Moron Gun Control: Women and Children First

Do you LOVE America?

I will make mere youths their officials; children will rule over them.

    – Isaiah 3:4

Youths oppress my people, women rule over them…

     – Isaiah 3:12

Another shooting. They always appear to unveil in similar ways; like secret messages. First there is some sort of an active drill, either scheduled or ongoing, and then shots are fired, followed by eyewitness accounts of more than one shooter. Soon, the YouTube videos of those reporting on multiple attackers are scrubbed from the internet:

When shots were fired I saw him [right] after the fact, so, and the shots were coming from the other part of the building so there definitely had to be at least two shooters involved.

……..Additionally, it was reported by the father of a student who attends the school thatboth a fire drill and an active shooter drill were scheduled for Wednesday.

Within hours, the murderer is reported to be extremely troubled, if not insane, and likely on psychotropic drugs, as several people claim they all “saw it coming”, or, in some instances, saying they are completely surprised that the person they knew could massacre so many.

Additionally, prophetic postings placed prior on social media by the shooter are revealed and, sadly, they are rarely discovered until too late. Most commonly, of course, an AR-type or similar semi-automatic will have been used with the necessary large-capacity magazines. It is all quite convenient because both are highly coveted targets in the sites of politicians and globalists convening behind armed security on Capitol Hill or at the United Nations.

Finally, like the sun rising after a long dark night, the political establishment crows like over-caffeinated roosters about “doing something” so “it never happens again”.

    Nothing new under the sun.

But what about “The Patriot Act”, the NSA, and that brand new data center in Utah? I thought our heroes we’re constantly monitoring in order to stop these events? In the case of the Parkland shooting what about eyewitness reports of someone firing rounds in the school while wearing body armor, helmet and mask? What are these national security agents doing every day anyway? Playing Angry Birds and Subway Surfers? Those slackers make love-sick FBI sweethearts Peter Strzok and Lisa Page look like Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

    I want my money back.

Also, what happens to the mass causality survivors who claim to have seen multiple shooters? Well, after their cell phones are permanently confiscated by the authorities, and within weeks after their videos disappear from the internet, they start dying in freak ways and in numbers that defy normal actuarial tables. But don’t worry, the online fact-checker Snopes says it’s all just “great paranoia”.

In spite of any slight variances from the common patterns of mass shootings, the outcome is always predictable:  It’s getting late in the game and they want your guns. Who knew politicians could react so fast? But, then again, it’s for the children.

Regardless, the images linger and it’s hard to disremember certain elements of surreality that seemed, shall we say, spurious. In the Parkland shooting, specifically, both reporters and those being interviewed were one minute smiling and then the next feigning sadness and concern. It was strange.

Nevertheless, the politicians take action after every mass shooting and tell us “it’s for our own good”.

In the aftermath of the Sandyhook shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, President Obama issued 23 executive actions and proposed 19 legislative actions. After the Virginia Tech shooting new rules were passed that allowed the Social Security Administration to provide information to the gun background check system of people with “mental disabilities”. After Vegas and Parkland, it was bump-stocks. Now, most recently at the time of this writing, it appears that even President Trump has “stunned lawmakers” with his “seeming embrace of gun control measures”.

    Do you see a pattern?

To understand the borg mind, you must first understand the politicians and powerbrokers are fully aware of what they are doing. But, as far as the liberal snowflakes are concerned, they ALWAYS believe what they WISH to be true; facts be damned. Worse than that, they will not let go of what they wish were true even after they long cross the rubicon into devastating lunacy. By then, it becomes like a Chinese finger trap; the more you challenge their beliefs, the more they hold on.

Here are 10 truths the gun control morons hold to be self-evident:

    1.) The Gun is Guilty

How can some people assign culpability to a mere tool you ask? It’s a fair question. Those who hate guns believe evil should be confronted through the elimination of its occasional means; a device, or gadget. This is not overly unlike someone dieting to lose weight by removing the silverware from their kitchen.

Actually, it is in fact worse. To protect the children from bodily harm, Big Mother desires to remove the allegorical silverware from the homes of metaphorical healthy eaters.

