Breakdown: Three Tons of Food Looted From Grocery Stores In Spain As Millions Struggle

As the economic and financial systems of the world rapidly approach the real possibility of  total collapse, signs of what we can expect on a mass scale in the near future are beginning to appear throughout Europe.

In Spain, a country that just a few years ago was heralded as a shining example of real estate entrepreneurship, international tourism and a rising middle class, the situation is so bad that many are unable to meet the most basic necessities for life.

Social safety nets across the continent are visibly under stress and breaking down, so much so that unemployed Spaniards have begun raiding supermarkets in order to put food on the table. As recently as last month the people of Cadiz and Sevilla, which have a reported unemployment rate of 32%, joined together to loot local grocery stores of three tons of food – some of which was distributed to local food banks:

    In Spanish with English subtitles:

Fernando Ferfal Aguirre, author of Surviving the Economic Collapse, was in Argentina in the early 2000’s when the country underwent a hyperinflationary currency meltdown, and says that these acts of desperation are a carbon copy of what he witnessed in his own country and should be expected as the economic crisis accelerates:

To be fair they aren’t taking booze and big screen TVs, but taking what isn’t yours is still under the same principle. Would you do any different if you couldn’t put food on the table and spent months unemployed?

Just a few years ago many Spaniards would joke saying that thanks to the new immigration wave everyone in Spain could afford to have a “Sudaca” as a maid. Sudaca is a derogatory term similar to wetbacks, commonly used in Spain referring to South Americans. This is pretty sad given that these “sudacas” are children and grandchildren of those same Spaniards that left to SA because of the Spanish Civil war. Now, its obvious that they are suffering many of the miseries their “Sudaca“ brothers went through in the past.

Spaniards eating out of garbage bins, many of them senior citizens,  have become a common sight in Spain and in other European countries where they have emigrated to looking for work themselves.

In the following videos via The Modern Survivalist and Prepper Website, we can see what happens to civilized societies when there is no food on grocery store shelves or it’s so expensive that it becomes unaffordable for the majority of the population:

    Available in Spanish only:

This morning we learned that 46.7 million Americans – a new record – are receiving government nutritional food assistance benefits, so the troubles we’re seeing in Spain, Greece and other European countries are not just limited to the other side of the ocean. They are happening right here at home.

The only reason stores in the United States are not yet being looted like those in Spain is that our social safety nets are still able to support the basic needs of most of the population. But as prices continue to rise, more jobs are lost, and record numbers of people join the ranks of the already 100 million receiving some form of government welfare, the breaking point is quickly approaching.

In Spain, just a few short years ago people were living the high life. Expensive homes, expensive cars, luxury vacations and dining, ever-expanding credit limits, and not a worry in the world. Does that sound familiar?

Those same people who would have laughed in your face five years ago had you told them the economy was going to collapse and their country would be facing a massive debt default that would leave the majority of their population in poverty – those same people are rumaging through garbage cans in the hopes they can find some bread, rice and vegetables to put on their dinner tables.

    This is reality.

      1. Coming to a town near you!!!

        • So it begins. First as as “Protest”. Then what. And we are still arguing here about what we can do to prevent it instead of just planing on it happening. No not Mad Max or the Road. But there will be a period IMO 6 Months. Where it will be very bad. The only reason it wont turn into Serbia or ?? is we have gun owner that will find each other and we will be in a better at protecting ourselves. Gang are many but they do have a limited resupply and training. And the government will be to busy with the big city. It up to us to take of the rest.

          • The ray of hope….

The people “joined together to loot local grocery stores of three tons of food – some of which was distributed to local food banks:”

            THE PEOPLE JOINED TOGETHER!!!!

That is ALL it will take to beat these banksters. They fear the People “joined together” most of all. That is why much of the propaganda is meant to divide the people.

One Man can do nothing. Millions of men together can do ANYTHING.

It will not happen until they are forced to, but in the end it will happen. Much to the dismay of the banksters who will pay the price for the unity of the People.

            • Yeah I caught that too GC..Unity..I cant wait for Unity to wake up here in this country..because if it doesnt were F’ed..but if it does..this adminisration better look the heck out

            • Unity to steal from a business. Well the shelve will be empty and more out of work. Yes we must join together but against the correct Foe. But at least they tried to work together.

It was just a hungry gang. And a few looking for points with the community

            • Unity and to follow the example of Iceland. It’s our only hope.

              Q. Why aren’t we hearing about Iceland in the MSM, following their financial meltdown a few years back?

              A. The people proscecuted & deposed from power those responsible for te collapse of the banks ponzi schemes. The debts were NOT socialised to the tax payer. They had a tough few years, but have rebuilt and your ordinary Joe is now doing OK thanks. Along the way a genuinely democratically elected new Government was formed that everyone knows only rules under the mandate of the electorate.

Conclusion – Iceland is a nation of Grown ups, our own nations (UK & US etc) are populated by children in adult sized bodies, still looking to Mama NWO to come and save their ass via political systems deliberately designed to suppress us.

The rough times ahead we are facing in the West don’t have to be as damaging or as hard as they are going to be. By not unifying and holding the appropriate individuals to account, and letting the circus continue we are facillitating the advancing trainwreck enmasse.

Western society has infanitilised it’s adult members of society beyond all reasonable hope. Those of us that did grasp the concept of personal responsibility and/or critical thinking skills in spite of the media propaganda & dumbed down “educational system” can only prep and hope to avoid the golden hordes at this stage.

See you on the other side.

            • Facebook, I do understand where you are coming from.

However, the business is a “corporation”, born in the banksters fraud. It is also insured to recover what the people took from it, also through a bankster scam corporation.

If those same people had united to “steal” from a Man and his company, it would be a different story all together. Instead, at least some of the food was taken to a food bank to feed the banksters victims. They became victims only because the corporation was allowed to exist under the banksters fraud in the first place.

In my state constitution, Article I, Section 22, it states the obvious

“That perpetuities and monopolies are contrary to the genius of a free state, and shall not be allowed”

Our battle is against all corporations deriving from the banksters Unlawful monopoly over currency issue. It doesn’t matter what country. It is Man v CORP.

So long as a single private corporation stands, freedom will not. The only reason a corporation exists is to protect the owners from their liability. They are fictions, and as such, unaccountable. Ever tried to punch Walmart in the face?

This country did quite well with companies, owned by men who were ultimately accountable for the acts of the company he owned. It’s downfall began with the creation of the fictional corporations, where no one is responsible for what is does and no one can be held to account for it’s crimes.

A legitimate, publicly chartered corporation that serves the public interest for a limited time is acceptable. A corporation that forms to construct a railway, for example, and then dissolves upon the completion of the particular project it was incorporated for would be acceptable.

That is the way it used to be. And that is the way it will have to be again if the People are to ever experience freedom.

It is not power that corrupts. It is immunity from accountability for misusing power that corrupts. That immunity is the SOLE purpose of corporations, and that is why they must be brought down and totally eradicated from the lands.

If the corporation is a fiction and no man can be held accountable for what it does, who did those people victimize? It was born of fraud, and will get back what it lost through the same fraud.

            • This I agree. But even a Corp Business at this level effects the very people that Raid it. The tactic are wrong not the goal.

And just so I get a point out. Remember these Corp. Most not all are own by shareholders Big and small. Even the ins co. They are affectd by this also.

I do not defend the corp. There needs to be personal responsible place back in the chain to clean it up.

But I still believe the only cure because of how far we are in to this is to tear down and rebuild.

This one is not trying to get a heated response from you, I save that for later.

            • I’ will not give a heated response. I will let Mr. Jefferson speak of what has happened

“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered.”

It has come to pass. Now we MUST remove the corporations and take back control of the issue of currency.

We may be homeless now, but that can be resolved when enough understand why.

            • Complete agreement.

I wish we could find a way to complete all our “wishful thinking” As long as we are divided. And I blame Political Correctness for most of it. To many are AFRAID TO ROCK THE BOAT. Embarrassed because their idea isn’t the same as the pretty people. I believe their is no longer enough room to kick the can any further down the road for many more to see the truth. And they will suffer from it.

I do not have the link There is an incredible “Story” on Survivalblog under Firearm training in odds and ends. Wat make it a graet story is the scenario. It is very scary and I Believe it is Dead on for the up coming EBT Yes EBT not EMP attacks to come.

And I hate the farmer with his dam 4G tower. This was suppose to be an OFF GRID hone now that we move and made this Home base. No where is off grid anymore. This new phone works almost anywhere. I barly need my sat phone anymore unless I on the water. Scary isn’t it.

            • I wont hold my breath on that one for several reasons.

              A) “Unity” isn’t going to replenish the food on the shelves of that supermarket. Nor is wishful thinking. They cannot loot it again until it’s been restocked and that’s not gonna happen more than once.

              B) The supply chain is not going to run on those afore-mentioned dreams of “Unity”. No money for the store means no money for the distributor to restock. That, in turn, means no money for the factory that makes the food and then none for the farmer to buy seed, fertiliser and fuel.

NO FARMING MEANS NO FOOD, and no, we cannot go back to “hands in the dirt” farming. There isn’t the space, the soil or the water (modern irrigation requires electricity and/or fuel).

Thumbs down me if you must but please embrace reality and prep while you can.

            • Yeah way to go fool. They steal from a business one day and when the businesses are all looted they start stealing from the preppers. Anyone who thinks preppers are not going to be targets of both govt. and looters is delusional.

            • Don’t worry about me, Mister W. The looters, Government and others, will have a long hike ahead of them to loot from my larder.

              As for yourself?

              Enjoy starvation.

          • Dont be fooled. Lots of gang members are ex military that are trained and they are training their new recruits..

            • I do not disagree. But there is a difference between a trainer doing the training and someone who may only be good at one thing (Shooting). It take a skilled training to create fighting teams. Most of them will create stupid thugs. They wont complete the training. Think what happen to Luke when he did not do a Yoda said. Usually a soldier can understand tactics it another story to teach them. You know I love my grunts and dogs. But you know it is true.

The gag that will be the most dangourus will be where trained induduvials get togetter. Now those groups I will engage at very long range or just hide. My front feild looks like a pit of crap so I feel I can.

            • This is what collapse looks like, and it’s only just beginning.

              Gold Leader standing by.

            • It only looks like a beginning.

          • And it began in 2008 in Iceland and look at Iceland now !!!
Every piece of bad news and you guys are all like ….AND SO IT STARTS OR BLAH BLAH BLAH

            • Hey Rich,

What brought you back? Didn’t you say you were “done with the doom club?”

            • He did say that. He pulling an Obama. Saying one thing doing another. If you are going to go just go. Even your bullshit is getting old to me. And use to enjoy it. Maybe it time for a new routine. All comedians and politician need to change their act once and awhile.

            • Rich, by now you probably know that I am one of the few people that actually agree with you on some comments so I’ll just comment that Iceland is not the US. In fact Iceland is just about opposite of the US in every way. I’ve traveled there and it’s clear that what happened to them in terms of a collapse shamed them as a culture. They are a proud people that got pissed off with what when down and took action. And that came straight from the mouth of an Icelander to my ears.

In the US, our “feed me, clothe me, buy my child an iPad with my EBT card” culture is so very different. Not to mention that the differences in economy are about as far away as you can get.

I don’t think you’ll see chaos, but I do think you will see a slow, steady decline, loss of jobs, and rise of crime, so prepping is a good idea no matter what.

            • Iceland told the IMF to go get screwed. that is why Iceland is now doing well. Iceland is also not over run with immigrants.

          • Yeah man, embrace the ‘suck’ and do what is necessary to avoid the ‘flush’.

        • Reminds me of the old saying that “Desperate people do desperate things”

Never underestimate someone with an empty stomach.

          • And to be fined 750 euros for eating out of the trash is adding insult to injury…..

These law makers should be ashamed of themselves, but their not. They seem proud of the decisions they make that hold their people in bondage….some will burn in hell for the laws they have imposed on their people.

            • Here’s an idea. When they come to collect it give them 750 euros worth of lead…Don’t have that much? Just give them a deposit with what you have.

              Survival can not be fined.

            • This kind of reminds me of several cities inside the United States, that make it illigal to give food/water to the needy.

This whole thing is turning out to be one horrific joke. And when it back fires, the people will rise up and strike back. The criminals and the innocents will suffer.

God bless and keep on prepping.

            • Illegal for giving food Tina? Really? I plan on growing double the food I need so I can give it away.

            • i wonder if tptb will fine themselves when they find themselves and their family eating out of the trash
              ?

            • Gravlore: Generally those cities do not want individuals going out and feeding those on the street. (Food banks and some feeding programs will accept what you grow.) They want the street people to come to feeding centers. But the street people do not have transportation so they often can’t get to those centers. Also this sounds like an entry into the Agenda 21 rule regarding food control and our own Food Safety and Modernization Act of 2011 that says that we can not share food with anyone outside our own home. The puts the government as the source of all needs. That is at the core of Agenda 21 and communism.

            • I suspect that may be to avoid a large outbreak of disease from eating garbage which they are no longer equipped to deal with. Rats and other vermin most likely have been all over those dumpsters.

        • The Lions make the kill, then comes the wolves ,foxes, hyeanas, ravens, rats ,flies.maggots… kinda a bottom up thing,, get your rest while you can .

        • The last two paragraphs of this article sums it up perfectly. They should be read several times by everyone.

        • Well at least they have free health care

          • Gavjoe says- LOL!!!

          • So does Cuba, you just can’t get any. Ever seen pictures of Cuban medical facilities? Pretty grim, just like Obamacare will be five years into it.

        • I´m spanish and all this news ARE FALSE, believeme, I LIVE HERE. Who stole the food are few trade Unions as a symbolic act to show the situation, but is not real, and as example when they stole food , they put it inside Audis!!!.

The unemployment is high in Spain, but is false too, people works illegaly and then they doesnt pay any tax, here nobody is hungry.

The situation in Spain is not good, but is not as you see in the media.By the way, Fernando Ferfal doesn´t lives here, lives in Ireland, and he knows that this kind of news are “nice to listen” in USA, but are false.
If I show images of homeless in USA doen´t means that the country is collapsed. Don´t believe all, because is not real.

          • Gracias JH — It is helpful to put things into prespective.

            • Thanks to you C ,this summer I listen Daniel Estulin talking in Alex Jones show sayng the same kind of things, talking about Spain as an example of a collapsed country , BUT IT´S FALSE, if he says that here we lives like in California, with a big debt and many other problems, people don´t like to listen this, is not interesting.

We have still millions of immigrants in Spain, if the country is under collapse, ¿why they don´t return or they move to other country in Europe?
              Don´t believe all, please!

        • “the breaking srain is gas approaching, guns and riots. The politicians gamble, they lie to save their skins as the press get fed the scapegoat public enema number one”- Iron Maiden

      2. Things to come in the United States WHEN something finally does happen, which it will. Those people that have prepared are going to have a feeling of security that no others will feel. Preppers will feel rewarded for their efforts. Non-preppers will feel cheated and blame someone other than themselves for their lack of insight and ignorance when “THEY WERE WARNED”.

        • Things seem to be speeding up. Those who are preparing can feel a renewed ‘urgency’ to complete as much as we can – as soon as we can.

18 Indications That Europe Has Become an Economic Black Hole Which is Going to Suck the Life Out of the Global Economy
          (theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/18-indications-that-europe-has-become-an-economic-black-hole-which-is-going-to-suck-the-life-out-of-the-global-economy)

Here is one item that caught my attention:
“The unemployment rate in Spain is over 25 percent. The youth unemployment rate in Spain is well over 50 percent. Spain is a tinderbox that could be set ablaze at any moment.”

