As the U.S. government pushes for regular mental health screenings for American citizens to ensure we are not terrorists and that we are capable of owning firearms or raising children, perhaps we should start at the top of the hierarchy – with the President of the United States.

Xanax is a benzodiazepine – a tranquilizer, like valium or ativan. They literally drain the life out of you. They shut you down. I agree that these are dangerous drugs that are WAY overprescribed, but he didn’t kill people because he was high on a tranquilizer. Something else was going on with this guy.
You are correct, but let me let you in on a little secret: Not all drugs work the same on everyone. As an example, I have taken Vicodin before. It has NO effect on me whatsoever. Acetaminophen has more effect on me. My brother can take Demerol, and rather than dulling him down, it makes him bounce of the walls.
Not to mention drugs that are taken for seemingly opposing situations. I take Zoloft for Anxiety, but it is often prescribed for Depression.
I have to wonder if some of these killers on ‘scripts aren’t flipping out because of issues like these.

Worked the last two days tilling and building raised beds 100′ long side by side nice and straight and well formed…planted cukes/cantalopes/parsnips/turnips/squashs/sweetcorn and other stuff….only to have a series of downpours make rivers out of the beds and God knows if I have any seed left in the beds where I put it….dang it!…have to do it over again in a few days if need be…providing I can find more seed… 🙁

These cases can be so baffling, one Texas Supreme Court Justice recently compared civil forfeiture to Alice in Wonderland and the works of Franz Kafka. But civil forfeiture isn’t just a quirky curiosity—it’s a powerful incentive for law enforcement to take millions.
Last month, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the District Attorney’s Office in Tarrant County, Texas seized $3.5 million, plus almost 250 cars and 440 computers in fiscal year 2013, roughly equal to about 10 percent of its budget. Of the property seized, almost $845,000 was spent on salaries for 16 employees at the office. By comparison, only $53,000 went to “six nonprofits that benefit victims or prosecution efforts.” The county’s narcotics unit spent an even greater proportion of forfeiture funds on salaries. Last year, the unit seized $666,427 in cash and used $426,058 to pay salaries.
Even more property was forfeited by participating in a federal program known as “equitable sharing.” By partnering with a federal agency, local and state law enforcement can keep up to 80 percent of the proceeds from a forfeited property. Incredibly, police can collaborate even if doing so would circumvent their own states’ protections for property owners.
