along with the disarming of americans? was he going to honor his oath, and obamy was not going to have any of that, so he blew the affair cover?
        because you know they are all dirty..they all have skeletons in the closets, all of them. so the only way they can play is dirty.
        im sure there is more to this, but it just stuck me funny thru all this and Bengazi, Hillary..dis arming..attacks on the home land etc…
        • do some real research on the “shrubs” and you will find out that they are no damn different than the monkey.
          worse.
      43. @piper michael….glad to hear that…you made a great move not listening to the quack doctor and letting him cut your leg off….the stuff is truely a gift from god.
        @ jay jay….you can use it for many things….viruses, ear infections, acne, foot fungus etc…..and you are correct saying that they are not all created equel….make sure you get the quality c. silver….don’t get the cheap stuff.
        • How do you tell which is good quality?
          • look for a lot of red and silverish hairs with a good crystal looking coating with a stickiness resembling hair spray and and and that overwhelming aroma of skunkiness mixed with a fresh cut christmas tree smell. then the taste of….. oh shit, sorry Highspeed, wrong medicine.
      44. Gray State
      45. @ someone in time……yes….it’s more cost effective to make your own c. silver……make sure you get a quality c. silver generator….the cheap ones are garbage.
        • Where would I get a good generator?? Any ideas?
          • generatorsales.com
      46. You know I am not going to say gold and silver should not be kept as part of your overall strategy. But I do not see it as an immediate need if the SHTF. Beans, bullets and band aids for you and your family are a necessity. But going back to that story about the guy (Valco?) in the middle of the Serbs and Croatians war who said he and his family survived due to the 500 gallons of booze he appropriated and the re-filling of propane lighters.
        It would appear to me that if you have the basic necessities, in abundance, plus tradable goods you will be the one in the end who has the gold and silver. Kinda like the store keepers during the gold rush’s.
        Once again, just one mans thoughts.
        • That article was what led me to Sam’s Club for their 56 Bics for $37 deal.
      47. I was also rather disheartened after doing payroll, today. I’m not sure if I should be thankful this was all that came out or distressed because of how much came out. It’s safe to say that I feel a little “kicked in the teeth”.
        • Iowa
          Nice link, dude! Thanks much.
        • @Iowa — that’s a real eye-opener for me.
        • Thanks Iowa,
          Exactly what I’ve said for some time…
          The Caucasian race came from the Caucus Mountains… which are north of Iraq, the ancient kingdom of Babylon. The lost ten tribes went north out of Babylon, and scattered to the winds.
          Once this is understood, the Tens in the Bible becomes more understandable; The ten horns are the shofars of the tribes, the white man who runs the worlds banks and governments. This lesson is evident in the old meanings of words.
          The Saxons… the meaning of the tribe came from their original meaning and spelling… they were “Saacs Sons”, the leading vowels were often dropped back then, so they originally called themselves “Isaac’s Sons”, or the Sons of Isaac.
          But white folks don’t want to be associated with ‘JOOS’…when they should CELEBRATE the knowledge that we split from them. Once this is seen, all the prophesies become magnificently integrated…
          The ten horns are the shofars, a clue about the leaders of the tribes, or, the richest and wealthiest whites.
          The Ten virgins are the divided 5 and 5 who trim their wicks, fill their lamps and hide, vs the 5 who don’t, this is the ten TOES of Iron and Clay…
          Thus, the statue of Nebuchadnezzar was the best clue of the truth of Babylon… it is the world system of money, politics and religion, that all supports themselves in keeping you in MYSTERY and confusion, divided and unable to stand up to the Head of Gold, that makes the Rule of GOld, that you love, that causes you to bow down to money, and the root of evil, is the LOVE of money.
          Now the Revelation of Enoch and the Gnosis of Jesus has come forth, to light the way to the power in the Rocks, the Knowledge of God, that overcomes the MYSTERY of the Mother of Harlots. Question; If the Roman Church is the Mother, who are the daughters?
          To ask a preachers the deeper questions leaves you with one answer, always; “It is a MYSTERY of God my son”. The mystery of God is finished. The statue, and the Rule of Gold, can only be torn down by the Golden Rule.
        HOOAH!
      51. Swiss people are the ultimate preppers, They have a bomb shelter in every house and food supply for the WHOLE polulation for 2 ( yes TWO ! ) YEARS.
