While most Americans who braved the annual Running of the Sheep celebration were stocking up on discounted veggie steamers and last year’s flat screen TV models, those who understand the threats to liberty and personal safety chose to spend their hard earned wages on personal protection.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation sales of firearms on Black Friday broke a new record. The agency processed 185,345 background checks, or roughly two per second. The previous record was set shortly after the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012 when President Obama and numerous anti-gun Senators proposed widespread bans and restrictions on “weapons of war,” prompting literal lines out the door from Americans fearing government driven confiscation initiatives.
Black Friday shoppers sought to buy a record number of guns on the nation’s biggest retail holiday — about two every second — eclipsing a previous record set in the days after the Sandy Hook massacre.
The FBI processed a terrifying 185,345 firearms background checks — the most ever on a single day — on Black Friday, the agency said Tuesday.
While a background check does not mean a gun was purchased, the mandatory National Instant Criminal Background Check System checks are seen as the best measure for U.S. gun sales. (NY Daily News)
Mainline news outlets like USA Today, the New York Daily, and the Huffington Post made it a point to note that on the very day 185,345 Americans across the country were purchasing firearms a crazed individual killed three people and injured nine at a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic.
President Obama, who saw over 10,000,000 guns sold ahead of the 2012 Presidential election, weighed in after the shooting.
“Enough is enough,” Obama said in a statement on Saturday. He said the Planned Parenthood shootings showed the need to “to do something about the easy accessibility of weapons of war” for “people who have no business wielding them.” (Huff Post)
We assume he is referring to the millions of Americans who wield these weapons of war after being subjected to unconstitutional background check violations, attending multi-hour safety courses, studying their legal responsibilities in safe defense situations, and spending hundreds of hours at the shooting range ensuring they don’t kill innocent bystanders should they ever be forced to draw their weapons.
He couldn’t possibly be referring to people in positions of power who have initiated drone strikes that kill 90% civilians and control our nuclear strike codes, though they have never served in the United States Armed Forces, never held a private sector job, served as a state Senator for just two years with the only accomplishment to their name being a Harvard education for which no official records exist before becoming the highest elected official in the land.

Assuming that data exists then its in violation of Federal Law (and many states) as it would require keeping background check records beyond the time allowed by law. Obviously its not only quite possible but highly probable that it is being done.
Um… Background check records are forever. The fact is required to keep the 4473 indefinitely, and to produce it on request to the BATF who can “inspect” them. The records revert to the BATF on the loss off the federal license, retailer closing, etc.

IIRC, if a dealer goes out of business for some reason -no longer is an FFL holder- he is required to turn the records over to the ATF.
I doubt they destroy them at the 20 year point.
So if you’ve bought one from a dealer in the last 20 years and he is no longer around the ATF most likely has your form and name on file.
I don’t think the rule has changed, but if it has and someone knows about it tell me.
The 4473 records are kept on paper. The NIX check has 30 days. Once in the land of electrons it is forever regardless what the law states because, “The Law” is notorious for not following the law.
On top of that, I doubt they go back and delete it from the automatic backup files as well after 30 days.
How often when you delete something from your computer do you also hunt it down on your backup files (server, etc.) and delete it there as well? I’m not even sure it is fully legal to scrub information from government back up files, no matter what Hillary may say.

Part of it is all the manufacturers are trying to get rid of inventory before Jan(tax time) and are having rebates and incentives to move out products. What we don’t know is that one background check might cover 1,2,5 or more weapons at one check. there might be 300,000 guns covered under those checks. The more the merrier. Throw Christmas in the mix and things are looking good!

This is just the people who have to go through the instant background check before purchasing a firearm. As a CHL holder, I’m “Pre Checked” and don’t have to wait on the Instant Background Check to approve me each time I purchase a firearm. I just fill out the paperwork, give them my money and walk out with my firearm. I know there are lots of people in this nation with CHL’s or CCW Permits that are in the same boat as me.
There are well over 500,000 active CHL holders in Texas and about 6 million CCW holders in the U.S., none of which must wait on an federal instant background check.

Delaware avoided the State NIX check for a CC permit holder but not the Federal check. They did two.
Locally, I’ve furnished either my CCW permit or my Curio & Relic FFL03 when buying anything at a shop, seems to satisfy the dealers about 1/3 of the time, the rest of them just keep on requiring the 4473 and NICS call.
The law says one thing, but some dealers are just not up on the law or want to play it safe. “Yes, your Honor, I did the background check on the purchaser.”

When SHTF, there will be at least one reloader in your community. Just one pound of powder will reload 300 .223 rounds or 600 pistol rounds. Your brass, once-fired, is generally good for between 4 and 10 reloads, depending on how much you work the necks.

I want to live behind the big dick and balls of the world’s most formidable military, and I think most people who bitch about military spending would change their tune the first time they didn’t have the luxury of the protection of that military and the comfort it affords most US citizens. But here’s a fact: Putting every dollar we have into the world’s biggest, baddest military means that there is no arsenal you will every build up in your house that will give you a fighting chance if our crazy Muslim, African-born president goes dictator on you. Most of those illegal guns start as legally transacted guns. It’s not like huge gun cartels smuggling stuff in. It’s legal guns getting stolen or just being bought legally and then resold illegally. Control the legal guns, you’ll vastly improve controlling the illegal ones.
