Video: The New Common Core Obama Math Standard: “3 x 4 = 11”

by | Aug 18, 2013 | Headline News | 252 comments

Earlier this year President Obama detailed his new educational initiatives aimed at “closing America’s school readiness gap.” As with all things Obama, it seems that “readiness” is yet another doublespeak term that suggests exactly the opposite of the traditional definition.

At a recent school meeting in Grayslake, Illinois curriculum director Amanda August discusses the new federally mandated Common Core education standards, which are currently being implemented into school districts across the nation.

Here’s how we’re readying America’s children for a highly competitive globalized marketplace:

But even under the new Common Core… even if they said 3 X 4 was 11, if they were able to explain their reasoning and explain how they came up with their answer, really in words and in oral explanations, and they showed it in a picture but they just got the final number wrong, we’re really more focusing on the how and why.

It’s no matter if a student comes to the conclusion that 3 x 4 = 11. So long as they can explain how they made this erroneous determination they go home with an ‘A’.

Is it any wonder that, as Michael Snyder notes, our high school students are as dumb as rock, failing to answer the most basic of questions? A study conducted by none other than Common Core shows just how far we’ve fallen at America’s pedagogic institutions:

  • Only 60% of students knew that WWI was fought between 1900 and 1950 — they only had to guess the half century!
  • One in four high schoolers think Columbus discovered the New World after 1750
  • On the multiple choice test, less than half of high schoolers knew when the Civil War was fought. They didn’t even need to know exact dates, just that it was sometime between 1850 and 1900.
  • 40% of students could not identify the name of the ocean on the eastern side of the United States.
  • Nearly 60% of students could not identify the two major political parties.
  • When asked who is in charge of the Executive Branch of the United States, 70% of high school students got the wrong answer.
  • Fully 75% of high school students failed to identify the First President of the United States

If you think we’re just picking and choosing, watch the following video from Lunch Scholars, which asks typical American high school students to answer a series of common questions covering topics such as American history, geography, and politics.

  • In which war did our country win its independence?
  • Who is the Vice President?
  • Which countries border the U.S.?
  • How many stars on the flag of the United States?
  • Can you name a country starting with the letter “U” ?

Via The Daily Sheeple:

Though “experts” argue that the new Common Core standards will improve our education system and prepare America’s children for a brave new world, it should be obvious that this is nothing more than another Federal power grab, complete with tax-payer funded bribes, that’s designed to add another layer of control for the State:

Dr. Ron Paul via Activist Post:

Sadly, but not surprisingly, instead of improving education by repealing No Child Left Behind’s testing and other mandates, the Obama administration is increasing national control over schools via the “Common Core” initiative. Common Core is a new curriculum developed by a panel of so-called education experts. The administration is trying to turn Common Core into a national curriculum by offering states increased federal education funding if they impose Common Core’s curriculum on their public schools.

This is yet another example of the government using money stolen from the people to bribe states into obeying federal dictates.

Critics of Common Core say it “dumbs down” education by replacing traditional English literature with “informational texts”. So students will read such inspiring materials as studies by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, the EPA’s “Recommended Levels of Insulation,” and “Invasive Plant Inventory” by California’s Invasive Plant Council. It is doubtful that reading federal reports will teach students the habits of critical thinking and skepticism of government that the Founders considered essential to maintaining a free republic.

American exceptionalism is being dumbed-down from cradle to grave on every level.

It should be obvious that the long-term plan is not to improve the lives of Americans, but rather, to create a slave-based society through (mis)education, consumerism, and government dependence.

Inflation is Running at 40-Year Highs!

Negative interest rates are taxing savers, creating food shortages, and making life miserable in the United States!

There's little time left before the REAL DISASTER occurs!

A more real number is 30,000,000 + 12,000,000 = 51. As in 30 million food stamp recipients + 12 million more between 2008 and 2012 = 51% of the votes in the 2012 election and another term for BO.

The real problem is that if you eliminated all federal spending, including the military, and only kept entitlements, the government would still spend more than it takes in. BI’s simple math is right on.

The primary question is, how can ideals and simple understandabel math compete with free stuff? The answer is that nothing can compete with free stuff. How can someone be elected without giving out free stuff? They can’t.

The big question is how much longer can we keep doing this until it’s game over?

This program will help cement America into the next to last stage of civilization Dependancy.
1 in 7 Americans are already dependent on handouts, this will just push more into the bread lines. I don’t know if it’s common knowledge but England did the first reading ( in private ) June 24th that would bring back the draft for them. This has only happened two other times for them ( 1916 during WW1 and 1937 just before WW2 ). Obviously they are gearing up for WW3 and we won’t be far behind. Conscription of course is a measure of the final stage of civilization Bondage.

This will simply keep more Americans satisfied with what they are told.

If interested the second reading of their draft law is scheduled for September.

WW3 will be in full swing soon. Hope you have been getting ready.

I had a friend who was a teacher that taught at
a black student school in the Chicago public
            school system.

He said that he couldn’t teach them anything
because they didn’t want to learn anything
except being street smart and half of them
dropped out by the time they were sixteen.
They could make more money muleing drugs at
twelve years old than an adult sanitation
            worker employed by the city.

I asked him why he stayed at such a frustrating
            dead end job.
He said it was state subsidized and someone
was going to do it. The work was obviously
easy because no positive results were expected
and the pay was very good with job security.

Mathematics is a precise discipline. When there are no “absolute values” the NWO Globalists will control you absolutely.

I can remember a time in sixth grade when my teacher marked my computation wrong because I forgot to include the decimal point. I never made that mistake again.

The real problem is federal spending? The real problem is we have allowed our elected representatives to stray from the strict confines of the Constitution. The president thinks he is a king, the Congress is ignorant of their oath and the Supreme Court has become a laughing stock. The framework is there to fix the problem but the will of the people is lacking.

            • Yeeeech

The real problem is the 3,000,000 republicans, conservatives and libertarian/others who didn’t bother to vote in the last election.

              • itisallbs

What was there to vote for? If you are going to tell me (or anyone else) that there was a difference between Obama and Romney (other than skin color); then I would tell you that you are not an educated person. If Romney was elected we would be talking about the same issues. As long as we accept that the malcontents in DC can tell us what our children must learn, then the problems will persist, no matter who or what party is in office.

                • Chris in Texas

More accurately, if Romney was elected, the liberals and libertarians and would be saying these things. A lot of people(some of my friends&family included) were conspicuously silent on the same goings on under the last administration. Remember all the billboard ads telling us to pray for the president? I don’t recall seeing one for about 5 years…

The majority of people in this so called United States of America, do not give a shit about their children, they would rather let the State educate them and decide whether they are worth anything or not.

Lazy, incompetent parenting, absentee Fathers, Obama as their new Daddy. Public schools are not only a disgrace to society but they are also dangerous.

You ignorant people who condemn home schooling are sending your kids to an institution that has less freedom and protection than a state prison. Where is it written that you must have 30 or more kids to one teacher, where is it written that your children must socialize with only God know who while they are out of your supervision?

This prison type system that we call public school is nothing but a rat trap that was man made for convenience. If your children do attend public school then you better say a prayer as they walk out the door because while they are in that school, they aren’t your kids, the state owns them.

