The next time someone tells you that the US government is operating in a fiscally sustainable manner and that our economy is growing strongly point them to the latest report from the U.S. Treasury Department.
According to the new report released yesterday all of our worst fears may soon be realized should the United States default on its obligations to creditors, employees, and recipients of state-sponsored benefits.
The report details the consequences of Congress failing to raise the debt ceiling so that the government can borrow more money. The political impasse will likely be resolved in the 11th hour just as it has been during prior showdowns. But, the report has much broader implications.
This is nothing short of an official admission and confirmation of the decades’ long woeful mismanagement of U.S. economic, fiscal and monetary policy.
Here’s what you can expect to happen on that fateful day when our government is no longer extended the credit it needs to cover its trillion dollar commitments:
“In the event that a debt limit impasse were to lead to a default, it could have a catastrophic effect on not just financial markets but also on job creation, consumer spending and economic growth,” the report said.
“Credit markets could freeze, the value of the dollar could plummet, US interest rates could skyrocket, the negative spillovers could reverberate around the world, and there might be a financial crisis and recession that could echo the events of 2008 or worse.”

“Considering the experience of countries around the world that have defaulted on their debt, not only might the economic consequences of default be profound, but those consequences, including high interest rates, reduced investment, higher debt payments, and slow economic growth, could last for more than a generation,” the report states.
While all the political hoopla in Congress will eventually lead to an agreement on raising the debt ceiling, the fact is that we are very quickly approaching our limit as a nation.
At some point our creditors are going to pull the plug. They understand that the $200 trillion in obligations we have will never be met. Countries like Russia, China, and even the private central banking conglomerates are positioning their chess pieces right now for when this day comes.
The end result is going to widespread financial and economy destruction, a meltdown of the U.S. dollar, and a collapse of our very way of life as tens of millions of Americans will be instantly impoverished.
Economic analyst John Williams has warned that when it does finally happen, we can fully expect disruptions to our food supplies and the normal flow of commerce.
Without the U.S. dollar as a viable mechanism of exchange, such a scenario could very quickly lead to civil unrest, violence, and widespread looting. While most Americans may deny that the possibility exists, it’s exactly the scenario that U.S. Homeland Security experts and the Pentagon have been simulating for years.
The U.S. Treasury Department has confirmed it can happen. The military and DHS are actively war-gaming contingency plans and stockpiling ammunition, recruiting soldiers for interment operations, and arming up local police forces. Furthermore, governments around the world are training for it.
Take their lead, and do the same on an individual level by developing your own long-term preparedness plan. Set aside food in case it is no longer available at grocery stores. Save some gold and silver to utilize as a mechanism of exchange should the dollar crash. Learn to use a firearm and have ammunition on hand to defend yourself when the masses start fighting for whatever resources remain.
While the timing of the Treasury Department’s report is designed to instill fear in the American public, understand that raising the debt ceiling will do absolutely nothing to resolve the underlying issues we face and the consequences that will eventually be realized.

Yeah, it’s scare tactics and nothing but. If the debt ceiling is not raised, they DO NOT HAVE TO DEFAULT ON ANY EXISTING BONDS. Let me say that again, THEY DO NOT HAVE TO DEFAULT. If there is any default, it will be an AFFIRMATIVE CHOICE by the current pack of thieves in the WH, who might do so just for spite. Well, not for spite exactly – read on….
What they would do is a “contained” default. Because any default further destroys the middle class that they hate so much. The default will be “contained” so that it does the big bankers as little harm as possible, but nobody will get away unscathed.
The only alternative is to do the right thing now. Cut entitlements by 30%, repeal Obamacare 100%, cut the Federal bureaucracy along the lines of the current “shutdown” – i.e. all “non-essential” Fed workers now on furlough are terminated, reduce taxes that inhibit investment in new businesses, enforce immigration laws, restore rule of law to banking industry, enforce anti-monopoly law against the big medical players, etc, etc.
The current Government won’t do any of it, because if they do the Free Shit Army will be out in force, armed to the teeth, backed by the Vampire Squid money team, and all our worst fears will come true. The only good part is that the Blue cities and states will get the worst of it.
Facing up to either of these horrible alternatives is more than The Weeper can stand, so eventually they’ll kick the can down the road again. Like the man with cancer who says “It’s only a lump, it will go away soon”.

This scenario of the “crash of the dollar” has been in the works for decades. Anyone that has been reading and paying attention to TPTB has known this dollar collapse was inevitable in order to bring about the “order”.
There is only one way to dismantle the middle and upper middle class in America; dismantle the dollar.
Why? There is too much “old money” involved to systemically dismantle the masses. WTF is old money?
Basically it is inheritance. There are a couple generations of persons that have held on to every dollar, or at least a portion of it, that they ever earned. Some invested into real estate and others into profitable business, and others into the stock market, and some just banked it all. There are trillions that are keeping the economy afloat without any help from the Feds. In fact, the Fed’s fiat dollar printing is only to help increase funds for banksters and the uber-rich.
These folks of wealthy inheritance can only be brought down to the ranks of lower middle to poor classes by collapsing/crashing the dollar and replacing it with an exchange that gives these folks, what is equivalent to, “pennies on the dollar”.
The collapse/crash of the almighty dollar has to happen on some level for TPTB to bring forth their plan of a NWO.
As long as Mom and Pop, and Granny and Pa, have the assets and the dollar flows; They will sell-off and cash-in, all that is necessary to keep their immediate families flourishing, which in turn keeps the economy flowing along. Until that dollar no longer buys vehicles and land and houses for an equitable amount; the economy will continue as it has for the past 100 years, excluding the Great Depression era. When that dollar is only worth 10% (or less), of what it used to be, then; “Houston, we have a problem!”

