On the heels of a scathing assessment by Nigel Farage on the economic conditions in Europe which he says will ultimately lead to violent revolution, former US congressman Ron Paul and well known investor Jim Rogers weigh in on the discussion.
Undeterred by those who fail to heed his warnings, Dr. Paul suggests that global economic conditions, spearheaded by out-of-control government policies in the United States, will continue to deteriorate until such time that the whole system comes unhinged.
With financial markets hitting all-time highs, jubilation spreading throughout Wall Street, and average Mom & Pop Americans wondering if it’s time to plunge back in to stocks, Paul sees no reason for celebration.
The economy worldwide, certainly in the States, is a lot weaker than they tell us.
I believe that the unemployment rate in the United States is over 20%.
I think there’s still inflation with the dollar… Everybody knows that they’re printing $85 billion a month… that could be considered inflation.
You still have inflation, and that’s distortion… you have malinvestment… so you still have the built in problems, and we have plenty.
I would expect that there’s going to be a lot more chaos yet to come. It will not be limited to Europe. I think it will be a worldwide phenomenon.
That states won’t escape it either because there are so many gross distortions throughout the world….

Jim Rogers, also a featured speaker at the Sovereign Man offshore tactics workshop, joins forces with Ron Paul and suggests that those very policies implemented by Ben Bernanke and his global banking cohorts, are the problem, not the solution.
Rogers cites a previous exchange between Ron Paul and Fed chief Ben Bernanke, in which Bernanke outright declared that gold is not money, further cementing his reputation as nothing more than a monetary charlatan:
The present head of the central bank does not understand economics, he does not understand finance, he does not understand currencies. All he understands is printing money. His whole intellectual career has been devoted to the study of printing money. And, as you know, we have given him the printing presses.
That strategy, of course, will be disastrous. It’ll further impoverish Americans by reducing wages relative to rising prices for essential goods, while increasing the national debt to unmanageable levels.
What comes next, according to Rogers and Paul, will take the majority of the population by surprise because most people simply can’t fathom the possibility of such a thing ever happening in the Land of the Free:
Rogers: They will take our retirement accounts. They will take our 401k’s. They will say, ‘you’ve all been having such a hard time earning money in your 401k’s, so what we’re going to do is we’re going to save you.’
Paul: I don’t doubt it for a minute. They’ll do what they think is necessary. and they’ll use force, and they’ll use intimidation, and they’ll use guns. Because, you can’t challenge the state and you can’t challenge the State’s so-called right to control the money… I think that’s very possible at that time when things get a lot rockier than they are now.
There are well informed students of economics, financial markets and history. They understand that global governments, especially in Europe and the United States, have bitten off more than they can chew. And they see a continuation of the same policies that have led to the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression.
Moreover, they understand, like many other concerned and informed Americans, that when the real crash comes it will be worse than anything we’ve ever experienced before.
Tick-tock, tick-tock, the economic time (censored by BATFE) is set to go off when? Yeah, the controlled demolition is right on schedule. Little by little, then all at once, right?

I wonder how many of them are supported by borrowing and debt. There can be a great deal of activity on the surface but the underlying structure can be rotten.
I know one person I work with. He and his wife both drive nice cars but they do not own them. My car is paid for and I own all of it but is is not as nice as theirs. When one of them had a car accident, the insurance company wanted to pay the value of the car which was less than what was owed.
I think there are a lot of people struggling but putting the face of prosperity when interacting with others.

I will say that within my life I’ve seen our economy go from a value added economy to a value borrowed economy. I explain that a value added economy was when we would mine a rock, melt it down into steel, turn that steel into a toaster and sell it through Sears. We added value to that rock and that rock employed a lot of people and a lot of skills. We had jobs throughout the economic ladder and we had a chance to work our way up the ladder, we could be optimistic. Now we have to borrow money to buy a toaster from china and purchase it through in import distribution outlet like walmart. Our rocks are collecting moss and those that worked those rocks are collecting underemployment.
Don’t try to understand how this happen if you don’t want to be labeled a conspiracy nut job. By seeking understanding you will go down a rabbit hole.

Same experience here. I’ve been talking (and talking) to my kids, who smile and give me a hug, but didn’t believe me until today when my son-in-law lost his job. He was the last person his small company kept, and now he and the company are defunct. At least, the owners are able to retire for however long that will last. My daughter is still working, but probably can’t make enough to support them. I did have two friends tell me not to send them any more economic “bulletins” because they were too depressing and there isn’t anything they can do about it. Another friend said my political beliefs “bring her down” and that everything will be okay, like it always has been. What peak oil are you babbling about? There is more oil than they can refine with the estimates of the baken just being doubled not to mention the fields in Texas. If calif. ever starts pumping it’s reserves we can stop importing and start exporting.

Rick:) It’s obvious that John W. has never studied much of anything especially science and economics. The term petroleum geologists and economists in the field use is a ratio called EROEI; Energy Returned On Energy Invested. During the early days of oil the ratio was easily 100:1; that is 1 unit of energy expended to extract 100 units for sale. With most of today’s oil that ratio is far less, and minimal in some wells depending upon the ease of extraction. As you pointed out, older feilds need and extra ‘boost’ with water, steam, or carbon monoxide, all of which adds to the cost of extraction. Even with these methods, up to 1/3 of the oil in these wells is unavailable for extraction (too hard to get out). Now add the cost of refining and transportation to the current sales price and you find many fields capped because the EROEI is so small that it doesn’t pay to pump them. Bakken in N.D. is new so the return should be pretty good for a while. But all fields eventually go into decline and that’s when costs begin so climb, erroding the EROEI, and therfore, profitablility. Current prices, and technology, also make it very costly to do too much with the oil sands in Canada and our own oil shale. Both types are showing a little profit, but the key word is LITTLE.
And why isn’t Calif pumping their oil right now?
Could it be because they exopect the price to go higher?
Or is it that they do not really have it.

Oil is stored sunshine, the result of geological processes millions of years ago, and it is finite. Unless you can show me the continuous process of burying and compressing vegetation to release the oil I submit you are talking through the wrong hole.

Vicky, some people just prefer to go on with wishful thinking because things are pretty good for them and they don’t want a Debbie Downer popping their balloon every other day with another email link to catastrophe. And then, some people are having such a hard time of things that they really could not keep on going and struggling day to day if they had to face that the whole thing is going down the tubes anyway.
It really is a huge deal for someone to make that mental “switch” where they’re not working to maintain a “lifestyle”, but working instead to make it just possible to survive in the coming years. How do young people, under pressure to develop a “career” and provide for their families, keep a commitment to working hard knowing that in a sense they are going through the motions and that their “career” is just an illusion?
If so many people are having such a hard time even coming to grips with the possibility of collapse, how many people are going to totally lose their sh*t and fall to pieces when it really does happen? That’s spooky.
I think the best we can do is just give friends and family little hints here and there. Reality should already be crashing in around everyone anyway. If they can’t see what’s obvious it’s because they don’t want to.
I get you. I am trying to spread the word, yet even though most people think I am nuts, the ones that suspect something is going on are still doing nothing. I live in rural northern Michigan, and opening day of rifle season is like a holiday, so everyone has guns. Do you think I can get another person to write or call our senators? Heck no, all they say is maybe tomorrow, I am too busy today. And these are the same people last year I tried to get and go buy some extra ammo. They are asking me where to get some now, I just laugh. You think they would have learned after that. Instead, they plan their next vacation, or talk about survivor. I am about ready to give up on them. The only thing that keeps me trying is the saying that all it takes for evil to prosper is for a good person to do nothing. Sigh

After a few tries, you know the ‘word’ isn’t phasing them, so move on to others with your message.
Come back to those every now and then, but spend your time wisely on those more susceptible to the message.

