I read a study awhile back (I wish I could site the source but I can’t remember). Anyway there are three types of people…realists, optimists and pessimists. The optimists died in the furnaces because they kept hoping that their situation would change. The pessimists died because that’s what the figured would happen to them anyway. But…the interesting part is that the realists lived. They lived because they could look at what was happening around them with 20/20 vision, so to speak, and adjust their lives accordingly. I see things aren’t bad enough in Detroit, now the police are exploring a New York City/Nazi style “stop and frisk” policy to supposedly get weapons off the streets.
Detroit has descended into a social and economic black hole and police want to arbitrarily and randomly stop honest people on the street and subject them to a pat-down without probable cause or a warrant. Do we need anymore proof as to where this is leading?

There is no way for the government to keep this economic charade going under the present lack of GDP growth, high unemployment, rising inflation, and national debt. They will be forced to take more from those of us who still have jobs.

I understand your position, however, the term “Enemy Combatant”, was conjured up at the end of WW2, to redefine the status of German POWs, so the allies, and thier masters could get around the POW treatment protocols of the Geneva Convention.
And, they used the supposed status of “Disarmed Enemy Combatant”, to starve and deny medical treatment to those POWs, who during the war, followed the Geneva Convention. 1.5 MILLION German POWs died in allied captivity, and no the average German soldier did not deserve to be starved to death, for fighting in the war. Those judged guilty of “war crimes” and then some, were executed for what they had done.
The term “Enemy Combatant” can be used to label anyone here in the US, to justify denial of legal due process. Be careful what you wish for.

006: The data is out there including official news reports from scientists dating back to 1983; when it was first spotted. It was estimated to be a brown dwarf 50 billion miles out at that time by American scientists.
Later reports in 1991 indicated it was only 10 billion miles out. If that were true it would have been here by now. Disinformation from a government troll I suspect.
Hard to say for sure as a “lid” has been placed upon any official data from the USA NASA, but Russian scientists are confirming its existence.
50 billion miles out at 175,000 mph would calculate an ETA of 2015. Maybe it was not quite so far away. Maybe its moving slower than that which I estimated.

There are plenty of real problems out there that need to be considered. So many that is unnecesary to create unsubstantiated ones. You are not the only person who has brought up, in my opinion, incredulous things to concern ourselves with. We have no need to create more incentive for us to prepare when there are REAL problems.
Should I worry about Jack booted thugs kicking in my door because I think for myself? Not yet. They have real buttheads doors to kick in, I’m not a criminal nor do I fear a visit from dope dealers. However I do fear the unprepared trying to break in my door to eat my beans.
Do I fear CPS taking kids from home schools? Hell no, they are still staffed with incompetents and who wants to watch someone else’s kid for low wages? However I do fear the government lowering educational standards to aid in the dumbing down of Americans. Slavers would deny education to their charges as a means of keeping them ignorant. Do I fear a brown dwarf star zooming towards Earth that no one can see, even amateur astronomers? No, but I do fear if there genuinely was an earth ending body out there the government would likely not tell us but I think Joe Astronomer would.
I certainly fear an economic upheaval, theological upheaval, energy upheaval and civil war where man is concerned and of course there is the possible ice age and certain natural disasters to prepare for.

DK…that is a possibility-sort of like the moon reflecting light from the sun, which may be another reason that we can’t always view it. However, if it’s not reflecting light due to positioning of our sun or it’s own position, then it would not be viewable by traditional telescopes, hence infrared.

Jerrytbg: No I didn’t know that. The data that I have read says that comets usually run at about 100k MPH and that some are as fast as 200k mph.
For the comets to whiz by earth, they would have to be traveling about 100K mph as the earth moves through space at 60k mph. If they were traveling at less than 60k mph (1/3 of 175Kmph), they would not be able to whizz past US.

Smokin. I believe the legend of Nibiru is that it has an exact orbit opposite as earth about the sun, but on the other side of sun. Thus, we never see it because the sun is always blocking it because our orbits are the same, always 180 degrees.
Kind of like how we see only one side of the moon, never the dark side.
Also, it is possible that Nibiru is composed of dark matter. That is, matter that exists but cannot be seen because it absorbs light rather than reflecting it.

NASA did send a probe to look at the space behind the Sun some years ago, specifically to test the Nemesis theory and they have reported that no “twin exists”.

