Editor’s note: We’ve all sung it, but how many of us know the story behind it? This post ran one year ago today, and on this day of liberty we thought it’d be of interest to share once again.

The following has been excerpted from Mike Todd
Listen closely to the words and it tells of a highly emotional moment in US history when the war with the British was being fought and of one man’s relief in seeing the US flag still flying after a vicious bombardment.

The War of 1812 had been a particularly nasty conflict with the British. They had burned down the Capitol and the White House in Washington, and were set on taking the port of Baltimore, which was protected in part by Fort McHenry, just to the south.
…
The attack started on September 12th, 1814, and after an initial exchange of fire, the fleet withdrew to form an arc just outside the range of Fort McHenry’s fire.
Skinner, Beanes and Key watched much of the bombardment from the British deck. The major attack started in heavy rain on the morning of September 13th. Just under three miles in the distance the three men caught glimpses of the star-shaped fort with its huge flag – 42ft long, with 8 red stripes, 7 white stripes and 15 white stars, and specially commissioned to be big enough that the British could not possibly fail to see it from a distance.
In the dark of the night of the 13th, the shelling suddenly stopped. Through the darkness they couldn’t tell whether the British forces had been defeated, or the fort had fallen.
As the rain cleared, and the sun began to rise, Key peered through the lifting darkness anxious to see if the flag they had seen the night before was still flying. And so it was that he scribbled on the back of an envelope the first lines of a poem he called Defense of Fort M’Henry:
O, say can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming
As the mist started to clear he was aware that there was a flag flying – but was it the British flag? It was difficult to tell:
What is that which the breeze o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
But finally the sun rose, and with intense relief and pride he saw that the fort had withstood the onslaught …
‘Tis the star-spangled banner – O long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave

But we are still here. And many are still trying.

One, I find it to be kick-ass that Mac posted this. It never hurts to remind folks of what it is we have, and how we got here.
Two, never forget these things.
I recall on the radio yesterday a push by a college to read the Declaration of Independence aloud on July 4th. I think we need to mobilize folks and do that, so that people do not forget…
…and in the case of half of Portland out here, so that half the snot-nosed little lefties will actually learn that the Founding Fathers were more than just slave-owning overlords of some sort.

That is why our founding fathers so wisely tied our laws to the 10 Commandments and the Bible. It is a code of behavior that provides liberty to all but does not condone behavior that will be hurtful to another. Many seek to remove religion from the government and law. But how it that possible when this nation and it’s laws were founded on religious beliefs? This nation grew powerful as long as we followed those beliefs. But when we began to refuse God and his laws, He removed His protection from us. And look what we have now!
There is a reason prospering societies have always had taboos and boundries of behavior. It actually protects that society and keeps it strong.

The “war” of 1812 was the banksters first attempt at destroying our freedoms and our Republic.

It can listen to your phone calls, read your emails, seize your DNA and challenge your silence, all in violation of the Constitution. Bitterly and ironically, the government Jefferson wrought is proving the accuracy of Jefferson’s prediction that in the long march of history, government grows and liberty shrinks. Somewhere Jefferson is weeping.”