Why buy the bullion coins of gold and silver, when CEF is 60/40 gold silver ratio and this closed end mutual fund is trading now at a 5 percent discount of the true value of it’s gold and silver holdings. The miners are mostly unprofitable at these low prices.
Do they really hold the PMs they say they do? Or are they leveraged 100:1 like so many other so-called hedge funds? I’m no gold bug, far from it, but I won’t trust any paper asset. Either it’s in my hand so I can assay it, or forget it.

And you shouldn’t generalize, all of our savings were wiped out between a serious health issue my DW has and me losing my job which I had worked for the same company for over 10 yrs and was doing quite well a few years ago when things started getting really rough. We weren’t “over extended” and had no debt but got wiped out rather quickly anyway.

Like the man said, for most working stiffs, $3000 a month is more than their gross pay. If you’re making $100K a year maybe, but if you’re at $50K and have even one kid, you are lucky to have $30 left at the end of the month.
i’m telling you if you go extreme enough, you can do it; i dont make anywhere near 100K a yr and i do it. my only debt is my mortgage, i dont spend any money during the workweek and i used to buy gas weekly, now i conserve trips well enough that its every 2 weeks.

Don’t confuse physical gold with paper gold. $1300/oz represents paper gold that is fraudulently traded in multiples of 100 to 1 of the underlying physical metal. If we eliminate the paper commodity fraudulently traded as gold, then we’d see just how much physical gold is really worth!

Don't be so sure of that Lena. There is zero correlation today between the equity markets, economy, and politics. Not with trillions of dollars of reserve capital sitting in the dealer bank books. We will not see the other shoe drop until it hits the floor and then we'll all be a lot smarter.
Remember, Nixon may have relaxed Executive Order 6102 signed by Roosevelt in 1933 that led to gold confiscations, but that E.O. has never been officially rescinded. To my knowledge it is still very much in effect today. Whether the government will malevolently act on it in the future remains to be seen. Just go to a coin show or dealer and see what the premiums are on bullion other than junk silver. It used to be $1.50-2.00 for one ounce silver bullion. Folks don’t blink at $6.00 & up now.

That only 36 a year that isn’t that much many I know from 10 year before they started to think of retiring just started putting 50% of all pay into a retirement something. They still had to work an extra 15 years to be where they want to be in retirement income. Even 15k a month ain’t much.
If you didn’t start in your 20 just plan on working or living on a very small income.

@Lena: We say, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” You are fortunate to be one of those who can put away so much each month but no one’s future is completely secure. Go ahead, “Make hay while the sun shines”. The night is coming. You are to be greatly commended in doing what you are doing. Remember though, that when the time comes that you start withdrawing from your retirement accounts, the government will tax you.
When I was young and travelling the world, a dear friend who helped build many of the sky-scrapers in Singapore told me, “Always save at least 10% of your earnings. Keep it in a safe place and let it accrue. If you only make 10 dollars, save 1 dollar. Make it a habit.” I have tried to live by that tenet. I am still not where I can say that I am comfortable regarding retirement but I am comforted that there is something to fall back on when hard times hit. I also am a big believer in prepping and yes, get ready for the Zombies, for surely they will come. It is just a matter of time. Invest in things that will last and be prepared to rotate those essentials that do not last for more than a year or less. Start networking with others and teach others about the wisdom of saving and prepping. Don’t forget that it is important to learn new skills, the survival skills of the old-timers and the survival skills of the young ones, the millennials. You are to be commended. What is in your mind may be more important than what you have. No one can take away your education or your experience. Always, take time to smell the flowers, appreciate beauty and relish life to its full!

Why give the guy/gal grief about saving $3K a month? Probabaly works his rear off to do so. I did that too for a while so I could afford to move my family out of the city. Rode a bicycle to work, among other things, to be able to do it. People in expensive vehicles passed me on the road, but my guess is those people are still on their treadmills complaining about the rat race.
Off topic but I really wanted to thank the people on this site. We are experiencing a blizzard right now. Power is out. Thank goodness for cell phones or I couldn’t post this. I am hardly super prepper. However, I had the five gallon gas cans on hand to fill early this morning. There was a generator in the garage ready to go. Power crews are being recalled until tomorrow because conditions are too bad for them to be out. My wife should be flipping out but she isn’t. She knows we have all of our bases covered. We are enjoying the quiet in the house, except for when we hear a tree limb break outside. If not for this site I know we wouldn’t be prepared for something like this.
We will take turns monitoring the generator through the night.
Notes to self; keep a better eye on the batteries drawer. We have no D cells. Also, electric garage doors don’t respond when there is no power. Do not store a rototiller in front of the back entrance.