The economies around the world are so interconnected. What domino will fall and start things in motion? I have read some say it will be very soon. In the article, he had a link to this…

A recent CNBC article entitled “It’s Coming: One Pro Sees Big Stock Selloff in 10 Days” detailed how some analysts are warning of a major stock market decline later this month.

          His closing words:

“Watch what is happening in Europe very carefully. What Greece, Spain, Italy and France are experiencing right now is going to hit us soon enough.”

          Keep praying and prepping!
          KY Mom

        • Not so much of when, but how soon. What the Prepper sites don’t mention is the frustration and other emotions one feels when you try to warn the non-prepper people around you of the coming disaster. I tired of being treated like I am a deranged fanatic, or a child that one pats on the head and tells to go run off an play. All the warning signs are there, some thing very ugly is going to take place very soon. Exactly what or when the SHTF, I dont know. But I am sure of two things: It will be worse than I thought, and one is never prepared enough.

          • Now you know how the guy holding the sandwich board saying ‘The End is Near’ feels. I gave up trying to warn people years ago and launched a disinformation program poking fun at friends on Facebook who make prep related comments.

3 tons of food does not sound like much for so many people considering what is sitting in my cellar. I may be well provisioned, but still have plenty of projects at the retreat to finish before I have backup systems for my off-grid heat, meat, water, and power. I’m hoping there will be a delay between our arrival and the need for community-wide defensive measures so there will be time to finish some projects.

          • I have quit trying to warn people. Most people prefer oblivion to truth, “No Brain-No Pain”. Save yourself the stress. If there a couple close people, you may want to point out verifiable news items to them, but if they are ready to awaken, they have to do so on thier own now.

That may sound cold, but you cannot save the world. You will be doing good to save yourself, and a few family members and/or friends. Take a deep breath, and don’t worry over people who not concern themselves with the future.

          • Cognitive dissonance and Normalcy bias ring a bell. I here you. I’m telling people, giving copies of dvds free that they dont watch. After talking to them at least twice and no light comes on “I keep it moving.”

          • Jeff, I appreciate yur comments it expresses my frustrations also. I’m stuck in a big city, but in a good neighborhood and we’ll just have to do the best we can with our preps. Working for Uncle Sam, I can’t just leave the area. Add to that a relative dimed us out on Facebook(!) Thinking we are kooks. Hopefully nobody will take it seriously and raid us. We are in for a wild ride– may the Lord have mercy on us and keep the period less than six months… Take care!

      3. I fear this will be the US in October. Everything seems to be lining up. I have soooooo much left to do!

Be Informed, I have enjoyed reading your comments and earthquake info immensely! You are an asset to this site. Take care!

        God Bless!

PS, anyone hear from Manos lately?

        • @ Norse Prepper. Haven’t seen too many of your comments, hope you are well. The time is approaching and you have extremely wise info on much about getting ready. Hope you can share some of this in the future. We all add to this site, there are some truly wonderful comments by many people. It is too bad that some individuals try to ruin it for everyone else, and instead of getting their comments collapsed, add what they know about preparation.

Even those people out there that don’t really have much information on prepping, they can always ask questions that people on this site enjoy helping them with. A teacher once told me that most of the time when someone asks a question, there are many others that want to ask the same question. I don’t think we have much time left, I hope Mac and others start graviating towards the preparation aspect of what is coming. Speculations about how it will happen are okay, but it is growing time to hit the ideas on preparation into high gear.

          • The speculation argument drive hit on the site and revenue. I do like this site, why I keep coming back. But please remember it is For Profit. Proof no forum for us to start the story. Are banter and feud are to entertaining to allow to go to a harder to find forum. Not a complaint just a way of life.
But a few more what to do article could start a few “Feud” I have not had a 5.56/308 Arguements. How about a 10mm to 45 9mm one. My toy is better than your. Those would be fun and people learn. Better than a Product Reveiw.

            • Ok, the 9mm is for those who squat to pee. Adopted by NATO/US to accomodate tha same demographic of the population. The US Marines have learned their lesson and recently contracted for a production run of 12,000 .45 ACP’s. End of discussion.

            • Snuffy,
agreed. I hated my 9mm in iraq. I preferred my m-4 any day. But, for home defense in the middle of the night, I prefer the 9. It has a hard time getting through a wall, so it stands less of a chance of hurting family while exterminating the intruder nicely. especially the M&P with 17 round capacity mags.

            • And the fight begins. Get it on.

            • FB,
no fight from me. I am just happy to be here. 😉
However, the 5.56/.308 debate is always welcome.
They are both awesome. I think everyone should have at least one of each.

            • Bulldog I meant the ammo fight in my first reply to you and snuffy. I do miss those. Some of my best loads for my 416 came from 338/416/50 ammo wars.

And now with the new 64 grain penetrator round the argument can start all over again.

My toy is better than yours. It is It is It is

            • Bulldog just noticed you said M+P. Check serial number there was some found to have a spring issues (Trigger?). My friend has been making a killing doing small factory work lately. Not a recall just seem to be a free fix. Minor fix!!!!. All gun gOOD Glock Better

Disclaimer: I do not have all the facts to this statement. Just general statements from my “Gunsmith Friend”. Works at a General national repair facility.

            • Snuffy I would put my 10mm against any argument you have for the 45. Except suppressed. I do concede that the 45 is the best suppressed heavy round period. HK tac to the rescue.

            • FB,
I recently bought some 225 Grain BTHP .308 to load. I cant find load data for them. It sounds like you may know what I am talking about. Hornady sells them, but doesnt have data for the charge. have you heard of anything?

            • I have learn not to give reloading advise the hard way. Unless it is someone I have trained or know where they were trained. Sorry Suggest a direct call to them. They have always been nice to me.

            • FB,
I agree on the advice. I didnt know if you had seen it in a newer book or site. I would never tell someone what charge. If they screw up one thing on a digital scale and destroy a barrel or a face…. I bought them before I checked the books I have. They are monster bullets. I dont want too much charge (barrel PSI) but, to little and it wont leave the brass. I am going to call Hornady

            • @ Facebook Page. The only problem is that it would nice to have more articles that are preparation driven as the highest profit I can think of is being ready for what is coming. Even a ratio of speculation articles of 10 to 1 to preparation articles would help many. I just don’t know how much time we all have, and the more prepared we all are the better chance we have of surviving when it does happen.

            • An open forum would solve it.

Hey Mac I know you take most Weekend off. Why not set up some open letter starts on a subject. Where we can just comment to comment. Think of all the article idea you would have Monday Morning. And I would keep us engaged for your advertisers.

Just put up a title and a starting comment. Like why I Like this. Or why Nina is off the meds. I bought this. And let it go from there.

Remember most of us prepper don’t party on the weekend. We are in our silos oiling our Guns and checking our supplies of powder eggs. Must resharpen the knife on my back up pack. Sat all ready planed for me.

            • More guns = Happy 64 ECHO MIKE!!!( and probably most others )

          • @ Be Informed – there is a little known site by a young intelligent Mormon woman called Salt and Prepper. (Just search those words.)
She offers several do it yourself projects that are very useful.
One is an oven made from an apple box with double wrappings of heavy duty aluminum foil. It uses a cookie sheet to place briquettes on, some empty metal cans and a cooling rack, a reynolds oven bag to make a window for viewing and a meat thermometer!
It looks pretty cool and usuable – check it out!

      4. Fined up to 750 Euros. Facepalm. Yeah… sure guys, here you go… IOU 750 Euros. You can have it in the year 2250.

        • Seeds are on sale many places now. Buy some extra seeds now.

Off-Grid Worming Recipe for Horses (Most of these items you can grow yourself.)

Use a mixture of 40% sunflower and pumpkin seeds, 30% tobacco leaves (loose pipe tobacco from the store works) and the rest parsley flakes and garlic. Fill up a gallon ice cream bucket and you can worm over 20 horses with it.

According to research, intestinal worms release from the stomach and intestinal lining during the full moon to breed. If you use a mixture such as this or others, the rough texture of the mixture scrapes the worms away and right out of the horses.

It is much cheaper than conventional worming, which can run up to $8/tube every 60 days. And the horse manure (garden fertilizer) isn’t contaminated by the chemicals in the tube wormer. But what most people don’t think about is that horse manure tainted with worming medication is also tainted and will kill the good worms in the soil once the manure is on the ground.”

          • Sorry ky mom it won’t contaminate the soil it is absorbed into the blood stream thru the intestine and kills them that way
BUT the horse meat can be contaminated but just slightly
I carry ivermectin workers for $6.00/ tube and I think even less on my online store

            • Sorry wormers

            • Sorry anonymous KY Mom is correct. Ivermectin products in the manure will continue to kill beneficial stuff in your soil for 28 days post worming. Daily feed through wormer like strongid will eventually sterilize your whole place. Panacure or safeguard does the least damage to your soil.

          • Free Parvo and distemper shots to Kentucky Moms this Saturday at the Bijou theater. Keep preppin !

      5. Same to you. You are always constructive and respectful.

Here would be my top 6 things to do.

1 have shelter and potable water.
2 stockpile as much canned food as you can afford.
3 get a gun to protect yourself, family and prepared. I would actually suggest several guns. Kind of like needing more than 1 club to golf.
4 get seeds and learn to grow and eat perpetually because some day you will have lots of cans.
5 Learn first aid and have the tools and medicine to implement your knowledge.
6 Make peace with your maker. When you know you have eternal life, you will never fear the next 1-80 years. If your god is not my god, I’m not gonna preach here, just be certain you can accept the consequences of being wrong because eternity is a very long time. For me, Christ is my savior and what he went through for me is nothing compared to SHTF scenario. He is waiting for your call anxiously and patiently.

And lastly, just to give everyone a smile, I wanted to tell of a study I recently came across. It broke people down in to two different categories. If you need my help in figuring out how to tell which one you are let me know and I will be happy to assist.

The first category are people who can extrapolated from incomplete data.

        • Extrapolate. Stupid auto correct….

          • Norse, good list.

You forgot get a fishing pole and find a nearby place to drop a hook. It takes a long time to grow food, but you can catch a few fish in the morning and eat lunch and dinner the same day.

Funny how fishing is rarely mentioned here. Poles are cheap and worms are free. Seems like that, and the instant availability of food would be a well discussed topic.

            • Well GC, You are hearing from one of the rarities. I’ve spoken about fishing here sometimes. In fact, just three weeks ago I took the little woman to the best stocked trout area in the southeast mtns. I love to see her catch and get excited. As we pulled in to the campground for a two night stay, we saw the water running wild and dark/dingy. The bottom had fallen out of the sky about three hours before we arrived (150 miles from where we live) and the fish were washed out of the river and streams, and the ponds hadn’t been stocked for three weeks because of hot weather. We fished the holes, hard, for about eight hours the next day,not one fish, and were about to give up when we saw someone with a stringer full leaving one of the ponds. The big rains had cooled the pond water enough, so they had stocked in the early afternoon. Great, we rushed to our favorite spot and sure enough, fish were jumping. With only about an hour of daylight left we were frantic to catch something. Got a few nibbles for the first 30 min.; daylight fading and our 20 fish permits had zero. Started raining, I said a little prayer and hoped for just one fish to get snagged on wifey’s hook. That’s all. Just one and I would sleep better about tomorrow and be happy for her. Then;her reelwas screaming and she fought with the ultra light and the monster for a while and I netted her first ever “big” fish. She was jumping for joy; a beautiful 19 inch four pound rainbow. Content with the setting sun I made one more cast and boom, I snagged a 20 inch 3 1/2 lb. rainbow. She caught two more about 12 inch and i caught another 18 inch. The Lord does answer prayers.

We now have the bulk of them canned and sitting beautifully in our cupboard waiting on the day SHTF.

Now for the bad news. For some reason almost all the fish caught around our county and adjoining counties are full of parasitic worms. Haven’t got to the bottom of it yet but, the small mouth, bluegills and red eyes have them bad. I guess if cooked properly it would be ok, but i can’t get past the idea of eating anything parasitic. Now,I have to check out something else. My neighbor, just two hours ago, said there is a deer pop. die-off from some wierd gnat flying into the nostrils and causing a killer bacterial infection in the deer herds. He says they predict as much as a 30% loss of the deer pop. ??????????…….

Wouldn’t you know it, just in time for deer hunting season. Just when people will soon realize they may need venison for survival. Looking very scary for some folks.

        • Get the first gun first. Stockpile later.

          • Guns? Did someone say “guns”???

You need a max of four guns to protect your stash.

            1. Shotgun + 500 rounds of ammo = Cheap and easy castle protection.

            2. Pistol + 1000 rounds of ammo = Portable/effective personal protection.

            3. Battle Rifle + 1000 rounds of ammo = Mid range/more powerful protection and shotgun backup.

            4. Small Caliber (17 or 22) Accurate Rifle + 5000 rounds of ammo = Small game getter, pest control, security backup.

Just #1 goes a long ways, even if its just a cheap, break action single shot. ($100)

All can be had for less than $2000 if you know how to shop and buy used.

This *IS* your most important prep. Without at least a small complement of arms, your shelter, your food and your life will be taken from you. I would consider getting #1 as your first prep, even before food or other arrangements. Its simple: if you can’t defend it, you won’t have it.

Secondly, be sure you know how to use the weapons. Just having them won’t do you any good.

As far as non-US people, I am sorry. You’ve lost most of your ability to defend yourself. You’ve been forced to step backward some 1500 years. Someone that *DOES* have a gun will be able to get anything they want with little resistance. I can’t tell you what to do, but, knowing what I know, I would have the shotgun and the ammo regardless of local acts, codes, statutes and ordinances. Those “laws” (that are not really laws, but, color or laws) will fade away. The law of the jungle never fades away.

            • Bulk 22lr ammo..525 rnds..20.00

              50 rnd 40 cal s&w 16.00

              50 rnd 16 ga. shells..10.00

these are local prices here in Mass.

              possee

            • There is also another reason for firearm redundancy ownership.. Guns jam, parts break, things wear out..etc..

always have a loaded back up close..never rely on just one firearm. Never!

            • Advice on purchasing firearms is never a “one size fits all” affair. There’s no sense in buying a .22 for hunting or pest control if you live in central L.A.
In most cases there’s also no sense in buying a shotgun AND a battle rifle, especially if you’re on a budget.
Are you bugging out or staying put? Will you have family members to arm? Are they proficient? What can they handle?
A competant family of four, each with a ruger 10/22 is well ahead of a similarly sized family whose only defender is the man of the house with an M4.

              I will say the shotgun has the most merit for the following reasons;
It’s the most versatile for hunting. (slugs, buck and birdshot).
A semi auto can be used with one arm in desperation (say, you’re injured for example),
and last but not least, the gaping end of a 12Gauge will make someone crap their pants a lot faster than the bitty hole at the end of a .223 or even a .308.\
Go to a gun store and look down the barrel of a 12Guage shotgun then imagine someone on the other end of it telling you to shove off.

Do a serious evaluation of your own needs and the needs of your family. The “four guns for uber-survival” mantra is just as silly as recommending a five year wheat store to someone who happens to be gluten intolerant.

            • Netranger, are you prior service?

            • Great advice NetRanger.

            • According to your #’s I have too much ammo per weapon, what should I do with all the extra?:)

            • y99 says:

According to your #’s I have too much ammo per weapon, what should I do with all the extra?:)

              Answer: Add to it.

