Is America The Most Materialistic Society In The History Of The World?

Do you LOVE America?

When it comes to materialism, has any nation ever surpassed what we are seeing in the United States right now?  We define our lives by how much stuff we have, to a large degree our personal and business relationships are defined by how much money we make, and even most of the important dates on our calendar are all about materialism.  Just think about it.  We throw outrageous birthday parties for our kids and we shower them with gifts.  Most of our “holidays” have become highly materialistic, and the biggest holiday of all in our society, Christmas, is an absolute orgy of materialism.  We make lists of the “wealthiest Americans” and we glorify their achievements.  We spend most of our time either making money or spending it.  Even the phrase “the American Dream” reveals how materialistic we are.  When most people are asked what “the American Dream” is, they start talking about a house, a car, vacations, retirement, sending your kids to college, etc.  The American Dream has become all about money and stuff.  Sadly, no matter how big our homes are and no matter how many shiny new toys we accumulate, we never seem to be happy.  We always want more, and we always seem to be willing to go into more debt to get it.  We are the most materialistic society in the history of the world, and our endless greed is going to end up swallowing us alive.

When it comes to materialism in America, there are outrageous examples all around us, but one of my favorite examples is the “Rich Kids of Instagram“.  It is a Tumblr blog of photos from Instagram of young Americans showing off how they are enjoying the vast wealth of their parents.  The following is how the Washington Post describes the blog….

The controversial new Tumblr is a collection of snapshots from the photo-sharing site that depicts the children of wealth and privilege — summering in the Hamptons, lounging on yachts and posing by their luxury cars.

One does a back-flip out of a helicopter near St. Tropez. Others snap pictures of their restaurant bills — allegedly paying thousands of dollars for lobster, champagne and high-end liquor.

In the warm patina of the Instagram, the youngsters appear to be living over-the-top lifestyles — and enjoying every moment.

“Our everyday is better than your best day,” reads one caption, a bit tauntingly. And, “Do you have a horse in your backyard? Didn’t think so.”

But just because you have a horse on your property does that make your life better than the rest of our lives?

    Of course not.

    Wealth does not equal happiness.

Unfortunately, however, most Americans have totally bought into this lie.

Most Americans believe that more money equals a better life.

In response to “the Rich Kids of Instagram”, the Huffington Post recently put together a piece entitled “the Rich Cats of Instagram” that features photos of cats as they “model upscale accessories, lounge with bottles of champagne, sail on yachts and ponder life while relaxing atop piles of money.”

Of course a lot of those pictures are quite funny, but they also reveal a deep truth about our society.

We have spent our lives chasing after the almighty dollar thinking that it will make us happy.  Study after study has shown that we tend to link wealth and happiness.  The following is from a recent NBC News article about one of those studies….

Many parents already know older children can be materialistic. Some tweens not only want the latest games and clothes, but also think owning these things will bring them happiness, friends and popularity. And marketers are eager to get them to buy: Tweens spend $28 billion a year, not including the more than $200 billion their parents spend on them, according to market research company C+R Research.

But even though we have an incredibly high standard of living compared to most of the rest of the world, are most of us actually happy?

No way.  In fact, Americans take more anti-depressants than anyone else on the planet.

It is really easy to get caught up in materialism though.  Let me share an example from my own life.

Several months ago our old truck completely died.  Instead of pouring thousands of more dollars into fixing it, we decided that we would get another used truck.

So the other day I stopped by a dealership while my wife was grabbing some things from Home Depot.  The salesperson started showing me some of the used trucks on the lot, but after a while I suggested that he show me some of the new trucks that were sitting on the other side of the lot.

Before I knew it, I was sitting in the most expensive truck on the lot and he was showing me all of the cool features it had.

And I have to admit – for a few moments there I was really enamored with that truck.  It was the coolest truck that I had ever seen in my life.

Of course my wife and I don’t need a truck like that.  We only need to haul stuff around a few times a month.  And we certainly do not need the amount of debt that it would take to buy such a truck.

But for a few moments there I really wanted it.  The pull of materialism can be very strong.

So would that truck have “changed my life” or brought me lasting happiness?

    Of course not.

It would have brought some thrills for the first couple of days, but after a while it would just be sitting in the garage taking up space just like any other truck would.

So did I end up buying a truck?

Not yet.  But we need one soon.  My wife has been without a truck for quite a few months now and she is getting impatient.

But whether we get a nice used truck or a used truck that has one foot in the grave, it really isn’t going to change our lives much.

In the end, our lives should not be defined by what we own or by how much money we have in the bank.

But how do we refer to ourselves in this day and age?

The American people are called “consumers” and the truth is that we consume far more than anyone else on the globe does.

Just look at our eating habits.  Of all the major industrialized nations, America is the most obese.

The next time you go into a store, take note of how many people are overweight.

It has not always been this way.  Back in 1962, only 13 percent of all Americans were obese.

But now overeating is a national sport.  At this point, approximately 36 percent of all Americans are obese, and it is being projected that number will rise to 42 percent by 2030.

While we are gorging ourselves with food, what else do we like to do?

That’s right – we love to watch television.  In fact, the average American watches 28 hours of television every single week.

We have become completely and totally addicted to entertainment, and we have become trained to be constantly “plugged in” to something.

Our lives have become all about constantly feeding our greed and our selfishness.  In fact, that is a major reason for the breakdown of the family in America.  We tend to view marriage as a temporary condition that can be quickly discarded when it no longer makes us happy.

Sadly, the United States has the highest divorce rate in the world by a very wide margin at this point.

In addition, more Americans than ever are putting off marriage these days.  Young Americans are being told that “an education” and “a career” are more important.  According to the Pew Research Center, only51 percent of all American adults are currently married.  Back in 1960, 72 percent of all adults in America were married.

As a result of these factors, we are an incredibly lonely nation.  Today, the United States has the highest percentage of one person households on the entire globe.

In order to fill the void, the American people turn to things that will numb the pain.  American use more legal drugs than anyone else on the planet and they also use more illegal drugs than anyone else on the planet.

We have more “stuff” than any other society in the history of the world has ever had, but it has not made us happy.

And how did we pay for all of this?

We paid for a lot of this with debt.  In fact, we have accumulated the biggest mountain of debt in the history of the world.

During my lifetime, the debt of the U.S. government has gotten more than 30 times larger.  For much more on this, please see my previous article entitled “27 Things That Every American Should Know About The National Debt“.

But the federal government is not the only one with a debt problem.  The truth is that our entire society is absolutely drowning in debt.

Over the past 50 years, the total amount of debt in the U.S. has grown from less than a trillion dollars to nearly 55 trillion dollars….

We have used massive amounts of debt in an attempt to feed our endless greed and materialism and we have gotten ourselves into a whole lot of trouble.

This is one of the reasons why I write.  I want people to understand how bad things have really gotten.

Thanks to our foolishness, our economy has been declining, it is going to continue to decline, and a massive economic collapse is coming.

Some people believe that this is a message of “doom and gloom”, but that is not the case at all.

Sticking our heads in the sand and pretending that somehow everything is going to be just fine is not going to do anyone any good.

Instead, I believe that warning people about the coming economic collapse is a message of hope.

There is hope in understanding what is happening, developing a plan to deal with it, and preparing yourself and your family for the storm that is coming.

It is the people that are ignoring all of the warnings that are going to be in real trouble.

Millions upon millions of people will be absolutely blindsided by what is coming.  Many will give in to total despair once they realize that their prosperity is gone and they have done nothing to prepare for what they are now facing.

My hope is that the information that I write about will be shocking enough that it will wake people up and motivate them to get prepared so that they can handle the incredibly challenging years that are ahead.

And the truth is that our lives should not be about our money and our stuff anyway.

Your possessions are just temporary.  None of them are going to last forever and you certainly cannot take them with you when you die.

Even though our economy has had some rough times, we still have a higher standard of living than 99 percent of the humans that have ever lived on this planet have had.

You would think that would be enough for us.

But it isn’t.  We have hoarded our wealth and we have lived in luxury and self-indulgence.

When our debt-fueled prosperity disappears, most Americans are not going to know how to handle it.

Most Americans will believe that their lives are “over” at that point.

But those that are not caught up in materialism and that have prepared for what is ahead will understand that the next chapters of their lives can be the greatest chapters of all.

      1. YES IT IS, AND IT IS FIRST IN OBESITY

        • My mama always said….

“the bigger they come the harder they fall”

          • This is off topic but sort of important. I know I believe in breakdown or violence here in US. But I was reading on intel-hub a article that says asteriod to hit antartica in 2012. I went on to google and another website said this was a hoax from 2010 and now its reappearing in 2012. Im starting to lose credibility in that website. There was a website that had the exact situation copied and pasted about it and how its wrong. I thought about it and its true if a satallite falls they have a hard time knowing where its going to land, long alone know where an asteroid is going to hit in 2 months or only on the north or south poll. I believe and consider and take many of these posts on here to heart and learn things like be-informed on earthquakes. my point is yes we need to prep and be ready for anything but so many of these alternative websites strike fear and things that are false just like the MSM news. I just started watching drudge and this website for about 2 years. I love this website most of all. but im afraid so many of these news and MSM are giving so many false info or totally BS info that really make people that are not sure what to do in life and is having a impact on what they do or what they buy or if they move out of state. I don’t know what to do about it, you can just simply not read it or ignore it, but I hope we all can be honest as possible on here to each other and learn things. because I know this site and others are having a very large impact on choices people make. I didn’t have a point just wanted to bring this up. And again I love this website. sorry about spelling.

            • dont understand why I would get a thumbs down on what I said, the person that did-I would love for you to give the reason why you didnt like what i had to say. why dont you explain you stance on this. this helps us all understanding each other.

You are correct..many many many of these so called alt media sites are akin to junk mail..

There is a market out there and the snake oil charmers are out in full force..most regurgitating tired old nonsense without any facts/docs/links to substantiate them whatsoever..

That being said..take everything with grain of salt
You must filter the wheat from the chaff

most sites are full of bs..at least Mac substantiates his arguments with direct links and let’s all of us decide for ourselves..

and not every bit of info will relate directly to our unique situations..as we each have entirely different mindsets and economic/geographical circumstances..

Preparing for whatever is a sound insurance policy..

and all your preps can be utilized against the obvious inflation upon us..and worse case scenarios..

              just my 2 cents

              possee

            • “Im starting to lose credibility in that website.”

You mean you actually read that website and gave them credibility in the first place?

            • I hear ya man …..fear mongering ….the government uses it daily and so do the people on web sites . All I can suggest is just use your head and do what you feel is most likely to happen based on your research and gut feelings . Read foreign news …..its less biased than our own propaganda machines here . Some are very brutal about what is happening here , just be aware that they also have a slant to it , but its a matter of degrees , our media has lost all credibility .here is one for example talking about wetbacks http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/15-02-2012/120506-illegal_immigration-0/
Another thing , what and how we do things is in the end up to us , listen , read and practice skills . …some info folks give is going to be incorrect or incomplete ….its unfortunately up to you to filter it .