As an aside it might help to consider that the nation Mr Jefferson helped create was not and did not include a powerful federal govt(one that is able to commit the crimes you list)…it wasnt under the constitution we now hold so dear…it was a loose confederacy governed by the willful intercourse of the various states and not by any central authority….its governing principles were laid out in the Articles of Confederation and were closer to the founders original intentions than the present constitution…remember the constitution is in two parts…the first refers to the powers and operations of the federal govt and the second(the first 10 amm) to the peoples rights…the second part is what most freemen hold dearest if you really dig down deep….main point is that Mr Jefferson didn’t vote for or support the constitution, he supported and worked for the that first system and called for a Bill of Rights when it became apparent that a new constitution was approved(remember also that the so-called Constituional Convention WAS NOT called to replace the Articles but to revamp and upgrade them…in a manner of speaking some of the founders got off their mandate and got into redefining the nations setup and operation…not everyone was a federalist,hence the anti-federalists)…but not for a strong federal govt…perhaps we need to revisit the founding and get a bit closer to the ideals set fourth in the articles?
For me, this 4th of July feels like a burial, our flag is tattered and torn, it has been stepped on and desecrated by those who have no respect for human liberty and freedom. I salute the American Flag and I salute all of the men and woman who have died for what it stands for. I also salute the Americans who still believe in the flag and who want to save it from those who wish to destroy it and in turn destroy our America.
The people in charge right now are nothing but carpetbaggers, con artists, fakes, ego maniacal idiots and shameful excuses for human beings.
Old Glory will rise from the grave one day, stronger than ever and out of their reach. I hope I live to see that day.
I went to a fireworks show last night that claimed to be celebrating freedom. At the gate was a sign that read cullman county sheriffs department, no fireworks, no firearms, no 4wheelers, no alcoholic beverages, all vehicles subject to be searched. How does that go with freedom.
I feel hope. I am surprised to feel that knowing what I know about what is going on in this nation right now. But I watch legal aliens taking their citizenship vows and they are soooo happy to be Americans. They fought and waited a long time to get here. They worked hard to support themselves in a new country. And they voiced how they felt more American then they felt _____ (wherever they came from). And one young woman said: ” I didn’t take the test for a couple years after it was possible. It is a big step. I flew back home to Columbia to visit and found that the US is my home. I am American now. And I am ready to take up arms for my new nation. So I took the test and now I am an American.”
I have a sliver of hope.
On this 4th of July I pray that the American government isn’t able to accomplish what the British government
failed to accomplish in the War of 1812.

It was so well written and in story form could be read to most ages above 10 and they would be taught the real story.
I lost it, sadly.
The story I heard 10 years ago, was that the flag had been held up by Patriots. Everytime the flag was about to fall, one would run and hold it up, he would be killed and another would run out and hold it up. So in the morning, the flag was literally held up my blood, sweat and tears. And to think of the current situation of our country, it makes you sick. Those Patriots gave their lives so the flag would wave over the Land of the Free, so hard to believe and they are going to let all these immigrants into our country with no sense of national pride, no idea of our history….

These take awhile, no doubt! I started years ago and still working on #5 and #7.
After I “woke up” to what’s going on I started feeling disillusioned about the idea of celebrating our diminishing liberty as well. But then I realized, I still deeply care about and am grateful for the IDEA of our country and the freedoms it represents, if we could get it back to the way it was meant to be. I find I am empathizing with the colonists so much more these days. They had to fight to make our country free. We have to fight to keep it that way. Their triumph gives me hope that we too can triumph. This year my celebration of our freedom was a prayer for what our country can be, not mourning for what we have lost. We must keep our passion alive for the true freedom we desire, because apathy and complacency is part of what got us in this mess to begin with. This was my way of doing that. Instead of letting my heart turn bitter and hard against our country for how far it has slipped from the ideal, I am more determined than ever to give that ideal of freedom and liberty, which I know we can regain, my love and gratitude and loyalty. God is on our side, failure is not an option, the only question is how long it will take.

Has anyone seen the ESPN presentation called I’m going home that is playing today? Shows troops coming home early to surprise their families. I rarely watch TV but turned it on today as I was vac sealing some beans and rice. This show will make you shed a few tears and hits your gut hard about what this nation was built on. Families and freedom graciously given to us by the Father. The reactions on the faces of family is absolutely priceless. Then I got really incensed thinking about where this culture is taking us. It promotes everything that is the opposite of what family and faith are all about. I’m celebrating this day by thanking God first of all for all I have. But let’s face it, for most of us, the wheels have not fallen off the cart……yet. For me, at 50, it’s more like…….we have had it so good, for so long, it just can’t last much longer. I know in my heart that the whole charade is based on faith, bullshit and lies. And at some point, the curtain opens, and we see there is nothing there, there. Then the real party begins.
If a blindfolded observer, from any point in time or any place on Earth were dropped in our midst, he would surely look around at what we enjoy, and proclaim everyone in this land lives like a King. Say it ain’t so.

