Meet The California Special Agents Who Are “Coming For Your Guns”

Do you LOVE America?

    Share

This report was originally published by Tyler Durden at Zero Hedge

An oft-echoed line from the left is “No One Wants To Take Your Guns!” But as Kurt Schlichter notes, this is another classic lie.

In fact, that’s exactly what liberals want to do. How do we know? They tell us when they think we are not looking – and, with more frequency, when we are. It’s fun when they say they don’t want to take your guns, then say you have to give up your ARs. If your opponent is getting wistful about Australia’s gun confiscation, he wants to take your guns.

Let’s get serious. They all want to take your guns. Why? Two reasons. First, it takes power from the citizenry. Liberals love that. Second, gun rights are important to normal Americans because the fact we maintain arms means we are not mere subjects. We are citizens, with the power to defend our freedom. Liberals hate that we have that dignity; taking our guns would humiliate us, and show us who is boss. They want to disarms us not because of the gun crime – name a liberal who wants to really do something about Chicago as opposed to hassling law-abiding normals – but because they hate us and want to see us submit.

Even the Fredocons are getting into the act, which is no surprise since Never Trumpism is always the first step downward to active liberalism. Pseudocon Bret Stephens demanded that America repeal the Second Amendment in the New York Times in October 2017. Fellow puffcon Ross Douthat simpered something similar, and the Captain Stubing of ConservatismBill Kristol, tweeted his concurrence.

And, As The Washington Post reports today, there is a group of California cops whose sole job is just that – confiscating your guns.

A broad, bald Tennessean, Special Agent Sam Richardson runs a six-person team of California Justice Department agents who are coming for your guns, but only if you no longer have the legal authority to own one in this state that has tightened firearm laws in increments over the years.

His division is the only law enforcement agency in the country assigned specifically to track down and take guns from felons, the mentally ill and others whose Second Amendment rights have been curtailed in court because of public safety concerns.

Notably, WaPo points out that these are the people who even the National Rifle Association says should not have guns, a statement echoing in the aftermath of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. The program makes California’s gun-control policy perhaps the most aggressive in the nation. A dozen years ago, the state set up a database that flags law enforcement officials when a registered gun owner is convicted of a felony, deemed mentally ill, has received a restraining order or committed one of about 37 qualifying misdemeanors.

The list is known as the Armed Prohibited Persons System, and while it has failed to prevent mass shootings in San Bernardino, Isla Vista and other cities in the state, it has taken tens of thousands of guns out of the hands of people prohibited from having them.

The work of Richardson’s agents is overwhelming, with the number of guns and “prohibiteds” growing faster than the under-resourced teams can take them off the street. So is the ingenuity of those selling guns, and those making guns, and those owning guns, legally or not.

There are 10,226 people on the list statewide. Of those, about 2,000 are in Los Angeles County, a vast urban desert covered by only Richardson’s team and one other.

“All of this takes time and real resources,” said Xavier Becerra (D), California’s attorney general, who said he is requesting more money for the program this year. “As quickly as we get these guns off the street, others are getting guns.”

Not once has a target fired on them, but WaPo reports that they are threatened — some extreme gun rights websites seek to identify them and expose them online — so all except Richardson, who has appeared publicly, spoke to The Washington Post on the condition that only their last names be used .

“We don’t have black helicopters, but we drive black cars and wear black uniforms,” Richardson said. “It plays into the mind-set of some of these people.”

Last year, state Justice Department agents seized 3,999 pistols and long guns, investigating more than 8,500 people in the process. The list has never dipped beneath 10,000 people since its earliest days.

The timing of this ‘promotional’ piece from WaPo is fascinating, coming just a day after The White House said it is considering the idea of using restraining orders to take firearms away from people considered “dangerous” as part of its response to last week’s massacre at a Florida high school, two people familiar with the matter said.

      1. same as the war on drugs

          • You forgot something, and so did the writer. States Rights to Choose what additional law they choose to make, if any. Cali can’t cross the lines with their trashy idea. So I’d not be too concerned.