    That’s insane.

From an ideological perspective, could that faulty logic eliminate profanity by stealing the adult books from those who don’t curse? Or prevent procrastination by purloining people’s calendars and clocks? Indeed, just as instruments to measure time illustrate the denotation and solution for procrastination and tardiness, so do guns, simultaneously, demonstrate the denotation and solution for evil.

Some women, some children, and most liberals, can’t seem to identify evil through the fog of their good intentions. This explains why they fail to see the irony when they call for people with guns to come save them from people with guns. Except, for whatever reason, they profess to favor those traveling from a distance away to save them as opposed to someone in their immediate proximity.

Indeed, why do gun control advocates prefer those with badges, 20 minutes away, over those with a permit who could save their lives, and the lives of others, in that very moment?

Perhaps, because logic is not a strong suit in the minds of some women, some children, and most liberals.

    2.) Criminals Obey Laws

Wrong. In every mass shooting event in recent years, there were laws on the books designed to prevent the murder and mayhem. Think about that. Criminals care nothing for laws; neither will they be inhibited by them. If laws eliminated all access to acquiring guns legally, it would not stop criminals from getting them any more than the war on drugs terminated illegal drug use in America. Naturally, laws are only as effective as their enforcement; which, in the case of the Parkland shooting and all others, was far less than stellar to say the least; let alone prohibitive. Sure, seat belt laws may save the lives of compliant citizens in car accidents, but no law can prevent deliberate, calculated murder. Evil finds a way.

3.) Citizens and Criminals are Synonymous

You’ve likely heard the saying: “The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” Yet, in the eyes of the gun control advocates, there is no difference between the two. This explains why an effort has been undertaken nationwide to criminalize the National Rifle Association (NRA) and its members, for the crimes of one crazy child from Parkland, Florida. For now, though, this profound miscalculation by the Political Left has backfired. Pardon the pun.

    4.) Rights Derive from Emotions

Actually, they don’t. Why must law-abiding citizens yield to the emotionalism of traumatized children, politicized law enforcement officers, and liberal snowflakes?  It seems they expect upright citizens to obey new rules designed to infringe upon the unalienable rights of others.  Why not just say “no” and ignore them?

Pure, unbridled emotionalism, like what was witnessed during the CNN Townhall rally after the Parkland shooting, was entirely unrelated to the fundamental rights of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves.

Notwithstanding, the First Amendment allowed the CNN rally to occur.

Fortunately, the United States was founded upon natural, inalienable rights and constitutional law, instead of emotional reactions to public displays of sentimentality and melodrama; as demonstrated by vocal gun-grabbers on cable television.

5.) Consequential Correlating Factors are Irrelevant

Some women, certain children, corrupt Broward county sheriffs, and most liberal snowflakes today willfully employ convenient tunnel-vision in order to unjustifiably convict firearms for murder. In so doing, they maliciously downplay any other contributing factors behind every mass shooting. These would include mental illness, the side-effects of psychotropic drugslaw enforcement failuresbullying, and family neglect.

But more than that, what about the supplemental influences from violent Hollywood movies and video games? Think about that. Why do companies pay millions of dollars to entertainers and athletes to endorse their products? Because advertising works. But now we are expected to believe that violence in movies and video games cause no adverse effects on children?

Why are all of these considerations summarily dismissed by the Political Left in the national conversation on guns? Why is the blame always solely placed onto the gadget by those favoring gun control? Why do they push for more laws when the FBI and local law enforcement agencies appear completely helpless to prevent the mass shootings from occurring in the first place?

    Good questions.

6.) Gun Free Zones are Safe

The Political Left believes in the infallibility of gun free zones so much, they now hope to take the program national. Unsurprisingly, the facts show gun free zones not safe. Quite the contrary. According to the Crime Prevention Research Center, gun free zones have been targeted in 98% of all mass shootings since 1950.