        • Piper Michael

As I have said before in my piece “The Kabuki dance in the theater of the damned” and again in a previous thread, WE CAN fix things… but we are divided and independent minded. Our very intelligence and independence is our Achilles heel. We argue about everything, we can’t even agree the sun will come up tomorrow… we ARE the iron and clay that cannot mix. WE are led around by the nose, by a MINORITY that speaks “sweet words on the tongue, that grow bitter in the belly”. Now, they raise stupid to a whole new level? Its time, to take it back, or lose it all for the next generation…

          et al; (Especially you DK.)
Now, as I said a long time ago, others have now come forward with the same idea. A ‘States convention’, called by the states, to amend the constitution. Those who wish to argue, don’t understand, this is ‘The Other way’ of amending the Constitution that has NEVER been tried… It is NOT a willy nilly carte blanche for nulling or voiding the Constitution, but, a way for the states to reign in the Federal government… it was placed in the Constitution for just this situation… Federal Over Reach…

Now Mark Levin wrote a book; The Liberty amendments”, which looks good, and he was on Hannity the other night, and now Huckabee’s show had another guy pushing for this… It is THE ONLY moral, legal and non violent way left, it will put a burr in Fedgov’s saddle. If nothing else, the circus that grows around it, would be worth the show, and the REAL issues would come to the front of the stage. Elimination of Federal Power, we could repeal amendments… and add others. The bloodbath would be worth watching, or even participating in.

But, there are too many who don’t understand the very constitution they purport to ‘protect and defend’. No, they would rather sit around and whine, and clean their guns and think they will actually win something other than a long protracted civil rebellion, that will have disastrous consequences. I know those who have never been to war, and have never seen the elephant, they are the only ones who ever want such a thing because they have never seen it up close and personal. Trust me, when you see the elephant, it sees you and sits on you, crushing the life out of you, your soul, your family, your home, your economy, your society, forget it, its gone. The ‘bullet box’ers, need to pay attention, the Militia of One, is not a way to win, but an excuse for the Nazi’s to take off the velvet glove.

The Ball is now rolling, some of the Tea parties are on board. My thinking is that if 30 to 40 percent of the good guys actually got off their butts and decided to DO something, we might have a chance of rolling back Leviathan…

Article 5 allows for the State Legislatures, to call a States Convention (NOT a CONCON…) for the purpose of forcing amendments down Congresses THROAT… If YOU get involved, and maybe even run as a DELEGATE, we could get some new blood and actually DESTROY THE ESTABLISHMENT. The numbers don’t lie, and YOU were the reason Bamaboy got reelected, because over 3 million of you didn’t show up at the polls. I know, I know, its corrupt, and it is. But, they cannot beat overwhelming numbers as long as you stay involved, and they, are still pretending to follow the constitution.

The best case is a non violent usurpation of Federal power, the next best case, is for the dark boy and his sycophants to try to outlaw it, or delay it, or attack it. That would then give the ‘bullet box’ ers, their Just Cause, or Causus Belli, WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE DGI’s…, either way, we are still holding the moral high ground. The lesson of the War of Northern Aggression was simple, if you shoot first, you’re the bad guys, if the Feds shoot first, we’re the good guys. This, StateCon, could be, the straw that breaks the camels back, and forces the issues that are destroying us. Fortunately, we, have one advantage, we outnumber them, pure and simple. If the state legislatures were smart, they would get the Militias of the Several states as Guardians of the convention, then let the Federalists do their dirty work.

Get involved, petition your state legislatures, or quit saying you ‘support the Constitution’… read ‘The Liberty Amendments’, it is a good start on an old problem.

PS: To those who’s preachers preach “submission to Godly authority” yet don’t get involved in politics because of IRS rules, they are defending their 30 pieces of tax free silver. They are promoting apathy and complacency, telling you that Jesus is coming? Maybe so, but the rest of that book says YOU are the hands of Justice on Earth… the Book also condemns those who sit and watch immorality. Fire them. In The original Revolution, who were the British scared of more than anything else? The Black Robe Regiment. Fire up your preachers, or fire them. God will not appreciate you paying for abortions and birth control of the Hedonists. This is what comes, OBamacare is institutionalized murder of old and young, that is the way of socialists and nazi’s. And who, do you think will be to blame? Look in the mirror.

@ Piper Michael. It is far easier for the lazy masses to have someone else do their thinking for them. Imagine that they actually think that these leaders are doing what is best for them. It is incredible how little the population learns. This is one reason that I feel that WW3 is inevitable, it has to happen. People have not gained wisdom, they have become even more so governed by the elite. The elite are not even smart enough to work together towards a better world. It reminds me of a bunch of hungry rats trying to battle over the last grains in the silo. I had terrible nightmares last night about seeing all these mushroom clouds in the distance, maybe 100 miles away in the dream. It is going to happen unless Mother Nature beats mankind to the punch.

Agreed, one or the other, however, the Apocalypse mentality is part of what is freezing us in place…
But we can never know how far off it is, would it not be better to get those who understand the issues, the problem, and see the enemy, to unite in One Just Cause? If for no other reason, we can get together and get to know new people who are of like mind? This would attract all kinds of people who are worried about us, and those who are determined to destroy us. That’s why, if the ball gets rolling, it is necessary to outnumber them. It has never been more true, that; Government goes, to those who show up…

We can TRY, and as an American, we used to be all about the single phrase; CAN DO.
              Not, give up.

At the very least, we can form new networks. Because at the end of the day, that is what its all about; Preserving who we are. Our knowledge, culture, and accumulated infrastructure will all disappear if either of those two events happen. The only way to preserve is not to become an island unto ourselves, that way leads to reverting back to cave men by necessity of survival.

Then think about sitting around the camp fire, with the tribe, telling fantastic fairy tales of how things used to be. Stories your great grand kids will think are just myths, except for the Cargo cults worshiping the rusted out hulk of an old car.

Piper Micheal: Who do you think would organize and control the setting of the Agenda for a “Constitutional Convention”?

It could only be authorized by the GOP and the Dems who control every state delegation, and would use the opportunity to erode OUR liberties even further and impose even stricter Rules to control US. Check the process.

Dumb idea. A really dumb idea. 🙂

Piper: Not sure if you are aware of it, but a very good article on a Con-Con like You wrote of was about a year ago by Devvy Kidd and a couple Other writers at newswithviews site..They showed tons of Proof reasons that regardless What we get told of delegates cannot rip entire us const to shreds and can only ammend as we dictate etc is all BS and Lies.

There has only ever been one single time america ever had a const convention…That was when the orig Founders did the one we now have the orig us const. That set the Precedent for ALL times no matter if amending is called by congress OR the Majority of States as you spoke of.

Either way once the delegates go into closed session…Whatever they do is it, like it or not. And with most EVERY fed And State congress person a swindler and crook…Well its very likly they WILL screw us royally and then get enough states to ratify and confirm it.

ALSO: are You aware Piper, that aprox 20 yrs ago Georgetown University was handed at first $5-Million grant cash by the Rockefellers foundations and others, then it got Increased to $25 Million total, for Georgetown Univ professors et al to write a Brand New us const..Yep..Its fact and truth as I READ the Exact copy newswithviews writers obtained from georgetown univ.

I READ every single word Piper. The Bill of Rights part I mean. An uneducated person or one whos not us const and BOR Savy, may say it looks almost same as the current BOR we have now….WRONG! Every right in it is akin to the UN universal rights stuff…Free speech? Sure as long as Their comittee(to be apointed of course by congress or the prez) approves of what that free speech is about!

2nd ammendt? Sure as long as You obtain fed govnt approved training-Shrink-DR. Okays it!-and all guns get Registered with feds and UN. Every single “right” was wrote that way….As long as THEY determine your rights are in now way Offensive to Minorities like african blacks-muslims-jews-fags-etc.

Please do more research andsee for yourself Piper, this new con con call’s is very likly to be conected to same neocons and lib dems as that Georgetown univ const documents are.(its still waiting a proper time to introduce and pass it).

