Amid what some are calling the most severe medical emergency in modern times, CDC director Thomas Frieden says it’s time we start thinking about Ebola.
Frieden recently claimed that the U.S. infrastructure is so advanced that Ebola has no chance of spreading, but is now concerned with the procedures and protocols that are in place.
The Dallas nurse is “clinically stable,” Frieden said, and the CDC is monitoring others involved in Duncan’s care in case they show symptoms of the virus.
“We have to rethink the way we address Ebola infection control. Even a single infection is unacceptable,” Frieden told reporters. “The care of Ebola is hard. We’re working to make it safer and easier.”
Frieden also apologized for remarks on Sunday, when the nurse’s infection was first disclosed, that suggested she was responsible for a breach in protocols that exposed her to the virus. Some healthcare experts said the comments failed to address deep gaps in training hospital staff to deal with Ebola. (Reuters)

What, exactly, have these people been doing since Ebola was first discovered nearly 40 years ago?

Wasn’t Mr. Thomas Duncan living in a small apartment with a woman and children? Was he not transported in a small ambulance with at least two EMS personnel in the back? Why just the nurse.
I find it odd, that it is an infection here an infection there (and only ones and twoses) and often the ones infected are not who you would think would be infected.

When I was moved back to the US as a teen, I was given a battery of tests which indicated genius level IQ in a couple of fields. Then I became a chronic under-achiever and after many years of partying too hard now have a more “normal” IQ which lets me relate to people a lot better. (LOL)
Allow me to observe that you are bang on with your analysis. Common sense dictates they are NOT doing what should (nay, must) be done to stop this evil from spreading. The two scenarios you posit follow occam’s razor very well. If they moved faster or slower, it would be so obvious that even the currently “average intellect” (which is less than the average during my school years) would be alerted to something being very wrong about their (mis)management of this disease.
I have observed this incrementalism in many ways since shortly into high school when I told people that the US would become a lot more like the USSR than the other way around, one tiny step at a time. (They ridiculed me, of course.) Now, it seems I was wrong on that score, Russia appears very much to have become what the US was back then.

Genius, I’ve been awake since the early 70s. the 2 books that woke me up were “Tragedy And Hope” by Carroll Quigley and “None Dare Call It Conspiracy” by Gary Allen. Allen’s book gave the basic outline of the globalists’ plan but Quigley’s book went into much more detail. I know what you mean about everyone being brainwashed. Nutritional content of your stash, specifically – supplements. Your body can only absorb so much so that is exactly why it is important to take them on a daily basis. Yes you pee most of it out, but some stays in. It takes a good while for your body to get back to where it needs to be. In an emergency situation, your body is going to be stressed.
So, if you are not already taking a daily multivitamin, please consider it. The ones of value are not cheap but they have essential trace minerals, are plant based, have a true whole food value and are made in the US. The expiration dates are usually good for a couple of years but they are not going to go bad. You can purchase a years worth in advance for everyone and take then begin to take them daily. As one bottle empties, buy another and put it in the back. Your stock will be there when you need it, your group will be healthier and better able to keep their wits about them when you bug out (or in). That is when it will count.
Pure Essence Labs (located in Nevada) makes some great vitamins. They have one called “One’n’ Only. It is very good IMO.

YES….especially DIESEL. The damn ehtanol nased gasoline that we have all ‘grown to know and LUV’ is a nightmare to stabilize long term. A PE (Petroleum Engineer) of my acquaintance decribed that as ‘not stabilzeable beyond two years, REGARDLESS of of which stabilizer was used…” due to the tendency of the ethanol to degrade via it’s AWFUL tendencies to moisture absorption.
Diesel OTOH, CAN be long-term stabilized by adding various such additives; especially anti-fungal’s…those will SCREW up an injector SO QUICK it’s sickening…if you have to rebuild one, that is.
Things just AREN’T lookin to good lately, I’ll admit…and YES, we HAVE been stocking fuel for some time now…GOOD call.
Mr R – we have a choice here between regular and premium unleaded as well as ethanol blends – either E10 or E85.
I wouldn’t put ethanol blended fuel in a lawnmower! In my boat tanks I regularly use up non ethanol fuel that is over a year old, some was over 2 years old, with no problems at all (15 and 35hp 2 stroke engines).
The real problem with ethanol blends is “phase separation” from which it cannot be re blended. This can happen in as little as 3 months but generally it is OK for a bit longer. It is also hygroscorbic, which means given the chance it will absorb water and eventually sink to the bottom of the tank eventually accumulating enough down there that it will cover the intake and give your carburettors or injectors a drink of water – which neither like and you aint going nowhere then!
I cant comment about the effectiveness of stabilized ethanol blends but it’s a moot point coz I never will!