            • Heretic

there are only 2 situations where you can have too much ammunition

              1. Swimming
              2. On fire

            • Great points NetRanger, I for one am an advocate of gun ownership whether it is for personal protection or sport. I too think if you have guns, you should have quite a bit of ammo to support each caliber that you shoot. Buying ammo in bulk is often cheaper and can often help mitigate against ever rising prices (especially with the speculation surrounding the elections).

I think a few misconceptions that are out there are as follows:

1- You will NEED all of those bullets to protect yourself.

If you really NEED more than 20 rounds to protect yourself in any one instance, that means you are engaged in a full on defense of your home against multiple assaulters. That is a bad day for everyone involved and highly increases your chances of becoming a casualty. Remember military tactics when conducting offensive or defensive operations take into account “acceptable losses” regarding casualties. In a post SHTF environment even a small gunshot would can be deadly. While I agree stockpiling is good, stay away from confrontation and laying low is probably a good idea.

2- People with guns and ammo will be able to do whatever they want.

In some instances this might be true (initially). However the people with guns and ammo who go looking for a fight will most likely end up dead. Those who failed to prepare and go looking to loot the local Wally World will end up shooting it out with 50 other “guys with guns” over the last of the bottled water and ramen noodles. Then what? I’ve often heard people say stuff like “I don’t need to prepare, I’ll just take what I want from a prepper.” Good luck with that…

Guns are an important part of prepping but I would not put them at the absolute top of the list. I’ve read about people stranded in their cars for days or weeks, they surely couldn’t eat or drink bullets. If SHTF and the water runs out you won’t be able to filter that river water with an AR 15. Just “food” for thought.

              Cheers.

              PJ

            • Net, if you all have property that you can practice on, leave the targets that you’ve fired on up/out in the open. This is an additional caution sign to others. I’ve had people tell me they’re intimidated with my shot up targets left in plain sight. I do police all brass, others don’t need to know the cal.of the weapons.

            • PJ, very true, on what you shared. Hope others remember your advice and narrative.

            • Right on Net!

Pistol can be had for $200 if you look around.

              Piece of mind-PRICELESS!

            • As a non US. Person from Canada you can still have means of protection/hunting. As long as you have your proper licenses . I have mine, “gotta do what you gotta do”. I agree that you need some extra ammo on hand for what ever the reason be. But what is your back up plan when you run out of ammo ? Mine is about 320 ft/sec crossbow, still need a little more tweaking on the scope. Remember firearms can be heard a long distance. And you can retrieve an arrow.
              My 2 cents worth.

            • Ausprepper – a .22 and 5000 rounds would take care of a lot of “PESTS” in LA in my opinion.

          • In our opinion, you _may_ die without a weapon. It’s 100% certain, you _will_ die without food and water. The purchase price of one quality gun, enough ammo to be useful and training will finance a 6 month food supply.

I’m not saying don’t have a gun, they’re a critical part of your preparations. But purely personal, we went with the sure thing over the maybe thing in order of priority to prepare against.

            • You can get a ruger 10/22 for 150 or so bucks and go to an Appleseed training for 80 bucks, 5 or 10 if you are a woman or a kid. It don’t get much cheaper or better than that. I have very little experience with rifles, but was able to put up a very tight shot grouping with it the first time I shot it. I am still all over the target with my lever action Henry, although I can kill a pop can most of the time.

            • LOL. You obviously don’t live in the same area I do…

            • They make a cheap, breakdown, double barrel derringer that shoots 45 cal. lr, and 410 shot shells. At least you can dispatch small game with it and have some personal protection for a handful of dollars. JUST SAYIN’

            • tose 410 45lc double barrels are complete shit unles you are talking about a Bond ($400) Those double remind me of the Wild wild west show where the barrel come out of the hammer. Let the gangbanger have them I will thin the heard some before we have to.

            • A 22 rifle with 500 rounds would be sufficient as opposed to nothing. Cost might be $130 total.

It’s not an either all with some doomsday weapons stash. Anything that goes BANG will generally work.

          • Yes but still get the first one first. Because the best gun to have is the one you have. It like leaving your wallet at home. You will probably not need it but if you do.

Netranger is dead on with his set of firearms.
Except if you are on a budget I would get the small cal before the battle rifle. And only go that cheap on your shotgun if is the only weapon you can afford. The shotgun in a SHIF environment can do almost almost every job needed of a firearm. Also there is some people out there even with training should not use a high powered battle rifle. Some just dont have the stones. But a pump rarely will fail anyone.

            • Yep, FP, I did say “cheap”.

        • NP…..Make #6 your #1 and the rest will fall into place.

          • Amen. Wrote that pretty late with what came to mind on my phone, so couldn’t edit it or I would have. Good comments!

            • It is so refreshing reading these posts, not just for the advice, which is very good, it is more the fact that people on this site are polite and respectful of each other, so many other sites these days people are base, just plain mean. Tina, #6 is my #1, NP, great post!

            • Yuhave not been noticing the feuds lately than. There is respect here but lately we hav been infighting. With few exception I Truly believe if it come down to it. We meet on the street we could easily have each others back. But polite. It has been a little hot lately. Mostly because the real/Hard decisions are coming up. Ad when prepping was for “Fun” or to may though a storm it was easy. But mor are realialy that the storm may last a little longer than they though. And te may be alittle nastier than they expected.

        • @ Norse Prepper. Just like I have been trying to warn everyone about the Caribbean plate, 7.6 in Costa Rica, very close to cities, probably many deaths. I tried, I really tried to warn everyone about the Caribbean plate, just like I am waring eveyone else about the other plates.

          • @BI, thought for sure the trio of earthquakes off of Santa Cruz was all we would see. And the Philippines are still experiencing 5.0+ earthquakes every few hours. Looks like the earthquakes are moving south rather than north, anything to that you think?

            • @ you don’t need to know. The Caribbean plate is twisting and the stress is being focused north. This is the way stress is, the focal points are away from the break. Will explain it more so soon. As you can see from the previous posts this was warned about.

            • North, huh..LOL… Will keep watching those ones in the artic and antarctic…. So, if there’s movement in the Caribbean, is that linked to the madrid rather than andres? Im pretty sure that’s what you said… Thanks again!

            • @ you don’t need to know. The Caribbean plate is affected by the Cocos plate drifting northeast, the South American plate with the the collison between the Nazca plate, and the North American plate drifting west by northwest. The New Madrid is influenced by the Caribbean plate, and by anything that would force pressure from the New Madrid’s south. The San Andreas is also affected from being pushed from the San Andreas’ south. Think of both plates locked and waiting fopr something to help jar it loose from their south in Central America, the Caribbean area, and for the San Andreas the Mexico area. Sorry if I did not make that clear before.

          • Hello everyone, BI youre batting well over 850, keep it up and someone has no choice but to come and talk to you, beautiful analysis!! Really everyone its a preppers paradise at the moment, at the local pawn shop yesterday I acquired in almost new condition a 5.25kw generator for 250 usd. The local big lot store had all lawn and garden at 75% off, I focused on the mini green houses and the few larger ones that were left. For those that are new here please take the time and effort required to learn the skill of growing your own food, the importance can’t be over stressed. If you grow from seeds a little trick I’ve learned to protect them from weevils and such is dust them in wood ash and store, also if you have fruit and nut trees spread wood ash a thin layer in November and again in early March this will prevent fruit rot and other ailments that plague your
trees. Fuel, let me share a bit….whenever I fill my vehicles I always skim a few gallons and put into a 5 gallon jug, then I transfer into tanks that I’ve salvaged and repaired , a scrap yard will sell you fuel tanks fairly cheap. It doesnt take long to build up 300 gallons for your reserves. Pertaining to ammo and firearms, well use your head on this, we are in mixed company here so discretion is best. To those that are new dont feel as if its to late, use guerilla tactics to get up to speed on your preparations. Dedicate 10 percent of your earnings on a weekly basis and soon you will feel the euphoria of having you and your family in a better position to deal with that, which is headed our way. With Godspeed, prep guerilla style, stay alert, discretion is key.

            • @ Gregory
Really liked your idea of filling the gas tanks little by little we picked up a couple tanks at an auction and haven’t had them filled because of the cost, guess I will start on that now for the gas. We have diesel delevered for the tractors but can’t afford to fill both gas and diesel. Thanks for teh info.

            • @ Gregory the watcher. You and so many other people are prime examples of why more of the site should dedicated to preparation. Most everyone seems to light up when they talk about preparation and giving ideas on what they do to ready themselves. People here truly enjoy talking about being prepared. You are correct, you will feel the euphoria of having to be deal with what is coming. I truly feel our time is limited, especially with the internet with each other. The more all of us can share with each other, the more ideas we all have and more importantly, the more INSPIRATION we all have to go that extra mile to add that extra something to the preps.

      6. Morning All

I went on my monthly ‘stock shop’ yesterday and I swear I have never seen prices like it. The big companies seem to be holding the basics prices to some degree but the package sizes are visibly smaller than they were. I spent a stupid amount and none of it on luxury or even fancy items.

With prices rising the way they are I am not waiting a month until I next stock up, I will be going back as soon as I have the money to do so hopefully insulating myself a little from further price hikes.

Prepping is becoming harder and harder due to this and it is blatant the situation is going to get worse.

        I pity us all.

        Take care

        • @Burt…just to let you know, we finally got rain yesterday! No more dish water (for now)!!

Agree with you on the food prices though, same here “in my neck of the woods” I am thinking of getting out today for more, especially if there are any specials, will buy extras for barter.

          take care across the pond……

        • Burt

          Good morning

Purchase an extra can or 2 of beans, chicken, tuna, salmon, whatever every time you shop..and check the label for ingredients as well.

I find this the easiest way to buildup stocks.

Next time I will buy extra pain relievers,antiseptics,bandages..etc..

          Next trip purified water (gallons).

          Next trip t.p,soaps,bleach, etc..

An extra 3-5 dollars each trip should be slated strictly for emergency supplies and we go without one unnecessary item each time..

          Just my 2 cents..

          Take care

            • Trade value I was in a very remote country once and didn’t have any soft rear cleaning equipment at all. I gave up GOLD for a roll of TP from a resupply pilot. I gave more on the Black Market for it than I did for Johnnie Walker.

        • Burt! Wondering how the gun club thing is going, did it happen? Havent seen any posts about it lately, let me know

          • Peteropolis

I was denied membership after lengthy questioning all of which had nothing to do with guns.
I am still waiting for the official letter.

            • Burt you are in the UK. Just confirming to help me understand. I have been having Club problems also. But are in the US

Update (NetRanger and others)still waiting to see the final damage to Gun Shows In WA state. It doesn’t look good.

            • Facebook

Yes I am in a large city in the UK. Had a long discussion with the police, bearing in mind I have an enhanced criminal records check in order to do my job, this covers EVERY run in with the law including juvenile encounters. My record is totally clean. In addition the person who proposed my membership is a police officer who is a member of the club.

The official reason I have been given is that I am not the type of person they are looking for at this time. I have asked them to give me this in writing.

        • Burt,

Hang on the prices are going to sky rocket in the winter.. Here I hit every sale in all the small towns are us and still get great prices, Found slabs of ribeyes last week for 3.99 a pound.Loaded up the freezers.
Now for the bad news for me, today we got hit with 60 mph winds and pea size hail,, My garden is now gone, along with all my blackberries,Raspberries and grapes..
Glad to see you doing good other then all that..

        @ Tractor Supply BTW.

      10. get your stores gathered and your ammo stacked, kids… the fat lady is standing on the stage nervously tapping the mic with her fat, stubby fingers waiting for the cue… what will it be…?? another fraud election…?? a false flag event..?? will it be another “war” somewhere that we stupidly involve ourselves in..?? maybe a deep(yet controlled) fall in the bloated market…? how about a wave of kidnappings and illegal detentions like happened a couple weeks ago to the Marine who was on fb…?? have they pushed the real America too far yet or are there further atrocities yet to be perpetrated against us..?? when and where will the break come that spills us over the edge from which there will be no “recovery” nor turning back..?? i advocate for none of these things but the conditions we live in make a case for themselves…

        • PP, I suspect that there will be many more attacks, each on small segments of the population.

They will do what they can to prevent pissing us all off at the same time. That is a recipe for defeat and the banksters know it.

        • Doesn’t the US fiscal year being October 1st-Sept. 30?

          Prepared Pastor,

I was thinking of the fat lady on the stage analogy, myself.

          • I didn’t post that. Prepping Preacher is a different person. I personally believe we will hold it together until the election. Hope is a powerful force.

            • Thank you for the clarification. I hope you and your family are well!

            • I’m hoping we WILL be able to hold it togther well past the next – – – election and kidnapping and blatant theft of our rights and set of illegal laws handed down and hanged around our necks like trophies by the bestowers… the coming election will be nothing more than an affirmation of the prior administration’s misdeeds and illegal actions against the American People and our Constitution.. my hope is ultimately in Christ and His soon return… but until He does, I’m readying for the possibility of more trouble on this Earth than has ever been seen… as Joseph was instructed to prepare Egypt for 7 years of famine, so we’re trying to prepare for the trouble looming in our near future – however long it may be…

          • Funny how a collapse in a printed currency can kill more people than bullets. Food can still be grown, homes can still be built etc etc, but you take away perception of wealth and all of it seems to turn to vapor.

      11. The actions of those in the film are signs of anger and desperation. And that’s just the beginning because it’s limited now to a few of the worst areas in Spain where unemployment is high. Wait and see what happens when the delivery-system breaks down. NONE of those people have prepared for their safety or their future, yet they have been living with the obvious!

It’s really not much different here in the USA. So it won’t be long before this scenario plays out here either. At first, the crimes will be intercepted by law enforcers. But as our own system of law breaks down, the crimes will increase in quantity and in violence. Then comes the looting. Then rioting. Or maybe rioting will be the catalyst because everyone’s “entitled” and people have not planned for their own safety or their future — if they had planned and been prepared, they wouldn’t be mooching off the government. When the government cuts (or cannot pay) the entitlements, all hell will break loose. Remember, there’s 100 million getting government benefits — that’s 1/3 of our population. IT. IS. NOT. SUSTAINABLE.

Most of us here already know these things. Prepare for your safety. Prepare for your future. So get what you can while you can. Food, water…you know the necessities! If you don’t, ask. If you don’t know ‘how much’ to store, ask.

Saving money at this point is a bad investment strategy. Use your money while you can. Invest in yourself and in your future. It’s going to be difficult. It’s going to be extreme. Be the survivor you want to be. You’ll live and not regret it.

        • The best investments you can make these days are more ammo and food. Some things you can get at the local level, such as rice and beans but what about eggs, butter, meat and such that will keep without refrigeration? We got some very good scrambled egg mix from srmarketplace.com Between that and a ton of oatmeal and pancake mix we are all set for a while at least for breakfasts!

          • Dana, you’re on the right track w/ your breakfasts. Now work on your dinner meals. Rice and beans are an excellent base for complementary protein in a meal. Think of a second grain like oat groats which can be slow-cooked and served as a side or as a breakfast. Then there is pasta — that has a decent shelf life and pasta is a good carb for most folks. Also, don’t forget that there is good variety with beans. And then there are lentils which have high nutritional value, plus they cook faster than beans do. Make sure you have adequate salt and some extra spices and herbs — flavors add interest to meals, especially when those meals seem repetitive.