I used to try to talk to my friends about having both areas, the soul and the physical body, covered by preparing now before it’s too late.
They either shyed away altogether or made smart aleck remarks like; “oh no, here he goes to preaching again”.
Nowadays I just throw in a little hint about “knowing the secret to survival” or something like that, and see if they bite. I call it “planting a seed”.
Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t; but at least they can’t come at me later with the question; “Why didn’t you warn me about this”?
Well, they can; but i can get the relief from guilt by saying, “I tried, but you never wanted to talk about it”.
One thing about being older and wiser is being able to see the world and creation in a different light, and not feeling responsible for everyone you come into contact with. I struggled with “feeling responsible” for my childrens’ future and salvation during their teenage years; until i understood the concept of “reaching the age of accountability”. After that age, everyone has to sail their own ship. They are no longer my responsibility, just my concern. God created each and everyone for His enjoyment. As flesh bodies, we just helped bring His children into the “flesh world”. We haven’t created anyone or anything, and don’t own anyone or anything. God just allows us to experience and enjoy some of His creation. After all, the life in flesh bodies is just a blink, on the grand scale of creation and eternity. Why sweat and worry about all this crap that will soon pass away anyhow?

I know exactly what you mean. There are only a few people I talk with about this; the rest of them all think I’m wearing a tin-foil sunbonnet. I feel a bit less lonely when I come to this site. I think it’s very likely that the government will confiscate retirement plans, using “the greater good” as an excuse. And that will only be a part of what is coming. Most of the time I can’t blame people for not wanting to see or hear, because it’s a very frightening thing, this changing of society and our world. I have tried to warm my family and best friends and have reminded them of what happen in Nazi Germany. They call me a crazy dooms day prepper. Like most of you, I have given up. I’m of the mindset that things are spinning out of their control. The investment class is putting their funds in the safest place available with emphasis upon safest available. That doesn’t mean that its safe but just that its the safest available.
The idea that personal wealth and possessions are protected by law for the working classes flies in the face of reality. Confiscating five dollars from many with nothing is a greater threat to the power elite than confiscating five million dollars from far fewer that historically are law abiding. Under the circumstances described in these blogs the traditional rule of law is abandoned.

I have many friends with 1.5-3+ million in their IRA / 401K and they might have a net worth of 500k above that. They vote and for the most part not for the current President. We try to raise the kids in the way we wish to see them grow and mature. I do see differences in our children though, which brings me to wonder if there is a trait that makes it easier for some young minds to be won over by the current system in place.
It certainly does not help when we have to compete with modern distractions, i.e. face glued to ipod, etc… also we have lost our moralities, when our children are surrounded by moral-less, selfish children and population in general, they may begin to see the behavior as “the norm”.

This morning at 5am I was at O’Hare airport standing in line at a coffee vendor to get some coffee before my 6am Florida flight departed. In front of me were two young women in their mid 20’s. They were loudly obsessing about how much protein was in the coffee among other complaints about calories. I stood their in abject disbelief at how hopelessly oblivious these two women seemed to be. There were so many thoughts that came to mind to tell these two, but I decided to stick with “ignorance is bliss” and said nothing. I don’t want to be the one to shatter their Utopian view of the world. They will realize reality soon enough and it will not be pleasant in the least bit. To think that the majority of American (voters) are this clueless about the actual state of the nation is frustrating to say the least.

I had a handyman do a minor carpentry job for me the other day, and tried to get him to engage in a little discussion of politics and current events.
He told me that he didn’t want to talk about politics or current events. He mumbled something that sounded pretty feeble about how ‘I’m in the public eye’, which I assumed meant that he avoided politics because he thought he might upset a customer and lose business. I chuckled at him and assured him that I wasn’t wearing a wire.
This is the sort of apathy and disinterest and malaise that is rampant today, all across our country. It wasn’t like this when I was a kid – I remember having endless discussions with people – who were in their 20s or 30s, and in those days, people weren’t afraid to express their opinions or to listen to your opinions.
Must be the fluoride in toothpaste and the water. Or, maybe we’re seeing the debilitating, long-term consequences for all that dope smoking that the Boomer generation did in the 1960s and beyond. Oh, I can believe it. That is the exact same expression that a deer gets on its face when it is suddenly blinded by a car’s headlights. In our case, though, it is the truth that blinds them. If they are mentally unprepared to even consider the truth it initiates a state of momentary paralysis. After that passes, then they immediately transition to ridicule. It is a fascinating sociological manifestation when the ignorant ridicule the educated. But then that IS a lot easier than having to really think about what is going on these days.
I stopped wasting my time telling my friends and family about what is coming. The time for them is long past. I’ve told those that needed to hear the truth years ago. I told them the crash was coming and it did in 2008; they lost a bundle and I saved a bunch. I also told folks this thing is far from over but no one wants to hear more bad news. So now I say nothing to anyone. Frankly I don’t want anyone remembering those warnings and then come looking for me when TSHTF. That’s one of the reasons I moved from a big city to a rural county. Now is the time to keep a very low profile. Remember OPSEC/COMSEC.

The frustration of having this ‘vision’ when so many people around you are blind as bats and who not only refuse to listen, but they are actually stubborn and belligerent about preferring to remain stupid and clueless – this is a very tough burden for us to carry.
What will be even harder and more painful, will be when the SHTF and these people show up at our door asking for us to help them.

Everyone here has had that very same comment made to them at one time or another. When our daughter came over to visit one day, she saw the food and water preps that we had in bedroom that we converted to a storage room. She question it and we said that we were preparing for a possible disaster of some kind where food and water might be difficult to come by. She laughed a bit but not with any malice or ridicule and then said that she would come to our house if that happened. I told her not to come with empty hands and that food, water, blankets, flashlights, batteries, and anything else useful they could bring would be appropriate. She didn’t say much after that but it was clear that she was at least THINKING about the possibility of a disaster. As the mother of 2 children, she had better give some thought to this.

Yep, that’s usually the way that a lot of things happen, including most of the SHTF scenarios. It is slow during that period of time wherein we are not really paying any attention to a problem until it becomes obvious to one and all. THEN it is a problem… but not much before that. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said Wednesday that it is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for stealing 559 pounds of explosives last month near Red Lodge.
The theft happened sometime in April when thieves broke into a U.S. Forest Service storage bunker about two miles south of Red Lodge, said Brad Beyersdorf, an ATF spokesman.
Items stolen included emulsion-type explosives, explosive cast boosters and detonating cord.

The remnants of NOAA 11719 have precessed into view in the North-East and are unimmpressive; clearly, the large detonation witnessed some two dys ago (occulated by) the Eastern limb was effectively it’s “Last Hurrah”. That said, another active area area is rotating into view at this time in the South-East quadrant. As yet there is not enough of this area visible upon which to form an assesment; it is the case though that this area (as yet unrevealed but in the margin) DOES aapear ‘bright’ in the associated STEREO imaging. Further updates will follow as the circumstance becomes clarified in available imaging..

Solar Update II,
While NOAA 11731 was in the process of emitting the aforementioned M-1.3 it DID, in fact, re-engaged and another flare, this of magnitude M-5.8 has just peaked some several minutes ago. It appears at this time that the character of this emission will be of the LDE (Long Duration Event) and therefor, though 11731 is significasntly off-center, passing to the Western limb at this point we might see this event to be geo-effective.
Commonly, it requires several hours for NASA to accurately evaluate the potential for a subsequent terrestrial interaction to occur. Updates to follow as warranted…

Per your request Brother (I PRESUME! 😉 ) here goes…
A short bit ago, an event occured ove the face of the Solar disk. that resulted in a ‘Solar Flare’…the origins of these events lie in the ‘breaking’ and thereafter subsequent re-connection of the arcs of ‘magnetic tubes’, ie “prominences” which stretch upwards from the solar suface and are clearly visible in many of the monitored spectral imaging which we receieve as a consequence of the various satellite imaging sensors arrayed around the planet.
The flare that just occured, an “M-class flare” was of the stronger sort, but NOT the strongest. The scale for all such proceeds as follows;
A-class…lowest formal defined class of flare recorded, there are smaller ones but these aren’t typically even noted…
B-class…flaring which is TEN times the emitted energy of the A-class listed above..
C-class…again, TEN times as large as the preceding listed…
M-class…TEN times larger still…begining to get to be significant at this point…
X-class…SIGNIFICANT Flaring from which there is to be a large expected Earthly effect IF the position of any region so emmitting is relatively near to the visible solar center…subject to some few other variables as well…as well as ten times larger yet…there aRE larger but they are enumerated somewhat differently proceeding as X-20, X-30, etc.
The concomittant here is that we may well see a slight subsequent disruption of terrestrial communications IF the matter (a Coronal Mass Ejection, a “CME”) ejected, which often follows on the heels of any such of the larger events such as this today lies along the path of the Earth in it’s travel along it’s orbital path.
For an M-class flare it is USUALLY NOT the case that ‘the sky is FALLING’ as it were…we do NOTE all such inasmuch as the interaction of any ejected mass as it passes around or near the Earth may alter the planetary magnetic fields such that seismic events thereafter follow as a consequence…
If that does not get at the root of your question then ask here…usually BI and I are fully amenable to further ecplanation…

X 21-30= Hurricane Category 4
X 31 or more= Hurricane Category 5
This is an estimate, but gives a good idea of what the Sun is doing with these readings.