Yep, SAME here. I had the WORST time going ’round and ’round – lately – with some small engines that power my gens…weed eater’s and such. Finally, my mechanic asked, “Are you USING Super premium (non-ethanol) Or regular?”
I admitted that I had been forking whatever was handy into the tanks and he responded by wincing (visibly) and then saying, “DON’T ever use ‘regualar’ in a two cycle, or other small engine…the fuel aystemds are NOT like what the cars have now, today…they CAN’T handle that natively…”, well, I stopped uing anything BUT…and my problems disappeared immediately! He alao aid – directly – that he had seen more problems in the lasrt few years than he had EVER seen in the past due to that alone.
Just GOES To show ya. I suppose…”live and learn…die and forget it ALL!….” Sheesh.
Thanks for the heads up Mr Rodgers! I was not aware of the storage problems with the ethanol blends, or its effect on small engines. Will now begin stockpiling premium fuel instead, the extra expense be damned. The last thing a person needs in a real SHTF situation is a gummed up or water filled carburetor! I agree that diesel is especially important. I don’t have any diesel vehicles, but do have a diesel genset, which will be critical to have operational for charging batteries and running lights/fans in the greenhouse in winter. Some people are planning to go back to the 1820s, but I’m moving forward to the 2020s.
Not sure in other countries but a few stations sell high test non ethanol for the hot rod rides in our area and marinas sell non ethanol gas.Cant wait till they add some ethonol type substance to ammo powders!

It’s also why it is wise to start looking at alternative fuels that can be run in an internal combustion engine. Perhaps the easiest to obtain is wood. Yes, you really can run a vehicle on wood through a process called pyrolization. It was popular in Europe during the depression and WWII, and was even offered as a factory option by companies like Ford, GM/Opel, Toyota, Volvo and VW (Well… KDF-wagen). (Google search terms: Wood gas, Pyrolization and holtz gas)
The other possibility that comes to mind is methane. If you have a subsistence farm, you can build a methane digester to harvest the gas from human and animal waste. It’s basically made by putting the waste in a tank, capping it and hooking a hose to the top that runs to an air compressor. The compressed gas is then stored in a pressure vessel until needed. Pigs and chickens have some of the best waste in terms of methane output, so consider using them as a food and fuel source. The conversion parts should be the same as natural gas, so companies like Impco should be able to sell you the parts. Alternatively, some cities run their fleets on natural gas, so you may be able to pick up an old truck or car from a surplus auction that is already set up to run it.

Anon … Not only do(did) they know how dangerous Ebola is, but if you recall from the book (which I finished this past weekend) Ebola Reston was passed between rooms of the monkey house in Reston, Virginia. There were three potential transmission methods between the rooms; the air, contamination of workers (the people that were caring for the monkeys) and contamination of the workers tools (mops) that were used to clean the monkey rooms. They never really figured out which it was.
The virus does extensive damage to the epithelial cells of the lungs and the digestive system in monkeys and in humans. It literally explodes them. Based on that evidence, I think that any rational person would conclude that, if cells in the lungs are exploding, the virus can be airborne, especially when a cough or a sneeze occurs in the infected patient.

This is straight from the CDC’s website. This is how they treat Ebola in there labs. When it gets out in the public they don’t seem to care do they.
1 – Oh it is not a big deal they say.
2 – It will not be a problem in the US.
3 – We don’t need to restrict air travel.
4 – Our health care system is prepared for this.
5 – You cannot catch it unless you come in contact with bodily fluids.
6 – In the public they are treating it like any other blood borne pathogen. ( A known Lie ).
7 – Screening at air ports with a questionnaire and temperature guns. ( Symptoms may not show up for 21 days ).
I will stop there but how stupid do they think we are. They are lying through there teeth for some reason. This is why I am nervous and have a bad feeling about this. Something major is up.