            • Big perm- I just read that for curiosity most of all but I have seen same links from SHTF on intel and vise versa. It makes you think about things but you dont know what to believe. Some are as big of lies as obama speaks. TR-Thanks for that link! just got to hotel so going to read in the morning, thanks man! good stuff makes sense

            • LOL , yeah the Russians dont mince words or beat around the bush , they call it as they see it……I should know ……my girl is one …..we get along fantastically .

        • It kind of goes hand in hand, doesn’t it?

“Hungry? Let’s hit drive-thru on the way home from the mall.”

“Let’s order a pizza since it’s Friday night – oh – why not get wings and garlic bread too?”

“We’ll go out to dinner to celebrate – let’s go to that new place with the all-you-can eat pasta.”

It goes with the spend-spend-spend mentality. An avid consumer is an avid consumer, no matter what they are consuming.

It’s all about knowing when to say “Enough.”

          • I grew up in a household with this kind of mentality. Everything was fast-food, order out, frozen pre-packaged and eating out at restaurants.

When I left and got on my own, it was at close to detox as I think I will ever get. I stopped getting headaches and could finally sleep through the night. I lost weight and had a positive attitude.

I go back and visit my parents from time to time and I feel like I am walking into a pig sty. Stacked pizza boxes, cases of soda in the fridge, bags of potato chips everywhere. And, of course, a 60-inch HD television to top it all off.

My grandparents were farmers and simple people, lived off the land. What in the hell happened to their children? I feel the need to right the rudder and steer back to their example.

          • I agree with the theory, but in some cases it does make sense to stop by a drive-thru on the way home. The missus and I do it once in awhile when we’re late getting back, since it’s cheaper (in time, electricity, hot water for dishes, etc) than cooking dinner once we get home.

However, there’s a catch: The trick is to only get what will feed you, and not load up on the massive 6-patty burger, the 5-gallon bucket of fries, the desserts, and the 128-oz soda. Ordering the small size will provide sufficient calories, and is actually cheaper.

Another trick is to avoid the grease in the first place. We usually hit the sub sandwich store, get a foot-long for $5, and split it (plenty enough to feed two people with that thing, and it’s way healthier if you do it right).

It all comes down to self-control, and not just at the drive-through. Stop by the grocery store, and note the “$3 for $10!” price tags that blare out at you, for crap you don’t really need. Eat a good meal, make your shopping list of what you actually need, then go and buy stuff… and only sticking to the list! Doing that will make the difference between a $100 grocery bill for two weeks and a $300 one.

          • @Daisy: Totally off topic, but could you tell me if it is safe to use the old canning jars(qts. with the words “CROWN” or “CORONA”….”made in Canada”…..they have glass lids, and tin or “galvanized metal” rings….Don’t know if they would work in a pressurized canner??

I know they used them in my mothers day(and I just got a dozen or so given to me,) not sure if I can find the rubber rings that go between the glass lid and jar or not??? If not will just use to store oats, sugar, flour in……I guess (: thanx in advance…CC

            • CC ~

I have a few I was given, as well as the gaskets. I’ve never used them for canning – I’ve just used them to store dry items. If I were going to use them for canning I think I’d probably just use them in the waterbath canner. They are definitely a bit more fragile, as I’ve broken more than one and rarely ever have a problem breaking the more modern jars.

The brand of rings I have is “Viceroy” and I just looked at them – the boxes are older and I don’t think I’d trust these to seal – but check it out – the company might still be in business.

One place that is sure to have the rings if they are available at all is lehmans dot com – they have EVERYTHING (and you will be on that site forever – trust me!) I’ve ordered from them before and had not issue getting things through Canadian customs. Alternatively Home Hardware will order nearly anything in for you so you can check their site to see if they carry the product as well. 🙂

            • Canada Canuk, measure the mouth of the jars that have missing rings. They may be an industry standard size and can be replaced w/ new ones.

          • Everything in moderation. Too much of anything can be a bad thing.

        • The redistributionists claim that the rich have most of the wealth in the country tied up in their evil bank accounts and refuse to allow it to circulate in the economy. Fact is, rich people’s wealth is tied up in assets, not in vast hundreds of millions of dollars sitting in banks. Its invested into real estate, companies, stock, gold, cars, yachts, and other forms of hard capital, some of which can be liquated easily, and others that cannot. Sure, they have a certain percentage of their wealth in liquid bank accounts, but for the vast most part, one of the wealthy’s rules is NOT to tie it up in paper currency in a bank account.

This being the case, how can the wealthy’s critics assert that they are damaging the economy when most of the cash they have IS CIRCULATING in the economy after purchasing and investing into their vast fortunes? What was Michael Moore smoking when he stated that they are hoarding all the poor people’s cash?

        • “And that’s the only thing I need is *this*. I don’t need this or this. Just this ashtray… And this paddle game. – The ashtray and the paddle game and that’s all I need… And this remote control. – The ashtray, the paddle game, and the remote control, and that’s all I need… And these matches. – The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control, and the paddle ball… And this lamp. – The ashtray, this paddle game, and the remote control, and the lamp, and that’s all *I* need. And that’s *all* I need too. I don’t need one other thing, not one… I need this. – The paddle game and the chair, and the remote control, and the matches for sure. Well what are you looking at? What do you think I’m some kind of a jerk or something! – And this. That’s all I need.”

        • Classic.

“Their stuff is shit and your shit is STUFF!”

      2. Are we the materialistic? some yes, some no. Moderation is the key.

        • I’m NOT !! I drive a 85’Chevy Van and I get a lot of Snotty looks from people driving Mercedes ! But I DON’T CARE!! Besides I may be living in my ole van “Down by the RIVER” soon!!!

      3. You are right. We can’t take it with us. People need to realize what is really important. Holidays are the biggest rip-off there is. Except for the day after sales of course. I see something I want for the grandkids and they get it when I can pay cash. Not birthdays, not Christmas etc. All they really need is love, shelter, food, clothes and don’t forget your time. Too many people put so much into having the perfect holiday they miss out on the little things that are really important. I really appreciate all the time you put into this, and enjoy reading peoples comments that have more experience in lots of different things.

        • “””Holidays are the biggest rip-off there is.”””

          ABSOLUTELY!!!

Most people think that the tradition of giving gifts for Christmas has something to do with the wise men bringing their frankincense and crap to Jesus.

Truth is, it was a marketing scheme to help businesses through the rough time of winter. Santa Claus was a Coca Cola promotion.

EVERYTHING you have is meaningless except for the people in your life. Your wife, mother, father, brother, sister, children, etc. Even your preps will likely prove not that important, because by the time we need them we will not want the life we are forced to live.

Enjoy the here and now. Love those around you, not what those around you have, or what you have. Somewhere in the DHS inventory is a bullet with your name on it. Mine too. It may kill your body, but your spirit will move on to a better place.

One of my favorite movie lines of all time is from the movie Ghost. At the end, where Sam says to Molly, “The love inside, you take it with you”. The only fight worth the trouble is to keep the evil out, and love is the only weapon.

There is too much evil in the world to fight. Too many useful idiots working to spread it. The evil inside will be taken with them as well.

I think the vast majority of the people are getting ready to learn just how worthless all of their toys really are. And many will learn how worthless their own lives have been.

          • Ah! A sixpack of beer and a baked potato. Life is good. ;0)

            • with bacon bits.

            • yup potatoe and beer and my neighbors cat made a fine meal this evening

            • Baked sweet potato here..with purple hull peas, biscuits, and iced tea..heaven

            • The Irish seven course dinner!!!

          • During the holidays, I get a huge amount of exercise. That’s because, when I have to go into a store, OF ANY KIND, I park as far away from the building as possible. That way I don’t have to get screamed at by one of my fellow humans who MUST have that parking spot, so they can rush inside to use money they haven’t earned yet to get shit they don’t need to give to someone else who doesn’t care. All in the name of celebrating the birth of Jesus.

Good GOD: I’m not even Christian and it seems so incredibly wrong

            • The whole “Black Friday” shopping thing is truely an embarassment to me as an American. People literally stampede stores, and fight over plastic junk, some of it to give away on a holiday, that ostensibly is about love and peace. And they buy most of the crap with debt.

The main thing is this, what we see today in people’s attitudes towards materialism, is by design. Long ago, in fuedal Asia, someone figured out that one of the best ways to destroy someone was to give them everything they want, and then some.

This has been applied well in America, keeping people diverted, politically unaware, off balance, unhealthy, dumbed down, and spiritually devoid. People have been conditioned to love materialism above all else, and when thier world is crashed, the parasites will be ready to push them to the false saviour of marxism.

            • Just take a bike ay. Means you usually get parking right by the entrance. If there’s no room, just lock it up to a power-poll or a fence.
If the road gets gridlocked, you can just cycle off to the side up to the front or switch to the footpath.

Works extremely well when roadworks block up arterial routes leaving a single lane instead of 3 or 4

          • LOL one year for Christmas I proposed that myself and my friends just sit in a circle, each get a $20 bill out of our wallets, and each of us pass it to the person on our left.

            0_o

I mean… basically, right? Except I cut out the middleman there and the asset is still liquid instead of depreciating to $0 the second you un-box it…

            • LoL I am always asked what do I want for my birthday or christmas every year I say the same thing Toilet paper 🙂 1000 sheets per roll any package size will do 🙂

        • Seems that your kids could use some good work ethic, too.

      4. Babyboomers are downsizing and older.Stuff is meaningless.Younger ones love their gadgits and will just deal with less.Economy dictates.

        • 10mm, etc: I’ve read articles about retirees downsizing, which I have done in the past year. Excess furniture and household stuff not needed got donated to local charities, some sold. I prep light as several prepper friends died in recent years, and their stuff was thrown out for the most part. Lots of stuff I heard. The man with the 7 mill. worth of gold coins found dead at home probably didn’t have a will or family near. What a waste. Pass down un used things to family while you’re alive, de junk your life and enjoy the freedom of less stuff. People (many) who stuff garages with junk instead of cars are big time losers! My subdivision is full of them. Gift cards or something homemade is best for gifts, not more crap.

          • No house, no job, no career, no marriage, massive school debt at the starting gate.

Understandable they get excited over the next I-phone, or a railroad spike through their nose.

            • No house=no bullshit fraud slave mortage.
No need to get married out of gate=enjoy life and figure out life and do some things.

          • I agree laura,people in need.

      5. Daisy,

Two Newfie brothers rented a boat to go fishing. They went to one spot and then another with no luck at all. They decided they would try one more spot before they went in. Finally, they started catchin fish like mad, and soon they had filled their limit.

Before they headed back, though, the first brother said to the second,”Wait a minute! How will we find this great fishing spot again?”