Today everybody wants somebody else to do the work for them or pay for their mistakes. It’s is always someone else’s fault. If you build your home in a flood plane, fire prone area or on a sandy barrier island then expect the water, fire or storms to do damage and accept responsibility for your decisions and those people should pay for the added requirements to rebuild. Want a stone barrier or pilings to raise your home. YOU pay for it. Don’t ask the government or have YOUR extra expenses spread upon others by insurance claims. Yes, we have to help our fellow Americans in need but it has gone to the extreme and they drag the rest of us down with them.
You want a fire station, school or new library in your area. Then raise only your property taxes in the area you live in. I hear them say, We need this or that, and a few years down the road the project turns into a White Elephant. Either abandoned or consuming taxes for its upkeep. When was the last time a city project was completed under budget. Most have cost over runs that double in price. Our city is going to build a JUMBOTRON for our NFL stadium. One hundred feet high and two hundred in length. Sixty-three million dollars. The owner of the NFL team will put up 20 million and the city will pay the rest by a Bed Tax. Today it is beer. And television. And foreign-made fireworks. And ‘laws’ prohibiting even the use of those. So what are we to celebrate?
Is America still worth celebrating? And to what (or whom) should we pledge ourselves?
The founders of this nation, as well as the first several generations of her citizens, understood that we ought never to pledge loyalty to a person. Long before Che and Fidel, Stalin and Mao, and many others who brought nothing but misery and death in the name of ‘freedom,’ our fathers clearly recognized the danger which attends absolute power in the hands of an individual (such as King George) or in the hands of a tiny ruling elite. They had seen it for centuries as it repeatedly decimated Europe.
They were determined to do a new thing. To establish a nation of Self-Governing citizens.
But not in the likeness of the mob rule of democracy, for they also understood the terrible dangers such a system holds for any who are outside the majority. They recognized the inherent Right of human beings, even those in the minority, to be unmolested by the mob, in their life, their liberty, and their property.
Let us take a moment here to address the inevitable argument that will be raised- “What about the slaves? What about women’s right to vote? The founders never really believed in equality for all. Blah, Blah, Blah.” I respond only so far as to say- If you have not yet reached the level of maturity to see what a ridiculous and spurious claim it is to judge an 18th century man by 21sr century standards, then I shall not waste time debating you on the matter. Go away and revel in your ignorance-laden sense of self righteousness.
Now, let’s return to the beginnings of our Republic. The founders did not want a king. Or an emperor. Nor did they want a democracy. They wanted a nation ruled by men of integrity. And they wanted every one of those men (of integrity) to have a voice.
So they did a new thing. They established a Republic. And they built this new thing on a very OLD foundation. A foundation pre-dating the monarchies of Europe. Even pre-dating the kings of ancient Palestine.
The foundation was a simple principle: That all men can know God. And, knowing Him, they have enough knowledge to handle the affairs of their own lives. Therefore, they ought not to be oppressed by government, but ought to be left alone. Provided, of course, that they themselves have not oppressed anyone.
These men would, from time to time, send elected representatives to the seat of government. Those representatives would be from among the general populace. Planters, architects, merchants, clerks and ditch-diggers. They would attend to the very limited, clearly defined duties given them. Then they’d come home and go back to their ‘real’ jobs. It was a system so simple, it was genius! So, what happened? How did we get in the shape we’re in today?
Fast forward 200 years and we can see some of the areas where we’ve strayed. We have, for the past couple of generations, given way to the professional politician. Men who sell their souls to Satan, and their votes to the highest bidder. They use the ignorance of the masses, and the greed of the special interests, to entrench themselves in power. Knowing, but not caring, that they are destroying the very nation we all live in. How did that happen?
Simple. We’ve become a nation of unthankful, ill-educated, over-fed, lazy, gluttons. We’ve taken security and prosperity for granted because we didn’t have to earn them. We’ve left God behind. Or evicted Him from our lives altogether. We’ve forgotten how to blush. And how to repent. If it were not so, we’d never have tolerated our corrupt oppressive government to the point we have.
American society seems to be getting worse by the day. Morality is sinking. And crime is exploding in our cities. And the response from a godless government is to promote the immorality, even as it pushes the boot of tyranny onto the throat of the citizens, all in the name of fighting crime. Is it any wonder that a people like this would eventually suffer? (For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness. Romans 1:18)
There are only two outcomes for a nation such as ours. One is repentance. By millions of individuals, and the nation collectively. (If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2Chronicles 7:14)
The other alternative, is more of what we’ve endured these past years. And worse.
So… what should we be celebrating today? The fact that we still have enough freedom to indulge in immorality? Of course not! The fact that we still have, even in the midst of a slow collapse, a high enough standard of living to indulge in excess? Certainly not!
Let us take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices of the men who risked everything; often forfeiting their homes, their fortunes, even their lives, in order to establish a nation of self governing citizens.
And let’s take time to be thankful to God. For He has truly blessed us far beyond what we deserve. In security; in comfort; in prosperity. And above all, in His mercy. He still hears. He’s still willing to forgive and restore this once-great nation. He’s listening… do we, as a people have anything to say to Him?
Smite us o Lord. Smite America that you are not a hypocrite.
How dare you? If you take God’s word seriously, then you must take seriously that He would have spared S&G if there had been even 10 righteous in them. There are far more than ten righteous in every city of America! I believe He would have mercy if we could only find one; He alone knows how many more might come form a single faithful witness.