      52. @Obummer paycheck. Have you ever considered you might be overpaid to start with? I mean, what do you do? I am not trying to be a smart ass but rather I am serious. You are saying you’re going to drop things that most of us already have. All the things you mention are treats that I have only once in a while anyway. Most on here are in no position to fight for a pay raise of the level you speak of. I am just curious what you do. I know this. Without the “system” , you wouldn’t earn a damn dime. Honestly , I see people like you as a big part of the problem. You work for someone, probably either a government service or something that would not survive without government. I do agree with you about the n’s though. It is pathetic that it has come to this. As far as I am concerned everyone can kiss my ass, and go to hell. I abhor the whiny, useless, spoiled , ninny, homo, bloody goofs that 99 percent of those among us are. You can all go to hell as far as I am concerned . Eat crap . stooges.
        • Hey Eeder, why are you ragging on ObummerPaycheck so hard? He and his wife were part of the working class that Obama claimed he wouldn’t rage war on (but we knew it was coming for the working folks). Don’t tell us that you’ve never eaten a meal out or bought something — give the guy a break!
          ObummerPaycheck isn’t the REAL problem. And obviously ObummerPaycheck isn’t part of the Gimme-Dat entitlement types, many who never worked a day in their life but are ENTITLED to what you and I earned and saved for.
          ObummerPaycheck gets it! Maybe it came late for him and his wife but now they’re cutting expenses and see that “the free market” consumerism doesn’t work out with Obama’s Marxist policy.
          @ObummerPaycheck — why are you saving money???? Why aren’t you taking that increasingly-worthless fiat USD and preparing for even worse times ahead? Buy foods that store for long periods of time. Prepare for tomorrow with cash today. And welcome here.
        • I work for myself..so am I still an asshole?
          please say yes, I have worked very hard to be one.
          • 2 self-employed here in our home VRF…we are the biggest assholes because we just will not give up and take the mark.
            God will tell us when to give up…that day will NEVER come.
        • @edeer….
          You suffer from class envy. Maybe you should try alittle harder and carry your weight too. What we need in the USA is more workers and tax-payers, and not more ‘bottom’ feeders.
          The United States is creating more welfare rats. We need jobs and a very strong dollar. Get mad at leadership since 2006 and not at those trying to do something positive. Do your part and you wont be so angry.
          I wish you well. Let us know later how you are doing.
          • Ugly = pile of flocking sheeite
            • @eeder–I was the one that gave you a thumbs up. Maybe I am what you say.
              But I choose to put some food away each month and trust that more than a few dollars in savings that is earning nothing. Food will inflate 14% or more this year so I have decided to give myself a 14% raise by putting a few dollars into food.
              You are on a preparedness website where bloggers discuss stuff on being prepared. I trust food now more than the future of the US dollar. Is there something wrong with that? Why dont you elaborate your situation? Are you working? Are you unemployed and trying? Are you on welfare and hate those that work and do not give away 100% of their income? Are you disabled and living on basically nothing?
              If you elaborate, then a better discussion can follow.
        • Actually eeder makes a good point….maybe not in the way most want to hear it. Take an inventory of your neighbors and see how many live on government largesse either directly or contractually. I think most will be surprised how many paychecks are affected by government money even indirectly. I did a neighborhood survey a month ago and lo and behold…seven out of seven households were affected in one way or another by government money.
          • precisely my point anonymous. and the fact they won’t accept it. I certainly don’t envy any of you on here either. I just think it’s wrong that we have so many over payed useless people who think they are hard done by. It is obvious most of you , other than anonymous, are bright enough to understand. I will shed no tears for you later.
            • @eeder:
              What makes you think most of us are over payed. I have been working since age 8 and been paying into SS. It is not like stuff was handed to me as I see many getting something-for-nothing.
              The best you can do is at least try.
              I have decided to invest some monies into my food storage and into seeds and not all of my mutual funds. In fact, I have 4 mutual funds and I am cashing 3 of them and keeping one.
              Not long ago folks were foolish to not prepare. Ypu were considered an idiot if you didnt know how to get food and store it. Just recently, we dumb Americans have taken our food and financial services for granted. We have been spoiled and the piper is coming soon. And it wont be pretty.