The second brother said to the first, ” Oh, I know! Let’s just write a great big “X” here on the floor of the boat, cuz that’s where all the fish are underneath us!”

The first brother replied with a sneer to the second, “Don’t be stupid! This is a rental — we might not get the same boat next time…”

Y’all Beware! Need to go fishin, no doom and gloom when y’all hook up!

        • Got the joke but not the ghetto speak …..for the white people here , english translation please .

          • TR: Heres your first lesson in Ghetto Ebonics speak!

What has Four legs, runs really fast and keeps yelling HODEDO!! HODEDO!!?

ANSWER= HODEDO is Ghetto ebonics for Two black guys running down a hallway in an office center, yelling Hodedo, to get Other folks to Hold the elevator doors open till the two bros can get on!…Hodedo= Hold The Door.

            • LOL

          • T.R.,

“True that?” Sounds like ghetto speak to me. It’s not ghetto from Y’all Beware, it is dialect from a certain area. You sound like a cancer that eats away decency and encourages the moral decay of our already sick society. Unfortunately, there are many like you spreading this disease. What makes you so special in your own mind?

            • Cousin from a nearby large city grew up with the nickname “Saefoo”. Later, when we got to be young adults, I asked him how in the world did he get the nickname. He said it all started where he lived as a kid during the 70’s, as they lived in a neighborhood where the blacks and whites were about 50/50. Everytime he came out on the street, the black guys would always call out “Saefoo”, and it just stuck. I said you really know what they were saying don’t you? He said no. I was LMAO. He thought they were being friendly. I told him they were degrading him because what they were saying was,”Say Fool”. He just looked dumbfounded.

It was apparent that just before his birth our family tree splintered off somewhere.

      6. If not the FIRST, at least the second biatches!

        • looks like 13 duhh

      7. Having read this article it brings me to the conclusion that maybe, just maybe, the time has come for the barbarians to bang at the gates. I often wonder was this how the Romans behaved when Atilla came a calling. Willful blindness, self obsession, or both The problem is do we have an Aetius to give us a soft landing.

It is preoccupation with possessions, more than anything else, that prevents us from living freely and nobly. –Thoreau

        • Um…the barbarians don’t need to bang the gates, they’re already here. By the time you have read this post, another 10 will have scaled the wall, or simply knocked part of it down, to enter the realm, unchallenged.

Besides, the parasites control the keep, and gates now. And they have zero intention of stopping the flow of barbarians. We have no heroic figure to lead us out of the abyss. And, should one arise, he os she, would likely find themselves detained indefinately, or maybe just assainated.

          • True that , wetbacks are a cancer on the skin of America .

            • T.R. Is tr code for “Troll” or “Total Racist”? Either one seems to fit a clown like you. We were having a conversation on the wasted lives of the ultr-rich and their useless inbred kids but somehow you felt it was necessary to drag it down to something to do with race. I’m sure your pals at ‘Stormfront’ miss you and your comments, why not go back to them and leave the rest of us to discuss more serious issues?

            • T.R.

Thanks for removing all doubt that you’re a racist moron.

            • T.R.(Should stand for try reading)

The Irish were the wetbacks of their day as were the Italians and the Jews. Inspite of what is said, many came through Cananda instead of Ellis Island. But either way they were still not welcomed with open arms! Many southerners who speak Spanish are hard working and just looking for a better way of life. I’ll take a thousand Spanish speaking Christians over 10 Muslims any day of the week. But thats just my humble opinion.

            • Racist yes , moron no . any other questions from the PC crowd ? aren’t we all pious now . Dont like my comments , tough shit . Move on . Truth is , I or anyone else can only get under your skin if you give them the power to do so . You have made your point that you have been successfully PC indoctrinated . Another fact : Asians are one of the fastes growing minorities in this country , you dont see them crying and whining , marching , demonstrating , playing the victim like blacks and hispanics ……they are too busy working , going to school and operating businesses . I grew up on a border town , some cultures are NOT compatible ….even other south and central americans dislike Mexicans . And why is it that every other immigrant group learns English and doesnt EXPECT US to learn their language ? its only SPANISH SPEAKERS .

            • Stormfront ? I had never heard of it until now , are you a regular visiter there or are you like some jerk off missionary in foreign country trying to ” reeducate ” the heathens ? good luck asshole ….. free men like to think for themselves . You want the PC party line only ….go live in N. Korea , but here in the United States we have something called free thought .

            • TR- total racist , try reading ?
how about Truth Reviled ! because its obvious that some of the closet lefties are hearing this shit for the first time and cant conceive of the possibility that the PC propaganda and brotherly love for all men just might not be right . More Americans have been killed by illegal aliens than killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined in a lesser amount of time . They are not the downtrodden saints you make them out to be , but rather arrogant trogs that refuse to assimilate . You can take them out of the 3rd world , but you have a hell of a hard time taking the 3rd world out of them .They disdain our culture as much as Muslims do . I have only met ! mexican in my life that DIDNT know a word of spanish .just sayin

            • Question : how long did it take you to make that one up ? how many times did you have to reread that load of crap before you felt it covered everything ? do you expect anybody to actually believe your doing anything but answering a rant with a rant ?

          • Every generation has a duty to beat back the barbarians knocking at the gate — their children.

            • T.R.: Now I get it, it stands for Total Roid as in Hemorrhoid. You sound like one pissed off little redneck with a dead-end job blaming everyone else for your pathetic little life in a rundown trailer park behind Walmart. Tell me, do you pin a name tag on your shirt for work or is it already sewn onto your uniform? For me, life is great! I retired 3 years ago at age 56 with a couple of pensions (1 now and 1 next year), and lots of money in a brokerage account that I’m leaving to my kids and grandkids. Oh, and I have good medical coverage too. I do cross fit 3x a week, swim and bike 2x, go to my private gun club, and I belong to several reading/discussion groups because with and IQ of 160, I need to keep my brain active. So you see, I don’t have time to missionary work. Oh, and Spanish is my second language which I used in my profession where I made 6 figures my last three years and nearly that for the preceding seven years. Life can seem so unfair somedays can’t it! Adios muchacho y buenas suerte bruto!

            • Double post here Meterosexual8 , just in case you missed it .

Question : how long did it take you to make that one up ? how many times did you have to reread that load of crap before you felt it covered everything ? do you expect anybody to actually believe your doing anything but answering a rant with a rant ?

          • Just me, etc.: totally agree were already taken over. In New with Views, Frosty Wooldrige writes on this subject, and how this country is already destroyed/infiltrated and going down fast. Younger folks: it’s best not to breed; times are hard and kids won’t have a future unless born into the “clique” of rulers. This fascist gov is not ideal to raise a family; plus no guar. marriages last for ex: relative killed in accident at 42, friends divorced(death, divorce).

            • Frosty Wooldrige is very cogent, astute, and well spoken. He makes a good level assesment of our situation.

      8. Yes! to a degree seconded only by Rome,…but many of us are not! Wasted words on def ears.

      9. Yes

      10. TIME. The greatest gift that you can give. Because you can never get it back.

      11. I agree with a lot of what you say. We are a greedy, materialistic, sadistic and selfish civilization. But a lot of us are God loving, generous, forgiving, none judgmental and preparing for what we feel is coming.

America is still a free country (supposedly). That means our American Dream is anything that we want it to be. If we want an education to make gobs of money or if we want to buy everything we see and go into massive debt and even if we want to eat at every junk food outlet in America. It is our individual dream and our right as a free country to strive for our dream.

Whether our dream is good for us physically, mentally or materialisticly, is in question. If we shut off the TV, I-phones,internet then our people would not be exposed to the worlds materials, latest inventions or the sexual exploits of movie stars. But we would not me free either.

We are going the way of Rome and many other previous societys who allowed their citizens to gorge on what their wealth was able to buy.

Nature has a way to take care of its excesses. We will be brought down. Many will parish. Some will live to strive for life. Some will have ideas that could make our lives better. And yes! It all starts over to end again sometime in the future.

Such is the fate of Mankind.

      12. Youth is wasted on the young. Hmmmm.

        • Aint that the truth. If I knew then what I know now…..

      13. Rings a loud bell; one to be heard by my “brb”,”lol”,”OMG” generation of selfish trash that embrace ignorance and celebrate vanity to the higest….Until econimic situation brings all of us to the lowest common denominator- an empty pantry and reliance on one’s self!

      14. My pair looks GREAT!

        • Link please.

          • If you fly first class on DAL (NYSE) on the red eye from ATL to FCO you can view the delta’s.

            • Sure I could, but I have pteromerhanophobia.

            • “THEY” make a shot for that if you’re going one way to Camp Delta.

      15. Reminds me of “Alas Babylon ” when the banker killed himself because money was worthless. You have to make your own happiness. Money doesn’t do it.

        • JL: Excellent book and a good prepper guide for being written back in 1959. In fact that book is one of the reasons I moved to north central Florida after retiring from my job in Miami. Yeah, Florida is a lot more populated than it was back in 1959 but all of the SAC bases are gone and I’m a minimum of 1.5-2 hours from any major city. Thanks for the reminder.

      16. I dont know about anyone else but I worked my ass off to get where im at in life, and I’ll be dammed if I’ll give it up just because some government cant keep their shit together.

I wouldnt say im materialistic..because tthere are a lot of things i dont have and could not afford..but what I do have and worked for..I would like to keep.

I sure as hell dont want my way of life being dictated to by someone who isnt living it.

        • And the one thing I dont have..is debt. If i couldnt work for it and afford it..I didnt buy it.

          • I hear you VRF. Like you I worked hard as a carpenter to get where I’m at and I am proud of what I have because actually worked for it instead of pulling out the plastic and fucking myself on interest.

        • Nothing is new under the sun.

If you strive for this worlds goods, ‘eat, drink & be merry”, as it says –
Ecc 8:15 Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.

But remember Luke.12:19-21. Who really is wise and who is the fool. It all depends on your time horizon.

Luk 12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

There is a consequence to every choice.

      17. People are camping out for days so they can get the Iphone5 first…..camping….for days – and it’s not like it’s even something new and groundbreaking – it’s essentially an update – it’s a phone. It’s sick.

IMO that sums it all up right there. Our priorities as a nation are so vehemently skewed, it will take a massive catastrophe to put them back in line. 9/11 wasn’t even tragic enough to right this ship. That’s the scary thing.

        • Never understood waiting for phones, games, tickets and the like.

        • @Z: And they want to know why the WORLD HATES US

        • Z, I think we should point out that not everyone does stuff like that. I actually have faith that a LOT more of our fellow citizens will wake up, but ONLY after reality gives ’em a brain rattling smack to the face.

