The United States government has agreed to buy 1.5 million more doses of the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine. This protein-based injection is supposed to convince those skeptical of the mRNA technology in Moderna and Pfizer’s shots to get the jab.
The company said on Monday that the modified agreement includes funds for the development of an updated vaccine by the fall of this year, according to a report by Reuters.
Sales of the company’s vaccine (and all big pharma COVID injections) have been hurt by a global supply glut and waning demand, with Novavax cutting its full-year revenue forecast for the shots twice last year.
The U.S. ruling class still thought it was necessary to acquire these injections even though it plans to end its COVID-19 emergency declarations on May 11, nearly three years after it imposed sweeping measures to curb the spread of the pandemic.
The ruling class admits that this is intended to convince skeptics to get the shot.
“This agreement acknowledges the need to offer the American people a diverse COVID-19 vaccine portfolio and underscores the importance of Novavax’s partnership with the U.S. government to ensure continuous access to a protein-based option as part of public health measures,” said John C. Jacobs, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Novavax. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the U.S. government on the development of our COVID-19 vaccine to meet the requirements of the FDA and our commercial customers for the upcoming 2023/2024 vaccination campaign.”
So the push to get injected will continue into 2024, regardless of the public’s thoughts on COVID. And if you think you can get away with only one injection if you decide on Novavax, think again.
The Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine, Adjuvanted received emergency use authorization from the U.S. FDA for use to prevent COVID-19 in adults aged 18 and older and in adolescents aged 12 through 17 as a primary series, and as a first booster dose at least six months after completion of primary vaccination with an authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine to individuals aged 18 and older for whom an FDA-authorized mRNA bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccine is not accessible or clinically appropriate, and to individuals aged 18 and older who elect to receive the Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine, Adjuvanted because they would otherwise not receive a booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. -Yahoo News
The ruling class is still trying to push these shots on everyone. Mayne it’ll work to convince the holdouts to get a COVID vaccine if one claims to not be made using the mRNA technology of the others.