            • Considering California has already crossed the line…even going so far as to sending police into Nevada to watch California residents buying ammo and guns in Nevada…

        • Meet the dead traitors.

          • Menzo, anyone who comes to take ANYTHING from me, no matter what it is, will NOT finish their shift alive.

            • It is inevitable they will come to the home that is prepared for their arrival. No tears from me for them.

              • I’d like to see any jury convict someone defending against an unconstitutional seizure. But it is California so perhaps mindless, irrational, random violence is the answer.

              • Menzo, all they’ll get from me is bullets with their names on them.

                • I live in the united states, whatever some foreign country like CA does has no effect on me.

                  • DONATE TO GOA OR NRA IN FAG HOGGS NAME! OR WHATEVER YOU WANNA DO. EPIC POSSIBILITIES!

            • BH..No way one person can take down the numbers they will send after you. I know I do not know you personally. For some reason I kinda like you. You should tone it way down. You may last a day longer. Think about it.

              • I was going to tell him the same thing…1

              • Tacoma, while I can appreciate that thought, it’s really our enemies who need to tone it down and forget their whole agenda against us. People like me are not the ones who have bad intentions toward other people. I’d love to see all these problems go away but we all know better than that.

                • Tacoma, BTW, whenever that time comes I’ll be at the BOL with family so I won’t be alone. Let’s all hope it never comes but I’m afraid it will.

        • If agents of a rogue government come for your guns & ammo …. give them your ammo !!! 🙂

        • This is simple and truthful and factual. I worked as the medical of a methadone clinic and in house detox. Through time, found out the drug dealers were making one million per week, and the big bosses were mayors, city council, senators, congressmen, sheriffs, police, etc. When one makes a million dollars a week, it is easy to hire out the dirty work.
Firearms are freedom for the individual, and anyone that wants to have gun laws is a treasonous one in the US. And needs to be tried for treason.

      2. Perfect place to start, though I believe that LibTard Americans have the right to bear arms as does any other American. These agents and their superiors must be arrested and tried for anti-Constitutional action. They are to be held accountable and anyone who legitimately, and legally protect themselves against these miscreant agent invaders should not be persecuted or prosecuted. The game is afoot.

      3. I sort of feel sorry for those officers tasked to do this. Sure, they’ve chosen their live’s paths. But, speaking fairly, I’d hope all of them would think twice about obeying unconstitutional orders. In many cases, they may be right in conducting raids against some truly bad actors. But how many times will they use the infamous, “I was just following orders” lament?

        • Yep they need to go after all the gang members first. Think that will happen or is the agenda? Of course not, real criminals are ALLOWED to have guns. If these guys don’t go after them then they deserve what they will eventually get coming to them…

          • Genius, sad but true. The black gangbangers will have the NAACP, Black CRIMINAL Lives Matter, and all the other libturd scum standing up for them when they start crying that civil rights crap.

      4. So it begins.
        California “leads the way.”

After not being able to post yesterday, today I can.
So, final chapter of our little version of a shtf event.
I hope it has been worth the time to read and that there are a couple of worthwhile items. I will post a link to all the parts at the end.
I can understand why the site owner didn’t want to run this story, but don’t understand why after 3 emails to him and his wife, I got not one response. Not even a “no thanks.”
I’ve put myself on his major watch list by emailing him directly and now wish that I hadn’t done that. Oh, well.

        Part 6
        Final part.
We had a total collapse of services, utilities, water, police, communications, fuel, you name it—it wasn’t there. I’ll leave a set of links to the first 5 parts at the end and hopefully they will be correct.
( we have had power back for 3 weeks now, but with a generator and a solar array we were never without it.) Total time to restore it was 4&1/2 mos. Municipal water was off for 3 weeks. TV was available the entire time)

        Day 57 (after hurricane)
National Guard troops brought 2 boxes of food as part of the relief effort. This was the first time we have seen them come to our house, although they have been at neighborhood centers passing out cases
of bottled water and food previously. The food is of little nutritional value but it’s something. We accept it, not knowing what is inside the sealed boxes. We give most of it away. Some locals also give it to their churches.
At this point food donations are not that necessary as grocery stores are now fully stocked, for the most part, and debit cards, credit and EBT cards are working again.