As for the fools not stocking up on actual CAMPING gear instead of camping out for a fucking phone, well, every disaster movie has to have dead people in it. I nominate them

      18. Generalizing and stereotyping 300 million people = lazy writing.

      19. The answer is yes.

        • “Under private property … Each tries to establish over the other an alien power, so as thereby to find satisfaction of his own selfish need. The increase in the quantity of objects is therefore accompanied by an extension of the realm of the alien powers to which man is subjected, and every new product represents a new potentiality of mutual swindling and mutual plundering.”- Karl Marx

“Communism does’nt work because people like to own stuff.”- Frank Zappa

          • Justme: And karl Marx should know about plunder, he was a lazy son-of-a-bitch who worked as little as possible and exploited his friends and family for all the money he could get so he didn’t have to work. Marx was a freeloader who wanted other people to support him; sound familiar? He was the perfect model for our current crop of multi-generational welfare professionals (bums).

            • Gregory8,

Yes, Karl was the opitome of an instigating slacking leech. But, you might be truely amazed at just how many people lap up his drool.

              Anonymous,

Marx was a master of double-speak, and the cultural marxists who infest Western Civilization emulate him well. Yes, his theories may be out of date, but are constantly continualy repackaged for each new generation of the lumpen proletariat, who have been conditioned to lap it up.

          • It’s amazing how Marx’s theory cleverly takes facts like the bad behaviour of agressive national power, and or the rich and powerful lordly class, and applies them to the middle class (bourgeoisie) or captialists. His theories are about 100 years out of date. In the west the proletarial (peasant) class don’t really exist. We are all bougeoisie now days.

Marx was one very clever fellow, but I thought his brothers were cleverer, particularly Groucho.

      20. “Do you have a horse in your backyard?”

Why yes, yes I do and I have to clean her poop twice a day, struggle to afford her food, vetting, etc. But in a SHTF scenario, there are few other animals that would be as useful or valuable, might I say, for transportation. They are the ultimate SUV and I can’t imagine life in the country or SHTF without one.

But seriously, the article is correct – we are WAY overindulged. Our “poor” are considered rich in so many other countries.

        • I figure that my horse will still work after an EMP ….or when petro fuels become too expensive or impossible to get ! But it is true that the cost of keeping him has probably tripled in the past 15 years .

      21. I have a generous helping of guns and ammo…does that count as being materialistic? If so, then I’m Madonna with a schwanz.

        • I have a shit load of books, not just survival books, but all sorts of them. Any time the grid goes down, my wife and I have each other for comfort and reading for entertainment.

Plus food and water. Plus guns and ammo. Remember people, if a nerd from the North can learn how to shoot, then anyone can

          • Sam…I like the way you look at things. I actually like when the power goes out around here because I heat with wood and I set up my generator and life goes on as usual while the herd frantically calls the power company and runs to the store to buy milk, bread and eggs. The poor sheep will never know what hit ’em.

            • Books….they are a true treasure!

            • I love how the utility companies are flooded with calls about the electricity being off–as if they’re not aware of the problem.

          • There was a time when a man’s books were like currency. The parasites have a list of books a mile long they will ban, so expect books to be confiscated in the near future, too. Such things will never matter to the masses.

“There will be no need to ban books, because people will not read.”- Aldous Huxley

          • SoS ~ I’m with you on the books. I just sadly had to unload a bunch of them when I moved but I’ve still got shelves and shelves of them – books are a treasure to me and I can’t seem to get used to the E-Readers!

            • daisey
i know what your saying . using a e reader is not the same as holding a book in your hand.but after you get used to them they’re great. alot of books you can get for free ( classical literature) and with a back pack solar charger i figure if i ever have to bug out i can take my library with me

            • I just inherited my sons Kindle fire. Busy downloading every free book I can. I still actually enjoy using my phone kindle app better, but can get so much on the kindle. I have way too many books. Wanted a second hand bookstore at one time, now I have to really sort them out to make room for preps. I never thought I would like reading a book other than a normal one either but waiting in line, train crossing etc. I also look at it if the power is out and my cell phone doesn’t work I better get the hell home.

            • heretic
              thanks

      22. You can’t serve two masters. What good does it do a man if he gains the whole world, but ruins his soul.

        • The love of money is the root of much evil

          • Praise God, and pass the ammunition.

          • ” the love of money”, but not money itself. There is a distinction, and many do not make it.
A person needs money to survive. And material items are a driver for some to suceed. I see nothing wrong with that.
I also personaly know some very wealthy. They are not happier. In some ways, they are more miserable. I feel happiness has to come from something other than material things. But that can’t be taught. It has to be realized. It is quite liberating when someone reaches that conclusion.
By the way, being wealthy is much better than being poor. You’ll never convince me otherwise. ha ha!
Now, how you live, act and relate to others is a differant matter.

        • @Rev Ike

is that a Clint Eastwood quote? (Pale Rider) just kidding… 🙂

      23. Michael Snyder, thank you for another excellent article. i have to totally agree with it. This debt-based economy is dying and it’s not going to be too long until all the nonpreppers have their hearts broken like no one else in the history of mankind. Materialism is only part of the death of America and it will make the fall of Rome and all other ancient empires pale in comparison. Don’t be too surprised if some are so shocked they die of heart attacks; others will simply commit suicide. There will be millions and millions of individual tragedies by the time all is said and done. As for me, I’m debt-free and I’ve been spending all my extra money on preps for years plus I pay cash for everything I get for myself. I’ve never used credit for anything in my whole life; never even had a credit card and don’t want or need one. I’ve always paid cash for all the cars I’ve ever had; Never had one financed ever. The only thing I ever wanted to use credit for was to get some rural property in the Ozarks, but my income level was too low to qualify for a mortgage. Anyone who says you need access to credit just to function in society is feeding you propaganda. if anyone is debt-free, STAY THAT WAY! just use cash to get your preps. I don’t have the stress of worrying about the next credit card bill or any of that crap. if I can’t use cash to buy something, then i don’t need the item that bad. I smell economic collapse coming and it’s going to be horrific and hell on earth. Going shopping again this weekend. Take care and keep prepping.

        • “I’ve never used credit for anything in my whole life;”

“The only thing I ever wanted to use credit for was to get some rural property”

          Yer a genius.

      24. All you really need ………. FOOD ON THE TABLE AND SHOES ON YOUR FEET…. Regards Crafty.

        • an a bed, and a woman to share it with 🙂

          • And a roof,
            a gun,
            ammo,
            a good dog,
            or a bad dog,
and the list can go on and on and…..

            • The survivalist needs just his/her mind and body. Everything else can be made from there.

      25. VRF and blackriflewarrior, I’m with you two all the way. Only 2 weeks after I graduated fro high school in 1975, I moved out of my parents house and went to Florida on my great adventure of being on my own. I’ve had my ups and downs, trials and tribulations, struggles just like anyone else who lives from paycheck to paycheck. Whenever i saw something I liked and didn’t have enough money for it at the time, I just waited until I had enough money saved up and went back for it. I’ve never been rich, but i have always survived thanks to my own wits, blood, sweat, and tears and I’M DAMNED PROUD OF THAT AND WILL NEVER APOLOGIZE TO ANYONE FOR IT! I’ve always worked and paid taxes into the system just like you two; never lived on any tax dollars in my life and not about to. The only THINGS I want out of life are my PREPS; they’re my life insurance policy for post-SHTF. I believe post-SHTF will be the greatest test in life any of us have ever faced. if all the preppers make it all the way through, we’ve got it made in the shade. All I want out of life now is to survive what’s coming all the way through and help take this country back. If I can have that, I’ll die a happy man. Take care and keep prepping.

        • braveheart..Its fun being old school isn’t it? I left highschool and got into construction and worked for guys with the mentality of work or get fired. They taught me how to work and how to be tough and survive. I joined the military at 27 to fight the first Gulf war and excelled at training, so much so that I was injured and couldn’t continue. So back to construction. Its been a hard life but I am better for it because it is feast or famine so you learn quick to save money for the lean times. I have been to the finest private combat training schools and all of it paid for with overtime or side jobs, never a dime of it from my families mouths. All of my preps and such are all from the sweat of my brow. I haven’t had a credit card for 18 years. I never fell for the debt trap but I sure have seen alot of people I know drown in it. Bless you brother and all the other Patriots that come here. The ride has just begun and like you said, we are going to be tested like nothing else ever before. I hope we are all strong enough to take it. Peace.

        • A hearty amen to that,Im with you on that!

        • Having a survival plan is key. Most folks just don’t have a clue. I have tried ti get friends at work to start prepping . Many of them have purchased a gun & a little ammo . ( probably not enough to help them for very long ….). But most have said ….”if things go south I’m coming to your place “.
While a couple may have skills that would be useful ….most would just be consumers of our preps. Fortunately ….most of them have no idea where I live ….& once things go south they would wait until things get real hairy …before deciding to move . So… I guess I really don’t have to worry about many showing up . Now after the fire …we are back on the property in our 5th wheel RV . We can bug out ….& not be here if anyone arrives! I’m now telling everyone about our plan to head for the hills ….so that they don’t try to find us . Not to be cruel ….but somewhere personal responsibility comes into the equation ! While I do believe in helping others , we can’t do it at the expense of our own survival. If anyone has any suggestions on preps that are light & take less space …please let me know . There is only a small amount of space that we have in an RV ….& weight is a major factor if we need to go mobile . The cases of canned food that I had before the fire …are not realistic if we have to travel ….

      26. nope never done that with my children,,what holidays???

      27. I’ve got to have this or I’ve got to have that. There is more to life than the stuff in the backyard or what is on the last bank statement. If you spend money for all the new things and get more and more thats OK, buy extra food, meds, basic things, etc. that will keep you alive and you don’t have to go to wally-world every day, well, YOU BAST_RD YOUR HORDING how dare you do that. Preper’s are the A-HOLES of the world, doom and gloom thats all they can think about, wrong we think about living. Well NERO played while Rome burned, just like so many sheeple and when it hit’s and they come too, and say oh my now what do I do. I’ll go down to BRW and get his stuff, WRONG ANSWER, one between the the running lights, like the answer their going to get from me and about 1 million more prepared PEOPLE. It’s to late for so many to start, because the dime is going to drop any MINUTE now.

        • Coherency isn’t your strong point is it?

      28. Yes we are.

      29. Desire what your have not what you want. Learn to live like this and you’ll be happy. Compare what you have to those less fortunate, not to those that have more.

      30. I guess by most standards my kiddo and I are “poor” but I don’t feel poor. My bills are paid without struggle, we have a comfortable amount of food and supplies and the ability to be somewhat sustainable. There isn’t much money at the end of the month but at least I don’t have month at the end of the money.

I wish I knew more people who were content instead of people who were always looking for more, more, more.

        • Amen!

        • I am content. The only thing I want more of is Preps.

Of French Huguenot former nobility that relinquished title and wealth for the love of their God. Of the men and women whose farm was the literal battlefield of Saratoga where father and son actually fought on opposite sides of the line, both dying from wounds suffered in that battle.

God help us all in these United States. The children (and parents) that produce the photographs and their commentary may be legitimate United States citizens but they are no American. Not a one of them.