              Dont shed a tear. I am not expecting it because folks with your attitude will be the most helpless again. If you want anger, I head to work everyday and pay taxes that is about 50% of my pay. Then I see those that dont work at all, yet they get free medical, free food, and pay zero for their kids education.
              And spare me. In my town, I know folks on the system for over 30 years now. I dont mind help when needed, but many have zero intentions of looking for work.
              The best you can do is at least try. Dont give up yet and also dont hate others that are trying.
              • Yes ugly, you have just shown me you were over payed. I certainly wouldn’t be able to use you! I have not given up on anything either, other than sheeple like you ever seeing the light of day. Don’t mistake my disdain for people like you as envy. frankly , if I had to live in your existence, I would take actions to cease living. You are not only part of the problem, but you are the problem.
              • @edeer….Couldnt reply on yours, so I did it on mine. Your posts have hate and envy on all that I have read. Also, Im not over-payed. With two jobs, my income is in the 5 digits. The diffence is that my debt is lower than my wage, thus I have some disposable income.
                I dont know your situation, but you should shift your anger to the govt policies that are lowering jobs and destroying the dollar. Many Americans hopes now rests on taxing the worker ever higher so there is govt monies. The govt is broke and that is why they are printing money.
                edeer, you will get your laughs as USA is in socialism and soon to be communism. But dont assume they will need you either. You can starve just as easy as I can. And you could get in the middle of social unrest just as easy as the rest of us.
                As I have said, I hope I am 100% wrong. But the fiscal actions speaks louder than their words. Be happy, and try your best.
              • Ugly, I am so far ahead of you it is embarrassing. Please stop making a fool of yourself. You aint been around here long , have you.
              • eeder – What effin business of your is it what ANYONE else does for a living? Please take the actions you mentioned.
              • @gaylord327, why don’t you stick a blowtorch up your ass and rotate on it? I know what you do. You get paid to troll , now don’t you?
      55. The Price Of “Collective Trauma”: Greece At The Brink of Civil War
        Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 7:39PM
        “I’m wondering how much this society can endure before it explodes,” said Georg Pieper, a German psychotherapist who specializes in treating post-traumatic stress disorders following catastrophes, large accidents (including the deadliest train wreck ever in Germany), acts of violence, freed hostages…. But now he was talking about Greece.
        He’d spent several days in Athens to give continuing education courses in trauma therapy for psychologist, psychiatrists, and doctors—for free, this being a country in crisis. He was accompanied by Melanie Mühl, an editor at the daily paper Frankfurter Allgemeine. And in her report, she decries how “news consumers” in Germany were fed the crisis in Greece.
        It was “no more than a distant threat somewhere on the horizon,” defined by barely understood terms, such as bank bailout, haircut, billion-euro holes, mismanagement, Troika, debt buyback…. “Instead of understanding the global context, we see a serious-faced Angela Merkel getting out of dark limos in Berlin, Brussels or elsewhere, on the way to the next summit where the bailout of Greece, and thus of Europe, is to be moved forward another step” [also read… The Curse Of The “Irreversible” Euro].
        But what is really happening in Greece is silenced to death in the media. Pieper calls this phenomenon a “giant feat of repression.”
        * see link below …
        ~N.O. ;0P
        • “Collective trauma” is how Pieper described the society whose bottom had been pulled out from under it. “Men are particularly hard hit by the crisis,” Pieper said, as their pay had been decimated, or their jobs eliminated. They’re seething with anger at the utterly corrupt system and a kleptocratic government that have done so much damage to the country; and they’re furious at the international bailout politics whose money only benefits big banks, not the people.
          These men take their anger to their families, and their sons take that anger to the street. Hence the growing number of violent gangs that attack minorities. The will to survive in humans is enormous, Pieper points out, and so humans are able to overcome even incredibly difficult situations. To do that, they need a functioning society with real structures and safety nets. But in Greece, society has been hollowed out for years to the point where it is collapsing.
          “In such a dramatic situation as can be observed in Greece, the human being becomes a sort of predator, only seeing himself and his own survival,” Pieper said. “Sheer necessity pushes him into irrationality, and in the worst case, this irrationality transcends into criminality.” At that stage in society, he said, “solidarity is replaced by selfishness.”
          And so he wondered, “how much this society can endure before it explodes.”