We store via our pantry, freezers, and long term storage buckets. If the grid goes down, we have backup energy sources for a while and plan accordingly. We have chickens, goats, rabbits, and pigs so we rely on their products to give us some of our fresh food supply. We also plan for a ‘what if’ scenario without any of these animals so we have canned pickled eggs and also have 10# cans of dehydrated eggs (commercially prepared). Goats give us our milk so we have all dairy products we need with them (milk, yoghurt, butter, cream, cheeses, etc). Even with our own little dairy, we also have dehydrated milk, canned butter (commercially prepared), canned ghee (canned by yours-truly), and some dehydrated shredded cheeses (commercially prepared). Fresh and dried — redundant in a way, but good “food insurance”.

We butcher our own meats so we can split up the preservation and freeze some, can some. In a grid-down scenario, we’d hook up one of the gennys and fire up the propane ring, then get a canning-marathon going so we wouldn’t lose the frozen meats. And yes, we have plenty of spare quart jars at-the-ready.

If you don’t do it yet, learn to ‘cook from scratch’. Then you can adjust your storage for basic ingredients and stop using mixes that don’t have a long shelf life.

            • Since I have started prepping I have learned to do a lot from scratch wish I would of known some of the stuff when I started, would of saved money and got a lot more things, at least I am learning and prepping better now.
btw I get corn from the feed stores cracked for grinding and whole for making masa. Also get sodium bicarbonate ( baking soda) from the feed store for 10.00 for 50 lbs use it to cook with and cleaning products.

            • Zolt, thank you.

        • My Father always said when you think you have all you need store twice as much, if it’s wood for the fire store three times…My dad is awe some.

        • Yup, spend it now but not to the point it can not be paid back if this whole thing miraculously heals itself. Now till November I am doing some heavy buying. If it does heal itself, the only way I see it is with devalued money.

      12. The backstory on this report is that the looting was organized by a local demagogue, (town mayor) who saw it as an opportunity to curry favor with his mob. I doubt that the mob would have done it spontaneously, as there is just as much of a safety net in Spain as there is here. That’s part of their problem. They’ve gotten so much of the population dependent on the dole that the national productivity is insufficient to meet the national needs.

      13. Mac, got a website entered in so whats with the moderation? Haven’t had it before…..

      14. Nothing to see here. Move along….

      15. Stories like this one make all those containers of stored beans and rice seem more significant; and the months/years of prepping all the more worth it.
I think I’ll go to Walmarket today and purchase another 20 lbs. of dry pintos with a 3oz. glass bottle of real bacon bits,a 16 oz. bottle of olive oil, and bottle of liquid smoke for seasonings. With our equal amounts of daily rice servings already on hand, we will have about another months worth of basic calories in storage.
Oh, can’t forget the corn muffin mix(just add water variety) more calories and something to put some honey on. If you have never tried it, it will suprise you how good a piece of warm, buttered cornbread tastes with some good quality honey on it. YuMmm Mmmm good!

        • On our end, we have put up over 200 ready made.nutrition balanced meals in qt mason jars of all varieties…just in case of no grid or heat scenarios..

Each qt has lots of greens and root veges as well as anti oxidants i.e. garlic and onions

          Just open and eat..

          Here’s a few..
          Ham and bean soup
          Veal peppers and onions
          Chicken & kale
          Vegetable beef
          Black beans and chicken

          etc

          etc

          possee

          • That’s a great idea. My mom just the other day was talking about the “old folks” canning pre-made soup mix, which no one seems to do any more (those that can at all do 1 thing at a time). And I hadn’t thought of it myself (I’m just starting to can) but immediately recognized it as a great idea. And you have some some great suggestions (wouldn’t mind more!). I may go for the black beans & chicken first…

            • I just got a pressure canner in order to start canning soups and such. I am planning to can chicken gumbo (based on the old school roux from lard and custom made andouille sausage…it is hard to find really good pre made andouille in the north) and a base soup of chicken and vegetables that can, down the road, become chicken and noodles or chicken dumplings. Since I have about a gazillion pounds of tomatoes in the freezer I will probably do some kind of tomato soup too. I like to get a lot of fancy pumpkins and squash for Halloween decorations, then they go into basement storage and become soup for the rest of the winter (don’t let them get frosted or they won’t store).

In the past I would freeze a lot of food, but with the power outage caused by the derocho storm I am thinking canning is wiser. Plus the jars full of food are just so beautiful…it creates more of a sense of accomplishment than when you just stash it in the freezer.

            • BTW Possee, how do you do your chicken and kale? My kale plants are huge, and I am not sure if I can use the big leaves, or if I should cut everything back now to get a new crop of small leaves that will be sweeter when frosted. But that reminds me of another great soup recipe that will use a lot of veggies and beans….Portuguese kale soup, although again, it is very important to get really good chorizo sausage. And of course, all these soups become transcendent if you are able to raise (or afford) REAL chickens and turn them into stock. Factory chickens are not worth the effort.

          • I canned some clam chowder base. It does need milk (but you probably have powdered milk stored anyway). Just a suggestion to add to your list. I need to try the black beans & chicken.

          • Possee

Those sound really tasty. I think it’s important to recognised that just because we have adequate food we are not always adequately nourished. Getting vitamins and minerals from stored food is the optimum if you can.

            Take care

            • Yesterday I was unexpectedly home with a sick child. I used come of my home canned chicken and made the most delicious chicken soup we’ve ever had. I can my chicken in quarts and put my dry ingredients (rice, spices, and dehydrated vegetables) for different soups and casseroles in pint jars, or small mylar bags, and vaccuum seal them. For me that works and gives me a lot more variety. This could easily be cooked in a dutch oven over a fire.

Good luck to all of you!

            • I hear ya Burt. I realize my Centrum (or whatever multi you use) is not near the quality of food that contains the same, but it is still apart of my preps. Always a year ahead on the exp dates. My toddlers have gummies and Flintstone vitamins as well.

          • Great ideas! I have a good ham and corn chowder recipe that I’m trying to tweak for safe canning. Soups are the best for feeling good in winter. I always have a pot simmering when my husband and sons get back from splitting wood. Better than cocoa. Any other ideas?

Also, for vitamin rich canned goods, stock up on pumpkin during the Thanksgiving sales. Pumpkin skyrocketed for some reason this year, and while I have a few that will ripen from the garden, this was not a good year for anything. Pumpkin is one of the best sources of vitamin A and it cans well. Also, don’t forget hominy which is almost never on sale. Am not sure it’s good for anything except a dense starch and fair source of fiber, but that’s valuable as well. If you’re traveling to the south or mid-south, buy a few jars of real Blackstrap Molasses. You can’t get the same thing in northern grocery stores, and it handles a lot of small problems.

Any other ideas on good canning combos will be very much appreicated! Thanks!

            • Heresy Vicky. While I have soup out the wazoo I also have 8kg of bakers cocoa. Love it straight up and bitter as heck in my hot water.

          • potatoes, bacon bits, onion and corn.

didn’t know it was so easy to can potatoes; since i don’t have a cellar it’s a good way to put them up.

thanks for the other great suggestions possee!

        • A favorite of mine is maple syrup on cornbread, especially using freshly ground white corn meal. Hadn’t thought about liquid smoke, thanks for the tip.

        • HOW do you bake in SHTF ?.
          With a Backpacker oven ?.

          • You can bake anytime in a Sun Oven – as long as there is sun shining outside.

You can buy one or build one. If you buy one, get one with a glass cover vs. a plastic lid. The glass will last much longer.

I have a ‘Global Sun Oven’. It works great! The cooking time is longer than in a regular oven. You can bake/cook anything in a sun oven that you could in a regular oven. I have fixed many different things in the sun oven – pinto beans, homemade soup, cupcakes, brownies, spare ribs, pot roast…to name just a few. An added bonus is that clean up is very easy. 🙂

(foodstoragemadeeasy.net) has information about the sun oven.

            • I’ve found an alternative to toilet paper, thats if anyones willing to give it a go one day, because its good to know ahead of time the practical preps. Try using a pine cone as oppossed to a corn cob…No really ! Dont knockit if you havent tried it. P.S. USE THE LEADING EDGE !

            • @bearG- been there done it.

Also, if you have not tried pine tea, try it.

Out of 4 kids (8-16 yrs of age) over last weekend only 1 liked it, it is GOOD stuff I think.

              A little pasted info-

              Pasted-

Pine Needle Tea has long been a favorite of traditional and indigenous peoples, both for it’s refreshment and for it’s medicinal values.

You may not realize that Pine Needle Tea contains 4-5 times the Vitamin C of fresh-squeezed orange juice, and is high in Vitamin A. It is also an expectorant (thins mucus secretions), decongestant, and can be used as an antiseptic wash when cooled. So not only does it taste good, but it’s good for you!
Each varietal of pine has it’s own flavor to impart, so experiment and see which needles you like best. And feel free to mix and match! My personal favorite is a combination of 1 part white pine with 2 parts pitch, where Julie prefers straight balsam.

          • I have a folding oven that sits on the wood stove in the winter and the outdoor rocket stove in the summer. We also have a 4 burner stove with a gas oven from an RV and enough propane to run that and the instant H2O heater for about a year. I have the components to build a solar oven here, but we have to walk so far to get sunlight in the summer that I’m in no hurry.

            • I recently purchased a ORION Smoker from my local hardware store. I now smoke everything. Ever had a smoked roast??? 🙂 Yummy. Anyway, the fire never touches the food, the fire stays on the outside. I can smoke a huge turkey in 3 hours, drunk chicken, 1.5 hours, 5 pound roast in 2 hours. They recommend charcoal, but if you want to keep feeding it during the cooking time, wood will work or any other source of heat. do a search for it. They dont sell it at lowes, but the local place Stines in Louisiana has it. Just because TSHF, doesnt mean your food should taste like cardboard.

            • Do any of yall use dehydrated peanut butter? I bought some and when I make it it is great, but it goes rancid too fast. (like in a day or two) Any idea what to do?

          • John, there are plans to make solar ovens online — they’re not difficult to make at all (unless you want a sophisticated one). Go to solarcooking-dot-org and see all of the nifty examples that folks have made.

We have a wood cook stove to bake with if our regular propane oven is not working. We also have a rocket stove, tripod set-up, and a wood-burning grill. Because we like to eat. 🙂

          • StoveTec works when the sun isnt out. Home made versions work well too. Wood will still cook food in the fog of war.

          • In a worst case scenario? You can find a piece of pipe about 3 to 4 ft minimum. 4 to 6 inch diameter will work, and build a little outdoor oven with a mixture of mud, rocks, and portland (dry cement). A steel wire shelve from an old frigerator or oven will work for the rack set atop some 8 inch blocks. May have to double the size if oven is bigger and more permanent, kinda like a group thing.

Better yet, start with a metal garbage can,lay it down build the mud and rocks around it while making sure you have enough room to set the lid on and off as a door. You will need to have some metal snips to open up the back end/top side for fittin the flue pipe in. Figure how to make a shelf inside for setting pans on and building fire underneath. Get innovative. Of course you will have to be near a wooded area or near a pallet factory to have enough firewood to make your endeavor pay off.

          • John – Baking did not come about with the invention of electricity dude. Wood burning stoves with cast iron cookware, firepits, all kinds of modern camping stuff,if you want to bake something you’ll figure it out. Theory is a great thing.

          • Got a small propane oven I removed out of a wrecked camper. I just added the proper hose fittings & pressure regulator. Use it in our hunter’s base camp cook tent. Only problem is the size allows one loaf of bread at a time.

        • Damn straight—I have been to the storage room a few times to make sure it’s still there–and just let out a big sigh!!
But, sorry, if I can’t have real cornbread–I ain’t eatin’ bread!! Got powdered buttermilk, and powdered eggs for that…..no egg??? Use unflavored gelatin; it works; directions on internet at ‘ask.com’.

        • Got this from Kurt Saxon’s site several years ago. Tastes pretty good & works for me. You can substitute a can of broth for the equal part water in the final cooking. I run my grains & beans through a electric stone mill without sifting & run the corn last to clean stones:

          by Kurt Saxon

Here’s a staple food which I concocted which anyone can make and would be a guarantee against hunger. It is a combination of one fourth each of ground pinto beans, corn, wheat and rye.

          Bean And Three-Grain Loaf

          5½ cups water

          2 cups (10 oz) meal

          2 tsp. salt

          1 tsp. poultry seasoning

          2 tsp. chili powder

          1 tsp. black pepper

          3 tsp. onion powder

(Or use whatever flavoring you like)

This is best cooked in a one-gallon crock pot, which you should have, as it’s the cheapest on energy, costs less than $25.00 at Wal-Mart and lasts forever.

First, grind one pound each of beans, corn, wheat and rye. For fineness, screen after each grinding to save grinding the fine over and over. Build a simple wood frame, a foot square by six inches deep. Glue or staple a piece of window screen, bought at any hardware store.

As you grind each pound you’ll be left with maybe 15% husks which just won’t grind and will stay in the sieve. The corn husks you discard as they have no value. But the husks of the beans, wheat and rye are good cooked in soups. The other husks, taken in liquid by the heaping teaspoonful, will act as a better laxative than any you can buy. On the other hand, the cooked meal, itself, is excellent roughage, and will clean out your intestinal tract of all the bad bacteria and disease-causing matter and you’ll feel better and never get colon cancer. It’s a real health food.

Mix the meal and measure out two cups and mix in the seasonings. Put 5½ cups of hot water in the crock pot and dribble in the meal, stirring with a fork, as the meal has a tendency to lump.

Cook for two hours, stirring every half hour with a fork, especially at the bottom. When done, remove the crock pot and wrap a towel around it so you don’t burn yourself. Pour the contents into a greased bread baking pan. (Mine is 5½ inches wide by 9½ inches long by 2½ inches deep on the inside). This recipe makes a three-pound loaf.

Put a piece of plastic wrap over the top of the pan of hot meal or an unpleasant crust will form. Put the pan in a cool place overnight. By the next morning it will have become firm. Slide a knife around the ends and sides and turn the loaf out on a platter or such and cover it with plastic wrap. The process of preparing this food doesn’t take more than five minutes. To use it, peel back the wrap and cut it into quarter-inch slices and fry it on both sides in a hot skillet. Serve with bacon and eggs or whatever you wish for any meal. You’ll never go hungry and will save a lot of money on food

          Hope this helps some.
          Best to the Preps.

      16. @Prepping Preacher,
Sooooooooooo you watched her give her speech last night?

        • LOL noooooo… i haven’t watched political tv charades for decades… i just know what i’m seeing all around me and sense in the air…

      17. A socialist mayor in southern Spain started this nonesense when he led his town’s people to raid the local grocery stores. Now that the food is gone what are you going to do next genius? What are you going to do next time the the store bars the doors and window and hires armed guards? If the store owner comes back, the guards will only let a few folks at a time in who must show that they have enough money to pay for the food, which now costs even more to pay for the stolen food, the bars, and the guards Mr. Mayor? And what are you going to do if these strores close permanently? At nearly $8.00 a gal. for gasoline I guess you and your poor out of work citizens could car pool to the next town or village and try that crap there! The problem with most Liberals is their lack of self contol. Most of the ones I know have all the emotional maturity of a 15 year old and they act accordingly without regard to the consequences, as with this case in Spain. Their impulsiveness is what makes Liberals so dangerous. We’ll see some of this crap soon enough here in America.

      18. Nothing new here. We saw the same stuff in Baghdad, half the guys we were trying to find were putting in IED’s for $100 which would feed a family of 6 for a month. Desperate people will do desperate things.