American is an ethnicity and a way of life. What the “USers” seek and largely have today could not be further from what my American forefathers sacrificed, suffered, shed and spilled blood to leave me and my children as a legacy.

To the devil with them all and may my LORD God Almighty have mercy on their souls. Every last one of the greedy and useless bastards.

          • Forgot to add. This is just another sign of we are not ready to win this fight for there still is no unity. I would say that it is the human condition that makes us this way, but I know in great times there can be great unity. The time is just not upon us yet, maybe after the shit does hit the fan we will be ready to unite, and we will not see color or country as a divider. It is not just us here in the US. It is also those in Spain, it is also those in the Middle East, It is also those in Australlia, It is also those in England, Africa, India, any nation it is all of us who are being opressed by the same group of people. Why must we fight with each other with misguided anger. Aim it to those who deserve it. Maybe we will one day have the unity let us just hope it is before it is too late.

          • Most whites didn’t kill injuns because they fed whites!

More like regardless how hard whites tried to Civilize indians the indians prefered to remain Brutal Savages and not just kill whites but Torture-Rape-kidnap-savegly kill over long extended painfull methods.

To Kill is one thing. Savage Heathen Beast like tortures for 3 weeks prior to finally killing?…Just to see a human being in total savage type pain?

Who when not camping in tents or hunting buff for dinner, spent alot of free time Hunting Fellow Indians tribes. To…..Savagely kill etc right.

No Wonder indians never had time to Build towns or citys or learn civilized life etc!

I Notice today most has cars or trucks and seems to Like it alot no?……Heres Yoour new car! Built by Savage Heathen Motorcar co!!!!!…No wait! Invented And built by Whiteys!

      33. New Obama Flag Looks Eerily Like Blood-Stained Walls at Benghazi Consulate

        • I find it insulting that our president doesn’t find the true American Flag, that is flown over many buildings in this great land, a good symbol of America. No, Obama has to have one built in his own image.

Is Obama the AntiChrist? Or is he the AntiChrist?

          • @Mona: He is not the AntiChrist, but he is one of the stage hands setting up the stage for him. Soon the Antichrist will appear on the stage SOON.

            • I don’t believe in an Anti-Christ or any God that our world religions define. I believe there is a creator, but I believe that we know absolutely zilch about it.

          • Mona, if he’s not he’s sure working hard to be close second. I’m so tired of seeing his face…

          • I thought that was George W.

      34. Todays troubles in americas “culture” and society as a whole were well Planned and basically began in the 1960’s era. And the “Franfurt” school’s Kommie professors is who did it…..Read on for histroy of this “Frankfurt Ideology”.

‘Frankfurt School’ – a group of German-American [JEWISH] scholars who developed highly provocative and original perspectives on contemporary society and culture, drawing on Hegel, Marx, Nietzsche, Freud, and Weber. Not that their idea of a ‘cultural revolution’ was particularly new. ‘Until now’, wrote Joseph, Comte de Maistre (1753-1821) who for fifteen years was a Freemason, ‘nations were killed by conquest, that is by invasion: But here an important question arises; can a nation not die on its own soil, without resettlement or invasion, by allowing the flies of decomposition to corrupt to the very core those original and constituent principles which make it what it is.’

What was the Frankfurt School? Well, in the days following the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, it was believed that workers’ revolution would sweep into Europe and, eventually, into the United States. But it did not do so. Towards the end of 1922 the Communist International (Comintern) began to consider what were the reasons. On Lenin’s initiative a meeting was organised at the Marx-Engels Institute in Moscow.

The aim of the meeting was to clarify the concept of, and give concrete effect to, a Marxist cultural revolution. Amongst those present were Georg Lukacs [JEWISH] a Hungarian aristocrat, son of a banker, who had become a Communist during World War I a good Marxist theoretician he developed the idea of ‘Revolution and Eros’ — sexual instinct used as an instrument of destruction) and Willi Munzenberg [JEWISH] (whose proposed solution was to ‘organise the intellectuals and use them to make Western civilisation stink.’

Only then, after they have corrupted all its values and made life impossible, can we impose the dictatorship of the proletariat’) ‘It was’, said Ralph de Toledano [JEWISH] (1916-2007) the conservative author and co-founder of the ‘National Review’, a meeting ‘perhaps more harmful to Western civilization than the Bolshevik Revolution itself.

In the summer of 1924, after being attacked for his writings by the 5th Comintern Congress, Lukacs moved to Germany, where he chaired the first meeting of a group of Communist-oriented sociologists, a gathering that was to lead to the foundation of the Frankfurt School.

This ‘School’ (designed to put flesh on their revolutionary programme) was started at the University of Frankfurt in the Institut für Sozialforschung. To begin with school and institute were indistinguishable. In 1923 the Institute was officially established, and funded by Felix Weil (1898-1975) [JEWISH]. Weil was born in Argentina and at the age of nine was sent to attend school in Germany. He attended the universities in Tübingen and Frankfurt, where he graduated with a doctoral degree in political science. While at these universities he became increasingly interested in socialism and Marxism. According to the intellectual historian Martin Jay, the topic of his dissertation was ‘the practical problems of implementing socialism.’

Carl Grünberg, [JEWISH] the Institute’s director from 1923-1929 was an avowed Marxist, although the Institute did not have any official party affiliations. But in 1930 Max Horkheimer [JEWISH] assumed control and he believed that Marx’s theory should be the basis of the Institute’s research. When Hitler came to power, the Institut was closed and its members, by various routes, fled to the United States and migrated to major US universities—Columbia, Princeton, Brandeis, and California at Berkeley.

The School included among its members the 1960s guru of the New Left Herbert Marcuse [JEWISH] (denounced by Pope Paul VI for his theory of liberation which ‘opens the way for licence cloaked as liberty’), Max Horkheimer [JEWISH], Theodor Adorno [JEWISH], the popular writer Erich Fromm [JEWISH], Leo Lowenthal [JEWISH], and Jurgen Habermas – possibly the School’s most influential representative.

Basically, the Frankfurt School believed that as long as an individual had the belief – or even the hope of belief – that his divine gift of reason could solve the problems facing society, then that society would never reach the state of hopelessness and alienation that they considered necessary to provoke socialist revolution. Their task, therefore, was as swiftly as possible to undermine the Judaeo-Christian legacy. To do this they called for the most negative destructive criticism possible of every sphere of life which would be designed to de-stabilize society and bring down what they saw as the ‘oppressive’ order. Their policies, they hoped, would spread like a virus—‘continuing the work of the Western Marxists by other means’ as one of their members noted.

To further the advance of their ‘quiet’ cultural revolution – but giving us no ideas about their plans for the future – the School recommended (among other things):

        1. The creation of racism offences.
        2. Continual change to create confusion
        3. The teaching of sex and homosexuality to children
        4. The undermining of schools’ and teachers’ authority
        5. Huge immigration to destroy identity.
        6. The promotion of excessive drinking
        7. Emptying of churches
        8. An unreliable legal system with bias against victims of crime
        9. Dependency on the state or state benefits
        10. Control and dumbing down of media
        11. Encouraging the breakdown of the family

One of the main ideas of the Frankfurt School was to exploit Freud’s [JEWISH] idea of ‘pansexualism’ – the search for pleasure, the exploitation of the differences between the sexes, the overthrowing of traditional relationships between men and women. To further their aims they would:

        • attack the authority of the father, deny the specific roles of father and mother, and wrest away from families their rights as primary educators of their children.
        • abolish differences in the education of boys and girls
        • abolish all forms of male dominance – hence the presence of women in the armed forces
        • declare women to be an ‘oppressed class’ and men as ‘oppressors’

Munzenberg summed up the Frankfurt School’s long-term operation thus:

‘We will make the West so corrupt that it stinks.’

The School believed there were two types of revolution: (a) political and (b) cultural. Cultural revolution demolishes from within. ‘Modern forms of subjection are marked by mildness’. They saw it as a long-term project and kept their sights clearly focused on the family, education, media, sex and popular culture.

        The Family

The School’s ‘Critical Theory’ preached that the ‘authoritarian personality’ is a product of the patriarchal family – an idea directly linked to Engels’ Origins of the Family, Private Property and the State, which promoted matriarchy. Already Karl Marx [JEWISH] had written, in the “Communist Manifesto”, about the radical notion of a ‘community of women’ and in The German Ideology of 1845, written disparagingly about the idea of the family as the basic unit of society. This was one of the basic tenets of the ‘Critical Theory’ : the necessity of breaking down the contemporary family. The Institute scholars preached that ‘Even a partial breakdown of parental authority in the family might tend to increase the readiness of a coming generation to accept social change.’

Following Karl Marx, the School stressed how the ‘authoritarian personality’ is a product of the patriarchal family—it was Marx who wrote so disparagingly about the idea of the family being the basic unit of society. All this prepared the way for the warfare against the masculine gender promoted by Marcuse under the guise of ‘women’s liberation’ and by the New Left movement in the 1960s.

They proposed transforming our culture into a female-dominated one. In 1933, Wilhelm Reich [JEWISH], one of their members, wrote in The Mass Psychology of Fascism that matriarchy was the only genuine family type of ‘natural society.’ Eric Fromm was also an active advocate of matriarchal theory. Masculinity and femininity, he claimed, were not reflections of ‘essential’ sexual differences, as the Romantics had thought but were derived instead from differences in life functions, which were in part socially determined.’ His dogma was the precedent for the radical feminist pronouncements that, today, appear in nearly every major newspaper and television programme.

The revolutionaries knew exactly what they wanted to do and how to do it. They have succeeded.

        • I read this a few months back and it was/is VERY SCARY.

      35. Are you ready for Fratricidal Hostilities?

This administration, and all the governments put in place By TPAB are pushing for us to fight amongst our selfs and brothers alike..they are feeding the racial tensions, the brown skin against the white the black against the white the yellow against the black or white, and so many of us are feeding right into it? the government(s) run media are the tools they use, and We ignoring the fact that while we are buisy fighting amongst ourselfs, they are pulling the rug out from under us all.

All these wars and all this hate is their doing and thier plan..hate the US hate the egyptians, hate the mexicans, hate cuba, hate germans, hate black, hate white, hate China..japan..etc..

This is the wake up call..we need to all pull together against the powers against us all..it is the division they seek, and it is the division that will destroy us all by our own doing enfluenced by their propaganda.

wake up folks..time is running out

        • Oh I forgot to add…. another part of this ploy is to get you to hate the people with money and wealth..and material objects too..its all part of the you against your neighbor ploy that they hope will implode this country and many other countries with jealousy, hatered, and greed.

its alreadly well at work, and growing by the day..look at how many nationalities hate the americans for what we have..or the stories printed to fan those flames

        • I really only hate one black man. No need to mention his name since it is false.