About 100 days now since the storm.
Things are better but life will be changed for some time.
Still no electricity. Repairs are ongoing but at a snail’s pace.
The roads are still in terrible condition everywhere. No one is expecting they’ll be fixed anytime soon.
Many intersections still have no working stoplights.
Landslides that reduced many roads to a single lane are untouched as are many of the island’s bridges that were washed away.

There are large green commercial generators on utility trailers that are being used to pump water for entire neighborhoods. If one breaks down, the water stops.
We continue working to clear our land and replant trees and small crops but also to enjoy some time to ourselves. Hiking, beachgoing and recreation have returned to our lives. It feels good to be able to relax a little.

Some items that worked well (and not so well) for us:
A small flashlight called the J5 Tactical.
Adjustable beam, tough casing (I dropped one 3 times on a ceramic tile over concrete floor with no problem).
It produces a lot of light from just one 2A battery. I bought one, tried it, and then bought 2 more. About $15 each. Worth it.

The Rayovac Indestructible. Strong light, at about $10. Uses 2- 2A batteries. Reviews are knocking the tail cap switch. Mine is acting up but still works. Will try to find switches online as I like it’s power. Would not recommend this light although it may be worth it to some people because of it’s low price.

A cheaper flashlight, a no name item somewhat bigger than a pack of cigarettes. Uses 3- 3A batteries and has 4 led lights on one end and a series of 24 led lights on one side. Alternately pushing the “on” button switches it back and forth. About $5. Works well.
A brand called The Pad is now in retail stores but have not tried it. Similar style and shape.

Energizer batteries have to be among the very worst you can use. Duracell is all I will use from now on.

The Honda 3000EUis generator. Quiet and efficient.
It only needs half a quart of oil per change. The Eco-throttle feature is fantastic. On demand fuel usage per electrical load.

Small solar array. We are doing well with just 500 watts of panels and a 3000 watt pure sine wave inverter. Keeps a full sized refrigerator running all day. Need to add to this setup.
We use the generator at night, put a large tub of ice in the fridge overnight and the generator is turned off until morning. Once the sun is high enough, it’s back on solar.

        Stihl MS250 18” chainsaw.
Once I learned the starting routine, it’s a gem. Just 2 or 3 pulls at full choke, then move to half choke and it starts right up.
There is no primer bulb which is a good thing as they wear out soon enough.
The first “full choke” setting is equivalent to the primer bulb. Leaving it there too long will result in fuel lock and it’s impossible to start. Thanks to some you tube contributor for that info.

Medical related.. In a recent news article a physician recently stated “the era of antibiotics is over.” Germs have adapted to antibiotics and the return to sulfa drugs is imminent.
Two sulfur based ointments are listed here. Made for veterinary work to stop infections and kill parasites.
Either should work well in preventing staph infections.
They are safe to use on humans and one brand is Durvet Nu Stock and another is Happy Jack.
The main ingredients are mineral oil and sulfur. I think Happy Jack is the better of the two. Durvet is much thicker and if you choose it, buy direct from mfr. if possible.

A final note on exhaustion. You will find it’s an unstoppable occurrence that you’ll be dealing with constantly. Sometimes a brief rest will help, but not always. Pacing yourself is sometimes hard to do as you’ll find there are so many things that must be done.
Whether you’re cutting wood, gardening, or securing your perimeter, (the list is endless) exhaustion is always with you. I’ve found just pressing through it works, but being in as good a physical condition as you can be is most important.
A bottle of caffeine tablets is a good item to have. Sometimes half of one tablet works well.
At any given time you may feel like you could use 3 days rest. Eventually, hopefully, that time will come.
Try to work at less strenuous projects when your energy level is down.