Besides perhaps You trust Mark Levin?…Well “IF” he were to Publically totally Reject-refute-Denounce all he has always so far fully supported on Zionists etc?…”Maybe” I can also trust him and Hannity….But anybody who thinks that will occure? Levin denounce and reject zionisim?….Wanna buy a few Bridges in the Sahara?

Everything is BS and lies with ya’ll…. there are those who are at least trying to fix it without violence. But, they might be a JEW huh? Read the Constitution friend.
Yes, I KNOW who will control it, but, that assumes that your asses stay firmly seated on those chairs and keyboards… they cannot control the delegate process if we don’t let them.

But, you are both correct in one regard, this would either be a grass roots effort, that succeeds in firing up everybody, or, a slide into hell. But, like I said, it would give everybody one last chance to grab ole Fedgov by the gonads, or, a Just Cause.

You guys don’t get it. You never will, because you guys don’t read, you cherry pick words apart for your own arguments.

Dk, you’re a legend in your own mind and Them guys sees Jews behind every bush, and is the one deceived… the 10 horns have deceived you both, friends.

The point being, we are already FOOKED, what do we have to LOSE? Don’t you bullet boxers WANT a just cause?, or would you rather start a guerrilla campaign that lasts for years, and the Feds come over and spray you with agent orange? I remember what Vietnam looked like after they dumped that shit on the jungle. Do you think this evil crowd would allow you to sit in your homesteads and grow your own food?
That, is the BS story. They will be coming for you eventually, one way or another. Remember this day, you HAD a chance to grab Obama by the balls, and you blew it.

Never speak again, DK, about the Constitution. Because you are an enemy of it. I have read it, and the rules are quite clear. Have you?

          • itisallbs

Expecting a constitutional amendment to tame this beast that is the US federal government is naive at best. The people in DC DO NOT CARE about the constitution or any of the amendments in it, except the 16th. Every person that takes office is sworn to protect it, yet as soon as they get in office they proceed to use the constitution as toilet paper.

While I do not advocate violence against anyone, I somehow find myself thinking that is exactly what will happen. Especially since the laws that apply to us common folk, don’t seem to apply to anyone that is employed by the government, notably the charged with the task of enforcing those laws.

Additionally, and most important: if you think that your rights as a human being are ordained because of a piece of paper written 225 years ago…YOU ALREADY LOST! We do not need the constitution to explain to us what our rights are. Are rights are simple, so simple infact it is stupifying that we feel the need reference the constitution to state what they are. If we really think that the constitution protects our rights, then why do the 14th and 16th amendments exist?

Aside from the fact that 30,000,000 plus 12,000,000 is 42,000,000 and even assuming that every single one of them were registered and voted for Obama (even though we know that isn’t true)the total number of votes cast in the 2012 election was 126,831,812. I’m sorry, but 42,000,000 does not equal 51% of 126,831,812… it more in the ballpark of 33%. So again even if we go along with the foolish notion that 42,000,000 foodstamp recipients were all not only adult but also registered voters and furthermore we assume they did in fact ALL vote for Obama (all 42M…… not likely) he still managed to pull enough respectable non-leaches to get another roughly 20% of the popular vote.

So again, please, eat shit. And P.S. if you voted for Romney you have no room to complain, they’re all pretty much the same animal at this point. He’d have the same policies in place were he in office and you’d be cheering him on just like the dems do for Obama.

Granny, I read your reply to me from a few articles back and just wanted to Thank you. Due to the type info I post often, it is not very often I get any complinemt at all. I must say the compliment you gave me is the best yet I have ever gotten here! And I truly appreciate it.

It was unexpected when compared to the usual of red thumbs down I so often recieve. Thats ok though as you stated: “I have always wondered if you and I have been blessed or cursed knowing the truth about history. I happened on this blog a couple days ago and found myself in a tizzy over the Glen Beck post (read my post on the Glen Beck story) and I have thoroughly enjoyed your truthful insight into history. I am sure you have read the book Under the Sign of the Scorpion by Juri Lina but for anyone searching for the truth it certainly is a good place to start.

It is so refreshing to see that you are so educated on history; I have been studying the zionist problem since the 1960′s. Hardly anyone knew anything back then and frankly, like a lot of today’s sheeple, they couldn’t give a s@#% less. The time for them to give a s@#% is growing mighty short. I believe in Revelations and believe we are the generation that is living that. has clarified a lot of questions that I had concerning history and also concerning what is happening day to day right now.

There are many great sites on the computer for anyone to learn the truth. I truly believe that the good Lord is the only one that can straighten out what we have allowed to happen to us”.

Granny: No I never yet read the book by Juri Lina, but Yes I am aware that it is considered one of if not The Best books ever wrote that fully details and describes the Evil Horrors perpetrated by the russian jewish bolsheviks and Red Army, I have read others responces to that book though.

A Sweden guy called “Hoff” has that book as well as over 100 other full books one can read FREE online at his website. All his books deal with WWI-Russian revolution era-and WWII era. Those are the books which debunk all the massive many Lies we were taught, and especially outline the major stuff we were Denied to know. Many are Rare hard to find or buy books too.

Anyways Welcome to the site here, am very glad to see another wised up fully awakened Patriot as you seem to be. Be Patient…Folks are beginning to Get it and wake up. It is just too difficult for many to accept that americans could have so Lied to and about so many very Important issues or subjects…I as well at first rejected all such “Truth/Facts” info regardless where or who it came from.

Yet after years of seeing or reading one article after another and seeing so many facts documented and Undeniably factualy true, at some point a person just Must finally Re-Think most everything we were ever taught to believe. As for is it a Curse knowing truth?…Kinda yeah. However as Christ kept saying over and over…”Know the Truth”….He just never told us after we know the real truth it Will upset and so anger us.

Never stop writeing and speaking truth, even if but one single person more awakens…We did a fine good job eh!

Those Refuseniks and Enablers of the evil bastard kommies etc….Screw em. Leave them be and its their worry once its too late to awaken. Because theres only Two types of persons…Them whats righteous and them what aint. Learning truth is the first step to being Righteous.

Thanks again Granny keep posting here! Them Guys

eppe if you think that is Sad & Scary, are you familiar with ANTHRAX. Well here in the Rocky Mountains it’s now Monday morning and time for a new (Word of the Week) this week it’s ANTHRAX. For anyone that don’t know what the word of the week is about, you can go back to Aug.15 article, Watch: Marine Col. Warns, and read my comment ID2075800. Later to day if Mac post another article, I’ll make a longer comment on the reason for a word of the week. Thanks to all you Patriots that used the word Pressure Cooker so much. Trekker Out.

NSA-Computer’s that are Liqued cooled, and can decifer aprox 15+-TRILLION words Per second, are not very likly to get confused nor blow any gaskets or fuses by folks posting or emailing various Key targeted words eh.

I’d bet such computers are now capable of compiling all related info on for example, if all 7 billion people worldwide, went to a store at precisley the same exact Moment, and all bought a mars candy bar, by first scanning in at the checkout Terminal, their own personal 666-Mark-ID numbers.

I bet them nsa system computers can not only keep accurate track of such an event as all 7 billion people buying the same candy bar at the exact same moment timewise, but can also process the names-address-phone #’s-Medical info-and all personal info avail thats related to each individual buyer worldwide.

And just to make certain they can..Besides that UTAH One Million square foot NSA center, NSA is building Another such massive systems center in TEXS! San Antonio if I recall correctly. Ironicly San Antonio is home to some if not Most of americas Largest Megga-Churches, such as Joel Osteen-John Hagee-and many more.