      36. Difficult question because right now there is a stark difference between technology now and even a hundred years ago. People that lived in the past did not even have flush toilets, hot and cold running water, visual entertainment such as TV or the internet, and so much more. I have long equated the American culture to the cartoon Jetsons in which these cartoon characters complain about pushing buttons. Meterialism centuries ago was basically how much food and sex they had and could get. Now it is everything that can make someone’s life as effortless as possible. There are of course many exceptions like the good old prepper.

I would say that this culture is the laziest ever, easily.

        • I must agree and I must confess-guilty as charged.
I make myself remember what granny and granddad worked with and without..it instills a reality check when I’m bitching about something ridiculously callous..spoiled??
Oh, yes. And one doesn’t have to be wealthy, which I am so far removed from it’s not funny, to be spoiled.
The young today have no reference to hard times experienced by our grandparents and parents in the days of the great depression–that’s the problem.

      37. Stay away from metropolitan areas late October and in November.

        • Why?

          • @ JustMe. What Larry says is good advice if anything occurs. Major urban areas are death traps when SHTF.

            • Yeah, but the statement sounded a bit specific, was just wondering if something specific is supposed to occur.

        • O.K. We have Halloween and Election Day.

Trick or Treat on both days, right?

        • Agreed.

      38. The guy who invented the alarm clock was wrong.

The rooster was right all along!

(I have more big fat maggots to feed my chickens than bill gates has money.)

All because God made it like that and that
‘s the Way it works (in the long run).

Anybody can short run, but long running takes vision beyond the wallet…

      39. Too true,Glad I never was materialistic. I got my rifle, pistol, ammo and stash of preps,I’m happy with only that because thats all that matters to me and is important

      40. VRF: Yes very true, of they want us all divided etc. But the main problem in any solution where we all kinda come togehter and as Rodney King(LA Riots 1994?) said…”Can’t we all just….Get along?”

Well no not really. Because face facts. All the msm preaching on we are all so equal etc. Is total BS.

People Are supposed to be 100% equal in Law and Bill of Rights ways. But in many and perhaps even Most other ways, all races and types and cultural ways are Not equal nor same.

America was called the “Melting Pot”…And it was for awhile. Originally prior to mass imigration and especially Illeagle brand of it. The usa was primarily made up of European Christian White folks.

The diferences between various white euro nations were no wheres near the huge differences we see today between various browns and blacks etc etc as you wrote.

The prime main differences between earlier euro-whites was Languages-National customs-foods-and the like. But regardless which nation a white came here from, made little overall difference.

Once they learned to speak english, the reast was easy.

I know of the various clashes between irish and anglos and other clashes like that. But when it came to buisness, facts is whites have more in common with Other whites period.

Todays browns and blacks remain Fiercly in lock step as a group based on racial stuf. That dont include whites who still make up at least 2/3 of america.

I too agree it would be devesating to tptb if most folks came together as one against the ptb types. But I dont believe it will occure. I also dont think very many browns or blacks Wants it to happen.

Too many folks in 2012 forgot or never were taught “Thou Shall Not COVET”…..Alot of it is going on today. And when aprox 1/2 of Any racial group is Illiterate it is alot easier for the Ruler class evil bastards to convince and Train that group to Hate whites. Even hate enough to Murder in mass numbers so to Take what we has.

Blame Whitey is name of their game. So act as a single group to win etc?…I dont see it any time soon.

PS: it was also written 2000 yrs ago that end time scenarios will be “Husband against Wife-Father vs son vs sister vs brother vs Neighbor…Kingdom vs Kingdom(countries and govnts) and Nation vs Nation(Races).

It was spoken by Christ its in new testement. Seems to be proof solid biblical prophecy is comming true and in Our times!

        • @ A.M.
No matter who wins in November, our nation is headed into the abyss. Our Representatives and Senators have embraced the enchantment of money and power. Our Surpreme Court has made a mockery of Our Constitution. Our President, a subveriant Leader of the Free World.
And if you look at them all, (OUR LEADERS), there is not one ethnic or racial group that is left out. OUR Brothers and Sisters have sold us down the river. If we are to win, we must overcome the racial and ethnic divide. Not to forget the blood, sweat and lives, which built this country and enriched it, but to say we are all AMERICANS, and soon we will come to take Our Country Back.

          • Slingshot: Sounds swell…So let me know how well it works when YOU go convince Blacks and lib kommie types to Join with Whiteys and “save” Our usa ok?

From my experience of over 40yrs now of trying to awaken ALL types/races etc, I dont believe You or anyone else will be very sucesfull at such a project.

Best be extra carefull too if You are white, as many you try to include will likely be Very Hostile!

Good place to begin is Detroit, since it Was Lib kommies Ground Zero aprox.50 yrs ago.

PS: I will add a quote from 1912 england guy that Proves my points ok…See next Post from me…

            • As Promiced!! Heres a very informative Quote from era of 1912 in England!…But Concerning the usa too!

QUOTE BY:…ISREAL COHEN, 1912…A Kommie in England then. And Very Famous a guy in kommie USA-CP(usa kommie party) circles even Today..!

“We must realize that our party’s most powerful weapon is racial tension. By propounding into the consciousness of the dark races that for centuries they have been oppressed by the whites, we can mold them to the program of the Communist Party. In America we will aim for subtle victory. While inflaming the Negro minority against the whites, we will endeavor to install in the whites a guilt complex for their exploitation of the Negroes. We will aid the Negroes to rise in prominence in every walk of life, in the professions and in the world of sports and entertainment. With this prestige, the Negro will be able to intermarry with the whites and begin a process which will deliver America to our cause.” Israel Cohen, a leading Communist in England, in his ‘A Racial Program For The 20th Century (1912).’ Quoted by Congressman Abernathy, Congressional Record, June 7, 1957, p. 8559.”

Compare That to what we see Today Permeating Every Facet of culture-society-life-Govnt-School texts-Advertizers-and 99% of everyday life in USA!

READ IT at LEAST TWICE! So it Sinks IN Deep! They Planned it back in 1912!…Oh did I mention just as with the “Frankfurt” Gang of Parasitic Swindler Scoundrels, Mr. “IRSEAL COHEN” is Also….A jewish fellow/Kommie.

Yes it is very hard to admit stuf we was taught to think or believe was and Is wrong. Especially when deals with the Forbidden “J” word/name.

But It Is what It Is…Dont insinuate me or a few Others at this site here are racists or worse simply due to we try to Awaken all of You folks to Factual Truth.

Why is it so easy to believe so many “Other” things turned out to be really Lies?…Yet so imposible to think likewise on These issues or agendas?

Remember these types(kommies) were Also granted “Free Will” to choose. It Aint my or others fault they choose to be swindlers and kommies and Destroyers of entire Nations!

You Must Know Who the real Enemys are, or elsewise how can We Fight Them Properly?

            • Thanks A.M. for being straight up. Not good hanging on to false hope. It is what it is. If the time comes when we all make our own laws, I will have a clean conscience for the things I will have to do. The choice was thiers.

      41. Obama says he learned his lesson being in office in 4 years and you cant change Washington from the inside, but he jams healthcare down our throats and nobody wants this and he still does it and doesn’t learn a damn thing. Obama is beyond stupid, many people are being tricked. why don’t Medicaid help the people who have disabilities, but have millions and billions of bribes the politicians make with our money under the table. Come on you know the supreme court judges were bribed with millions of dollars into a Swiss account under the table. This is so obviously unconstitutional and everyone knows it. they screw us middleclass. a guys said he cant afford it he has to put gas in his car, but tried to get his house refinanced but the banks would not do it! That’s funny the banks just got 40 billion a month to clear bad debt. They are screwing us and I’m surprised you liberals are not the ones who are revolting against the government. you want Obama in office but go after the buddies Obama is protecting! makes no sense

        • I could really use some healthcare right now. My insurance doesn’t cover it regardless of 10 years worth of payments. I will gladly give a good percentage of my paycheck to know that myself and my family will ALWAYS be taken care of in the event of poor health or life threatening conditions.

      42. Need? Need has nothing to do with anything. I don’t a Corvette. But, I got one. Love that Bill of Rights!!!

        • Agree I don’t need a spare 50 Cal I have 2 spares. Just in case one doesn’t go with my hat.

      43. T.R. says:
#1 Got the joke but not the ghetto speak …..for the white people here , english translation please .

#2 True that, wetbacks are a cancer on the skin of America .

        LADIES AND GENTLEMEN
        – Please adjust your dial to “white speak” –

This is radio free America speaking:
        “News Flash”
Ghetto Speak for White People Needs An English Translation.

After two intense glasses of wine, Y’all Beware! relinquishes his hold on wetbacks so they can now slide to T.R.’s home.

If you were real in your verbal abuse (#1 & #2) I hope you find a size 12 up your ass for the next few weeks.

Y’all Beware! After that, I won’t be able to confuse your ass with your mouth.

      44. T.R.

Just as a reminder, Y’all Beware! says:

        Don’t ever confuse
        Pomposity with dignity
Nor blue jeans with a professional.

If that is “ghetto speak”, put some shit in your pipe and smoke it!

      45. I have to stand up for wetbacks! My family owned a large cotton operation in W Texas and without the wb’s, we would have been in trouble. So next time you put that grape, apple, orange, or any vegetable in your mouth, or a nice cotton shirt on a wetback more than likely picked it for you as the white folks are too proud to do that work!

I lived in very nice area raising my daughter alone and I battled with my daughter as the neighbors constantly flaunted their new clothes, phones etc and she wanted them as well. We made it through. Yep, they had more than we did. Once I came home and found my wealthy neighbors using my garden hose to help fill their pool!

Wondered why my water bill would double some years..lol, and even called the water company to ask what was up!

Well, shtf in that neighborhood with floods and I was basically the last homeowner standing, all else had walked away from their mortgages and went bankrupt. Me, ended up doubling my money on the house and went and paid for another and now own free and clear.

Geez, I didnt miss any of that material stuff either.

        • Brain dead idiot

        • “Well, shtf in that neighborhood with floods and I was basically the last homeowner standing, all else had walked away from their mortgages and went bankrupt. Me, ended up doubling my money on the house and went and paid for another and now own free and clear. ”

That’s because you’re thief and criminal you stupid bitch. hello?

You give under the table jobs to illegal aliens.

          1. You have stolen the tax money that you should rightfully pay to the govt for employing people.

          2. You have stolen that tax money from someone else that had to pay the govt the money you didn’t.

          3. You have aided and abetted a person that’s here criminally.

          4. You have aided your illegal stealing someone’s identity to be here.

          5. You have aided your illegal stealing money from the person whose identity they stole.

          6. You have aided an illegal stealing public benefits he’s not entitled to.

          7. You stole a living from an American by giving their job to an illegal.

          8. Then you ripped off Americans that buy your bullshit by charging them full retail price for something you’ve produced through thievery and lies.

In a just world, when shtf, you’ll be made someone’s whore.