The latest frothe Solar front is that unlike the large, powerful M-class LDE flares we saw in the spring of 2012, the flare today did NOT produce an immediate concommitant decrease in solar electron flux, or increase in solar proton flux, ie…that likely, the total effect we see here will not be of the LARGE sort.
I noted the dearth (absence) of otherwise normal seismic over the last 24 hours and was just about to ‘shout-out’ to you here…thanks for ‘beating me to the punch’!
I am otherwise involved for a bit and do not beleive that we wil see anything notable in the next few hours…from anything, as it usually takes a while for a region to ‘re-charge as it were. The only possible exception to that currently would be IF 11734 elected to get ‘frisky’…that WOULD be worrisome…it’s quite large at this stage, a potential X-flare just sitting there, it is. I’ve been a little pre-occupied getting ready for my up-coming move so I didn’t see your post-in. Perhaps this will help (addtionally, there is a post to BI at the pag bottom, below on this subject)
When you look at the Sun, imagine the area which is proximally centered on same, roughly HALF the width thereof…this IS a BAD region from which a flare may “detonate”…the further away from that you go from THAT region, the better things get. In the missive to BI below, and in his missive as well, there are a variety of details thereon which should serve to answer your question. In short, anythinng which emitted from the ‘danger zone’ descibed which exceeded X-10, would BE a casue for concern…a planetary “Grid-wiper” would be likely anything above an X-30 within same.
Various estimations exists for the Carrington Event, as you might expect, in that day and age we didn’t exactly have ‘state-of-the-art’ instrumentation so it’s a ‘guessing game’. IF you search the web there are ACADENIC papaers which attempt to do just that…the C-event had characteristics of everything from and X-30 to an X-68…you’d have to read the papers to get a feel for it Friend.
As an anecdote here, which should be interesting to you, at least some stretches of rail lines in the North-East gad the butt ends of the rails themsleves ‘spot-welded’ together by the effects of the ground currents that were flowing after the CME from the C-event occured. Yep, that’s what I said, “Railroad rails, welded together ”

Suprise!!…The genitive source of the second, much larger flare was NOT NOAA 11731!! Instead, it WAS the relatively, non-threatening remnants of the newly emerged, previously enumerated NOAA 11719.
These coincidences ARE rare, but do happen. AT THIS point additional vigilance with respect to NOAA 11734 is warranted as not infrequently these things…events seperated by VAST distances across the Solar face are indicative of ‘hidden’ processes within the Solar body which are so manifest, unexpectedly…Watchfullness here Y’All…

Two years at most by my calculations. The currency printing wars will have peaked at that point wherein either a global currency will be established or those owing the most American debt and having a reserve of gold will form a coalition or independently, think China – Japan, and U.S. currency will be bumped as the worlds dollar.

I just want to apologize for being crasp with you over the IFAK. It just struck a cord with me, that’s all. I’ve been in the mess, more than once. Depending on situation, you may need to drop gear to just survive, but what you won’t drop is your FLC where your IFAK should be attached on your left side or wherever you can reach with your opposite hand.
We’re all in this mess together, I’m just trying to give you some real world advice. A real IFAK won’t ruin in water, banddaid kits, sure.

I don’t hear anything but rap music and the squealing of tires at the local bar. This is a depressed area, and I think everyone is already too numb to react. The nearest “larger” town has just declared a policy of free school lunches for every single student because almost 90% of the student body qualifies for free or reduced lunches. This is just incredible. More incredible is the jockeying of the local school board to make sure they don’t lose out on other government perks such as Title One and after school programs. We are so doomed.
DOW is up to 15,000 on very low trading volume. This is a suckers rally– look at the records of insider selling, the retail trade is being suckered back in and some are leveraging up buying on margin…
Karl Denninger brought up a good point on the unemployment figures and Zero Hedge touched on it as well– # of jobs may be up but the number of hours worked is going down. Denninger calculated it out and the month over month drop is equivalent to 700,oo jobs being lost. I think the number Zero Hedge’s article was in the 500 or 600K range. That is bad folks! And that was .2 drop going from 34.6 to 34.5.. I fully expect that to gravitate downward to around 30-32 by the end of the year…
@CL, Good points. The actual unemployment should be at 20% if you were to take into account the retiring baby boomers (as if any of them can really retire) and the ungodly amount of people who have worked the Social Security Disability system when or while receiving unemployment. As for the low volume you are correct, it is a sucker bet to get the people to re-invest so they can lose it all. The people on Closing Bell, not Steve Santelli, are nothing but shills for Berkshire Hathaway and all the investment houses including the real enemy of the people: Morgan Stanley. And do not discount old Al Gore / Dan Quail manipulations through Ally Bank who are now working the Feds to continue to print more money so that inflation kicks in and with the devaluation of the dollar which means cheaper debt. The whole thing stinks!

Another point I wanted to make is that at the height of the depression the unemployment figures was at 23.6 %. The way they calculated back then has been so convoluted for political purposes that you cannot even make a comparison to the way it is now calculated. Suffice to say if you used the way they calculated back then we would be at 20 % plus. The U6 numbers for last month are 14.5 but that once again does not include those on SSDI. If you threw that into the mix you will be well over 20 %.

Sometimes – depending on the speed of your connection to the Net it may take upwards of several seconds to actually register…also, from personal experiance here, at times of heavy traffic (a lot of Folk posting in is a sign of that) then sometimes it doesn’t seem to register at all. Usually at that point I close the browser and reload it…seems to work.
Hope that helps, soemwehat…Damn, but it IS aggravating when you TRY to do something and it just gives you a dumb look, like ‘Who Me?!’ 😉