Michael, about 4:30am. Didn’t keep the generator running all night as the temp in the house didn’t merit it. My concern was frozen pipes, and there was no risk of that. Have it running now, mainly for the coffee pot. Gotta find one of those old style perculators at garage sales this next spring.
Don’t have to worry about anyone stealing the generator, as the roads are absolutely impassable. The trees still had their leaves, and the snow has been wet and heavy. Major tree damage, and that is what seems to be taking down power lines.

Hey Reb, ultimately, it is not so much “how much” but that you are putting a certain minimal percentage away for that rainy day. People who put away a lot of money are also the ones who spend a lot and a lot is being taken away from them. Unfortunately, most of those who make a lot don’t know how to “make do”. There are so many things that we have come to think we absolutely must have but in reality we really do not need. Good luck in your preps and plans.

Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan … what we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.
I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here’s one plan.
1. The US will apologize to the world for our “interference” in their affairs, past &present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, Noriega, Milosovich and the rest of those ‘good ole boys, ‘We will never “interfere” again.
2. We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don’t want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one sneaking through holes in the fence.
3. All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We’ll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they are. France would welcome them.
4. All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If you don’t like it there, change it yourself and don’t hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don’t need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.
5. No “students” over age 21. The older ! ones are the bombers. If they don’t attend classes, they get a “D” (for “deport”) and it’s back home baby.
6. The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing non-polluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.
7. Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don’t like it, we go some place else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)
8. If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not “interfere.” They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, ! rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.
9. Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place. We don’t need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.
10. All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us “Ugly Americans” any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH…..learn it…or LEAVE…

I wouldn’t consider gmail a ‘burner’. Google most certainly records the IP you’re connecting from. Probably forever. They can easily do a geo look up of that IP and get your general local. Thanks to their wifi sniffing camera cars they probably have a general idea of what neighborhoods or even houses depending on how insecure things are certain IP ranges are associated with.
Pick a smaller email provider, one that doesn’t have the resources to track you forever due to storage costs. Then only use the TOR Browser to access it. Never connect through your phone, or from a browser that’s not put through the The Onion Router network.
As it turns out the NSA still hasn’t broken TOR in a reliable consistent fashion. For now.
I’d also strongly advise using a 4096 bit encryption on your emails and just publish your public key somewhere that people can get to it so they can send you emails.

I thought it meant, a temp email address you just set up to get email when you are posting on a public board. I see gmail is not temp and I stand corrected. I am no longer extremely tech savvy and that is only a part of the help that I hope to collaborate with. I would like to build a team of few people minimum to make it happen. Oh yeah, I wanted to add, that I respect everyone’s privacy here. On the other hand, I no longer feel as if I have any privacy. I have no facebook or twitter, but I feel we are long past needing to hide or remain anonymous. It is time to stand up and be counted. Giving up on hope is certainly a lot more stress free way of life. I have long been of the opinion that everything that can go wrong will go wrong. I live by it. That way when things do work out I can be happy – happy! But when they do go wrong I can always say “I told you so”.

In reality, there are 80 million primary Americans that pay about 90% of all the taxes in the USA. Lets’ say the ACA costs each of the 80 million about $3,000 per month. This collection comes to $2.8T. Cant pay! Then there is $2.8T in home values.
They are printing phony money at over $1T per year.
The reason why there is no paper bills after 2009 is because the currency is crashing. We are witnessing the death of paper and the beginning of all transaction in electronic form.
Nothing is getting fixed. A few of us know that.
Now that I have give up hope, I feel much better. I feel great! I jog 5 days a week. I even bought my first shortwave radio. I’m getting ready.

If you’re not prepping by this point there’s something wrong. It’s impossible to convince some people but get as many of your friends, family, neighbors as possible. It’s coming now, no matter what they do. Just a matter of time.
My neighbor still thinks my house is gonna be her shopping mall—boy, is she in for a rude awakening! Unfortunately, I couldn’t hide my cat supplies, because I ran out of room. Almost every available inch of space is filled with preps, and then some.
I have met people that say that about folks they know just barely that prep. It’s sad, really sad.

He has a couple of pounds of catnip, some toys, 170 pounds of dry food, 10 cases of canned and 400 pounds of kitty litter. Then 2 yrs+ worth of flea drops, ear mite medicine and vitamins. I’ve provided enough extra water rations, just for him, for about a year.
I can eat berries, dandelions, pine nuts and even worms if I had to, but he’s rather limited to what he can eat. There are so many wild cats around here, I figure there won’t be a lot of mice and bugs left.
My little buddy is a member of my family, and I prepped for him as such, complete with a new carrier and leash in case we have to leave in a hurry.

I suppose the longer the delay the bigger the crash. Im out of debt. Yet I see folks building like crazy. I seen new houses being built in subdivisions that have vacant homes in them? Up the road a ways Two different farmers are constructing chicken growing houses. Those houses cost a $100,000 each to build. The are each building 4 houses? WalMart was packed full of folks filling carts yesterday. The number of cars on the road is the same. I have noticed a decrease in freight trucks. For all appearances its business as usual here?
The WalMart part is due to it being early in the month and the EBT cards were just refilled. Visit a Walmart on the last few days of the month and they are usually pretty empty. I’m not just talking out my ass on this, nope. My wife and I tested our theory for 3 months in a row. We would go to the local WalMart at 11:30pm on the last day of the month. What we saw was funny and disgusting at the same time.
People were coming into the store just before midnight, loading up their carts and then go park somewhere in the store. Just after midnight, they would all check their balance on their phones. I’m guessing their is a web site to do that at, why not, right? Anyway, by usually 10 minutes after midnight on the first day of the month, every register line would be pretty well mobbed up. Your tax dollars hard at work. Lovely, isn’t it?
As for the rest, yeah, people are building on debt. Suckers they are smoking too much of the Hopium.

