Anyone that shoots regularly will be buying ammo in thousand round lots to save money. I can easily use several hundred rounds in one afternoon at the range. If the family goes we can burn through a thousand rounds plus. On my own I can burn through a several thousand rounds a year.
Having a few cases of ammo is no more a crime than buying club packs of paper towels, and hamburger.

PTPO, you should be SAVING all the ammo that you can and try to use as little as possible at the range in order to maintain your shooting skills. I go the extra mile to conserve ammo and even then most of my target practice is with .22LR. there is a war coming to this land and we need to save all the ammo we can.
My philosophy is to buy a hundred, and use 50….. then repeat.
I do practice with .22 and have a .22 conversion kit for one of my favorite handguns.
Two years ago it was really tough, the 22 shortage was so bad I stopped shooting .22 to avoid cutting into my base supply. I was forced to buy the really cheap stuff for the range. It’s finally over and I can find the better high velocity copper jacketed stuff. The cheap stuff makes cleaning a firearm a bitch.
Ammo shortages freaked me out enough that I’d start buying ammo for a new firearm purchase months before buying the actual firearm. What goods a firearm with no ammo.
Many firearms don’t even come into their best accuracy until they’ve been broken in with 500 to a 1,000 rounds going down range. Ammo to break it in, sight it in and practice with it, is all part of the cost of a new firearm.
“What good is a firearm without ammo?” And there lies the pinch point. This will probably be King Koon’s avenue to control firearms.
When you buy ammo. Buy a magazine also.
I was stockpiling ammo long before Sandy Hook. I knew something like that would happen but not to the extent it really did. When I buy a gun I used to use up 500-1000 rounds myself to get it broken in but that was back before Sandy Hook and when everything was a lot cheaper. It’s a lot harder now to even find 500-1000 rounds to of any caliber to BUY let alone for breaking in a new weapon. I had also stopped practicing with .22 for awhile during the shortage to conserve my supply. Once the supply situation improved, I started going back to the range. I know what you mean about the cheap rounds. Now I only use the better quality rounds for practice myself. I still have to replace my 2 favorite pistols out of the 5 that were taken in the burglary and one of them was a Ruger SR22 that I got for Christmas last year. That was the best .22LR pistol I’ve ever owned. Gun show in my area Dec. 12-13 so I’ll be shopping then.
I like ammoseek.com for finding inexpensive ammo on the Internet. It’s not an ammo dealer, it is a dealer search tool. It’s where I usually find dealers to buy my range ammo from. There is another similar ammo search tool I’ve looked at, but the name slips my mind.
I often use ammoseek as a benchmark for evaluating local sales prices. Don’t forget to account for shipping charges and hazmat fees to the real cost for comparison.
Their search tool lets you add key words for your searches, like the words new brass. You can find unusual ammo, like 12 pellet 00 buck shot, 60 grain subsonic 22LR, 800 FPS 45, low velocity rifled shotgun slugs etc.

Thank you for sharing. I was born in SB County and lived there most my life. For many years I lived in SB city limits with close ties to the SO and CHP. We finally moved because of gangs and meth. They are everywhere and though we lived in a nice neighborhood, we still had to grocery shop somewhere. My husband got to where he wouldn’t let us go out at night or to the mall even during the day. He was CHP and always carried his weapon. I remember when they opened Walmart in Highlands during the 90’s and I was forbidden to go there….brand new store but so many meth heads.
I wouldn’t live in that city without carrying. It’s unfortunate because it really was a beautiful city back in the 60’s/70’s. It killed my husband to leave his childhood home but, high speed chases, house being broke into, and prowlers finally did him in.

Friends the shootings are going to increase from now on. The use of tactical and night and/or thermal gear will be used more. This will lead to a ban of the average person owning said gear. The ban of assault weapons (defined as any weapon capable of firing full or semi-automatic, long or hand), the manufacture, selling, and ownership will be put in place. The ban of ammunition for said weapons (calibers these are chambered for), will also be put in place. Now the ban of said calibers ammunition has totally done away with all weapons in these calibers, be it shotgun, rifle, or hand gun, hey no ammo no go bang. That means any gun action, bolt to single shot and yes wheel, all gun chambered in those calibers period. So by banning the ammunition they have basically ban all fire arms under the ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN.
I have said it my entire life when will TPTB make their move; the winter time, why because people will be to hard pressed for food and staying warm to fight. It is statistically proven that 10 percent of people are basically sheep dogs. The ones who run to the situation. The ones who fight. 80 percent of people are the type that freeze. They don’t know what to do. Some of that 80 percent can become sheep dogs with training but they freeze even for that crucial second. The other 10 percent are the ones who choose flight. They try to run.
A lot of the sheep dogs are service members, ex service members, cops, fire, rescue squad ect. A lot are just good people that have training to protect there family. They have chosen that route.
The majority of people who serve are good people. Whether they wear a uniform or just choose to help in the emergency situation.
Comments like yours are what the government wants. They want us divided so that they may conquer. I am proud of my time in the service. I would hate to serve under the current jack ass.
Most service members feel that way. I am not speaking for generals. I am speaking for the enlisted and low rank officers. Most cops are sick of the PC bull crap they have to put up with. They arrest the same people over and over again and are prosecuted because they threw the idiot into the car for example. The rescue squad people are sick of being used as a taxi. So many times they are called to take someone with a cold or fake cold to the hospital. Just giving a ride to town.
Fire fighters put there life on the line just like all the rest. I am tired of people thinking that these people are bad just because the leadership of our country is a bunch of scoundrels.
We never hear of the heroics of any of these people unless it is for the benefit of the press or elite.