WE ARE SURVIVALISTS

I am a survivalist and by nature a survivalist is an OPTIMIST. I do not
have one pessimistic bone in my body. If what I just said sounds odd to you
then you are not yet a survivalist and you do not understand the modern
survivalist at all. It has been very difficult to communicate to the public
and the mass communications media, the concept of an optimistic, hopeful
survivalist.
A fireman is a fireman, not because he believes everything will burn, but
because he believes much can be saved. Doctors don’t believe in death, they
believe in life, and a survivalist is not a survivalist becuase he believes
everything must be destroyed and everyone must die, he believes that life and
freedom can be saved, if people of good will are prepared. A fireman does not
start fires, a doctor does not make disease and a survivalist does not make
disaster.
Crime, disease, war, revolution, fire, flood, periodic financial collapse
and famine is the results of nature and the nature of man and unfortunately
are not within the power of anyone on this earth to prevent.
We all know that the sun will set each day, leaving us in darkness and we
all know that warm summers give way to cold winters and that we can do nothing
to keep the sun from setting to the cold winds from coming, does this make us
pessimistic? I think not! So then why is the survivalist called a pessimist?
when he makes ready to face events that are just as much part of history and
nature as the sunset and changing of the seasons.
Another misconception is that survivalists are predicting world disaster.
On the contrary, we seem to be the OPTIMISTIC MINORITY that is predicting
world survival. We are hard pressed to find any well recommended historians,
economists, political scientists, sociologists or military strategists that
can come up with a scenario that gives even a fifty-fifty chance of avoiding a
large scale catastrophe, yet we survivalist dare to be OPTIMISTIC about the
future. We survivalists do not need to predict the probability of disaster
any more than we need to predict the sun setting.
Those who critize survivalists, are like men who refuse to look at a
calendar, in the hope that through self-imposed ignorance they can keep from
aging another year.
“You survivalists will be disappointed if we don’t have a world cataclysm”,
here is another accusation that is pure B.S. and I could not think of a milder
phrase to describe it. We survivalists have loved ones we don’t want to see
hurt or killed, we have homes we don’t want to see destroyed, we are not fools
to think that just because we are survivalists a world cataclysm would be fun
for us or the we would not experience danger, loss, hunger, injury, cold or
even despair and death.
We have spent time and money to improve our chances for survival and
recovery from disaster, but we would have a great celebration if some day we
could be assured that we had wasted our time. No, we will not be disappointed
if there is no disaster to survive, any more than the Red Cross is disappointed
when there are no floods and storms or the man who buys an insurance policy is
disappointed when his house fails to burn down.
It may be said that the survivalist would much prefer the pleasant (but
unlikely) surprise of being wrong to the (probable) deadly rude awakening that
the nonsurvivalist will face if he is wrong.
So, you see the survivalist cannot lose because his survival preparations
will be of value regardless of what the future has in store. In time of
crisis, those who have not prepared to turn to each other, will turn on each
other.
It is most regrettable indeed, that many people consider survivalists as a
threat and regard them with suspicion and even hostility. This attitude is
logically indefensible and is rooted in the nonsurvivalist own sense of fear
and guilt. Subconsciously, the nonsurvivalist may hate the survivalist for
reminding him of how fragile his lifestyle is. Now, let’s get the facts
turned around right. THE MOST DANGEROUS PEOPLE IN AMERICA TODAY ARE THE
Nonsurvivalist. Every person who has not made provisions for surviving
without food, water, fuel and other essential needs from the outside, is a
mortal danger to his neighbors.
What will a man do when he and his family are freezing, hungry, thirsty,
sick and starving? He may ask or beg his neighbors for help, but when they
have no extra fuel, food, water or medicine to give, will he just go back home
to die with his wife and kids? What do you think? We survivalists who stock
up on food and other supplies, now do a favor to society because what we now
buy is replaced on the shelves so there will be that much more available in an
emergency. We survivalists won’t be looting and killing for food. We won’t be
a burden on the medical facilities or a danger to the police. Since we will
be able to turn to each other, we will not need to turn on anyone and we may
be able to help at least some.
Survival preparation should be regarded as a social obligation, one that
every individual owes to his family and community and his nation. The
nonsurvivalist is simply a poor and irresponsible citizen.
So the reality is, that survivalists are optimistic, self-reliant
individuals, who cannot help but see the imperative of preparing for the worst
possible events, while hoping sincerely, that they won’t happen. Today’s
survivalist is an asset to his community and to the world and should be proud
to be called SURVIVALIST.

Today I saw something that tells me that there is little chance of economic recovery or human society recovery. I saw the same idiotic jubliant erractic behavior on the main stream news today that I saw back in the summer of 2008. There was imbecile after imbecile “advising” evetyone to get into the real estate market before it was too late, to even borrow to get in on the good deals that will only continue to grow from here out. I lost all what little hope I had left for some common sense for the majority of the population.
Ever watch the Chevy Chase movies “Vegas Vacation” in which Clark got the gambling bug so bad he was going to idiotic game after another to win something. He even had couson Eddie dig up his chump change around the yard that was buried to gamble until he won. He of course went bankrupt and totally in debt until some old codger dropped over dead and he picked up his winning keno ticket to save the day. There will be no save the day with those stupid enough to borrow to get into the stock markets, just like in 2008 and the 1920’s and early 30’s.
People are being played just like what they do in Vegas and other gambling places with all the glitter, lights and false excitement. The only real way to possibly win at the slots is to play the progressive nickel and hope that eventually that you get the prize being offered with the low value jackpot. Playing the stocks is even worse because it takes everything you have over a long term period of time. At with one Vegas bad trip you might leave the weekend with your shirt.
The stocks are an idiot’s game that snags the people that CANNOT afford to lose at the end of bull markets. It is just as bad as the poor playing scratch off lottery tickets. This sucker is born every minute keeps the stock market alive with its never ending stream of fools that will believe anything that these so called MSM “experts” say. Sad, but when the stupid don’t learn their lesson the first time, they sow their own bed of manure the second. Happy trails, until we met again, at the FEMA and welfare offices or the local food bank.

Your comment about the stock market brought something to mind- I remember as a young man when the idea for tax sheltered retirement accounts first became popular. IRAs and 401k’s and such. Soon, I noticed large investment firms pooling the money (from millions of factory workers, school teachers and other middle class type folks) and putting it in the stock market.
Of course, they had to invest it somewhere… but, even back then, I asked myself, Isn’t this a lot like the roaring 20’s when every Joe Schmo, from cab drivers to elevator operators, were all rushing into the market, often with borrowed money? Or their life savings? Only to get wiped out when the financial gnomes at the top of the scheme pulled the plug? At least that’s what it looked like to me back then. Get several million of the little guys suckered into the system, then dump it and collect their hard-earned wealth.
I realise there’s much more to economics than this simple idea. And lots that I don’t undetstand about it. But it looks like today is just a replay of the same old scheme.
You are correct on that one. Back in the 1920’s the equivalent of naked short selling stocks was all the rage and Joe Smuck gambled and lost his a**….

As far as the rigged system and stock market goes, actually Okie, I think you pretty much summed it up…there really isn’t much more to the “economics of the stock market”.
Alot of folks tied into this racket via whatever form of retirement/investment activity via an employer, or individual decision, are being SETUP: and about to go bust with “the bubble”!
@ SmokinOkie. I tell you, I have the worst feeling about what is going on with this world. I usually get this way over the years every May and October, as I feel that something horrible with happen around this time. There is nothing scientific about this, just that type of deep knawing feeling that something mega is going to break at this time of year. Could of course be at any time of the year, it just seems like May and/or October feels like the correct time for it.
The logical sense of the times point to all sorts of events that seem to be leading up to something coming in May. I don’t like the Middle East right now, but truly the one issue that is plastered all over the place is how China is playing games with the U.S. currency. I think this is one of the most tell-tale signs of ugliness to come. As you know there is not too much holding up the U.S. dollar, and if the dollar collapses the country goes with it. Iran selling their oil for gold to India, China, and others and not using U.S. dollar is reason enough for an US false flag attack on Iran to stop this from spreading to other OPEC countries.
As JustOneGuy has said, there is some real activity ‘flaring” up on the Sun. Mexico has a load of energy coming from it right now. 14 of the past 15 earthquakes on plate boundaries have had previous major earthquakes that have followed in the past when the same spots were hit, and that was Mexico most of those 14 times that hit from Mexico to Chile.
I have seen so many old TV shows and movies that have the same theme to them before something huge breaks, it doesn’t feel right, there is something brewing. This is the way it feels, more so than any time before. Sometimes I just don’t have much to say, or like yesterday I spent the better part of the day attempting to fix something, not successful. Jack of many trades I am, but certain items you have to have someone repair for you. The main thing is to try, as with what is coming up this is all we will have. So I guess all is not too well, but nothing serious. Thank you for your concern though.
Plus you have the big boys gaming the system by front running.. They can see into the queue of open orders for stocks including the max or min someone will pay/sell for a stock and in a few nanoseconds can buy by and sell the price of the stock to their advantage– without saying you are the loser..

BUT…IF, as it happens every so often that there is a population explosion due to a richer than normal year, a year of abundance…then IT happens. Suddenly, without any obvious warnning they will collect in VAST ‘herds’ and simply begin travelling in some arbitrary direction till they eventually come to a cliff…
…at which point – by the millions – they simply follow, one after the other, over that cliff, to fall to thier deaths. Gee…does that not sound EXACTLY like what we see regularly in the Human sphere…is that not EXACTLY what we see in the Stock Markets, time and again… a mass of creatures unwilling or unable to THINK for themselves, who blindly ‘follow thier leader’s’ to thier dooms?

I agree with your comments about herd mentality but let me put in a plug for the lemmings. They do not actually form suicidal packs that leap off cliffs. Blame that on a Disney creation. They created a turntable to hurl lemmings off a cliff to make it appear that the lemmings were leaping to their death. It added drama to their nature documentary.
The closest thing that comes to lemming suicidal packs is when lemmings migrate in large groups. They sometimes try to swim across rivers and streams and, if the streams are too wide or turbulent, many of them may drown.