I bet also that if nsa desires it at Their handler bosses(israel-mossad-cia-us state dept) demands, it won’t take very large cash donations to convince all those megga pastors to begin to preach and teach how swell such an invasive system is and how its akin to Blessing Jews/Israel etc. Give those preachermen Two weeks tops, they will have 50+Million Jewdeo christian zionists raceing to be first in line for their “666-Mark” chip implant so they can continue buying and selling goods.

To get a Pastors Divinity Degree-PHD, all you must learn at Seminary school is Three basic things you will later Preach & teach..#1-Romans ch 13= always must OBEY all forms Govnt orders or laws…#2-You Must Pay 10% Tithes(even though jesus nailed all moses judiac laws to the cross) and #3- John Hagee’s favorite! You Must Bless israel & Jews or God will not bless america!.

After intense 4 years seminary schooling to fully memorize those three basics…You too can be qualified to preach & teach and take massive Bribes from Telaviv and do it all 501C-irs-Tax Free!!…Modern Christianity at its Finest!

Them Guys, Your probably right, a word of the week is kind of a stupid idea. It would probably be a lot smarter for everyone to spend their time sending in comments bashing Jews. It Would be a lot better to harass Jew’s instead of the poor old NSA. Trekker Out.

Its easy to spot them trekker, they do not care or worry of being called vile names or slandered by various Hypocrites who Pretend to be patriots..Untill the subject is Truth or Facts about jewish issues or israel…Then the Fearfull run to hide in Caves till the smoke clears.

Perhaps you or somebody else can Define “antisemitic” or Jew hater….Or do you believe Kommies are evil…But only when they are Not jewish? It seems this common core ed is an extention of prior no child left behind etc et al systems. Which although as a major theme to get elected as Prez, Ronnie reagan Promiced to end the fed dept of education, he not only Renegged on his promice but he Doubled the size and budget costs of the usa dept of ed.

Then as Prez Ol’ Ronnie Reagan, whom it seems every single neocon on TV news-Radio talk shows(rush-hannity etc) and every single neocon repub elected officials, cannot do any speech or comment on tv without makeing mention of Reagans name within the First 5 seconds of their talk or comment, Sly Fox reagan did a kinda secret Treaty type deal with Soviet Moscow Russian kommies back in the 1980’s as Prez.

That soviet kommie deal Reagan did was to make a formal agreement to get a trade off of usa teacher advisors, in exchange for Soviet kommie advisors, to switch nations temporarily and teach each others nations their own respective school teaching methods.

So today we see Russia hunkering down and teaching what american schools Used to teach back in the 1950-60’s when usa schools were number One worldwide….And american schools teaching Pure kommie 101 BS with a heavey dose of PC-Multicultic Diversity-and Faggotry.

Today Russia forbids promoting homo faggot and dyke lezbo info to children in schools and even anywheres in Public settings. While thats the Key main course taught to usa kids today!….Now common core will be the grand finale’ to a total 100% kommie based “Yoots” gen X’ers Gen.

And so many still think Reagan was so heroic! Go Check how swell Charlot Iserbyt Outs the facts on Ronnie Reagan and his “soviet Pals”…She should know since Reagan Appointed and Hired her as a honcho at dept of ed fed level. She got Fired for being an Original Whistle Blower back then!

“Accepted into the Air Force Academy”…that is a whole other story and makes PERFECT sense given the stated circumstances.

The “Air force academy” and the current morality structure are very high on my list of “continue to research” and question the ultimate purpose, action, and unwarranted use of PRESSURE COOKERS! Especially with relevance to the “pre-tenderized minds” of new recruits.

While “home schooling” is an individual option, it is not a viable alternative to a good public school education for everyone. Vouchers are a bad idea because then taxpayers pay for educating ILLEGALS in the Catholic Schools.

Unfortunately the Left has been in charge of the public school system for 40 years, and the schools, like the cities themselves, are inhabited by marginal men and women of dubious moral quality: as they are teaching homosexuality to 4th graders in Toronto.

In my day a HS sex scandal was when two teachers were dating each other. Now they are having sex with the students on a regular basis.

        Go figure. 🙂

        • braveheart

DK, please explain why homeschooling would not be a viable alternative to public schools? I personally know some people who homeschool their children and those kids beat public school students HANDS DOWN! it has been proven repeatedly that homeschooled kids have higher SAT scores than public school kids. Homeschooled kids are a total world apart from brainwashed public school kids. the other points in your post are valid, but I don’t understand your point on homeschooling. braveheart

          • durango kidd

Braveheart: If you think kids in the inner city are dumber than a mud fence now, imagine if they were educated at home by their parents.

Their parents are the problem in most cases and it is passed down from generation to generation. Exposure to some civilization is necessary to allow a few kids who are open to the light to follow the light. That is why public schools are necessary.

Not all of these kids make it but a few do. That wouldn’t be possible if they were home schooled. That’s why I say that home schooling is not a viable option for everyone.

We must find an effective way to reach these kids or our society will forever be burdened by them; not to mention the tragedy of a uneducated human soul struggling for a basic understanding of life. (I example Clark and Yo Mama here as they may be the same person anyway.) In most cases these kids just don’t know better because no one has taught the better. Again my examples 🙂

I think that public schools with Ron Paul’s curriculum is the answer, and that IT must be inserted into the public schools. This requires Americans to get involved at the local level and demand that change.

The left has dedicated itself to infiltrating every level of government and civic life. Until Patriots do, the Left will continue to “transform America”.

Engage your local school board or have your kids “common cored” by them! 🙂

            • Them Guys

This we are seeing today across america is Prophecy happening in Real time. IE: the bible book of Danial.

Danials Statue vision at the final part has “Ten Toes” left standing after the prior world govnt’s were destroyed. From Babylon the head of gold, down to the remaining Ten toes. What today is called “Multicultic Diversity” Danial called the Ten Toes of IRON Mixed with CLAY aka MUD aka mud-monkys aka america 2013!(the iron=whiteys)

            • Merree

In the 60s, some minority neighborhoods created “freedom schools” to teach their children when they felt their children were being ignored by public schools. The idea could still work. Families working together in small groups to educate their children.
Sadly, there may not be much difference for many of the inner city kids between education by illiterate parents and what they manage to learn before dropping out of school.

        • Man on the inside

It can be but you have to make sacrifices…. my wife and I did for all of our kids… and it is paying off bigtime.

    10. Be informed

I know this is very pessimistic but very few people know the sounds of their local civil defense sirens when Russia and/or China launches an attack on the U.S. The siren that is non changing in tone is an indication of a likely weather event or something else local. A siren that changes its pitch and goes up and down means the missiles are coming in or some other massive attack is underway and it is time to get to safety immediately. There is also warning for fallouts, such as from a nuclear accident or an attack. That is of course if your local civil defense is concerned enough about everyone’s safety.

This is a short video, “Know your siren sounds”, explains it and lets you hear the different warning siren sounds that everyone should recognize in these possibly awful upcoming times:

If any nukes get sent flying? I would look to Telaviv before considering china or russia. Israel is the Only nuke nation that still refuses to sign the NON proliferation treaty that ALL other nations Have signed.

Israel is also the ONLY nuke capable nation who has issued dire threats to use what they term the…Samson Option…Which is where if ANY nations refuse to allow israel and its jewish people to do whatever-whenever-They desire doing….Then they will push buttons and Launch all of their 300+ nuke missles at litterally Every major city of european capitols. And likely hit many more lesser cities as well.