I know one of the guys that is building $400,000 worth of chicken houses. I told him im not in debt. He stated that as long as he made his payments he didn’t consider himself in debt. When I laughed and stated what if something happens and you don’t make the payments. He stated he started out with nothing so he had nothing to lose. I suppose it takes a certain type of tunnel vision mentality to cope with astounding debt. He also stated he never worrys about how much he owes. He just worrys about borrowing more? Lots of dairy farmers down here in Tasmania tried that, with plenty of encouragement from a certain Dutch agricultural bank. One wet winter was all it took, and 4 years later everyone is touting dairy as the next big thing because a new milk powder plant has been built and a cheese factory has been rebuilt bigger and better. Both with overseas money to supply overseas markets.
I have close friends who drank the cool-aid and are now 60 something debt slaves who have to get clearance from the bank to repair farm implements. Their farm is on the market and has been for 3 years, with no buyers in sight.
I am picking there are buyers out there waiting for the market to bottom out, and that event is going to happen when the US economy defaults.
It is a paradigm whose time has been and now gone. Official interest rates here are down to 2.25%, mortgage rates are the lowest in sixty years, and the builders are still not hiring. That tells you that people can see too much risk in the economy.

@ JR- you’re absolutely right. In fact, Walmart refers to it as “second week” sales. The fact is, their sales drop as much as 50% in the second half of the month compared to the first. They schedule, order and stock around this also.

I have a stepson who has gotten food stamps because he has crohn’s disease and has a hard time keeping a job. Once they see how often he has to run to the bathroom he either gets fired or he has his hours cut.

Actually a diet in unprocessed nutrient dense foods works , vegetables cooked soft , red meat a no no only in moderation , lean protein ( chicken , fish, etc) , fish oil supplements help with the inflammation , try foods to see what bothers you then avoid them , AVOID MILK , eat smaller meals rather than a few larger meals . Drink plenty of water .

When people buy jugs of Sunny Delight and Koolaid instead of concentrate and powder they spend inefficiently. When they buy ready made bakery items instead of flour, sugar, etc. they also waste resources. SNAP has instructional materials to help people make the most of their aid (not to mention several mentions in the literature that this is a supplement, not provision for their full need) and part of it is the advice we used to get in school about shopping the perimeter of the store first. That’s where the least processed and better value foods are located. A lot of those on SNAP have no clue about anything in life, and thus they run out their EBT before the month is out and think that they are starving.
Maybe related- I noticed at the food pantry that the pickings were slim the first week of the month. Also the store seems to be running out of sales items quickly this week. I wonder about later in the month?

Certainly they can see the peril in paying people to have children they otherwise could not afford. Where have the adults in our government been? Why hasn’t something been done to stop it? Why isn’t anything being done now to stop it?
This is not a matter of compassion or sympathy or not passing judgment on the “mistakes” of others. This is a matter of overpopulating our land mass and destabilizing the very fabric of our society. It is long past time to pass judgment and put a stop to it.
With the quality of what we have in DC , I won’t be surprised if some of them might be the actual daddy’s of children out of wedlock and then asking the taxpayers to pay. Unless they go to some island and get it on with young prostitutes like that POS Mendez or Menandez.

It’s true. In the emergency room, everyone has to be treated. And we see people for things that are trivial.
Many parents have NO common sense. They bring kids in for scrapes and bumps that would have been ignored by my family. I once had a mom bring a child in for a scraped knee. A simple abrasion that just needed to be cleaned up and a bandaid placed on it. The mom was obviously very wealthy (all money no brains) and said that her insurance would cover the ER visit, so why not “be on the safe side” and get emergency care.
There are far too many people thinking like this.
I am so glad to be out of clinical care. I think that Obamacare will eventually lead the government to require all doctors to accept Medicaid and Medicare because many are starting to opt out or to limit the numbers they accept. I think one state is already linking accepting medicaid to relicensing. The decline in medicine is starting to accelerate.

I agree with you. I am “retired” as a physician but I have my panel of folks I see and help. They pay cash and they don’t hassle me unless they are seriously ill. I even help them get medications from inexpensive sources and get lab work done at low cost. It is all part of my sideline business but the only way to get in is to be referred by someone who knows me. My stress levels have improved and life has gotten better.
How long can this go on? Till our creditors have had enough. India is still smuggling gold and silver. The Germans have to wait over a period of time to get theirs back. China is buying gold and silver. So are the Russians. U.K. wishes it had what Brown sold into the markets. Oil for Gold and measures be taken by countries to “off” the Petrol Dollar. You are right. I was going to put dead right but it wouldn’t sound right. If you prepare for 3 months you will only last about 2 months , because you will just learn how to use your food, water, and equipment in the first month and you will waisst and mess things up. I like your 3 years idea. I believe that if the SHTF it will last for about 1 1/2 years before things will get back to some type of normal. I don’t believe for 1 second it will get back to what we had in the 1980 and 1990.If we have a Civil war all bet are off.