Talk about a double standard- JC Penny got criticised for the “Ship My Pants” online ad. But the criticism came from some Christian groups, so Penny basically said ‘Up yours’ to the groups and started airing it on tv as well.
Mt Dew caught flak for the online ad of a goat in a police line-up (all others in the line-up were black gangstas) so… Mt Dew quickly apologised and pulled the ad.

I am not sure if there will be riots because the people, I mean not the average SHTF reader or the average business owner, but the average flag-wrapped sheep American who focuses on sports and tv personalities. What you’ll need:
1/8 Cup of fabric softener (I used Downy April Fresh)

Do you use 5% white vinegar for a fabric softener? We buy 50% acetic acid and cut it to 5% which makes it cheaper than buying vinegar at the store. Don’t use 50% for table or canning use because it is a by product of oil distillation. You can buy 20% vinegar and use it for canning because it is produced by adding sugar to ethyl alcohol and fermenting it again. A real waste of ethyl alcohol.

@ JustOneGuy. On Sept.19, 1985 the 8.0 that hit Mexico was about 200 miles away from Mexico City and look at all the damage it did. You are so correct about Mexico City being on the loose soil, like a bowl of Jello. Fortunately for Mexico City the major plate borders of the Cocos plate are to the west and the northern Caribbean plate is to the south. Still there exists a potential for a upper 7 to maybe low 8 someday very close to the city. Much pressure from the Caribbean plate sliding east and the Cocos plate ramming into the North America plate moving northeast creates much tension like the twisting effect that influences the New Madrid.
In regards to the comparison from the solar flare index to the tropical storms chart is something that I enjoy doing a lot, making it interesting for others to see what an experienced person in astronomy such as yourself sees. Many times I have found that even with earthquake and geological terms and what is happening requires a really more layman’s type of explaining so everybody understands it. It is not that people out there are not intelligent, that is hardly the case. They are just unfamiliar with that aspect of science. When you explain something on terms that someone can make a visual picture in their minds, they understand. Trying to explain this to those idiots trying to ban pressure cookers would be easier to try to explain this to some alligator. Thankfully the people here are magnitudes brighter than these dim bulbs that follow BO like he is the second coming or something.

In another thread I posted in a few days ago, I made a few remarks regarding my Ruger 10/22. I added the below info to that thread. Given that we’re talking about doom and chaos in this post, I thought I reasonable to post it there as well. Purpose of duplicate posts is just to make sure everyone has an opportunity to read this. I said I just got some Williams fire sights, a swivel set, and a sling to go with what’s on there now. I just picked up the rifle from the gun shop, after getting the new firesights put on there. 1000 percent improvement. They’re tritium irons that make shooting much faster. This stuff adds up to about 200 dollars. I’ve had this rifle for about 3 years. Got the barrel band, bolt release, and extended mag release first. Then got the rest just recently.
The real benefit is the ability to perform a fast tactical reload and get the bolt pushed forward again quickly, which the basic 10/22 can’t do. tritium sights make low-light conditions as well as normal light easier than the standard brass dot front sight and v-shaped rear sight.
Thanks Neo for the post and links. I took my 10/22 out to the range a few days ago to test fire it with the iron sights. Had to drift the rear sight over with a brass punch and lower it some to get it printing good @ the 50 yd line. Of course it ran without a glitch. I’m looking at getting the barrel band with the rail and possibly putting a light on it. That’ll give me the chance to smoke some rabbits around the property when it gets dark.

Put oats in this weekend an trying to get ready for corn, weather has been slow coming, but nice out now good workn weathe, I think it’s gona be dry this summer, an not much snow for the water table here, I never Worry I’m in a Artesian well.
The dry is a problem, our rainfall in our area is way below average again, beef guys are dry and already feeding what cows they have left, rains dont affect my market crops because i irrigate but my cover crops and borders and the watershed are always a concern, especially now that our county govt just passed a bill giving the mayor and water director the power to raise the rates in a drought declaration, weve been under a drought declaration at least part of every year for the last ten at least,

Gold has always been money, because it represents a store of value. It takes work to get it out of the ground. The Fed creates billions of FRN’s with the keystroke of a computer. Its intrinsic value should be obvious, but to some it is not.

And there will be a tipping point and the world will abandon the dollar as the reserve currency. When that happens, the dollar’s REAL value will be evident to everyone. Do some research on the history of fiat currencies, and you will see that this is true.

What has to be understood is that there is a difference between money and currency.
What we have now as the “approved” medium of exchange, is a currency….and a fiat one at that. It is by no means money.
REAL money has to be a store of value. Therefore, a fiat currency CANNOT be considered REAL money. The only value it has is what has been declared. The word “fiat” means, “let it be so”. And it is good just so long as the public as a whole accepts it as such.
A study of both the conditions leading up to the French Revolution and then the Wiemar Republic in the 1920’s illustrate what happens when the general public no longer has faith in a fiat currency. When that happens, then what becomes most valuable are the things that people need the most. Food, medicines, clothing, hygiene products…and the means of self defense and defense of property.
But trading in commodities of daily necessity soon become cumbersome. And that is where the need for a trusted medium of exchange becomes evident.
History has illustrated over and over again that when the fiat currencies fail, what rises to the top….what IS accepted as REAL money….are the precious metals…more particularly silver and gold. And the reason is because they have both intrinsic value (they have value in themselves) and they are portable….easily transported. They are also easily recognizable and at least in the case of coins…..easy to determine whether or not they are counterfeit or genuine.
As an example of this….in the 1960’s, two pre-’64 dimes (90% silver) would just about be sufficient to purchase a gallon of gasoline. Today….those same two dimes hold enough intrinsic value at today’s price of silver to still purchase a gallon of gasoline…and you might even have some change coming to you. However…how much gasoline would two post-’64 dimes buy you? Not even 1/10th of a gallon. Because post-’64 dimes have been debased….they are in fact “fiat”..just like paper dollars are fiat.
The pre-’64 silver coins are therefore…REAL money. They are a store of value, as evidenced by their obvious worth in my example above.
Helicopter Ben can say anything he wants. He can maintain all day long that gold and silver are not money. He might as well say that the sky is green and the laws of physics no longer apply. He would be making just as much sense.
The closest example I can give to our fiat money system today is the little story “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. Read it, and see the parallels.
Let’s be real here, and realize that we all continue to make use of this fiat system at this time. That doesn’t make us hypocrites. But the smart people will know that this system is a sinking ship. And they know that when a ship is sinking, you’d better be making plans on how you’re going to deal with going in the water. Smart people look life jackets and a life boat. The “victims” arrange the deck chairs and act like nothing is wrong.

I really don’t see anything I want, although the folder stock with pistol grip, which otherwise looks identical to the standard Ruger Polymer stock, is one I have considered. Only reason is b/c it will fold into a smaller footprint, making it easier to stack in a small gun safe.

@ Red Leader. You asked about what size the Carrington Event back in 1859 was. Some people actually put it as low as an X-25 flare that was Earth directed, pinpoint. Others say it was as high as a X-150 flare that was not quite directing aimed at the planet. No one knows and there is a lot of speculations from this. This is why I used the comparison between the way they rank a hurricane. You can see the catastrophic effects of a major hurricane which is Category 3 or above. This would be an X-flare of at least 11. Just like a direct hit with a hurricane, a solar flare is the same.
Back about 9 years ago a solar flare that was either X-28 or X-40, the debate goes on with this one, went off but only hit a glancing blow on the planet. Just like an area several hundred miles from a Cat 5 hurricane, they only feel tropical storm winds and storm surge fractions of what hit an area dead on. Had that flare gone off 2-3 days earlier, the whole world would have changed dramatically. The planet “dodged” not the proverbial bullet, but the proverbial hydrogen bomb.
The Quebec flare of 1989 was only in the range of a X-8 or X-9 and did a lot damage to that province of Canada to the electric systems. Other large X-flares such as the Bastille Day likely not above a X-10 flare. This planet has not seen recent catastrophic flares that can produce Sun side EMP’s to the planet, other than the one that was a Cat 4 or Cat 5 on the chart I had above.
Really, the main concern of any X-flare above a 5 or so is where was it when it erupted. On spaceweather and other sites you can see the location of a sunspot where these things originate from. The most threatening one right now to the planet is AR 1734. This is because it is rotating into a direct Earth hit should it erupt with an X-flare. The Sun rotates around and if you look at a picture of the Sun everything on the left hand side is rotating to right hand side. The middle is of course the worst spot for a flare to come from as this is directed bull’s eye right at the Earth. There is only about a 5-6 day window of danger of an Earth directed flare. About 2-3 days before that midpoint is reached and 2-3 days after.
You can look at AR 1734 right now and it would be on the western fringe of that point that would be enough Earth directed. AR 1731 would be just out of range. This should give you an idea on the Sun where the danger range of sunspot is. For the next 5 days or so AR 1734 remains in that window should it erupt. IF this region had a strong X-flare, the worst possible day would be about Sunday night or Monday morning as this would be very close to that Midpoint. Again, visual pictures on the sunspots with the numbers of them are on space weather to check out.
When that super flare went off 9 years ago, it was just about where AR 1728 is now. When I saw this I said to myself, no real danger to the planet’s electronic system, but we are going to get some serious auroras, which reached down to northern Florida it was that intense. I hope this helps a lot, and what to look for in the future to a very potentially dangerous threat from a real solar EMP that would devastate the planet.