      56. Guest Post: The Greeks Have Already Dumped the Euro
        Via Michael Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,
        [ZH: We first noted the shift to a barter economy that is occuring in Greece back in April. But Mike’s excellent update below shows that this ‘barter’ has progressed to a new ‘alternative’ currency]
        Really fascinating article about how many cities and communities in Greece have already moved on from the euro to bartering as well as alternative currencies. The city of Volos, 200 miles north of Athens with a population of 170,000 is highlighted in the article due to the size of its alternative money market centered around a local currency call the Tem. This sort of behavior will be the wave of the future in all countries, as Central Bank currencies are debased into extinction. It’s interesting because while I was in Crested Butte over New Year’s I noticed they have a local currency going there called Crested Butte Bucks and I was really surprised to see that you can spend them pretty much anywhere in town. I also highlighted this trend in my post earlier this year English City of Bristol Launches its Own Local Currency.
        Now, from the Guardian:
        It’s been a busy day at the market in downtown Volos. Angeliki Ioanitou has sold a decent quantity of olive oil and soap, while her friend Maria has done good business with her fresh pies.
        But not a single euro has changed hands.
        In this bustling port city at the foot of Mount Pelion, in the heart of Greece‘s most fertile plain, locals have come up with a novel way of dealing with austerity – adopting their own alternative currency, known as the Tem.
        “Frankly the Tem has been a life-saver,” said Christina Koutsieri, clutching DVDs and a bag of food as she emerged from the marketplace. “In March I had to close the grocery store I had kept going for 27 years because I just couldn’t afford all the new taxes and bills. Everyone I know has lost their jobs. It’s tragic.”
        For local officials such as Panos Skotiniotis, the mayor of Volos, the alternative currency has proved to be an excellent way of supplementing the euro. “We are all for supporting alternatives that help alleviate the crisis’s economic and social consequences.”
      58. @BI 7.8 sq in Alaska. Nice call in the post yesterday.
      59. @Obummer–
        I agree with some except parts of #1 and #5. The locally owned restaraunts and sports pubs are ran by folks that are working very hard and trying to survive as well. I can see skipping the big-chained stuff.
        • We boycott corp and progressive lib/soc/com businesses and i know every fucking one of them in my community.
          We do the best that we can for our working friends/biz owners.
          I am not in the left/right thing…we are walking away.
          Many people in my community have come alive and realize that the left and right are the same and they are pissed.
          Those who were on the right that is…the commie party gave up years ago as the demons (left) hi-jacked their party.
          They want everyone to thing globally…screw them.
          Think locally to survive. Try to get things to survive within 30 miles or less from your home.
          “don’t go down without one helluva fight.”
      60. My new strategy… I pulled together many man to form a new company that builds companies… .coms’
        You will never win or save your way to security.
        You have to be an owner. Set the rules.
        You are all slaves (employees) as part of their “Human Resources”.
        What happened to Personnel?
        Turnover is the key in NWO companies…never let folks gather, rally…keep them alone, afraid and with a feeling of helplessness.
      61. PM’s are fine to have if you can. You must first live through what is coming.
        Then after some kind of normalcy returns, it would be wise on your part not to boost, or rub it into the faces of the poor, as has been done in the past. I feel this time one might have to pay a high price to do so.
        I don’t care how much PM’s you have; absolutely no one will come out on the other side of what is upon us now RICH, just remember greed has gotten us to this point in time now.
      62. Controversial Interview Exposes 5 Signs Stocks Will Collapse in 2013
        “After putting $803,436 in Obama’s re-election campaign, a media giant attempted to keep Americans from seeing the video by banning it from their sites,” stated Aaron DeHoog, the financial publisher who is unapologetic for the release of controversial footage that has gained international attention.
        The video DeHoog is referring to is a stunning interview with famed economist Robert Wiedemer, author of the New York Times best-selling book Aftershock.
        Wiedemer, best known for correctly predicting the collapse of the U.S. housing market, equity markets, and consumer spending that almost sank the United States during the “Great Recession”, provides disturbing evidence in the video interview for 50 percent unemployment, a 90 percent stock market crash, and 100 percent annual inflation . . . starting as soon as 2013.
        When the host of the interview expressed disbelief in Wiedemer’s claims, he calmly displayed five indisputable charts to back up his predictions
        link below
        • VRF
          Unemployment is “unofficially” at 23% and rising.