Sgt Dale….I’m blessed to be right on the Mississippi mid state. I commute to work in Missouri, so I purchase all my ammo and guns in Missouri with the help of employees. Since I am a single mother my plan is to lay low for 2 years and not have to even leave my house. By then most of the crazy shit will be over hopefully but prepared to defend my home as needed. Want to know what people are thinking? Set up a day at the Flea Market and listen to what people have to say. Especially if you are selling military surplus gear.
I buy and sell surplus gear for a hobby and a few extra bucks in my pocket. I go about two or three times a year. With a few months spread you can hear the changes what people have to say. It is always communicated in a low voice either Pro on Con on what is happening in our country. The chatter is a good cross section of people so it is not bias . Young and old mostly War Vets from WW2 on up. Then you can tell who the preppers are as they are as vocal as we are here.
There has been an uptick in women buying gear like Coleman stoves, lanterns and camping pots and pans.
I watch the people pass by to see what they are buying and many are carrying military gear sold by other sellers at the market. I get to talk to the REGULARS who set up every week and they say the sales are way down and so they cut their prices to make sales.
Lots of customers asking for Body Armor and MOLLE gear especially chest rigs. They have been to the ARMY/Navy outlets and say the prices are high for the good gear but most of it is just plain worn out. DRMO stuff. Small ALICE packs and frames sell well. The older Vets like the LC1 and LC2 load bearing gear.
There is one seller that only sells ammo cans. The big mortar and artillery containers also and he sells out by the end of the day.
At another store that sells everything under the sun was a pallet of MRE’s. I guess about 50 or so for $28.00 a box. Sold them all in two weeks. Checked the code and they were good to OCT 2016. Just a side note.
So as we wonder if people are preparing. I would say so. The mood of the conversation about our country is that something is coming. Not much about who is to blame.
I have also noticed that to replenish my stock I have to get up early to beat others who are buying up gear at the markets.
Maybe there are more of us than we think.

All the prepares that I have worked with and have set alliances with are good people and they are looking to help in any way after the crash. (Just don’t try to take it away from them. You will have a fight) If you ask them they will help.
I have the 1St. gunshow coming up at the end of the month for this area. I’ll see what is going down when I go there to help a FFL dealer. Last one I was at in March the folks were gearing up and they told me so. They know something is coming, (Man we Americans are smart!) and they arn’t blaming anyone one person or the group. Most don’t play the blame game, they just prepare. Alot of military stuff was going out the door mostly mags, ammo, and MREs, dried foods.

I wish there was a way we could enact a financial survey or test against future members of the House and Senate, one that checks whether a candidate has a monstrous amount of debt, or if they have none at all. Their house must be paid for, along with no car payments, and no huge credit card debts. I surmise that folks who are this good with their personal finances will be trusted easier with national finances. It’s no guarantee, but worth a shot.
Or they will just use our money to achieve no debt, and than lie to us about where the money to become debt free came from

The federal reserve has accomplished exactly what it was designed to do, that is transfer wealth from the lower and middle classes to the top. The system has a finite lifespan but you can never underestimate the power these guys have to kick the can down the road a little farther. I thought it was all going to unravel years ago but here we are. I just prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I’ve noticed that all the bars in the town I work can stay open until 12:00 on week days and 3:00 on week ends. They are closing at 10:00 to 10:30 week days and around 1:00 on week ends. Before BO we had to run people out of the bars at closing time. Two of our diners that would be open all year around are now closing for the winter.

The gov takes in $2.8T/year, the first thing they will do is pay interest on the debt. Then pay their other bills. Of course they spend $3.8T, hence the $1T trillion deficit that they need to continue to borrow for. Even that is not a problem because the fed is buying almost all the debt now.
Don’t be fooled people, this is just to scare you and make you think they did something when they settle and start blabbering all over tv how great they are.
That’s $400 billion a year at an average of 3%. If interest rates go to 9% that’s $1.2 trillion. The fact is, the government isn’t borrowing much money anymore. The Fed is creating it out of thin air to fund the deficits. Eventually the dollar with become worthless and America will become a third world country.

I can see how you would come to the conclusions as drawn in your article. However the truth be known I can assure you it will not go down in the manner you have described.
Let me start out with your premise:

The U.S. Government does not borrow money. The U.S. Government sell treasury bonds. Over half of them each month to themselves and the other half to financial institutions, insurance companies and just old plain rich people looking for a place to stash their money and not have to pay tax’s on it. Except for themselves they are sold both here at home and abroad everywhere in the world.
Now to pay what interest and or repurchases of these T-bills the federal reserve prints up money out of thin air. As long as they can do that then there can be no default by the U.S. Government.
However this is also where hyper inflation starts to kick in as the more money printed the less the value of said money. When those people / institutions who want to cash in the treasury bills the money they get will be of less value than the original purchase price in respect to it’s purchasing power.
Because of a global economy and the United States dollar being the international treasury there is no country or company that has invested in either treasury bills or into the American economy that would want the U.S. economy to fail because if it did the rest of the world would be as poor as we would be.
So in conclusion let me just say that this is not going to happen till there is some other calamity that would prevent the United States from printing money or being considered one country under God.

