I say our recent history of presidents as well as other public officials at the federal level should be held responsible for war crimes, fraud, deceit, and malfeasance and not get away with it ‘because their office seat is too sacred’.

A judge today ordered the release of a Marine Corps veteran being detained as a psychiatric patient after concerns over his Facebook postings.
After an hourlong hearing, Circuit Judge W. Allan Sharrett said an involuntary commitment petition issued against Brandon J. Raub was invalid because it contained no allegation or basis to holding him.
“The petition is so devoid of any factual allegations that it could not be reasonably expected to give rise to a case or controversy,” said the release order signed by the judge and sought by lawyers Anthony F. Troy and Brian D. Fowler.
Sharrett said that he was shocked by the failure of a magistrate to not include in the order any grounds for holding Raub, a Chesterfield resident who was transferred from John Randolph Hospital in Hopewell to the Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Thanks to all the veterans(among others) who stood up for this man and contacted a lawyer for him.His lawyer said (RT tv)that last year, in Virginia alone, there were 20,000 cases similar to this.He said that chances were that if he had not gotten a lawyer he would have disappeared into the system.He may have been tooting his own horn but he deserves it.

I agree 100% with Satori’s note above – this picture could have been taken of ANY politician and been relevant.. It just so happened to be the POTUS, and I think it really hits home for people (plus it’s really funny that it happened to be President Obama given his undeniable dependency on teleprompters… take away TOTUS and you end up with ‘You didn’t build that!’ type comments)

Is it my faulty memory or did we just endure 8 years of a president who among other things, lied us into war, destroyed our international standing as a force for good in the world, economic meltdown, turned science into a political tool, spent in deficit when there was no major economic crisis, attacked the environment like he was personally offended by what remained of our clean air and water, legalized torture, politicized everything and appointed cronies and incompetents to every post that he could (Remember Alberto Gonzalas, Brownie at FEMA and Harriet Mier who without qualification he nominated to the Supreme Court), ignored the threat posed by al qaeda until it was too late, even though Bill the slutmiester Clinton warned him about bin laden in their chat during the transition, outed a CIA agent, authored the patriot act which among other things deprives us of the right to habeus corpus, saw more of his appointees go to prison for corruption then any other president including Harding and Grant combined, made a joke of medical reform by preventing medicare medicaid from purchasing meds from the lowest cost supplier, made it illegal for Americans to go to Canada to fill their perscriptions at a third of the cost in order to help out big pharma, Terry Schiavo, repealed the law that prevented lawmakers upon leaving office from going directly to work for the corporations on who’s behalf they passed legislation for….. and on and on and on. Hey I guess its not stealing if you make stealing legal.
So maybe Obama isn’t my concept of the ideal president. In fact this would have been the perfect election cycle for a real 3rd party alternative. Too late now I suppose. Fact is, we only have two choices. After the last republican administration, I don’t think this nation can survive another republican administration. I’m conservative. Voting Dem is hard for me to do but better men then me have given up their lives defending this nation. I figure out of respect for their sacrifice, if for no other reason, i can keep voting dem (the first time i voted dem was against bush when he ran for a second term) until the reps come to their senses or I get to old to make it to the polls.
Btw, my idea of a good president: Someone who is fiscally conservative, recognizes immigration is a threat to our national identity and is willing, no matter the cost, to put up the resources to stop it cold and further, will not reward those who entered illegaly with citizenship status. I want a president who believes in and supports free enterprise and doesn’t believe in welfare for individuals or corporations. Will maintain defense spending at a level which will deter aggression from other nations but will not spend on defense beyond that deterence level. A president who will support and strengthen the freedom of information act. Free citizens must have access to information in order to make informed choices. Finally I want a president who understands how deficit spending is as much a tax as income tax is a tax. he needs to know that deficit spending always comes back as inflation which if left unchecked can destroy our economy. If you doubt that, look at Argentina. They are a case study of how a 1st world nation can become a 2nd world nation simply by misunderstanding how the relationship between production of goods and services is related to the money supply.
As for other issues i.e. the war on christmas lol, gay marriage, abortion etc. I may have my own views on those matters, and they don’t have to be the same as the presidents in order for me to support him or her. But the one’s I identified I think are critical to our national survival.