UHV backbone transformers which the Eastern grid relied upon for eletrical transamission, and which are the backbone for ALL such on the planet…
The generation of a CME is VERY mercurial in HOW it is ejected from the solar suface…much like the vagary’s we see in “Wind” when standing out in an open fleld. IT is NOT
simply a spherical expanding wavefront …though someties it CAN be…very, very ‘variable’.
The 2003 ‘Hallowwen Storm’ has since been reclassified as an X-48 by academic’s broadly, authoritatively. The particualr occurance was such that the Flare ‘detonated’ JUST
as the genitive region was ‘passing into shade’ around the western limb of the visible disk…hence, little effect was seen here. HAD that occured at almost any other point on
the Solar surface….we – Humanity – would have been SENT back to the stone-age, permananetly.
Why? It takes ENERGY and energy transmission to refine and manufacture the parts of the transformers that are used to transmit electricity…if ALL those were GONE it
would NOT be a mere 5 or 10 or 50 years until we ‘rebuilt’ it all…

Tomorrow morning is the big day for harvesting and moving my bees from one hive to another. Old hive is rotting out, 20 years plus old. Cool! Unlike some others here I never tire of telling the disbelievers of what is to come. I told them 7 years ago but never held it over them when they scoffed at me.
Everything I have told my friends and relatives that was coming has come true. Funny thing is though that even though they know what I am saying is true they cannot believe, scratch believe and insert accept, it. My friends and relatives for the most part are intelligent but they cannot rap their heads around it all. Perhaps it is an age thing where even when they know it they cannot believe that things have and are going to hell in a hand basket. I think some times they would rather die than live in the world that is coming.

I have tried and tried to wake people up and it has cost me a lot! I spent 8 years in the Army as a 91W and served our country proudly. I spent 12 years as a civilian EMT I/D. I have dedicated my life to my family and friends and my community and at one point was well known and respected… Since my eyes were opened a few years back I have lost my reputation and am just known as a “Doomsday prepper”. I tell people I cant afford to be a doomsday prepper! lmao I am amazed daily how facts and proof are ignored and how some even acknowledge that things are FUBAR and yet they do nothing.
I am currently seeking out other “preppers” that I can move my family to join with. I believe that will be key and I cant afford the land on my own. If anyone has suggestions on anywhere else I can look, let me know. So far there are 5 of us families that are ready to relocate and build a small prepping community to have your brothers back at all times.

Times are bad and scary all over and there’s not too much anyone can do about it. Learn to live in an “off the grid” mode as best as you can (I didn’t say go off the grid somewhere but learn to live as though you were). Stock up on food, guns ammo, tools and medicine. Grow a garden and learn to forage. I love my air conditioning, hot and cold running water, indoor toilet and internet and would be hard pressed to enjoy life without them after being spoiled by these luxuries for so long but I would manage. There’s simply too much to do and too many local problems to deal with to worry about what the bankers and warmongers are doing. A fox raided my neighbors chicken yard yesterday and killed most of her chickens. A bear raided another neighbors trash can a couple days ago and left garbage, bear crap all over the yard and bear tracks in the mud (that’s how we know it was a bear). Coons and possums raid my back porch every night and make a big mess searching for something free to eat (In some ways, they are just like humans). Armadillos tear up the yard and garden. Poisonous snakes (water moccasins, rattle snakes, copper heads) are slithering in the weeds waiting for something to bite, (wife found a huge moccasin in one of the chicken nests awhile back), fire ants are everywhere and deer eat the beans before they make. So, you see, there are just too many local things I have to deal with which doesn’t leave me much time to pay attention or even give a shit what the thieves and murderers in Washington are up to. Ron Paul speaks the truth but he whines too much about it instead of giving constructive advice about what each of us must do to rectify the problems. We need specific, not generalizations. He should be organizing a hunting party and leading the charge. Gotta go now as I have to weed eat and mow my grass this morning.

What do you and your husband make of Israel launching attacks against Hezbollah arms shipments in Syria this morning? I have been looking at Debka and Jeruslaem Post and the leader of Hezbollah is saying this will not go unchallenged. This escalation can occur like back in 2006 very quickly. Hezbollah has several hundred thousand rockets ready to fire into Israel, this is 6-10 times what they had in 2006, as Iran has been arming them to the teeth. It has been estimated that the amount of conventional firepower per square mile of land is more than anyplace on the planet, now and before, even in WW2, the Korean War, or Vietnam War.
I have talked with a couple of Israeli soldiers that say the amount of weapons that Hezbollah has is not exaggerated at all. They say that Hezbollah actually have more rockets aimed at Israel than North Korea has aimed at Seoul, South Korea. @ JustOneGuy. See the large scale eruptions on the eastern most portion of the Sun this morning. This will rotate into Earth directed possibility of flares in about 5-8 days. Many times these “hot spots” fizz out before reaching the danger spots, but this one looks pretty intense. “An uptick in geoeffective solar activity appears to be in the offing” is what space weather is saying. If this region stay hot or gets more active over the course of a few days, the planet could be in danger of a major flare and an EMP. What do you think about this possibility over the next few days?
Morning BI, I just asked him what he thinks about Israel this morning and he said basically that Syria is being overthrown by rebels, who are financed by terrorists. What Israel is doing is making sure no weapons go from the Syrian rebels to the terrorists hands. He says that Syria is too messed up to do anything serious, but they can get weapons to terrorists groups who have the means to do damage. So Israel is protecting themselves by not allowing weapons to go unchecked.

Well I enjoyed filling up my tank this AM, gas was $3.22 per gallon and that is not what I payed.
Now it seams that the boys are cranking it up again in the Mid East, I predict gas will go up this afternoon.
I used Bi LO fuel perks this AM and a guy walked by as my pump was showing $1.64 per gallon. He was wondering how in the hell I got gas for such a low price. I told him about the program.

A quart last year was $14; a big increase in their price.
I used to buy honey locally until the suppliers bees all died last year. I recently bought a couple pails from Emergency Essentials. You can buy honey in 60 pound pails (5 gal) from Emergency Essentials for $188.00 + $12.00 shipping. The shipping is a flat rate regardless size of your order, one or five buckets. That comes to about $9.70 a quart for two buckets. Honey in bulk is a good buy at that price since honey does not go bad. Even if it crystallizes and hardens you can still soften it up by heating. The bees are being systematically killed off for various reasons, generally man made. Stock up on honey while you still can.
And I’ve read it is best to heat slowly, in simmering water–not microwave it.
At least I do.
Cheaper to buy 5# containers from SAMs for $14. I did check out the website, though. Will be getting wheat and grain mill this month.