I have considered the petro dollar situation and in all fairness that could be a kink in my thought process. That said though tell me who has a stronger currency than we do?

Regardless, we are becoming one of the largest oil producing countries in the world. And that would just make the petro dollar even more strong.

Have you ever heard of the USD (US Dollar) index?
You asked, ‘who has a stronger currency than we do?’
Well about 5 Nations do. The US Dollar is indexed against 5-6 of other leading nations. An index of 100 means our currency is equal to equated currencies of the other 5. A USD index of 120, as was during 1982-2002, means our currency is 20% stronger.
Our USD index has bounced from 90-146 between the years 1982-2002. Reagan has had the highest USD index with many times in 120-140. The latter years of Bubba had some around 115. Bush2 had a couple years close to that too. Since 2008, our USD has been mostly 80-82, meaning our currency is worth about 15-20% less than the other 5 Nations.
Two years ago, the dollar would get you about 92 cents in Canadian money. In past, it would bring about $1.15 in Canadian money.
This is why the petro folks would like to get rid of dollar. Why store the dollar as petro and world reserves when other currencies are worth more? It is like $1.00 in savings and your account shows $0.80.
That is also why China is buying so much of our stuff from land to T-Bills. You see, a stronger currency always purchases the weaker currency because of bargains.
The dollar is toasted. When China and others start to cash in, we are nothing but confederate money.
The dollar index went just below 80 on Thursday, the lowest since February. I have heard that if it gets down close to 70 and stays for awhile, we won’t have long until collapse. I don’t know enough myself to say whether that’s right.

When the banking crisis happened in 2008, the USD index was 72-75 that week.
We are collapsing at the 80-85 mark anyway. That means our currency is 15-20% below the other currencies. If our economy was truly recovering, then the USD index would be at 100 or above. It hasn’t been above 100 since 2004(?).

The math I used was based for the time period. Yes, if FDR was president today his rating would be much higher than the 2% and Carter have been worse too.
I used the economy, the strength of the dollar for that time period, the national debt at that time, and the annual spending debts for each president.
If you noticed, Reagan is not in it. That is because he took over a $500B debt with 22% interest rates and turned this country back into an economic power-house with a dollar value 25% above all currencies. People say Reagan tripled the debt, not true. It was the first Bush where the debt tripled.
Clinton, after the dems lost in 2004, slowed the debt down and congressional spending was actually a surplus.
Then came Bush and BHO.
The mess did start under the Bush administration until 2006. From there the dems have had the control on spending.

You didn’t read the rest of the page. At the bottom there is a little window with figures that you can copy and paste to a document or spreadsheet. If you look at the figures in the resulting table, you will see a figure that is not accounted for in the pretty pie chart. That is the federal deficit, the amount the government is estimated to be going in the hole during 2014. That is $744 billion dollars that the government (ever optimistic) estimates that they won’t have enough revenue to cover. It will most likely turn out to be over a trillion dollars, going by all the past years of Obama.
That 6% in the pie chart is over $200 billion dollars. That’s a lot of interest. And there is nothing in the budget to pay on the principal, because they’re in the hole over a trillion dollars every year.
If you check figures for the past few years, you will see that if absolutely everything in the federal government were shut down, defense, congress, all cabinet departments, and only entitlements were left, the government would still have a deficit every year.
So your whole message is incorrect. In other words, BS.

Not trying to be argumentive with you but China has more than it’s share of problems as well.
Supposedley we had a housing crash that we have sort of recovered from. That is probably the biggest bullshit statement I have ever typed. We are still in the biggest housing crash and financial melt down this country has ever seen. It is so far from over. Well, that for another day.
You see in China they are just at the beginning of an employment crash that may well cause a power shift and a complete restart of their economy as well. They have spent all of their resources in keeping the people employed. If you can trust the numbers they have put out they now have a GDP rate of less than 2.4 %. Compare that to the U.S.’ supposed GDP of what 2.9. In both cases though for an economy to grow it takes at least 4.5 % GDP increase each year.
Unemployment in China is well over 20% at this time and getting worse every month. And unlike here in the U.S. they don’t have part time jobs. Just jobs that pay jack nothing and because of inflation over in China as is here it does not buy very much.
The problem is that China the government is the main employer in the country. They like us are pumping out currency like there is no tomorrow but because so many raw materials have to purchased out of country they cannot afford enough to keep their people working.
So when the peoples republic get tired of no job, food and or money they are going to turn on that countries leaders. When that happens just like it is going to here sooner or later all hell is going to hit the fan around the world. Because if they go then we go as well and visa versa.
And there is no one else with the size and scope of an economy like either China or the U.S. to take our place. Goodbye global economy. Goodbye to all that we or they knew as the good old days.

What are the greatest dangers that the American people face today and impede the goal of a free society? There are five.