This, in spite of politicians legislating to keep the children safe:

Former Vice President Joe Biden, a Democrat, introduced the Gun-Free School Zones Act (GFSZA) to the U.S. Senate in 1990, and it was signed into law by then-President George H.W. Bush, a Republican. The act was clearly proposed with the intent to prevent mass shootings at such precious areas as schools. But the act, as the statistic proves, did not result in the desired outcome.

Thanks for nothing, Joe and George. Again, I want my money back.

Evidently gun control doesn’t work but now the politicians have it all figured out? No thanks. I’ll pass. I’d rather put my faith in Santa Claus to bring me presents this Christmas, Robert Mueller to deliver justice to the highest offices of American Government, or Bill Clinton and his best friend, Jeffrey Epstein, to take our local girl scout troupe on a field trip to the Virgin Islands.

7.) Defense is Never a Good Offense

Those advocating for escalating gun control measures first mandate gun free zones, then, after the carnage, they double-down by fighting against the rights of trained teachers protecting themselves, and their students, from being sitting ducks.

Again, as stated heretofore, why do the gun control advocates favor those with badges 20 minutes away over someone with a permit who could save their lives, and the lives of others, in the moment?

Paradoxically, gun control advocates, gush over new laws to screen out potential shooters, yet they overwhelmingly distrust the laws designed to screen law-abiding concealed-carry permitholders?

Yet we are to believe it is the NRA who has blood on their hands? PUH-leese. Do these people think law-abiding citizens who value lifeliberty, and the pursuit of happiness are stupid?

8.) First Responders Are Never Late and Always Competent

See # 7 above. How many lives were lost in accordance to these false premises by so many “well-intentioned” women, children, liberal snowflakes, and bumbling law enforcement cowards?

Before answering, you may need to grab your calculator.

It seems, within the insane hive-mind of the Collective Left, only some lives matter.

9.) Victimized Teenagers are Superb Societal Strategists

In the aftermath of the Parkland shooting, the Clinton News Network (CNN) Devolved Into A North Korean Kangaroo Court Peddling Gun Confiscation. During that embarrassing event, the children, and their handlers, shouted down anyone who sought to challenge their faulty premises. They did so because the handlers, like overbearing and manipulative mothers, told the children not to tolerate dissent because they were the survivors of a terrible massacre and their “March for Our Lives” movement was not political. No, this movement is not political even though they held a February rally at the Florida Statehouse in Tallahassee on their way to march on Washington DC later this month.

It really is amazing. Just a few short weeks ago, America’s teens were suffering from purposely consuming laundry detergent. Now, within a matter of days, they are politically organized in ways that make Martin Luther King, Jr. look like a piker in comparison.

Regarding the CNN Townhall rally, I read a blog comment that said “CNN treated those kids the way Bill Clinton treated Monica Lewinsky.” Someday, these children might realize how they were played like an aspiring Hollywood starlet in Harvey Weinstein’s hotel suite.

    10.) Government is Good

And now, the grandest, most astonishing, erroneous, supposition of all: Militias are so yesteryear.

In the days following the Parkland Florida shooting, Jim Quinn, the administrator of, commented on a correlating thread there:

This week’s gun control argument in a nutshell: because government failed at every level, you need to have your rights curtailed…by the government that just failed at every level.

Indeed, what a great summary. One of the lies ceaselessly promulgated by the Radical Left is that governments are always good. Unfortunately, federal employees, welfare recipients, some survivors of mass casualty events, certain women and children, as well as politicians, pundits, and voters on both sides of the political aisle, appear to have zero immunity against that false assumption.

    What short memories they have:

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (1918 – 2008) was a political dissident and critic of communism. Like millions throughout history, he suffered under a government established forced-labor camp system; the Soviet gulags. Regarding that experience, he wrote:

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.

― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, “The Gulag Archipelago 1918-1956”.

It could never happen again, right? Guess not, according to the morons who believe history never repeats.

Liberals are like overprotective mothers; they control and suffocate in the name of love. Yet, their oppressive rules smell like grandma’s house did when you caught a whiff of aging, diseased flesh beneath the perfume.