      19. I told my wife that our credit rating is about to take a hit, food first, then credit cards. I was wondering how everyone else is thinking these days, am I off the wall, or am I being prudent? I’d like to hear from others on what and how they are preparing.

        • I would not antagonize the banks unless I was desperate. Certainly I wouldn’t regard credit as “free money.” The banks will not go down that quickly or easily and your debt will not be erased even if the one that holds your particular card goes under. It will be transferred. Perhaps you could get thru bankruptcy to legally and officially discharge the debt, but don’t count on “chaos” to do it for you. There is nothing but down side to that move.

          • Thanks for the input, I do not see it as free money, yes we incurred the debt, and as an adult I know I am responsible for it. I just hope that when the shtf I will be in a position to see it coming at least a couple of weeks ahead. Now all I need to do is learn how to discern WHEN it will happen, it is no longer an if.

            • CJ, i bought a year supply (fam of 5) from food insurance about a year ago. I also have around 1000 pounds of pinto beans as well as flour. The beans are to help others. Also, been buying food storage in small amounts along the way.
Built a brick oven, amazing food but also a great backup plan.
I watch walgreens clearance items and now have lots of sanitation, first aid etc. Epsom salt is cheap and very versitile.
I have lots of “early detection” supplys, eg, fishing string with bells for a trip wire. Fishing string with fish hooks tied in a web pattern is an excellent trap/deterrent when tied on your outter perimeter.
Im not comfortable sharing what I have for trading and bartering, but I have some stuff.
I bought seeds in cans for an emergency garden.
Went to a restaurant supply store and bought 100s of sterno cans for very cheap (boiling water) quick heat.
As for weapons, i keep a machete and a pistol on the nightstand. I also follow the same theory that netranger posted above. Except, I have a large calibur rifle to take out engine blocks.
We made a couple berkey filters for much less than you can buy a premade one for.
              The list goes on.

            • Yeah, but it’s not even a moral thing. It’s just that the banks are set up such that they will make you pay some way, and I would hate for that to be on top of any other problems that may be coming this way.

            • Screw the banks……they have no conscience and neither should you…..Rack them up on your preps and file for bankruptcy a few months after that…If you have a few grand on them pay it off ASAP and be done with them….If you owe anything over 15-20K forget about it….you will never pay it off and they will crush you with interest. Its not honest debt, and don’t give it another thought…good luck

          • The banks will hold you to the debt via the UCC. You can run, but you can’t hide. Eventually both debt and death catch up with you.

        • CJ: Paying off your cards means less interest payments down the road. At some point, rates will just have to increase. Don’t forget, every missed payment ALSO carries a late fee. Then the late fee is added to the total and you pay interest on the increased amount.

When cash flow is slow, I juggle the cards this way: essential items that I can’t avoid buying get put on an empty card as soon as possible after the closing date. This gives me about 6-7 weeks before that is due (28 days to the next close and then the 2 weeks or so until the payment due date.) I make sure to keep track of these charges and put a little aside each week so I can pay it off in full before the due date. Most cards actually require a minimum number of charges each year to avoid inactivity fees, so there are other advantages to using them this way. I use cards w/point rewards, so at least I also get the 1%-5% back. Discover and Amazon Chase card points are redeemable on Amazon. Combined w/promotions, I then save on Amazon when I order books. I just bought 4 mass market paperbacks that totaled $22 after using points + free shipping + promotions. That is an easy amount to pay off when it comes due. Had I bought the books when I first wanted them in the first publication, those 4 would have ended up costing me $60+.

Food for preps is not really expensive. Rice, pasta, beans, tomato sauce, vegetables, condiments, bouillon, are all affordable, especially purchased a bit at a time every week and on sale. When my Paypal account can handle it (retail sales from one of our businesses), I add canned meat, canned butter, other items available from camping suppliers online. We have rotated through our stores several times in the past 4 years, except for the long-shelf-life items, but we will use the oldest freeze-dried food for camping trips. When the food stores are full up for the space available, we add propane, batteries of all sorts, whatever else we may need. We try to make sure the items are all suitable for camping, use on the sailboat, storms so we aren’t sitting on piles of items only designated for SHTF.

None of us knows when or even the extent of any SHTF scenario. Don’t panic. It is a lifestyle, not a one-off situation. Don’t forget to keep some currency and some silver at hand, keep a supply for powder and lead and be able to reload, inventory your tools and think about things like inexpensive chain saw sharpeners, rope, chain, whatever you can use now or in any sort of emergency. When one area is covered, such as paper products, just forget it until you are down to a 6-month supply and use that money to fill in wherever else. Once you reach a 1-year supply, it is best to rotate it into current use.

Nothing saps your preparedness like debt that accumulates interest and fees. If something large and essential breaks, shop around for a 12-month-same-as-cash deal. Pay it off ASAP, but that way you don’t have to put out several hundred or thousand at one time plus interest and sales tax. Some large ticket items even have 18-month no interest deals.

Maybe you can negotiate a lower phone bill or a lower budget payment on utilities. That will also free up cash.
Unsubscribe to pay TV, get a $100 streaming device and thereafter just a 1 DVD at a time Netflix subscription. This cuts entertainment down to $16/month plus your broadband. I just renegotiated my communications bundle and cut it in half, with most of it going to broadband. And I need to maintain a landline for electric outages plus a Yellow Pages listing, which is my best business advertising venue.

All that savings can go into a fund to make sure you can pay your property taxes in a time of low cash flow.

I call this maintaining an economic situational awareness.

        • Don’t worry about your credit rating, its just numbers in a system thats been broken for a very long time. I for one stopped using CC’s five years ago, theres no point. Save your money for emergency’s (I prefer silver bars) and save your money for extras. If you have only a small amount on the cards, pay it off. If you’re 50K in the hole, forget it file for bankruptcy so you dont have to make minimum payments and can put that money to preps. I know you feel its your duty to pay the money back, as you had agreed to the terms, but its a bank, they’re all bad as they’ve all done nothing about FRN’s and have complied thoroughly with the establishment since day 1. The money isnt even real. Bring them a bag of hot air if you want, they gave you no different (bring two, one for interest).

          • Just write them an IOU if you feel you must do something. It would have the same value as the FRN credits you were “loaned”.

What would happen if you did not pay? The accounts would get charged off after 180 days from the LAST payment, effectively discharging the debt to the extent possible under the current laws. you may be banned from the credit system, but that is a good thing.

They may turn it over to a collection agency, but they can not collect. A charge was made to an account, and it was discharged according to Public Policy. No harm, no foul. Just a bit of stuff recovered from the banksters who have stolen everything with a toxic currency under an undisclosed maritime lien.

            • word of warning

for discharged debts you may get a 1099 form

which means you have to pay taxes on the “forgiven debt”

            • That may be true if the forgive the debt rather than it being discharged through bankruptcy. I try to file every seven years as the law allows and have never gotten one. Student loans are not dischargable, but the government is not any better at collecting them than anything else. I’ve never made a payment since I graduated in 1988 and although I work for the government they have never garnished me. They do keep your tax refunds so make sure to claim extra exemptions on your W-4 so you owe them at the end of the year. They will keep 15% of my social security if I and the program live that long.

Don’t hate the player. . . Hate the game.

            • GC, you rock. I like reading what you post every week. PS I have three Republic of Texas houses on my street, and they say the same thing.

            • There is a special form, that if filed by a banking institution, will render the debt they had to charge off, even thru bankruptcy, as payment directly to you in the form/likeness of a 1099 payment.

A friend of mine got one after he had filed bankruptcy, on a debt from one of his creditors, and he asked me about it. I told him he should talk to his bankruptcy attorney. He said screw it, all that debt was dismissed and it’s just some BS. Wrong! A few months later he was informed by the IRS that he had made a mistake on his taxes and he didn’t show about $8500.00 in income that was reported by the creditor. He cried bull-shit! He fought the Law (IRS), and the law won. After the late penalties, fees and taxes, he made payments to the IRS until the approx. $1200.00 debt was paid. It could have been avoided if he had not thrown the little card from the creditor, away; and just sent it to his bankruptcy attorney. The IRS sure didn’t throw their copy away.

            • Satori, you are right that the IRS will try to steal from you based on fraudulent information returns. That’s why it has been almost 20 years since I have filed anything with them.

dont tread, your friend was dumb. All he had to do was tell the IRS he would be glad to correct the error and pay any additional taxes on the unclaimed income, but they first need to validate it by sending him a signed copy of the information return made under penalty of perjury so he could validate it.

He cried BS. He argued with them, and they will always win those arguments, not through Law but by commercial fraud. The IRS is not a taxing authority for the United States. It is a collection agency for the Fed, nothing more. Offer to pay when they validate the debt, and they will disappear back into the hole they crawled out of.

            • You better pay better attention. Some states allow debtors to be jailed using the legal system and the no show rule. Not a good idea. pay the minimum to keep them off your back while you declare bankruptcy.

          • While I agree taking on more debt is never a good idea, I’m not sure sure about advocating simply filing for bankruptcy because it seems convenient. Bankruptcy does not offer the clean slate many believe it does, not all of your liabilities will simply be wiped away so you can make a fresh start. Not to mention, although we are facing serious circumstances in our world one should strive to remain as responsible as possible.

I’m not sure if I understand the “I know you agreed to the terms but it’s a bank and they’re all bad” concept. While I certainly do not agree with much of the establishment’s (or whatever your term is for it) actions, I don’t think that gives one the right to simply walk away from agreed upon responsibilities, if even for your own piece of mind. If SHTF and it all goes in the toilet we will deal with it at that time.

Also I agree the “money” isn’t real, which is why you should take out all paper currency that you have and send it to me. It’s worthless after all, so you won’t care. 🙂

            Cheers

            PJ

            • @ PJ Prepper

I agree. People shouldn’t file for bankruptcy just because it’s convenient, or just because they have been foolish.
It should be used only as a way to get a “fresh start” when things go wrong; like medical problems/bills that would take a whole lifetime to pay back, or a business that just couldn’t turn around and would ruin a person’s chance for any kind of pleasant life.

We had a couple of friends, notice I said “had”; that have no children, live a lavish lifestyle(compared to the average person), always buy topshelf (the latest newest and trendy) and then almost give the stuff away.
They ran up over $30,000.00 in credit card debt while continuing their lifestyle and going on four to eight vacation/expensive trips per year. They eat at the finer restaurants. Both have executive type jobs and fly all around the country. Live in a 300K $$ home and drive expensive vehicles.

They filed bankruptcy because they had maxxed out all their credit and couldn’t get anymore for their lavish spending. They manuvered their assets around and worked the system and then filed bankruptcy. They got to keep everything. After debt was discharged, and they stockpiled some cash savings, they sold almost all their expensive items they had purchased previously on credit(that got discharged), and started buying newer, more expensive stuff, just like before. Hell, they even got new credit cards.

The worst part, besides screwing over the taxpayers, is that they were/are “big” christians in their “mega style modern” church. She was/is youth advisor and counselor and he was/is associate pastor, that secretly goes to Titty Bars. Of course, only a few people know about their bankruptcy. They would never let their “church” friends/associates know about it. We couldn’t get past the whole thing. I refuse to associate with “fake” people, especially fake christians. The wifey speaks to the woman occasionally but all I see in them is self-indulgent frauds. I won’t live my life that way and i can’t condone such activity.
People that use the system like those two are no better than career welfare people that are able to work and contribute to society, but won’t. They fit into the same category of people that file bankruptcy every seven years just because they can. Sometimes the people they “screw” out of money and jobs are average people and not just “Big Banks”.

          • If you just stop paying they will definitely send you to a collection agency. If you ignore them, they will sue you. If they sue you they can attach liens to your property, garnish your wages, and other nasty things to get their money. My bankruptcy gets filed today, screw them all!!! It is stressful to go through though, I can’t wait until it is finally discharged and over with….

            • @ MXLord327

Just be on the lookout if one of your creditors decides to send you a form(usually just like a 1099 card) that says you must report that “discharged debt” as income for the year.

It doesn’t happen often but it can and will. Just ask my friend that ignored his.

        • CJ

I have a credit card that I use once a month, a few pounds on it and then pay off. The card is there for one reason only….when I get the vibe that the cliff edge is reached I will be using every available penny of the limit for extra food and essentials. If nothing happens I will pay it off over the following few months. If something happens me owing a few hundred on a credit card will be the least of my worries.

          Take care

        • Cash purchases as much as possible, especially when items are on sale, minimal paper trail by not using a credit card.
Do the best you can because it is still better than doing nothing.
One day at a time, hang in there, God bless you and yours.

      20. Fortify your home cuz somebody is going to try and enter. Have plenty of ammo to discourage them and lots of canned and dry goods to keep you going, water too, Think about what you need if the water and electricity goes off. Iys good to have backups and backups to backups. Hunker down and keep a watch.

        • Fortify the home or make it appear as if it was already looted and nothing of value remains? If you sandbag the home, put up triple strand concertina wire and are hunkered down with 15 assault rifles and 10,000 rounds of ammo you still are no match against a guy with a bow and fire tipped arrow (this means your suburban home will burn to the ground). That or 15 to 20 assaulters who keyed in on your position because it appeared to have something of value worth defending (this means there is no possible way of holding them off).

As an alternative, how about busting out all your windows, tossing items all over your lawn and ripping the door off the hinges? If I were a looter I wouldn’t waste time hitting a home that has already been ransacked, rather I’d look for stuff people want to protect. Just an idea…

      21. Canned Ravioli is still 85 cents at Walmart, but their stocks are running low. Bought a bunch of Biscuit and Corn Bread mix last year and happy I did now. Stocked up on TP, Cisco, and Velvetta Cheese, all of which can be stored at room temps. Also been buying Hormel “Completes” at Target for under $2.00,they are also shelf stable, and canning like crazy.

Picked up x20 1/10 oz gold coins yesterday to add to our rainy day fund.

Have a buddy/brother in the gun business, last weekend they sold out of 9mm & 5.56. No M1A mags, very few AK mags, still can get Glock, M-9, and AR mags.

Starting the process to double the size of our garden for next year. Will also be purchasing enough plywood to cover every room in the house next week.

Gas at $3.79 in Minneapolis area…..God Bless America

        • Everything canned has BPA in the lining, female estrogen cancer causing – as little as five cans a soup a week is considered too much.
Corn bread mixes are GMO DNA altering poison.
Crisco isn’t even food, it will sit in you artoris and build up to a heart attack,
And neither is velveta, seriously? Really? It is a toxic soup of plastic ingredients!
Real cheese lasts a year wrapped in wax and stored cool.
Go heavy on your own canned meals, in glass, wrapped with newspaer and stored on the bottom pantry shelves.

WHO CARES-I’M EATING THE STUFF-NOT YOU DICKWEED!

So sorry that I didn’t prep only organic stuff for you. (sarc)

            • Over reacting a bit maybe?
That is the scarry part of all of this.
People get so attached to a way of thinking that their minds shut down to new information.
I too am not going organic unless I grow it or trade for it. But any wise person would realize that chemicals are not food nor will provide the good nourishment one needs, nor sustain health for very long.
And you can call me a vagina weed, I have no dick.
And I do not expect you to prep any thing for me, what a childish comment.

            • Not knowing the dangers in processed food – is not the same as knowing and not caring – do some research for your health’s sake.

            • I’m very concerned about toxins in my diet. I try to stay as natural as possible. Now the little woman would live and die with nothing but corndogs and poptarts running thru her veins. Did i say, “She hates to cook”. Well that makes two of us. I hate for her to cook also. That’s why i do 99.9% of it.