Sean: Yes. But how far out it really was and how fast it is really moving is still conjecture for me. It has been photographed in the Infrared. That is a fact.
There is also the phenomena of the “second Sun” in photos that has been reported around the world, which if true would suggest that it is much closer. There are concerns about the orbit of the Moon being out of sync as well.
I used the 50 billion miles as that was the original estimate. The earth moves through space at 60k mph, comets 100,000 mph or more, even 200k mph. Working backwards from 2015, I came up with the 175k mph.
Is that a realistic speed? I don’t know, but it seems possible to me and within the speeds of say comets.
I accept the theory of Nibiru as a planet on an eliptical orbit very different from OUR solar system, because astronomers have found other systems with a planet with an elongated eliptical orbit. So if unusual, it is not unknown.
My personal opinion has always been that if it exists the timing might be much later, say another 5 to 15 years, to coincide with events on the ground and Biblical Prophecy.
Time is the protocol by which God catalogs eternity, so absent a really big telescope, I will anticipate its arrival when I see it visible in the sky. 🙂

The Drake “equation” is based on a load of assumptions, such as “assume” a certain percentage of “assumed” planets have conditions “assumed” necessary for life. Since we have found no other life in the universe, we have no basis to even make a wild guess as to the values of some of the values in the equation. There is no “statistical certainty” that there is any other life in the universe.

Yesterday, A/P put out the story that the 17 year old,{ still a baby you know} shooter of the 1 year old toddler in his stroller will be going on trial next month. The story is basically a hit piece against the family of the 1 year old. It cites about how the mother had taken out a life insurance policy on her kid some months before, and goes on to quote the killer’s public defender as say that the REAL blame for the infants death lies with the parents. The story begins with the sentence ” It was a tiny bullet that took the life of 1 year old Antonio{ I don’t recall the last name} this last March”
What point are they trying to make here? That it’s not as bad as shooting the kid with a .38? That some shithead public defender just can’t admit his client is an animal who’s lucky not to get the death penalty because he’s not 18? Today there’s a story about a college baseball player from Australia who was shot to death by some teenagers here in the states because they were “bored”. I suspect the shooters are black because A/P isn’t giving any names or other information about the killers. It’s too bad that they can’t find a white Hispanic guy to pin this on, these assholes could have a field day then. What the hell became of honest news reporting in America? Must be déjà vu! I was just talking about how so many people, family included, are walking around in a total oblivious state. Their trucks had HydroQuebec written on them. I was standing on my front lawn watching them and said thank you, and Long live Quebec.

Most people refuse to wake up. I’ve told people about how the Fed is creating money out of thin air to pay for the deficit. They understand intellectually that there should be hyperinflation but they have no intention of stocking up on food and supplies. That’s 4 people so far. One guy knew about that. He went out and bought some rare coins. That’s it. Another guy has talked about buying gold but he hasn’t bought any food either. I feel bad for these people but I can’t take them in after the collapse. I don’t have enough food and water to last a year if I take in any more people. If we can, we’ll take in my wife’s friend’s stepdaughter who’s 8. We like her a lot. I assume she won’t eat much.

It already goes far beyond this. I was talking with an engineer. He said that when a team was going to build a chamber to measure radiation, they had to find metal forged before WWII. Atom bomb testing has spread radioactive contamination world wide to levels that never occurred before. It even permeates forged metals. Looks like the right time to shop for a new Truck!
I stopped by the Ford Dealership yesterday, for a look at the new F- 150 pickup. Just for fun, I took it out for a test drive. I wanted to sense that new “feel” before they become extinct.
The salesman (a black man wearing an Obama “change” lapel pin) sat in the passenger seat describing the truck and all its “wonderful” options. The seats were of particular interest. He explained that the seats directed warm air to your butt in the winter and directed cool air to your butt in the summer heat. Feeling like messing with him, I mentioned that this must be a Republican truck.
Looking a bit angry, he asked why I thought it was a Republican truck. I explained that if it were an Obama truck, the seats would blow smoke up your ass year-round.
Y’all Beware! I had to walk back to the dealership. Damn guy had no sense of humor.