possee- I’ve been watching the protests there for the past couple of days (following mostly on the internet whenever I get a few minutes to stop the truck) and it amazes me! If half that many people turned out in America, we could make big changes in our government immediately.
And, what’s interesting about it, is that most of the protesters I’ve seen interviewed, don’t want sharia law. Nor do they want rampant immorality like the west has. They want something in the middle. It looks like they are saying (in so many words) that they just want to be left alone. From the meddling of America and the west, AND from the radicals in the muslim brotherhood.
The majority hate the brotherhood most of all. And Egypt doesn’t have a recent history of hating the west. Mubarak, bad as he may have been, had the country on fairly good terms with most countries.
Of course, they’re protesting Obama as well as the brotherhood. They want the CIA, the State Dept and this administration to quit jacking with their internal business, too. And I don’t blame them.
Many of the people in Egypt seem to want a society where a man’s conscience guides him and he can pursue his life without being under somebody’s boot. That sounds remarkably like the founders of our nation. If only we’d go back to that way of thinking…

When my daffy neighbor, Bubba, told me that, I went into defensive mode. I turned the irrigation system on and soaked the entire pasture. Next I moved all the lawn sprinklers to the back yard and wet it down to the point it’s spongy to walk on. I put a metal roof on the house a few years ago, partly in response to his pyrotechnic displays. So far, it’s paid off handsomely.
Bubba is a real nice guy. And he’d give you the shirt off his back. Only trouble is, the independence he celebrates is, generally speaking, from rational thinking.
Now, with the sprinklers moved to the front yard, and a dozen strategically placed buckets of sand, I felt confident enough to stand out front and watch his yearly display. He is my neighbor after all. And besides, apart from the big red trucks with flashing lights, and the insurance adjusters, there’s usually some pretty good entertainment involved. So, there I stood, one hand tensed on the outside faucet, the other gripping my cell phone with the fire department on speed dial…
The first half hour was uneventful. Bubba and his whole family seemed to be enjoying the show. Then, he and BJ (Bubba Jr) decided their store bought rockets weren’t going high enough. Bubba said they’d get much more altitude by taping on some of BJ’s model rocket engines. BJ suggested adding a few sparklers to the nose cones to enhance the luminosity.

BJ responded, ‘Great idea, Pop! And let’s put on some sparklers to make ’em more lighty.’
So they did.
The first launch was(mostly) successful. The unbalanced weight of the added engines made it a bit wobbly, but it went so high, it burned out all the embers long before crashing in the back pasture. It’s so wet back there now, even the cows are wearing galoshes, so I didn’t worry about it.
The next launch wasn’t quite so good. In fact, it was a disaster. But it’s also when the real entertainment started.
Bubba, using at least a yard and a half of duct tape, added three rocket engines to the firework. He’d jabbed the first of three glowing sparklers into a wad of tape on the nose, when he dropped one of them. It landed right on his foot, burning a neat hole through his canvas shoe and into his foot. He yelped and spun around, kicking the rocket over. Next he dropped the last of the sizzling rods. Right next to the engines!
It sizzled a second, then took off like a… oh yeah, like a ROCKET! It zoomed across the yard, hit a bump and went straight into the open window of his wife’s new car! (She’d always wanted a convertible.)
I was thinking to myself, this will be really cool if it comes out the other window. Only trouble was, the other window was rolled up! The rocket, with one sparkler spritzing and glowing on the nose and the red-hot engine exhaust flaring out the bottom, ricocheted around inside the car as Bubba raced over. His stride was about five feet on his good foot and 3 feet on the burned one, so he kept having to correct to keep from going in a big circle.
His wife was screaming by the time he yanked the door open and dived in! For a full minute, he chased the rocket around inside the car. It looked like a giant glowing bumble bee on steroids! Finally, it escaped, having burned a huge hole in the clear plastic rear window.
The rocket hit the pavement and skidded (almost in a straight line) down the county road. It went a good half mile before finally burning out. Bubba, his wife hot on his heels, passed it at the quarter mile mark…
That made my day.