I am a volunteer firefighter for example. If I was ever told to do something against my belief system or flat out wrong I would tell them to shove it. I think you misunderstand me and the sheep dog prayer. To be honest there was no way you could understand where I was coming from because I did not state it. I am an Oath Keeper. I have stood guard at recruiting stations because of how our soldiers are treated. They ordered not to speak to us but most disobeyed that order. We were considered terrorist doing that.
For the sake of honesty which is my # 1 pet peeve I will say some things that hurt but are the truth.
When 911 happened I supported the invasion of Afghanistan, the invasion of Iraq, and the patriot act. The only one that I was correct on was possibly the invasion of Afghanistan and it looks like I may have been wrong on that front too.
The patriot act was a horrible mistake and I should have known that from history. I believe it was Ben Franklin who said ” Someone who is willing to give up freedom for security will have neither “. The reason I feel the way I do regarding Afghanistan is the opium. They are not like the other nations we are currently involved in. I do believe there were training camps there that needed to be taken care of. Question is why are we still there and why are we not torching the Opium fields? It appears we were interested in the largest production of Opium in the world rather than oil in that country.
Why are we not truly fighting a war? We put our troops under ridiculous engagement rules that care more about foreign lives than we do our own sons and daughters. The country today is fighting over oil, resources, and the reserve currency. We are meddling in places where we have no right to be.
Being a vet at one point meant you had fought against communism, the Nazi’s and had tried to liberate people and preserve freedom. Freedom that gives us the rights we have including free speech to do what you and I are doing now. Not anymore unfortunately. We are a falling empire that is flailing wildly trying to preserve it’s power. Fighting over resources and money not for the good of people.
Is there a fight we should be fighting? Yes. We should be fighting against sharia law and radical Islam. There is no way to negotiate with someone who will kill you for your own beliefs. Twice in the past couple of months I have had discussions with people who believed if they just had money and good jobs they would leave us alone. They are so ignorant when it comes to this issue. The fight has nothing to do with money. They are thinking as most Americans think. The fight is over a belief system. We must win that fight or things like California will continue to happen. We don’t need to invade any country to fight this fight. I wish we would just close the border bring our troops home and let them guard it. That will not happen though because we are fighting a so called war against terror which is really for resources.
I give my utmost respect and thanks to most vets, police officers, fire fighters, and first responders. A lot have put there life on the line since 911 believing it was for you, the country, and myself. For that they deserve respect. The majority of these people are waking up and realize as I have what is going on. I know so many being a past vet and in Oath Keepers. I also know some in the intelligence areas of the military. They are all so frustrated at this point.
The government has tried to pit us all against each other. Police against citizens. Military against citizens. Black against white. Men against women. Gays against straight. Gays against the church. ect.
It is all one huge powder keg waiting to explode by design. Those of us who stand watch must be aware of this. We must do what we can to prevent divisions. I wondered if it would not be shelved, so I called to see if it was available – about the time it was shelved, there were 13 holds on it already!!!
Use you minds, my friends. Write! Communicate! Get creative like donating books! Talk to family and friends, co-workers where possible. Do that and we win. Chicken out of doing that, or excuse yourself for not doing that, and we lose. Need *details* to communicate? You have a FREE paper on gun control right there listed above. I used to like the President but he seems to have become very disoriented as his narrative no longer matches reality. ISIS are not ‘contained’: they are off the leash. In Paris, he seemed listless and insensitive. His statements, which go long lengths to avoid saying the obvious and evidential: this is Islamic terrorism and it is a big problem: show a man clearly either not interested or pursuing another agenda.
It is beyond irresponsible to not prepare the civilian population for war when you are at war. This is due the biggest civil lawsuit in history (that it is not happening tells you how far most lawyers have fallen). We need to start suing for large sums (many millions) all government officials who are not taking action to defend the population. And we need to start putting in jail all government officials who enable or let in terrorists and their enablers. It is now time; the line has been crossed.
