While Muslims the world over may argue that Islam is a religion of peace, one simply can’t ignore that teachings of mid-east leaders, whether in mosques or schools, tend to shy away from the idea of co-existence and the right of an individual to live as they choose.
Barbaric textbooks handed out in Saudi Arabian schools teach children how to cut off a thief’s hands and feet under Sharia law, it has emerged.
The shocking books, paid for and printed by the Saudi government, also tell teenagers that Jews need to be exterminated and homosexuals should be ‘put to death’.
Recent editions were obtained by the Institute for Gulf Affairs in Washington, D.C., which says they should raise fears in the West over the use of jihadist language.
The books were published and handed out to 9th and 10th-graders despite Saudi Arabia’s promises to clean up textbooks in the kingdom.
Ali Al-Ahmed, director of the Institute for Gulf Affairs, told Fox News: ‘This is where terrorism starts, in the education system.
‘They show students how to cut (the) hand and the feet of a thief,’ he said.
The textbooks were printed for the 2010-2011 academic year and translated from Arabic by the institute.
In one, for ninth-graders, students are taught the annihilation of the Jewish people is imperative.
One text reads in part: ‘The hour (of judgment) will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them. There is a Jew behind me come and kill him.’
According to the translations, women are described as weak and irresponsible.
Mr Al-Ahmed said the textbooks also call for homosexuals to be put to death ‘because they pose a danger at society, as the Saudi school books teaches’.
Mr Al-Ahmed said: ‘If you teach six million children in these important years of their lives, if you install that in their brain, no wonder we have so many Saudi suicide bombers.’

Christian leaders, past and present, have had their own barbaric delusions on a historical basis as well, so we’re not attempting to elevate one religion above another, but it’s clear that something just isn’t right about theocracies and monarchies that claim to come in peace, while at the same time educating children from a young age to hate, to the point of annihilation, anyone who is not of the same religion or those who have a different sexual orientation.
Our own government officials justify hundreds of billions of dollars in expenditures and the lives of thousands of Americans on wars that they claim will spread democracy, yet it is clear that our ideologies of individuality, freedom of expression and freedom of religion are completely lost on these societies. Secretary Clinton et. al. told the American public that we should support Egyptian and Libyan rioters as it would result in democracy and more freedom for the people of these countries. The reality is that no such system will be established in Egypt and Libya, or Iraq and Afghanistan for that matter. Rather, these countries will instill leaders (probably with the help of Western powers) that will further push the very agendas and ideas set forth in Saudi Arabian text books.
Armies have tried to conquer these regions and institute secular political systems in the past. They have failed repeatedly – for thousands of years. Our attempts to spread democracy there are akin to implementing and spreading Sharia law in the United States. It will be rejected, through violence if necessary.
The point is that we should stop pretending like we can make any significant progress in the middle east peace process. There will be no peace between Israel and Muslim nations. There will be no peace between, or mutual respect among, Muslim countries and the United States, because according to many teachers of Islam, the only good non-muslim is a dead non-muslim. There is simply no way to convince certain Islamic sects otherwise.

Like the U.S.A’s gutted school systems are any better? U.S. grade schools, Jr. Highs, High Schools, colleges, and universities are infested with liberal and Marxist teachers and professors. Private schools in the U.S. are booming with business, for those who can afford it.
Having been to Saudi Arabia, this is no surprise at all. The Wahhabi sect of Islam (the one which folks like Al Qaeda and the Taliban adhere to) was founded and formed in Saudi Arabia back in the 1920’s.
Socially, these folks will treat you with the utmost hospitality, even if you’re Christian (outside of Makah or Madinah – you’re best off avoiding those towns if you’re not a Muslim, period. No fucking around on this note, campers – just don’t be there). OTOH, if they discover you’re gay, Jewish, or otherwise not something compatible with fundie Islam, you’re going to be met with hard stares at best, getting killed at worst.
Hell, this is a country with two police forces – one for the ordinary criminal stuff, and a morality police who will easily take a lash to your ass right then and there if you don’t stop stock still five times a day (during prayers – those happen at sunrise, mid-morning, noon, mid-afternoon, and sunset), or exhibit behavior that they feel is not up to the local accepted moral standard.
Case in point: we had a young lady in our squadron who accompanied us to town. The stares got harder and harder over time… she totally spaced out the hijab (headgear). While the bare head of a western woman is somewhat tolerated, it isn’t tolerated all that easily, and not by everybody. The temperatures got a bit hot (go figure that it would get hot in the Arabian peninsula), and we all removed our outer BDU shirts. She (and we) still had a t-shirt on underneath, but damn the shape of her ample chest was a sight to behold… it took all of five minutes before the shouting began, all of it focused on her. We barely managed to get her back to base ahead of the small mob that began to follow. The commander got her ass out of the country that very night, as the morality police had politely informed him that they were going to be stopping by the next morning to place her under arrest. (funny thing is, all I could remember at the time about it was quipping in the wrong earshot that I wished I had nice tits so that I could go home early… Ah, well – at least the water involved with washing jets the next day felt cool).
Anyway, long story short – that place is among the most extreme in general when it comes to intolerance. Things have opened up a little (I hear that women are allowed to drive now), but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for things to get even 1/100th as live-and-let-live as you would find here in the US.