P.S. Feb. 4–Electric crews from Texas were in our area this week and power was restored yesterday. 4 and a half months without power.
In 4 and a half months hurricane season begins again!

        • thank you for posting this

          good food for thought !

        • Thanks very much!

        • In place of NoDoze (or caffeine tablets) one can use Excedrin in a pinch. Excedrin has 65mg of caffeine while, No Doze has 100mg of caffeine. Extra-Strength NoDoze has 200mg of caffeine. I used to work for BMS who makes those products.

        • And why exactly do you choose to live in that brown shithole?

          • Why live here?
No winter, no need for heat. Winter days are often mid 70’s.
            Offshore fishing.
            Surfing.
            Beach walking.
            Water falls.
            Year round growing season.
Property tax on 5 acres $45. year.
Car mechanic, dentists, dr.s and other services cost much less cost than US mainland.
People here behave differently than US, i.e., friendlier.
            I could go on..

      5. Ketchup, Thanks again for sharing your experience! I like the J5 flashlight too, also I agree energizer batts are crappy. Duracell is very good but another that I use regularly is ray-o-vac. Sounds like you have a good setup there. Honda generators are the BEST! I rarely use mine and even with stabilizer it can get gummy so I bought me a generac propane gen 5500 watts. 1 hour on it for 500 bux, it is loud though so I will need to do some modifications. Glad to hear things are getting better, hang in there and git er done!

        • Oh and you can get duracell batts way cheaper than stores on ebay. Same with lighters, lamp oil, wicks, etc.

          • Plus rechargeable batteries with chargers for cheap on ebay.

            • Menzo, Thats true BUT I have bought several different types on ebay and trust me The generic ones are PURE GARBAGE! I have had great success with EBL branded ones which are just a tad more than generic. EBL= 100% work good…. Generic= 70% fail/ don’t work at all.

      6. Don’t think for a second that Trump isn’t on board with this plan. Trusting anyone who really can’t be trusted never leads to anywhere good.

      7. Patriots of California (all 7 of you), fight back!

      8. If they had a similar program in Florida possibly the 17 would still be alive. The catch is of course the “creeping extension” of those who are deemed unqualified to own a firearm. First it is mouthy threatening individuals (like the shooter in Florida), then road rage offenders, then wife beaters, then no fly list, then republicans, then etc. It will not stop until all guns are confiscated. So I guess we are stuck with school kids and concert goers getting mowed down!

      9. Kill the whales, save the minnows.
What can you say about people that put ketchup on hot dogs?

      10. Convicted felons are not supposed to have firearms. I have no problems with that. I have a problem with those who don’t make a difference between convicted felons and law abiding citizens possessing firearms. Ya’all just fell into the Lefts trap. My landlord’s husband has a firearm he should not have after catchimg a domestic violence charge in Florida. It’s in his wifes name

        • It doesn’t take much to be a “felon” these days… dumb-a**.

          • Curt, you are 100% right! Get caught with a joint in the wrong place… “FELONY” and on and on stupid ass offenses they brand as felonies to take your money and your guns.

          • No need to get personal, Curt. Whatever happened to civil discourse?

      11. Raise the legal age for gun possession from 18 to 21. Sounds reasonable. The next time it might become a ban on anyone under the age of 25. As long as it coincides with the legal age for admission into the military it might get passed. Then I expect there will be a ban on any person over the age of 65 or no social security benefits. It won’t be too much after that you will simply see those between the age of 25 to 65 simply disarmed because during their school daze they were all classified as mentally incompetent.

It doesn’t take a genius to read the writing on the wall.

Like it or not, we will be disarmed. The world order either by conquest or consent.

        Have a nice day.

I’ve been saying that like a robotic tape machine for years. Did you know it has a hidden meaning. It was started as a message from a retailer that the store was owned by one of the unchosen. It refers to the great day when all the other people will be genocide.