Thirty years ago founded a tiny little business and was told by just about everyone what a failure it would be, what a sucker and foolish dreamer I was. Today that business is global. It is not that I am so smart. Never went to business school. In fact, I never was a good student. But I knew that to grow my business, I had to seek out people who had been before me who made it happen. I also had to learn how to handle money, and it would have to be money I made myself, because the bankers and venture capitalists thought I was an idiot and never gave me a penny. (Actually a good thing).
But what really helped was the process of learning how economies really work, how banks and governments work, and how all has been purposefully engineered to benefit the true powers. The good news is that my learning was not prejudiced by business academia and by Mainstream business press. My mind was essentially a tabla rasa, not contaminated by a century of progressive propaganda. Another advantage was my country boy background, being raised by a lot of common sense folks.
Bottom line is this. It does not take a genius to understand that the world financial system is, in fact, a massive Ponzi scheme with a very finite lifespan. At 63 plus years, time has given me just a little perspective in understanding just how enormous this Gordian knot had grown, and that the unwind, if it can be called that, will be like a giant, tightly wound spring, that explosively breaks, sending devastating shrapnel everywhere. Nobody will remain completely unscathed.
But more amazing to me is the pervasive denial about the problem.,From the sheep? Well, kind of understandable. But what about the educated ones who should know better? Sick, sick, and very dangerous denial, kind of like the addict or alcoholic killing themselves with the addiction while drowning themselves in denial.
This denial truly blows me away. I have done my duty. I have spoken with loved ones and old friends. No doubt they think me the kook. No problem. Pretty quiet anymore about my preps. But interestingly, the people I run into on my travels who are serious preppers are, guess what? They are self- made business guys, realistic guys who know the score, and by nature are survivors in the dog eat dog world of business. I call it business street smarts. Actually it is just plain old common sense.
So let ”em all think we are just a bunch of flyover country rubes, stupid hayseeds without a lick of sense, you know, clinging to God and our guns, Hey, my competitors always used to think I was an ineffectual moron, and I wound up kicking their collective asses. Many say that WW3 is a paranoid delusion of all doomers. Yet already two world wars have been fought and many smaller regional wars. There is now nearing the top military per capita spend on weapons anytime in history. ONLY WW2 between about 1942-45 was higher per capita. There are three countries that can blow up the world now rather than 2. Resource competition has never been higher as there has never been as many people on the planet as now. The accuracy of missiles has never been this pinpointed. Russia and China are boxed in on many fronts. There are too many more to bog down anyone with.
Look at human nature to why WW3 is inevitable. How often does someone that is really pushed into a corner backdown and not fight back. When you very life or safety is in extreme question, would do you do? Some people will ball up like a ball python and hope the predator doesn’t start eating them coil after coil. Others will fight back to save themselves with whatever they have available. Which weapon do you fight back with against an attacker? A ball bat or a firearm. A single shot gun or a firearm with a fully loaded magazine. You use the best means of stopping your enemy. At least someone with common sense does.
Okay, from a personal point of view you defend yourself. What about from a country’s point of view? Does a country allow their enemy to surround them and literally take their borders without even a shot being fired. A weak country without means of hitting their enemy. What about a country that can hit their enemy and annihilate them? Does that country roll over or do they use the best possible weapon to stop their enemy? Does a country recognize their previous buffer zones now occupied by enemy forces as a threat? Does a country allow more territory to be taken out and further shrink their size? Does that country stop this before it is too late?
Naturally I am talking about Russia, and to some degree China. I have shown this before the vast area lost to Russia from broken NATO promises to not expand east. The comparison if the U.S. lost this much land would be about 1/4 the U.S., most of the western states. This land of Russia is mostly manned by NATO forces with strike capability into Russia. If this had been the U.S. there would have been a mass missile launch before it ever happen because the Monroe Doctrine demands this.
Russia has put much money and effort into new zigzag type ICBM’s to counter the anti-ICBM missile batteries that are basically meant to shoot down as many Russian missiles as possible. You don’t put the anti-ICBM sites in Poland to shoot down Iranian ICBM’s. You also don’t place the Alaskan anti-ICBM sites where they are to shoot down North Korean ICBM’s. You do for Russian and Chinese missiles. People don’t use a three dimensional globe to see this, they use a flat map and cannot see why these sites are where they are. ICBM’s and nuclear weapons are the cornerstone of what can stop the U.S. Conventional weapons CANNOT.
The U.S. has all the natural gas it can use for many decades. Oil is another issue. Oil tars and sands produce a very little energy net gain and should not be calculated into how much REAL recoverable oil there is in North America. Sweet and even “dirty” crude oil is something that is still in tremendous demand for everything from energy to plastics. The U.S. still feels that it can obtain the Caspian oil resources through Iran and other ex-Soviet states. Russia will not allow this as that would be the final encirclement of western and southern Russia. Georgia 5 years ago was an example of what Russia will do.
Is the U.S. going to stop messing around in Russia’s backyard? BO, and I mean BO, is almost ready to impose a non fly zone in Syria and already has crack team military in Jordan and Israel. There is this whacked out conception that Syria can be Libya and that Russia and China will just back down. That is why Russia has about 70 warships and nuclear attack submarines just off the coast of Syria along with 10 MIG fighter squadrons ready for action. That is why the long range nuclear bommber planes are now practicing hitting the west coast of the U.S. and Europe on a regular basis. That is why Russia is arming Syrian and then Hezbollah with surface to surface cruise missiles with an accuracy of about 25 feet. This is why there are almost 200,000 Russian troops ready for war.
People can talk about doomers all they want, but the harsh reality is that WW3 is now more likely than even during the Cuban Missile Crisis because of Russia, and now China. The fact is China could start all this with Japan over those islands that are disputed with Japan that are oil and natural gas rich. Remember it is all about human nature, and ME FIRST and the fear factor that gets battles going on the personal level all the way up to the global level.
I have rambled enough tonight about common sense doomers being in more touch with reality in regards to a third world war, than most people want or care to understand.