It’s like when your girlfriend first told you she didn’t like your shirt and maybe you shouldn’t hang out with your friends so much. Or how your rich friend’s Mom never allowed you to enter into her perfect parlor where she kept all of her delicate decor and fine furnishings.

It was Ayn Rand who once described Man as viewing himself in relation to Nature as Woman views herself in relation to Man. In primitive societies, this is why men turned sticks into bows and arrows while women managed the household. It’s why men have hunted, fished, farmed, invented, and innovated, from the time he first crushed grapes. By and large, through the ages, men have faced the world logically, and practically, with little use for feelings.

As a matter of fact, liberals may even tell you it is for these very reasons why young boys kill. It would make for a beneficial discussion if the deceitfully duplicitous liberal charlatans stopped blaming the gun while ignoring all other contributing factors.

The Radical Left insincerely manipulates the national discussion on guns all the while knowing the great, big, feminine hive-mind views the world viscerally; and is, thus, easily influenced by emotions. This also explains why the Political Left constantly nurtures an overwhelming sense of dissatisfaction that circles in their heads like rabid squirrels. No wonder. It’s because feelings are not logical and emotions never fix anything. On the contrary, pandemic hysteria makes circumstances worse.

Truly, in America’s past, the Political Right leaned more masculine and the Political Left more feminine. It’s why Republicans tended to concern themselves with a strong foreign policy and national defense, whereas the predominant legislative initiatives by the Democrats were more domestic in nature. Back then, even though the parties vociferously disagreed, the marriage still maintained a sense of order. But that was back during a time when school shootings were near non-existent.

In the Strange New World, the dynamic has changed. Mom now runs the show and Dad has become her stepin-fetchit. And the kids? They take selfies while staging “non-political” marches to their state and national capital houses because they value their own reflections more than effective gun solutions that would actually work.

But they can’t be blamed. The children are misguided because they’ve been misled. Their collective fear and compassion has become gullibility. Skepticism of the facts is the right modus operandi during these times. And open debate is a good thing. Except in the minds of pussy-hat wearing liberals, feminists, inept law-enforcement agents, eager politicians, and confused children; all of whom lack tolerancecommon sensereason, and accountability.

In closing, I want to most tenderly address any reader who disagrees with either the underlying premises or expressed content in this essay. Please know, in accordance to the United States Constitution, and the spirit in which it was originally written, I will respect your right to believe whatever you desire along with your privilege to state your opinions in the public square. At the same time, however, I will very courteously say this once; and only once:

    Don’t tread on me.

      1. Attention Liberal, democrat, GOVERNMENT MORONS
Can take em from my cold dead hands

        • I have spent much of the day comforting my S&W Air light. It’s been feeling a bit neglected lately as I’m starting to pay more attention to my Brownings, more firepower. I’m not sure what to do, the voices are telling me to clean my Colt AR. I;m so confused; perhaps I can get a Gov grant to study the issue?

          • We need moron control NOW! Morons are the biggest problem we face! Morons threaten our country and our rights and our well being and happiness 100000000X more than anything else! I call for immediate sterilization of morons! That should get rid of 85% of the population and then the non morons can be free and live in harmony for another 1000 years or so! TELL ORANGE JULIUS TO STERILIZE ALL MORONS! Maybe I can start the “SMA” sterilize morons association…. 🙂

            • Or let the morons turn this place into “idiocracy” and in 100 years be a hell on earth. Try and imagine…. 100 years of moron breeding… moron govt. ….water for the masses of morons …. moron wars…. feeding the billions of morons…. toxic moron waste…. moronic nuclear power plants…. moronic overfishing…. moronic depletion of resources…. moron diseases…. moron morals…. moron stewardship… moron crimes…. iron fisted moron controls… no weapons for anyone (except moron police)…

              • GENIUS

We will be taken over by artificial intell. by then.
I short the human race will be gone.

              • I have a copy of idiocracy. I asked a friend of mine, “Have you seen that movie, Idiocracy?” He told me, “that isn’t a movie, it’s a documentary.”
He is right. It isn’t going to be in 500 years or 100 years. It is here. Libtards are the zombie Apocalypse.