If you look at the history books of Europe you will find that muslims push into Europe and are pushed back. They keep trying to establish their world wide caliphate and christians keep pushing them back to the middle east. Under the Ottoman Empire muslims flourished and contributed much to the world in science, music etc. But now they only focus on jihad and the destruction of all that is non muslim. I’m wondering just they contributed to science. The decimal arithmetic system that included a zero actually came from India. They named a lot of stars, but did absolutely zippo positional astronomy. They had a method of making steel swords that came from China. They cataloged and preserved some Greek and Roman writings, but they burned a heck of a lot more. They copied Roman techniques when it came to building mosques. What did they actually invent for themselves?

Every culture in the world, past or present, has had some sort of spiritual belief. When this becomes organized it is called religion. Small point of order: Islam is rather decentralized. Unlike Catholicism, Orthodoxy, or similar religious organizations (which has a penultimate leader), Islam is a lot like Judaism, where there is no mouthpiece or leader. It instead has imams, each of which operates more or less independently… just like Judaism has rabbis, which are similarly independent.
Really it’s only the Roman church that has the miles-long chain of command. Barring the Anglican communion, all of the Protestant faiths specifically rejected such hierarchies. This was the first and foremost feature of the Reformation, which came about because of the rampant corruption at the top of the chain. Look at the various Anabaptist faiths today – they don’t even build churches.

Orthodox Christianity does have a nation-by-nation chain of command of sorts, but with no stated leader.
Catholicism’s chain of leadership is actually pretty simple: Priest, Bishop, Archbishop, Cardinal, Pope. All folks higher than Priest is usually considered as a bishop (e.g. The Pope is officially known as the Bishop of Rome, and has duties to that effect – though those duties are usually carried out by others on his behalf).
You do have Deacons, but they’re almost always married and thus cannot be ordained, and so are not considered part of a ‘chain of command’. Nuns and Monks are ancillary positions, have no role in celebrating Mass, and carry no leadership role. Because of this, neither position can influence or interpret canon law.

I do not like that OUR educational system omits/ignores and glosses over some of the most important things that have happened in our history. Are the teachings in those books sickening to me? Yes. And then, if we can’t realize any of the above errors, we say it’s for the sake of Israel’s sovereignty, and that’s why it’s justifiable to have $15 Trillion in debt, before Americans are left homeless on the very continent its forefathers had attempted to conquer for the sake of perpetual liberty.
Never mind that George Washington himself warned us to always beware of foreign entangling alliances, which could spell our nation’s doom . . . Or the warning by Eisenhower of the accretion of power by the military industrial complex, funding wars through the creation of mountains of debt, to the point of our nation’s insolvency.

I find it interesting that some people on here want to tell others how to live, what they can and cannot do. But if those same people wanted to ban gun ownership, everyone would be screaming. I don’t understand gay people, I can’t say I ever will. I know some gays that are elderly, and very nice people and seem happy. I am glad to not infringe on their right to be happy, if they don’t infringe on any of my rights to be happy. There are many things I don’t agree with, but as long as I am not forced to do them, who am i to judge someone else’ actions. That job is well above my paygrade. You know, its funny, in my lilly white, anti-gay, straight laced county we’re taught that homosexuality is a sickness. While I certainly don’t approve of it, its a moral decision that, as long as it doesn’t infringe upon my rights, I have nothing to say about it. If my kids turned gay, I’d still have to love them. I’d remind them I don’t approve but its not my life.
But, as sick as we’re supposed to think homosexuality is, I’ve known 5 gay people. 4 women (two couples) and one guy. Frankly, I’d trust every one of them more than I would trust the general non-gay public in almost every way.