Mom….where I work, the isolation gear are made by a company listed on the NYSE….the quality is very poor…at this point in time, we wear it for isolation for patients with flu or MRSA etc…you can put a finger through the gown while you are putting it on, the same with the gloves… the masks don’t fit properly….I only hope the products the hospital in Dallas provided were of a better quality…and level.
About a month ago I saw a photo of some health workers in Liberia…sitting at a table….maybe…3 or 4…all sitting about 3 feet from each other…one had the cheap stuff we use but appeared covered head to toe, including a mask…some one else had a mask and another just gloves and bare arms….

Yes I agree. The problem is you are taking a huge risk if you protest at the airport or go to the border. I just don’t see the government doing this. There is probably some rule they have because of 9-11 that says you can only protest a mile from an airport anyway.

In fact, for those of you interested, there are Health share plans out there, such as Liberty Health Share, Samaritan Healthshare, and Christian Healthshare. I started with Liberty and unfortunately had to use them one week after starting. They have been EXCELLENT. $300/month for man and wife in their 50s; deductible is slightly high, but definitely do-able.

Honestly Ebola doesn’t have to get that bad with lots of infected Americans to tank the economy. The fear of it, a small number of infected in every state, that alone would be enough to ruin the stock market.
America is literally on the edge of a precipice. It won’t take much to tip it over. It’s almost so bad that it’s going to take a crisis to take the country back.
We’re so far from the intention of our ancestors that this is a wake up call that America isn’t immune from disaster. It can either be the worst grotesque actions of sociopaths in terror, or it can be America’s shining moment to pull together.
I feel positive that preppers can do the latter as long as we pray, stay calm, and prepare. Most won’t prepare, and we can’t save them, but we might be able to act locally and save some.

I just went to my doctors office. Had to have blood drawn. I have knee surgery Wednesday. I tore my ACL, and partially tore my MCL, PCL, and meniscus. I did it during martial arts.
This is a heck of a time for this to happen. Just my luck.
One other thing. On the entrance door was a note. IF you are running a fever and have traveled outside the country please let the staff know!!!!! I live out in the middle of nowhere. It shocked me.
Mike – had a complete rupture of the ACL and got a full recon 4 years ago. Struggled along with it for nearly 4 years but if I had known how great it would be I wouldn’t have waited. Mine was repaired with part of my hamstring, not the patella. Couldn’t be happier.

You too Mike. What was impressed on me from the start was the importance of the rehabilitation program. You have to follow it like a blind dog follows the smell of a sausage.
I’ll tell you now – it’ll hurt, sometimes a lot. And it will be uncomfortable during physiotherapy but the benefits come later. It can be 9 months before full strength and even longer before you get over the “mental” block such things can give you.
At 7 months after mine a friend from Portland Or was out here and I took him hunting wild goats. We walked over 6 miles in some of the roughest country we have that is so steep one leg 2 foot longer than the other would be handy, rocks, logs, bush – you name it. Stinking hot too. Was miles away when we finally got a goat that I dressed out. Before we got back to the hut I was carrying BOTH rifles and the goat and was starting to think I may have to carry my friend as we didn’t expect to be out long and didn’t have any water. At the end of the day the only part of me that was knackered was my “bad” knee.
Not bad for a bloke about to turn 60!

Do a search on your computer for local Martial Arts instruction on Krav Maga. Then ask the instructor where he learned it and how he got his qualification. I am blessed. Where I take it they have also started Combat Japanese Jujitsu which is a perfect match for Krav. That is my opinion because Krav teaches you techniques to get off the ground as soon as possible. If you were a soldier the last place you want to be in hand to hand is on the ground. Japanese Jujitsu teaches how to disable people while on the ground.
Two new instructors have also been added. One is the baddest men I have ever known. He has been in martial arts for 40 years and has around 10 black belts in different martial arts. He has been to other country’s and studied many times. He also is a master in all weapons including guns. He even teaches a tactical shooting course. He is also a licensed chiropractor and is into eastern healing and acupuncture. A real combination of Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, and Mr. Meagi lol.
Krav is the best for preppers in my opinion. It will get you into shape. It is east to learn. Very practical. Goes into knife and gun defense too. Just my opinion. The reason it is not in mma or fighting on tv is because a lot of the moves are illegal. All strikes are directed at vital areas. Throat, knee, Eye, Nose, Spine, ect.