              • Genius, I wholly agree. I have only one question: What makes you think it will take 100 years? In the movie Idiocracy, the moronic zeitgeist was painfully apparent to Joe after 500 years, but I am seeing it NOW, and it has been less than 13 years since that movie came out.

              • Genius: Morons can be shipped to the middle east to fight endless battles. We need cannon fodder as these countries constantly find something to fight over.

                • Maybe send them to africa? They can be farmers! But the 70 IQ africans will still outsmart them…

              • Genius, ‘idiocracy’ was reality before it was a movie, LOL.

That’s why we are in this mess!! they have successfully divided us and now they are on their way to disarm us– BOTH F… PARTIES!!!!

all this mess started with Bush and Cheney!!! REMEMBER””??!!! YOU PEOPLE HAVE EXTREMELY SHORT MEMORY SPANS!!!

          • Apparently your comprehension of who exactly is dancing in the blood of these kids chanting for gun control, i see liberal morons,,, period

          • Anon..You are right .

            • AND THE PAYBACK BEGINS!!! 😀

Georgia lawmakers voted to nix a tax benefit for Atlanta-based Delta as part of a broader tax package approved Thursday, following the airline’s decision to sever ties with the National Rifle Association.

The bill — which includes a sweeping income tax cut — cleared the state House on an overwhelming 135-24 vote, after being approved in the state Senate on a 44-10 vote. It now heads to the governor’s desk.

The final version dropped an earlier amendment that would have renewed a jet fuel tax exemption worth $50 million that was taken off the books in 2015.

The rejection of the tax break for now, though, marked a swift rebuke from state lawmakers, who had been weighing the restoration of the benefit until this week. It was originally pitched as an “airline tax break,” rather than one that would only benefit Delta.

But in the wake of the Atlanta-based airline’s decision to end its relationship with the NRA, Cagle, who is running to succeed Deal in November, warned that he would block any legislation that could prove to be beneficial to them.

“I will kill any tax legislation that benefits @Delta unless the company changes its position and fully reinstates its relationship with the @NRA,” Cagle, who heads the Georgia State Senate, tweeted on Monday. “Corporations cannot attack conservatives and expect us not to fight back.”

              (fox news)

              • Genius, it’s refreshing to see a state legislature do something SENSIBLE for a change. And this is in the state where my family and BOL are located. WOOHOO!

                • Yep and watch and see more news like this! These limp wristed rainbow companies are GOING TO PAY! WOOOOOT! Join the boycott revolution!

                  • When they go out of biz the line at the unemployment line will be long, we can call it “the trail of queers” lol.

            • No, Anon is wrong. Look at the photo of the dictators and tell us how many leaned right in their politics.

          • Anon, Look at the dictator photos again and tell us how many leaned right in their politics. Still, the author seems to disparage politicians in general.

          • It started a lot longer ag than that.

        • NOMFIA!!!

      2. 1. let the citizens create viable and practicing militias without any regulation or remark by the government 2. every household in America should possess at least one military grade firearm (think Switzerland)and the homeowner(s)be trained in the usage of same by a recognized firearms safety and training program 3. all ammunition for #’s 1 & 2 to be sold @ the same discounted rate as to the current military. 4. all law enforcement to be converted to police officers sworn to ‘protect and serve’ the public vs. “to uphold the law” (or be fired immediately) 5. there shall be NO gun-free zones whatsoever within the borders of the USA 6. universal carry – concealed or visible – allowed within those same borders 7. all children beginning in middle school to trained in the proper use and maintenance of firearms via a nationwide JROTC program as part of a prerequisite education plan (4 not 3 ‘R’s’ – reading, (w)riting, (a)rithmetic, rifles 8. the death penalty shall be enforced as mandatory nationwide for all capital crimes 9. any legal statement in a court case containing emotional factors to be prohibited/deemed to have no bearing upon the outcome of the criminal case being tried 10. no political office to be held by any individual for longer than 2 terms or 8 years maximum in total for any or all offices held. (and once public service is completed the individual must return to private life/employ.)