A moral people must reject all violence in an effort to mold people’s beliefs or habits.
A society that boos or ridicules the Golden Rule is not a moral society. All great religions endorse the Golden Rule. The same moral standards that individuals are required to follow should apply to all government officials. They cannot be exempt.
The ultimate solution is not in the hands of the government.
The solution falls on each and every individual, with guidance from family, friends and community.
The #1 responsibility for each of us is to change ourselves with hope that others will follow. This is of greater importance than working on changing the government; that is secondary to promoting a virtuous society. If we can achieve this, then the government will change.
It doesn’t mean that political action or holding office has no value. At times it does nudge policy in the right direction. But what is true is that when seeking office is done for personal aggrandizement, money or power, it becomes useless if not harmful. When political action is taken for the right reasons it’s easy to understand why compromise should be avoided. It also becomes clear why progress is best achieved by working with coalitions, which bring people together, without anyone sacrificing his principles.
Political action, to be truly beneficial, must be directed toward changing the hearts and minds of the people, recognizing that it’s the virtue and morality of the people that allow liberty to flourish.
The Constitution or more laws per se, have no value if the people’s attitudes aren’t changed.
To achieve liberty and peace, two powerful human emotions have to be overcome. Number one is “envy” which leads to hate and class warfare. Number two is “intolerance” which leads to bigoted and judgmental policies. These emotions must be replaced with a much better understanding of love, compassion, tolerance and free market economics. Freedom, when understood, brings people together. When tried, freedom is popular.
The problem we have faced over the years has been that economic interventionists are swayed by envy, whereas social interventionists are swayed by intolerance of habits and lifestyles. The misunderstanding that tolerance is an endorsement of certain activities, motivates many to legislate moral standards which should only be set by individuals making their own choices. Both sides use force to deal with these misplaced emotions. Both are authoritarians. Neither endorses voluntarism. Both views ought to be rejected.
I have come to one firm conviction after these many years of trying to figure out “the plain truth of things.” The best chance for achieving peace and prosperity, for the maximum number of people world-wide, is to pursue the cause of LIBERTY.

I apologize for being off topic. Mans sets himself on fire today on the Washington mall grounds. you tell me there is calmness in the land and you are living in la-la land.
Someone please explain to me how we could default when our tax revenues more than cover the basic expenses. Tax revenue is at all time highs or around $240 billion. Our basic expenses that include making interest payments, social security, medicare, medicaid, military, etc, only amount to just over $200 billion per month.
How is a default possible with those figures? Yes, our credit card would be cut up. No more deficit spending and hard decisions to make but so what, those decisions need to be made anyways.

Wen the shutdown started, my son asked what the big deal was, not as in it was important, but as in what are the ramifications. My hubby answered (he selectively filters what I say) and told mike that in three days mass hysteria would set in and it would be SHTF. I was the perfect opportunity for me to have their full attention and explain why it is I do what I do. For me they concern is hitting the debt limit during this shutdown. Who blinks first? What if nobody blinks? how long until they truly stop printing ss checks, loading snap cards? Will it be fixed before 11/1? If this isn’t settled before 11/1, all the fixed income folks will be SHTF on that day I would suppose.

I have had those same issues of few times before. For me, I finally figured it came from my server where they were ‘cleaning’ the cache and thus was not working properly. Once cleaned, it was all fine.
Other times is when they were doing some maintenance.

Unfortunately unregulated capitalism doesn’t work well either except for the Robber Barons. One need only to remember the working conditions and wages for employees in the pre organized labor days. The concept of Free Trade with slave labor nations and its inevitable lowering of wages is born out of unregulated capitalism. If one cry’s about organized labor destroying the US one needs to look at the US Textile industry which was largely non union and even in those mills that were union the wages were poor. $12 per hour was far too much to pay when 50 cent Asian manpower was available duty free.

You also hear of those these day that report God or the angels speaking to them. I do not doubt or discount these folks, unless there is obvious mental issue. We must ” be quiet” and ” be aware”. I believe God speaks to each of us, if we onlylisten. It did not end with REVELATION. Just as God changed his path and sent Jesus, does that not mean he can alter paths again? Not saying he is, just saying we each must choose what we believe based on the convictions of our heart and I appreciate informed discussions (I read and learn more for myself) of The Word, but find the bickering and arguing of “I’m right–you’re wrong” disheartening, but that is a millennia old fight which will never go away.

I haven’t been to church for 12 Sundays now. The ‘church’ is just as asleep as 99% of Americans. You can teach Revelation in Sunday School, but just make sure you make it cozy with a beautiful ending.

Try running a mid to heavy gauge wire antenna with an alligator clip attached to each end; 25-50ft. in length will be sufficient with one end attached to the rod antenna and the other end going out of a window to a tree if possible. The Rothschilds wanted Palestine for the following reason. They had great business interests in the far east and desired their own state in that area along with their own military which they could use as an aggressor to any state that threatened those interests.
The British subsequently agree to the deal for Palestine and the Zionists in London contact their counterparts in America and inform them of this fact. Suddenly all the major newspapers in America that up to that point had been pro-German turned on Germany running propaganda pieces such as: German soldiers were killing Red Cross Nurses; German soldiers were cutting off babies hands, etc, in order to manipulate the American public against the Germans.
This same year, President Woodrow Wilson, ran a re-election campaign under the slogan, “Re-Elect The Man Who Will Keep Your Sons Out Of The War.”