Have not yet heard of any Updated info on Samson option now that Israel has been given 1/2 dozen Nuke submarines courtesy of Germany and Merkel…Not looking to good for the usa and canada once israel arms those subs though.

If Netanyhaoo emits an updated samson threat warning, it should not shock anyone if it has been ammended to now inlcude all european capitol cities And all USA/Canada major cities as well. Stay tuned as their favorite time frame for announcements or Suprize attacks on unsuspecting nations is usually done on or near jewish holy day celebrations…Yom Kipper etc. Watch the jewish calander and the skys above!!

    11. George

      Read the article again…
In order to get an “A” for 3 x 4 = 11 the student has to explain and prove their reasoning. It’s really NOT as easy as saying it to make it so.
Years ago (more than I’d like to admit) I was in a math class where, as an intellectual exercise, the lecturer proved that 0.999… = 1. It took him two blackboards of calculations to do it. The impressive part of the feat was that he had proven something that all of us had assumed was untrue and that it took a great deal of intellectual rigor to do it. We all realized that if we wanted to ‘get away’ with false assertions, it would take more work than just giving the correct answer in the first place. I, for one, would pay money to see someone prove to me that 3X4=11.
      BTW, I think the formula is supposed to read: 3x – 4 = 11
in that case, the answer is: x=3. Work it out and see.

      • SmokinOkie

        wouldn’t that be x=5 ?

        • Aaron

haha Okie he took some core math classes

        • Ugly

Smokin. You must have forgotten your HS math? The new algebra is used all the time, especially with electronic voting machines.

          Here is voting formula:

          R(0)+D(0)= 0

Now say you vote for a Republican using the electronic voting machine. Thus,

Now we must balance the equation.

          D(0) = 1 + -1R

          D(0) = 1

Now you know why there are 140,000 votes in democratic districts that have 70,000 registered voters.

Pretty simple if you think about it and just do the math.

          • yental

Exquisite expose/analogy. It is “Ugly”, but in our world, it is also PROVEN TRUE! On BOTH sides of the same coin depending on the “election in question”! Jolly GREEN GIANT thumbs up!

Ok teacher, I’ll explain why 3×4=11. Hold on a sec, updating my status on Facebook….
Ok, see, if you take 11 and divide it by 3, wait, dude! Josh just texted me there’s a party this week end. Oh man, my phone just died. Hey can I borrow your charger? Who’s up for Micky D’s for lunch? Wait , what, oh where was I? Yeah so, 3 goes into 11 like almost four times. Damn, did you see that chick that just walked down the hall. Was up baby. You want to go to a party this weekend? Cool, just friend me , we’ll talk later. Man, I’m so high right now. Oh, right, so like I said, it goes into ,where am I again? Oh, so its so close to 4, closer than it is to 3, and I ain’t getting that whole duey decimal crap, so lets just say it’s 4. So there you are, if 11 divided by 3 is four then 3×4=11. Whoop whoop.

I’ve seen samples of how the students will be tested, and quite frankly it is a test where kids finally have to think. This means educators have to restructure their classes to engage students in activities where they have to really learn. TEachers are really going to have to start teaching and facilitating great learning opportunities. Not just have kids answer the questions at the end of the chapter. Sure, the 3×4=11 is ridiculous, but having kids explain, reason and apply are critical skills in life. They just can’t pick “c” anymore…they have to actually think. Is it perfect? No, but it is better than the tests we have currently. There is no “one size fits all” in education and this style of test can better fit the diversity of the kids. How do I know all of this? I’m a public school teacher and I love my job and helping the kids find their individual success!

i have been told by a teacher here in michigan that common core is so simplistic that it DOES NOT challenge a child to think for themselves.
i was also told that it only teaches “world” and “human” history with American history only taught as a side note and briefly with a heavy emphasis on how America was founded unjustly on the backs of slavery and the poor .
the constitution was taught as somthing that USED to be used “back in the day”.
I was also told that curiculum specifics were NOT to be discussed with parents .
how is this a good thing ?

        • hammerhead

AND lets not forget , the teachers unions dont want the TEACHERS to have to think , thus working to hard .

its all BS anyway , and in clear violation of the tenth amendment which basically says that the department of education IS unconstitutional , curriculum is a matter for the states , or more precisly , local government.

“powers not delegated to the United States by the constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved TO the states respectively, or to the people”

I ELECT school board members based on who they are and what kind of “filler” they plan to use on MY kids brain .
The use of common core in public schools is not a decision the fed gov can make , its as unconstitutional as the healthcare law its attached too .

          • sixpack

You’re gonna love this one. In Washington state, a guy named Bob Travis ran for a seat on the Vancouver school board position 1. He said and did all the right things to get the Vancouver Education Assn. and the Building Industry Assn. of Vancouver to endorse him.

He was later dumped by both, after a photo gallery he linked to on his facebook page, turned out to be images of barely dressed young women and people mimicking sexual positions.

They considered it “in bad taste”.

      • JayJay

I get that you are saying a response is better than multiple choice in promoting thinking skills.
But why not just use the programs already in the curriculum?? (we all know why—some a**hole senator’s BIL is on the board of _____ fill in the blank.)
Just ask, why, or how, or what??
This is the most basic technique in teaching comprehension in reading; one of the first skills necessary for teaching reading and all subjects.
Why do you think the squirrel carried the seeds to his nest in the tree, Tesheika??

To use them in the pressure cooker?? 🙂

kynase, glad you are pleased with the curriculum. I taught a new math curriculum based on Common Core standards for one year. I had successfully taught math for many years prior. The new curriculum was 100% inquiry based math, meant to improve critical thinking skills. As the column above indicates, there were many times when a math problem had no right or wrong answer.

My view was that pure inquiry based math is no better than pure drill and kill memorization of facts. Some of my kids had very poor computation skills. I was told that I absolutely could not do any work on improving those gaps in learning, rather that I should be sophisticated enough to “trust the curriculum”. Those morons I worked for told me that the students would teach themselves basic math skills by doing the inquiry exercises in their math books. I was told I should grow beyond the outdated concept of a teacher centered classroom, and embrace student centered learning. I was told that if I used any material in the classroom that did not come from the curriculum that administrators would come into my room and confiscate it. When I realized that most students would leave my room at the end of the year no better than they entered it, I decided my conscience would not allow me to sign another teaching contract.

We were required to attend many hours of training intended to convince us of the wisdom of this new approach. We were told that in an age of calculators and computer based problem solving students no longer needed to know basic computation skills. (This was coming from the same people who told me the curriculum was so well thought out that students would learn basic skills from immersing themselves in it.) We had to read academic research papers meant to support this method, and write “reflections” on what they contained. Ironically, many of the papers found that developing higher level problem solving skills was meaningless if students lacked the ability to identify and apply the proper computation skills to complete the task. In other words, what they were advocating was not supported by the research they used to support its validity.

Most math teachers did not fully support Common Core math, but they had bills to pay and a retirement to secure.

As a side note, the math professor who was recruited to help develop the Common Core math curriculum refused to sign off on the final result, as he felt it would fail to provide students with the foundation necessary to be successful in the sciences at a university level.

They were offering an advance course in banana peeling, but it proved too difficult for most to master so they just ate them with the skins on, less tasty but didn’t have the nasty after effect of causing headaches from having to think.