        • I’d like one of the old pack howitzers if possible for my household issue, please. It would make me feel better. I’m sure the voices would like it, and after all IT’S FOR THE CHILDREN

          • I want a Dillon mini,
Build a hardened turret around my chimney with flip up deflector plates

            • I want some SAM missles and some of those new russian hypersonic nukes!

        • Great ideas Heartless….think the politicians will pass it?

        • Heartless, great ideas. I live by a set of rules called The Bill Of Rights and nothing else. My rights come from God, NOT some manmade government. They are not negotiable. They’re not even on anyone’s table.

          • I agree TDBh – as you’ve probably noticed, I often set myself up as a fall-guy/point of argument for ya’ll here. I too live by the Bill of Rights and the rest of the Constitution and the other Amendments (albeit a couple have me really wondering – I’ve questioned the 12th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 19th and 23rd… along with some other things in the main document). I’d only argue with you that it is not enough to simply personally live by the Bill of Rights, we must ensure it is applied as written for all citizens. As for the jokes about owning some pretty awesome firepower, I ask, “why the hell not?!?!”. The 2nd Amendment says, “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state…” followed by the latter portion we all know. Anyone know what ‘well regulated’ means – huh, class? Basically that any militia properly organized must be able to stand against the military and/or a tyrannical government. Ain’t going to do that with just pop-guns folks. So? Ya’ll want howitzers, turret chimneys, SAMs? By all means. Just form a properly organized militia and have at it. I see or have no problem with that.

      3. Movies and video games cause people to believe that guns are meant for killing, while the MSM broadcasts 24×7 that the only purpose for a gun is to kill as many people as possible? In the last movie I watched the bad guy was stopped by a good guy with a gun. It’s Hollywood – it’s fake. Much like the “news” these days.
Arming teachers to defend children is a good thing? Apparently nobody has met the liberal morons that are responsible for 90% of public education. How about we take the government propagandists out of our education systems?
        Just my opinion.

        • My guns are being used to try to control the hog population which has been causing lots of damage. So far none of them have captured of forced anyone to commit a crime. When I woke up this morning, 9 out of the 10 voices in my head told me to stay home and clean my guns. Just joking folks, don’t report me. That commandment ” Thou Shalt Not Kill ” is always there.

      4. There is so much about this shooting that troubles me. One teacher was very close to a shooter who was dressed in protective tactical gear. She said her first thought was “what is the police doing here”. Then there was the cowardly sheriffs that shivered with fear outside of the school. And then we have Davis Hogg. The gun activist who was a senior at the school?? It has been written that he is from California and graduated from high school a couple of years ago. The fix has been in for several years. The leftist commies know that their revolution cannot succeed with an armed populace. Just like with the Vegas shooting there are zero forthcoming facts and all that we hear is guns bad gun control good.

      5. How about Deuteronomy 25:5-10

Think we should BAND CONDOMS ?

        • Did you see where they are putting serial numbers on condoms now?
No? You must not be rolling them down far enough then. 😛

          • Yes I picked up yours by mistake extra small 🙂

            • LOL, no they were yours, I know because they were fingers cut off of playtex gloves! 😉

          • Seriously, I laughed so hard I woke up the whole house.

“If the people are going to do something, they need to get tough! Go read Marx and Lenin…pol pot… the people need to think of themselves as the salt of the earth and governments as unmitigated evil and so have no fear, should stand up to them and if they go to protests and be brutalized by the police, then they need to go armed to the protest…”

“You can’t make any kind of meaningful change these days without violence. The governments has shown they will use massive violence against their own peoples! So the people outnumber them and they can use MORE VIOLENCE against the government.”

“They have their agenda in place. No one man can change that. I mean, go back and listen to his address. ”

“I think the governments are so totally corrupt and evil that you can’t appeal to their moral conscience– they don’t have one. You can’t appeal to justice– they couldn’t care less.”

“So what are you going to do when you’re faced with governments like that? There’s nothing you can do but kill them!! There’s no other alternative.”

“The people have to realize they’re up against evil! They either submit to it or they overthrow it. There’s no other way.”