But first they want to take back the guns they sold.

I saw pictures of what was reported to be a prison in front of the Walmart in San Jose, CA. I don’t know if this picture is real. I do know San Jose has a large Hispanic population. I wonder what gives.

Any one out there who knows?

        _

      12. The war is getting very close…get ready

      13. I lost my 2nd amendment rights when my ex-wife put a restraining order on me, and threw me out of MY house. I never touched her, but she the court order anyway. This injustice is a subject for another day. But I retained my sidearm, because in my mind, why should a Judge that never even heard my side of the story be able to take away the right to defend myself.? If a team of ‘special agents’ broke my door down to confiscate my handgun, they would have been shot as they entered the premises. PERIOD.
Thank God it never happened, but this MUST be the mindset of all freedom loving Americans…..or we will surely become slaves in the nation our forefathers conquered.
You can take that to the bank.!!!!!

        • Go get you a rifle too brother.

          • Have your ex “whacked” 😉

        • A good shovel can be one of your most valued possessions. We may need to use them soon, very soon.

        • Read about a guy in the next state over whose wife took out an order of protection against him as revenge (there were no violence issues, no pictures of bruises, no medical reports, no witnesses, no police reports). It precipitated when he wouldn’t agree to giving her everything in the divorce. He saw it coming and moved his good sized gun collection out of state, to a blood relatives house.

The judge issued the protection order, and provided police with a warrant to seize the gun collection the wife described in her protection order request. The judge was livid when police reported a search of his home found not a single bullet. The judge ordered him to retrieve the weapons for seizure from the other state. He reminded the judge that he was under an order of protection and can’t touch those weapons for five years. The judge dragged him back into court numerous times trying to force the return of the weapons, but the judge has no standing to issue orders or judgements against people in another state who committed no crime. He entered a contract with his relative to prevent his access to the weapons and for their return in five years plus added contingencies should he be unable to regain them etc.

This woman knew her X liked his guns, and she specifically targeted them through a false claim of demestic violence as hate inspired revenge. It’s surprisingly common. Many angry women would rather have the husbands cherished gun collection destroyed by police, rather than even have its cash value on the table during asset proceedings.

      14. These heroic (NOT) scum oinkers proudly go after the citizens and remove their guns. While the murderers with the “Big Guns” Cheney/Bush who sponsored 911 and Obama the sodomizing racist along with Hillary kill hundreds of thousands in Libya and Syria while supporting ISIS. These cowards leave all the WMD’s in the hands of psychopaths because they work for these
psychopaths not you. If any of these gun-grabbers should meet their fate I will cheer as they are pigs in the truest sense of the word.

        • Kill one man and your a murderer….
Kill a million men and your a conquorer…

      15. I must state my disappointment when no pictures were given actually showing the swine.

      16. The worst part of this is you won’t know anything about it until they start banging down your door.

        • Oh you will have plenty of warning! Once something like this starts word spreads ultra-fast!

        • Get a small Dog. Treat it like Royalty and it will warn you, a 40 plus pound dog will slow any one down.

          • yep one of those little yappy house dogs is the best alarm. and they don’t eat you out of house
& home. They might bite someone but aint big enough to cause harm or kill anyone.

        • That’s why you carry, everywhere, always, inside as well as ouside the house.

      17. 12 misdemeanors? Soon speeding tickets, red light, Put uniforms on the third world types, And we get third world cops? Shall not be infringed? At what point treason?

      18. The libtards from Sacramental are going to ask law-abiding officers to take heretofore legal firearms from heretofore law-abiding citizens. This will accomplish turning good citizens against the tyrannical state of CA. Is this their published objectives? NO. The politicians claim they want to make the state safe for its citizens. Not one criminal will pay any attention to the legislative efforts to restrict firearms. The criminals will acquire the tools needed to accomplish their preferred dirty deeds. The libtards in Sacramental will only accomplish endangering good law enforcement personnel by trying to confiscate firearms.