LAS VEGAS (CN) – Henderson police arrested a family for refusing to let officers use their homes as lookouts for a domestic violence investigation of their neighbors, the family claims in court.
Anthony Mitchell and his parents Michael and Linda Mitchell sued the City of Henderson, its Police Chief Jutta Chambers, Officers Garret Poiner, Ronald Feola, Ramona Walls, Angela Walker, and Christopher Worley, and City of North Las Vegas and its Police Chief Joseph Chronister, in Federal Court.
Henderson, pop. 257,000, is a suburb of Las Vegas.
The Mitchell family’s claim includes Third Amendment violations, a rare claim in the United States. The Third Amendment prohibits quartering soldiers in citizens’ homes in times of peace without the consent of the owner.
“On the morning of July 10th, 2011, officers from the Henderson Police Department responded to a domestic violence call at a neighbor’s residence,” the Mitchells say in the complaint.
It continues: “At 10:45 a.m. defendant Officer Christopher Worley (HPD) contacted plaintiff Anthony Mitchell via his telephone. Worley told plaintiff that police needed to occupy his home in order to gain a ‘tactical advantage’ against the occupant of the neighboring house. Anthony Mitchell told the officer that he did not want to become involved and that he did not want police to enter his residence. Although Worley continued to insist that plaintiff should leave his residence, plaintiff clearly explained that he did not intend to leave his home or to allow police to occupy his home. Worley then ended the phone call.
Mitchell claims that defendant officers, including Cawthorn and Worley and Sgt. Michael Waller then “conspired among themselves to force Anthony Mitchell out of his residence and to occupy his home for their own use.” (Waller is identified as a defendant in the body of the complaint, but not in the heading of it.)
The complaint continues: “Defendant Officer David Cawthorn outlined the defendants’ plan in his official report: ‘It was determined to move to 367 Evening Side and attempt to contact Mitchell. If Mitchell answered the door he would be asked to leave. If he refused to leave he would be arrested for Obstructing a Police Officer. If Mitchell refused to answer the door, force entry would be made and Mitchell would be arrested.'”
At a few minutes before noon, at least five defendant officers “arrayed themselves in front of plaintiff Anthony Mitchell’s house and prepared to execute their plan,” the complaint states.
It continues: “The officers banged forcefully on the door and loudly commanded Anthony Mitchell to open the door to his residence.
“Surprised and perturbed, plaintiff Anthony Mitchell immediately called his mother (plaintiff Linda Mitchell) on the phone, exclaiming to her that the police were beating on his front door.
“Seconds later, officers, including Officer Rockwell, smashed open plaintiff Anthony Mitchell’s front door with a metal ram as plaintiff stood in his living room.
“As plaintiff Anthony Mitchell stood in shock, the officers aimed their weapons at Anthony Mitchell and shouted obscenities at him and ordered him to lie down on the floor.
“Fearing for his life, plaintiff Anthony Mitchell dropped his phone and prostrated himself onto the floor of his living room, covering his face and hands.
“Addressing plaintiff as ‘asshole’, officers, including Officer Snyder, shouted conflicting orders at Anthony Mitchell, commanding him to both shut off his phone, which was on the floor in front of his head, and simultaneously commanding him to ‘crawl’ toward the officers.
“Confused and terrified, plaintiff Anthony Mitchell remained curled on the floor of his living room, with his hands over his face, and made no movement.
“Although plaintiff Anthony Mitchell was lying motionless on the ground and posed no threat, officers, including Officer David Cawthorn, then fired multiple ‘pepperball’ rounds at plaintiff as he lay defenseless on the floor of his living room. Anthony Mitchell was struck at least three times by shots fired from close range, injuring him and causing him severe pain.” (Parentheses in complaint.)
Officers then arrested him for obstructing a police officer, searched the house and moved furniture without his permission and set up a place in his home for a lookout, Mitchell says in the complaint.
He says they also hurt his pet dog for no reason whatsoever: “Plaintiff Anthony Mitchell’s pet, a female dog named ‘Sam,’ was cowering in the corner when officers smashed through the front door. Although the terrified animal posed no threat to officers, they gratuitously shot it with one or more pepperball rounds. The panicked animal howled in fear and pain and fled from the residence. Sam was subsequently left trapped outside in a fenced alcove without access to water, food, or shelter from the sun for much of the day, while temperatures outside soared to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.”
