Consider that on March 31, 2011 we were about $76 billion below the budget ceiling. Within two weeks, we’ll have exceeded that ceiling, which clearly demonstrates that cuts of $10 billion, or $50 billion or even $500 billion are mere peanuts with respect to what is actually being spent by our federal government on a regular basis.
Ron Paul, unlike those republicans who have masked themselves behind third party movements yet continue to do more of the same, actually adheres to the Constitutional principles from which the original Tea Party movement originated. Tackling such fundamental issues as government accountability, an end to corporatism and legislative corruption, monetary policy and restructuring or elimination of the Federal Reserve, spending within our means, foreign policy, and individual liberty, the good doctor is without question one of only a handful of federally elected representatives who we could call a statesman and not a politician.
It’s no wonder, then, that Dylan Ratigan asks what millions of other Americans would undoubtedly ask if they were to find themselves in the company of Ron Paul:

In the last election both candidates were approved and backed by the powers that be.

Make the government run a balanced budget (oh look Ireland may have to borrow more money from the IMF to make interest payments this year, yeah that will help!) and lose most of our federal nanny state services, if individual states want them so be it. All state/federal employees get a 401k just like the rest of us, the governments contribute no more then the AVERAGE of all businesses combined that contribute to their employees 401ks. They also get a run of the mill health care plan, not the Cadillac thank you very much. They can pay for that themselves.

There is a good, sane start at least. Yes corporations need to pay their share, but you’re not going to attract business with the highest tax rate available. Even with the loop holes (which only a few massive companies actually benefit from) we’re still higher then the majority of countries. Also too many regulations to keep businesses down doesn’t help either. Rules should apply to ALL businesses not a select few. And by no means am I defending the worthless big banks, blow them up. Local banks are a different story since they didn’t get a bailout just the shaft.

Speaking as a former political candidate (also), I can say with good certainty that there are very few things in life that are as totally worthless as your vote. Not because the vote itself is worthless, but because the only people who are going to get elected to any office above the level of Volunteer Fire Commission in this country are going to be fully sold out to the bankers and lobbyists as a prerequisite of getting elected. You have no choice but to vote for someone who is already sold out.