Acid not even close. I did not say it did not have ground game. In fact find someone who knows Krav and try them on the ground. There are ways to get up while incapacitating your opponent. Krav is combat fighting period. That is why it is perfect for preppers. If the shit never hits the fan then Jujitsu is the perfect match for fighting. If the shit does hit the fan then you will want to kill the person you are fighting with which makes Krav perfect.

As for price you are not even close either. It is much less in my area.
I broke my femur, meniscus and tore MCL and ACL in a canoeing accident. It took a year for the femur to heal enough to have knee surgery. The pictures of the knee looked like a tinder bundle. Doctor said I would never squat, take stairs or kneel again. I told him “that’s not acceptable.” Six months of PT later, I was taking stairs, backpacking, canoeing and kneeling before God. Ice and naproxen sodium are still my good friends.
With your martial arts background, it will just be another skill to learn and a mental challenge to overcome.

Thanks a lot for that. The knee doctor told me 6 months of not much activity. Then he said he would prefer I not do martial arts anymore. I told him that I would not quit martial arts. It has done wonders for me. Both in my health and my mental well being. It is such a stress release.

So what do you all think of rain suits (no buttons), rain boots, goggles, M95 masks, heavy duty gloves and duct tape. I could outfit my whole family for less than $300. That beats $150 a suit for a family of 6. What’s the draw back of this plan? Thanks.
Not a good plan, unless you can show us a real medical test that says duct tape and rain gear prevents transmission, which ain’t out there.
What’s the drawback to your plan? Spending $300 and developing false confidence that the gear actually works, leading to the death of one or more, or all, of your family.
If you’re that worried about it, don’t cheap out.
Make sure you have the food and such to stay indoors for a month or more.

For better preparedness, here are some things to know about what to have on hand for a virus:
1. baking soda. dissolv it in water and drink to raise your body’s pH. A higher pH prevents viruses from being able to enter your cells. (This was used successfully during the Spanish flu too) do your research. then buy a box for every person in your neighborhood.
2. vitamin c. The cytokine storm of symptoms kills people. Vitamin C in large doses helps with this. Do your research!
3. start getting healthy now. stop eating junk food and cut back on the meat and dairy which acidifies your body. remember that viruses are coated in a protein lining and your body won’t be able to break down that coating if your protein digesting enzymes are busy digesting your lunch. same is true for cancer!
4. you can also stock up on protein digesting enzymes. taken on an empty stomach they can enter your bloodstream.
5. there are easy recipes online for making magnesium bicarbonate (6 TBsp milk of magnesia in 2 liters of plain carbonated water) which also alkalizes the blood. I drink this everyday. This will be my main defense. The baking soda in water is not something you would want to start drinking every day because of the sodium.
6. selenium is something a virus is looking for in your cells. if it can’t find enough in one cell it will move more quickly to other cells. meat is a good source of selenium (though I already advised against it), but so is wheat bread and seeds.
7. think about how effective you are at combating colds and viruses. get healthy enough so that you can beat them. Get alkaline! your best defense is your immune system and what you put in your mouth.
8. avoid worry and fear because stress acidifies the body and gets you sick faster.
9. there are a few anti viral essential oils that I take: clove oil and oil of oregano. these are helpful, but not my first line of defense.
after having these items on hand, the biggest worry will be when everyone else starts panicking.

Perhaps supplements…if you research how to go about taking them…I hear too much selenium from supplements can be damaging (promotes hair loss). Consider what your diet is already providing.
One thing I do in addition to daily magnesium carbonate is a daily drink of Himalayan salt sole in water as it provides a wide range of trace minerals in good proportion and real sodium (unlike table salt). I think it also really helps with pH.

Plan ahead if you need to evade being trapped on one side of an Ebola quarantine with your kids on the other side, while you are at work. Try to keep one parent on the same side of the likely Quarantine as the kids.
The Ebola quarantines will usually start with sealing off the Interstate Beltways around a city, then house to house.
First, they will impose in place quarantine in your home, then forced house to house Fema Ebola Camp removal of the well and sick.
And you will really, really, want to avoid a Fema camp.
Keep a disassembled kayak in your trunk or preposition it to escape across a river. Preposition bicycles and cars outside the Quarantine zones.