If we are in a full out SHTF scenario, I may, die within a couple of years anyway, and want to; so if my body is full of BPA,GMO,DNA altering poisons, it will be with a full gut of it. No belly button scraping my backbone. Not no, but Hell No. I grew up hungry most of the time. I sure as hell ain’t gonna die that way. Give me some more twinkies and a bottle of chablis. I’ll keep my pistol in my pocket just in case I run out of food or become too sick to get it.

          • @ HalfKin:

“Eden” brand of organic canned goods have BPA free non toxic lining of their cans. They also can their tomatoes in amber jars, with BPA free lids. They have a pretty good variety of canned goods……

          The Great Dictator – speech

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IvPIWzQcUY

        • I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an emperor. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone, if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness — not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another.
In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.
The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood, for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world — millions of despairing men, women and little children — victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me, I say — do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed — the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people and so long as men die, liberty will never perish.
Soldiers! Don’t give yourselves to brutes — men who despise you — enslave you — who regiment your lives — tell you what to do — what to think or what to feel! Who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men — machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don’t hate! Only the unloved hate — the unloved and the unnatural!
Soldiers! Don’t fight for slavery! Fight for liberty! In the 17th Chapter of St. Luke it is written: “the Kingdom of God is within man” — not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people have the power — the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.
Then, in the name of democracy, let us use that power! Let us all unite! Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give youth the future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie! They do not fulfill their promise; they never will. Dictators free themselves, but they enslave the people! Now, let us fight to fulfill that promise! Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness.
Soldiers! In the name of democracy, let us all unite!
          [Cheers]
Hannah, can you hear me? Wherever you are, look up, Hannah. The clouds are lifting. The sun is breaking through. We are coming out of the darkness into the light. We are coming into a new world, a kindlier world, where men will rise above their hate, their greed and brutality. Look up, Hannah. The soul of man has been given wings, and at last he is beginning to fly. He is flying into the rainbow — into the light of hope, into the future, the glorious future that belongs to you, to me and to all of us. Look up, Hannah. Look up.

          • Awesome 🙂

      23. I think we have at the most maybe 45 days, so prep no matter what else you do. We can never be prep to the max, it is impossible. Get canning lids if you plan on canning you stuff, you can never have to many of these. Been oven canning flour, oatmeal, etc., as long as it is dry foods. Set oven at 200, fill your jars 3/4 or so full, place in oven for 1-1 1/2 hrs on a cookie sheet, remove jars one at a time, then place lids and rings on and let cool to seal. Life on canned food like this 20+ yrs. Easy to do you get about 1 lb. of flour to the Qt jar. Also been making hamburger rocks. Fry 2 times, but wash off grease between fryings. Then place on cookie sheet in over at 325 till all moisture is gone about 45min- to 1 hour stir offend. Then can, freezer, vac pac.etc. To use soak over night in water.

        • copperhead,
We made alot of hamburger rocks before ground meat went up. Have you stored it long? I am wondering the lifetime of it. We dehydrate, vacuum pack with oxygen packs and put in mylar. I am guessing a couple of years?????

          • @Bulldog: I can in jars like in the oven canning have some we tried that where 5yrs was still good.

            • @copperhead,
Thanks alot. I am going to continue to make them as ground meat goes on sale. Honeyville sells them already in the #10 can, but I prefer to do them myself. We dehydrate alot of our storage, but buy some already done. Meat is a little more tricky, so we mostly dehydrate veggies and fruits.

        • Why do you think 45 days? Fill us in.

      24. this is worth your time reading …

        Enemies Inside The Gates

Of late I haven’t read all of Jim Willie’s posts. There has just been too much to do of late. Harvesting and drying vegetables from the garden and preparing in other ways for what is coming. I encourage you to read this one. Jim has a knack of combining financial news with other news and is usually right on target. For instance in this article he warns of QE-3 at the next Federal Reverse meeting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Willie’s article is a few days old but here is the announcement.
Not only endless bonds being bought by the Federal Reserve, which used to be the buyer of last resort and illegal for bonds lasting years. The sad fact is there aren’t any legitimate buyers for all the bonds to support the continued war efforts, in more countries than I care to count.
Another interesting article came out on August 27, (Note: Reuters is owned by Rothschild who also has a large share in the Federal Reserve) Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Charles Evans says to buy bonds until the unemployment rate is not in decline. Note the article says sometime in 2015 the unemployment rate will drop to 7% if the Fed starts buying bonds.

        • Both cia zog puppet prez candidates are anti-firearms, so the right to keep and bear arms is dead regardless of which candidate wins. Past case law makes all treaties that are signed by the Senate, have to comply with the Constitution. That can change if challenged again. But what about an Executive Order? Because that is what is planned with the United Nations Small Arms Treaty. Don’t wait for Martial Law, because we have been under it since the Civil War. A State Of Emergency has existed since the southern states succeeded from the Union giving the President emergency rule.

          cont …

        • Now these I understood.

      25. First post and I have a question. It seems most in this community are anti government mooching. It has been my experience with America, that since the beginning of time, there has been a group of people here trying to receive extra benefit off the production of others through some dishonest manipulation. The person producing the most gets paid the least and up the ladder it goes. In your opinion is there something morally wrong with an unemployment check in one hand and an EBT card in the other while working self employed for cash under the table to gather preps? People sucking off the government are helping get the gravy off the train faster. This is good for preppers. The sooner the gravy runs out the sooner we can return to a society where your value is based off of your production and not an association or manipulation. Bring on the collapse so these hard working nobody’s can be somebody’s someday because we know how to produce goods and services that actually benefit society. Do you folks think that if you, Barack Obama and Donald Trump were standing naked in the middle of the woods in the land of no government that maybe you might be the powerful great leader. The US dollar is in the way of good honest people becoming the leaders.

        • I personally feel most of us are against government mooching. I am talking long term, some people need help for a short time. I have no problem with this, it’s the people on welfare forever I have a problem with. There are also the truly needy, mentality ill ,truly disabled, and other case by case factors. While I think there needs to be a reset, I worry what will happen to my brother. He is retarded and schizophrenic, he really needs to government help. My parents, sister and other brother do as much as possible (I live really far) they can’t do everything. His medications are paid for, he lives in a group home and does work. But he is not capable of supporting himself. He is what I worry about in a SHTF scenario . Without meds he will have to be locked up, he will be a danger to himself and others.

      26. Just a reminder of who to blame for when the S hits us all

WASHINGTON – The Treasury Department said Tuesday that the national debt has topped $16 trillion, the result of chronic government deficits that have poured more than $50,000 worth of red ink onto federal ledgers for every man, woman and child in the United States.

“Of all the broken promises from President Obama, this is probably the worst one, because this debt is threatening jobs today, it’s threatening prosperity today and it is guaranteeing that our children and grandchildren get a diminished future,”

      27. Now all my buckets of rice, wheat, etc and the #10 cans make our efforts feel more rewarding. I just hope 1.5 years for a family of four is enough for the road ahead until I meet my maker.

      28. This will be the norm when the SHTF.

      29. I have a questions! Never really know when to ask them, especially when they are not related to the article, but this one is, somewhat. I have a cabin in the North, rustic. We haven’t went up there in the winter for the past few years, but my questions is: If I store food there, that is in Mylar bags and in buckets, would it last during the winter and still be Ok for the years to come? We had a very easy winter this year, but you never know what the next will bring. I have keep can goods there which have frozen but still seem to be alright. They are usually used up by the next summer, but for long term, which I don’t think will be much longer, should it be alright or not. Thanks for any help. Kind of a newbie, but on the fast track.

        • It will be fine for a couple years. It would probably be edible after 8 or 10 years, but not much for nutrients. Try to store at 70 degrees if possible. Freezing is not as bad as heat. Heat will burn food out quick.

          • Thanks, just starting thinking that I really don’t have much up there (as for food) and if I had to leave my home and all my supplies along with it I wouldn’t be in good shape with the food situation but good with everything else.

            • Store dehydrated foods in vacuum sealed bags and then in glass jars or metal containers so the insects and vermin can’t chew thru. It won’t matter if the temp drops to 20 below. The food stuffs will be just as good as when you sealed them. A lot lighter to carry then liquid based stuff, too.

        • Seal well and bury it. I know some disagree. I live in a north wet area and I have had very few failures of m stashes items. And most of the failure come back on me as operator failure.

        • If at all possible, dig a root cellar under the house. Your food should be ok year round. My granny used to put all her canned goods in the cellar and often covered it with straw. Good Luck.

        • Just be sure its safe from critters…2 and 4 legged…SHTF and these remote houses and camps are going to get sacked in most cases…just common theives and hard luck people will both be looking for anything of value…I personally keep my stash in several places, they get one theyll not likely find the others…just a thought!

      31. Breaking — a 7.9 earthquake hit Costa Rica.

Where’s our resident-expert, Be Informed? Talk to us!

        • @ Zoltanne. Please see the Sept.3 article on which I warned Puerto Rico that the Caribbean plate was ready to fail at 10:56 PM and 7:52 PM on that article. I hope that someone saw this post before it happened and prepared. I am now warning everyone that this further stressed out the San Andreas and the New Madrid fault. I hope that the people in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are taking my warning seriously because the eastern part of the Caribbean plate is A LOT worse than the western section. I said that until Thursday the world was not safe from what happened in the Greenland Sea last week. The world is also not safe from the lesser 5.3 in which the 6.4 in Java was also forecasted, not the right section of the Austrailian plate, but on this plate. I will try to give more forecasts later after I have further studied it.

          • In your opinion, how far wide do you assess the damage in ky??
I look at the counties, and each NM area map, I am just outside that area.
I’m really worried, but been worried for a year or more.

            • @ jayjay. If the New Madrid breaks western Kentucky does have to worry, the eastern part, not really. This is very old rock that the middle part of the country is sitting on and vibrates a lot harder and longer than the younger rock on the west coast. Remember the 1812 earthquakes rung chuch bells in Boston. The San Andreas had similar size quakes and did not even get close to the distance of the New Madrid. A 8 pointer at 250 miles away could be like being within 75-125 miles away from the San Andreas when it breaks. Much depends also on the direction of the earthquake waves.

There is a reason why the government is monitoring the hell out of the New Madrid, THEY KNOW. Anything from the south this strong on the Carribean plate affects the New Madrid and the San Andreas. Anything over a 7.5 rings the entire planet like a big gong. There is some major sh^& going on right now and the government knows it and is of course not telling the people. What else can be expect from a government that likes using the black marker pen on almost all documents that are suppose to be free for people to look at.

            • @BI, if a New Madrid break wouldn’t even be felt in eastern Kentucky, why is there such a doom and gloom feel to that particular event? I honestly don’t know, so I’m not trying to be a smart-butt. Whenever I hear about a big New Madrid quake, its like the country is going to break in half or something…

            • @ Todd. The country would not split apart, but the economic damage that will occur it might as well. You can jack up the force of the earthquake .5-1.5 points more so than you would have on the Pacific plate because of the older much harder rock. I said you would not have to worry much the further you go away from the main shock, but oh boy will you feel it when it breaks. The amount of shear damage will be much reduced though to most houses and business. The amount of energy is normally halved every 8 miles out from an earthquake. In the case of the New Madrid this might be a little further.

The distance between western Kentucky and eastern Kentucky is almost 450 miles, this will reduce the energy magnitudes, but they will still feel it just like back in 1812 that they felt it on the east coast. The amount of shear energy will be dimished much though.

The destruction to the economy will be catastrophic as it will likely hit somewhere between 3-15 trillion. Yes that is T not B as in billion. The homes and buildings in this area are not built to withstand such an earthquake. In fact that buildings in california and even Japan are not built to withstand it. The Mississippi River ran backwards when in broke in 1812. The liquidification factor of the soil will make homes within 50 miles of the falut shake like they are on Jello. Sand geysers erupted all over the fault zone last time. This is like suddenly squeeze a sponge and watching the water squirt out. Again, it is the rock under the ground that is going to amplify the vibrations big time.

I still am not making any imminent forecast of the New Madrid breaking. In my 14 areas to watch out for in the Aug.10 artilce I did not include the New Madrid fault because it is not as primed as the San Andreas and the other areas. Keep getting earthquakes like this that push at the fault and I might just give a forecast for the fault. I just know that with the government down there sticking probes in everywhere like a pin cushion around the New Madrid they suspect something is getting to that level that is of a lot of concern.

I don’t think you are a smart-butt, all you want is what we all want, answers. I wish I had the answers, but I am learning also and trying out new approaches to try to figure out what is going on. It seems to be working and it would be nice to narrow it down on location and exact time.

          • Thanks so much, BI.

            • @ Puerto Rico. I am sorry people are not listening to what could be their funeral. maybe you could show them what was commented on BEFORE it happened and they would be more liekly to listen. This prediction of the Caribbean plate was made back on August 10 and since then the plate has had 2 major earthquakes, the El Salvador at 7.4 and the Costa rican one this morning. I don’t see how someone that lives in this area cannoty see these predictions that came true and not be horrified at the ticking time bomb they sit on. These posts were before the fact.

605 events of the Puerto Rico Trench is a lot and exactly what I suspect. I truly feel sorry for you, I, Mac, the people on this site, and other preppers that try to help others and warn them and they don’t listen.

I gave many locations as warnings about comments before this one. An 8+ earthquake is coming, 90% sure of this to the Caribbean plate, the time I don’t yet know. I will try to pinpoint this based on earthquakes from other spots in the world. The Caribbean plate right now is trying to resettle, but this won’t happen, it will go big time. Stay safe, and remember that after an earthquake there will be glass everywhere, have shoes nearby you always. Watch the coastline because the tsunamis will be horrible. Please let us know about anything you hear about the trench or anything else.

      32. We all need to get mentally, emotionally and spiritually prepared for what is ahead.

If we understand what is happening and we come up with a plan to go through it, we will be in far, far better position to endure the coming crisis than people that are totally blindsided by it.

A recent article on shtfplan.com entitled “How Horrific Will It Be For The Non-Prepper” explored some of these ideas more fully. I encourage people to go check it out.

For the moment, most people will just go on with their lives as if nothing is wrong because times are still quite good.

But time is running out. In fact, we might not have much time left at all before the next major downturn.

A recent CNBC article entitled “It’s Coming: One Pro Sees Big Stock Selloff in 10 Days” detailed how some analysts are warning of a major stock market decline later this month….

An equity strategist for Goldman Sachs is predicting a September selloff that happens so rapidly he is telling clients to protect themselves before Sept. 14.

The reason: Market disappointment over key meetings of the European Central Bank and Federal Reserve—all within the next 10 days.

September may turn out to be a bad month for stocks or it might end up being just fine.

But one thing is for sure.

        Time is running out.

        Are you ready?

Cooper wrote of the Illuminati as a secret international organization controlled by the Bilderberg Group that conspired with other individual organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, the Masons, and Skull and Bones, and whose ultimate goal was the establishment of a New World Order. According to Cooper, the Illuminati conspirators not only invented alien threats for their own gain, but actively conspired with extraterrestrials to take over the world.[4] Cooper believed that James Forrestal’s fatal fall from a window on the sixteenth floor of Bethesda Hospital was connected to the alleged secret committee, Majestic-12, and that JASON advisory group scientists reported to an elite group of Trilateral Commission and Council on Foreign Relations executive committee members who were high-ranking members of the Illuminati.

      33. The World is slowly starving to death!

        • But the USA is full of Fat Yes I said Fat people. If you look down and cant see it you are fat.

          • I was in the shower/locker room at the gym the other day and a fat guy walked in with a towel around his butt and it wouldn’t even close together.