          Inflation is “unofficially” at roughly 11% and rising.
          according to John Williams shadowstats
          Indeed, the DJIA is not a marker for the real economy but is the marker the PTB utilize to propagandize otherwise..
          Let me ask you this…with average weekly new unemployment claims @370k…would that not equal an average monthly jobs lost at 1.48 million?
          and then equate 155k jobs added for the month..we are still at 1.3 million jobs net lost for the month..
          yet unemployment remains at 7.8%???
          am I living in a parallel universe or what?
          possee
          • no…just a hundred year + lie/deception.
            and we fell for it…but not anymore.
          • Oh I totally agree, (you know that)
            I was just posting this to show the fact that they are living in a lie..yet they still admit (at least in this article) that we are headded stright to the cleaners..
            Your math is spot on..I probably should have talked on my points on that article, I was running short on time and thought it was food for thought, looks like it got your attention too..and that is a good thing, you bring up (brought up) what is the elephant that is really standing in the room, and they will not acknoledge it at all will they?
            yeah I feel the same way..Im so sick of being lied to, that I dont hardly believe anything that comes out of media, in any shape or form, or what comes out of DC..same pile of bullshit
            • VRF
              Basic cognitive thought/inductive and deductive reasoning/questioning everything are all eliminated from the average mindset nowadays..except for sites like this and others..
              We are not the norm but the marginalized exceptions to the rule…and soon to be further marginalized and subsequently removed from the equation should the central planners succeed..
              I have been watching the absurd spin on the economy now for years..and “in your face out&out and lies/ obfuscation of basic math..and nearly all accept this as fact?
              Thank God I had basic math in my youth…
              Just when will this all end??
              possee
              • My thought is, It will “end” when we (at least 80% or more) stop accepting the bullshit..
                OR..
                Civil war knocks out the bullshitters ability to BS us.or they eat lead
      63. @Obummer–
        One more thing. I was in debt about 7 years ago. I worked that debt down, way down. This has given my family about an extra $700 of income per month. We support our local businesses and sports pubs. Also, with my extra income I am preparing for a very difficult future.
        My advice, if possible, is to work on your debt. In todays USA, that is your only pay raise. None of us workers will ever see raises that matches taxes, costs, infaltion, and dollar deflation. Your best hope is debt reduction. Less debt is money in your pocket.
        • @ugly, you are one dumb lunch bucket loony! You are the definition of the word sheeple! Do you know how silly you are? Please tell me you are not serious! About me “envying” you! Dude, you are what I call a white collar ( I think, barely) lunch bucket numbskull! You are absolutely worthless, and furthermore, you haven;t a fraction of what I possess in real terms. Again, if I had to live in your shoes, I would, without doubt put a bullet in my own head! Let me know how it all works out , yes do tell. Dude, you trolls are getting more insane daily. Or the sheep are getting too plentiful! what you got boy, .223, .308, 30-06, .45, .50. 12 guage, 9mm, speak up boy! flocking idiot!
          • Judging by the number of red thumbs you are getting, it looks like you are the troll!!!!
      64. @ iowa…..good information……good to know who these people are.
        • You know the reason the White House was burnt down in 1812?
          THE 20 YEAR CHARTER FOR THE 1ST FEDERAL RESERVE ENDED IN 1811 AND CONGRESS SAID NO TO REINSTITUTING ANOTHER.
          I FUCKING HATE REDCOATS, BANKSTERS, ZOMBIES, AND COMMIES!
          sorry, few years now i’ve been swearing like a drunken sailor who learned the skipper is a pychopath on lsd
      65. Farmland, guns,food and other presps can be confiscated legally by the government (and of course illegally by any old bandito with a pistol) in the US in a time of emergency.
        However, the value of those confiscatable preps can quite possibly be stored on 1 or 2 little credit card sized sheets of Gold or as time will show of Silver.
        So after they confiscate all that you have including your land, guns, food, bandaids, and other preps you have worked so diligently to prepare (and for you “Rambo” types, your lives as well)… you will have simply nothing left. Having nothing means almost a certain death by starvation or by other means
        However, you had purchased and thene hidden 1 or 2 these little sheets of gold/silver somewhere where they could not find and confiscate them, then you would have that opportunity (after the confiscation occurs and the danger passes) to come back find and use that little sheet to re-acquire those supplies you had lost. This thereby insures your survival to live and fight another day.