JRS- okus maximus (279-201BC) was, according to a nearly-sober uncle of mine, one of our ancestors. He was an escaped slave of Alex the Mediocre (grandfather of Alexander the Great) who made his way to Rome and became a successful chariot salesman, eventually working his way up to vice-president of sales for Calimus Worthingtonicus.
It was okus who came up with the idea of putting a mastodon on a chain and calling it ‘his dog spot.’ Calimus used the ploy very effectively in his street corner advertising for the chariot dealership. Okus was also said to have invented the first air-conditioned chariot, though historians now dispute the claim.
He was named chariot salesman of the year in 244 BC. Apparently, the honor went to his head because he quit his position at the dealership, and opened his own lot, calling it ChariotMax. He promptly went broke.
Later, okus became a respected philosopher and antique rug buyer for an Ottoman Turk who ran a tax evasion scheme in Constantinople. His record is a bit spotty after that, but okus turned up again in Rome, just before the Potato Famine. He claimed to have invented lentil soup as a substitute for the scarce potatoes.
His last years were sad ones. He lived out the remainder of his life, begging on street corners near the Parthenon, and claimed to have invented the cardboard sign. He was killed in 201 BC by an angry mob trying to stampede their way into a concert given by, ironically, distant ancestors of The Who.
Okus was buried in an unmarked grave which historians claim is located under the southeast corner of a parking lot of the Italian branch of Bank Of America. Certainly an ignominious end for such a great man….

There Is government fiscal irresponsibility The Cyprus bank haircuts where something really wrong. the climate is unstable. clatyclismic events can occur anywhere & anytime. Some good things. It was a late spring as a result my corn was planted very late. yet we had 11 days of gentle rain the last two weeks. the rain combined with ideal weather just as the corn was tasselling means im gonna have a bumper crop of field corn.However the tomatoes have suffered . Any way im not a denialist Im aware that the USA is in decline. Im aware there isn’t a viable ballot box or political solution. DOOM & GLOOM? I simply prep and grow as much of out food as I can. I think you are crazy to not at least be somewhat prepared. Not every scenario is a “doom and gloom” one. It could be a tornado coming through, a hurricane, or other weather event.
We started to prepare because of power outages caused by tornado’s, blizzards, and ice storms. 1st prep was a Honda generator. 2nd was fuel for said generator. 3rd was a disconnect at the power pole. You get the idea…. All in response to a need highlighted by a power outage.
You will not get the full effect of your needs on a 2-3 hour power outage. Try going off grid for 3-5 days. It will highlight your weaknesses. Than you will have a list of things that are needed. Once you have completed the list try going off grid 5-7 days. You will have a new list.

We had a 5 day power outage because of a ice storm. Never missed a beat. Fired up the generator. we heat with wood. the only draw back was the generator cost a lot for fuel. I seen first hand how jealous folks can be. My relatives & neighbors seen my lights on. They asked why do you have electric when we don’t. I replied Ive got a big generator. They stated I don’t hear it running. I stated I put it in the barn because of the noise and I want to keep it dry. They where mad and resentful. but that didn’t keep them from coming by and taking showers and using my electric. I should have darkened & blackouted everything. I didn’t like sharing my stuff with ingrates. Ive since downsized & moved away. I don’t know my neighbors and keep a locked gate down at the road. Tall fence with plenty of no trespassing signs & a unlisted phone number. Everything out of sight from the public road.
Both my neighbors(word used lightly)in the last year have had their propane tanks removed from their yards.
They will be in a world of hurt if there is a lengthy power outage.
I was 12 years old before we had electricity. 5 months of the year I ran my trap line before school. I hunted small game and game birds with my .22 and single shot 16 gauge. That was at the tail end of the Depression and before the war.

@ Norse Prepper. You can see on the previous article, comment #2098195 two days ago I gave southern Mexico as a target zone. This however is not a major earthquake of 6.5 or larger. It shows that the precursor earthquakes are following the pattern given in this comment. 6.1 is too small though to be classified as near a major one. Watch this list for the next two weeks. I will try to update any further plate boundary quakes to more danger zones.