        • Just my 2 cents: Retired LEO/D.C.Metro area; MP, VN-era, VFF/EMS:

District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570, was the first Supreme Court case to decide whether the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to keep and bear arms for self-defense. Prior to the Court’s ruling, the Firearms Control Regulations Act of 1975 had restricted District of Columbia residents from owning handguns except for those registered prior to 1975.

But the Court, in District of Columbia v. Heller, struck down the Regulations Act’s ban on handguns as unconstitutional, as well as the Act’s requirement that all firearms — including rifles and shotguns — be kept “unloaded and disassembled or bound by a trigger lock”.

The majority opinion, written by the late Justice Antonin Scalia, is considered an example of constitutional originalism — interpreting the meaning of the U.S. Constitution in accordance with the original intent of our Founders. According to the Court’s ruling:

The Second Amendment protects the individual‘s right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. (Pg. 2–53 of District of Columbia v. Heller)
The “people” to whom the Second Amendment right is accorded are the same “people” who enjoy First and Fourth Amendment protection. In the words of Justice Scalia: “The Constitution was written to be understood by the voters; its words and phrases were used in their normal and ordinary as distinguished from technical meaning.”
The Court’s interpretation is confirmed by:
Analogous arms-bearing rights in state constitutions that preceded and immediately followed the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment’s drafting history reveals three state Second Amendment proposals that unequivocally referred to an individual right to bear arms. (Pg. 28–32 of District of Columbia v. Heller)
Interpretation of the Second Amendment by scholars, courts and legislators, from immediately after its ratification through the late 19th century. (Pg. 32–47)

But the Supreme Court also ruled that the Second Amendment right, like most rights, is not unlimited:

          (1) The right to bear arms is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose. The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms.

          (2) On the matter of “military weapons,” the Supreme Court ruled that:

“We also recognize another important limitation on the right to keep and carry arms. Miller [United States v. Miller, 307 U. S. 174] said . . . that the sorts of weapons protected were those ‘in common use at the time.’ 307 U. S., at 179. We think that limitation is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of ‘dangerous and unusual weapons.’ […] It may be objected that if weapons that are most useful in military service—M-16 rifles and the like—may be banned, then the Second Amendment right is completely detached from the prefatory clause [a “well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State”]. But as we have said, the conception of the militia at the time of the Second Amendment’s ratification was the body of all citizens capable of military service, who would bring the sorts of lawful weapons that they possessed at home to militia duty. It may well be true today that a militia, to be as effective as militias in the 18th century, would require sophisticated arms that are highly unusual in society at large. Indeed, it may be true that no amount of small arms could be useful against modern-day bombers and tanks. But the fact that modern developments have limited the degree of fit between the prefatory clause and the protected right cannot change our interpretation of the right.” (pp. 58-59)

Clearly, SCOTUS’ 2008 ruling understood the 2nd Amendment as a safeguard against a tyrannical government via citizens owning arms to defend themselves. What those arms are depend on the circumstances, specifically, arms technology. In the 18th century, those arms were rifles. But in the 21st century, handguns and rifles are insufficient against the vastly superior armament of the government’s military. And so, in District of Columbia v. Heller, the Supreme Court left open the possibility of individual right to military-grade weapons as a means to defend against a tyrannical government.

          • Thank you Roscoe Rules!!! Exactly my point. Good research. I’d read the same rulings. Your last line about ‘leaving open the possibility..’ is dead-on correct. In reality, it should not merely be a ‘possibility’; for to be truly the 2nd Amendment ensuring the security of our nation, it must be accepted as fact.

            • Thanks Heartless, knowledge is power, had read yours and agree!