        Do not underestimate the power of gold and silver as viable and portable SHTF insurance policies that will still work when all of your other primary plans and preps have failed.
        • John Galt,
          They won’t be taking my farm land, guns, preps or even a piece of horse shit without killing me first. My life’s work, my home, my animals, my american dream come true. If and when they try that crap, maybe then americans will stand up and push them back into the slime hole where they came from. How much will the american ass hole take before they rebel? I know, when they don’t get their free money and stuff. What a shit hole this country is turning into. I still fly the american flag and on my property you are a free american. Commie pigs, just try to take what is mine and not yours. The commie in chief is not my leader, he works for me and as far as I’m concerned, he’s fired.
          • standing with you and millions of others.
        • The legality of the corporate government comes only through the passing of statutes and regulations under the “color of law”. These directly conflict with our inalienable rights and therefore are moot. The state owns nothing legitimately. It traffics solely in stolen goods. Disregard their “laws” at your own peril or combine forces to resist. All communication for the time being should be done by “snail mail” as public forums are compromised.
        • Maybe, Maybe not, John Galt!! What are your supplies gonna cost you after the coming SHTF??
          I am secure in having mine at a 2008-2012 price tag–not an inflated 2013 or worse price.
      67. just passed a new total gun ban in mexico!!!!The tale being spun, is that all private gun ownership is now banned. the rest of the story will appear later.
        Really!!!! what perfect timing!!!
        • Hahhhaha, yeah ..good luck with that..
          make sure those thousands upon thousands of guns that Obama and Holder sent down there get picked up..
      68. http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/failed/banklist.html
        The 10 PLANKS stated in the Communist Manifesto and some of their American counterparts are…
        1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes.
        Americans do these with actions such as the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes. Also the Bureau of Land Management (Zoning laws are the first step to government property ownership)
        2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
        Americans know this as misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933; and various State “income” taxes. We call it “paying your fair share”.
        3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
        Americans call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.
        4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
        Americans call it government seizures, tax liens, Public “law” 99-570 (1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of “terrorists” and those who speak out or write against the “government” (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process. Asset forfeiture laws are used by DEA, IRS, ATF etc…).
        5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
        Americans call it the Federal Reserve which is a privately-owned credit/debt system allowed by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) another privately-owned corporation. The Federal Reserve Banks issue Fiat Paper Money and practice economically destructive fractional reserve banking.
        6. Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the hands of the State.
        Americans call it the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in 1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, and Executive orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated driver’s licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.
        7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
        Americans call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture… Thus read “controlled or subsidized” rather than “owned”… This is easily seen in these as well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.
        8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
        Americans call it Minimum Wage and slave labor like dealing with our Most Favored Nation trade partner; i.e. Communist China. We see it in practice via the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two “income” family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920’s, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000.
        9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of population over the country.
        Americans call it the Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public “law” 89-136. These provide for forced relocations and forced sterilization programs, like in China.
        10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.
        Americans are being taxed to support what we call ‘public’ schools, but are actually “government force-tax-funded schools ” Even private schools are government regulated. The purpose is to train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based “Education” . These are used so that all children can be indoctrinated and inculcated with the government propaganda, like “majority rules”, and “pay your fair share”. WHERE are the words “fair share” in the Constitution, Bill of Rights or the Internal Revenue Code (Title 26)?? NO WHERE is “fair share” even suggested !! The philosophical concept of “fair share” comes from the Communist maxim, “From each according to their ability, to each according to their need! This concept is pure socialism. … America was made the greatest society by its private initiative WORK ETHIC … Teaching ourselves and others how to “fish” to be self sufficient and produce plenty of EXTRA commodities to if so desired could be shared with others who might be “needy”… Americans have always voluntarily been the MOST generous and charitable society on the planet.
        Do changing words, change the end result? … By using different words, is it all of a sudden OK to ignore or violate the provisions or intent of the Constitution of the united States of America?????
        The people (politicians) who believe in the SOCIALISTIC and COMMUNISTIC concepts, especially those who pass more and more laws implementing these slavery ideas, are traitors to their oath of office and to the Constitution of the united States of America… KNOW YOUR ENEMY …Remove the enemy from within and from among us.