      19. “They may try
        but, they will d**”

      20. Cigarettes kill 450,000 people a year, but they are not coming for them.

The FDA says it is illegal to sell any product that has a psychoactive ingredient in it unless you have a prescription.

So how come you don’t need a prescription for nicotine-filled cigarettes?

Hitler made everyone re-register their weapons.

Then he came for those weapons.

Then he came for the people he hated.

And today, the people the evildoers hate are the ones who believe in God, and in the Constitution, and, who obey all Ten Commandments.

And evildoers can’t (totally) express their hatred to you or exterminate you until and unless they take your guns.

Students reported a second shooter at the high school in Florida. But mainstream media won’t tell you that.

Just like movie goers reported a second shooter at the Batman movie theater event. Their cell phones were confiscated and then later returned.

Just like multiple shooters were reported at the Mandalay Hotel.

So what do I suggest we do?

Teach the lessons of history. Speak truth to power. Use reason. Don’t start hysteria nor capitulate to it. That includes not making threats. Talk about how many people die from ‘cigarette bullets’ and other causes of death.

Plenty of retired veterans and retired law enforcement officers can protect our schools, the type of women and men who won’t hesitate to rush into a school where gunfire is being heard, they can be screened appropriately. Intervening immediately with bullies and their victims with trained mental health specialists can defuse potential violence. Tightening and restricting entrances to schools can aid in security.

Outlawing guns will not eliminate the evil in some hearts.

In short, remain calm, use reason, challenge others’ thinking, don’t threaten, avoid hysteria, be compassionate, and come up with solutions. Lastly, we as individuals and as a nation HAVE to get back to God: RESTORE prayer in our schools, obey the Ten Commandments, and practice Holy Love.

And remember what Gandhi said, “Truth never damages a cause that is just.”

        God bless you all.

        – the Lone Ranger

        • This message has not been approved by the founding fathers.

          • The only approval I need is my own, not theirs, or yours.

            – the Lone Ranger

      21. The people behind this want to further their political careers. Police that are needed to fight actual crime are being diverted to further those careers. And,of course, they want to raise taxes to hire even more. Playing politics at the expense of public safety! Typical liberal politicians!

      22. Are there people who for whatever reason shouldn’t be allowed to own or even touch a gun? Of course there are. I think that anyone who receives a Social Security Disability check based on Mental problems should not be allowed to own firearms or even be allowed to vote. I made that statement to a crazy check drawing guy. and boy did he get angry. He was wearing a handgun and started threatening me. I told him bring it on . Lets have a old west fast draw competition at 50 feet. Ive seen you shoot. I will let you draw first and after you miss I will take my shot. He just got madder but he knows he cant hit anything with his handgun. Possibly I don’t need a gun. Anyone who would taunt a known crazy is a little off their rocker also?

      23. There are so many things in this article and the amazingly wide-spread comments about it. First of all, let the politicians pass any and all anti-Constitutional laws they want. ENFORCING THOSE LAWS IS ANOTHER MATTER. Any true American such as myself will simply IGNORE THOSE LAWS simply because we don’t like or agree with them (a favorite action by the leftists). If police come to take my guns from me, I know they will eventually succeed in getting them, but I always have the same question for them: How many of you are willing to die before you get my guns? As far as making us safe by taking our guns, why don’t the anti-gun crowd ever talk about taking the guns from ALL gangs, whether they be white, black, brown, yellow or a any other color? The answer is simply that the politicians know those gang members would band together and use their firearms to resist. They are counting on the fact that most of us legal firearm owners would fail to do either, so they figure they can succeed in disarming us. WRONG! I have never, and will never obey or comply with any law I don’t agree with, PERIOD. If I am a criminal because of that, at least I am a FREE criminal.

      24. get ready for Federal gun control under Trump. I live in New York so we lost our 2nd amendment rights decades ago so hopefully it won’t effect me much.