      • Man on the inside

How about we have them do real math and then join a debate team for those critical skills. My kids were homeschooled and they test 3 to 6 grades higher than your public school kids. My youngest (who was told she had a learning disability by the public school goons), this year challenged here English class in college and aced the test and got the credits. Public school is now a joke and a good half of the teachers are a bigger joke. GET YOU’RE KIDS OUT OF PUBLIC SCHOOL AND HOME SCHOOL THEM OR FORM A PRIVITE SCHOOL TO TEACH THEM SO YOU ARE IN CONTROL… NOT THE STATE!!!!! This will starv them for money so they shut down.

      • REB

The fact that TPTB are supporting this should be enough to trash it…they certainly are not trying to make the kids smarter…that would defeat the purpose…its like a good cold glass of water that only has a few drops of snot in it…its not enough to hurt?…I think we should just dump it out and start over…WITHOUT the elitists and their ideas!….I mean sure there may be some good in murder but it still isn’t a good concept to allow in… 🙁

Well, in California and other states, they’ve already had a warm up for this for a number of years. The “Everyday Math” problem, developed in the University of Chicago (big surprise there) has been adopted by many school districts. It is along these same lines. Explain it away and you are right. There is no right and wrong. One assignment for the younger ages was to walk around the house and find numbers and write down what you found the numbers on. Genius work! My kids never had number lines or multiplication tables in school – sad state of affairs and is only getting worse.

The saddest thing is how those kids laugh and think it’s trivial. One kid in that video a asian guy gave the best and most truthful answer out of any of them. He said he was not taught that knoknowledge. School needs to be year round. We’d have kids that can rival or exceed there foreign equivalents then. The traditional portion of the year should be spent on, reading, writing and, math. The so called summer break portion should emphasize on, geography, science and, social studies consisting of, U.S. Government, U.S. History and U.S. Law. There is a reason that this country is so far behind in educating its children. First AND foremost, it is the parenting. Today’s parents are content to put their child in front of a TV or Xbox than even reading to them at night. When it comes to schooling, I would say half of the parents with struggling children, don’t even take the time to help them with their homework. Now on to the school systems, todays schools despite the Bush-era “No child left behind” are more focused pushing them through the grades than actually teaching. Inner city schools are underfunded, and generally the teachers are afraid of their own students. (See back to the beginning) but the children in school have ZERO respect for any teacher or authority figure to even care what is coming out of their mouths. And we haven’t even gotten to curriculum yet! Other than math, which is universal, everything else has been tainted. Writing, (You are NOT allowed to express free thought anymore). The arts they are usually the first program to go in an underfunded school. History, the revisionists have been changing the way history has been taught and perceived for years! It goes on and on, but the front line is a home. In my opinion it is up to all of us who have children to educate them the best way that we can. Stimulate their imaginations, show them there is more to the world than what they see on TV! Teach them to think for themselves and to question as much as they can!

I came up in the old public school system in the South when it was segregated and was under local control. US Dept. of Education didn’t come along until the Carter era after I graduated. in the 60s, the schools actually focused on education and nothing else. We actually had to think and work to get our school work 100% correct. If you answered any questions wrong on a test, you were given a failing grade. there were much higher standards back in those days. My, my; how times have changed. this is how far we have fallen in the half-century since I was in school. Public school kids of today don’t stand a chance out here in the real world. My little post on the previous forum made you think? hopefully others will get it .
It’s an old evil we face . What failed in the 1940’s is happening now in our country , what we may be fighting soon is different in the sense of the tyranny that our fore fathers faced, it is all encompassing , brutal with out any respect for life or liberty. It cannot be bargained with, rationalized with, or even pleaded with. It is death incarnate on a massive scale .

The days ahead may be challenging , difficult decisions will have to be made .
But remember in the end time works for us only us, they will fail and permentally be tossed on the ash heap of history if we have the will to opposed them.

There is no going back once this begins it will be all or nothing there can be worse fates than not trying to oppose what is being forced upon us without our consent.

The future is unwritten and does not belong to the faint hearted.

In 08-09, there was a TV commercial everywhere. I don’t remember what it was for, only a phrase that has haunted & upset me to this very day. The phrase was “we’re a nation of consumers, and you know, that’s OK”. It was a very insidious ad, I know I’m not making it clear. Its just that those words keep coming back to me more & more. To me, they started in earnest to subvert our national character at this point. Also, I think that the very young children could be a very real enemy to people like us when they come of age. Last year, I looked at my neighbors childrens school books, that were 9, 12 & 16. I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. I tried to point out a few things to the father, fucking useless. Where are we going to be in 10-15 years? Dark times ahead.

Actually, the subversion of America began before anyone here was born. It picked up speed in the 1960’s, what you noticed in 2009, was the overt, in your face, subversion, which was really going on for the last 20 years, one phrase, one movie line, one commercial, etc., at a time…

        • DaytonaMatt

Hi JustMe, you are absolutely correct. What I meant is that, that’s when it really hit home to me. I was/am just so astounded they would be so bold. It was on Discovery science channel or TLC, it was clearly aimed at early to mid 20’s, just starting out. Now I have to search for it! You’re also right about the movies, can’t say about TV though. We refuse to pay for garbage. Now, we put that money into preps. Take care!

I’m tired of you Preppers knocking my American Education. I have worked all my life and I have a truck.

      Yes, it is my original truck. A 1976 F250 with a 460.

You mess with my truck, I mess with you!

      Nobody touches my truck.

My truck goes fast (varoom, varoom)cause it has a 460; but it just does not go very far, because it gets just 4 miles to the gallon.

In 1970s, my woman and me would cruise the town with my F250 with the 460. But we couldn’t cruise too far because I had a 460 which got 4 miles to the gallon. We had to park and watch the other couples cruise. But we did do some great kissing!

My F250 still runs today and I drive it to work sometimes. I have the original 8-track along with the tapes of Elvis, Led, Stones, Beatles, Johnny, and The Letterman (I got the Letterman for XMas from my Aunt, not my fault).

My truck looks good, and nobody touches it. I have original bumper sticker when I passed people in my F250 with the 460 that said ‘Eat Shit Bitch and Drool’….

My education got me a job and my F250 with the 460. I got what a man needs. What else is there in Life?

      • SmokinOkie

you got me rollin’ on the floor!!!!
couldn’t you have got maybe a 230 in that truck? then you’d get 8 mpg
        a 115 would get you 16 mpg
and a 57 and 1/2 cu inch would’ve got you 32 miles to the gallon! DO THE MATH, MAN!
(with a briggs & Stratton 2 cu inch weed whacker motor, you’d never have to buy gas again!…..

Ugly, when I was 16 and got my first real job, I took $300 in savings, what I made some odd jobs previously, and bought a 1964 Chevy II Nova 2-door post coupe with straight 6 engine and 3-speed on the column. I could run a week and a half on a tank of gas in that car. I had my first girl in that car. 3 months before I graduated I was hit in the rear by a U-Haul truck. the gas tank ruptured and I just barely escaped from the car. Wish I had one of those now, fully restored. Those “3 on the trees” were great. You couldn’t miss the gears in one of those. These kids of today can’t even drive an automatic, never mind what I had. braveheart

        • braveheart

PS, I drove that Chevy II from Memphis to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras and got 25 MPG on the highway. back in the 70s that was good gas mileage for any car. braveheart

I learned how to drive in an old Dodge weapons carrier at 7 yrs old then graduated to my pops bronco, now that was a good set of wheels, he beat the crap out of that thing, many good memories riding in the back seat holding a 30 carbine and 30-30 with the police chief in the passenger seat and pop driving chasing down poachers, ah the good old days, i miss my dad, shure the lord is takin care of him though!