      69. Mac & everyone, O/T but extremely important.
        It is not over in Illinois. The Illinois gun-grabbers are at it again this weekend for Round #2.
        The state of Illinois ‘test case’ for entire America is unfolding. Illinois Conceal Carry has an
        updated alert on their site.
        From a LE blog, a bit of background on this:
        There He Goes Again
        Eddie Acevedo, state rep and Chicago cop on a Leave-of-Absence, who didn’t mind having a gun himself when he was confronted by gang bangers in his neighborhood a few years ago (and if we recall, actually shot at his “attackers” who were never caught or identified…hmmmm) is spearheading another assault on you being able to defend yourself, your home and your loved ones:
        After getting nowhere in the Senate, the gun controllers have taken their campaign to destroy your rights to the Illinois House.
        Earlier today, Amendment #1 to SB2899 was introduced in the Illinois House of Representatives. Sponsored by rabidly anti-gun Rep. Eddie Acevedo, the amendment would do two things to you:
        1. It would pick your pocket to pay for the confiscation and destruction of your own guns.
        2. It would ban more than 50% of the rifles and more than 80% of handguns owned by Illinois citizens.
        THIS BILL WILL BE VOTED ON BY THE HOUSE JUDICIARY 1 COMMITTEE ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON – YOU MUST ACT NOW!
        The Illinois State Rifle Association leading the charge against this insanity perpetrated by the anti-gun, anti-self defense leftists.
        Remember, these are the same people who are under a Federal Court Order to develop a workable Concealed Carry Law for Illinois residents within the next 5 months, yet they can meet on a Sunday (which they never do during regular sessions) to attempt to ban firearms en masse.
        Surf over to the websites and call your elected idiots to knock off the bullshit that is just going to waste more taxpayer money.
        They Failed in the Senate – Now Gov. Quinn & Chicago Mayor Emanuel Will Attempt to Push Firearm Ban Through the IL House of Reps.
        Senate sponsors could not find the votes for HB815 and HB1263 before recessing for the weekend. However, that has not stopped Gov. Quinn and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel from trying to pass a Chicago-style gun ban during the lame duck session.
        The House will reconvene Sunday evening at 5 pm. and we expect a strong push to pass. the gun ban and get it back to the Senate for vote before the deadline on Wed., Jan. 9.
        The bills will include banning most semi-auto handguns, rifles, and shotguns, plus restrictions on public shooting ranges that will close most if not all ranges in Illinois.
        What Can You Do To Stop This Assault On Your Rights? Keep the Phone Lines Hot!
        Please call your State Representative’s Springfield and district offices over the weekend and urge them to oppose these outrageous attempts to infringe on our Second Amendment rights.
        Ask them to vote NO on SB2899. As soon as we know which committee will hear the bill, you will be asked to file a witness slip to voice your opposition in the committee hearing.
        To find out whom your State Representative is call 217-782-2000
        CALL
        Mayor Emanuel: (312) 744-3300
      71. @ mad…….I see your point but the ability to aquire p.m.’s doesn’t cost much at all….you can goto a reputable coin dealer and buy 1 silver dime ( 90% silver )for a little over $2 each. I know people that don’t make much $$ at all that buy p.m.’s ……they just see what they have left at the end of the month….goto the coin shop…and get as many silver dimes as they can afford…..then they do the exact same thing next payday…and so on….eventually you have quite a few silver dimes saved up.
        I like your idea of having booze for barter as well…..I realize some people don’t make as much $$ as others..and thats fine…but most people can find a way to sock away 20-30 bucks a month….buy silver with it!
      72. @Obummerpaycheck,
        If we had an icon for clapping hands, you got it…
      73. If the SHTF, surely we NEED food water, fuel & shelter?
        Gold will NOT buy anything in a collapse situation, however if you have tinned food, you would be able to exchange that for valuable items!
      74. I just purchased a gold combibar before this article came out. I have a lot of .9999 silver because it is cheaper and would be easily traded. I have bullets, beans, and bandaids already. I already need to start eating some MREs I bought in 2008 before they expire. I decided that rather than save in a bank, I would rather have something of value in hand that won’t expire…
        • I forgot the fourth “b” booze. Got everclear, brandy, beam, and rum…