Anthony and his parents live in separate houses, close to one another on the same street. He claims that police treated his parents the same way.
“Meanwhile, starting at approximately 10:45 a.m., police officers entered the back yard of plaintiffs Michael Mitchell and Linda Mitchell’s residence at 362 Eveningside Avenue. The officers asked plaintiff Michael Mitchell if he would be willing to vacate his residence and accompany them to their ‘command center’ under the guise that the officers wanted Michael Mitchell’s assistance in negotiating the surrender of the neighboring suspect at 363 Eveningside Avenue. Plaintiff Michael Mitchell reluctantly agreed to follow the officers from his back yard to the HPD command center, which was approximately one quarter mile away,” the complaint states.
“When plaintiff Michael Mitchell arrived at the HPD command center, he was informed that the suspect was ‘not taking any calls’ and that plaintiff Michael Mitchell would not be permitted to call the suspect neighbor from his own phone. At that time, Mr. Mitchell realized that the request to accompany officers to the HPD command center was a tactic to remove him from his house. He waited approximately ten minutes at the HPD command center and was told he could not return to his home.
“Plaintiff Michael Mitchell then left HPD command center and walked down Mauve Street toward the exit of the neighborhood. After walking for less than five minutes, an HPD car pulled up next to him. He was told that his wife, Linda Mitchell, had ‘left the house’ and would meet him at the HPD command center. Michael Mitchell then walked back up Mauve Street to the HPD command center. He called his son, James Mitchell, to pick him up at the HPD command center. When plaintiff Michael Mitchell attempted to leave the HPD command center to meet James, he was arrested, handcuffed and placed in the back of a marked police car.
“Officers had no reasonable grounds to detain plaintiff Michael Mitchell, nor probable
cause to suspect him of committing any crime.
“At approximately 1:45 p.m., a group of officers entered the backyard of plaintiffs Michael Mitchell and Linda Mitchell’s residence at 362 Eveningside Avenue. They banged on the back door of the house and demanded that plaintiff Linda Mitchell open the door.
“Plaintiff Linda Mitchell complied and opened the door to her home. When she told officers that they could not enter her home without a warrant, the officers ignored her. One officer, defendant Doe 1, seized her by the arm, and other officers entered her home without permission.
“Defendant Doe 1 then forcibly pulled plaintiff Linda Mitchell out of her house.
“Another unidentified officer, defendant Doe 2, then seized plaintiff Linda Mitchell’s purse and began rummaging through it, without permission, consent, or a warrant.
“Defendant Doe 1 then escorted Linda Mitchell at a brisk pace through her yard and
up the hill toward the ‘Command Post’ while maintaining a firm grip on her upper arm. Plaintiff Linda Mitchell is physically frail and had difficulty breathing due to the heat and the swift pace. However, Doe 1 ignored her pleas to be released or to at least slow down, and refused to provide any explanation for why she was being treated in such a manner.
“In the meantime, the officers searched and occupied plaintiffs Michael Mitchell and
Linda Mitchell’s house. When plaintiff Linda Mitchell returned to her home, the cabinets and closet doors throughout the house had been left open and their contents moved about. Water had been consumed from their water dispenser. Even the refrigerator door had been left ajar and mustard and mayonnaise had been left on their kitchen floor.”
Police took Anthony and Michael Mitchell to jail and booked them for obstructing an officer. They were jailed for at least nine hours before they bailed out, they say in the complaint. All criminals charged were dismissed with prejudice. They claim the defendants filed the baseless criminal charges “to provide cover for defendants’ wrongful actions, to frustrate and impede plaintiffs’ ability to seek relief for those actions, and to further intimidate and retaliate against plaintiffs.”
None of the officers were ever subjected to official discipline or even inquiry, the complaint states.
The Mitchells seek punitive damages for violations of the third, fourth and 14th Amendments, assault and battery, conspiracy, defamation, abuse of process, malicious prosecution, negligence and emotional distress.