          • Wetback is a derogatory term used to describe Mexicans who have immigrated illegally to the United States by swimming or wading across the Rio Grande–the river that separates the U.S. from Mexico. U.S. Border Patrol began using the word in 1944 to refer to illegal Mexican immigrants who were easily identifiable by their wet clothing.
In 1954, the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service made the word “wetback” official by naming the mission to remove illegal immigrants from the United States, Operation Wetback . In response to the increase of immigrants during the early 1950s, the agency developed the program to force immigrants (particularly Mexicans) back to their home countries. Aproximately one million Mexican Americans were deported in one year.

Today the term “wetback” is often used to express animosity towards Central American or Latin American immigrants–legal and illegal–who do not speak English. Meanwhile, in an attempt to reclaim the word, some Mexican-Americans call themselves Los Mojados, meaning “the wet ones.” Note the LEGAL AND ILLEGAL part.

            • Your history lesson is really great and all that, but it really has nothing to do with anything and uh no,

‘wetback’ is used to describe the people that SWAM across the Rio Grande to get here illegaly.

            • Yea, wetback literally means illegal.

            • Thats what happens to groups that REFUSE to assimilate . They become hated by the citizens of the host nations . Seriously

            • Well, that sounds like the “official” version of WB. The truth is, they sweat because they work their asses off and always have “wet backs” and that’s the “unofficial” version of Wetback!

        • Farmers Daughter: You used the exact Same liberal Kommies dems argument of “White Folks are TOO Proud to do that work”……Yet of ALL folks YOU should know FULL well, that besides the Facts that type work You dont pay much for doing and Thats main reason you hire illeagles etc,

And You also should be FULLY aware that ONLY a MAXIMUM of 2% that is TWO PERCENT! of ALL work/jobs performed by Illeagles, and even Legit mexican migrants consists of what is called “BEND OVER LABOR” such as You spoke of on veggie farms and Cotton picker jobs etc…

ONLY TWO PERCENT Total of the Tens of MIllions of illeagles and leagles that come to usa.

This means Ether, Huge Numbers collect “Welfare” type fed/state cash etc…OR!…The other 98% aka NINTY EIGHT Percent Are working Jobs White folks Do Want!

On Avg Most “wetbacks” as some calls em….Get paid alot Higher rates doing Home Construction and many other well paying jobs. I Mean like say aprox $15 per hr pay.

I Know today $15 per hr aint alot…BUT MANY WHITES WILL do and DID do those type jobs. Prior to the massive Antiwhite Push with NAFTA etc.

I find it dificult to respect any farmers or their Daughters who hire(If you do?) Illeagles, or pay cash low pay to avoid worker comp and taxes etc…While White workers has to pay all that stuf.

Perhaps thats more the true problems?…Along with Employers gaming system and makeing excuses to reason to hire ileagles etc. NOT very Patriotic I think.

I wonder what farmers or others plans to do After Unions get their way and once “Amnesty” for 30 Million illeagles sets in, unions can then go fwd on plans to Unionize mexicans, and Tomato pickers will get paid $35+ per hr With aprox $45-50 per hr in Bennifits!?

I Predict you will be out of a farm pronto when 99% of americans cannot afford $5-10 per One single tomato eh.

Or A “Cotton” Tshirt avg cost is aprox $25 each or More for well made shirt!….Probobly be better if Now pay enough to hire us Citizens and avoid it all.

Personally I aint buying none of the mass of arguments to allow Millions of ANY country to enter illeagly and refuse to leave while Demanding much stuf from….Whiteys!

          • Sir, I have no idea where your getting your info or what part of the country your living. But, my daily experience is young Americans under 30(color does matter) are lazy as hell! Most males WILL NOT work a full days labor! Yes, if its $30.00 an hour. But they want that job walking in the door with no experience. The don’t want to work from the ground up. Plus Mexicans getting top dollar, and more then White Americans. I would love to see that day! Cause its not happening!! If you said UNDERCUT White Americans, yes. But get paid more, come on, what greedy businessmen would be so foolish!

          • I’m one of those people who literally had my job stolen from me by a friggin hispanic illegal. I worked cleaning houses with another woman, it was just the 2 of us. I made $20/hour cleaning up to 6 houses a day (4-7 bedroom houses – no small task). I worked through my pregnancy to the 32nd week, and then I had to take leave because I had to go on bed rest. Anyways, I go to see about getting back to work after about 2 or 3 months, and I find out that my boss gave my job to an illegal alien from Guatemala named Margarita who actually swam over here with her husband and oldest daughter when she was pregnant, and she had her 2nd daughter in an American cornfield. Instant benefits! Making $20 and hour and getting food stamps, cash assistance, energy assistance, medical assistance, the works. Her husband makes similar money in construction. I tried to just suck it up and be nice, and I had my boss and Margarita over for my daughter’s birthday party a little bit after I found all this out. Her 2 daughters stole 5 of our DVD’s and 2 books. Friggin illegals.

          • Well, I am sure most of you have not had experience in raising anything, so how can you possibly judge us. As a matter of fact, we dealt with the border patrol and did pay a fee for them to come work for us. We housed them and fed them as well. There were ones that would show up on our farms for work, sometimes they didnt have shoes. I dont speak anything but the truth, from experience, not because it’s demo or republican. Look at the farmer who destroyed all of his tomatoes as he could not find anyone to pick them. So, lets do this your way, and food will become so expensive you wont be able to buy it.

We also set up a shed with water and shoes that we got from the thrift stores and in spanish wrote borderpatrol, move on.

Your exactly what we need in this country. We are full of peeps like you and look were we are. Crashing and heading to a slow burn.

        • We would be better served as a nation if we had OUR teenagers do that . With the economy the way it is ….we dont need wetbacks right now . just sayin .
We dont need them helping destroy our work ethic by being here . We are lazy enough without their help thank you .

      46. i don’t think that we’re any “more materialistic” than any other society… we simply have more things to feed an inherent spiritual flaw or short-coming: greed otherwise known as coveteousness… the idea that one wants what one doesn’t have that someone else does… in our capitalistic system, the “havers” are the producers and the “havees” are those they target with advertizing… don’t misunderstand me, i like capitalism and i like being able to turn a profit for my product but our nation in particular has gone way beyond simply satisfying basic needs on both sides of the capitalistic fence….

      47. I feel that most preper’s have only the basics, want we need to live in the future. Oh it’s nice to have some extra things, but the basic stuff is the best. The preparations we have is our parachute, to save us in the fall, our landing is going to be alot softer than most. Those that did nothing to prepare and surive, and there will be many, will blame us because we stock piled everything. They will not blame themselves, they can’t blame themselves for not seeing the hand writing on the wall and prepare. Some will want to trade their toys for food or what ever, others will demaned it, while others will just want to take it. In all those ways we are going to have to deal with them in some way, the choice on that, rest with each and everyone of us. I for one have worked hard my whole life for the things I have and I will not let some IDIOT take it. I might share in passing with some, but again they will not take it. I started working at 15 in the oil patch and still do 47 years latter, from Point Barrow to West Texas to West Virgina and everywhere in between. To many long hard days so just to throw up my hands and say here it is, that is not going to happen. After I’m dead it dosen’t matter, but some will know I was here.

      48. Nevada man dies with $200 in bank, $7M in gold hidden inside home

        Published September 17, 2012

        | Associated Press

A Carson City, Nev., recluse whose body was found in his home at least a month after he died left only $200 in his bank account.

But as Walter Samaszko Jr.’s house was being cleared for sale, officials made a surprise discovery: gold bars and coins valued at $7 million.

Samaszko was “anti-government,” Carson City’s Nevada Appeal reported, and a few conspiracy theory books were found in the home along with several guns.

“He never went to a doctor,” Glover told the newspaper. “He was obsessed with getting diseases from shots.”

Samaszko also had stock accounts of more than $165,000 and another $12,000 in cash at the house.

I like this guys materialistic ways!!!!

THIS is the TRUE american materialism.

NOT collecting a bunch of chinese plastic garbage, and a poorly built house!!

      49. Things to come to all of us(as gubmints go broke with their pension funds)

CA Senate Bill 1234 creates a new California ‘entitlement’ by forcing all CA businesses with 5 or more employees that do not have a government-defined employee-pension mechanism to ‘join’ and ‘contribute’ to this new ‘safety net’. Withholding is approximately 3 percent of an employees pay. Employers may be requird to contribute more in the future. Got 100 or more employees? You’ve got 6 months to join or face fines.

Our children wont have to worry about being “materialistic”

They will not have the wealth for it.(we didnt either, but we have the printing press, and credit cards)

      50. blackriflewarrior, to me it’s an honor to be old school. You and I both were taught the right way to live and how to make it in this country. People like you and I plus the other people on this forum will pass the test with flying colors. I believe all preppers will be alive and standing tall in post-SHTF. Let’s all hope nothing happens in October; the more time we have and the more supplies we can get for ourselves the better our chances of long-term survival. Like I said earlier, millions and millions of nonpreppers will drop like flies because THEY FAILED TO PREP! They live in the biggest fantasy world they’re too distracted to see the writing on the wall, they have no idea how fragile our society has become. When TSHTF, a lot of people will have heart attacks or even commit suicide within the first 24 hours. Millions and millions of individual tragedies will take place within the first month. it’s going to be like nothing anyone has ever seen before. I dread what’s coming and i know everyone else here does too. But I’m standing tasll and still getting everything I can while there’s still time and these FRNs will still get me anything. Take care and keep prepping.

      51. Screw Me

      52. Okay, I have a lot of problems with this article. Marriage…I think it is more intelligent and logical to wait to marry and have kids once you are able to provide for your family in a stable, consistent, condition. Unless you come from a rich family, a 24 year old newly wed with a baby on the way will likely struggle to provide for that child. If you are struggling to provide right off the bat, you are in no condition to take on the responsibility of a child. And the irony of marriage is that marriage itself is a materialistic value. Why do you need two rings, and a piece of paper to proclaim your life long love for one another? It is just a tradition that has been passed down through the ages.

Second. Entertainment watching. I agree, it can separate a family, it can cause us to be obese, to overeat and to exercise less. It IS addicting and I am surely addicted to it. I have a deep love for television/movies, but I also craft stories myself. I wish to be a novelist or even a screen writer one day. It will likely be my career. How many authors do you know that rarely pick up a book? How many screen writers barely watch television?

        • David,consider this…
Marriage was and is a social institution! It gives stability to those little souls who we used to sacrifice for but, now, look at as being a burden or princes and princesses too golden to discipline! The facts are already out on fatherless males and the long term effects. But! What is overlooked are the effects on adult males! A man who is married to a woman treats her and their children quite differently then someone just “living” together. Just as the children who refer to the “sperm donor” as John or Bob instead of “Dad!” Have a completly different view of life. If this generation is too selfish to sacrifice for the next at least have the BALLS to admit it! Blaming marriage and that “piece of paper” has nothing to do with personal shotcomings!!!