I have been collecting nickels(pre-82), and pennies(pre-82) for a long time now. Some might ask why I sort out the older nickels and I just don’t buy boxes. Call me a nut, but I just dont trust our gubmint. They say that the newer nickels are the same metal composition as the older ones, but when I have a handful older nickels in hand they all feel slippery. They also feel heavier, and they don’t smell the same. Before you call me a nut case, get 25 pre-82 nickels in 2 hands, move your fingers threw them, feel the weight, and give them a smell. Now get 25 newer nickels do the same. you will either see what I mean, or you will say to yourself, that kevin is a moron. Ever wonder why (they say) that we only debased our pennies in 82, but canada debased pennies AND nickels? I just wouldnt put it past the treasury to change the comosition without telling us. They say the newer nickels are 75% copper, BUT they stopped making pennies out of copper because they couldnt afford copper???? Conspericy theory?? YES, but food for thought

One other quick thought. I always tell my friend’s kids that I was spoon fed information in high school, force fed in the army and in colege just learned to vommit the information on exams. It is our responsibility to educate ourselves on every subject that affects our lives. We have all been taught somethings in schools that we have found out later in life that were only partial truths or completely false. Was anyone taught how the fed was created in a school. It is our responsibility to go out and research these things from different perspectives and draw our own conclusions.
So often we cry about being duped. Whether from the organized religions, politicians, teachers or bankers. But it was our own faults for allowing ourselves to be duped, because we never verified, just trusted.
One of the reasons I am drawn to these sites is that I am learning so much information from people that do question what most citizens just assume to be fact. For that I am grateful.

SO: While I would like to lean towards the idea that homosexuality is a choice; and it may be for some, scientifically the data suggests that in some or most cases, HS, is hard wired in the brain.
There may be some “suceptablity” or tendency towards HS also, even as alcoholism is hard wired into the DNA of Native Americans and is triggered by environmental factors after 200 years.
Example: The pedophile priests of the catholic church have sodomized and abused many hundreds of thousands of straight children generation after generation. These children are traumatized by these experiences.
These experiences generate emotions and the emotions generate hormones and chemicals that eventually change the way the brain works, much like habitual drug use does on crack heads.
As a man thinks, so he is. Thoughts are things. OUR thoughts create electrical pathways in OUR minds that leave a chemical and physical imprint on the brain.
Thus the sins of the fathers are visited upon the children unto the fourth generation; if not perpetuated forever.

That’s an excellent response dk. I’ve pondered for years about the possibility of electro-chemical pathways in the brain, and their ability to steer a person toward a particular behavior.
Most of us probably know someone (or we may be that someone) who was subjected to some sort of trauma in childhood, possibly even as an infant and we have no memory of it. Those traumas create permanent microscopic ‘highways’ or pathways in the brain. And they may also trigger some imbalance of hormonal chemicals. That would explain many of the tendencies we humans have toward certain actions (even fears or phobias) which are considered abnormal when compared to the population at large.
All the more reason not to hate or condemn people as if we were God, or could understand their motivations like He does.
Still, the actions themselves should not be condoned or promoted as ‘normal.’ I guess that’s where many of us cross the line. We judge the person (which we have no right to do) rather than the actions. Secondly, I believe all Christians should recognize their own sins and confess them before God before trying to ‘fix’ others.

If one REALLY studies “The Theory Of Evolution” one finds that it is much more religion than it is science. In fact, a real scientist would never call it the theory of evolution. They play word magic to try and confuse you. Its scientifically called “Cross Species Evolution” but politically called “The Theory Of Evolution” and its premise is so void of facts, scientifically, that to believe in it requires far more intellectual blindness that anything every deemed printable by mankind. As a speaker of Arabic and having a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies, I can tell you that the above information is actually quite old, and really is not a new story. I do not want to sound like I am uncaring about this issue, but this is Islamic theology. Anybody who has read, either in English or in Arabic, the Koran (Islamic sacred scripture) and the Hadeeth (Islamic sacred tradition) knows that the violence in Islam is ingrained and inseparable from the theology.
As for any comparison between Islam and Christianity, the similarities between the two are at best superficial because the theologies are irreconcilably in opposition to each other. Yes, there are good and bad Moslem people alike, as there are in any religion be it Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Atheism, and so on. However, what any person or group of person believes does not change orthodox theological teaching, as theology is based upon a presumed value regarded as absolute truth.
Briefly stated, in Islamic theology the concept of man’s human dignity is not intrinsic, but is conditional upon obedience of Islamic theological teachings. This is the reason for the violence against non-Moslems as well as non-practicing Moslems. Thus while there certainly are benevolent Moslem individuals, orthodox Islamic theology does not and cannot change.
I recommend that anybody who wants to understand Islam read Islam’s own sources for its theology and history, beginning with the Life of Muhammad by Ibn Ishaq, as it was translated and published by Oxford University Press and can be purchased on Amazon for about $30. It is a very accurate, fascinating, and disturbing account in Islam’s own words about the religion, Mohammed, and how the theology unites with what we see happening today.