Those we’re a different breed of American in a different time. Even though their government was turning tyrannical it was difficult to see. AND the government at that time was trying to survive external enemies and thus left its citizens more or less alone.
Today, Americans (ones that care) are in a quandary. Their being forced to fight THEIR tyrannical government,,, far more difficult than fighting a foreign tyranny AND to fight a majority of other citizens whom really don’t care. Add to that the government is no longer worried about real external threats and can now turn its focus on its citizens by using false external threats.
Historically,,, it doesn’t look good for the US government or its citizens. Most world powers in the past either self destructed or just faded away.
Living on past accomplishments or false threats will not long hold a nation together.
Been a while once again since I posted. As O write I must admit I am sometimes very confused and conflicted as an American citizen living in Canada. As far as what America began as and what America has become makes me very upset due to the fact we the people have allowed it to happen. Critical thinking rugged individualism and hard work have been replaced by mass brain washing, go with the flow and the generation of entitlement. In all fairness to those who remain in a sleepy, dumbed down, apathetic mindset the process has been gradual and quite succesful. I still think that the major shift took place after WW2 when we became convinced we could not make it or at least keep up with the Jones’s without 2 incomes. Not saying mom’s can’t work thats a whole other can of worms. However when we made the shift of becoming a wasteful nation of greed and mass consumerism the downhill spiral increased it’s speed very rapidly. Now we have reached that golden age of mass information and technology. Also side note please understand when I make these statements I include another country I love and live in Canada as they basically share the same type attitudes only with a much smaller population. Now the turning point we have arrived at now, which is prophisied in the book of truth, the Bible. Question? Where do we go from here? What do we do from here? We do know many evil things are taking place and amping up to a crescendo sometime probably in the not too distant future although I will not guess a specific month or day. Things to consider, do we need a violent revolution to retake our God given rights? Are we going to be baited into it by the sly planning of the elite? I leave you with this. These things are going to happen but it is not going to be a thing of glamor. Many of us will die for our beliefs. Until that day I plan to exercise the rights I have and which we are so blessed to have. Live each day to the fullest and thank the God who gave them to us every day. Thank you God for another day and I pray for the wisdom to do the right things and stay within your will. When the day does come to fight I know you will be with me. Love the Rambo saying Live for nothing or die for something, because in reality in the end it will come down to that. And please note it is not wrong as a Christian to fight nor to follow an evil regime. To all those brain washed clergy FEMA clergy response team go and read your bibles.

This is a little off-topic but I’m about to take on some more work (above and beyond my normal load) and will be out for a while…
A lot of common folk don’t realize how the data tracking works. You MUST know data stores are compromised. The Snowden deal is scary doubly because of this. For instance, Mafia, India, China and others all have access to all the info (most probably). Its common to find Mafia has compromized an Internet backbone router and can access ALL traffic going through.
You may not realize the effect of offshoring but basically all corporate and government data has been compromised. E.g. one friend told me while he was working for a major Internet backbone company they managed the equipment for the NSA. They were supposed to hire only Americans to work on it but in fact even offshore workers living in another country had top level permission to the databse. Basically, he never found anywhere on the Internet or otherwise to report it.
So, some of you might OK the Spy-on-the-Citizens under the belief it will all be used for good; but, in fact their are double agents, comprimised systems, and more; the data is not safe and is not only used for good.