@ JustOneGuy. I am really beginning to wonder about this relationship between the Sun’s activity and the earthquake activity. As you said before when it heats up on the Sun, things down here quiet down. They just had another Pacific Antarctic earthquake that is of course between the Pacific and Antarctic plates. Just like on April 30 I checked to see how often this lead to major earthquakes later. The same percentage, the same low %, of 60% of the time. Again Mexico is primed, 15 out of 16 times now since this little sequence began. The earthquakes were all larger, 6.8-7.4 that occurred that 60% of the time.
I think you have a correlation between the Sun and earthquake activity. What I am wondering about is the next major X-flare that is Earth directed. You know I thought about that all day about what you said that this massive flare was X-48 nine years ago, and how IF it had gone off 2-3 days beforehand how different everything would be right now for most of the world. I mean crap, these fools go around saying that people that prepare are nuts, yet they have no idea just how close they came to Armageddon 9 years ago.
Here’s the thing, there is really no reasonable limit to just how massive a flare can be. I have read that flares they think have reached X-300 or larger in the recent geological past. They have thought that either one of these flares or a gamma ray pulse caused one of the largest extinctions in life about 260 million years ago, at the end of the Permian Period. As you are aware of, a super flare is not only the electronic problems, but the masses of radiation that will hit the planet and reach the surface. During intense flares there have been times when airlines were grounded due to dangerous levels of radiation. This was ONLY from little “candles” in comparison to what has happened before.
I don’t know how much radiation would have hit the planet if that large flare 9 years ago had been Earth directed, but I imagine people living at higher altitudes, say above 5000 feet could have gotten some degree of cosmic radiation. I don’t think there is anyway of researching this, but it would be interesting to see if the people living in the mountains after the Carrington Event of 1859 had an increased level of cancer in the years after this occurred 154 years ago.
Did you ever see the Outer Limits episode “Inconsistent Moon”? Everyone on Earth saw the moon brighter than anyone had ever seen it. The scientists thought the Sun had gone Nova and the moon was literally on fire and burning up and the dark side of the Earth had not yet been fried until it rotated around. Anyway they discovered it was a super mega flare that did this. While this is science fiction, the output of the Sun taking a giant “belch” should never be underestimated. One day, if man doesn’t beat the destruction of society to the punch, you may well be warning all of us of a potentially dangerous X-flare that could erupt at any moment. Your input to all us is most appreciated about the Sun and the second after effect that one day will come, it has to as it as countless times before.

@ oUCH. The USGS is reading this as a 4.4, but I don’t trust there downgrading practices. I had no idea you were between Guadaljara and Acapulco. This is the area of Mexico I have seen a lot of energy coming from and directed to the plate boundaries around the Pacific. I would definitely be taking some very serious precautions to what is likely coming. I don’t know if your home is well suited for a 7.5-8.3, because from all indications this is likely what is coming to this region. Could be a little south towards Salina Cruz, but more likely this area I have seen much stress coming from.
Most of the previous major earthquakes after these precursors have been between about 16-20 degrees north. A couple of them were further north, and one south of here. What I don’t like is that there was not something in the mid 6 to mid 7 after all these energy signatures were pointing to the region of Mexico to Chile. This tells me something quite large is coming. Too many times there has been earthquakes on the western sides of the Cocos plate and Nazca plate, always something big follows. This time it is delayed a lot, that is terrible news because it means that something with so much energy is keeping the faults locked up enough not to break. The Cocos plate is one of the fastest moving plates there is and usually a large earthquake occurs long before now after this much action to the west.
Something else I did is to check out after the Sun gets active and dies back down, something quite huge usually follows. This is why I do earthquake forecasting for the whole world, because people from the whole world visit this site and maybe I can forewarn someone and save their life or save them from getting injuried. All I can tell you about Mexico is that something should have hit by now. This likely means something much bigger is coming. The more you can reinforce the areas of the foundation of the home where beams met the better. Joists connections are where wood frame homes fail, since wood is fairly pliable like the way trees sway in intense winds.
Glass is one of the number one injuries after earthquakes. I good pair of shoes will save your feet after a quake. I have known too many people that have shredded their feet after moderate earthquakes. Fire is one of the most likely ways people will die immediately after a quake. Your supplies should be in a location where you can get to them if most everything collapses arounf you. I will try to alert everybody where the next quake is coming. Right now my best guess would be Mexico, Peru to Chile, Kermadec Islands, southern Japan and China, Philippines, and India/Pakistan. The window for this is till May 19, or until more precursor quakes tell something different. Anyway try to stay safe.

to clarify here. The basic assertion is that GRB’s are
the only thing capable of SIGNIFICANTLY altering the
half-lives of radio-isotopes here to produce the effect
I posited in sufficiency. The sun likely ejects brief
pulses of neutrino’s (which DO participate in the decay
process,’reversibly’) but this effect from our Sun is
likely too small to play into the equation that defines
seimic activity here. Again – Friend – the expanation
is TOO long to post-in here, neither do I think that
it can be abreviated without it’s meaning being lost;
my apologies therefor…
Instead, the only effect we SHOULD ‘see’ from Solar
activity is that expected, the transfer of momentum to
the core from the passage of CME’s around or near the
Earth…as said, the GRB thing is another matter
entirely. Oh, while I’m here…we DID just monitor a
few hours ago somesuch…at around 08:22 UTC. As usual,
being that is IS a weekend, we’ll likely not have a
‘read’ on that till late Monday.
We did, in fact, “dodge the bullet’ previously. As
I mentioned to RL in a previous post here, IF that had
occured at nearly ANY other point on the visible disk
the consequences would have been grim…had THAT
occured within the classic ‘danger zone’, the near
-cenral region of same, it would have been ‘lights-out’
probably forever.What most do not comprehend is that
Humanity, moreover, civilization is a ‘living thing’,
in essence. No such thing that so ‘dies’ and can
thereafter be ‘revived’, Eh? It took Humankind 7000
years to get where we are at now…IF that were
disrupted then there is NO guarantee that the process
would not be wholly fatal to ALL civilization on Earth.
The Carrington event occured at a time when we were not
‘Life-and-Death’ dependent on the flow of electricity
for the maintainence of ALL our daily activities….We
ARE “uniquely vulnerable” to any such occuring now.
Simply put, the number of dead human’s would mount up
SO FAST in the aftermath of any such that perhaps those
remaining would NOT be ABLE to ‘rebuild’ anything later,
and if they did…what would be left when 6.5 Billion
People ARE dead…in only 3 months after the ‘event’?

It is likely that there are effective ‘upper limits’
on just how large flares from any star such as our
Sun, in it’s current stage of ‘Life’ can be, but that
is NOT to say that we have any current real
appreciation for the true magnitude of such. Many
months ago I posted in as to having ‘stumbled’ over
a research paper, NASA generated, by some of thier own
researcher’s in-house which suggested STONGLY that in
the last 2 million years there HAVE been ‘energetic’
events, whether Solar or no, which passed through our
Solar System which ‘vitrified’ lunar scree and brakia
on the surface of to a glass-like consistency which
could not be accounted for by ANY impact process.
Those same researchers concluded that the specific
isotopic abundance of Nitrogen and Argon in the lunar
samples analysed suggested a Solar origin. IF so,
given what we know about the lunar surface – airless,
no shielding magnetic field, then it COULD be
surmized that such COULD have exceeded an X-70
equivalent.
Therefor, say ONE X-75 in two million years
(erring on the safe side, as it were). I could be
‘comfortable with such as estinmate by the simple
observation that WERE it any greater, or more
frequent then likely WE would SEE more evidence
of ‘Mass die-off’s” in the geologic record. That
said, there remains the issue of the ‘Silurian-
Ordovician’ die-off some 500 Million years ago
(trilobytes) which we DO have reason to beleive WAS
GRB-related. As an aside here Friend…be careful
with the figures you are bandying about…an X-300
would be nigh onto a Nova-like detonation from which
NOTHING left in this Sysem would remain alive…
literally trillions of times more powerful than
anything EVER conceived of as being ejected by our
Sun. This is a gentle remonstration I give here.
Towards the end of your missive you mention the
amount of radiation one might recieve during such;
a point of clarification here if I may. The danger
in a VERY large event is not any arising from cosmic
or any photonic manifestations but comes instead as
the effects which would arise in the exposure of
life on this planet to VERY high energy protons.
A tiny fraction of all 100 Mev protons ejected from
Solar events reach the surface of the Earth. As is
the case in any ‘normal’ distribution as the energy
rises the peak energy’s are predictable. the up-shot
of that is that protons with energy’s at or above
100 Mev reaching the surface would rise dramtically
with a doubling of the intensity of a flare and the
effects of THOSE are VERY bad. By the time that you
were considering a flare in the X-40 range you would
neccesarity be talking about a CME ejected at nearly
3000 km/sec…very relativistic energy’s indeed. 20
some-odd hours later the number of protons arriving
therefrom which managed to strike the Earth’s surface
would be a thousand times greater than what would
occur subsequent to an X-10 Flare.
For all that though this cycle is WEAK..at this
point nt during the last cycle we had seen several
“X-teen” flares (X-10+)…this cycle, none as yet!
Too, the average Penticton flux is MUCH lower,
indicative of STRONGLY reduced total solar emissions.
THAT may change in the aftermath of the 27th…it
DOES seem that such are the ‘prompt’ for divergences
in the character of observed solar activity.