Having heard him cutting up and joking around with the other guys, i felt ok with joking with him about his weight. i said, “man you sure are toteing around a big shed for such a little bit of tools”. He laughed big and said, “Yea, I work out but i can’t seem to get it to go away”. I said, ” How do you know it’s not gone away, I bet it’s been forever since you have seen your goob. Why don’t you just diet?” He said ” Well I might, what color is it now?…………….

        • Not to worry. In a few years it will be quickly starving to death. Once Obama kills the US energy supply there will be no farming. Then the fun begins.

      34. Yes…..there was a large earthquake off the coast of costa Rica as Zoltanne stated above… Be Informed …I also would like to hear what you have to say on this matter….I read your posts about earthquakes and it seems like you might know what you are talking about.

        • @ badpuppydog. I like to give signs on what to look for before something happens. Just like the new moon period 5 days before to 5 days after is likely when Israel will strike Iran. I have found when there is activity in the polar regions north of 70 degrees north, and/or south of 60 degrees south there are bigger earthquakes coming somewhere in the world. Through calculating the plates and their movement from the polar earthquakes you can get a general idea of where an earthquake is going to occur. This method has proven itself over the months on comments on this site before the earthquake has occurred. One can go back and verify this as proof. Only twice has this not worked.

On August 10 there was 14 areas to watch out for large earthquakes, already two of these areas have been hit, the Caribbean plate twice now. The Caribbean plate is in very bad shape right now and the eastern portion is going to break and break hard, 8+. The plate is right now going through a tremendous amount of trying to reposition itself, which it will when the eastern portion of it breaks. This area is primed, from the central portion of it near the Dominican Republic to east of the Lesser Antilles, down to the Venezuela area.

Smaller plates are really doomed to be shallowed up by the larger plates, just as normally something much bigger overwhelms the smaller mass. The Caribbean Sea is actually closing up from the west and east. People have much to worry about here.

Other plates affect each other, and I for years tried to forecast earthquakes using the local action, the moon because of tidal force, and other means that failed miserably. Only until the broader picture of the entire system of the planet was used did predictions start to pan out. Also using a globe rather than a flat map helped immensely to see how plates affect each other based on the curve of the planet. You would think looking at a flat map that one plate would more a certain way, then when you put it onto a globe the entire picture changes and one can see how the plates interact on a three dimensional scale.

Using a flat piece of string or tape measurer you can see how if you place it directly straight and leave the tape as flat as possible it doesn’t follow a path west or east, it curves off north or south depending on where you are. Plates follow this curve and don’t fllow the deceptive flat maps that we see. Everyone should get a globe and try this and see just how different it is than what most schools teach in Geography.

      35. Capital is flying from Spanish banks and Spain has officially started emergency lending. Watch for signs similar to that here. It is a good time to make sure you have an emergency supply of cash in small denominations on hand. We may just wake up one Monday morning to bank holidays. By their own admission the govt was close to doing so in early 2009. Keep watching the indicators and prepare expeditiously.

      36. ON DEATH (Ecclesiastes)

As to the good, so to the sinner…..The living know that they will die…the dead know nothing…..

Do you know Jesus? The one who paid for your screw ups, errors, law breaking, and sins. All those dark little thoughts and acts which you feel guilty about.

We are all going to face judgement, in a sense Jesus is your get out of Jail free card. Open your heart today and ask Jesus to save you, free yourself from your fear, anger and guilt.

        • a few more quotes from Jesus himself.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

          Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Matthew 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Not my words that was what Jesus said. Ask yourself again Are you right with Your maker? Is your heart filled with such hate? if so you are NOT right with your maker.

Matthew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Matthew 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Matthew 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Makes you wonder about ppl who say they are christians and yet harbor so much hate?

Yes we are not perfect we ARE sinners, but that does not excuse us from the fact we need to try at least to be better.

I used to hate the banksters, Yes i dislike what they do and how they are treating our brothers and sisters, But to hate is to give into the very evil we detest. To hate is to be like them to HATE IS NOT OF JESUS!

          • But, to hate evil and “abominations” to God, is being Christ like. Hate is not all wrong. I hate “political correctness”. I hate faggots too, especially those that come out of the closet and try to teach our children that it is OK, just because they have infitrated the mega churches and the government. I won’t coddle up to the homosexual agenda or anyone that takes the life of the unborn. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.

      37. Distant relatives and long lost friends will come calling when food runs out, as well as strangers who will not be so polite! In Amerika we have been de-sensitized to violence and stupified by the MSM, so nasty situations will arise in a scramble for food once the realization sinks in that the government won’t be coming to the rescue.
Best to be out of harm’s way and have several stashes of food without advertising how smart I am to anyone who’ll listen!

2nd- guns are great and I own & know how to use one, but never under estimate dogs. My choice are herd dogs, especially border collies. Mine live under foot. They work hard & there’s NOTHING u can’t teach them. Treated with love & respect they will protect u with their lives. They can add a lot of fire power to your gun.

        • If you have the time and patience, add one or two Akitas to your pack.

First of all, they will give the Border Collies something to herd. If you get them as puppies, they will treat the BCs as kids to protect while allowing the BCs to rule the roost. Akitas can be trained to bark at intruders, especially the females, but they are naturally silent and will instinctively block with all 115 lbs of their bodies while grumbling in a manner sure to intimidate anyone not of their pack. Male/female pairs were bred in Japan to hold bears and boar until the hunter arrived. They are also used as child guardians in Japan. They take some time to train, as they are naturally very independent, as well as intelligent. Guarding is their inbred purpose, but they are loving and gentle with their own pack, including babies and cats, and can be socialized to be very calm when told someone is not a threat. They can be trained as therapy and guide dogs, which speaks to their innate temperament. They have a bad press mostly due to idiots who try to train them to fight. They need a loving hand and an established human pack leader. If kept in beta or omega pack positions, they are very easy to handle, but if one of the betas dies, they will quickly move into that position on their own. Same sex pairs will fight, so a singleton or mixed sex pair is best.

We just had to put our Akita down at an advanced age and we have chosen the parents for our next one. Puppies are best to begin with, as you can train them before they have a clue as to their own intimidating qualities. It is worth it to take the time to investigate breeders and bloodlines, even for a neutered pet (and they are best at guarding if neutered as young as possible). I love this breed, although I do appreciate Border Collies. But the BCs really need a purpose in life, while an adult Akita is content to watch and wait most of the time. They are very frugal eaters for their size.

I found the Provident Living link to be accurate. Everyone should read it. It reflects our storage fairly well.

        • it is impossible for me to recommend this book too much

          http://www.ldsavow.com/PrepManualGeneral.html

          download is free
or better yet buy a hard copy for about $26.00
          it is money WELL spent
the manual does include some Mormon theology
but don’t let that dissuade you if your not of the Mormon faith
          good information is good information

also an easy and inexpensive way to build up on the basics of food storage is this LDS site
          http://store.lds.org/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/TopCategories1_715839595_10557_-1_

they don’t sell freeze dried meals
but they do sell the basics in cases of #10 cans
          pinto beans,rice,wheat,oats,flour

          shipping is free
but you do have to pay Utah sales tax

easy and inexpensive way to get started
I buy a couple cases of something every month

        • Ashtocole….Border collies are also our breed of choice. They can seem a little hyperactive at times, but give them a job to do and they will do it without question and love it.Everyone around here uses them to help round up their livestock. They are also excellent watchdogs. When we used to raise rabbits our BC (gone now) would even “round” them up when they were loose. Our current BC “Frank” rounds up our chickens if they get loose. lol

        • “one ring to find them, one ring that binds them all” if there are any that have any doubts as to the seriousness of what we face start pulling the thread on N.O. Commentary 6:11. Cooper knew way too much….it goes way beyond a NWO. ITS a 4.dimensional puzzle.

      39. How do these “Robin Hoods” get off robbing a store? The store owners are trying to make a living too. Do they carry insurance for events like this? You or I wouldn’t put up with this crap. What about property rights every one goes on about?

        • These people think it’s their “right” to take that food. The government has probably provided for many of them their entire lives.

This depression will be NOTHING like 1929. People don’t know how to take care of themselves, family or friends anymore.

      40. Governments and Politicians are to blame for all of this. As are the greedy citizens who voted in those clowns so they could have more “free” stuff.

        Sickening.

Will our equally greedy American citizens learn from this? No way. Most of them are just too stupid or don’t care as long as they “get theirs”.

      41. This is an attempt to prepare people, please listen very close if you are in the following areas; Venezuela, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, St. Lucia, Martinique, Dominica, Guadelope, Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat, Puetro Rico, Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, and all other little islands within the Windward and Leeward Islands, BEWARE. The Carribbean plate is being twisted around by the Cocos plate, the South American plate, and the North American plate. It is almost certain now that a massive earthquake is coming to the eastern and central part of the plate.

This plate is small and cannot take the pressure from the other plates. It is being twisted around and compressed. In other words the pther plates are trying to shrink the Caribbean Sea. Anyone that lives here should be preparing for a 8+ earthquake.

All other people that live on the coast within 1500 miles of the Caribbean Sea should also be aware of tsunamis when the Caribbean plate lets loose. The time frame of this is undetermined as the Caribbean plate tries to resettle itself in. This process will not last and the eastern section will break, possibly the central also.

People that are planning to take a vacation in this zone should also be ready for a large earthquake and beware of the fundamentals of tsunamis and what to look for. Will try to further advice people of what is coming when the signs of pressure build up become more apparent.

        • Thanks BI for your predictions! What about Florida?

          • @ you don’t need to know. Florida’s really only danger is tsunamis. You can go inland miles and only go up the heighth of an average person. Walls of water have to have something to slow it down and finally stop it. Much of Florida does not have that friction that other areas have to slow down a tsunami as much. Everyone sees how storm surge works. Of course distance reduces the energy of the tsunami and why I gave a distance of 1500 miles radius within a break of the Puerto Rico trench area. I guess if some of those oil deposits around the area broke loose this could be a big problem to the beaches. There are actually some smaller ancient faults around the Gulf of Mexico that could be triggered by such an earthquake, but those faults are probably only capable of low 6 range at worst.

        • I’m in Eastern Indiana…how’s that looking?

          • @ Trying. The most shaking here would be a long 5.3-5.8 type of magnitude. In other words what you would feel would be like a nearby mid 5 range for not seconds, but a couple of minutes or so.

      42. sept 5th 2012 Updated at 12:17 p.m. ET: A major earthquake hit northwestern Costa Rica on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The quake — initially given a magnitude of 7.9 but then revised to 7.6 — struck at 10:42 a.m. ET at a depth of about 25 miles and about seven miles southeast of Nicoya, a town of some 15,000 people on a coastal area on the Pacific about 90 miles from the capital San Jose.

        • “15,000 people on a coastal area on the Pacific”. That was one-helluva-quake if Costa Rica is now on the “Pacific”. LOL.

          • UNSOLICITED GEOGRAPHY LESSON. Just checking for “others” with Gulf Coast/Pacific Coast within the same country geographical potential. Just won an argument with “the wife”. LMAO.

        • Hi

      43. Glad to see the sky is still falling on this site. My question remains. How long does it take for a sky to fall?

        • It’s dopes like you that don’t prepare and come crawling to us for a handout. Thing is some of us might not be so charitable.

        • Right up until the time it hits you square in the face and yer not ready for it..exactly that amount of time

          are you ready for it?

        • It depends. If you don’t have your eyes open it only takes a split second, and you never see it coming, and never know what hit you.

          • There are 3 types of people, those that see, those that see when shown, and those that refuse to see at all.

        • Why

For many it already has and for the rest of us it has started its downwards plunge. If you are saying you haven’t noticed this you are either blind and deaf, a member of the elite or a liar.

If you are blind and deaf, I’m sorry for your incapacity.
If you are one of the elite may you rot in eternal damnation
If you are a liar, stick around you may learn something

          Take care

      44. Daveyboy: Welcome aboard. To answer your question, I think people should do everything they can legally and morally to prepare. I hope you’ve been prepping yourself; time is running out and of the essence. A lot of good things will come out of the economic collapse and post-SHTF period. No more welfare state; people will HAVE TO WORK or they don’t eat. We’ll have the kind of nation God intended for us to have. To everyone: Check out this article; a very plausible scenario for post-SHTF: westernrifleshooters. wordpress.com/2012/09/03/bracken-when-the-music-stops-how-americas-cities-may-explode-in-violence/

@ jayjay. If the New Madrid breaks western Kentucky does have to worry, the eastern part, not really.

Well, I’m in Logan County on the Tn. line.
        http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/maps/kentucky_map.html

        • If the New Madrid pops like in the 1800’s the game is over.

        • @ jayjay. Treat this like you would if you lived in San Diego, you will most definitely get nailed, not as bad as others but nailed. Your prepping skills will be utilized well. It might be a bad idea to have some supplies stored up the won’t be prone to a collpased house, just as back up in case your foundation of your house cannot take the shaking. I am not convinced the New Madrid is going to break yet, but the odds have increased a lot in the past few days. I am going more by what is going on AWAY from the New Madrid fault rather than what is going on nearby, this seems to be working with other predictions.

          • BIS,
What is the fault line that occured in Virginia few yrs ago?And how will that fair?

            Thanks

            • @ 10mm. This fault I studied after it broke and was surprised at the intensity of this earthquake as this map shows should not have been that strong in 50 years: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/hazards/products/conterminous/2002/maps/ceus/pga.ceus.2pc50.gif

The area should have received a 14% of gravity or about a low 5 range, which it wasn’t and a high 5. The name of the stress zone is called Spotsylvania, much more about Virgina seismics can be read here: http://www.virginiaplaces.org/geology/quake.html.

Do check out the New Madrid in brown, that area is above 100% force of gravity, objects are thrown in the air. Also the area in South Carolina and Quebec up in Canada. These intraplate boundaries do exist and are ancient scars that never really fused together.

            • Thanks BIS.Informative

        • You and I are fairly close, I live 40 miles NW of Nashville, if the fault goes we are SOL.

          • Clarksville??

      46. I would love for anyone who offered a timetable for “shtf” in their comment, to be bold enough to write a follow up after that time frame to explain what didn’t happen.

        • @ why. I was wrong twice and did just what you send. I learn from my mistakes and am not ashamed to admit it. Each time I write down what did not happen. I wrote about the earthquake that occurred in Java at 6.4 that was predicted as 6.1-6.4 before Thursday. I fully admitted that it was NOT where I forecasted it, I said Samoa which is the eastern side of the Australian plate, and it occurred on the central portion. The 7.6 Philippines earthquake was 400 miles off from the New Guinea location as one of the areas to watch out for a large earthquake. Just like the hurricane forecasters that they really blew on the location as they said Florida and it hit Louisana. That cone of certainty was not even close. Earthquakes are way more difficult to pinpoint.

I would also enjoy someone that makes such a comment, is to acknowledge that for the first time someone is actually forecasting earthquakes with some decent accuracy. Not perfect by any means but showing that earthquakes are predictable. What is fair is fair.

      47. Thanks Be Informed.

      48. a few years ago
I quickly dismissed stuff like this as crazy tin foil hat stuff

      49. BACSICS…. you can buy food today… beans, rice, sugar, honey and be ok for a couple of years… families should do this.

Then add a garden and chickens now. And know your local food sources… grow in pots and one raised beds on your lawns. GET and store away buckets of red wheat if you want to plant. or ?