Read the “Dick Act” of 1902, IN RE Federal Militias, where arms are ‘military’…..making the restrictions banning ‘machine guns’, I believe in 1934, null & void. Plus, still serving Sen. Oren Hatch, revisited the rights of we PATRIOTS to be armed as well as the Military, sometime in the mid 80’s. See ya’ on the other side……….RR

              • Okay – did a quick read of The Efficiency in Militia Act of 1903 (the Dick Act). If I got it right, it was what gave the ability for the government to control in large part the National Guards. The ‘loophole’ though still existed, “…designated the militia [per Title 10, Section 311] as two groups: the Unorganized Militia, which included all able-bodied men between ages 17 and 45, and the Organized Militia, which included state militia (National Guard) units receiving federal support…” So, it seems that “We the People” can still be part of unorganized militias and NOT be beholded to the Federal government. Right? In some sense I understand it that if the people self-fund/arm, the government really has no say whatsoever.

                • Heartless, correct. I live in SC now, and, we have 3 levels of Militia. Active, which is SC NG on active call-up duty; Inactive, NG in reserve and, ALL Law abiding ‘citizens’ of the State of SC 17 & up, who, by default, ARE members of the ‘unorganized’ militia, subject to call up by the Govn., and answering to the elected MAJ/GEN, Commdr. of the SC ‘Guard’. If one doesn’t wish to serve, they must petition the Govn. in writing to resign. Further, under Title 16, SC Code of Laws, (definitions), dealing w/Weapons/Firearms, long guns, rifles/shotguns, etc., “For the purpose of this TITLE-ARE NOT DEFINED AS WEAPONS”. One may carry any in public, locked and loaded, as long as they are not en route to commit a crime, or “brandish” said firearm, in a disorderly or threatening manner…..AND (since Katrina), no Sheriff, or other LEO shall stop, seize/confiscate any long firearm during a declared STATE OF EMERGENCY, {which only the Govn. can declare}.

If only TPTB would read existing law and abide by it.

              • RR, good to see you back and that post was right on the money.

      7. Bring body bags you will need them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Nah, that costs $. Just pile them up and use them like a sandbag barrier! 🙂 It will also make a point lol.

      8. now we will get Trump and Republican style Gun control. Oh, but its better than Hillary’s form of gun control, like it makes a difference. We live in a 1 party system.

        • +1 Tommy… 🙂

      9. this guy and anyone under 40 that thinks their guns will not be taken from are wrong !

these kids and kids that lived under Obama and are being sold guns are bad and in 10 to 20 years, they’ll be voting and become lawyers and judges and your guns are gone !

the truth is we are in the last years of the usa resembling it in any way how it was founded, it will not be reversed.

it had a good run but even the trump election only delayed the inevitable decline just like rome and more recently England.

      10. Do we even know if a bump stock was used in the Vegas attack for sure or not? I sure haven’t seen any conclusive evidence one was used. Why is everything else surrounding that incident being kept away and closely guarded from the public?
What are they hiding and covering up? Why is there so much info coming out about a possible seconed gunman in the most recent Florida incident they are trying to hide?

Not to be captain obvious but something has seriously gone array here. Anyone who questions these things are being silenced speaks volumes as to what is going on here. They are silencing political opposition while pushing the gun control agenda. Wouldn’t be surprised if these were really false flags being done by the government knowing they are trying to silence people and are definitely looking to disarm and take away the means of defense from the American people. The left is constantly calling for violence against anyone who they don’t like or disagree with while at the same time calling for gun control.

If there was ever a time throughout American history when the public needed to be armed and prepared for defense that time is right now. We cannot allow them to take us the way of the former Soviet Union or the third reich as that is where this could all be heading.

      11. Wow! Thanks for the outstanding read.

      12. Yes when all of the baby boomers are dead or in nursing homes that’s the end of the second and the remaining rights will soon be gone also.

        • Ehhh the morons will reap what they sow. I will be gone (you too) and I have no kids I will be putting through this shit so I have a clear conscious. See you on the other side OG, hopefully not to return here….

        • You are absolutely correct Old Guy. I am actually glad I don’t have grand children.

      13. Don’t tread on me. There is little tread left, sanity is rolling on near bald tires every which way you look.

        • You mean mexican drag slicks?

      14. Doug Lynn, thanks for a great article. The listed 10 imbecilic assumptions of the libtards explain their jumps to confusions on every issue. If every premise is ignorant & insane, there is no chance to derive a rational & logical conclusion.