        • Anonymous

@Braveheart.. Great piece of nostalgia to throw in. A first car was an education in and of itself. Those were the days you worked hard all summer to buy a $100 car, one you learned to fix yourself, with junkyard parts or whatever. Ours was a “hands on” generation where we had shop in school, and our Dads taught us to hunt, fish, camp, fix stuff around the house and so forth.

Both my grandparents taught in one room school houses, and fact is, kids were taught everything from the Bible to classic Greek and Roman history, not to mention real, practical math. Lessons. In morality were common fare.

Very sad indeed to see what has happened to our country in the 63 years I have been alive. Tragic. Jefferson once said we need not fear err of opinion so long as reason and logic are free to combat it. He understood that the survival of our Republic depended on a moral and educated public.

My only hope now is that after the Big Crash, or Big Reset, or whatever, perhaps on a local community level we will go back to those one room school house days and once again teach the upcoming generation as their great grandparents were taught.

I am disgusted that my fellow ” boomers” succumbed to the “if it feels good, do it” credo of the 1960s. Not all of us did. In fact, I think most of us didn’t. But then again we were the quiet ones and just went about our business trying to raise families and make an honest living. Never got into drugs, and most people I know didn’t either. In fact, I don’t even drink – I guess the original “square”. Going to church and having two decent parents will kind of mess that boomer thing up for you.

After graduating from high school in 1979, two high school pals and I took a trip out west from our home town in the suburbs of Michigan. We chipped in and bought a 1974 Plymoth Fury Grand 4 door with the good ole 318 in her. That car only cost us $150.00. We put in another $50.00 for plugs, hoses, wires oil change, radiator flush en thermostat. We drove that car from Detroit to Seattle, WA down to LA then back to Michigan. All we did was put gas in her without one break down. My friend still has that car out in his back yard. We all end up back at his place once a year and fire that ole Fury up and listen to her run then drive her down the block for a six pack and sit on her hood rethinking about our trip we took together 30 years ago.

NC legislature in April passed a bill requiring the memorization of multiplication tables and teaching of cursive handwriting.

Common Core doesn’t require either. It would allow a generation of people who wouldn’t be able to read any old documents or letters or be able to calculate on paper.

Kids in my area are taught weird ways of multiplying and dividing in 5th grade. When they get to 6th grade at the middle school, those ways are not accepted. They have to learn to multiply and divide all over again.

All the schools in my area put out lists before school starts requiring the students to have loads of supplies, such as notebooks, dry erase markers, pencil sharpeners, etc. When I was in school, all I had to supply was paper, pencils, and a notebook to hold it all. The school had a pencil sharpener hung on the wall of every room and chalk in all the chalkboard trays. And horror of horrors, there was no air conditioning, so on some days we had to open all the windows and make paper fans.

I wouldn’t teach in a public school now for any amount of money. Every teacher I know is retiring the first minute they’re eligible, except for the ones who quit altogether and teach for lower pay in private schools.

I was home-schooled from 8th grade on,and believe me it was much better to learn that way. I had no teachers screaming in the room,no punk kids giving me trouble, better food variety, the list could go on. And I turned out a very down to earth person. I know if I stayed in public school (AKA – Slave training) I would have no idea about the horrible situation our countries in.

    45. dieselchadron

this actually does not bother me. we have spreadsheets nowadays to take care of the actual calculations, so long as we know what calculation is appropriate for the situation.

in my view, it is much more important to know which mathematical technique to apply than to know how to perform the technique. let the machine perform the technique.

Nothing about this surprises me at all. It has been in the news for years, the U.S.’s school system is a big failure system and California is the leading state for school failure. In Califorina, parents sued the gov’t, so their children could get a high school diploma.

Bankers’ politicians (aka agents aka representatives) have failed us all 🙁 and we allow them do this to our children.

This is HOW they move people INTO THE WELFARE SYSTEM 🙁 (aka credit card money).

I am 32, I graduated from high school in 1999. The overwhelming stupidity of people my age and younger amazes me. Well people older then me too, for crying out loud read a book!!! I know I am not the smartest person but I am fairly intelligent and have self taught knowledge. I went to high school with people who could not read or add and subtract. They did not graduate but kept getting promoted to the next grade until 19 then were kicked out. How crazy is that? I make sure to educate my children, not just public school.

      • JayJay

I was in the public school system and saw first hand–it’s always about the numbers.
Put all kids they can get into special classes–whether they ‘truly’ need those classes or not…more funds.
I had a third grader that couldn’t pronounce her r’s like we do here–in England, she would have fit in perfectly.
She missed my social studies class due to this ‘special’ need to pronounce those damned r’s.
I also had children not prepared for 4th grade…oh, hell no.
The govt. school system ONLY funds for 18 years. Any repeats hurts those ‘NUMBERS’. Send them on!!!

Oh and my 12 year old listened to this video and knew every answer, it took a couple seconds for the capital of Washington but everything else he knew instantly.

Every heard of a Name Dropper? What we need here is a Word Dropper. The word is (Anthrax), use it not only in all your emails but also particularly in you phone conversations. And ask your friends to do the same. As I’ve made the comment before, speak freely, but speak wisely. And please don’t use the word Anthrax in a threating manner. We don’t want to lose any Freedom Fighters before it’s time. Trekker Out.

homeschool – make the necessary adjustments and sacrifices to do it… you nor your children will regret it… a word of caution: when you make the shift, be focused and determined and not lazy, recluse, anti-social weirdos the lamestream media portrays and society has been led to believe homeschoolers are…

beyond this, my wife and I are gathering materials for homeschooling during the Reconstruction which follows the SHTF…

pretty soon all this bullshit wont mean a thing, when hell comes to visit ,adding 4 + 3 will be the least of our worries.

this is a “keep em busy with BS” tactic

    60. mallardhen

I once had a Principal tell me to stop teaching about the WWII Death Camps because he can’t find any “real truth” that they ever existed; and the gas chambers and ovens were just a made up story to put fear into the people.

I didn’t even argue with him about it as I knew I was going to retire at the end of the term and whatever I said wouldn’t matter anyway. As someone said they are pushing for the teachers who really want to teach to retire and looking for the Sheep who only are looking for the money and not the satisfaction of knowing that maybe, just maybe they reached a few of the kids and it will make a difference in how they live their lives.

    61. slingshot

As long as they have the concept it is fine. Never mind they could not correctly worked out the math.

Give the all a calculator and everything will be fine.

How about a slide rule? OOOOOpppps! Don’t want to strain their brain.

    62. dan

Standards for Common Core is owned and operated by non-government entities. Bill Gates and his “gates from hell” foundation is the founder of Common Core. The NGA (National Governers Assoc. developed and implements Common Core. The NGA and UNESCO are part of The Nazi run United Nations.

    63. JayJay

I was just thinking, if all these kids use common core in math, and all these kids become carpenters, buy stock in Lowe’s and Home Depot!!! 🙂

    64. Jeff

More BS! If you do NOT get the correct answer, then you do NOT understand the concept. Nature as described by math, is unforgiving of human stupidity. Get the math wrong with medications, means that you just might have one very dead patient. Getting the math wrong means that space shuttles blow up in the sky, you airplane falls from the sky, the plumbing will not work, or your house burns down from an electrical fire. I am willing to bet that all these new math teachers are very old fashion when it comes to their pay checks or retirement fund. Then, 3×4=12 is the ONLY correct answer. And they will NOT care about how the other person feels, gets the concept or any thing else when their personal numbers are involved. A calculator lets you get the wrong answer faster (if you don’t know what you are doing).

    65. Ga Doc

OK, I just was curious how many kids answered “Urope” as the ‘country’ that starts with the letter “U”.