ME? I have an organic apple orchard, raised beds on gravity drip, berries that come at different times, a neighbor who keeps bees, a different neighbor who keeps goats. And.. I suppose a secret back up plan if one is curious…

Like they say.. you don’t have to run fastest.. just faster than a slower guy. i bought a very cheap camper a bunch of years ago.. figured out how to get it to my deer stand… it is pretty hidden. Someone could kick me out of my farm and I would live fine for 4 years or so… then see what is going on..

        what is your plan?

      50. I don’t want to sound like I’m diminishing the seriousness of what’s happening in Europe but after reading this, I’ve had the following song going through my head all day.
Does anyone remember the “Merry Minuet”?

“They’re rioting in Africa, they’re starving in Spain, Florida has hurricanes and Texas needs rain,…..”

I can’t get the youtube link to copy but the song is even more true now than when it was originally written.

      51. 47 plus million people in usa are using food stamp program and with inflation of food prices rising, soon even an ebt card wont be enough to buy the food that is needed…on top of that is the food that people waste daily-shameful!

      52. Those EBT cards could buy a lot of flour, pasta, beans and meat of some type every other day. My Mom ate worse surviving off of day old bread with lard and a very thin soup.

We need to feed our people but I see what they buy in the grocery line with EBT cards.

        • And these are the one you are worrying about and defend. Your own statement prove they do not care about themselves. So why should we. Cut the cord. Thin the herd.

        • Speaking of those EBT cards and the SNAP benefits, I saw a prominently placed sign at the front door of our supermarket and it lists a new schedule of benefits. I don’t know much about how the program works or why there is what looks like a scheduling change for the monthly benefits. Anyone know what’s going on? Is it because there are too many to process at one time a month now? lol

      53. Facebook, I think I know which Gun Range you are referring too. If so said rifle club was a good time.

        • I beleive I may have been made. My cover is blown.

      54. Wait until the EBT cards no longer work here in America. You will see cities burn.

        • T don’t have to go that far. Just a reduction. I know a vet I help at the VA. He get almost 700$ a month for his family and they run out almost always by the 21st and are looking for help. They always find it. 300 from the vet center another from a church and then about 4 or 5 food banks. And then around the holiday the VFW is delivering food to his doorstep and I mean good food.

Did I mention I met him at the Diabetic clinc. He is almost in a motorchair. FAT And bitches because he has to use a needle.

      55. This is an interesting article and a fine demonstration of decent people. It is a token gesture also. 3 tons of food amounts to about four pallets of product. Really that is not even a drop in the bucket. Very small quantity.

          And did I mention Prep.

      57. Be Informed,

You said’ “Watch the coastline because the tsunamis will be horrible.

What should we look for in SC and NC coastline in the way of tsunamis?

Y’all Beware! Thanks again for all your efforts!!

        • Hey Y’all, I’m interested too. I have a place in Garden city and don’t want to be near it when something like that happens. I am still laughing about “shoulda bought a hat Bert.” Best one I’ve heard in a while.

      58. jayjay and JL: I’m in Memphis, only a 1-hour drive from the southern end of New Madrid; I’m probably screwed myself.

        • I have a 8 X 8 pantry with one wall lined with shelves, with jars, laundry det, cleaners, BOBs, lots of supplies–tomorrow will secure those.
The storage room with all my food is another matter!!
          Help??

      59. “The past is Pro-log” – What’s happening in Europe will eventually catch up with us.

Stop and think. Something is wrong. Something has always been wrong under the surface. The problem is we don’t understand it. And we may never understand it. But there are people that do.

Scientists have been warning for decades about the problems that we are facing today and tomorrow. But we don’t listen. There will come a time when you can no longer afford to ignore what is obvious.

“You can ignore reality, but you can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.”

I’m an engineer and an American. For the most part I have to admit that my countrymen are arrogant and ignorant. But one thing I do know it this, If we ever find the right way we can never be stopped.

        My Advice:

If we want to save our asses we better start listening to the smartest people on the planet (Scientist and Engineers). Politicians, lawyers and bankers aren’t even in the same class.

“Be Smart!” – FIGHT THE CAUSE – NOT THE SYMPTOM

        U.S. Citizens
        Read “Common Sense 3.1” at ( http://revolution2.osixs.org )

        Non U.S. Citizens
        Read “Common Sense 3.2” at ( http://SaveTheWorldNow.osixs.org )

We don’t have to live like this. You have choice!

        • I could never trust a liberal scientist or engineer.

        • Do you mean the same scientists who work for the aprox 4-5 billionaires who just after WWII when UN first began, held Private UN meatings to discuss what can they “invent” to use to convince the worlds masses.

Instead of another very costly messy world war?…They are who almost by accident invented “Global Warming”

They sat and talked of what can they come up with to Scare daylights out of majority of worlds people same as World War does?,,,,One guy asked “what can affect most everybody worldwide so good as a war can”?

Another guy answered him..”The…Weather!”…..1st guy asks “How so the weather?”…..Answer because regardless Who you are or Where on planet you are, Weather effects us all the same.

Thus it began, Global Warming was Invented to replace war as a method to CONTROL worlds populations!….This is 100% True Facts. Thats how global warming came about.

Their leader guy was from canada…Morice Strong, Billionaire and New agre enviro whacko makes al gore seem Tame!

They is who most Liberal scientists works for if connected to global warming Crapola Lies!…Their LIES was Proven a year ago by Leaked emails same time as world leaders all flew aprox 170-Private jets to sweden(?) for what they thought was a Final lock in of new enviro/agenda21 laws etc.

Recall it?…Emails leaked by the Thousands, while England got 5in Snow in Warm springtime?!….And all MSM idiots kept to their pre-wrote Lines of scare tactics to convince us all of global warming threats etc…

Is They the scientists you speak of?….PS I looked at your links pal…100% Thechnocratic KOMMIE Spew!!!

PSS america is a REPUBLIC! Not a Democracy(mob rule).

          Learn That!

          • @anglo-

Leaked e-mails? WHAT leaked e-mails. Those are just “conspiracy theory” right? 🙂

Obama’s speech in copenhagen was scary-

            “litigation, transparency,of finances”

            Translation-

            A”gent, n.

            1. One who exerts power, or has the power to act; an actor.

            2. One who acts for, or in the place of, another, by authority from him; one intrusted with the business of another; a substitute; a deputy; a factor.

            Trans*lu”cent

            1. Transmitting rays of light without permitting objects to be distinctly seen; partially transparent.

            Fi*nance”

            1. The income of a ruler or of a state; revennue; public money; sometimes, the income of an individual; often used in the plural for funds; available money; resources.

            2. The science of raising and expending the public revenue.

I truly was terrified when he said-

            “final legislation”

Translation- their final solution for us.

      60. @ Y’all Beware! You are about 1200 miles away from the trench zone that is within the 1500 mile radius that I feel will produce tsunamis. This means that you are about 2-3 hours away from the impacts of the tsunami when it strikes. This will give you some time to get to safety if you hear about the earthquake before the waves come in. South Carolina and North Carolina both have a lot of bays and capes, and this is quite important. The city of Cresent City in california has a coastline that channels in the water. Where a 4 foot tsunami in Oregon from previous earthquakes, in Cresent City it can and has been more than doubled.

You will be able to tell where you and others are by previous storm surges from hurricanes and tropical storms of the past if your area is more prone to the gathering and collection of additional water. Compare your area to others and this will tell you if your part of the coastline’s topography is going to funnel in more or less water than your neighbors. The shape of the coastline from West Palm Beach, Florida to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina looks like a giant bay islet and you could see how water would be forced into this. These areas on a smaller scale on lakes were usually good fishing spots because food and other nutrients were funneled in from other parts of the lake when the wind was blowing towards this shape of shoreline.

A lot depends also if the earthquake triggers an undersea landslide in various spots. This is what I believe happened when that 7.4 in El Salvador spawned a 10 meter tall, 33 foot, tsunami that killed 45000 rare sea turtle eggs. 7.4 is almost never big enough to trigger a tsunami that big, there is just not enough energy with a 7.4. However when you have an undersea mountain collapse, this will do it. Happened several years ago in the south Pacific with only a 7.0.

From what I have seen with past tsunamis and the distance of about 1200 miles I can probably give you some “ballpark numbers” with each size magnitude.

        7.8-8.0- 2-5 footer
        8.1-8.3- 4-10 footer
        8.4-8.6- 5-15 footer
        8.7-8.9- 8-20 footer
9.0-9.2- head for the hills, seriously 15-30+ footer

Remember the 8.8 in Chile that had Hawaii 7000 miles getting hit with various sizes of waves that ranged from a couple of feet to almost 10 feet. Also Japan half a world away got a 12 footer from this, because of the shape of the coastline and the direction of the wave. The tsunami centre should have the direction of the wave after this occurs, this is equally important. What previous storm surges have done should tell you if you are in anymore danger or not. Even knowing how the tides react around you should aid in this. If your area has higher tides than your neighbors you will likely have a higher tsunami wave.

Hope this helps, everyone around this very dangerous area needs to be on high alert. I pity the people on the north facing cities in the Virgin Islands when this happens.

      61. Be Informed, Enjoying your analysis. Please keep it coming. Any danger in East Texas?

        • It is crazy, I keep trying to post something and all it says is Your comment is awaiting moderation.

          • Here is a map that shows peak acceleration % of gravity likely within a 50 year period: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/hazards/products/conterminous/2002/maps/wus/pga.wus.2pc50.gif

As you can see West Texas is prone to earthquakes, but nothing like other areas. Basically whether you have mountains, you can have earthquakes. The maximum amount of % of gravity you should experience would be in the 20-30% range. A 500 year map of such might have the area up in the 50-70% range. They give 2% as this is 50 years. 1% would be 100 years. 1/5 of 1% or .2% would be 500 years. I experienced a 22% force of gravity and this is about a 5.5-6.0 or so. This feels a lot worse than it actually is. A 7.0 would be getting closer to that 100% level of gravity. I would personally worry a lot more about the drugs and gangs from Mexico in that area.

        • Yeah, that in less than ten years you will be part of Mexico. Pretty funny that you are relying on an internet poster as to earthquake probability. Not an Obama voter are you? Easily fooled and real gullible?

          • @ John W. Get this through your head right now, I cannot stand what BO obama has done to this country, OKAY. BO stands for body odor okay, he stinks, he reeks, he has done an awful job. If you read all that I have put BO down for so long fo the terrible job that he has done, it should be completely clear to you. Perhaps it is you that is easily fooled and completely gullible. maybe you have blinders on so much you only read what you want to see. I so much miss all the true rectums out in california, all the superficial phoney wastes that are more concerned about every hair being in place. I sure miss all the pollution that could choke anyone to death. I sure miss all the whacked out laws and the lawyer capital of the world. I sure miss all the gangs and the congestion. I sure miss all the true mightmare garbage out there. Be happy in your paradise, yeah paradise lost.

      62. So if this is coming our way, what do we need to do to get ready for it? What kind of foods to buy?

      63. Be Informed,

Than you so much for the detail information.

        Now I know I’m up a creek.

So, let’s have some ocean humor:
Y’all Beware! A flea had oiled up his little flea legs and his little flea arms, had spread out his blanket, and was proceeding to soak up the Miami sun when who should stumble by on the beach but an old flea friend of his.

“Oscar, what happened to you?”, asked the flea, because Oscar looked terrible, wrapped up in a blanket, his nose running, his eyes red, and his teeth chattering.
“I got a ride down here in some guy’s mustache and he came down here by motorcycle. I nearly froze my nuts off,” wheezed Oscar.

“Let me give you a tip, old pal,” said the first flea, spreading some more suntan oil on his shoulders. “You go to the stewardess lounge at the airport, see, and you get up on the toilet seat, and when an Air Florida stewardess comes in to take a leak, you hop on for a nice warm ride. Got it?”

So you can imagine the flea’s surprise when, a month or so later, while stretched out all warm and comfortable on the beach, who should he see but Oscar – looking more chilled and miserable than before.

“Listen,” said Oscar, “I did everything you said. I made it to the stewardess lounge and waited till a really cute one came in, and made a perfect landing and got so warm and cozy that I dozed right off.”

“And so?” asked the first flea.
“And so the next thing I know, I’m on this guy’s mustache again!”

        • @ Y’all Beware! Humor is always refreshing and you are quite good at it. You do have much up on the masses when a disaster happens such as an earthquake and tsunami. First you prepare, top 1%. Next you want to know what is going to happen. Next you will try to at least think about what can be doen to improve your situation when something like this occurs. Finally you come to a survival site where there are many good ideas on a wide variety of survival subjects. I think you are way up on the masses already.

        • LOL

      64. Just a note: Those dumpster bargains are only available while other folks are throwing out their “trash.” That is not going to last for long when the SHTF. Hey, those looked like pretty good cucumbers though. Just need to shave the slime off the peel there…

        • There is nothing, and I mean nothing, in my dumpster now.
So, these people would be SOL..in my part of the neighborhood.
We eat what’s cooked here. No waste.
You made a great point, Nehweh.

From your earlier post 26 min ago. You are none of the above. You need to get to work. I have the time to be here. I am prepared. Maybe I need another thermal sight but I can do that from my phone while I following you.

              … yawn.

              ~N.O.

        • extinction-level event – ooops … i need to self correct myself … apologies … An extinction event (also known as: mass extinction, extinction-level event (ELE), or biotic crisis) is a widespread and rapid decrease in the amount of life on earth. Such an event is identified by a sharp change in the diversity and abundance of macroscopic life. It occurs when the rate of extinction increases with respect to the rate of speciation. Because the majority of diversity and biomass on Earth is microbial, and thus difficult to measure, recorded extinction events affect the easily observed, biologically complex component of the biosphere rather than the total diversity and abundance of life.

          • So we are still here. And look what you are under again.

      68. To all those interested in the horrible earthquake coming to the Caribbean plate in the future, there is something that is quite interesting. I zoomed into the many hundreds of earthquakes north of the Virgin Islands to see just how many of those earthquakes were on the Caribbean plate and how many were on the North American plate. This was to see just how much the Caribbean plate was being overwhelmed by the North American plate that is massive in comparison to it. ONLY 13 earthquakes were on the North American plate, while many hundreds were south of the NA plate on the Caribbean plate.

The Caribbean plate if those two earthquakes of 7.6 and 7.4 was under stress only from the Cocos, then there would not be such a swarm like this at the border edge of the North American plate. To the west or east of this swarm comes a 8+ earthquake and a good size tsunami from it. People within 1500 miles of this break when it occurs should be ready for tsunamis. It will break, 95% sure now. There should be more signs before it is ready to go and will try to alert everyone if these signs become apparent enough. It is coming, check out that plates and the earthquakes on the map that the USGS provides, it is quite griping to see a plate like this failing right in front of your eyes.

        • You are so full of it. Fun to read though.

          • @ John W. The theory I have still has holes in it, but it is predicting earthquakes. WANT PROVE? Go back and read all the posts before the earthquakes happened for the past several months. No John you are full of it. It all started because I didn’t kiss your ass about romney, because I support freedom and a third party that would care about the country, not someone that is nothing but a white BO obama. Why don’t you get out of california and go live with your sister in North Carolina, at least you will have a chance when the San Andreas breaks. Really, are you trying to cause a fight with belittling me? You could offer a reason why you feel some way in a civil manner without trying to put me down as a a person.

      69. There is an old Spanish proverb. “Civilization and anarchy are separated by only seven meals.” (Lo que separa la civilización de la anarquía son solo siete comidas.) Which means that about lunch time on the third day, all hell breaks loose.