episode you mention…tht would be almost exactly
what would be seen if one side got fried. Before I
leave I suppose that I should leave a write-up with

@ JustOneGuy. Really this is only what I read many years ago. I am postitive that whatever has happened in the past has well exceeded X-50. I watched that X-48, or X-40 and that was something quite spectacular but nothing what the Sun is capable of in comparison to the surface size of the Sun. It of course would have EMP’ed the planet big time and left people will nothing unprotected that is electronic on the effected areas workable. However, people still do have the refined and finished products that an EMP would not affect. This is important to consider.
First though I would like to address the X scale, I admit that I was using a type of logrithmic scale based on the size of the initial eruption. So what I would appreciate would be if you could rank in size an X-50, X-60, X-70, X-80 and so on up the line and exactly what is the scale that they officially use. I remember reading in either Astronomy magazine of some space magazine at the newstand at around the time of that X-40-or X-48 flare that flares have reached into the X-100 to X-150 range. I am not familiar with the scale that they use as I am with the Earth based scales used with hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanoes, etc. Please explain this to all of us, because that large flare in my opinion could have been much, much larger than what it was. Also I can remember that some of it was on the face side of the Sun from the space weather map that they have.
In regards to even a planet wide EMP, we still do have the refined products of tools that are thankfully vastly better than trying to remanufacture. People are so darned addicted to the modern age, but a vast number of people are not in third world countries. To them an EMP means little as they are already living primitive. An EMP will not affect the climate much, so as long as they have they oxen to plow the fields and the rains come, they will not even notice an EMP. The U.S. and other countries are in deep manure as you say.
Again, people living off the grid will fare okay because they can adapt. Firearms will still work, hammers and saws will, etc. People will be thrust back into pre-20 th century conditions, but again thankfully have the refined (unaffected EMP) products that 18th and 19th century man never had. Die off like you say, absolutely. Probabaly what you say is the high end of it, 6.5 billion, as the low end would likely be 1/2 the population, about 3.5 billion.
The real key to any recovery is the knowledge curve. People with the manpower and again the refined products can rebuild what is lost because they know how to. It might take decades, but it can be done. To take a cave man that knows nothing, you have stone age. To take a person such as yourself with that acquired knowledge and the books to show how to backing you up, you and others could get humanity back to early 20th century in a few years.
I was watching the science fiction Back to the Future 3, this is my favorite one. Doc Brown had constructed a workable refrigerator back in 1885 because he knew how to do it and had rudimentary tools. This is hardly farfetched, especially with loads of finished goods to work with. Regular motors and engines will still function after an EMP. You can still likely mow your grass after an EMP because the engine does not have the electronic parts to be fried. The basic foundations are there after a planet wide EMP for some recovery. What I would be far more concerned with a true mega flare would be the cosmic radiation hitting us that would kill off the planet. I so much truly enjoy your knowledge of space related issues.

Well, just got here last night.. and yes, the Mexican EQ Center first reported it at 5.1… literally moments after it hit.. then downgraded it after they had time to actually review the data. It was weird feeling though.. I’ve been in several small to medium ones here and usually, they are a huge jolt sometimes accompanied by an actual really loud “cracking” sound that is heard “everywhere”. This one just “rolled”. It felt really weird.. like being on a boat. Is that perhaps because it was so far away ? Sitting in a 90 foot tall building that is rolling like an ocean wave is REALLY disconcerting. This building survived the really big one they had in 95 or so.. I don’t recall it’s size, but it was well above 7 I believe; so God Willing, perhaps it will survive another biggie.. any further comments on this are appreciated and even anticipated.. as the comedians like to say.. Syria right now is 8:30 in the evening, Israel will likely strike again between 11:00 to 4:00, with Midnight to 1:00 AM being the most idea time. That is about 4 hours away. Iran has a military agreement with Syria to defend them under attack. IF Israel continue to hammer Syria, they will respond, or Hezbollah will with the hundreds of thousands of rockets they have ready to go. Iran might respond also.
China will not let 25% of their oil go into western hands from Iran. Russia will not allow any further encirclement of their country. By God, World War 3 is knocking at the door, and the news is covering jerk ass meaningless manure. I was turning the channels around and I happen to come upon a Tom And Jerry cartoon and I said to myself that cartoon has more worth and value to it than the news.

Looks like today could be one of those fixed points in history that will be burned into everyone’s memory, I always thought growing up that the Soviiet Union would probably Nuke us , then it collapsed the threat faded but did not go away, Now this technology is available to any advanced country, the basic research to develop Nuclear Arms has been long completed the only thing that stops the proliferation of these weapons is the Billion dollar infrastructure required to develope the materials for Thermonuclear Weapons. @ Watchman. You know while this is going on over in the Middle east, the “news” is talking about Prince Charles, Andrew, whatever, I can’t remember the names of those royal flushes. @ Night breaker. It is about 2:20 AM in Syria right now, and so far nothing TONIGHT. Still have 9 days left on the new moon window for Israel to go after Syria and/or Iran and/or Hezbollah in Lebanon. There is no way that Israel’s iron dome or Patriots are going to down the number of rockets coming in. This is the plan, to overwelm the Israel air defenses with volume. All cruise missiles used will easily by-pass the Arrow and Patriot missile defenses. Read also that Syria plans to use old Mig-21’s that are pilotless loaded with chemicals like buzz bombs. @ OutWest. Israel is trying to bait Syria and Hezbollah because this is Iran’s trump card to be able to retaliate and mega hurt Israel. Lose or reduce Hezbollah and Syria, and Iran is more wide open to attack. If Iran has any brains IF and WHEN Hezbollah and or Syria is attacked severely, they MUST attack Israel also with everything they have. If they don’t they will have to turn the country over to China like some gangster that demands protection, to safeguard their country. China will demand like the mafia that it gets something to protect Iran after Iran’s trump cards are gone.
Syria is a country that if occupied by NATO means Russia loses the really only country friendly to them in the Mediterrean, and from the Black Sea region that is Russia’s only semi warm port. Russia knows that if it is boxed in anymore, they lose, game over. Russia’s survival as a country depends on not having its enemies on all fronts. This is why when it comes to the very survival of Russia, the nuclear weapons will be used to save itself from encirclement or enemy invasion as there is no real difference. Again, the U.S. would deploy nuclear weapons the same if Mexico and Canada was in the hands of the Chinese.
@ JustOneGuy. All this whacked out human behavior with these so called “leaders” is kind of coincidental with the Sun erupting. Is there some sort of connection between magnetic disturbances of the Sun and people going “bonkers”? I would think so, but do you have any proof of this, like some of the past wars beginning with increases in solar activity. This would seem logical but I don’t know how you would check on this one.
BI, Perhaps if you try RT News tv you will see a Much broader picture reported on israel and syria etc. RT also shows 1/2 hr to 1 hr long documentary shows weekly and many show the OTHER side of it all. From your posts it is obvious you rely on quite alot of Israeli or Jewish news reportings. IMHO, they the jews and israel have a Vested intrest in Not airing Anything such as RT shows.
Most folks rethink what they thought they knew regards mid east issues or policy, once they see the other side of each part or issue. One good example is how many usa folks, especially Christian folks are even aware that there are several Hundred Thousands Christians that live in Palestien?…Not many! USA MSM and Fox too never air that info. Most americans believe palestine is 100% Muslims. Yet some of worlds Oldest Christians familys who date Back to when Christ walked earth are Still living there!

I swear if I was alot younger(am 60 yrs old) and in far better shape, I would really consider a move to Russia in a heartbeat. Russia is nothing as it used to be under kommie soviet jewish rulers. Putin is a Pro White man and solid Nationalist as in Pro Russia first and foremost before other nations of peoples. Like america Was when we was Kids!