When I worked in Iraq (2004-08) I ran across American Soldiers handing out leaflets to the locals trying to get them to accept Jesus Christ into their miserable lives and getting them to covert into happy clapper Baptists or whatever. I asked this young kid handing these leaflets out (he was from North Carolina as it turns out) I asked him what he would do if he saw a bunch of Muslims handing out leaflets to local kids in his home town, trying to convert Americans to the Muslim faith? He lost his temper and ranted on about throwing scum like that out of his town and how dare Dirty Muslims try to pollute American kids with that Barbaric devil worship religion!!!
I think that kid is still lost for words, trying to explain why 20 Non American contractors threw coke cans, water bottles and a few rocks at him calling him every expletive under the sun for being a dick head and peddling his devil worship crap as we drove past him further up the street. He was utterly humiliated!!! Standing there in his BDUs with his gob wide open and us all laughing at him.
Americans just don’t realize that most of the world don’t want what Americans have. The way of life, life style, education system or style of religion. If we wanted to live like Americans we’d move there! Most of us a happy NOT living as Americans do.
Living south of the equator I’m happy with the easy going way of life, higher than American income, million times better food and way higher standard of living. As a two year resident in Riyadh (Capitol) Saudi Arabia, I can speak from experience.
Never in my life have a lived in a more hypocritical place.
ALL of it’s citizens are brainwashed. Five times a day, starting at around 4:30-5:00 am (varies according to the phase of the moon) ALL are called to prayer. For their entire life, 7 days a week, 5 times a day, 52 weeks per year, they go and listen to a Mullah and say their prayers bowing to Mecca and Medina. So for an 20 year old person, it roughly equates to a maximum 36,500 visits to the Mosque for indoctrination and prayer. In the Western world, if a person went every Sunday to church, a 20 year old would have made 960 visits. This is a ratio of 38:1 of religious doctrination.
On par with the above I experienced this indoctrination in an Arab by conversation. When we reached a certain point in any, logic, reason and discussion went “out the window”, it was if I had hit a brick wall and no amount of reasoning or talking could get through the “haze” that had been set up in their minds and in their hearts. It was very upsetting to me, yet eye opening at the same time. They also were some of the most paranoid people I had ever met. At least untill Obama got elected.
Out of all the Saudis I met in two years of living and working in their Capitol City, I only met one I could trust with my life. All others could not be trusted in any sense. They ALWAYS had another agenda. There were the simple ones, bedouins, that were reasonably ok and I got along with them, but in any strife or in any topic of controversy, one could not trust them with your back turned.
I knew beyond a shadow of doubt that we (America) were going to exerience trouble at the hands of Islam and the Saudi’s, when I left that place in the spring of 1993. I told everyone about it when I got back home to America and it mostly fell on deaf ears.

I would like to clarify a few things as a Muslim. We Muslims pray 5 times a day, and the times are set according to the sun, so sunrise, afternoon, late afternoon, sunset, and at night are the times that we pray. When we pray behind an Imam, we only listen to the verses of the Qur’an that the Imam recites and it is not indoctrination as you may think. We pray to remember our Lord, to remember that we are His servants and to Him we shall return.
I don’t understand what you mean by indoctrination in conversation with an Arab and how logic was thrown out the window, can you explain that?
And about the crescent moon and star, this was not the symbol for Muslims at all, it was used at first by the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century and used by Muslim countries in the 1950s & 1960s so it really has nothing to do with Islam. As a Muslim who has a little knowledge of his religion, the crescent moon and star mean nothing to me.