I’ve been studying this phenomenon of conspiracy and world domination for a while. Though I’m still, admittedly, not too informed, the deeper I dig the curiouser it gets.
My interest was first piqued when I was a kid and noticed all those Jewish sounding names in the movie and tv credits. A bit more research turned up the same thing in other industries (newspaper and textbook publishing, banking, so-called social service nonprofit organizations, many other major industries, and everywhere else I looked). It made me wonder just what was going on.
Last couple of years I’ve done a little more reading on the subject and the enemy is becoming more clearly defined.
Of course, you know that whenever we say something against the Zionists, people will accuse us of being prejudiced against the poor down-trodden Jews. They think we automatically hate anybody who eats bagels or owns a menorah. When, in fact, that isn’t the target of our comments at all.
They simply haven’t understood the definition of Zionist as it relates to the blood-sucking, demon-worshipping, human-parasite Rothschild khazars, and the related family names which they’ve polluted with their murderous greed.

I we, us bankers, can keep ‘em broke and desperate then we can effectively own them – which, owning them (owning people) is what slavery is all about.
But I say it is effectively owning them, not actually owning them, which is really better for guys such as myself because actually owning them means I have to pay attention to feeding and caring for them, which is something that I don’t really want to do.
What I really want to do is gain control of what they produce – not actually own them but own chunks of their wealth. But I cannot do this by force so I have to resort to doing it by persuasion. Which is really easy to do because most everyone has been dumbed down by the MSM and by what is known as our educational system.

I agree with their opinion the prognosis is gray. the Ecomomy of the whole world is on the printing of US dollars life support. Its never going to be better than today. Tomorrow will be worse. Financial analyst warns U.S. debt default would trigger a Great Depression

October 6, 2013 – WASHINGTON – As we close out the first week of the government shutdown, a bigger and even more toxic disaster is creeping into the fray that could make the contentious budget battle look like a slap fight. The Treasury Department said Uncle Sam will be broke by October 17th unless something is done. Treasury secretary Jack Lew hammered home that point Thursday by releasing an unusually ominous statement that warned of catastrophic risks to the economy. House Speaker John Boehner has said he won’t let the government default on its debt, but until steps are taken to raise the nation’s debt ceiling, the possibility of default is still theoretically alive. “If they seriously default on the debt, what we’re really talking about is a depression,” says veteran financial sector analyst Richard Bove, VP of research at Rafferty Capital Markets. In the news video he explains how the fallout would be a lot worse than the recession suffered in 2008 and the aftershocks would be felt for at least a decade. “The first thing you have to do is look at who holds the debt,” Bove says of the $16.7 trillion of bonds the U.S. currently has outstanding. “The first, biggest owner (of U.S. debt) is the social security fund, so you’d have all of these people who are receiving social security payments who now have to question whether they’ll get their payments.” Clearly, that would cause a huge disruption to millions of Americans. But Bove says that is only the beginning since the second biggest holder of Treasuries (at about 12% of the total) is the Federal Reserve, which has “91% of its assets backed by U.S. government debt.” If the value of those assets were to decline, which they indisputably would in a default, Bove says the net effect would be that “we have nothing of value backing the dollar.” They’re actually “Federal Reserve Notes’ as well as the number one asset of choice held in the reserves of governments and businesses all over the world.
A plunge in Treasuries would also devalue the dollar, which would instantly make everything we buy more expensive, and in turn destabilize countries and economies all over the world. “Eleven-percent of all U.S. debt is owned by the Chinese,’” he says. “That $1.4 trillion represents about a third of the reserves of the People’s Bank of China, so what we’ve now said to the PBOC is, ‘Watch out, we may hit the value of a third of your assets and you can’t do anything about it.’” And this isn’t even half of it. As Bove explains, money market funds, which are used by virtually every person with a savings or investment account, are also “heavily loaded with Treasuries.” So are most bond funds and so-called balanced funds (growth and income funds). A default on U.S. debt would not only cause money funds to “break the buck” –not be able to pay 100-cents for each dollar invested)– but would also cause forced selling by countless other funds that are mandated to immediately sell any asset that has defaulted. “That could easily put $750 billion of Treasuries on to the market” Bove says, inferring that rates interest rates would also spike, and normal borrowing/lending transactions would end. Speaking of banks, the U.S. banking industry holds over a trillion dollars worth of Treasuries and another trillion dollars of government issued mortgage-backed securities, Bove says. If those bonds were to go down in value, he says the banks would also have to “write down the value of those assets and, in essence, wipe out their equity.” It would make the banks insolvent. To summarize, Bove asserts that a default is unthinkable because it would trigger a huge reduction in the value of U.S. debt, which would go beyond disrupting social security payments. A default would upend money markets, destroy bond funds, slam the brakes on lending, cause interest rates to spiral, make our banks insolvent, and deal a blow to our foreign trading partners and creditors around the globe; all of which would throw the U.S. and the world into economic disarray. -Yahoo News

You are saying they default and value of dollar goes up (payment of debts in dollars is at sub-100% payment). OTOH, they will PROBABLY just print more money – value of dollar goes down YoY. That’s what they’ve been doing for over 100 years now. Give them control of the money supply and they run everything.
I say there’s a 99.9999% chance they’ll just raise the debt limit. Probably backroom payouts are being made all over the place. I can’t see any reason corrupt politicians would suddenly become concerned about destroying their country. And I do think the vast majority of politicians are corrupt.