          • And guys…when she says, “it’s okay, I’m on the pill”….you are real stupid or desperate??? and could get caught with an obligation for that boy/girl because paternity tests are very cheap these days..
So, if that ‘encounter’ is good enough that you don’t double guard against pregnancy, you may just find yourself issued by a judge to pay the next 18 years for that great sex!!!!
            We’re all adults here.

How DID I get on this topic??

          • Wow, I have never had a conversation with someone that completely read me wrong. I highly suggest for you to never enter a field of psychology. There are no shortcomings. My parents never married and they spent a wonderful 40 years of life together until dad passed on. Marriage is a piece of paper. To deny that would be foolish and would establish much ignorance. It is socially binding. Not permanent. You can propose and marry without ever seeing a priest or having a ceremony. The ONLY difference is it won’t be on paper. Or “official”.

            • I disagree, I have been married for 10 years and that “piece of paper ” does mean something. We were young when we had our first child but we worked our butts off. My parents were 17 & 18 when they got married 37 years later they are still going strong. These kids forget it’s not the wedding that matters. The marriage matters. If your parents were together for 40 years why didn’t they get married? Why live in sin?

        • As a former teacher…don’t try telling anyone the stigma of no daddy living in the home isn’t detrimental to the development of that child..they’ll laugh at you, David.

          • Why do you people seem so convinced that just because a couple aren’t married that they do not live together? My mother and father were together for 40 years. And guess what! They never married, officially. They loved each other, they loved me and dad died in her arms. They never separated, they never lived apart. They just didn’t like the idea of marriage. They thought it was silly to rely on a piece of paper to express their love. They felt like it was more of a contract with fine print than a loving gesture. They were married on their own terms and in their own way. I will admit that they bought rings for each other, but it wasn’t necessary.

            • David- a few clues leap out from your comment. You said your mother and father lived together for 40 years and loved each other. That’s wonderful. But something WAS missing from the relationship.
              Commitment.
You said ‘they were married on their own terms…’ That is exactly what is wrong in society today. Everyone wants things on their own terms. What that attitude really reflects is selfishness. No matter how one may dance around the idea with wordplay, selfishness is what it is.
I’m not suggesting that your parents were bad people. But they did have at least one flaw of character. Selfishness, manifesting itself in the refusal to make a commitment. The piece of paper does make a difference. Not in how they loved one another, but in whether they were willing to fully accept the responsibilities of a commitment.
They weren’t. They, like so many of us today, wanted things only on their own terms.
Marriage, for thousands of years, and in scores of historically recorded cultures, has required a publicly proclaimed and (to varying extents) legally binding contract. Whether it was recorded on paper, papyrus, animal skins, tree bark, or etched onto sea shells, the marriage contract demonstrated a COMMITMENT from the spouses to one another. And to society.
It did not have any effect on the love between the parties. It showed their willingness to set aside certain rights or priveleges for themselves and committ them to another.
Sadly, today we live in a world that wants no binding obligations. No commitments that can’t be easily repudiated. This is a reflection of our selfishness. And that focus on ‘self’ …that love of self above all others, is at the root of ALL of the problems in society today.
I intend no insult to you, or to your parents. I’m sure they were great parents and gave you much that will help you in life. And, I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t acknowledge my own guilt in the area of selfishness. (there’s plenty of it there) Still, we should recognize the problem for what it is.
“We have met the enemy, and it is us!”

      53. If you get rid of all that junk, how are you gonna baracade the front door ?

      54. I love how I point out inconsistencies in the article and am censored because of it. This site can be more biased than a political party.

      55. The debt in this country is staggering, we need to go back to creating wealth though product and value innovation and creation and not financial instruments.

      56. “One of the strangest disparities of history lies between the sense of abundance felt by older and simpler societies and the sense of scarcity felt by the ostensibly richer societies of today.” Ideas Have Consequences, Richard Weaver (1948)

      57. This just in, breaking news –

“Romney releases 2011 tax returns, paid $1.9 million”

Am I the only one who immediately thinks, “WHO F**KING CARES??”

I understand that the mass of sheeple that infest this nation are waiting with baited breath at every “development” in this quadrennial farce. They lap things like this up, much the same as they do fried chicken by the bucket. That is, between episodes of Dancing with the Stars and Man vs. Food.

Go back to sleep America, your government is in control. Go back to sleep America, here look; American Gladiators is on! You are FREE to do what WE TELL YOU!

        • The only thing this election is good for, is generating vast amounts of comedy material for radio shows like Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me!

          • Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh come to mind.

      58. Based upon the world-wide obsession with the new i-phone, I would say that it is more than just the US. Japanese waiting 3 days in line to get a new phone.

        • The Japanese are light years beyond us when it comes to group think, that’s for sure. Sure our schools are “conformity factories” by traditional American standards, but they’ve got nothing on old Nippon.

        • 3 days in line these people have way to much time on your hands.

      59. No, America isn’t the most materialist society in the history of the world. It’s stupid to say things like that without a way to measure materialism. The whole world is materialistic. That’s true no matter how rich or how poor people are. I remember hearing an African pastor being asked about the biggest problem in his church and he said, “Greed.”

        • I understand what you are getting at , but let me ask you this : If rationing of gas , food , etc .and everyday items were in limited supply , would people today be able to handle that without rioting , violence ,demonstrations etc ?

I ask that because that very thing happened during WW2 . We are not the same people than those that went through that .that generation had no ingrained sense of entitlement .just sayin

      60. In answer to the question : YES
My personal opinion on why that is : because we have had it too easy for too long . The great depression , rationing and shortages during WW2 , etc . and if you go back even further , no social security , no welfare ….no income tax ….you were just on your own …period , thats why families were closer and stronger then . Those things are unknown and inconcevable to people today . They now think the world owes them a living simply because they exist . The country as a whole is in for a rude awakening soon .

      61. Greetings Everyone!
After reading the Topic(and part way down the comments,re-reading it)I’m at a loss as to why comments had to go from the UBER-RICH and their “offspring’s livestyle” to the other side of the coin.(super well paid trolls perhaps?)The U.R. have always lived this way(Even the Bible speaks of this topic a few times). They(the U.R.)ARE different from the rest of us from their very birth.Best private(read exclusive)schools(where the mindset of being superior and thus better than the 98% is pounded into them)to the best services the world has to offer,ad nauseam. For the vast majority of the U.R. it’s a Amoral,Asexual, and indifferent to God and fellow man party lifestyle.Massive Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico?Just sail the family Yacht\fly the family plane to other nicer places for sun and fun.No waiting in line to be searched by clowns at public places for them.School is just a place to make “good connections” when it finally comes time to receive a job offer with six or seven figures to start(usually before graduation). As an Example of these, just look at our two fine choices for President this year. We’ve seen how the current man cared for needs of the 98% of the country(you and me)vs.the Bankers. The Challenger,a man who hides the bulk of his wealth off-shore(like so many of his contemporaries in his 1% bracket)so as to avoid paying the TRUE amounts due the government.Any wonder then, even the folks in the Ghetto finally understand how the game is played.Never doubt for a moment that The U.R. hate the rest of us,period. It’s how they run,are trained and continue to act.Keep that in mind as you “keep your head down” and “prep”.THE CHANGE though,is coming. But God permits our modern day Sodomites(and that includes the “super-fine” preachers that run multimillion dollar “mega-churches!)total free will to demonstrate why they’re undeserving of any mercy on his part in his due time.
In the meantime,”setting something by” continues to take on greater urgency.’Cuz the 1% ain’t gonna care what happens to us at ALL.
All the Best to All Here
        GFG

        • Its called the Hitler Youth syndrome . They are fed a load of crap and eat it all up . They only see that they are wrong and everything they were told is a lie when they see the Russians lifting the red flag over Berlin and witness the rape and pillage of the ” superior unbeatable ” fatherland . No sympathy here .

      62. Let these arrogant little nobodies have all the toys and shiny objects they want. It’s just more for me to take from them later

        • Thats just it …….they think and act like they are king shit …….but they are too arrogant to understand that THEY will be the FIRST targets and casualties in a collaps .

      63. For anyone disagreeing with my opinion on marriage…read the origins of marriage. Read about why it came to be. Research it and come back and attempt to make the same argument with a straight face. You won’t be able too unless your some type of religious extremist.

        • *you’re*

        • People push the button because it gives them the illusion that their vote counts and you actually give a crap about what they think ……just have fun with it , stir up the pot .

      64. When the idea that exponential growth in the economy was not only possible, but desirable, materialism became necessary. What comes off the assembly line MUST be consumed, or the line grinds to a halt and production stops until excess is absorbed by the market. That’s the way markets worked for thousands of years, in all types of societies, this basic formula. A “maker” makes what he can sell, only then does he make more. And he makes them well, so as to attract more customers. A ‘lull’ in one’s business was not unusual, no one panicked at what Wall Street was gonna say about their “quarterlies”.
Today, if it’s not growing at leaps and bounds 24/7, it’s considered practically dead. The idea of a ‘lull’ in business makes the financial world break out in flop-sweat. But in order to grow that way, you either have to access huge new markets all the time, or sell more of what you have to existing customers.
The only solution is built-in obsolescence. The product, in order to be manufactured at peak capacity, must require frequent replacement. People generally don’t have more than 1 washer/dryer set. If you are making washer/dryers and all your customers already have washer/dryers, then you make it so those machines will break down dependably, and need to be re-purchased. If you can also make them in such a way that precludes any smart-ass customers trying to fix it themselves, all the better.
Example: 30 years ago, we had an old washer dryer set. Big old dinosaurs they were. But when one broke down, it was a matter of trouble-shooting, then off to the appliance parts store. Half-hour later, I’m doing laundry. It is possible that, given access to parts as needed, the old set would be running today.
But today, good luck finding parts to old appliances. And all the new ones are digital computerized things with “motherboards” that YOU can’t fix! When this new washer crapped out, it went on lockdown, with a load of wet clothes in it. I had to call an appliance repair person who performed what I can only describe as some sort of healing ritual with magic lights to get the door open, then sold me a 2-year repair contract, in case I need the magic lights again. 2 years, because he said I’d probably have to replace by then…WTF?
Thing is, once you’ve accepted THAT as normal, you’re ready for the “Throw-Away Society”. The making of things designed to be used just once then discarded, and the factories can run 24/7.
Rampant consumerism has been foisted on us by the irrational demand of capital for ever-greater growth. It is a symptom, not a cause, of our current sickness. They have sold us on the idea, and we went along because those toys were just SO shiny, and cheap. We sacrificed quality for quantity, and built landfill mountains of old refrigerators, tires, Bic lighters and baby diapers. Future societies may actually “mine” our old landfill sites for raw materials.
I see a bit of a turn in attitudes, with the growing popularity of “artisan created” goods. But it’s still a boutique business. Hopefully it will catch on…