Now your math quiz…try it out:
Three salesmen (selling pressure cookers) stopped at a motel and decided to share a room that cost $30 per night so they each chipped in $10. (3x 10 = 30, with me so far?)
The manager later realized they deserved a $5 discount so he sent the bellhop to their room with their $5. The bellhop, feeling he deserved a tip for his troubles, pocketed $2 and gave the salesmen the remaining $3.
So, they each paid 10 to start, each got a dollar back resulting in each having contributed $9 to their room
      Now, 3 x 9= 27, plus the 2 that the bellhop kept =29.
What happened to the 30th dollar???

      • Tasha

        Where else? Govt took it!!

    66. some_bunny

That second video in the article is spot on. Does any school even follow the 3 R’s anymore? Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills are not taught as stringently as they once were because the daily classroom schedule is filled with other supplemental classes now like: Human Growth and Development, Sex Education, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) which are outside the scope of normal education.

    67. Tasha

Now it might well be productive to find out how kids got the answer they did–to know where they went wrong and correct it. From what I’ve seen so far, I do not have much confidence in the Common Core. I’ve known teachers from many states and most areas require pretty much the same things: reading, writing, math, English, foreign language American and World History. WE managed to build the greatest nation in human history without the feds being involved. These days we have the internet, so anyone can look up and see what are required courses and in many cases curriculums in various states and cities.

My concern is that it is too focused on “skills” at the high school level—skills they should have mastered BEFORE being allowed into high school. It seems, and I would love to see proof otherwise, that if in an English or History class, one student writes a twenty page term paper and another draws a few stick figures with or without a few words in bubbles coming from their mouths, they will both be said to have “met the standard.” If someone can show that this is not the case, please provide evidence. Thinking skills is a great thing, but to develop thinking skills, they need to have something substantive to think about. My sense of CC is that it is too focused on skills and too low on content—and that this is simply a cover up to pretend that kids who never study, who never read and have IQs in the 80’s are the same as kids who have IQs over a 100 and say they are both “college ready.” Unless they are intellectually disabled, every kid should have to write at least one decent term paper in high school to graduate.

    68. MNchick

This is insulting. I am in high school. I work hard to keep my grades up, so i will be given respect. These comments though, are degrading. Just because some high school students cannot answer some easy history questions doesn’t mean we all are stupid. Sometimes the people on this site argue and don’t get anything done, but insult someone from a computer screen. I have been a faithful follower to this site, but recently everyone argues over petty thing. Sometimes we need to grow up and stop trying to argue over everything. From our great president Lincoln, “A house divided against itself, cannot stand.”

      • Roland

MNchick, good for you that you are working hard at learning. Just be careful not to take as Gospel all of the stuff you are taught in state-controlled schools, especially when it comes to history and government. “Public” schools are evil, and have as their main purpose the manufacture of obedient, state-worshipping robots who will happily support, among other things, the politicians’ nutty wars. Lincoln was not a “great president.” He was a cunning railroad lawyer, a master politician, a tyrant, and a mass-murderer. If anybody deserves to be insulted from a computer screen, it is Saint Abraham. Yes, give the answers that are expected on the tests, but then go to for the truth about the nature of the hideous beast we call the state.

      • RodInTexas

        “From our greatest president Lincoln”!!!!
Wow MNchick YOU are what this article is all about. YOU are proof positive that the current school “systems” are more about indoctrination than education.
“From our greatest president Lincoln” Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha that would be hilarious if it wasn’t so tragic that idiots really believe it.
Get a clue missy…..Lincoln was the initial DESTROYER of our Constitution. Dishonest Abe was the absolute WORST president this falling, failing nation ever had.

        • Roland

For Pete’s sake, Rod, give the lady a break. I’m sure she is way ahead of where I was at her age. It took me 40-plus years to fully understand this stuff. Granted, there is less excuse nowadays with the internet, but calling curious young people “idiots” does not help the cause of liberty.

        • MNchick

Don’t I get points for knowing a quote from a president? I mean considering you think I’m idiot I thought I was doing quite well.

    69. dymaxion4d

Well 1 positive ‘triangle’ +1 negative ‘triangle’= 4 ‘triangles’.As in the 4 faces of a tetrahedron. It is the geometry of nature or synergetics discovered by Buckminster Fuller who perfected geodesics and many other strategies that are very useful to know in a survival situation.I reccomend all his works. Synergetics is available to read free online. Just search for it

    70. dymaxion4d

The book Critical Path by Bucky Fuller is a great history book from an elite insider who was not cool with the plans they had and the games they were playing. It covers much of the history you won’t learn in school up to 1981.It is a shame he did not live to see Google Earth. He had a concept he called a geoscope that was the 1970s equivalent. He was would be horrified to learn that technology was being used more and more to enslave us than to educate and liberate us

    71. d

try and do this math on your taxes. I’m sure the IRS will be open to to debate on the amount you owe *sarcasm*

    72. Mike

Although I agree that the education system in the States seems quite broken, I have to say that I see nothing wrong with the example given and in fact think it is the sort of thing that leads to far better ‘thinkers’

Let’;s face it, if a kid can come up with logical and reasonable workings which show how they arrived at ‘4×3=11’ then they deserve an A !

    73. Roland

Actually, I find it encouraging that these kids don’t give a crap who the vice president is.

    74. Gurgle

It’s up to FATHERS to see that their kids get an education. Schools and colleges can help, sometimes, but their input must be monitored and the truth brought to bear on each item or subject. A FATHER is not swayed by the media or populist opinion, nor is he swayed by a frightened partner. He knows how to bring life into a situation gently and without fuss.

    75. Jim Vinsel

      Remind me to invest overseas.

    76. Terrie the Tiger

      Add and subtract within 20.
      2. Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.

I also have seen where some have taken this apart and put it back together to make the government look worse than they are (no easy feat, granted). I will be doing more research before becoming “inflamed.”

    77. RodInTexas

The libtards and obamabots must be absolutely orgasmic. They’ve already gotten the US over 50% of the way into Third World status…..this “new” “common core” farce should just about guarantee getting us the rest of the way there in the next 20 years.

    78. rick

Libertarians are doing some very interesting things worldwide to combat this–home schools, e-learning, publicizing options.

      Correct answers:

In which war did our country win its independence? If you mean the USA by “our country” consider me excluded from our. Independence from what? Certainly not tyranny. One group of tyrants was replaced by another.

How many stars on the flag of the United States? It’s a colorful rag, who cares how many stars are on it.

Can you name a country starting with the letter “U” ? Urmama. I think it’s a monarchy.

    80. James in Dallas

My son dealt with this kind of thing in school. They called it Leap, but I am sure it is the common core curriculum this article is talking about.

    81. Joe B

If the kid says he is using a base 11 number system, he deserves the A.

      • Billy Davis

We have taken a wrong turn a long time ago.
Back about 1000 B.C. when Moses wrote Deuteronomy 6: 1- Now these are the Laws, the statutes, and the judgments which Yahweh your Father has commanded me to teach you: so that you may observe them in the land
7 R2And you must teach them diligently to your R3children, R4and ftalk about them when you sit in your house, and when you walk on the road, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Why not go back and start over?

        B.D. 613

    82. Burner1

How very “1984” of them. So, basically, we don’t care what we teach our children as long as we teach them the government is always right? This makes as much sense as electing Obama to a second term. It doesn’t matter if the plane the new generation of American Idiots builds crashes and kills hundreds as long as the engineer can explain his faulty construction? All of you who think this is an overreaction just look at the state of education in the United States as it is and then factor in how this program will make it even worse. We are one flush away from being a mere remnant of the great nation we once were.
